To clarify I'm not trying to start a us vs. them thing. I'm suggesting one possible way to make the game more fun. I main Ghostface so I feel you and get the low mobility pain but I have to disagree on constant hard tunneling. It's just not very fun for anyone. What I often see called strategy is pretty boring for both sides from my pov, as a killer I don't want to sit 4m from hook and chase a survior for 4.5 seconds once I wait out BT. I want to loop or jumpscare people. I get in some situations you got to tunnel or they survior just runs into you cause they are clueless sure, but tunneling one person, then the next, then the next waiting near hook all the time not exactly my idea of a good time. Now I may be totally wrong about DS and people probably have better ideas I welcome them but I'm just hoping we can find a good middle ground. Also end game is a free for all but that's another discussion I think the exit gates shouldn't be able to be 99ed. I like ruin but for exit gates but not sure exactly how that would work on some maps. That's another topic for another post.
"I main ghostface". No one plays that killer at my level just stop please.

So I just had another wonderful slugfest match where the killer was hell bent on getting 4 tombstone kills. After 2 survivors were tombstoned, the killer proceeded to do everything in their power to try and get me and the other survivor. They did not succeed but it came at the cost of having to wait out not only the extremely long bleed out timer, but also being carried around by the killer with 1% left for as long as possible.

Anyone who has ever been in this situation knows how mind-numbingly boring this situation is. Something needs to be there to deter the killer from doing this. My idea is to have generators begin to auto repair after certain conditions are met. The main condition will be excessive slugging of a survivor. The bleed out timer is too long. I understand it serves a purpose mainly in the early to mid game but in situations like this you just want it to be over and perhaps it doesn't always need to end in the killer's favor. I think if the killer leaves a survivor on the ground for more than 30 seconds a random generator will begin to repair. For every minute after any survivor is left in the dying state will add 25% repair progress to a generator. The killer would also not be able to interact with this generator. In this situation, since the killer was doing it to both of us the last 2 generators would have repaired before the killer could bleed us both out. This would greatly deter excessive slugging because it would add a punishment that would be counter productive to the killer's effort to drag out the match for a desired outcome. It would encourage killers to prioritize hooks when other methods of elimination are not convenient.
What do you think?
I think personally these are the types of basekit changes that are killing/hurting DBD, I would advise against anything like this. Personally, ever since that Nic Cage chapter the game has forced specific killers into the most die-hard of playstyles.

Killing would be, "ok, just I caught and hooked Survivor A. I went away to kick a gen and found Survivor B, chased them, downed them, hooked them. Oh look, A just got unhooked by C! So, I could go back and chase C, or keep checking gens, in case D tries to pop one."
Tunneling would be, "ok, just I caught and hooked Survivor A. I went away to kick a gen and found Survivor B, chased them, downed them, hooked them. Oh look, A just got unhooked by C! Time to go back and immediately, purposefully target A again until they're downed, put them back on hook, and keep an eye on them. Oh, now B's just been unhooked? Let's give them the same treatment as A! back on the hook with you!"
--
There's a very noticeable difference between these two behaviors, and I'm sorry if it's become so muddled for you over time that you can't tell them apart, because that certainly makes this debate harder for you. But they are different, and one is not ok nor fun for the Survivors.
If I get chased and put on hook first, that's fine. So long as between me getting unhooked and me getting chased for the second time, I've had time to do something like heal/get healed, start repairing a gen, etc., then that's fine. That's not tunneling. If the Killer comes straight back to hook once my feet hit the ground and chases me, deliberately ignoring my teammate who unhooked, that's not fine; that's tunneling. That's a problem, and specifically the problem we're trying to fix. Again, if you have suggestions on how to potentially fix this problem, I'd love to hear them! 😀 you're clearly Killer-sided, which gives us a good PoV into that side of gameplay, so you can definitely help out here if you want.
Killer sided? No all I want is 2k kills per trial, that's as balanced as it gets. Tunneling=Killing. It doesn't matter how the gens get done right? So you can cut out the middle man. If you change "tunnelling" killing you have no killer. No killer=No game.

Please tell me how this would kill the game in detail? It's not like they get original DS that lasts all game and for both hook states. You can't honestly tell me you read any this post except the title. I feel like I'm going crazy, am I the only one who plays solo queue and have my teammates get hard tunneled out at 5-4 gens in 50% of my games? I sometimes play with friends of under 100 hours and we can't get much done because killers force them to learn nothing and earn no BP because they want to win too much or make people miserable.
No killer=No game.

