I do think DS was overnerfed, but this gif does nothing but show that people are not used to the new stun duration and not that the new stun duration is inherently too short. If you go frame by frame you can see that Kate is pretty much in the center of the Shack by the time Oni appears in the door frame. She was probably aiming for the door in order to do a long loop around shack or possibly attempt to get to a different tile. Then she notices that the Oni is way closer than she thought he'd be, so she course corrects towards the window, but by that point she's taking the curve way too wide.
I think it's more she was looking behind her, while running toward the Shack Pallet, but didn't know it was already used and gone. So then she course corrected. Panic vault and down. DS wasn't over nerfed IMO, this Laurie just had a bad running plan cause she didn't know Shack's God Pallet was gone.

Been seeing this a lot myself. Their DH doesn't work, they kill themselves on hook.
I was playing Nemesis and literally had a Jake and a Nancy just run up to me. So I downed the Jake, and hooked him. Nancy flashlight clicked at me and I started to chase her... Jake kills himself on hook. I down the Nancy, hook her, she does the same. After the match I asked What the hell was going on, the Jake said "Perks are worthless, can't do ######### anyway. Maybe if we make the game look bad enough, the devs will actually fix this bullshit update."
So yeah... Survivors actually are throwing just to inflate the kill rates. It's kind of pathetic to see really.
-
I'm running the same perks I always have except for one. Lightweight, We'll Make It, Iron Will, and now instead of Were Gonna Live Forever (cause why bother without the BP bonus) I've been playing with resilience or inner strength. Same degree of success as always. PIP 2/5 matches, Black Pip 2/5 matches, Depip 1/5 matches.
-
It's almost as if Survivors were over reliant on their 2nd chance Crutch Perk meta. Whereas Killers... not so much, even though those slow down perks got cut in half or worse as well.
Probably because Killers were used to getting little to no use out of the slowdown perks they brought half the time anyway.
Ruin : Spawns right next a Survivor, gone. Really got a lot of value out of that one.
Pop Goes The Weasel : Can't down and hook, Can't get to a gen with the time limit, only gen that has any progress is like 5%-10% done so didn't get really any value out it.
Scourge Hook : Pain Resonance : Didn't down and hook someone, also, if you did down them hope there is a scourge hook near where you downed them. If not, tough luck.
Deadlock : Oh no, a whole 7 seconds of progress lost due to waiting a bit. Whatever will you do?
I could go on, but you get my point. Survivors were so overly reliant on their 2nd chance "I messed up, lemme just use X perk to erase that mistake." Killers on the other hand, were already used to their perks being taken away / useless half the time. Almost like without guaranteed safety nets OVER AND OVER to help them EVERYTIME THEY SCREWED UP, they can't do anything.

