thing is so far the only thing you can really do when you got a guard on your butt is run away, so, banner isn't an option most of the time (are they supposed to phase through vaults btw?)
They are, yeah. It's supposed to be like a Pinhead just phasing through the vault thing.
And I guess it depends on whether or not you have a thing you can run the guard around to get to the banner, which is.. situational. I dunno, man, it's a good camping power.
-
Have one guy distract the guard and another guy go for the save.
Or if you're feeling brave, get the guard's attention, wait for the banner to spawn and use it to help with the unhook if you're alone in the save.
I haven't played against enough knights to know. And the ones I have played against were not very good at camping.

Yeah, because you started clapping for the guy who sounds like he wears a Trapper mask in real life after a whole thread of "but it's cute when I do it".

yea i don't get it, someone bring a mori oh no they brought a mori
now instead of hooking me a third time they gonna get a cool small animation oh no so scary
sure i would understand if the mori would be a sign of tunneling but let's be honest the last i saw a mori as a survivor was i think 4 months ago.....and they didn't even use it
and since im not understanding your point of view please do explain.
Okay.
People bring Moris because they want to use them. They bring Ebonies because they want to kill everyone, otherwise, why would they bring an Ebony? They have it, so they want to use it.
This has been the case for everyone I've seen bring an Ebony.
Given that, I feel like erring on caution and not assuming the person bringing the ebony is gonna goof around and not want to kill everyone is a fair assumption.

since when was a mori the sign of tryharding?
doesn't a mori mean you're just gonna get tunneled, which in fact i didn't?
Who brings a mori who doesn't plan on using it?
-
I don't usually see a Mori and imagine the other player is going to "just play around".

I spared a team, got them all in snowmen, tried to have a snowman race at the exit gate but they all gave up and started a high-five conga line halfway through.

Yes I do.
Like everyone I have horrible matches against 'those' kinds of survivors who make the game a misery and while still tilted I vow to take revenge on every survivor and have no mercy.... Then I get obvious babies and I just cant bring myself to be mean to them and I often end up letting them go too.
There is nothing more adorable than a baby survivor that hides in the most ridiculous place making loud noises as they are injured and they think you didn't notice them lol.
I would rather give people a positive experience to balance out the toxicity we all experience every day. I have enough hours in the game to the point where I don't really care about 'winning' beyond doing a challenge/adept and would rather good experiences over destroying opponents
The most adorable baby survivor I faced was this one David while I was Spirit.. and I honest to god think it was his first ever match of Dead by Daylight. He would actually try hiding behind thin lightpoles and have the top of his head sticking up behind windows. I got a kick out of phasing behind him a couple times, but I couldn't bring myself to even down him.

Yeah you are no doubt right here and latency is likely a factor, as well as me just not actually being on point for what the game considers should be a hit. I came from shooters like CSGO and PUBG to DBD so I feel my aim is not the worst even if I would never claim to be a pro...
I've got no doubt your aim is solid, but the travel time of the spear is the real killer. It's incredibly hard to visualize just how far and how fast a spear travels, since it's such a thin projectile, so you mainly have to go by feeling and making mental marks on the ruler with every landed shot. You have to hesitate to make the mental calculations and adjust for travel time before every shot if you're not super familiar with it, and that's gonna lose you a lot of potential hits.
So you really do just kinda have to go for it. Eventually the calculations come quicker and quicker, and you familiarize yourself with the travel time until you don't have to think about it. It's rough to adjust to, but it's pure serotonin to hit those sharpshots.

It exposes them at a certain range but in my experience it is very difficult to get value from it. Shots at max range seem to miss for no apparent reason so I suspect there is some RNG factor there
It could be just slightly past max range, or a slight miscalculation with the travel time of the spear, weirdness with the running hitbox, or even just latency. But I don't think RNG is much of a factor with 'Slinger's spears.
You just kinda gotta feel the spear. It makes sense after long enough. Just a bit of a pain in the ass to get there with how punishing it is to miss.

Survivor perk: Better Choices
"Upon being the first survivor down at the beginning of the trial, you are removed from the game. A bot replaces your husk, and retains your perks and items. The game closes itself for the next 24/36/48 hours, and Civilization 6 is automatically opened."