If there was no issue with things like tunneling, BHVR wouldn't have even attempted to stop Killers from doing it (i.e. with DS, OTR, etc.).
When I say tunneling, I mean actual tunneling, like "Survivor gets unhooked and Killer chases them immediately within 30-60s of unhook, before Survivor has a chance to get healed or perform any conspicuous action, sometimes despite teammates attempting to intervene." Not the stereotype of "I got unhooked and now the Killer's chasing me again, even though I started repairing/bodyblocked for a while/sabo'd the hook right in front of them!!" Because that's not tunneling.
And as for @LazyClown 's argument: The problem is that Killers often seem to forget (or just don't care) that it's a video game, it's meant to be fun for everyone, not just them. So they specifically target certain Survivors, it ruins the game for them and makes them feel useless, because they got removed from play so early on w/o a chance to recover or earn any real points.
Do I have games as Survivor where I get tunneled early, but shrug and move on? A ton, yes, but it's not fun. And I've played against many a team as Killer that make me feel like garbage because they're too good for me... or because they, much like a tunneling Killer would, seem to forget that it's a video game, it's meant to be fun, and instead decide to throw any and all sportsmanship out the window, as they go out of their way to do things that most people consider 'rude,' such as crouch-spamming and flashlight clicking.
Tunneling is bad, and it is an issue. The real problem, like I stated before, is 'how can we fix it?' And I'd love to hear ideas from anyone, both Survivor and Killer mains alike! because this is a problem that requires help from both sides to try and fix. 😃
Everyone = Survivors. What about the killer and the roles actual name? Umm tunnelling=killing. Is it that hard of a concept?

Dead Hard honestly became useless now because we can only use it twice per game. Seeing as it can only be used after hook, why can’t it at least have a dash like the old one or at least make it so that we can get it back after the exhaustion?
If you think it's useless you're pretty low level, the perk wins trials. You are just going to have to get better with it.

I wholeheartedly believe that killers should have a limited amount of time they can use their inherent power. Once the power is expended they will have to rely on their perks just like survivors. I mostly play as killer and find almost all survivor competition underwhelming. It is FAR too easy to eliminate survivors now. Pathetically easy.
I had to come up with my own MO where whoever plays the best is the survivor I might let live. Sadly, not many qualify.
You are playing at a very low level and it shows, go for straight up kills as much as you can. You'll get there eventually.

Let's be real almost only filthy bully squads use the combo of 'For the people' and 'Buckle Up'.
So if a solo q player uses it fine. He risked something to safe his teammate. So gaining endurance is okay. The one who was healed by 'For the people' shouldn't get an extra health state just because somebody else picked him up. This would force bully squads to at least waste another slot on soul guard.
I also demand that we add a penalty system for bully squads as mentionend in my post here:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/393328/add-penalties-for-toxic-behaviour
I am so tired of toxic people ruining games
The perk is fine, you just have to deal with it. At least it keeps survivors off of gens, rather have that than 5 second ds any day of the week.
-
@Lmac99 said:
I feel like this is now an appropriate time to consider having Decisive Strike as basekit. I want to post here the most balanced way to add it. This would be the 5 second DS not the 3 second version as it just wouldn't be enough.
First, just for fun and for an immersive experience, there would be a new animation added. Every hook on every map would have removable spikes just above where Survivors can reach. Once hooked and after screaming, your character would reach above their head and grab a spike from the hook and keep it on their person.
Once a survivor is unhooked, Base DS activates and has no timer. If a killer goes for you, downs you, and picks you up, you will automatically stab them with the spike and get off their shoulder stunning them for 5 seconds. This can occur up to 2 times, for both hook states.
This base DS deactivates from the following:
- Getting fully healed either by yourself or another player.
- Repairing a generator, healing, or booning/cleansing a totem for 5 seconds.
- Sabotaging a hook, and blinding or pallet stunning the Killer to save another Survivor.
- After another Survivor is hooked, as long as you are not currently hooked.
- After getting picked up, or picking yourself up from the Dying State.
- Getting grabbed out of a locker.
- Taking a hit around another Survivor 10 seconds after being unhooked.
Base DS is permanently deactivated for all players after 2 generators have been completed.
So every player will have some form of defense for getting tunneled from both hook states. They will not be able to abuse it or stall the game out due to losing it from getting picked up or grabbed from a locker. If you're healed, you're not getting tunneled. Obviously if you're doing any conspicuous actions you're not getting tunneled. If you are saving another survivor, you're not being tunneled. If another Survivor gets hooked after you, it is no longer considered tunneling.
And the effect needs to be removed at some point in the game before endgame because tunneling still has its place to allow killers to win the game. Tunneling feels really miserable for both new and seasoned players alike and it's completely unnecessary for killers to do early on in the game. But after a certain point, a Killer needs a Kill so this would give them that chance to make it fair.
Thanks for reading, please consider some way to combat early game tunneling without adding just a Perk Band-Aid fix. If not this then something that is in the base-kit for Survivors.
Unless you want to actually kill the game, go for it.

