  • The Shape

    Tombstone Piece

    • Grants the ability to inflict a hook state upon a healthy or injured survivor by your own hands while in Evil Within 3.

    • Inflicting a hook state drains the Power Gauge by 150% but not past Evil Within 2.

    • Increases the threshold to reach Evil Within 3 for the first time by 150%.

To shorten it - Myers essentially can grab a survivor the same as before but at the end of it they are thrown on the ground in the dying state and the Entity snatches them and they are remotely placed on a hook across the map.

I would also personally give some sort of tell that this addon is being used but outside of that this is what I would change about one of my mains. Lower the requirement and resource usage of the stalk for the addon but also not make it take someone out of the match immediately. It also becomes super obvious a Myers has this when someone randomly teleports to a hook.

The Shape is one of the 4 killers I primarily play and yes I know it's a Purple but realistically it's his strongest addon and one of the strongest addons in the game. It's incredibly stupid how it works now.

  • Skull Merchant - Too much stuff going on in the kit, can play way too passively compared to every single killer in the game and get decent results by just running people down, drones are poorly designed still.

One specific thing I'll say is even if you know how the scanning of the drones work it's still bullshit in every sense that she can just drop a drone around the corner and if it's out of your LoS it will tag you if the scan hits you - The only thing currently I'd change about her is if it's scanning just show it's scanning. It's bullshit that out of every killer in the game this one has to have arbitrarily obscure things in game that can RNG the chase even without the SM knowing it's going to happen.

Stop hiding the scan lines if the drone is active - The drones on their own are already stupid and skillless in every sense. Making them have more steps to read whether they are active is stupid.

The Knight could be designed better but I couldn't really say they are problematic outside of maps like Dead Dawg when 3'gen was an issue.

  • I don't believe she's overpowered - maybe overtuned but at the same time her buffs were not warranted and anyone struggling with her I'll just say skill issue.

That being said I guess she is kind of fine now it only really helped people struggling with her I guess as people who are decent with her while they'll feel the changes it largely won't affect their games aside from possibly a few less trips to a locker.

  • Age old conversation but personally as someone who quit maining Nurse early on because I felt guilty this is one of the few changes I'd like to see for her. Realistically you won't really get stunned in most cases anyway it's just salt on a survivor when you stun the Nurse and she just shrugs it off and blink strikes you anyway. You basically need a teammate to come assist you in this case.

I'd like to see pallets put her power on CD until she has fully recovered and then it charges like normal. Yes that would just be like an extra second or so at most for a survivor to run but it's better than what it is now. I would be in favor of DS and Headon also doing this as well.

If Plague can get a nerf like this for their power I don't see why it shouldn't apply to Nurse who is just more consistent throughout the entire game. Yes apples and oranges but tell me how many times as Nurse do you get stunned outside of headon and DS? Realistically probably little to none. Get stunned with DS or Headon? Legitimately as soon as both stuns end you can usually close the distance with the survivor immediately after the stun is over anyways.

  • I'd love to see Deathslinger, Clown and Doctor added but feel indifferent about the rest of the roster when considering them being mixed with other characters.

I feel they should put killers in categories and balance them based off that.

Also I hope to never see Skull Merchant in 2v8 - That sounds terrible.

  • I don't believe the ad itself is predatory but the first time you see the ad it could probably be presented a little less obnoxiously. It's BHVR using their own IP to advertise another game using the same IP I really don't see the issue with that specifically.

If the checkmark to not see it again isn't working that's likely a bug.

  • He is mostly missing his weapons although I'd kind of argue yes depending on the difficulty - Nemesis absolutely runs slower and it looks like he's power walking compared to RE3. Although if this Nemesis is standard difficulty Nemesis then no he's fine. If we compared him to Inferno difficulty then yeah he's kind of handicapped by a large margin. At the same time he has no supernatural abilities so more so no.

But outside of his insane leg strength I'd argue no he's just a little lackluster.

