I agree with the post overall, but Freddy doesn't exactly fit into that category. His death was pretty just considering he killed children. I always saw his scare factor as that of "Hey lets give literally the worst person ever the ability to control your dreams and kill you".

Well, in the original i believe he was wrongfully accused and then in later movies they said he did it

  • I was about to be like "######### you talking about man?" Then i realized you were talking about bubba, not billy. Bubba was always trash before, now he's viable, but hard to use. I mean, is there no room for someone to be good with a killer and win without survivors immediately saying he needs a nerf? How many bubbas have kicked your butt since the buff? I wanna know your sample size to know if I should take you seriously.

  • The best villains are villains you can still somewhat identify with, sympathize with, or operate in a moral grey area. Jason was abused and left to die, so now he wants revenge. Freddy was burned alive unjustly, so he is getting revenge on the town that attacked him. Etc.

  • They don't need a debuff. Destroying randomness too easy, I like the challenge of going after swat teams. You're just not good.

  • The game is generally fine and well balanced. For every single thing that people complain about, there is a strategy or perk to counter it, except for dedicated face camping. If you make some loud noise events or teabag to distract and he doesn't leave, then that hooked surv is just Dead.

Tunelling is fine, you have DS, BT and unbreakable to counter.

SWF is fine cause you can use the comms against them by playing mind games

Any killer or perk that has bern nerfed was nerfed for good reason. Maybe not always a perfect nerf in all situations, but nothing is "useless" or "unplayable"

Body blocking is viable because it goes both ways. Survivors can body block to try and keep you from hooking, but there's true grit to counter. Conversely, killers can body block doorways or windows, which is perfect when you hit one survivor and he clips through you to get out, but their friends can't follow because you're blocking that path out while the killer is stunned.

Moris are fine because you can tell there's a mori when the offerings are presenting, letting you know you have to change your strat.

Keys are fine for the same reason, killers will know they have to play more aggressively to keep survs from hatch escaping.

Slugging is fine because you can hide till help arrives, or until you're the last one and you can hatch out. Plus, there are several perks that help you when slugged.

Huntress with iri heads are fine, because you only have 3 hatchets at most and it takes serious skill to use right.

Basically, people love to complain without trying new strategies to counter the things they don't like.

The devs suck even more than anybody gives them credit for.

You're just an a$$, stop playing their game then.

  • I'm a killer and face camping sucks. No fun for killer or survivors. Just feel content that face campers suck at their job (at least with the killer they're running that day). The only time its acceptable is if the camped survivor was teabagging mid chase. If you're that sure you won't get caught, you better back it up or else we'll make sure you die

  • Im a killer and you just have to handle SWF differently. When its clear they're communicating, start with mind games that make them give each other bad information. Leave a chase to head towards a gen you know the others are working on, then double back. The chased guy relaxes and says "he's coming for you", both giving you a good opportunity to surprise the runner AND making the gen team scatter needlessly, often causing them to miss a skill check in their panic. You can also count on them to be more altruistic. You can almost walk away from a hook, count to 10, and walk back and catch them unhooking every time. Use their comms and comroderie against them. I get 2ks against swat at minimum with these tactics. I also run discordance and tinkerer usually so that I can constantly disrupt gen rushing.

if their where be a perk to increase chat range would be cool but it makes the perks useless when you have discord skype ect.

Also, that's why i suggested making the chat mods its own "offering" style spot. If you're using the chat, great. If not, you just leave it blank.

Right, obviously there's no way to stop discord chat and stuff like that, BUT if you add an official chat option in game AND make it known that, while unenforceable, discord servers are considered cheating, the more ethical groups will chat through the in game chat.

Mouse And keyboard are just flat out better. Even a lower end PC will out perform a console. So, it's not assuming there will be a disadvantage. It's a fact. And as I said above, add in hackers and I'm good.

