I assume you're refering to the "Killer swings trough pallet, I drop pallet still get hit" scenario.
Thats a double action instance, whoevers action reached the server first will play first , killers also get some un-validated hits at pallets because of this mechanic, pretending this is a "survivor only problem" does nobody any good.
I assume you're refering to the "Killer swings trough pallet, I drop pallet still get hit" scenario.
No I'm talking about when you get a stun on a Legion/Wesker and they play the stun SFX and you get the Killer Stun Score Event while they vault the pallet. Or on Bubba/Billy where they play the stun animation and the pallet still breaks.

Like I've said in the first post, the server has to favor one client, and logic dictates that it should favor the client thats doing the "action".
Otherwise you'd end up with situations where on killer POV a swing/Hatchet/Spear/etc is showing Blood, producing grunts of pain yet no damage because the server said "Nah, that didn't happen, try again"
and on survivor you'd get pallet stuns that should have been stuns but the server just goes "Nah, that didn't happen, try again".
Theres certain things that can be done to mitigate the effects of lag compensation, for example, in the case where the killer goes trough the pallet, survivor longarms around the killer and gets the stun on the *same side as the killer* , you could keep collision on killer to prevent the second BS instance of a survivor noclipping trough killer to vault the pallet and land on the other side.
and on survivor you'd get pallet stuns that should have been stuns but the server just goes "Nah, that didn't happen, try again".
There already are. Play vs an even slightly laggy Legion/Wesker, or just any Billy/Bubba, and it's very obvious, but it happens a lot. So it's clearly in place for certain aspects, but not all of them, which arguably makes it even worse.
Like I've said in the first post, the server has to favor one client, and logic dictates that it should favor the client thats doing the "action".
It could also favour the person that sends the information over first, like what happened with pallet stun and hit validation. Having a client bias in a dedicated server game may feel better for one side but feels unfair on the other, whereas some infurating interactions on both sides is actually the most fair feeling.

Alright, propose a feasible fix for the "hitbox descrepancy" keep in mind the server is forced to choose a client (pov) to favor because of latency and net code.
Keep in mind BHVR once tried favoring survivor client and it ended up with the game in a much worse state where killer swung, blood came out, grunts of pain were heard yet, no damage.
Instead of favouring either sides client you could just... Favour the server? If the server received my position before the killer sent that he speared me then the server decides he missed, if the server received that I was speared prior to me sending my position saying he missed then I am successfully speared.
It'll look jank on high ping but that's good because we want to actually eliminate advantages gained from playing on high ping not encourage it further.
They tried this with pallets, and I admit getting validated on stuns was rather annoying. It wasn't as annoying (comparatively, to me, in my opinion, going from what I feel in a game, and I can only speak for me, so please do know this next statement is my opinion, to me, from my own vies and experience) as getting hit through every pallet as survivor, though, because it didn't happen as frequently and if you had terrible ping you no longer had an advantage, on either side. They should've kept at the server side validation for everything, like a true dedicated server game, instead of continuing to play on servers but with weird P2P rules still in place.
When you transition from P2P to DS, you should accurately and thoughtfully update your betcode accordingly even if it means a ground up rework. This did not happen in the case of DBD and we are still feeling the effects today from a shift that was trialled way back in 2019.

False equivalency....
This isn't something bhvr can "fix", it's all down to how latency works as a whole. The only alternative to teaching people as to *why* this happens is to just go "it is what it is /shrug"
A more accurate comparison would be someone complaining about earthquakes and demanding the government somehow stop earthquakes..
It's actually like people suggesting that the government develop infrastructure to help when an earthquake hits but people instead interpret their complaints as complaining about the earthquakes themselves not the lack of infrastructure built with earthquakes in mind and then start trying to teach them about earthquakes after they studied geography for 3 years...

That has been implented.
at least, it's guaranteed for the next game. Its chances of appearing are then increased gradually over the course of 4 (?) games. Barring map offerings.
And also green wards, for some reason.
Unfortunately it's map specific, not Real specific. Meaning you can easily get stuck in a Badham loop because the game doesn't care you've already been to Springwood, just that you've been to Badham 1-4 and it can give you 5.
Statistically very unlikely, but I'd like it if it stopped situations like this and actually made you play on varied Realms.

All of these "look at the hitboxes" screenshots are the same thing. It doesn't line up because you're looking at the survivors PoV, not the killers.

Latency is the bane of DBD. I wonder if they would program their netcode differently if they could do it again from rhe ground up.
We can always hope so.
I'm aware that it's frequent and there's very little that can be done about it. Sometimes, you just need to yell into the void to get some frustration out though, because my word it's annoying.