When the killer can camp you to death through your second hook before the meter fills, we have a problem.
This is a meaningless conversation. The feature ends complete face camp tactics, it's not supposed to punish the proxy campers.
-
It really depends on the killer you are playing. I see a lot of players running corrupt to counter this at the start of the trial, maybe give it a shot. I'm usually more of a masochist and run fire up and just go for the straight up 2k, but the choice is yours.
-
Killers need strategy, they have lost a lot of strategy and tunnel mania is basically the final one if you play a low mobility killer. Maybe survivors should be more fair about this, and stop complaining. So what you lost in a game, learn from it and move on thats dbd. I mean that's how it works for killers right, we lose we move on? Why can't you learn too? We have to stop balancing the game based off of single player issues, but more of survivor teamwork or the killer having to strategize well to win. Perks that stun the player while doing their objective is unhealthy just like how I believe perks like jolt and pain resonance are unhealthy too. Both sides have strengths and should be able to use them and not be held back by a meta option.

Killers limited to kicking gens and all these changes to nerf regression stuff is wild.
Especially looking at survivor where you can be hit by virtually anything, any type of weapon/injury and magically heal infinitely while running infinitely. Can we open our eyes please? Some of the matches that last forever is because the killer is keeping pressure on the god survivor mode players, which is their only job, now that gets nicked because survivors can't use logic to outsmart and get the last gen out of the 3.
This really sounds like changes based on outcry and not practicality at all. When is the hand holding gonna stop? Killer doesn't get it that's for sure. Unless you're against bots.
The problem is they are balancing around player feedback surveys rather than balancing through the stats, like they said they would not do. Killers that statistically didn't need any changes got changes. A playstyle that killers had that was valid given the asymmetrical nature of the game was removed while survivors can now utilize any sort of strategy without any restriction. You need someone like Patrick in there who understood what fun was and what dbd thrives on, the drama, the fast death game, the ultra chaos and mental tribulations that comes with dbd. You see the anti camp mechanic is exactly like the early game change mentioned in many q and a's through out pre sbmm days, while I agree with Patrick on this he deemed that a corrupt basekit idea would not be fun whatsoever given how much they tested the damn prototype. Well he was right, the same as the anti camp we have now, removing a lot of the fun in the game overall. They need to stop balancing based off of one players struggles (the killer, or say an individual survivor). Doing this promotes a lack of variety and no reason to further play the game, DBD used to feel so free but now it feels like I'm in chains playing the game and it has become so predictable to where the killer is a generator sorcerer while the survivor has became a hand held experience for the sake of bad players who regardless of any help would end up still losing the game regardless.

Hillbilly received very big buff and Bubba now isn't even close to his level right now.
My main question is - is it possible to buff Bubba in some ways? I don't talk about Rework - just w few tweaks that Bubba needs. I main Bubba since 2019 (something around 2-3k Hours on him) and I would ask about these changes:
1) Chainsaw Sweep Acceleration set to 0.5 seconds instead of 60% of his first charge - it wouldn't nerf duration addons like nowadays...
2) Increase Chainsaw Sweep movement speed by 3-4-5% in base kit and nerf speed addons.
3) Some changes to his addons like Carburetor Tunning Guide, Depth Gauge Rake, The Grease and more...
The thing is that I always thought that they would buff him with the anti camp feature to up his ability in chase, but I guess I was way wrong, sadly bubba will just pretty much be suffering in the high level.

The hard tunnelling has gotten so bad, at least in my soloQ games. To define it, I mean only going for 1 player at 5 gens remaining. It’s a strategy that works… especially against soloQ, it incentivises itself as a 3v1 greatly stacks the odds in the killers favour.
My suggestion would be simple, a BP penalty that removes all BP occurred while pursuing that singular survivor, dependant on a few things. If the first 3 hooks are the same person, if the gens completed are less than 3. Some could argue players could then 99 gens to punish the killer but that would take coordination that wouldn’t be common enough if I’m honest.
what would be some of your suggestions to disincentive hard tunneling?
It is already disincentivized for most of the roster, but killers like clown who have to slow down constantly for using their power well are forced into that playstyle. Maybe approach it from a different perspective, why is it happening? Let's not disincentivize it, because they already have done this to face camping and that made the game even worse. That healing change that didn't go through might be a reason, why go pressure anything when you literally cannot pressure anything? Maybe we should throw killers a bone in chase so they can keep up with the 12 hook idea? But tbh, like Chucky everyone wanted him nerfed and he got nerfed, now all he's doing is obsessing over one survivor because theirs no other way, but before that he was able to have constant pressure.

