Again the game should not be designed around players choosing not to tunnel someone. There is a reason they do not give you that information, and it's because most killers are rats.
So, because the game should not be designed for players choosing not to tunnel, and I choose to play how the game is designed, that means that I should tunnel...but then I'd be a rat for tunneling? Having some trouble with your logic here.
(Not really. I get that you think pretty much every killer is an ass, and you are against any assistance no matter how slight it is for tunnelers or how much it might help others trying to provide a better experience for survivors. You also appear to be hinting without saying that tunneling shouldn't be a choice at all and game mechanics should make it an impossibility.)

Playing nice is not how the game is meant to be played.
Cool, so you won't complain about getting tunneled then?
You know what happens WAY more than me intentionally tunneling someone out of the game? Me accidentally tunneling someone out because I'm trying to track eight million other things in my head about the match.
On the rare occasion that I am trying to tunnel someone out, I've never gotten my survivors confused because I have one name/portrait to worry about. If I'm chasing someone other than that single name or portrait, I switch targets. I don't have to worry about anything else. I'm not thinking about which gen the Jake ran to, or how much progress that cross map gen has, or how much time I have before Kate makes the rescue on Feng, and definitely not trying to think about all of that at once. One portrait. Squiggly claws. That's all I care about.

I mean... They gave her an addon rework and changed the rng component to be more reliable. So it's not like they would never buff her.
But I see your point. Thinking about it, we are a bit overdue for the next Pig nerf anyway.
Overdue? She literally just got a nerf in the Huntress Lullaby change two hotfixes ago.

The reason it happens is simple enough. It's a massive sense of entitlement, and no matter what changes are made to the game, you can't fix that. They know the game, they know how it works, the good and the bad. They know all this before they ever hit a lobby, yet still make the choice to do so - it's just they want all the good and none of the bad. Doesn't work that way: you get what you get and then you move on. The answer isn't to destroy the game for everyone else because they're inconvenienced, it's to stop playing the game they're clearly not enjoying at this point.
This almost 100%. It's not entirely entitlement, but pretty close. I have intentionally DC'd a few times, maybe 3-4 in total, and it's taken a lot to make me do so...so I get it when it's just entirely too frustrating. However, in my experience as a pretty considerate killer, the reality is almost all of the DCs or hook suicides are simply because things aren't going how they want.
- They got downed first or early.
- They tried a clever trick and it failed.
- They can tell it'll be a loss and they don't want to play it out.
- Their teammates are potatoes.
- They got unlucky with the server gifting me with a hit I probably should not have gotten.
None of which are valid reasons to just bail IMO, and comprise the vast majority of reasons people bail early in my games, and I'd say that happens in between a third to a half of my games.
Many players are going to play in ways that are incredibly frustrating, and often with the intention of making the opposition angry rather than just winning. Welcome to the internet. You better grow some thicker skin, advocate for changes in the game, and/or find another game. But screwing your team that isn't as bothered by it as you ain't the answer. Like what was said, by now you should know what you are in for and if you are DCing so much the penalties are a problem, this probably isn't the place for you.
-
No, the only place I would have wanted a face hugger is either exactly where it is - a small Easter egg, or as part of a mori and I prefer the tongue jaws mori. Once on, a face hugger is practically impossible to remove without killing the victim, even with advanced medical facilities. It's kind of their thing. The idea of a survivor just yanking one off is ludicrous. The focus of the original movie (which the chapter is based around) was the alien hunting down the crew. The face hugger was just a brief catalyst.
No, as far as being on theme, they nailed it.

Not much to this.
I don't think the game can be played at an average casual level anymore. I don't think you can really come home from a long day at work and play a couple of games on either role without the game being more trouble than it's worth.
Whether it's problematic Killer designs that are unfun to play against (Legion and Twins), overtuned characters (Blight and Nurse), Skull Merchant or even just the Killer being outright better than you, the casual Survivor experience is bad.
Whether it's teams that force you to play tactically and try hard, people who abuse certain bugs, people who just like to be frustrating (Boil Over) or just plain good teams; the causal Killer experience isn't much better.
I think that should change for both roles. I don't think you should need to sink 6 hours into a play session whilst being hyper-aware and uber competitive in order to have a chance to have fun.
I guess I need to get an idea of what exactly a casual game means to you. I feel like I play pretty casually and have fun for the most part and am curious whether the difference is in our experience or our expectations.
-
I have a blast with them. I don't main them but they are definitely part of my rotation.
-
Honestly, if you feel you've hit a wall and don't want to resort to tactics you won't have fun with, lose. Lose a lot. Chase some peeps around but let them all go in the end. Tank your MMR till you get to a comfortable level where you can have a fun game without sweating your ass off. I did it a year ago and haven't looked back. I win when I need/want to, but in a lot of games I also let everyone out after having some fun to keep my MMR in the sweet spot.