Hitboxes are pill shaped, go straight up and are centered near you characters hips, slightly behind if you're running while injured. I don't see a problem with this connecting.
The Harpoon has not yet gone through the doorway, and doesn't ever make it past the doors, as the next frame is when it connects. I am clearly through and past the doorway, curving around the generator, which is in fact inside the doors.

I did, in the past you have posted about this topic many times and your answer always implies exactly what you again implied in this thread.
Please clarify why someone asked:
"Why didn't david get X skin, it has been a while since he had a skin?"
And your answer was:
"BHVR revealed him to be gay and then threw him in the trash. The only reason he's getting skins now are because the Twitter Haddie Hive turned their attention to him as well lol"
There is no possible way to understand this other than, you thinking that the reason that BHVR is not making skins for him, is because he is gay, and the only reason they are making them now is because of twitter. If that is not what you mean ,then can you elaborate on that?
If we read the entire OP
I was wondering why he didn’t get an rugby outfit or something similar to it when the ‘Deadly Games collection’ came? Didn’t he play rugby and isn’t he known for that? I’m happy he finally got a new skin after sooo long (last time he got a new fit was during Bone Chill last year 😭) after BHVR made him an 🏳️🌈 person, people really don’t play David anymore which I can kinda understand but still shouldn’t stop you from playing your favorite survivor.
I simply added on that I don't know why he didn't get a rugby skin, and added on that BHVR threw him in the cosmetic bin after he was revealed to be gay. I didn't say anything regarding BHVR doing it because he was gay, and we all know correlation doesn't equal causation. I stated 4 facts- I don't know why he got the skin, BHVR threw David in the cosmetic bin, this happened after he was revealed to be gay, and that the reason he's getting skins is because of the Twitter movement. This last one has been confirmed by the developers themselves in a dev update, where they stated that a movement on social media was responsible for them expanding their cosmetic horizons, and attached concepts for a new skin of Haddie Kaur, therefore I am taking it as facts and including it in my fact list.
You putting words into my mouth and guessing my intention isn't my problem. You then getting annoyed at me for what you've assumed was what I intended, hidden secretly beneath the letters, is still not my problem. You're literally making up a scenario in your head that didn't actually happen, and then getting mad about it, all while trying to say that you know what I intended with my words better than I do.
I intended nothing. I insinuated nothing. There is no hidden, deeper meaning behind my words. Could I have worded "Threw him in the trash" better? Absolutely. Does that mean I am secretly running a hidden agenda to accuse BHVR of homophobia? No.
Sometimes, the curtains really are just blue.

That's my point,

Notice how I wasn't complaining in this thread until you came in and accused me of complaining

BHVR is just a company. The only thing they care is money.
Some survivors will get more costumes since they are more popular but this should not be excuse for not give costumes to others as well.
But they changed tho. Survivors like Zarina, Adam, Haddie, Elodie, Yun got a lot new costumes this year. David just got one and probably he will get another in next mid-chapter.
They won't stop with Feng, Meg, Dwight, Renato etc. costumes because they are making good money for them obviously. But the good point is now they are giving costumes to others pretty often as well
BHVR themselves admitted that David was one of their most popular survivors before his coming out. He was getting skin after skin and was considered one of the Great Cosmetic Hogs. Then, they revealed he was gay, and they just stopped.

There is literally a new skin of him right now in the shop.
So when they don't release skins, its some agenda, and when they do, its also because of some agenda?
How many days has it been before this skin, quickly.
-
The Twitter Haddie Hive
-
I genuinely don't know. BHVR revealed him to be gay and then threw him in the trash. The only reason he's getting skins now are because the Twitter Haddie Hive turned their attention to him as well lol

When people are holding W with, like, a SB or Lithe proc around a strong main building (think Garden of Sadness, Borgo, etc) making up distance is just so difficult, particularly when you're playing a killer who can't use his power with any verticality changes so you just can't use your power to hit them at the window and are reduced to a measly 115 killer. That's the only time in recent memory that I get BL 2/3.
And I fully support removing it and just keeping BL 1, but we need to fix those damn maps first.

