There is no winning or losing in this game...it's about getting points and rank DOES NOT matter. That's the mistake most players make thinking you're supposed to win or lose.
-
Sadly, a killer choosing one player to "farm" with is 100% bannable but no one reports it. If you're the "one" why complain? The game is about getting points, literally the only goal of the game.

Well, StarCraft 2, which is too much known for being competitive..... So I know what I'm talking about.
I used to play StarCraft 2, the only "casual" lobbies are vs your friends, that's not an actual casual lobby. Apex has casual lobbies filled with sweats. I've never seen a true casual lobby in ANY game honestly.

SBMM will bring in more killers cause of the simple fact that currently a swf with 3 red ranks and a brown will face a low rank killer every game. SBMM will stop that and the 3 red ranks using the baby survivor will be forced to go against a red rank killer. SBMM will allow new killer players to actually play against new survivor players unlike the current MMR. People act like SBMM is a bad thing, but the only complaints are from red ranks who don't belong in red rank and are babies about being proven they're not as good. Current ranks are based on hours played, not skill, and favor those who literally sit at home all day. Plus, once in red ranks, people just do minimum tasks to keep their rank,. Now they will actually be forced to participate.

Here is a video of the community manager and game director reading off a list of things that are not bannable. Which by default makes it AS INTENDED, and take special note of the fact that they snark and laugh at the fact that people are reporting things like tunneling, camping, slugging. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRFGT9JZZZo&t=79s
Unbannable does NOT mean intended. Lmao May wanna rewatch and reread bannable offenses. If you prevent a player from playing the game deliberately then it is bannable. If you facecamp, that's bannable unless it's an end game necessity, tunneling is bannable if you're taking out a person at 5 gens undone but is allowed near endgame. Watch the RE stream kid, they even say autobanning, with vid proof, will be used to even more thoroughly get rid of these traits. And they use the words unnecessary camping and tunneling exactly. And yes, they ARE banning campers and tunnelers and sluggers with video evidence. I've seen it in action several times since RE came out. A cocky camper says they can't be banned and then within an hour after I turn in the video proof, many have showed me their 30 day+ bans for exactly what I reported.

Show me where they said it. I've seen every stream by BHVR and NEVER have they said that was how game was intended. Quit believing your own BS LMAO

Nop, I don't want SBMM because there isn't an unranked matchmaking.
If there is a ladder, quick game matchmaking should exist too. Because SBMM will emphasize competitive gameplay, so players will sweat more overall. "Dude, sweat people will go anyway in unranked games for easy games and bully" that would be a super minority, but overall it would be more enjoyable for everyone.
Even in super competitive games, the unranked games are far more nicer than the ranked ones, and hardcore people that go in unranked to bully are super rare.
Good bye the 3/5 fun and cool games, hello 3/4 hardcore games with SBMM.
I don't know what games you play, but most games with casual lobbies are filled with sweats who can't keep up against other sweats.

The point of the game is to get as many BPs as you can, not down all 4 survivors as fast as you can or get all 5 gens done as fast as you can. It's players like you that make this game a joke cause y'all think camping and tunneling is necessary, or gen rushing.
If players in general didn't make up their own rules this game wouldn't be so horrible but killers and survivors players alike forgot what the point of the game is.
Do you see the contradiction here?
What contradiction? The point of the game is to get BPs, there are no rewards for gen rushing, slugging, camping, or tunneling they all lead to minimum BPs and depipping.