well it's no surprise if the devs make the game miserable for survivors while making improvements for killers.
I've said this before and I'll say it again, but the developers love coddling and hand holding the killer side.
further proof of this:
- • Much more effort going into buffing/reworking killers. If survivors ever get anything decent it's nerfed shortly afterwards due to complaints.
- • Glyph challenges - gives debuffs and secondary objectives to survivors. there's glyph challenges that literally make survivors oblivious.
- • When there were boons that killers couldn't break, the affected maps were immediately disabled to get hotfixed. But when this issue existed with unbreakable hex totem spots, that went on for a long time and the maps weren't disabled.
The latest patch proves it further.
Just like when Dead Hard first came out and Survivors were using map offerings to get Auto Haven and Dead Hard onto cars so they couldn't be hit? How about the years killers spent with old Lampkin Lane, where House Of Pain was legit an infinite. You know like back before the Entity blocked windows? Didn't see those maps get disabled. How about the years "Fat Shame" spots existed? How about there are still "Comp corners" where if a hook breaks there, the Killer legit can't get a Survivor to a hook?
Oh last I checked, The Killer have debuffs on their Glyphs too. Maybe leave your Survivor Bias at the door next time.
-
You should totally become a streamer then. I'm sure everyone would watch you 4k every single game. I miss the good old days when when bias Survivor players actually made good bait post.
-
About the same for me before patch as after. I never used the Survivor Meta, but used the Killer Meta. Survivor i'm escaping about 2/5 matches, Killer i'm winning about 2/5 matches.
Then again, my win condition has never been escape/3-4k, It's always been "Did I get a pip?" On that condition: Killer I depip 1/5 matches, Black pip 2/5 matches, Pip 2/5 matches. Survivor : 1/5 Depip, 2/5 Black Pip, Pip 2/5. So... pretty even for both sides. Solo Queue survivor only as well.
Survivor it depends if I have team mates who are still holding onto the "Crutch Meta" from before the update. Usually Dead Hard, BT, DS, and Iron Will. though most of the time, even I die, I still do plenty to get a black pip or pip. Depips are rare.
Killer it all depends if I get a SWF or not. Most of the time anyway, some solo groups are good.
-
Maybe, just maybe, Survivors are having a hard time adjusting after their 2nd chance perk Crutch Meta got nerfed? It stands to reason most high MMR Survivors got there by using a bunch of Crutch perks, and abusing them. Without them, they are like fish out of water. Seriously seen this in lord only knows how many fighting games, like For Honor getting rid of the turtle meta. That or like Hunt : Showdown when they added the Red Screaming Clues or Red Warning near a boss lair if other Hunters were close. The sheer amount of shotgun campers whining was insane.
Yeah, high MMR survivors are having a rough time. That's what happens when you abuse OP crap then it gets taken away. High MMR killers are used to the bullcrap, so now it's not as bad, they can do more with less. Killer's got their stuff nerfed too. Just that Killer perks didn't have nearly as much of an impact as Survivor perks did.
-
This reeks of Survivor Only bias and a bunch of bull.
-
Still playing the 50/50 games like usual. Bronze 1 Killer now and Bronze 2 Survivor, solo Queue Survivor as well. Nothings changed for me. Never used Crutch Hard or anything on Survivor. Still doing "meh" as Killer depending if I get solo Survivors or a SWF. Gens fly faster as Killer now though.

The changes to base break speeds, recovery and injured speed boosts are laughable when coupled with extra time on gens and faster gaining of bloodlust. Remove bloodlust and watch how many "skilled" killers cannot down someone on an unsafe loop. Killers are handheld in this regard, and have been for years, just as survivors have had it easy with E for distance.
Guess you weren't around when Pallet Looping first became a thing, back in patch 1.4.0 when Myers came out. Bloodlust was/is a band aid fix for a broken hitbox/collision box exploit Survivors bullied the developers into keeping in the game by threatening to quit. That and the massive review bombs after true Infinites got taken out of the game thanks to Entity window blocking and three vaults. Take out Bloodlust, and every single Pallet Loop is a God Tier Loop that can easy waste a M1 killers time for over 30 seconds, which is an easy loss for the killer.

There is no learning curve for killer now. They made it way too easy.
"There is no learning curve for Killer, it's too easy" Sure then, i'm sure someone brand new to the game can pick up Blight, Nurse, Billy, Oni, Pinhead and use their powers easily and never miss a Blink, Rush, Chain Shot right off the get go.