The only killer in game I'd say would have the mark is Freddy but likely the mark was created as a licensing deal to not make Vecna look like a weak character more than anything. Possibly Dredge as well but I feel canonically Freddy and Dredge are on far different power levels.

  • Honestly outside of quality of life stuff and a lack of features it for the most part feels balanced with the exception of when you have an extremely skilled Huntress on the team for killers and maybe Nurse.

Personally I just feel Huntress shouldn't have 10 hatchets and Nurse probably shouldn't get a third blink. For Nurse specifically I feel like her passive should be reworked to help the other killer instead of being a third blink for herself. A Nurse's calling that activates within 16m of your teammate seems more appropriate but again that's just me.

Past that I would introduce a way for survivors to save teammates - Possibly instead of the stomp command the killer picks up and has the option to remote hook as soon as they pick up or alternatively hooks will always spawn within the killer picking up within 16 meters. I genuinely feel pallet saves and flashlight saves are a crucial part of DBD and allow for a lot of fun. I feel the lack of sabo is only a good change though.

Also totems should do something if they're going to remain in the trials as interactable objects.

Overall though I feel the game is balanced - Survivors cannot bring broken items into the trial to obnoxiously speed up generators and killers cannot bring 4 slow down perks. You're not relying on perks or items to carry you but instead the mechanics the gamemode offers.

  • The next step for BHVR to balance perks is removing perk tiers - I know BHVR has blatantly discussed it many times stating they've done so private and publicly. But it would do two things.

    • Reduce the grind allowing survivors to get perks quicker
    • Remove the need for arbitrary values on a perk just so it can scale with tiers

Granted there would be a downside of

    • Prestige 2 and 3 would no longer give anything unless BHVR reworked prestige rewards

But if you really think of it removing perk tiers technically removes 2/3's of the perks in game because now you're only focusing on the "tier 3" version of each perk.

I have nothing to add to that specific talking point nor do I believe anyone else will - It's been something that's been talked about for at least half DBD's life span but it's something I'd still like to see personally for multiple reasons stated above.

As for buffing weaker perks - I don't see BHVR being able to do that with values on how they exist unless they just repurpose the perk slot all the weaker perks take up. For example Monstrous Shrine will never be good unless it's made OP so it really should just have a different gimmick instead of faster sacrifice but that's again my two cents. So many other perks fall in line with that - The current goal of the perk will never be useful or good unless it's broken so reworking it is probably ideal. I understand they probably don't get profit / value from going back and doing a full rework on perks outside of quick number changes so it's likely low priority.

I'd personally love for the Luck mechanic to be reworked alongside every luck related perk in game. Although I'm also speaking as someone who mains Ace knowing my own perks are garbage.

I also agree with RudJohns post - A lot of the newer perks could have easily been reworks for older perks.

  • Singularity changes are amazing - It feels great all around and the penalty reduction was long overdue.

I haven't played Knight yet but admittedly I don't plan to - I don't even like how the rework looks on paper so I don't find it worth my time to try something I'm pretty confident I'm not going to like. If I'm recalling they removed every good thing possibly coming from the update from the PTB when they pushed the update live. The main thing I don't like is the guard disappears faster if you chase the target the guard is chasing. That seems so stupid especially for guards like Assassin who specifically I feel should be helping you in a direct chase. I understand the other two and if I'm understanding this incorrectly someone proficient in this character correct me.

  • They likely were waiting such a long period they stepped away from the PC and found a match just as they stepped away probably for a bathroom break or something.

  • I enjoy the gamemode but when someone goes down you cannot help - you can only run. I like having options to somehow try to save my teammate as a last resort. I'd like a future iteration to possibly look at that personally. I can live with no sabo but no flashlight or even pallet saves kind of suck. It feels like part of the game is missing without them but I understand this is a completely different mode and should be treated as such. I still want more options though.

  • Skull Merchant - Terrible design

Hag / Pig - Most of them play about the same and are typically boring to play against. However if I had to pick my bias is strongly more against Hag than Pig. Hag just encourages the most boring playstyles unless gimmicky addons are used and it's like BHVR cannot decide what this killer should do. If the more interesting playstyle for this killer is the gimmick addons then make them basekit.