This isn’t much of a discussion but feel free to leave comments as you wish. As a primary soloQ survivor, I just finished what will be my last game unless something changes to support soloQ players and make the experience better. I am tired of the game ending in five minutes or less. The examples are written all over this forum about how unbalanced this game is. I hope other players will take a stand and quit playing this game and stop dealing with the headache until something changes.
I also find it disgusting that we can get new killers and survivors every few weeks (it seems like) but people are on here pleading for some g** da** changes and you devs are conveniently dragging your feet. Who the he** idea was it to nerf MFT?
NEWS FLASH : if you don’t play swf, perks like that really f’ing helped!!
how about focusing on the player experience. I swear I feel like all you devs are doing is watching footage of YouTubers who have bully squads and decide what’s op that way. BUT WHAT ABOUT THE SOLOQ SURVIVORS WHO ARE DYING MORE THAN ESCAPING BECAUSE THEIR TEAMMATES SUCK!?!?
we have no perk setups to help us when our teammates suck and are getting slaughtered. All we can do is wait for hatch and that sucks and makes the whole match a waste of time. Have you devs ever seen the games where a seasoned killer slaughters the whole survivor team so fast that they (sometimes) let the last survivor go? Out of pity! Disgraceful.
Like so many other players, I really hope things change but until then (if ever) I’m done with DBD. I’m not going to argue survivor vs killer and who has it easier because honestly it’s not about that. You devs are being lazy and paying more attention to making money through adding content instead of player experience and it’s ruining one of the best games of our generation.
You guys can see the player count and you know it’s true. Players are dropping and come back for a brief moment to check out new content then they stop playing again.
Figure out how to bring balance to the game WITHOUT nerfing anything and wizzing off players on either side any further than we are already.
Do you devs even see how toxic those end game chats are?
You guys need to bring balance to the game. Until then, I’m out.
If you are playing solo queue, you cannot expect to win every trial, you need to try to be the last one that dies and also go for the sole survivor/ wake up build mentioned above to raise mmr. Other recommendations would include some information perks, kindred to this day is a complete go to perk and you can see what your teammates are actually doing when that survivor is hooked, you see them not doing anything just wait out the inevitable and rinse and repeat. Hey at least you aint stuck with playing low tier killers, that's been a complete nightmare against teams and far weaker than a solo survivor ever could be.