The world of maps is surprisingly complicated, but I can safely say that those are two completely different kinds of work that don't necessarily interfere with each other.
For something like this, a level designer can take existing tiles and adjust the layout fairly easily.
Meanwhile for something like Garden of Joy, say if they wanted to adjust the main house layout, they would need to work with a level artist to change the model for the building itself. Even things like changing a loop can require new art assets.
The former are fairly quick - comparatively speaking - things which level designers to do on their own, but the latter requires support from other teams which might be busy working on other things (e.g. art for new maps). It's not that it's a higher priority or delaying bigger & more important updates, but rather something they can do to add more variety to the game in the meantime.
Final question- and I promise this isn't directed to you specifically but moreso is just general feedback- why Macmillan? Why double existing Macmillan maps instead of creating some more variations for, say, Yamaoka Estate, Forsaken Boneyard (realistically that's Eyrie of Crows), Red Forest, Lèrys (I appreciate that one would probably be very difficult), etc. That's what I'm struggling to get my head around - if the goal was to increase variety, surely it'd be better to increase variety in the realms which don't have as many maps (Shattered Square would've been perfect considering the rework it's getting, and it could've been like another Badham situation) and make it so bringing a Map Offering doesn't guarantee one specific map, as opposed to doubling Macmillan.
I just don't really see the point, unfortunately. If adding variety is what they were going for, why not add some more variety where it's direly needed instead of to the Realm least in need of diversification.
-
@Peanits said:
On the chances of the maps appearing more often: This isn't actually the case. We can control how often certain maps appear. In cases like this, maps with multiple variations have lowered chances.
For example, Suffocation Pit I or Suffocation Pit II have half the chance to appear as any other map on their own, but you're just as likely to be sent to one of the Suffocation Pit maps as any other map.
That part, at least, is reassuring, though I can't help but feel like resources could've been better spent on some other maps (ie Garden of Joy). Ik Borgo got a touch up but it just feels like sort of doing things that don't need to be done, particularly in a realm that already is tied for highest maps. If it were, say, Yamaoka or Boneyard or Red Forest (one that doesn't have 5) I'd understand it more, but I just don't really see the point of this, yk?

Reworking Killer power and changing one perk is two totaly different spaces of very different scale mind you.
Reworking a killer power and creating a (hopefully) entirely new perk that's still relatively balanced still take time, and particularly when one was in the works before the other that's the one I'd expect them to focus on instead of dropping everything and leaving 3 genning in the game for even longer.
-
@Xernoton said:
Did we need them? No. Did we need Alien? No. It's still nice to have them.
As long as these variations aren't completely broken, which they very well could be, let's be honest, I'm fine with it.
Looking at the recently released maps and reworks my hopes aren't high, they'll probably have accidentally recreated the 2017 Ironworks and Storehouse infinite 💀

Don't worry, it's Survivor meta perk, meaning it will take like 2-3x times longer to solve, nothing unusual.
Chess Merchant released 3 months earlier than MFT, so does it not make sense that they'd have been working on her changes for slightly longer than MFT?

-
Blindness itself is just a massive middle finger to solo players and needs an entire rework.
-
But why is this still a thing is my question 💀😭
-
To answer your final question, if a survivor is close to the beginning Flight Path of a crow and there is no line of sight blocks, they will be injured. If they're too far away, or if the crow doesn't have line of sight, they become swarmed. Hitting them with another Dire Crow before they can repel them will then injure them.
-
Until BHVR give us ultimate customisation options in-game, no. You can already achieve a lot of what filters provide just through monitor settings alone (ie contrast, brightness, colour, etc). My monitor is broken, for instance, and has the brightness permanently set to 0, so I use filters in all my games to correct this (and I know that this is a very edge case, but it's just an example), along with a deuteranopia filter so I can distinguish between red, green, and yellow.
Moreover, BHVR have specifically whitelisted DBD for Nvidia Freestyle use, meaning that they've had to go yes, we would like players to be able to use your filter software in our games. Some people take it too far, and it makes their game look god awful, but most people do genuinely just use it to make their game look better.

This is a potential change that we're testing among a small set of players. The idea is to make it a little clearer- at least for less experienced players- how many generators need to be powered. With a single number (the normal counter), it's not immediately clear whether that number is supposed to go up or down unless you've been actively watching it. With this, you not only see how many have been powered, but also what the goal is, making it a little bit clearer for someone who's just started out.
Any feedback you may have on this is appreciated!
My question is very similar to the little perk display - why not test it in the opt-in (or opt-out) beta features tab that was introduced a while ago, instead of testing at random? That would give a larger sample size and probably be less work than randomly selecting x amount of accounts for each new feature that's being tested.
I think the feature itself is fine, I just don't see why you've (BHVR) introduced a Betas tab and then never used it outside of the Wiggle + Struggle progress changes.

They changed fast vaults so that survivors would get more distance. However, this also caused a number of seperate issues like survivors getting i-frames during the animation, vaults also being faster (more distance in the same amount of time) and for some reason male survivors would get more distance than female survivors.
Now they reverted these changes (presumable to fix these issues and then imlement it again) but male survivors still vault further than female survivors.
On the topic: It feels good being able to hit survivors at vaults again. I cannot press this enough but if you get hit after the animation, then that is a latency issue. You can stand still after a fast vault and the killer should not be able to hit you.
"You can stand still after a fast vault and the killer should not be able to hit you."
Should, yes. But female survivors now vault so close to the damn window that they can get hit with the killer not even pressed against the other side of it.