Some of ya haven't played games that accidentally erase your windows folder on a patch release and it shows lol.
-
The problem is everytime they try something different for either side, you have people coming out of the woodwork screaming "This is outrageous!" like they're Ben from VLDL.
-
I've owned the game since the PD2 crossover, but never actually played it until about a year and a half ago lol.
-
Nah, while I have a good amount of cakes, I don't have a stockpile so big that it'll last to the next anniversary, so I'll take use invitations and do just fine on BP while the event runs.
-
Imo, the take away from this is none of these are overtly busted perks. Overall, they are pretty healthy and while a couple on the list may be "I hate dealing with this perk", they are for the most part in a good place. This to me says that time the developers put into balancing perks and lowering pick rates of the perks listed is best spent buffing perks that need help rather than nerfing these top 10s. The more choices you have of perks at this level, the more varied of builds you'll see as people start including other similarly powered perks.
We still need to see how things shake out in a month or two with perks that are either fairly new, or had recent adjustments. I think MFT will definitely pop up on this list as well as Coup de Grace while Spine Chill takes a nose dive.
-
Purple Pill - get yourself hooked and go next.
-
I stopped getting twisted over survivors trying to get under my skin a long time ago. I play about as friendly as you can get while still getting hooks. Occasionally you'll get the survivor that is too dumb to realize they were let go or will see it as a sign of weakness or something. Then I'll see some legit booty-bouncing in the gates. For real though, it's been months since I've had anyone be a jerk in endgame chat.
Every few games of being generous I'll get survivors that try to offer themselves up as a sacrifice at the end of the game as thanks or as pity thinking I couldn't get a kill. I always decline because I made a choice for them to leave and I stick by that choice. Same goes when it happens after I legitimately had my butt handed to me. They played well and deserve the out. Losing means nothing to me.
The only time they get to me is when they screw themselves over. Leaving someone on hook to die for two full hook stages even though I'm in the complete opposite corner of the map.

Just standing there watching you bleed out at the door for the entire bleed out timer because he already used all the hooks near it? No, I have never done that (except for Boil Over abuse, I hate that perk and never use it.) In fact, while i do not agree it should be allowed, it's the reason many players want a "die" option for when they are left to bleed out.
It's not against the rules, and a killer is allowed to play however they want, I even said ggwp to him in the end game chat, as it's my vibe to be positive no matter what, however that doesn't mean that there isn't certain things I don't agree with and will call out (which is the main reason I use streamer mode even though I am not a streamer. I like my screenshots to hide names.) because it's also my policy to not do anything as killer that would make me angry as a survivor.
Don't even remember that killers' name and won't tell anyone even if I did.
BUT all that said, let me reiterate that the killer AND survivors are free to do whatever they find fun. That doesn't mean the other side will find it fun. So you have to make that personal decision on how much everyone having fun matters to you, and play your games accordingly.
Sorry, but no. This isn't the killer's fault, just like it's not your fault. This is a fault created by how the game works. This can come up after both of you have basically done everything right.
"Why won't he just let me open the gate if he can't carry me to a hook"
and
"Why won't he just let me carry him to a hook if he can't open the gate"
are the same thing. It's a stalemate created by game mechanics and neither of you wanting to give up to the other.
-
To be fair, Alien should be hard to screw up. Make it fast at times, make it stealthy at others, give it some form of lunge, and bam, you did it right. There might need to be some balance tweaks, but overall that's it. That's all I want.
-
Honestly I would not be mad at all if Alien was just a reskinned Demo. Obviously not gonna happen due to the people that do own Demo that would (rightfully) be livid over it, but I really hope it's along the same lines. Play and counterplay of killer powers through skill rather than some gimmick (emps). Replace the tunnels with a form of stealth and give the Xeno some sort of speedy movement for cross map help and I'd be a happy boi.