As I always do with replies that I believe reach a length that falls beyond what is reasonable for a forum discussion about a video game, I'll cut all but the parts I want to most directly address. Additionally, I am going to intentionally avoid discussing the risks of maintaining a mobile phone database with you - I fail to see any progress with that conversation, so there's no point even discussing it, even if my position remains that it would very directly endanger the well-being of people that play DBD. With that in mind:
If you have a better idea mention it, unless you are on the side of the cheaters which I believe you are defending them.
Once again, you misrepresent the arguments of those that support filters or custom perk icons. Nobody is advocating for "cheaters" as a blanket statement. Given you read my prior post, it appears this discussion is entirely about filters, which by vaguely referring to them as cheaters it makes arguments against you sound tantamount to someone supporting having a speed hack turned on all the time, which nobody on here would ever support.
I have had enough of us vanilla players having to play 24 times better than someone who can just easily abuse the exe without consequence.
Cheaters - actual ones, as in the ones using wallhacks or speed alterations and the like - are banned all the time. BHVR can't talk about it, of course - video game hacking is an arms race, as BHVR improve their systems and hackers find workarounds - but be assured they do ban cheaters, as they're often very loud to complain when their account gets rightfully banned for using said cheats.
It's killing the player base and losing bvhr a lot of money.
Except that it likely isn't. At least on Steam, DBD boasts a very stable playerbase, and I'd presume that console DBD is in a similar situation. Were it to be costing BHVR a lot of money, they would be investing more in dealing with these issues, rather than implying crosshair filters are okay, as they did in their most recent AMA.
You guys who keep bringing your monitors up in this discussion are just straight up dramatic and are completely missing the point.
You are either:
- arguing that people are advocating for cheats that get you banned (such as wall hacks, speed hacks, etc), which nobody is.
- arguing that filters should get you banned, in which case "much of what people do with filters can be achieved by most hardware settings on monitors nowadays" becomes a relevant response.
Please, go ahead and point out which of those two options it is.
I agree cheats are awful to go against, but from what your post implies, our definitions of cheating seem wildly different, as I consider BHVR's existing actions regarding cheating to be sufficient.
This is a live service game, there's no amount of convincing that is going to remove mine or many other vanilla players opinions on cheating. If you play non vanilla, you are a cheater plain and simple and should be dealt with immediately, so we don't have to deal with any of these issues in the first place. There's no amount of spam you can type that will change anyone's mind on this issue especially after someone has encountered the said cheaters repeatedly. In the EULA it directly states that any sort of modification to the files of the game is not allowed. You have no hill to stand on and are wasting your time.
-
The system combats face camping, not any other types of camping. Survivor you get to face camp gens without a problem, at least you get to use strategy.
-
@kit_mason said:
It's apparent that we have gotten to a point where cheating is accepted in DBD and seems to be praised amongst the community.
Let's make this abundantly clear first of all - your definition of cheating is "adding cute alternative images to perks" and "making the game brighter or easier to percieve for those with issues with sight" as cheating, and your intentional omission of what you mean by "cheating" is incredibly telling. Nobody is out here in support of blatant cheats - speed hacks, wall, that sort of thing. What the community is entirely indifferent to is perk images or brightness/color alterations.
I will now recommend that we add in a system that traps cheaters and makes them feel extremely useless and will ultimately eradicate the dbd cheating problem forever, this is a live service game through in and throughout and should never ever be able to be modified or even have files being manipulated to gain a huge advantage amongst the vanilla players.
It's not a "huge" advantage. It's at best a slight advantage or a levelling of the playing field. If I brighten my game with my monitor's hardware settings, should I get banned too for having a "huge" advantage? Or am I just playing the game brighter than it was intended?
I recommend a system that with the EULA agreement to authorize a legitimate phone number so players of dbd can be kept in check and if you have anything in your file structure that is not of the vanilla settings to be immediately banned and have all loss of progress across the board to make sure that no cheat is ever allowed again.
This is where your suggestion stopped being ridiculous and began being dangerous. Requiring players to hand over personal details like a phone number, which will have to be verified, checked, and stored long-term by the devs, is a huge cost for preventing people from swapping out the pictures of their perks to slightly different ones, both in terms of actual money but also in man hours to create and ensure this system is working and will not end up leaking the phone numbers of tens of thousands of players, a not insignificant amount of which are in vulnerable groups like LGBTQ+ folk.
Even presuming the system works perfectly and everyone is somehow on board with handing a video game developer their phone number, which many won't be, how many chapter releases would you like to forgo whilst this system is implemented? Two? Three? Maybe a round four?
And, more realistically, the system won't work perfectly. Even should it not leak private data, cheaters will, as they always have, find a workaround. The implication that tying your game to a phone number will prevent cheating is ridiculous because nothing will ever truly prevent cheating once and for all short of perhaps the servers shutting down and the game being done. The risks for a complete lack of benefit highlight that any suggestion along these lines should be heavily and seriously reconsidered.
If you have a better idea mention it, unless you are on the side of the cheaters which I believe you are defending them. The legitimate phone number is a harsh one sure, but I don't see any other way to eradicate the cheaters other than these devs having to hire tons and tons of help which would cost way too much money, bvhr should not have to do this and its players should grow up and stop abusing the game. Look, this is a live service game and it's clear that we need a far better system then the one that we have because the cheaters/modders situation is getting worse and worse with dbd. I have had enough of us vanilla players having to play 24 times better than someone who can just easily abuse the exe without consequence. It's killing the player base and losing bvhr a lot of money. And you can easily find phone numbers on the internet or even through the govt directories so I don't see how this would pertain to any issues of danger. And already, I would rather have my phone number leaked than my ip address manipulated since you can obtain a lot more info than you ever could on that than with a phone number. So already your "dangerous" narrative that you are trying to set is quite ridiculous.
I just want the cheats gone completely, I don't care what you do with your monitor, I only care if its modded content, I want it gone forever along with those players that use it as well. You guys who keep bringing your monitors up in this discussion are just straight up dramatic and are completely missing the point. This game is straight up miserable facing cheaters because anything in dbd that is altered to your advantage brings you up by a mile over the other player (thats not even an exaggeration a literal mile) no monitor setting is going to do that in dbd. Im not doing this for likes, Im not doing this because I want recognition, I want these devs to have more and more options on how to deal with this problem without having to blow a bunch of money. And hey if it's a bad idea im sure they will catch it regardless. Because they have an amazing product here and it would be a shame for more and more players to leave it because they peaked and now constantly face cheaters. It really never had to come to any of this idea if everyone played fair, but they are not and they need to be punished from playing dbd so the actual players that spend money on the game can enjoy the game instead of being discouraged from it.