But have you thought about how the pc survivors are used to juking pc killers? they still have to figure out the best way to move to make your ps4 frames stutter, regardless of the clear precision that mouse and keyboard bring. Its not about equipment, its about the movement and timing, which they don't seem to have figured out yet

  • @Ryuzaki said:

I would like to opt-out of crossplay but the option is greyed out for me. My platform is PS4. Anyone else have this problem?

So, as the dev said, you can back out to the main menu and go to settings to opt out.

I would say try it out though! I have an original PS4, not a pro, and the survivors on PS4 take advantage of FPS a lot more than cross play survivors do. The ones on ps4 know exactly how to move to make it stutter, but the ones on pc seem to be used to juking a different way that may work for pc killers but doesn't throw me off on ps4. I think because they juke sooner. Just give it a shot, I've been smashing the PC teams

They are always within terror radius, and considering the amount of hags with moniter I go against, thats about 16 meters :/

I mean, I often stay within TR range because I'm cleaning up dropped pallets or breaking gens. It also depends on how quick you rush the hook, because I still watch the hook as I walk away and if I see someone running for the save I'm not just gonna pretend I didn't see it.

  • @Yasuhoe said:

Recently I have seen an influx of killers taking green moris and tunneling the first person they hook into the ground. Why is this a thing? Can a killer main please educate as to how this is fun and interactive game play for the survivor being tunneled?

Well, the biggest reason you might be seeing that is if they get the mori daily, especially if they're not that great with that killer. I like to get the daily out of the way, so sometime I tunnel so I can mori quickly. But often I am a lot more chill after that cause I feel bad. But people make a good point, if you kill someone fast, that's one less person repairing out there. Its tactically advantages, albeit a tad bit less honorable.

Honestly though, I wish you guys would get over tunelling. As long as they don't hook camp, its fair game in my opinion.

  • @KingFrost said:

Killers who do that deserve every DS and Unbreakable they get tbqh.

We get those already, regardless of moris. Soooo...

  • Out of the options I like pinhead...

    But also....

Zydrate comes in a little glass vial

A Repo! The Genetic Opera release would be awesome. Repo-man is the killer, grave robber and shilo for survivors.

Repo-man's power is called Legal Assassin.

Shilo would have some kind of sympathy perk that is particularly disarming of repo-mans power.

I'll think up the rest and put it in a post

Then why didn't they just nerf omega blink? They went and nerfed her in her entirety, and now she's never seen in red ranks, whereas before she was dominant (mostly). I appreciate the devs touching her and Spirit, but they've gone so overkill. Next they'll be nerfing Hillbilly!

    Oh, did ya hear?...

  • They need more options for A rank (preferably S rank) killer(s) that can be obtained with the in game currency rather than money. Either make some of the pay-to-play killers purchase with the free currency, or add a new one.

I exclusively play killer, and have been whooping PC players butts. What's the matter? You a Pc Player and upset that someone suggests that the pc master race isn't all its cracked up to be?

  • Naw, never seen that, you probably just suck at losing the killer. If you're getting camped, I'm sorry, that sucks, but that happens on every console. If you feel like you're getting tunelled: get over it. I play on console and you PC survivors just seem to suck. I don't camp and avoid tunelling unless I have bloodhound. Im still whooping in all my cross play matches

  • The reason for it is obvious: they added stuff that makes his chainsaw silent outside his terror radius. So when a perk gives you undetectable, they needed a non chainsaw noise so survivors could hear you chainsaw sprinting up to them. I 've gotten some crazy jumpscares with it where I rev my chainsaw after tinkerer triggets and all they heard was me screaming as I flew up on them from across the map. Sneaky billy is best billy

  • Wrong. I'm tosting survivors more than ever. You can turn off cross play by going into options from the main menu though. The reason you're having a problem is because there are different metas for different platforms

Looping needs a replacement in the game of dead by daylight. It is boring to do and annoying to face and looks silly and cartoonish. I can't be the only one that thinks they should add a fun chase system that makes it easier for newer players to feel better and more confident in a chase instead of holding w.