I think we can all agree Dead by Daylight has it's fair share of technical problems and glitches, but there's one huge issue that's really affecting gameplay in a harsh manner. And I'm already sure I'm gonna get such positive and understanding responses for this, but it needs to be said.
Within the past year or so, every single round I have seen at least one toxic survivor. The only exception being rounds where I just completely steam roll a bunch of babies, and even then they still try to be toxic. This whole Streamer/Gamer personality, where every single "victory" (even dropping a pallet that doesn't even get a stun) neds to be over celebrated with t-bagging and clicking, survivors that know they outrank the killer feel the need to flashlight click and t-bag and whatever they possibly can think of to bully the killer into giving up.
I know complaining about it means nothing and will likely only encourage people to do it more, but seriously, what is the goal? What is the mindset? You know you outrank the killer by a lot, you know the killer is powerless and very frustrated, so what do you do? Antagonize, bully, mock, anything you can do to drive their face into the mud.
I swear PHub has a subsection that's just footage of Survivors looping and t-bagging killers. There has to be the way people act. It's just so sickeningly toxic. Why do you feel the need to punish people for playing the game and trying to learn? Why do you feel the need to scrub your victory in their face and mock them for not being able to handle four people who each individually have ten times the play hours?
People love to complain about new killers face camping and tunneling, but I get it. I don't support it, but I understand why they do it. You're so brutally punished for doing anything else, so why not get a kill or two by face camping rather then actually chase and end up getting looped, t-bagged, clicked and gen-rushed?
Honestly, with the Gen speeds being screwed up and this on top of it, the game just isn't fun anymore. And that really hurts. I love this game so much and I want to see it keep growing, but it just isn't fun anymore. You try at all and you just get screwed over by the match making and gen rushing, then bullied and mocked by toxic survivors on top of that. I seriously concede the match and open the gates, and they STILL sit there clicking and running around, desperately trying to get me to do something so they can watch me fail.
This disgusting playstyle and undying need to rub in everyone's face how good you are at the game is just ruining Dead by Daylight. New killers are punished for trying to learn the game and any kind of effort to try is met with ruthless toxicity. It's just not fun to try so hard just so four people can rub one out watching your failure to deal with four people who each outmatch you alone.
I'm not even gonna bother trying to request the behavior stop, asking gamers to stop being toxic is like asking the Earth to stop rotating, but it just needed to be said. I used to love the game and look forward to getting on each day, now I dread it. Rounds used to be 15-20 minutes, super fun back and forth gameplay that was a struggle for both sides but still achievable with effort. Now it's just a mad scramble to do as much as possible before the gates are open in 5 minutes. You either steamroll a bunch of newbies or get your face ground into the mud by toxic streamers. I was on the verge of just quitting the game altogether, but Pinhead actually turned out to be a very cool, well-balanced killer.
Yes, this is just a rant post, yes I am aware no one cares and this isn't going to change. it just sucks to now hate a game that I used to love so dearly. I still play because it's still a great game, but now I end up forfeiting 80% of the rounds I play, because I'm not gonna sit there and flail around just so some red rank can bully me and rub one out. 3 minutes into the match I just go and sit at the exit gates and wait ten seconds for the final gen to go off so I can open the gate and wait another ten minutes for all the survivors to get over their desperate attempts to bait me into trying so they can bully me further.
This isn't fun. This is all I've gotten for the past year or so. It's making me dislike the game, and I really hate that. It's way too good a game to be consumed by this Streamer/Gamer personality. It's getting a bad reputation.
Seriously, people complaining about TBagging and flashlight clicking are just sad. It literally has no effect on your game whatsoever. If you're worried about your feelings getting hurt, DON'T PLAY VIDEO GAMES, and learn to be an adult.

But see here's the thing, blaming killers for playing in a way in which the devs DESINGED this game to be played makes no sense. Because sure they could play none toxic like I do, but I don't blame them for playing toxic, when the devs literally made this game so it was the prime way to play. I'm saying that the way to fix it is to simply fix the way this game is designed so toxicity is extremely hard to do, and you will have to go out of your way to do it. And it can be done very simply by changing the hooks to act the exact same way that cage of atonement does. That 1 change will nearly completely eliminate tunneling and camping.
Quit saying the game was designed for camping and tunneling, maybe when trapper was the only killer, but ever since the game is very playable without the above fake strategies. Perks help killers just as much as the survivors. A lot of killers use BBQ which isn't useful on 90% of the killers. Playing for a 3 gen and don't worry about the other 4 gens will work almost every game and no need for camping or tunneling. The lack of knowledge in these forums is insane.

This game will NEVER be competitive and the only "tourneys" change the rules of the game drastically.

There are a LOT of PC cheaters, and you will run into them if you have cross play off. All PC players need to be on their own servers cause there are a lot of cheats, cause it's easy to do on PC and there's no such thing as anti cheat. The game is in a bad state cause if this.