"territorial killer", you mean proxy camper. Is it that hard to go and play the game instead of being sitted next to a hooked person like an statue? Isnt that boring? Honest question. Please, I will wait for an honest answer.
Certain killers are forced into this playstyle because they simply cannot patrol the map or down fast enough. Trapper, Clown, Hag, Bubba. These killers are great examples of what the territorial cast of killers are, they require some sort of set up or strategy. They basically lose gens for existing. Corrupt basekit could potentially provide incentive to try to leave the hook and maybe play in a more fun way for survivors, but they can't at the moment.
-
As long as we can also get rid of the huge box that survivors have for body blocking Im good with this. I swear these survivors are bigger than clown, you cannot get around them.
-
Unfortunately, they already tried out that prototype and decided that it made the game extremely unfun. BUT, with that said in all fairness the anti-camp mechanic was also a part of a similar prototype design a long while ago that had the same exact issues, but now recently being brought into the game should've easily added in a corrupt basekit mechanic given to having to deal with the anti-camp mechanic being extremely unfun for killers atm. Right now, as a territorial killer it is straight up miserable to deal with this anti camp design and seems to be a result of 1k balance for said killers. At the highest level 3 gens get done first chase regardless forcing the killer into a camp tunnel playstyle the rest of the trial, same as also having a fast first chase BUT as you go for your 2nd scourge hook and then that player who was hooked before body blocks you with off the record removing all of your momentum. For the sake of fairness, the basekit function should be like old corrupt where stays up the whole time regardless of a quick down or not, or maybe you could have it when you go against nonmobility killers. This would be completely fine overall because with the 3 gen solution (im guessing they are just going to add an extra gen to prevent 3 genning). At this point removing so much freedom from killers warrants a basekit function to prevent one sided trials from occurring on the regular.
-
@OnryosTapeRentals No it won't, it will only weed out the players who cheat and cause actual harm to other players. In one fell swoop you would eliminate an unsafe environment for vanilla play. Cheaters right now can access mmr information and ip address of players/streamers and continually face them and ruin their gameplay, stop defending cheaters you are part of the problem. I only believe in right and wrong, this wrong and is hurting vanilla players time with the game, we need to push this.
-
Anything that is associating with the exe file is cheating, reshade uses the exe. Im not referring to your monitor settings, thats not going to make an impact. Reshade/other file manipulation software has many different options that tailor to huge advantages against other players. The only reason I know this is because I mod Skyrim with the Bjorn enb setting, there are over 100's of settings that manipulate the way you want the lighting to look however you would want to. Filters is cheating period.

Where are you seeing that people are defending cheating? There's at least one new topic every week on the forums asking why hasn't behavior done anything about cheaters.
Anytime I see a post about filters or file manipulation, many players overflow your comment sections saying "accessibility" or "its only a small advantage" "bvhr allows it" "It's not a big deal". Where have you been?
-
For how many players that have been defending cheating it's apparent that at this point they will have to make you put in your legit phone number apart of the EULA to prevent modification and cheating. It's an unpopular decision but this should protect it's playerbase that plays FAIR and don't CHEAT.

If you want to nerf tunneling you are going to have to buff most of the roster tremendously, which will mean that survivors are going to dc almost every trial the first time they get downed at 5 gens. Also are going to have to remove body blocking the killer, flashlight saves and sabo, as well as reworking endurance and insta down style play so be sure that you actually want tunneling gone. Remember, that survivor has become an automated easier experience now while killers at the start of trial drowning to get a kill. You will also need the killer role to become easier also if you want tunneling changed.
-
Thats actually not true whatsoever, I play solo a good amount and escaped some good nurses and other teammates were doing quite well also, hell we even escaped a nurse on gideon, required a lot of patience and hiding while knowing when she was using no where to hide, but it was doable. Just be patient, or even run faster gate opening perks and trying to gain that sbmm up so you can get put with better teammates.

This is why killers can reach 500+ winstreaks which is impossible in any decent pvp game, when you see bhvr not touching DS for years thinking a 2 seconds stun is enough you know they're totally clueless, tunneling is overkill with all the buffs it's a shortcut to free wins
devs read their spreadsheets and overnerf random things based on popularity like self care/iron will, but typical blight/nurse main tunneling at 5 gens with 500+ winstreaks is ok
Whos reaching these 500 kill streaks? Are you sure they are not just losing sbmm off stream? Because trust me when you win that much you'll face quite efficient survivors. Or is the person just cheating and not playing vanilla?

Default dbd is too dark. I have no desire to strain my eyes just because someone else wants a “fair game” lol.
Implementing this would encourage more people to play blendettes and crouch in tall grass waiting for hatch and wasting everyone’s time.
You didn't read the post, it is this way for protection for players that play this game legit. If a survivor is trying to avoid a tunneling killer then the game in it's vanilla state will force the killer have to focus as much as possible meaning that you could lose the survivor if you are not paying attention closely, then the music on top of the chase makes it even more harder to pay attention, this is protection for the survivor being tunneled. You use filters or reshade and file manipulation you are under minding that system which will make the trial one sided in your favor. If you are gaining an advantage over someone else you are cheating since DBD can easily become one sided depending on what happens in the trial. "I have no desire to strain my eyes". Absolutely disgusting.