I thought the coin was garbage, what does it do again?
It used to expose the survivor if you spear them from 16 meters away-- with Slinger's max range being 18.
They changed it to 12 meters. Still tough, but far more doable.

I've never intentionally understood a single thing in my life, thank you very much.

It’s quite simple really. She used to be good enough to compete against really good survivors and then she was overly gutted and now she’s not. That’s it. Not viable anymore. She used to be able to make plays happen and now she’s in the other 90% of the killer roster that relies on survivor mistakes to win. She also used to feel rewarding since you felt like you felt like it was a mind game between the two players but now since they can hear you the whole time there is literally zero mind game whatsoever. All you’re doing doing is trying to phase faster than they can react since they now know where you are the entire time, hence why people run the speed addons on her during phase now. There used to be some unique game play in her design and it’s now a shell of that. The “ real spirit players play her now and the nerfs just removed the players that wanted easy wins” thing that tends to get regurgitated ad nauseum on the forums is not true whatsoever even though I’m sure you’ll hear it. People just have a loathing hate for Spirit and it’s easier to make excuses than it is to take responsibility for not knowing how to play against spirit. She’s still better than a large portion of the killer roster, that’s just not saying much.
It's been a year, man.
It wasn't your fault.
You have to forgive yourself and move on. You have to wake up.

I tend to agree with this.
I still do encounter Spirits who absolutely destroy my random solo team and they sure don't feel like a 'nerfed' killer.
I mean, she still plays the same way. Her addons are cooler. MDR and DCB are absolutely terrifying. The other side was just allowed to participate, too. And we got a damn good theme out of it.
Average guessing fans crumbled. Average Spirit enjoyers flourished.
-
Because people heard the word "nerf" and we found out who the real Spirit mains were.

No problem at all, I did ask for advice too so it all helps even if not specifically with adept.
I will try those addons as I am ignorant to what his best are and I run whatever lol...
Some good tips there otherwise though, thank you! All makes sense and yeah it maps obviously make a big difference as does RNG
His other addons aren't necessarily bad, but they just don't have as strong of an impact as cutting down on that massive reloading timesink. Reload/reload has pretty much been the de-facto best Slinger addons until the Coin got buffed to actually be reasonable.. which makes it kind of terrifying now.
But yeah, hope it helps. I got my Adept before the nerf (though DMS and Gearhead were worse, and it was on Disturbed Ward, so I didn't get off too easy), but I'll see if I can't get an all-Slinger merciless for solidarity.

@MaTtRoSiTy said:

Yeah I am sure good Slingers can do a lot but of course I really just want his adept so it limits my perk options and makes it harder.
I think I might have to wait for rank reset for this one as I am still getting 3k's (if I am lucky) but losing gens too fast and I hate to think how much worse it would be without DMS being one of his perks.
Yeah, I just completely blanked out on the adept part. Whoops.
Keys/coin are definitely the greatest power combo, but that requires going for more ambitious shots that the survivors might be savvy to-- going for super risky shots could lose you the game just as easily as win it. Reload/reload is probably going to be the safer choice.
If you have a shot you're not sure about, zone instead. Make them waste time swerving, not looking at you, overcorrecting. Even a tiny bit of distance lost could make the difference.
I recommend just breaking safer pallets immediately once they're dropped, 110% means you'll take too much time lining up the kill shot. Leave them nothing but those wonderful wonderful windows that're basically free downs. How well this works out depends on the map, so.. kinda just have to hope on that front.
Also, make sure to fully utilize the very boring but very practical utility of your shot as basically a fast, big lunge. If they're going to get to a pallet before you, but you know they have nowhere else to go and you'll get a sight line first, get that shot ready and wait for them to commit. They HAVE to. It'll get them killed way more often than wild moonshots.
-
He's definitely not great, and Huntress is for all intents and purposes an upgrade to him.
But you'd be surprised what some clever Slingers can do, what kinds of shots they can land, how they can finesse around some loops, and how quick they can shut down some chases. You can always be just a little more accurate.
Dissolution is fun on him, and you don't even need to personally hit the survivor to proc it. Just shoot over a pallet and break the chain.
-
If I visibly see someone just lose all will to fight, or do something goofy, I always have to respond in kind.
I either feel bad or the clown in me takes over and we start goofing around.