The problem is he has massive sway with the devs. They were even watching his stream during the ptb.
Name a single survivor meta perk that is "earned" NOTHING a survivor does is "earned". But killers must go through multiple hoops to get a perk to proc once with a 20 minute cooldown after.
Do bones of GTFO when the gens are done. Survivors hate it so much because they want to make a "sick" hook rush bt body block play out the exit for the youtube montage.
I guarantee if NOED became meta then survivors would equip one of the multiple totem perks or a map and it wouldn't be an issue. Even as it is it isn't a problem for SWF. How many times did they cleanse all 5 totems during their hardcore survivor challenge?
Deliverance, counterforce, adrenaline, flash bang, Detective's Hunch...there are many perks on both sides that have to be "earned" before use. Having to perform an in game action to activate is the definition of earning a perk. NOED requires nothing is what OTZ means. NOED really isn't any good anymore anyways with all the totem hunting perks and decent players. My SWF will have all 5 totems gone in first minute. Its surprising more survivors don't totem hunt, but most players don't play this game correctly: FOR MAXIMUM POINTS!
-
Campers and tunnelers are on every level sadly and it's used by people who thinks it's strategic...maybe when 3 gens are done, but most do it all game and should lose EVERY game if they do. It only works in solo queues and never works against swfs. The players who say it's strategic just can't play the game the way it's meant to be played, and think they're in the right. Until BHVR actually punishes useless camping and tunneling this game is going to continue going downhill.

-
Can't help but laugh at all the people who still think rank matters. It NEVER has but hopefully someday will. Rank is earned by hours played, not doing specific things, so there are many red rank potatoes just like there are godlike brown ranks. The ranking system is a joke all the way. SBMM is weeding out the players that don't deserve the ranks they have I.E. Brown ranks going against red rank because they're smurfing, or red ranks who do nothing but safety pip are getting paired against like-minded bad players. It works, plain and simple, people just don't like being proven they're not as good as they think they are

It's not growing, population only rises for a week or two during a new release and then it drops drastically.
But as for the topic: My biggest concern is cross play. Get rid of PC players, sorry, cause there's just too much advantage and a lot of wall hacking and resolution stretching going on. It won't hurt the game any if PC only played PC, cause other games have done it just fine.

'Since killers like to say camping and tunneling are legit strategies, which they aren't, BHVR should just create a mode for those players with no points given'
Ah yes, and here we see another Survivor main acting like facts don't exist, and demanding players be punished because their feelings were hurt. Here's two hard facts for you:
- They are legit strategies
- BHVR has said they are legit strategies
Sorry. You're subjective feelings over camping and tunneling don't change objective facts.
BHVR never said they are legit strategies they just said they aren't bannable. Hell, in the RE dev stream they even redacted that by saying some forms of camping and tunneling are gonna be autobannable. The reason being is because they're bannable offenses include keeping a player from playing the game, which is what facecamping and off hook tunneling 100% are. I play both sides equally and don't need to camp or tunnel to get 30k+ points. Don't even have to get 1 kill to get a perfect max point game. Same with survivor, can get max points and still die. You two sound like entitled killers that play the game just to be toxic...if you aren't getting 30k points on average as killer, you're not playing it right and probably camping and tunneling. Use the best perks for the killers abilities and there's no need to camp or tunnel ever. Most killers use BBQ, which to me is junk cause it deviates from applying gen pressure. Why go across map when that gen won't help you get the 3 gen you should be playing for. The good killers will let 3 or 4 gens go and outplay survivors on the last gen by forcing them to 3 gen themselves. That's REAL strategy and is how the game is truly meant to be played
-
I've seen "smart" zombies and "dumb" zombies. I agree the AI is horrible, but never noticed the zombies being attracted to noise. I've just always had to walk them away from what they're camping.
-
@dspaceman20 said:
I don't think this can work based on what others have said
The only meaningful way to stop tunneling is to slow the game down. I'm going to assume that most killers tunnel because of how fast gens seems to go by. The more gens are completed the more the killer is going to Tunnel in order to get an advantage. So if there is a way to slow down the game then killers would find tunneling as unessacary since they have the time to get 12 hooks. This is ignoring tunneling to be toxic though.
Most killers don't tunnel cause of gen pressure. Most killers tunnel because they have no understanding of the game's true killer strategies and because rank doesn't matter. Most campers/tunnelers are in brown or red ranks. Brown because they're new and red because they want to stay red and easiest way is to do least amount of work possible. Point of the game is NOT to kill everyone or do all gens as fast as possible but to get the most points possible from all aspects of the game. Since killers like to say camping and tunneling are legit strategies, which they aren't, BHVR should just create a mode for those players with no points given. Then they can camp and tunnel to their hearts content.