I showed my friend dead by daylight the other day and he watched me loop a huntress and found it comical and laughed at the game and said it looks so bad but interesting. Kinda inspired me to make this forum, I already felt this way about loops but I have a feeling that its worse that what I think it really is. Looping really takes a chunk of the fear factor out of dbd which is supposed to be a horror game.

This is just childish, looping is fine, its only really annoying against the hag and nurse since they're so slow, but a good nurse can blink to break a loop and hag can place a port-spot by a window to break the loop. Otherwise, killers just have to use mind games at windows or be patient in non-window loops since they're faster

  • @Splinterverse said:

Do not come on here complaining about SWF until you've spent an entire day playing SWF on the official DBD Discord. If you do that, you'll see that the toxic bully squads are the minority.

SWF has advantages but it also comes with disadvantages. You get poor communicators (including those that don't talk at all), you get people with bad mics or thick accents, you get folks that say stuff you don't need to know and omit the things you do, you get those that are know-it-alls shouting at everyone to play their way, and you get people that don't know how to play or that play in a very risky manner. Another factor is the peer pressure. In SWF, you get people screaming at you if you don't save them. There's also a pressure to not let your team down since they can literally call you out on comms. All of these challenges offset the advantages, especially when you consider that it can be distracting. Yes, there are groups that play regularly together and are a well oiled machine, but those again, are a minority within a minority (since the majority of survivors are playing solo).

I've never played SWF, only randoms, and I never thought about all these disadvantages. I was only thinking about "bad info", which in cause intentionally when im a killer. Leave a chase to go for a loud noise event, so the chased one will say "he's coming for you" then stand still to trigger insidious and catch people off guard cause they thought they knew where I was going. You point out that if you're not an actual group of friends, the comms can create chaos and stress intrinsically. Very interesting...

  • If its really that big of a deal, the ranked and unranked lobbies is a good work around. Killers can check "allow SWF?" Or something. Im sure that would seriously increase wait times for all groups though, but now that its cross platform, that would be less of an issue.

They could also do the gen and healing slowdown, but that would cause an increase in lobby hopping.

Adding a proximity chat would make it balanced, and would likely make more ethical SWF groups to use it, but there will ALWAYS be discord groups. One way or another, you're gonna deal with off-game chat. And if they debuff SWF groups there will be non-vocal SWF groups that get screwed over. There's no perfect fix.

I think its decently balanced as is, but wouldn't mind if they tried out a few things to help the issue, but its likely that would be a waste of the devs time and pull them away from other QOL and balancing adjustments in other areas, as well as slow down new content.

  • Man, I'm a killer main and things are fine. Getting screwed over by SWF? analyze the game and figure out what they did to win and adjust your build. Did they body block you? Try true grit. Did they gen rush? Go dischordance and tinkerer. You got juked a lot? Run unrelenting as a crutch. They kept hiding? Grab nurses calling, blood hound, insidious, or iron maiden.

If SWF was removed from the game the community would die. I'm a killer main, pretty good too, and I find beating rando groups to be boring. Killing SWF groups is actually fun and rewarding. Learn to adapt and use your perks in a variety of ways

I can coordinate and do whatever I can with the SWF, they're competent people and we can do well when we don't have a killer that plays like a scumlord. You get sick of repeatedly getting stuck with the bottom of the barrel killers who can't win legitimately. That's the problem here, it has nothing to do with us. I hope how soon the matchmaking is sorted out with the MMR or whatever they're gonna pull next, because switching back to the old way is clearly garbage.

Hmmmm... Naw, the problem does have to do with you. Complain about camping all you want, that stuff sucks. But get over the tunneling, you're being a baby.