Technician is supposed to reduce this by 8 meters. The spring clamp is supposed to do the same. But I’m a little confused…. When you’re repairing generators there are certain noises you make although they’re often not even audible because the generator itself is so noisy. That’s what I’m curious about… whether you’re playing killer or survivor you can hear a generator before you get close to it (depending on how far along it is.) Often I can’t differentiate between those two noises because, as I said, the generators themselves are too noisy and cover up the repair noises. So…. Do these ranges only affect the repair noises? Because, if so, isn’t that kind of pointless? If I hear a noisy generator at all I know to check it out. I only turn around and ignore it when it’s silent or barely audible. So if these two only make the repair noises inaudible in that range and not the whole gen… what’s the point?
Mostly it's pretty useless unless you are stacking it. I definitely listen for repair noises if I'm patroling and will ignore a gen with low progress and no audible repair noise so there is a chance it can dupe me, but that's only if I can't visually see any proof of the gen being worked on.

1ste - A Warhammer 40K. They put it on the Survey as an option, and I will not let it go. GIVE ME MY KHORNATE DEMON KILLER!!!!
2de - Alien. I'm a big fan of the franchise and I am very very curious as what they do with the Xenomorph. Ripley will always be a welcome addition.
3rd - Candyman - Adding BEES right after Nicolas Cage will be the best joke BHVR have ever done.
Would be interested but not hoping for
Fnaf - Mainly to see the community's reaction
I'd love 40k as a long time fan and player. I'd at least love some skins. Oni would be perfect a World Eaters marine. My ideal killer would be a Lictor though.

Thank you 😄
i was confused on if they meant that or they were holding a tape or something haha
Bright grey ring means they just got a stack (or partial stack) of condemned. It should fade to a dull ring after a few seconds.
Dull grey ring means that they currently have some amount of condemned. Could be anything from part of a stack to six stacks with a partial seventh.
No ring means they have no stacks at all.
Red ring means they are at max stacks and are able to be moried.
Static behind the player portrait means they are holding a tape.

I feel like every single add-on helps the killer way too much than it should.
Just an example.. Using one of the Spirit's brownies? A difference of half a second up to two seconds of duration, recovery, or something.. That literally means one more round around the objects to force the survivor to drop the pallet, saving up about ~5 - 10 seconds of your time. That much saved time already, and we're only talking about the common rarities.
Not only I wouldn't feel satisfied and had fun for having add-ons play the game for me, but I'd also feel bad for the other players within the match for being subjected to such a player, you know?
Most killers don't need any add-ons, unless the survivors use toolboxes or medkits, which is unfortunately a thing of every single match in high MMR.. Truly a shame..
If I could have an infinite amount of add-ons - Sure! I'd be running them 24/7, but only once I'd feel confident while using the killer's ability. I do wanna learn how to play the game, not to get used to rely on some add-ons.
Every single addon? lol
-
It's a tough one to balance. I think my initial approach would be:
- A single stack upon being hit while holding a tape.
- Tapes aren't destroyed on hit, but are destroyed on being downed. This with the above encourages committed chases, but destroying the tape on down still blocks the whole thing where they just keep picking you up and downing you with a tape to max your condemn like it was on PTB.
- If you hook within 30 seconds of downing the survivor that was downed with a tape, all other survivors gain a stack. Hopefully this will encourage hooking instead of slugging.
- Possibly reduce teleport stacks from .75 to .5
- You can take a tape from any TV whether it is on or off. If it is on, it will turn off.
- You can insert a tape into any TV whether it is on or off, but inserting it into a TV that is off, will turn it back on. This and the previous addresses the issue where Survivors can have an almost impossible time grabbing and returning tapes to cleanse Corruption, but it can also give Sadako more teleports in addition to possibly giving the survivors position away if the killer is paying attention.
- Revert Reiko's Watch nerf (because thar was dumb)
- Lose her **** lullaby
That's my initial take on it. I played all day yesterday, and the only matches I lost were the ones where I had the survivors all on death hook with 4-5 gens to go and decided to let them all go because it was already over and every other game was a second 3-4ks and I try not to let my MMR get too out of hand.
Sadako was the killer that got me playing DBD, and I've never felt like playing for Condemned Survivors was her main goal. It was always to be a slowdown - "waste some time on this or else". I'd like it to remain so, but be smoother to employ than before. Her chase is pretty bad so imo, the goal should be to keep survivors out of chase occupied and off of gens so she has the time she needs to get downs.
* high mobility
* heavy slowdown mechanic that is very punishing if ignored
* weak chase potential
-
Distorted Photo is actually really good now. A great utility addon where you can use it to get wallhacks on tall loops, as well as quickly locate stealthy survivors trying to hide under your nose.
-
To the slugging point, you can't get stacks from picking someone off the ground anymore, so unless you are trying to bait out them healing them up to full at the same time, there isn't much point aside from trying to add pressure or go for a 4 slug, which most mobility killers can do (not endorsing it, just saying they did actually nerf that aspect for the addon.)
-
All they have to do is make the cypress mori basekit and give survivors a button to speed up bleedout after a total of like 45 seconds on the ground. Done. Killers can earn their moris every match without having to forgo BP or other offerings meaning it's much easier to sell custom moris, still have the option to give mercy, and survivors have the ability to get out of being bled out by toxic killers. Everyone wins, nothing that's really exploitable, why isn't this already done?