Other then trapper.*
Its really stupid that a perk can turn a killer's power against them like Dead hard can against trapper.
It also goes against their stated new design principles of having a perk hard counter a killer's power entirely(The whole iron will change is a mess I don't want to touch).
Don't trap pallets or windows...there are much better places to set traps where dead hard isn't effective. Dead Hard definitely does not counter trapper in the least if trapper is played correctly. Hell Trapper is the easiest to use Dead Hard against the person who used it.

Survivors: Whine about killers not letting survivors have fun by just playing the game and doing their objective of killing them.
Survivors when it comes to making sure killers are also having fun: I sleep.
First...where is it written the objective is to kill the survivors? I can get a perfect game as killer with 8 hooks and no kills...the objective of the game is to get as many points as possible. Sadly, people put there own rules and objectives into the game and none are correct.
Second, not part of quote, camping and tunneling is actually the worst two strategies for a killer. Killers who have to do either are just not good. Same with survivors gen rushing, let em, they won't pip cause like I said before it's about points. Surprisingly it's the "veterans" of this game who have lost the ideology of what the game is meant to be. If it was a kill or survive game it'd be F13, which as far as I know this isn't.
This game is on the verge of dying, population only rises during events and dlcs, and then back to it's 20-30k players which is very low. Devs need to fix a lot of bugs, which won't happen, and players need to not be so try hard. There are NO rewards for ranks so rank means nothing as it always has but people don't get that.
Also, the bannable offenses contradict each other. Camping, tunneling and slugging are not bannable, yet it states if you prevent a player from playing the game, which all 3 are, then it is bannable. Yes strategic camping, tunneling, and hatch slugging I get after a few gens are done, but doing any at 5 gens is just bad gameplay and needs to be addressed, but how is the question.

Pallet camping before would mean a trade of a hit and stun not this pallet vacuum bs.
All of you survivors that think this is fair, play some games as killer and witness it first hand.
I play killer as much as survivor. Either work on your lunge timing or respect the pallet. Killers who complain about the stuns aren't doing it right is all.

Does that mean that better players have to face the best ######### killers every single time….and can‘t have fun even once a ######### month? This is just honestly bs ngl… skill based mm is the worst decision ever…you want to face some noobs and some skilled players a good balance between those 2 is what makes a game fun and challenging at the same time. You shouldn‘t have to sweat every damn game…especially in solo queue where you get bad teammates anyways but obviously the best ######### mlg killer…
Actually that is how match making should always be in all games. You wanna be red rank and think you're deserving of it then you should only play against those of your skill level. SBMM will be a godsend to this game if they incorporate it. Lot of red ranks don't deserve to be past yellow, and their test SBMM proved it.

a few games don't have crossplay with PC because console players fearmonger about it
in a thousand hours as a PC dbd player, I've encountered 3 cheaters
I've never encountered a cheater on Brawlhalla (the most popular PC fighting game)
I've never encountered a cheater on Tekken 7
I've never encountered a cheater on Left 4 Dead 2
The only game in which I've encountered many cheaters was Team Fortress 2
Console players just love to pretend it's rampant, partially out of competition and partially out of envy
I was a PC player and I know the signs of cheats on DBD. A lot of em use wall hacks and speed hacks. Y'all just don't know all the cheats available. Some are minor like wall hacks but if you know what to look for you'll realize a LOT of PC players use something. Fighting games have very few cheats cause nobody plays em. Look at the top games like COD, Apex, Fortnite, GTA...they have separate servers for PC players only cause the cheating is so rampant. Wake up, there is no such thing as a PC gamer. I run into a few cheats here every day and they get banned right after I send my video proof. That's the key, proof, and I record every match.