  • Very unnecessary change - I hate everything being under a submenu - Especially when it's a tiny button that looks like it belongs in a mobile app.

The only reason I can see this change being needed is if they planned to add a different button where the customization button was. Even so just add a button.

  • I occasionally have games where for some reason it looks like the survivors on my team have 15 frame animations and is using their LOD meant for farther distances and it hurts my eyes so I'm taking a break until that's fixed.

Everything looks very janky atm and I can't tell if it's the game or players lagging.

  • I don't really see a reason to turn off crossplay but I admit as harsh as this sounds I would prefer not playing against Epic Games accounts. That's the only reason I'd personally turn off crossplay.

Not because "Epic is icky" but because every cheating account I've encountered that's cheating is just an EG account from when DBD was made free.

But hey if statistics show that somehow EG isn't where most cheaters are playing from their accounts I would love to be corrected. It's cool playing with console players I don't mind as someone who plays from Steam.

As for BM honestly it's all the same - console, pc it doesn't matter. Some people BM and some don't. Let's not blame a side because it's just hiding actual issues with the game or behaviorisms people have. Also yes I understand what I said above sounds like I'm blaming a side but ultimately I just don't want to play against cheaters but all of the ones I've played against have been epic accounts (That weren't using anon mode).

In my opinion, they just need a better anti-cheat software.

I do agree with this but outside of EAC their report system is mediocre.

  • I hide my name because I dislike most content creators on this game personally and want my privacy.

Showing a name won't do anything for cheaters - here's the realistic situation.

BHVR messed up making DBD free on Epic and even if you ban them they'll just buy an account for a dollar on the thousands of accounts that are just dormant and unused on the Epic Games Store. Honestly any accounts that don't get played and are inactive should have DBD removed from the Epic Games Store if they never even played DBD and just redeemed it. There I said it - Take the free games away and now cheaters have to actually cough up more money per account.

You also think knowing their name does anything - unless BHVR is manually banning them they can evade anticheat for literal months or sometimes weeks and the moment they're hardware banned they just spoof their ID and be playing again in under a minute like nothing happened.

The report system in game sucks regardless of if you have their name or not. Because regardless you have to record evidence, upload it and submit a ticket on their support page if you want to do anything further than report it in game.

You know what would help? Being able to see match history from all your own games. So I don't need to keep my game set on the game I want to report the cheater in.

  • I think the doctor face thing disappeared when they did several optimization passes on Doc and eventually reworked them but I don't play them much to fully remember. Assuming that's what you're referring to.

At least that's the reason I remember the static effects being toned down on doc - They would lag consoles. I'd love for more crazy effects on doc specifically though but I get its not for everyone.

  • If there are horror elements in an IP I think it's fine personally. Also the original Tomb Raider games had horrifying enemies / stories. It's absolutely fair to give Tomb Raider a place in DBD. Unsure how the newer games fair with the reboot though.

There is only a few things in that list I'm uncertain about like Metal Gear Solid and Portal for example but a good chunk of those have horror elements in them at some point.

I have over 4500 hours in DBD and having an extreme hard time finding items that has been dropped by my teammates.

A lot of maps have multi level structures or floors, tall grass or a lot of rooms. That's a very, very large area that you have to search blindly in SoloQ.

Therefore, my suggestion would be that after about 60 seconds of dropping the item, it will be highlighted via an aura for everyone who comes into the area of weave.

I agree with this - Other day I spent about 15 or so seconds just looking for a broken key (At least I think that's what triggered weave) only for Lich to come back and smack it out of my hands again because I was oblivious for a few seconds.

Truthfully I feel like I shouldn't be further punished for trying to counter an already decent perk but that's just me. Although I do agree with the others that say Franklin's is what enables this perk. Although Franklin's on its own is already pretty good if the entire team is relying on items. Both together feel too convenient / strong but individually each perk is kind of mediocre.

  • Give PH an addon pass first so that way it's easier to gauge if these should be basekit or if range being basekit + new addons puts him too over the top.