It's really not difficult to understand that disabled people aren't playing with an advantage you silly, silly person.
For example when at the begin of some games they ask to "change your luminosity / contrast until the symbol is barely visible" I always crank mine to the max and don't see the symbols at all. Unless I use an exterior program or filter so I can see the symbol as intended I'm playing at a disadvantage.
Obviously the game of someone compensating for a disadvantage is going to look too bright or whatever to someone with good vision.
If you are so adamant people should stop using filters that aren't considered cheats by the devs or EAC maybe you should be the one who plays against bots so people with bad vision aren't at a disadvantage against you considering you seen to care about fairness so much.
Well, they said the same exact thing about stretch res and looks like they are still playing the game. That was a lie and was a complete load of crap. We can apply the same things to this ridiculous logic. I have astigmatism in my eyes, but that's not going to make me all the sudden cheat, I'm going to have to learn to get around that because I'm not going to hurt the experience for others. Like I said play against bots or even just use the tutorial, but as for the live service portion of the game where players deserve a fair experience maybe just don't play it.

No. Using a legit phone number to play should never happen. Games are not that important. My son tried to switch consoles for overwatch and because he had the same number was unable too. Support closed his ticket without any help. His only option would've been changing his number and there is no way anyone should have to do that for a video game especially when that number is tied to 2fa from banking to pretty much everything these days.
Phone number requirement for gaming should never become a practice.
Yes, it should absolutely, if you have done nothing wrong you have nothing to worry about. Especially in a live service game, how many players have had their identities leaked to the cheaters that hack the servers? I would rather have the phone number given out for my security then have a hacker obtain my IP address thank you very much.

Even old TVs can do this. And when I say old, I mean old.

I don't know about Reshade as I don't use it. But AMD's Adrenaline does afaik.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3587121#Comment_3587121
Stretched Res was an actual modification to the game files. If you are using "filters" by your GPU driver you don't (Reshade does get into the files though). It just detects that you stated the game and changes color temperature, contrast etc to the values you chose as long as you are in the game or as long as you want them (there is a macro to turn it off).
From the last comment I read of you here, you seem to be pretty emotional. Did you encounter a streamer who had their game ultra bright or something? You are aware that I can just change the gamma (brightness value) at my monitor right? Or that I can use filters that come with my monitor? Even (old) TVs have these. It's not like console players are helpless or anything.
You just think that people with vision difficulties have it "easier" with filters because what YOU see is DIFFERENT to what WE see. If I play on Autoheaven, and a remotely dark (=non neon/flashy) character stands beside one of the jungle gym walls or even just rocks with trash I can't see them without concentrating really hard. I asked multiple people if they are able to see them without much effort and they said yes. So this has to do with my vision. I am at a DISADVANTAGE on that realm. Because I see worse than other players.
I tried all in-game options. They just make it worse because I am not color-blind. They make all green shades darker or don't change them making the map even darker for me.
So I use slight modifications to see about the same as people without problems, which to you looks like cheating.
Again: I think what comp players do (desatursting everything but red) can be considered cheating as this is just making things a LOT easier than it should be. But I don't think that slight alterations are like that.
And now, if you can't accept our arguments and that we have other opinions than yourself, I will not talk to you any longer as any discussion with you would be a waste of time.
Then don't play the game, we need anyone in DBD who plays with an advantage over others who want to play the game fair.

While I'd like this option as well, it isn't feasible.
Most of the playerbase is on the consoles, so queue times for PC players would soar. However most of the killers are on PC, so surv queue times on console would also suffer.
Also the main reason in adding in CrossPlay in the first place was to unite the playerbase, not divide it.
I play pc and wouldn't mind this whatsoever, having an advantage over someone is pretty damn lame anyways. Let the long queues begin.

I don't use Reshade, or filters, I play on PC. I am visually impaired and I do not consider the people who use reshade or filters to be cheaters. I am at a much more significant disadvantage than you regardless of hardware used. I do not consider it to be cheating.
Do you know why? Because it isn't.
It is cheating because you have an advantage over someone in the game, and in DBD anything little in the chase can easily make a trial one sided, this is not fair for survivors or the killers since they do not have the protections provided by the base game systems. We can go at this all night; you have no right to claim that is not cheating because you are incorrect. You speak through feelings rather than logic. I am all for the developers to implement filters for all platforms but they are not implemented for most of the platforms therefore should not be allowed, and eventually it's not going to matter because it will be dealt with, more and more vanilla players are quitting the game due to this therefore more and more money is lost due to lack of engagement. This is a live service game and needs to make money, no players=no money. Cheating=Cheating.