Almost exactly what I said. Reading comprehension is an important life-long skill.
Yeah, I don't really get the whole angle of being all cool and blasé about being a quitter who actively fights commitment in whatever way possible. Like it's the season-pass ticket to get into the Salty Spitoon.
Though I can respect it on some level. Like yes, I WILL throw my teammates to the wolves, and I WILL AFK if I can't do so immediately, and I may even sandbag them if they desperately try to keep me in a game I queued up for. My shame is fast, but I am faster.

The cycle is spinning as we speak. And the thread is pointing to a little tiny matchstick that makes it spin. I do not see you contributing to the de-escalation of the issue, of culling down the taunts from the survivors. Noo , you say feed the trolls , give them what they want. Make them feel good when they rub their win on others. Surly your suggestion is going to improve things ?
No. Once they get what they want they become more daring. Teabagging spreads to loops. As they enjoy harraassing killers they will play for the sake of it. Enter post game chat insults. It spreads on and on.
Unless I see you speaking against survivors too, you are just an enabler for the problem.
Since you do not have a problem with survivors teabagging to rub it in , then you also have none to killers hitting others on the hook and nodding or slugging and nodding to rub it in to them. Same thing.
Cut out the ability for both side to do this , problem becomes less relevant , killers become less toxic too. The cycle begins to slow down. Ignoring only makes it faster.
Teabagging is ignorable and a tiny issue, fixing it makes the toxicity reduce, when some decide to suggest it they get flamed on in the forums. Fixing makes things better, ignoring makes things worse.
"You fool, you absolute jokester, you enable the cycle of toxicity by denouncing it wholesale. Whilst I propose proper and reasonable methods to deal with it, like proudly promoting BMing random and unrelated survivor groups because of something other people did."
I could not have paid you to sound goofier. It's magnificent.

Funnily enough, sometimes the reason really is just "you were there".

@HarlockTaliesin said:
Or they could just AFK. I love a plan so easily defeated by the target having to do...nothing.
Also, the DC penalty, both duration and frequency, has been greatly lowered due to the amount of issues in the game currently, so it's not really a thing at the moment.
Either way, if the person wants out, the rest of survivors are going to three-man it whether they want to or not. If I can't take the hook out I usually just AFK at a hook or on the ground and watch some Netflix or Youtube. Or take the penalty and play some bot games with a killer I need practice on until it expires.
I'm fairly sure someone willing to take any penalty to leave isn't concerned about the hatch. It is fun to get hooked at the end, have the killer run off to find the hatch, get lucky (?) and hop off the hook and find the hatch first, though. Standing on it till the killer shows up, letting them down you, and still escaping is nice salty icing.
As others have said, keeping them alive to annoy the killer/other survivors tends to not be worth it, but hey, you do you booboo.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3282842#Comment_3282842
DC penalties are heavily reduced at the moment. As I said above, matchmaking penalties don't prohibit you playing bot games while waiting, or loading up another game to play while waiting, if it somehow does run long. The timeout may be something that would annoy you, but for people that quit trials it's a non-issue. I think that's what people like the OP who are on a crusade tend to overlook or willfully ignore. If it ever amounted to an annoyance to the person that quit, it's so mild as to be forgotten a few seconds later.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3282918#Comment_3282918
As EQWashu verified above, killing yourself on a hook is not a reportable offense and only serves to clog up the CSRs from processing tickets. I'm not sure what the penalty is for spamming reports for something not reportable, but now I'm curious.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3282972#Comment_3282972
This is also Plan B for me, if I'm feeling feisty. Follow other survivors leaving scratch marks, fast interact everything, miss skill checks, etc. Either the killer will come and hook me again or catch the survivor who unhooked me. If a person is obviously suiciding out, best to just let them. Nothing positive is going to happen in any way by unhooking them. The headache is not worth the cheap BPs.
