They confirmed they were working on this when they did the livestream in PAX last May but nothing has been said since

Would honestly love to see this. I don't play much with friends due to preference differences, as well as us finding custom games to be relatively repetitive and boring, so having that option would be pretty sick.

  • Seems like an ongoing issue:

I can’t join or invite friends since cross progression, says the party doesn’t exist or they don’t even come up on my friends list

From the look of it's a console exclusive problem. I don't think there's a fix for it atm, so unless you can find another way to play with your friend, it looks like you'll just have to soloq for now.

  • According to https://deadbydaylight.com/eula/ .

    "I. Rules of Conduct

While participating in the Game, you also agree to comply with certain rules of conduct that govern your use of the Game (“Rules of Conduct”), for example you may not:

    • eHarass, threaten, embarrass, or do anything else to another user that is unwanted, such as repeatedly sending unwanted messages or making personal attacks or statements about race, sexual orientation, religion, heritage, etc. Hate speech is not tolerated.
    • Disrupt the flow of chat in chat rooms with vulgar language, abusiveness, hitting the return key repeatedly or inputting large images so the screen goes by too fast to read, use of excessive shouting [all caps] in an attempt to disturb other users, “spamming” or flooding [posting repetitive text].
    • Impersonate another person (including celebrities), indicate falsely that you are a BHVR employee or a representative of BHVR, or attempt to mislead users by indicating that you represent BHVR or any of BHVR’s partners or affiliates.
    • Attempt to get a password, access information, or other private information from anyone else on BHVR Services.
    • Promote or encourage any illegal activity including hacking, cracking or distribution of counterfeit versions of the Game and software.
    • Upload files that contain a virus or corrupted data.

    • Improperly use web support or complaint buttons or make false reports to BHVR staff.
    • Use or distribute “auto” software programs, “macro” software programs or other “cheat utility” software program or applications.

There, I've highlighted in bold italics: "Use or distribute “auto” software programs, “macro” software programs or other “cheat utility” software program or applications."

I've also read that they've supposedly stated you can use it, but their anti-cheat may ban you for it; however, according to this, I'd suggest against it.

  • I think this could be an ok idea if implemented correctly, but I don't really agree with your way of going about it, though I do understand where you're coming from. Having the ability to ban the same killer every match would be terrible, both for survivors and for killers.

If this were to be implemented, you'd need to make it so the survivors can only ban one killer at a time. Then, you'd also need to be able to ban a specific killer only once every few matches. So you ban Nurse, let's say, then after that game you ban The Blight, then The Ghoul, then The Knight, and after that Knight game (three games after the Nurse ban), you can ban The Nurse again.

This ban should be a unanimous decision among all four survivors; otherwise, no ban goes through.

Another thing you'd need to take into account is fairness for the killer. If you can have an option to not go against specific killers, then killers would need to have the option of not going against specific perks (DH, DS, OTR, Deli, etc.). So, using the same system we just made for banning killers, you ban one survivor perk each match, with the ban lasting only one match, and the perk you banned requiring three games to be bannable again.

I also believe this should only be available in a different game mode altogether if this were to be added, whether that new game mode be simply competitive, or something unique, idk. But this 100% should not be in the base game.

I don't personally think banning killers or perks should be a feature in the game, but this is just my idea for how it should work if it were added. Maybe if there was a competitive gamemode ever implemented, then there could be some validity, but I honestly don't think there's anything wrong with how it works now. Going against certain killers sucks, sure, but it's not the end of the world. You'll most likely go against a completely different killer right after anyway.

Overall, it's a pretty bad idea, and I 100% do not agree with it, but I figured I'd entertain it nonetheless.

  • Honestly, I don't think this is too much to ask for. I think non-holiday game modes, i.e, Chaos Shuffle, My Little Oni, Lights Out, and 2v8, should be available to play in custom games. They're not holiday-exclusive custom games, and wouldn't really be taking away from the rest of the game. It just adds more options for you and your friends to have fun with.

  • I've seen people argue that he's like Nurse because his gameplay loop can be literally: walk survivor down until they're in his LOS, and then M2 right on them so they have to hit. I personally don't necessarily agree with the comparison. The Nurse takes two hits to down a survivor, but if the Vecna is dead set on using his Vine Attacks, he takes four hits to do so (two hits to activate worldbreaker mode, then another two to down the survivor).

A lot of people also claim he's unloopable, which I also don't agree with. I played him a bit in the PTB and a little after launch, and I found myself getting demolished. You have to be an incredibly patient person to play Vecna effectively, as spamming his Vine Attack can both work for and against you, so while the option is there, you should probably, like… actually aim.

Another person said they see Vecna as a mix of Nemesis and Pyramid Head - which I partially agree with - but I'd see them more as a mix of Artist and Pyramid Head, solely due to his high potential for zoning survivors with Vine Attack spam. Overall, whilst his gameplay loop may be comparable to the Nurse's, his mechanics and strength are 100% lacking compared to hers.