They get out, then since there is no other killer they re-enter my lobby, and they quit the lobby again, 2/3 or a lot more times.
Then the lobby suddenly closes, with a message of an "unexpected situation", like if the anti cheat found a third party software or something else (bug?)
WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITH SURVIVORS DODGING LOBBIES AND "KNOWING" THAT IT'S YOU PLAYING TWINS, SPIRIT OR WHATEVER?
If you're playing brown ranks it still reveals who the killer is each game in the hints until you reach yellow rank. Lot of swfs use a brown rank just for this. Why you complaining, killer knows what survivors and items are being brought in, only fair that survivors know who the killer is, and should be a permanent option honestly.

Why do people say very few people use VPNs or cheats on PC?! That's the biggest lie going around. VPNs and cheating are so rampant most games don't allow PC cross play.

So you would rather hooks get removed and killers just slug all 4 survivors til they die then. Since being on the hook isn't an integral part of survivor gameplay.
So sitting on a hook to you with a facecamper is good game play to you? I play both sides and get plenty of 4ks without facecamping or tunneling. I get no points for standing by a hooked survivor and neither does the survivor. You get points for hooking and unhooking, not for standing still or hanging. Hooks are there to help with pointing aspects of the game not just for killing, which isn't the purpose of the game either.
-
RCPD is one of the worst maps in the game but if console players had the Beta tests like PC players, if wouldn't be as bad as it is. They shouldn't allow PC players an option to get to know the new killer, survivors, or maps before anyone else. They already have enough advantages that this shouldn't be a thing.

Part of a survivor's gameplay loop is being on the hook. Saying that being on the hook doesn't count as gameplay is just wrong.
Not to mention that survivors still have options while hooked. In 1st state they can attempt to unhook themselves. In 2nd state they can give up struggling to die early.
Do you get points for staying on the hook....no....therefore it is NOT an integral part of the game. Actions that give points are the actions that matter. Facecamping is just dumb unless you literally have no other choice. Haven't even been playing this game a year and understand it better than most who have been playing since Day 1. Lol
-
Can't help but laugh at the people who use "the way the game was made to be played." If the game was meant for Killers to get a fast 4k or survivors to get a quick 5 gen and get out there wouldn't be a point system. The point of the game is to use point earning strategy on both sides. There's plenty of time to get 12 hooks on any game if you're using the right perks and playing the killer to his/her strengths. BBQ is not a great perk, hell it's a trash perk just for BPs, cause a smart killer won't need it. If survivors are gen rushing they'll usually depip or safety and get jack for points. If a killer is spending his time facecamping or tunneling one player they will have the same result. The good players understand how the game is REALLY meant to be played while the rest are the "toxic" players who THINK they know how it's played. And for those who get mad at flashlight clicking and teabagging, seriously, they're doing nothing to stop you from playing. Quit being such privileged crybabies.
-
Depends on the situation. If your dcing because you don't like map or killer then you should put in an offering or not play this game, inexcusable DC. Now if you're being facecamped or tunneled for no reason except that the killer is toxic then by all means DC. No point in giving the toxic killer points if he doesn't want to play the game the way it's meant to be played.

I understand the complaints for camping, but I just gotta say this:
Anything you could possibly come up with has been tested and shot down because it's too exploitable.
You may argue that it's not, but keep in mind there are killers who sometimes can't leave the hook because the A Team won't leave or hide, they could forcefully punish the killer just by being stubborn.
It's too exploitable.
I agree that some forms of camping are legit but facecamping should have a major penalty of some sort like no depip for the survivor due to it. It's not fair to punish the survivor for a trash killers actions. If there are survivors around the hook then it's a defensive strategy but there is absolutely no strategy to facecamping and is usually a guaranteed loss. Plus if you read the "rules" of the game camping and tunneling are not bannable but if you forcefully prevent a player from playing it's a bannable offense...which is what facecamping is, so BHVR just needs to actually enforce it.
-
Might wanna wait a couple weeks after event. Game will be at half population again unless they fix EVERYthing that is wrong with the game, which is a lot. Population will always jump during a new DLC or event.
And as for the PC versus console debate, it's definitely takes more "skill" to play console because they don't have all the game enhancing perks that PCs have. And as for cross play, many of the top games have dropped PC from cross play all together, which is how it should always be. PC players have too many advantages, and it's too easy to cheat, which will never be stoppable.
-
@Snowbawlzzz said:
