Simple. If they opened the exit gates they want to BM. Looking away from the Tbag and or not indulging them is not going to do you any good. Get bagged and move on, simple as that.

    No.

Why would i want to indulge them?

If something like this happens i ignore them, get myself something to drink or check my e-mails.

I didn't say I want nurse nerfed. Her basekit is fine imho, and the numbers showed that the recharge add-ons are fine too.

I argued why I think the range add-ons are unhealthy to the gameplay. Some agreed, others disagreed, but implying that two add-ons should be reworked, doesn't mean I want her basekit nerfed

    Well i have to disagree.

The range addons are quite important, so calling them unhealthy is calling for a nerf.

And no the range addons are not unhealthy for the game at all.

A Nurse without any kind of range addon is quite awful to play, especially on large maps.

And as mentioned your "thesis" is just a theoretical construct. People are playing the Nurse not some AI super bots.

There are many instances where you can make mistakes with your blinks, make a bad prediction, land in a spot where you cant teleport through a wall even with a range addon etc.

You just cant compare these numbers to real actual gameplay where real people are playing it.

I don't think she will be nerfed again, simply because she has bad stats. She is a very niche killer right now. OP can argue as much as he wants, and describe her bad stats as "dumb comments", it's the reality.

Nobody cares that in theory, you have this insane speed and you should not miss any blink, because in reality, nurses do miss, even with these "broken" addons and survivors do escape. We are not bots, we don't have wall hacks or enchanced sound. We do a lot of mistakes, and sometimes lose way too much distance or even the whole chase because of the fatigue and slow movement.

You don't balance a game around how bots making no mistakes would play the game in a perfect world. Remember they nerfed Pig and Pinhead because of stats.

I hope you are right. And i agree 100% with what you said.

  • That is most likely the most theoretical "please nerf Nurse" thread i have ever seen.

All these numbers and stuff.......its way too theoretical.

It doesnt factor in the human equation on both sides.

People dont play like machines or perfect AI bots.

But i am sure this thread among others will be at some point the nail in the coffin for Nurse.

If enough people complain about her BHVR will nerf her.

I can already see how this might turn out. Best case scenario for Nurse after the nerf?

Imagine playing her with matchbox and the addon that makes her a 115% M1 killer for 60 seconds.

This could be the future Nurse with best addons.

And even then people would still complain. She can teleport through things, so unfair........

  • It is pretty much unplayable.

But honestly i have given up on getting out.

I do gens and stuff and usually watch my team doing nothing or getting killed.

And if i do 3 gens alone i am usually the one who is left behind while others who hid in corners get out.

    Hiding in corners=skill

  • @Peanits said:

I'll start by saying that I'm not trying to throw any shade here. People come and go over the years, and I really don't expect anyone to catch every single thread we've responded to or remember every time we've answered something. I'm willing to bet there's a good chunk of people who weren't even around last time we talked about it, but we have indeed brushed upon this in the past.

First of all, I just want to clear up this idea that we are only thinking about this now that SBMM is a thing. I can safely say that it is not the case. Over the few years I've been here, there have been loads of conversations about not only this, but many other hot topics that for one reason or another have to get shelved for a while (whether that's time constraints, bottlenecks, bigger fish to fry, etc.).

We shared this statistic because it gives something concrete to aim for. Previously, we only had ranks 1-20 to work on, and due to the way ranks worked- and since there's not a whole lot of granularity when you only have 20 ranks to work with- players of wildly varying skill levels ended up lumped together. I think anyone who's reached rank 1 on the old system knows that it's not necessarily purely about skill. Just by virtue of playing a lot, many people would end up climbing to rank 1 even if that wasn't where they were most comfortable.

As a result, the data wasn't very reliable and the gap appeared far smaller than it really was. Does that mean the gap didn't exist? No, absolutely not. Sure, we could feel a difference playing matches, but I think we can all agree that blindly aiming for a target that you cannot see is not a good idea. Doing so makes any change we could do very risky, as it could be totally overkill and buff Survivors way too much, or not enough and still leave solo Survivors behind (as well as wasting development time that could be spent on other issues). Even after the fact, it'd be hard to say whether or not the change was effective because we don't have anything but our gut feeling to determine if it worked.

With SBMM, on the other hand, we're able to see much more accurate info on just how big the difference is at different skill levels, and more importantly, we have something we can monitor to see how effective any changes are. It gives us a tangible goal beyond "This feels a little better I guess." Now if we do a change, we can see exactly how much the gap has closed (whether it's gone, unchanged, or smaller than before).

But moreover, the main reason we shared this info- both the statistic and the mechanic- is to be more transparent. I think anyone who's been around for a while can vouch for the fact that we normally don't talk about mechanics like this so early on. It's something that people have been asking for and it's something we've been pushing for as well. We genuinely believe it's better to be open about it and frame the things we're suggesting with reasoning rather than dropping it as a surprise with no context.

On a personal level, I find it a pretty disheartening that when we do push to reveal things earlier like this, it's often met with conspiracies, fearmongering and passive aggressive jabs at the team. I always get excited when we're able to good news like this with the community, especially when it's a big topic like the SWF gap. But it's really disappointing to see something that people have been asking for somehow get twisted into something negative. Even still, I stand by the fact that it's better to be transparent and share these details than the keep them locked away until the last second.

You are genuinely surprised that there are people who dont react well to this new revelation?

Your lead game designer told people years ago to go play Civilization as a response to someone bringing up general balancing problems.

Another Dev literally acknowledged on video that the game is unbalanced and he didnt care about it AT ALL.

He event went as far as to mock the person who brought up the issue.

Both instances are on video and can be found with a simple google search.

THAT is why people react the way they do. Think about it.

  • I dont get his at all.

Maybe i am too naive but i dont see how these masks can be used in a racist manner.

If the masks can be used in a racist manner then everything else in the game could as well.

So where would that lead to?

  • Thanks for the answers. I will contact Steam support about this.

  • I am using a RX 6900XT and i have no issues with the game at all.

And i disagree with Bwsted about the AMD drivers.

These days the AMD driver and control panel is packed with lots and lots of useful stuff and ways to optimize things.

  • I have this dead hard validation problem in almost every game at least once or twice.

My ping to the sever is mostly below 20ms with a 1 Gigabit internet connection.

So surely the cause must be something else.

Most likely a non functioning or buggy hit validation.

    "Waah, I don't like this. It's not fair." /thread

    We get it.

You did the very thing you accused me of. And you lashed out at me with insults.

I cant take you seriously, sorry. Not going to discuss with someone who flat out insulted me in my face.

Anyway as i said earlier. This event should be fun for everyone, there is nothing wrong with wanting that.

That said i will no longer respond or engage with you in any way. Have a nice day.

How is it not a slight advantage? They get to avoid being downed, sure, but they don't get a speed boost and they don't get the dash they'd get from Dead Hard, it at best buys them a reset if they're insanely lucky and get a snowman that's like, right next to a strong loop.

Which, again, is only a problem if you're approaching the goofy holiday event like you're trying your hardest to win, which I have no idea why you'd do if you're so convinced that the snowmen break that aspect of the game.

I'm not telling people how they're supposed to play or feel about the game, I'm reminding them that there is more than one way to play or feel about the game, and that this event is encouraging one that isn't playing sweaty. That's it. Stop putting words in my mouth.

Of course. You are trying to tell people how they should play and feel about the game.

You are doing it for 3 pages now.

All i hear from you is one excuse after another why this is event is a non issue and you ignoring peoples arguments.

Please remind me what is the killers goal in this game?

So its totally fine for you if killers suffer but survivors using the snowman to block hooks, without them risking a health state, them circumventing core game mechanics in order to escape.

You suggest that killers complain because they play sweaty and want to win. But survivors using the snowmen to their advantage is totally ok and not sweaty gameplay?

Now lets hear your latest excuse and please some more sugar coating, its only about 1km thick and could use another layer.

Not sure what I'm supposed to do with that comment.

If you're not playing seriously then why... are you mad? They only offer a (slight) advantage in competitive-approach matches, if you're playing casually then they're a funny little disguise mechanic.

Oh please. Enough with sugar coating everything. Its sickening.

Its not a "slight" advantage and you completely disregard valid arguments because you dont WANT to listen.

All you want is trying to tell people how they are supposed to play or feel about the game.

It’s just natural human instinct honestly. But its a stupid instinct and we should all try to avoid it.

    Funny how you put it.

You complain about people who complain about people who like to taunt others.

And somehow you are trying to excuse the people doing the taunting.

Maybe the people taunting should try to avoid "their" natural instinct to do so in the first place.