Unfortunately with the updates new players wont stick around for very long. When a new player comes to the game they are very limited on the perks that they have access to. By nerfing key perks such as iron will it makes it much harder to learn the game and the mechanics. This puts all the decent perks behind a pay wall.
Not to mention with the killer being so easy to play any new player that plays survivor will not want to lose every game they join. When a new player enjoys the game and decides to continue playing they will spend money on dlc that was released long before new dlc. This is extra revenue that you will not see, sure the die hard fans will buy the new dlc but that's it. This seems like a huge loss for the company.
I wonder what others have to say about this. Does anyone else think that the nerfs will lead to a loss of player base?
Wait... "By nerfing Iron Will it makes it much harder to learn the game and mechanics". When you used old Iron Will, it eliminated the game mechanic of the Killer can hear you in pain. How is that "learning the mechanic" when you basically just take it out of the game?
-
I often give out pity wins, or a least a freebie "downed, but leave them alone." Sometimes I find there is just this ONE SURVIVOR I keep finding. Over and over again. Not trying tunnel them out or anything, just keeps showing up in front of me. I'm going "Dude, why is it ALWAYS YOU I keep finding. Damn." So I down them, then just shake my head "no" at them and walk away.

I've never heard of this it sounds cool Is It a show or movie?
Puppet Master is an American horror film series which focuses on a group of anthropomorphic puppets animated by an Egyptian spell, each equipped with its own unique and dangerous device and are represented as heroes, antiheroes and antagonists. The franchise was created by Charles Band and Kenneth J.Hall.Full on series of movies.
-
If someone is doing an old tome, it'll spawn one for them. I did it myself.
-
The Puppetmaster Series. They already have the mechanics in place for him. The Twins mechanic for controlling a small diminutive Killer (Victor in this case), switching back and forth. He could also have all his Puppets, and you switch between which one you want to use. (Like how Clown switching between his slow down and speed up bottles.) Each Puppet has it's own ability.