Vecna's power is also a lot more complex than hers, but that also means his skill ceiling is much lower, too. The Nurse's simple power of blinking will likely forever be one of the hardest things to master in this game, and despite how much people may compare them, Vecna will never even come close to her in terms of skill, nuance, and strength, as their abilities are just way too vastly different.

  • Honestly, you guys are completely right. I didn't even know what I was thinking. I do still think there's some validity in my original statement, but not much lol. I wrote my post at like midnight and clearly had a moment of overthinking. Thinking over it a little more, the only perk I can see being reasonable for not activating anti-tunnel perks could maybe be Shoulder The Burden, as of course, at the end of the day, it's not you taking the hook stage, but your teammate. This is again just me having ideas that are quite possibly just completely ridiculous, but fun to throw out there anyway. Thx for indulging my little 1 am delusion, lol.

I agree. I don't understand sculpting well enough to say why it looks wrong, but there's something in the cheeks and jaw that doesn't match the actor's appearance at all. The old Nancy model may or may not have looked like the actor, but it captured the general sense that you get when you look at her, which is that her face has a lot of angles and strong bone structure. I don't even see a resemblance in the new one.

I get what you mean. She doesn't look the same anymore, and her face does look a little off now; however, I'd say that's just because it's not what we're used to for that. We also have to remember that it's not bad just because it doesn't resemble the show. Take Quentin Smith, for example.

    image.png

    ^ His old model

    image.png

    ^ His current model

    =======================================================================================================

Obviously, his new model looks so much better than his old model. His old model was just horrible.

    image.png

^ This was Quentin in the movie. Looks nothing like either model, right? A character looking different in the show vs the game doesn't mean it's bad or wrong. I mean, Robin Buckley looks vastly different in-game than in the Stranger Things show, but you're not complaining about that. Imo, there's nothing wrong with Nancy's new face in the game, it's just different, and different takes adjusting to.

KytLuna, you aren't wrong about 'survivor teams'… that is strong with survivors and a good team will run those perks in coordination, like in comp or swf's…

Now, say that again, only, when playing PUB matches with uncoordinated survivors, not speaking to each other… >:D

Really what is needed there is a different game balance between SWF and PUB… because literally, they are just different games at that point.

I get this, honestly, but I think it's larger than that. A lot of games, even soloq public matches, almost always have at least three survivors running Spring Burst/Lithe and DS/DH, or some kind of gimmick build that just destroys your killer games. If you're not playing a high-tier killer, every game you play is gonna be terrible.

Just the other day, I was playing a Bubba match, and some Mikaela brought both Chemical Trap and Bada Bada Boom, which gave her so much distance on me for literally nothing. Another game I played as The Artist had three different survivors running Spring Burst, two of which had Dead Hard, and the other had Decisive Strike.

The people in that game were not in a SWF; that was just their soloq builds. Unless you're going against some bad survivors, you're pretty much always losing. What makes it worse is how horrible the matchmaking system is, but that's a conversation for another thread.

One thing you said I agree with is balancing. BHVR should add a competitive mode for the game, allowing some relief for those of us who want to be able to play casually with a chance of winning without needing to run meta builds or sweat super hard for that.

I've recently found myself maining The Artist, and unfortunately, with the current state of the game, if I want to go for wins with her, I find myself needing to slug and tunnel a decent amount. Do I enjoy doing so? Not particularly. Is it pretty? Also no. Do the survivors in my game have fun when I do so? I'd say up until they realise what I'm doing. But survivors have so many advantages over killers in every format of the game, it is not even funny at this point. Killers literally NEED to resort to tunnelling to win, and that's just a fact at this point.

  • Unfortunately, unless BHVR introduces IP/hardware bans to the game, cheaters will almost always be in the game. If I recall correctly, there was a period of time where Dead by Daylight was completely free on Xbox and Epic Games. Cheaters took advantage of this and botted hundreds of accounts they could use to swap to if they got banned. So right now, there is literally nothing to be done about cheaters.

It really sucks, and I think BHVR should be held accountable and forced to do so much better, but unfortunately, that's not really feasible. The most we can do is hope they eventually introduce hardware banning and IP banning. It won't solve the issue entirely due to VPNs and hardware spoofing, but it will definitely help A LOT to reduce the amount of cheaters.

  • This is so accurate, honestly. I think holding the Vine Attack isn't that much of a problem. It's frustrating, sure, but if you're just patient as a survivor, then you can handle it well. However, spamming the Vine Attack is a bigger problem. It's a great way of zoning a survivor into another area that puts the survivors into a worse area, right? Several killers can do that, e.g. Artist. But the difference is that The Artist has a reasonable cooldown on her Dire Crows, while Vecna has virtually zero cooldown on his Vine Attack.