Then we wouldnt have people complaining and you making excuses for the taunters.

    Killer main.

Relax. Even if you don't care about the cosmetics, just the general tone of this thread should let you know that if you take serious offense to this event, you are in the vast minority of vocal windbags. You've got to realize that the tryhards, high MMR, and people on these forums are the smallest percentage of the DBD community.

Regular folks are having fun with it. You can't expect BHVR to not do silly things because you don't like how it upsets competitive play. Either cool off or move on, but screaming into the void won't do anything other than persuade them to STOP making events.

BHVR was widely criticized for the lack of uniqueness to the Halloween event. So they added new ######### this this time for us to mess around with.

Its not for you to decide if the majority likes or dislikes the event.

I havent seen any data supporting either of these options.

Sorry but i cant see how this can be "fun" for killers. These Snowmen do grant an extra protection hit and can be abused, especially by all the swf groups. Its a cherry on top of the clicky clicky cake.

Why should i just accept this? I paid enough money for this game already.

I would rather them not adding an event like this but something that is fun for everyone.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2687940#Comment_2687940

Good lord, you are taking this far too seriously. The absolute worst case scenario here is that the game is very slightly more annoying until the end of this very limited event, so if that's really insurmountable to you, just take a break until it's over.

So you're right, I don't get it. Seeing survivors hop into snowmen and start moving at a snail's pace is funny, and since they don't get a speed boost it's not a free hit, it's a much more minor extension than that.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2687933#Comment_2687933

Stop taking it so seriously. I can't fathom being mad at the jokey holiday event because you take the game so seriously that any even slight advantage the survivors can get from it is unacceptable.

If you're not gonna tolerate it, don't tolerate, go play something else until the event's over. This isn't legitimate criticism, it's being hyper-touchy to even perceived slights.

Are you the new PR person for the Devs?

Stop apologizing for them adding this content.

The game isnt "slightly" more annoying, these Snowmen are an outright trolling tool for survivors and can be abused in all sorts of situations to give survivors a much higher chance of escaping.

The solution cant be "play something else" or "take a break".

Thats just silly reasoning. I shouldnt be forced to take a break because of a seasonal game mechanic that makes killer gameplay insufferable in some cases.

  • @jesterkind said:

They don't get a speed boost, and you DO get a free cosmetic out of it.

This is a fun addition. Don't take it so seriously, it's just a silly little snowman disguise survivors can take and it's only gonna last for as long as this little event.

This community really will complain about anything...

You really dont get it do you?

These things are free hits and also free escapes in some situations, completely negating several perks and killer mechanics.

If you think thats "fun" think again.

They are indeed silly and anything but little.

I dont care about the cosmetic. So the price for the cosmetic is be trolled until the event is over?

Seriously i wonder who came up with the idea and gave it a green light to be released into the game.....

  • It also protects against noed when they are close to the exit.

Nothing you can do about it.

    Fun fun fun.

I know this is supposed to be a "fun" event thing.

But this is just a new (temporary) game mechanic to troll killers.

  • @Sluzzy said:

Basically since the game was launched, everything has been nerfed from survivor to the point now there is no escape options.

BHVR has done an outstanding job making survivor a miserable unfun experience unless you are playing SWF and having fun and not caring if you lose or not. Watching some Twitch today because I didn't care whether I played or not, killers are playing in the most unfun ways possible sweating with slugging people at 4-5 gens still up and people DC out of sheer disgust with their lack of hope in the match. It is a testament that people even queue as this role to begin with.

Survivor has been nerfed way more than killers. It blows my mind how horrible survivors have been nerfed over the years. Dead Hard is about the only meta perk that hasn't been nerfed and the developers have totally refused to fix it while making sure with certain that killer perks work as they are supposed to. Even nerfed a survivor perk before going live and then disabled it in this patch before it went live. Killer perks also are way more oppressive, unfun and never disabled or nerfed. Survivor perks are nerfed when they are deemed unfun, such as decisive strike being nerfed not once or twice but several times. But killer perks such as NOED that are unfun, or Tinkerer/Ruin on Blight are never nerfed. The devs should apologize for this and try to make amends with their community.

Object of Obsession was totally ruined and nobody uses it now. However, Tinkerer/Ruin/Undying is actually a worse experience to play against and it is still used constantly on Blight and nobody wants to play against it. It still isn't nerfed or reworked to be more fun to play against. The devs should apologize about this.

Killers cried about Balanced Landing on Haddonfield and it was nerfed. Killers cried about keys and now they are an unuseable item. There is no point in playing survivor now if there is not an opportunity to escape other than finishing all 5 gens. Where is the fun here?

I could write an entire book more about how survivors have received a real beating in the game, there is no end to survivor nerfs. Solo is totally, totally unplayable.

I just think survivors deserve a sincere apology for being mistreated and they need to be thanked and appreciated for playing the game. Until BHVR officially apologizes to survivors and promises to improve I will never have any respect.

Will you give it a rest already?

    What are you "on" about?

Survivors are the power role in this game, especially in higher MMR ranges.

They do have all the tools to use the Killer as their plaything if they want to.

That is very much true for all the SWF groups out there.

Its all about DH,DS,BT,Unbreakable. You fill find these in most matches.

Many survivors are so incredibly toxic because they know they have the upper hand.

As a result you see them t-bag behind dropped pallies and of course clicking with their flashlight if they happen to carry one around.

What you want Sluzzy is an easy escape button that lets you escape at your whim, nothing more.

And of course it has to be an item exclusively for YOU to carry around.

I am simply appalled by what you write here. Its such a deluded one sided view of the game.

  • Does anyone remember that dev blog video? The one where one of them stated that the MMR system is so incredibly complex that he cant even explain it adequately to people in the video? Like you need to have a PhD in advanced mathematics to even understand the basics of it.

And then its all about kill/escapes. Super complicated...right.

  • Its just dreadful right now.

It used to be fun to play as a survivor.

Doesnt matter what i do. Doing gens, saving people, looping the killer.

I can loop the killer for 2 mins and what happens? Nothing!

No single gen has been made because while the killer is chasing me the rest of my team is running around the edges of the map, hiding behind walls.

Its like playing with terribly written AI bots.

Nemesis AI controlled zombies are smarter.

  • @SavouryRain said:

If you lose a hook because you got bodyblocked, you got outplayed.

    What a silly statement.

When yo have survivors swarming the hook so you cant hook someone there is nothing you can do unless you use certain perks.

It has nothing to do with skill. Outplaying someone is using skill.

Bodyblocking with all the meta crutch perks available is not skill at all.

  • Yes i cant login as well.

  • Maybe they will add a new Survivor Perk that punishes Gen Kicking.

    Perk: Tap Dancing

Your relentless efforts to demoralize your opponent pay of in an unexpected way.

After sufficient t-bagging or flashlight clicking has been conducted in an attempt to demoralize the killer tap dancing activates for 45 seconds.

Whenever you are in the terror radius of the Killer any Generator currently regressing will have its repair progress increased by 15% when tapping it.

An additional 5% bonus will apply for any other additional survivor within the terror radius when they actively "demoralize" the killer.

If its the last generator that need to be repaired one tap will finish it instantly, the exist gates will be opened and all survivors will be teleported to the gates at once. This perk has no cooldown.

  • @Mandy said:

It's impossible for the system to tell whether a player is deliberately disconnecting themselves or has a genuine internet issue - that's why they are all categorised the same. The disconnect penalty is kept low initially for the times when there is an issue as disconnects from Server issues are very infrequent and it's often on the users end where the issue occurs.

Steam maintenance is scheduled and that's out of our hands, but it's also something that happens the same time every single week so it's not too difficult to avoid playing at that time, or if you are disconnected due to being mid match and not noticing, then the 5 minute penalty will be up prior to the maintenance being completed so you wouldn't have lost any game time anyway.

There are no plans to implement a "rejoin system" afaik, this is something that I believe would struggle to work within DbD as with it being such an asymetrical game, people tend to leave for all sorts of reasons and a ragequit from a game shouldn't give the player the opportunity to rejoin instantly - it should give them time to cool off a bit, which is does quite effectively.

That is a lot of nice and wonderful PR talk. But it does not address the issue.

I encountered it multiple times myself when Steam had brief outages (outside their usual maintenance schedule) and while watching people stream DBD on Twitch.

All you are saying here is that its out of your hands, wrapped up in a lot of fluffy and cozy PR language.

Maybe that is not good enough.

The game itself gives out a specific error code and it should be possible for the system to cross check and verify if steam has a brief outage.

I think its just a matter of effort to put these kind of implementations into the game to prevent these issues.

A player should never be punished for something they didnt do.