"How dare you focus on your prey, how dare you use bloodhound and sloppy butcher to track a single target". I suppose you like it when a killer just throws the match by constantly doing whatever the survivors want? You want killers to just be nice and give you free wins? If they're not camping then just get over it.

  • Its not a big deal, if you're a good runner then tunnelling just lets you easily distract the killer away from the gen team. You know the counter to it? Coordinate (assuming SWF).

If you're not the strong runner of the team have them come and distract the killer. Or someone can fast pallet jump repeatedly to get his attention. If he keeps tunneling at least it messes with his ability to hear. Lose the killer with stealth when you break line of sight.

If you're playing random then use a LFG site to get a group together. Otherwise, play sneakier and dont get found in the first place. Lead the killer to other team mates if you just want to get the killer off of you, you're a random, why do you care about them anyways?

With SWF you can get around camping too, but I agree camping is toxic and i only do it when someone teabags mid chase. But quit heckin whining about tunnelling, take advantage of it, and get good.

  • Im a killer main and dead hard ain't no thang. Bait em, as people have said. It can only be used while people are injured, so that helps. Also, you can be fairly sure they won't stack exhaustion perks, so when you see them use it you can be confident they won't sprint burst or lithe in your next encounter with them. Just keep tunelling if they've used it so they can't recover from exhausted.

I understand its frustrating, especially when it costs you the game but... And i hate it when people say this, but its true: git gud

  • Im a high rank killer and im fine with in game chat for survivors. You can REALLY tell the difference between a team using chat and a random team. Its extremely easy to beat a random team, and when they're talking is the only time they have a chance to all escape. If they're worried about immersion that would be a good chance for a proximity chat, even if it has a long distance to it. Especially if it went to killer too. You could eavesdrop on survivors making plans and then scare the crap out of them when you pop around the corner with undetectable saying "good plan" while revving a chainsaw. Adds a whole new level of psychological warfare. Just as long as the community doesn't turn toxic. I could see an in game proximity chat being very fun and balanced, especially if they added perks that increase chat range or make it where the killer can't hear you. Just my 2 cents on the subject. As an indie game developer myself, I would love to play around with the balancing of that feature.

  • If you have good killer perks, swf is pretty balanced. You can get into the psychology of it and trick them into giving false information to each other, and you can be more confident that they'll go for altruistic actions. I just don't like it when I get body blocked by 2 people when a 3rd sabotaged the hook im headed towards. Otherwise, im fine with it. The only thing I can think to fairly counterbalance SWF is anyone who lobbied up gets aura blindness while the killer is carrying someone from their party or when someone from their party is on the hook, that way they HAVE to communicate very clearly. If a random is being carried or hooked it doesn't trigger the AB, and the random doesn't get AB when someone who's partied up is carried/hooked

  • As a killer main, camping isnt smart. You gotta keep applying pressure or you lose, 1 kill isn't satisfying. Plus, you lose points for staying near the hook.

There are definately perks that counter it, but there's one strat that can work without special perks: baiting. if the killer isn't a total ass, one of you runs up and waves, killer will usually chase, leaving someone else free to unhook. That combined with survivor communication and perks makes camping easily counterable.

The thing that made me camp as a noob was not wanting to waste a bunch of time searching for survivors, and if i stick near the hook I know my time is at least ensuring a kill. Giving them something to chase eases their worry of wandering around aimlessly. Now that im a seasoned killer, I don't camp unless someone teabags mid chase. If you're gonna act cocky you better back it up by not getting caught, cause if you do the killer gets a lot of satisfaction from ruining your fun by facecamping

Guess you didn't read literally the first sentence where I said the option is greyed out on PC.

You're going in wrong to disable it. Its greyed out after selecting killer/survivor, but if you go out to the main menu (the one where you pick killer/survivor) and bit options from there. The option to turn off cross play will no longer be greyed out

  • I've only played 2 matches as killer against pc so far and killed the whole team both times. In guessing they were random though, otherwise it would have been tougher