In my opinion, Vecna should have a longer cooldown on his power, even if only by like half a second. This would encourage more skill expression in the character, forcing a requirement for higher accuracy and precision, as well as encouraging patience and better power management. Vecna's biggest problem is that he's such a strong character with such a low skill ceiling.

He's Nurse (Vine Attack spam), Drac (holding said Vine Attack), Artist (potential for zoning survivors), and Pig (undetectability in The Upside Down) thrown into a blender and vomited out with little thought for balancing and tuning. It's the same issue with Krasue, where she had almost zero fatigue on her powers and extremely low cooldowns on launch.

While Vecna isn't exactly as bad as Krasue's launch, I think even with a few nerfs, he'd still be at least high B-tier - mid/high A-tier.

  • @Shroompy said:

Maybe as an add on, but base kit seems a bit much. He already has a lot going for him as is

I agree with this. Vecna's kit is already incredibly strong. Allowing him to hit under hook in the base kit with his Vine Attack would be impossible to go against because of its AOE. If it was done, they'd have to implement it so it can only deal damage to one of the survivors there (could be decided by random roll, hook stage, or targeting only the unhooker/unhookee).

  • The DC timer system has changed drastically recently, and it is honestly a little ridiculous. From my experience with cheaters, almost every one that I've reported has been banned. But, unless BHVR introduces hardware/IP bans, then it will never be resolved, as these cheaters have hundreds of accounts they can swap to if they get banned. I came across some guy not long ago on YouTube who was straight-up streaming himself hardcore cheating on DBD and had been doing so for literal years at this point. He's likely been banned hundreds of times, but as I said, these cheaters have infinite accounts they can swap to when they're banned.

  • I think it's to do with when the killers came out. Trapper, Wraith, Nurse, Plague, Pig, Freddy, Bubba, Huntress, and Hag are all the killers that use the default chase theme. These killers also came out incredibly early in the game's history, or were there from the start. It seems Myers is a bit of an outlier in this, as he was the first ever licensed killer, but he does have his own chase music.

If those killers still use only the default chase music in the big 2026, I find it highly unlikely they'll eventually make unique chase music for them, especially for Freddy, Bubba, and Pig (as they're licensed killers and would of course need permission from the licensor to make any changes to the character).

So in Pig's case, I wouldn't say it's because she's not a priority, but just that it would be too difficult logistically to manage that after she's been out for so long with zero major reworks or additions to her license, while also managing the fairness of doing the same for the other licensed killers in this context.

  • I did a little research and I learned that this could be a refresh rate issue. Apparently having your PC on 60Hz instead of 120/144Hz can create a little input lag. If your monitor is compatible with 120/144Hz refresh rates, I'd say absolutely try changing that to solve the problem. Lmk if this helps!

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/463592/survivors-actually-get-punished-for-being-tunneled-out

bc the game favors killer, they don’t give a rip about us survivors just bc they have been in matches with comp players, lets be honest 🙄

This is just incredibly untrue. Survivors have always been favoured in the game. If you don't like being tunnelled, there are like 7 anti-tunnel perks you can use to prevent that. Don't like being slugged? Well, there are another hundred or so ways to solve that, too. I agree it's dumb the OP is being punished for getting tunnelled, but trying to claim the game favours killers is one of the hottest takes I think I've ever seen related to this game. A strong survivor team is almost always going to win against a strong killer as long as that killer isn't a Blight or Nurse.

  • I agree on two things you mentioned. Firstly, I don't think he should be able to spam his Vine Attack. It's constant and has practically no cooldown. Imo the Vine Attack should 100% have a longer cooldown, but only by about 250 - 500ms.

Secondly, I also agree that when in worldbreaker mode, using his Vine Attacks should make the timer move a little (but not take you out of worldbreaker mode entirely). This would prevent it from being spammed and force the Vecna to use his power a lot more carefully.

The thing is, Vecna's power, due to his ability to spam it, is great for zoning. I've seen him compared to The Nurse a lot - walk down survivor until in LOS, and then drop power on their heads - but I'd argue his ability to zone survivors so effectively also makes him somewhat comparable to The Artist, which obviously, if a survivor is in her Dire Crow's flight path when she launches them they will be instantly injured, and knowing this you can use her ability to force survivors into a direction of your choosing.

Hitting a survivor with Vecna's vine attack honestly isn't that difficult as long as you're patient with it. When Vecna is spamming it, it's safe to assume he's trying to drop it right on you, so you can look at him, take note of the direction he's looking with his red stain, and go the opposite direction. He needs to be balanced a little, sure, but I wouldn't say he's as strong as Nurse, just comparable to her. Vecna is 100% loopable as long as you're half decent at survivor (which I'm unfortunately not lol). I'd say he's high B - A tier, but definitely not up in S tier.