Nic Cage's perks are not useful if you want to win games. Since DBD is pretty much a competitive game, why would I bring in perks that are a detriment to me winning.
I'll give it to BHVR, It's a bold move to introduce Nic Cage as a survivor DLC, then hamper the sells of the DLC with non-competitive perks.
If this was League of Legends, the developers would have made sure the DLC perks were slightly overpowered to get sells, then nerf them to more reasonable levels after sells taper.
BHVR is counting on the fact that the Nic Cage "skin" will drive the sells, we'll see...
It doesn't make sense to you because you see DBD as a competitive game. The game is as competitive as you make it, and there are plenty of people out there that are just out to have fun which is what his perks are all about.
-
I'd you DC so much that the penalty becomes a problem, that's probably a sign you should play something else.
-
Hell half my gameplay is made up objectives or rules for myself. My current favorite is playing Pig with a pretty strong RBT build using Huntress Lullaby. I can only get five hooks for HL tokens and once I get my last trap on someone i can no longer down anyone, it is entirely up to them and RNG if they live or die. I'll even pick them up and let them wiggle off if they go down to not healing deep wounds from addons. Once all the traps are off, I'll meme around with the remaining survivors and open the gates for them when the last gen pops.

I’m sorry but where is the fun in playing Skull Karen?
Haste and Hindered addons, drop drones at loops for chases, drop them at choke points to moniter movement. Play as an M1 killer with some lower-tier Clown style chase slowdown and the occasional exposed and map info. Doesn't work well against high mmr survivors but does fine mid to low mmr. Plenty of fun. Just have to not take the more boring path of least resistance just for the sake of winning.

I am sorry to the people that play her, but she is not healthy for the game by any means. There’s no gameplay for both sides and it takes no time to actually master her. She either needs to get removed or completely reworked.
I would make one adjustment to that statement - she is oppressive and unhealthy when played in a particular playstyle (3-gen). When played otherwise, she's fine.
-
If the game experience is so bad for someone that that they DC often enough that the penalties are actually a problem, then this probably isn't the game for you. Personally, I don't want you on my team or in my match, so good riddance. If enough people quit playing due to that, then BHVR will be forced to address the issues that cause it. DC penalties are a win/win for me.
DCs, hook suicides, afks all make up the worst part of this game for me. I can deal with BM, unhealthy tactics, etc, but having players that just give up absolutely ruins the match for me in any role. Keep the penalties, and I welcome our new bot pinch hitters.

You'll be surprised to learn I win a bit less than 60% of my games. At higher MMRs there are quite a lot of survivors who know how to actually verse a Nurse. It's even easier now after her last Nerf. Keep in mind some survivors where winning against Omega Nurse : she is far from that level of threat now. I presume it may be easier with add-ons but I don't like to use them.
The point wasn't about the Nurse though.

Chases is always more fun than anything else in the match. Win or lose. This is true for all the killers I play but especially Nurse. I just love being bamboozled by a good survivor. There are magicians out there.

That thrill usually disappears after a few hundred of hours anyway. I've not feared a killer for a very long time and I seldom see a player being afraid of my killer, even as Nurse. (Annoyed, yes)

Good points. This makes me think that a bastard could keep everyone slugged. Maybe a base-kit Unbreakable in that mode? Or a respawn of the survivors far from the killer?
As for a killer too weak for the survivors, that should be the job of the MMR. (Granted, it doesn't always work.)
Maybe this mode should allow both sides to concede. Since time isn't an issue for any side, concession could even be partial.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3485104#Comment_3485104
It would only be an alternative game mode. We still need the normal mode for whoever doesn't enjoy a more casual experience.
"It would only be an alternative game mode. We still need the normal mode for whoever doesn't enjoy a more casual experience."
I get that, and I'd be fine with that to a point. If it became popular enough that matchmaking in the regular game mode became problematic, that'd probably be the end for me.
-
I really have a hard time seeing how anyone could have a problem with DC bots and keeping the penalty unless they are just someone upset over losing an easy win, or they are part of the problem of people that DC over nothing. Nothing changes from how it is now other than you have a much better chance of actually having a reasonable game if someone DCs.