Does EAC allow it? Yes. I guess that means it isn't cheating then.
Not true whatsoever, if you have an advantage over the other player it is cheating. It's actual common sense. If it allows it then they have work to do because they'll be bleeding players for survivor and killer. But remember stretch res was allowed until it was removed, this will be next.

Reshade is whitelisted by EAC. EAC doesn't consider it cheating. Deal with it.
Well looks like they have some work to do then.

I don't use filters. Even if I did though it isn't cheating. Deal with it.
It is cheating since you have an advantage over the other player(s). Objectively that makes sense.

What? Filters don't touch the dbd exe. Easy anti cheat couldn't pick it up if it wanted too. It can barely detect actual cheats.
When you use Reshade it does lol, that's how it works for Skyrim and that's how it works for DBD too.

LOL this can't be a real post.
Laugh all you want, but these players are the reason a lot of players can't engage with the game losing bvhr more money overall. This is the best asymmetrical game of all time and it deserves to shine financially and have fairness across the board.
-
@JPLongstreet said:
Unenforceable. Most of the filters and such that our PC cousins can use do not mess around with the game files. So their anti-cheat couldn't check for them anyway.
Do I personally think such gimmicks are actual cheating? As a DBD consoler I want to, but the others are correct about most modern games having wayyyyyyy more options built in. So that's on the devs, not on PCrs. And that's without getting I to any accessibility concerns.
It is associated with your exe. file so it is absolutely enforceable.

no people can play any game they chose and no one should be forced onto single player games because of a disability.
being able to put on the same level as other players who are not disabled is not gaining an advantage.
Then play against only the bots, you have no right to have an advantage over anyone. You are hurting the experience for everyone else and should not be able to play. I'm all for the devs adding in features for the disadvantaged, but I have no respect for anyone who's going to hurt everyone else's experience with DBD. Please stop cheating, you are killing the game by pushing players away from the game leading to lower sales/ engagement overall.

Very strong and totally not condisending argument, not gonna lie. I will imply your logic to any killer complain. "Gens are no problem, the gen time got increased by 10 seconds. So it has to be fine. Use your brain."
They are not 10 seconds increased though since there are many items, addons/perks that can make gens take 40 seconds by one single survivor. But I'm surprised you haven't figured that one out yet. There is no perk for killers that cuts the bt time besides breaking the bt which we all know gives them even more speed regardless.
-
Update the user agreement to mention any sort of file manipulation as so much as a perk icon change, mod, etc. to result in a ban along with losing all of your progress. After that you'll need to provide a legitimate phone number that also has to be certified. As lame as it is, it would protect legitimate play across the board. As well as allowing these devs to finally balance the game, to see what characters, perks, etc. are actually problems within dbd.
-
The devs won't do anything about it, they already let many players cheat and manipulate their file structures to begin with, as well as allowing content creators to even show the players how to do it in the first place. The vanilla players/ console players continually get screwed over while the cheaters get to do what they want to do. I have even mentioned many feedback posts to the devs and still to do this day have not received a reply on how they are going to solve the epidemic of cheating. I'll probably be censored for saying this, but they just don't care about the players that play fair. The fix that needs to go ASAP, make it in the user agreement that any file manipulation whatsoever, could be even so much as perk icon changed will be BANNED and also you will LOSE ALL OF YOUR PROGRESS. After this you will need to put in your legitimate phone number and also provided it to be certified or YOU CANNOT PLAY THE GAME. This will protect vanilla play and allow these devs to actually start balancing the game, and if you're one of those players "MUH ACCESSIBILITY" go play single player, this is a LIVE SERVICE TITLE and only will be there for its paying customers only who don't abuse the system. "BUT I PAYED A BUNCH OF MONEY AND NOW I'M BANNED" well too bad you have hurt vanilla play long enough.
-
The more they have nerfed tunnelling and camping overall makes the action more and more skillful. It's only common sense.
-
The only reason I don't like the perk is for variety sake, but of course this is what happens when you nerf almost anything killer wise to the ground. Survivors have this amazing variety perks, it truly is a great thing that the devs have done for them. But for the killers..... OMG theres not really anything to pick and it has only gotten worse with the anti camp feature. SO survivors maybe be fair and let the devs buff killer a little so we can have some variety.
-
It was addressed, 10 second bt with 10 percent haste. If you can't make that work, it's not anyone's problem. The other way to address this is to buff the low mobility killers tremendously, then you'll just complain that you get downed too fast. The point is using your brain, especially in DBD, don't go in expecting the other side not to bend the scales in their favor. Utilize what you have and never trust. This goes for both sides, gen speed or kill speed.
-
ITs not really that strong lol, going against good survivors it will basically render the perk useless, even solo queues with lack of coordination can handle the perk. Is it annoying? Yeah, but how many survivor things annoy the killer, almost everything.