It doesn't matter if it is legal or not (btw, I'm pretty sure redistributing things is the felony you are talking about. Just downloading a pirated version of something is hardly against the law). The situation is the same, and I explained how.

So you still continue with this silly comparison?

    Very well.

You said that people complaining about internet connection issues are the same people who justify piracy or in other terms copyright infringement because they cant afford the games. In other words you are comparing people with connection issues with criminals.

Yes downloading and using pirated software is against the law. End of discussion.

Are you really going to tell all of us here that this is an accurate and valid comparison?

Maybe its time for you to acknowledge that your comparison was a mistake.

  • @Pukenplag said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2439103#Comment_2439103

"Illegal criminal activity" - it isn't one in my country lmao.

I also have issues every so often, but maybe 1 time a month. When you get to the point of having a 24h ban, it means you KEPT ON disconnecting for I think 12 times?

OP just said that it is mostly DbD that causes them issue. For that I apologize.

Software piracy or in other terms Copyright infringement is illegal in most countries.

So its not a valid comparison to someones internet connection.

  • @Pukenplag said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2439074#Comment_2439074

That is PRECISELY the fault of the OP because they said multiple times how they have bad connection in general.

LMAO, I am DICTATING who can play and who can't? It is exactly how I would tell you you are directing who can and who can't buy real estate because you said you need money for it.

And how is that a ridiculous comparison? Both are cases of someone justifying their situation by saying they can't do better. If you can't do better than bad and detrimental to others, then don't do anything at all.

Why is it his fault? Connection problem do happen even on the really high end ones.

You cant simply blame the player for that. As i said maybe the DBD netcode needs some optimizations so that DCs dont happen that quickly.

Are you seriously asking me why your comparison is ridiculous? Do i have to spell it out for you?

You are comparing an illegal criminal activity to someone how has connection issues. Do i need to say more?

  • @Pukenplag said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2439020#Comment_2439020

Lmao the entitlement of some people.

Video games are NOT a right god damnit. They are very popular and for the majority affordable, but that doesn't mean you have to play them. If you don't afford/ can't buy due to other reasons the right specs for them, then don't play them.

People that don't understand this are the same people that justify piracy by saying they don't have money for games. Just because something is popular it doesn't mean you are given access to it regardless of your situation.

That is the most ridiculous comparison imaginable. Comparing an internet connection with piracy........wow.

    YOU are talking about entitlement?

YOU! The person here trying to dictate who can play and who cant.

No one said that video games are a right. That doesnt mean that you can come in here on your planet sized horse and tell people what they can and cant do.

If the OP has a problem wit his connection, thats unfortunate but it can happen.

And if its only happening in DBD then maybe its netcode isnt quite up to the task?

Thats not the fault of the player.

  • @Pukenplag said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2438859#Comment_2438859

    1) you don't have to dc if the killer slugs. Wait 4 mins and you are out of the game. 1 min less than dcing and you also gain bp

    2) I also want to have my own make-up brand. Sadly I don't have the perfect requirements to achieve my dream so I work my way into having them.

Please understand that, just because video games are popular, you aren't born with the right to play them. If you don't own what's necessary for playing them, then don't play them.

Your last sentence must be one of the most arrogant things i have read for quite a while.

Who do you think you are? Trying to dictate who can play games and who doesnt.

  • So far the experience has been pretty awful. Before the SBMM system i used to have nice matches but right now its just terrible.

The game isnt fun anymore. I havent tried the new system with playing killer yet only survivor but its usually dreadful.

Every game ends up in being tunneled out early or the survivors are being stomped.

My team mates are mostly running around like headless chicken and i wonder whats going on while trying to do gens.

At the same time the killer is having a basement party.

If this is BHVRs way of giving the community "fun" they arent doing it right.

Edit: Another game of pure torture. If this remains in the game i am out of here for good.

  • I think there is indeed a problem with some parts of the community.

Yes i am a fairly new player with less then 100 hours playtime but i had some really awful experiences playing as a killer.

When people notice that you are new at the game and havent mastered the killer you play they will mock you with any tool at their disposal.

Spamming flashlights (not to blind), pointing at you, tbagging all the time. They let you know that you are being toyed with.

Just recently i had a round with toxic people like that. Somehow managed to down them all and let them bleed out.

It takes a while but the objective is not to let them escape.

Its only fair when you are being treated with such contempt.