If I'm killer and see survivors obviously sandbagging I'll try and punish them. Just the other day I saw someone drop a pallet in another survivor's face and I just kinda looked between them and the other survivor like "what?". Dropped chase and went after him instead. He wasn't unhooked.
Same with bodyblocking. One game I was chasing someone through shack and another survivor just run into the doorway to block em. I just stood there flabergasted and let the first survivor run off while I tunnelled the bodyblocker.
Unfortunatly it can be hard sometimes to know who's in the wrong, I'll usually punish people who rat out other survivors in lockers but sometimes they're ratting them out for good reason like they've just been sitting there all game waiting for hatch.
Yeah I do enjoy punishing sandbagging teammates, but it can be a difficult call to make with your limited perspective. I tend to err on the side of caution with a "that's between ya'lls and the walls" attitude, but if it's extremely blatant, I'll happily make the sandbagger miserable.

Nah, they should not remove this Wall. Because then the Main Building would not have anything to work with.
Main Buildings on Maps can have strong Loops (with breakable Walls). It would be really strange if the MAIN Building would be the place were you die the most.
Right, that's kinda my point. IMO, they didn't remove it to help killers have easier access to the garage, like you stated in your post. They removed the wall so survivors had an out if the killer caught them unaware in there.
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
So that the Killer does not have to break a wall to get easy access to the Gen in the Main Building.
You have to break the Wall next to the Window anyway as Killer, even before the window was strong while the wall was not broken.
But then that's the wall they should have removed. Removing the wall in the garage itself was to ensure that survivors couldn't get trapped there.
-
Pass from me. I get that chases are the most fun part of the game, but a game of only chases would be boring as hell. I like the strategy involved in who to down and when, where to hook, when to defend the hooks and when to patrol.

You can only tank your mmr so far once you reach a specific range if I think?
I don't think it will drop you down to completely new players regardless of how much you lose.
Correct me if I'm wrong though.
Definitely not true. I had myself pretty high in MMR. Pretty sure I was at or around the soft cap because I was often getting just straight nasty matches mixed in with my usual matches. Then I spent last summer pretty much being the ultimate friendly killer and bottomed it out again. Actually took it way too low and matches were frustrating for the opposite reason. I've got it built back up to a point that's comfy again where the survivors I play against aren't complete potatoes, but it's also rare that I encounter the four-man/four-minute SWF either. I pretty much play in the same manner as Hug described, only going max sweat when I get matched with particularly sadistic players.
-
I will play and rotate through most of the killers. There are a couple that I refuse to play and probably another two or three that I'll only play if they have a daily or a tome challenge I need to complete. Aside from that, I can have fun with the vast majority of the killer roster.

I mean… I was playing against a Legion today and I was trying to crouch in a corner and they saw me and just kind of stopped and stared. I just froze there because, like, running would just get me stabbed so maybe I just do nothing? It didn’t work but it was worth a try!
Heh, those moments crack me up as killer. I usually wait a few seconds ds just to see what they do then smack em if they don't move and go on my merry way as they run off.
-
What about instead of shortening the hook timer the penalty was something else? A movevent speed penalty stack for every failed attempt, and maybe have the ability to remove a stack through helpful team interactions - completing a gen, unhooking someone, completing the equivalent of a full heal.
Something punishing enough to still make it unwise to do it unless no other options exist, but also something you can recover from with team play.

Survivor has always been harder to earn BP with in my experience. We've been asking for them to look at it for awhile. As killer (which is what I mostly play) if I eight-hook and let everyone live in the end, I'll easily earn more BP than most if not all the survivors, even though they had the same chases, unhooks, and heals and also escaped.

when they post on the BHVR forums
never seen a killer player who was happy on these forums
(the same goes for survivor players though so take that as you will)
I'm happy AF for the most part. I have a good time in my games. Now it's mostly because I've mostly worked myself into lower tier MMR where I can relax and have fun. If I play on PTB where MMR is turned off, it's a horrific sweat-fest. But everyday games, I'm vibing as the kids say.