I doubt it would hurt but you know how it is - something gets changed and later a full rework results into walking back on prior changes.

I equipped Distortion for the first time in about 6 months, purely for the intention of hopefully getting the chance/time to get some decent bp from the event. All my stacks were gone within a couple minutes against a cracked Billy. The fact that people act like the game would be healthier without Distortion while saying nothing about the absolute abundance of aura reading perks on the killers side blows my mind. Making it about "selfish survivors" is a diversion tactic.

And no, I didn't make any decent bp.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/VYMRD72ESLWH/190343bbcf158-screenshoturl.jpg

Distortion is a selfish perk in its current form but it doesn't mean the aura reading from killers being in great abundance isn't an issue. Both are problematic but personally I'd prefer the user running Distortion just have a perk that helps them survive in chase longer for when they actually eventually get in a chase.

  • I'm experiencing the same issue on PC. Servers may just be down somehow.

    DeadByDaylight-Win64-Shipping_UXo4nG56Ut.jpg
  • I would prefer they take the approach to Iron Will like how Lucky Break works and put it on a timer that can be refilled. Although I get for a newcomer perk for a survivor you start with it may be too difficult of a concept but I don't know really anymore.

At least it needs exhaustion to proc now.

  • I don't find the AoE power denial fun in any instance. Yes I know how to avoid the scanning lines and yes I fully know how Skull Merchant works. I would rather play a bot game versus Trapper than play against Skull Merchant. The only thing that I find enjoyable about her power is the interaction of deactivating the drones. The gameplay loop against her is boring and I don't enjoy it.

The hidden scan lines until it scans it's first target is honestly stupid and should go. It's not clear to everyone even sometimes people who are aware of it and it causes so many random RNG deaths during a chase because wrong place at wrong time. It only takes players who don't even know it's scanning while invisible off guard and it's one of her many stupid mechanics.

And I'll just say it - She shouldn't be debuffing or even injuring people just because she decides to prolong the chase. She shouldn't gain extra speed for holding W because the drones. Everything about her power she gets is passively earned which is so stupid. You don't need to think when playing SM you just drop a drone and it will force survivors to another tile. They have one of the lowest skill floors of any killer in this game.

At least with Vecna a lot of their abilities they have to be proactive and aim them. Skull Merchant can drop their drones and forget about them until they decide they need more when they are on the other side of the map and need to remove older ones.

tl;dr - Skull Merchant is rewarded passively / Vecna has to at least engage with survivors they want to kill. Absolutely a case by case basis and just because let's say Pig passively kills survivors their power functions way differently and doesn't deny areas.

Or have it only recharge ONLY in chase so people using it have to take the heat every now and again, I think that could work too.

I think the people asking for it to be nerfed or reworked aren't considering why it is so popular at the moment. Being able to see survivors as killer is insanely powerful and there are tons of ways to reveal survivor aura. It is a really comfy perk to run to prevent being wallhacked 24/7 or to at least know when that is happening to play around it when you are out of stacks.

I am not gonna say it isn't silly that it counters so much but it is equally silly that you can basically be revealed to the killer at all times with the right build.

That's actually a great suggestion but being honest I've wanted this perk nerfed for a while since it got reworked. At first I thought it was fun but I realized it's way too easy to get tokens now and basically most people using it are just unwilling to take any attention from killer in any way and because of that adds to the tunneling other survivors get. It's not the sole reason survivors get tunneled but it adds to it.

Either making it a team oriented perk or as you suggested requiring chase time to get tokens back would actually be a great change. Just sitting in TR is stupid and in some cases your suggestion would be a buff against stealth killers but a nerf to immersed players.

The only time I really felt like it was relevant before the current patch is when Nowhere To Hide was relatively new. Past that I'm just going to say it most people complaining are oblivious regardless and don't punish the killer for running too many information perks. Not going to talk about Nurse / Blight though those are honestly special cases where any perk is overtuned for them.

  • There are actually a small chunk of people who do that but generally they target specific groups of people.