What you're saying here is, because of the 0,5% of the player base who concentrate the following conditions: FUll SWF, competitive, sweaty tryhard experienced players with many hours using meta perks, then the rest of the playerbase, the vast majority of survivor players have to be at a tremendous disadvantage and just never have a fair winning chance. Forget about it if you're with randoms against a veteran Nurse. Nurse is broken and absurd, but she's fine because a ridiculous minority can beat her.
It's just such a dumb flawed logic that people like you use, and there's only one factor that you mentioned yourself : Entitlement.
Because, yes indeed, survivors were the dominating role and the big guy back in 2016 and 2017. Very early stages of the game, killers got stomped left and right. But this has been not the case for several years now. But because during the early years killers got bullied and stomped and made fun of so much, this myth about survivors being OP has remained for all this time.
It just isn't true anymore for a long time. Killers have been very strong (experienced ones, anyway, because in 1vs4 games the person playing alone has always been the one to have to tryhard at first to get good, that's obvious) for a very long while now. The only thing that remains now as a powerhouse are those very sweaty tryhard meta SWF groups. And those will mostly remain the same, as always, while, also as always, solo Q gets shat on, bullied, stomped and trashed patch after patch after patch. I'm personally sick of it.
I've been a solo Q player since 2016. Occasionally I have been in SWF and mostly a duo, but 70% of my time has been solo Q. Because of this I'm probably a lot better than your average SWF player because I have been forced to carry randoms who are clueless for years. I enjoy killers that take skill and are fair to go against (My favourite killer to fight is Huntress, I love playing against her, because I feel like it's fair) when, having an equal chance at it, if I'm better I can come on top, and if I'm worse I will go down anyway. Nurse completely negates all of it. I'm good against Nurses, and can back it up ( unlike most people trash talking on this forum, trying to lecture others about how to get good against Nurses, when they probably can't last 20 seconds against a God tier one ) but if the Nurse is very experienced, and this is not hard to achieve, she negates most of the things you can do, and she's basically playing against herself : If she makes no mistakes, she wins, and your input doesn't matter. Even maps that are "bad" for her (the game) aren't a problem for the really sweaty tryhard Nurses. She's basically cheat mode once you know how to play her.
The only people who defend her are people who want to stomp everyone all the time not through skill, but through overpowered mechanics that allow you to negate every counterplay other than just coordinated gen rushing and doing all gens in 3 minutes through a well prepared SWF squad.
What I'm saying here is that Survivors dare to have the gull to complain about Nurse. After they have REPEATEDLY done NOTHING BUT abuse the crap out of every single broken AF thing they could get their hands on. Most of all when it's ALL THEIR FAULT IN THE FIRST PLACE. I'll say this again, making the game all about looping instead of hiding and juking was THE SURVIVORS FAULT. They are the ones who lied their asses off with the BS "We want to be chased all game, that's what's fun!" In order to protect their shiny new exploit, because they were still REELING from the loss of true Infinites. To which the developers gave it to them.
Then you go on a rant about "0.5% of SWF groups blah blah blah". Bull crap it's "0.5%", not to mention way to move the goal post there. Voice comms on ANY SWF gives them a HUGE advantage. Simple things such as saying "The Killer is chasing me." This lets ALL other members of the SWF know it's safe to do gens, to cut out any hesitation. "Come get me, killer is chasing someone else." "Come over here to get healed." ect. ect.
This creates a massive power shift. "0.5%" is yet another strawman by SWF's who want to dominate. Simply because even if all 4 survivors, and the killer are of even MMR and ranking, SWF will always have a leg up because of voice comms. Survivors getting boosted way beyond their actual skill level because of it. Then Survivors have the audacity to whine about someone who's put the time in to get good with Nurse to counter it.
Complaining about Nurse is nothing more than Survivors putting the blame on Killers for THIER OWN BS. You wanted the game to be about Looping? Fine. You want to have a massive advantage with SWF. Fine. The developers gave you what you wanted, now quit whining Nurse, who came BEFORE ALL THIS, negates it.
Also, as a 80% solo Queue Survivor and a real horror fan. THANKS A LOT! Thanks to ego stroking SWF groups. Thanks to Survivors who can't do anything that require more brain power than running in circles, and pressing spacebar now and then, and holding M1. THANKS TO THEM, I have to have a nightmare of a game as Killer half the time. I have to have a nightmare as solo queue survivor nearly ALL THE TIME.
What really makes me angry though isn't playing the Killer, but the Survivor. I've been forced to give up the fun I had being SCARED. Now Killers have Killer Instinct all the time, Aura reading base kit or perks OUT THE YING-YANG, and LORD ONLY KNOWS how many Gen Regression perks because of Looping wasting SO MUCH DAMN TIME off the Killer. That and because SWF having ZERO DOWN TIME CAUSE THEY ALWAYS KNOW WHERE/WHAT THE KILLER IS AT/DOING! So Killers need slow down perks.
THANKS SO VERY MUCH for turning this in a FREAKING BENNY HILL CLOWN FIESTA instead of a ######### your pants HORROR GAME LIKE IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE!