I would understand the frustration but I feel it's mostly a lack of understanding (And info) on how MMR and matchmaking works in this game. All the information we have about it was datamined by the community.

I knew a person (Blocked now) who used to smurf to target people of color that were new to the game. They would camp them on hook with Bubba because they were being a stupid edgelord. They did this mostly through steam sharing.

  • I've signed up multiple times and it's never actually sent me a newsletter nor does the email go to my spam folder - I never receive these.

  • I'm tired of balance changes that happen 6-12 months or even longer unprompted under the guise that it was a bug fix without prior word that it was a bug.

I don't care what anyone says - it clearly wasn't a bug. You just can't leave a "bug" in the game for almost half a year or in some cases years and then change it without any communication and claim it's a bug so you have an excuse.

  • It wasn't programmed to harm the crew

    Would be my choice

  • I don't believe it was a bug honestly it really comes off like they said it was a bug so they could secure another nerf.

To clarify - I'm happy with pallet scampering without dash going. Window scampering wasn't an issue and honestly made sense for mind games since you don't make a sound when doing so but again you're vaulting a window. I don't recall seeing a single soul complain about the window.

This ######### honestly pisses me off. BHVR really really needs to be transparent on what's a bug if it really is one. Plague losing power through any stuns now instead of pallet is a good example of why I don't believe BHVR because ain't no way that was left in the game for years without them saying a thing.

  • I solo queue a lot because DBD is a low commitment game I can play in short burst when I'm taking a break from working on 3d assets.

I have people to play with occasionally but I'm selective and don't play with ragers.

  • @GentlemanFridge said:

…if you didn't stand right behind him, you might have given the survivor a chance to unhook themselves.

Unless you have a pallet nearby Bubba can still down you on self unhook - They can catch up after the first hit very easily.

I remember reading that there was supposed to be an immunity but the rare circumstances I've gotten to try anti camp the protection doesn't save you.

  • I still believe Bubba specifically should start slowly / gradually losing charges if they're not participating in chases and hovering around an active hook. Literally one of the easiest ways to solve the camping issue with him to allow saves.

He's getting basekit buffs finally so I don't even see a camp nerf being problematic. At the same time I rarely see Bubba anymore since Billy buffs. Personally Bubba camping has never really impacted my games too heavily but most people hover around hook instead of doing generators when he's doing it.

  • Boosted map rates should never be a thing unless the map is new.

Hey folks, I see a lot of questions and confusion so I'm going to do my best to clear up as many as I can.

    About the program itself:

    • This program is not new, it has existed since shortly after the game's release. Previously consultants were not able to confirm they were part of the group without breaching their NDA. We have recently restructured the program and allowed members to say that they are members.
    • Consultants are asked for opinions on upcoming changes and invited to closed playtests where they can give feedback.
    • While the program itself is now public info, the details of what they are playtesting and/or giving feedback on are not. Please do not ask them what's going on in there, they cannot tell you.
    • There is no public list of all consultants, nor do we plan to share one. We leave it up to each person to decide if they are comfortable disclosing it as it could attract unwanted attention and/or scrutiny.

    About consultants and requirements:

    • Consultants do not need to be content creators. While some are, others are not.
    • There is no application process. We select and invite people who would be a good fit for the program and fill the needs we have in terms of experience with specific aspects of the game.
    • Being selected as a consultant is not simply a reward for being a die-hard fan. Consultants are contractors who are paid and have certain responsibilities.
    • Consultants have varying experience (e.g. Killers they've mastered), preferences, playstyles, and skill levels.

About the consultants role & responsibilities:

    • Consultants must participate in closed playtests. Inactive consultants would be removed from the program and replaced with someone who is able to participate.
    • It is a consultant's duty to give feedback on upcoming changes that are presented to them.
    • Consultant feedback is used to help make informed decisions, but it is not the sole deciding factor. We need to keep in mind that consultants are highly experienced players and that their impressions may not always align with the wider community (though they often do).
    • Consultants do not come up with balance changes and are not responsible for how things turn out. It falls on us to decide what needs to be acted upon. (Please do not harass consultants if there is a change you do not like.)
    • Consultants are not QA - it is not their responsibility to test the game and find bugs.