Nurse is a product of her time. Back when hiding and juking was DBD's core gameplay for Survivor, not looping.
History lesson for you : Back before patch 1.4.0 Looping was nowhere near as powerful as it is today. In Patch 1.4.0 the developers re-sized the Survivors hit boxes to be smaller, in order to help Survivors not get hit out in the open so easy, and to help compensate for latency issues. This had an unintentional effect, as Survivors found out they could now hug objects much tighter than before. This, in turn, meant they could run around objects in tighter, and therefore, faster circles than Killers could. Before this, you could get MAYBE one Loop out of a Pallet. Instead of the usual 2-3 now, before having to drop it. Thus, Looping as it is known today was born. This, by all accounts, makes Looping an Exploit as it fits the definition of video game exploits.
See Link here -> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_game_exploit
Survivors, still reeling from the loss of true Infinites, took to this like fish to water. The developers planned to fix it at first, but quickly decided to leave it in the game and try to balance around it due to pressure from their Survivor player base. The majority player base of Survivor Mains just couldn't win without having something that was blatantly game breaking to abuse. Most Survivors then told the biggest lie in the games history : "We want to be chased all game! That's what's fun!" In order to protect this new exploit. The developers caved, and have been struggling to re-balance the game for its inclusion ever since.
Killers were simply ill-equipped to deal with Looping and Stealth. This is why Killers now have a PLETHORA of aura reading perks, add ons, powers, and abilities. The developers gave the Survivors what they wanted, to be chased all game and let them have their loops. They are simply trying to give both sides what they want. Killers the power to be able to stand up to Looping, Survivors the game play they wanted. Though truth is, neither side is very happy.
In short : Killers are getting the balance they wanted (I say getting cause they still aren't there yet). However, not the game play they want.
Survivors are got the game play they wanted, but not the balance they want (as in being OP as hell).
Throughout the History of DBD the balance of the game has been nothing but the Survivors bunny hoping from one broken thing to abuse to the next. Infinites, Looping, Instant-Blind Flashlights, Pre-nerf Brand New Parts (The first nerf wasn't enough, and the second wasn't either. Only after the third and most recent nerf is BNP balanced), and finally Gen Rushing. Killers had only one truly game breaking exploit they abused the crap out of that lasted for any decent amount of time, and that was Machine Gun Build.
Even now, survivors are STILL abusing a plethora of things that break the game's balance. Most noteworthy being SWF on voice comms.
The reason Nurse MAY be overpowered is all thanks to Survivors. I know this makes me sound like a bias Killer Main, but it's the truth. The point is the developers changed the way the game is played around an exploit. One that has been GAME BREAKING from the start. It's been nothing but one game breaking exploit to the next for Survivors, and Killers being pigeon holed into strict metas to compensate. Now the game is getting balanced around Looping, and only looping... Yeah, Nurse may be OP soon enough. Problem is, the other Killers are still WOEFULLY unable to cope with Looping as a whole. Then you add in Hyper coordinated SWF, Nurse is the only one who can stand up to them.
-
Been there a few times. To the point I streamed to show people, 8/10 times I know exactly what the survivor's are doing / going to do. My friends we're asking "How do you know they are SWF and everything they are doing and going to do?" Truth is, Survivors are predictable, most of all SWF groups. Not that there is anything you can do about it half the time to use it to win, but they are still predictable.
-
I was wondering this as well. I played several matches as Blight and kept sliding off stuff, I was yelling ######### half the time. One match on Ormond it happend around 8 times. I got 2 downs the whole match. They powered the gates and I just walked up to the gate, opened it for them, and had them leave.
End game chat I said "Man, I am so bad with this guy." One Survivor that I had been chasing said "Actually you're not. Your angles were fine and you were aiming well. You were just sliding off everything you went to bounce."

You literally want to PUNISH people for having friends?
Yes, just like SWF should have a base Action Speed Debuff on them at all times. Starts with 2 man having a 5% reduction, 3 man 10%, and 4 man 15%. Values could be adjusted. This would counter act the sheer amount of time saved via voice comms. (coordinating heals, Gens, knowing who/where the killer is at all times, basically what gives them zero down time.) The loss of any sort of hesitation by survivors and being 100% optimal thanks to voice comms breaks the game on a fundamental level.
Also, before you come back with the "I shouldn't be punished cause I HAVE FRIENDS!" excuse, let me ask you this. Is it fair to punish killers with unreasonably difficult games, just because "you have friends"? Is it fair to makes solo Queue a nightmare because the devs balance with SWF in mind?
Seems to me most SWF groups these days don't give a crap about balance or a challenge. It's nothing but wanting a Bully The "Bad Guy" Simulator. If solo Queue gets caught in the cross-fire, who cares right? Feels like 1/3rd of the games population would gladly screw over the other 2/3rd, if it means they get a massive ego trip out of the deal.
-
I wouldn't be playing Killer until the Update, if it weren't for the fact all i'm getting are Killer dailies. It's the same for me, sick and tired of the "Press E to erase screw up and getting caught out of position." I mean, the Press E to erase mess up is annoying, but I can work with it. The Press E for on demand Sprint Bust to next safe/ultra safe/ God loop is just infuriating.