Qualities we look for in consultants (among other traits):

    • Trustworthy, as they are given information early
    • A wide range of experience within the game (and ideally experts in certain areas)
    • Able to provide constructive feedback
    • Able to maintain a civil discussion with people who have differing opinions
    • Able to set aside biases when giving feedback or acknowledge that their biases may be influencing their opinions

Most importantly, none of this means that your feedback doesn't matter. This program helps us gather feedback for changes early on in development and make adjustments before they are revealed. Once they hit the PTB, feedback from the wider community is just as important.

Consultants do not need to be content creators. While some are, others are not.

There is no application process. We select and invite people who would be a good fit for the program and fill the needs we have in terms of experience with specific aspects of the game.

If there is no application process how do you actually seek out people who are not content creators in some right? I'd imagine most of the consultants either had to be referred to you by an already existing content creator or someone with knowledge of the program.

    aye same!

Also it seems im 1 of 3 people who actually uses Invocation: Weaving Spiders when I get that perk, cant wait for its buff :>

I think Invocation Weaving Spiders is one of the few perks I have actually yet to roll. Would like to see how it fairs in a Chaos Shuffle game but I don't think I'm going to ever get the chance.

  • I'm learning that I've memorized all the perks already and it's fun to try mixing new combinations. Past that it's just nice to be able to try other perk combinations without worrying that I'm at a disadvantage because every single player in the lobby is running meta.

  • DBD doesn't need a ranked and casual. Players would run meta perks in both.

Chaos Shuffle stops everyone from depending on meta perks and forces them to try other stuff out and adapt to the loadouts they are given. Yes sometimes you get a good roll and get a meta build and sometimes you roll bad and get bad perk combinations but overall it's nice to just know that everyone is also on an even playing field since everyone gets completely randomized perks from the entire pool (iirc).

  • Travel by turning into bats, summon ghouls and fire lasers, break out into a monologue for five minutes before mori'ing me after I get tunneled off hook.

  • There should be a couple of options to auto spend bloodpoints

    • Buy Bloodweb
    • Auto Spend 1/4 of your bloodpoints
    • Auto Spend 2/4 of your bloodpoints
    • Auto Spend all of your bloodpoints

Having those four options or even more than just the current would be nice. I could save up max and hit a button to auto level and walk away until it's done. Alternatively and ideally the game just calculates how many nodes / levels I'd get with a certain amount of BP and just jumps those levels granting me everything I would have acquired.

How would it work with the UI?

Simply select the center node like usual and then a menu with those four options pop up except the Bloodweb option is just double tapping select and the others is a different button so you can spam buy a single web like normal.

Less time on bloodweb more time in game please.

  • I honestly feel like at minimum the exposed should be 40 seconds. I like the perk concept it's just difficult to get any value which I understand but there's a limit to enabling too much value and a perk just being a worse version of already existing perks.

  • I love the modifier and want it to be permanent. Could use small tweaks but it removes the worry to sweat too much because not every build is meta.

  • I think Chaos Shuffled has allowed me to have the most fun I've had in a few years. Mostly because no ones perks are planned and all people can bring is addons and items. There's no one running 4 slow down perks, there's no one running 4 second chance perks. Everything is just pure random and relies on the players knowledge to utilize the hand they're given in each game. Because of that all the games I've had are chill where either people are learning to adapt with the perks that they are given or I see actual interesting plays. There were a couple of games where killers specifically would tunnel and no one had a solution due to all perks being random but outside of those 2 games my experience has been great.

Personally I want the mode to be permanent I've actually enjoyed the first day of playing so much. The only thing I'd possibly consider wanting changed is just restricting killers and survivors from bringing items and addons but outside of that I just find the mode to be very enjoyable.

Maybe something that could happen is a random couple of offerings are automatically put into play by the game itself for more randomness but I couldn't really say.

  • I don't know ######### about most of the lore but I'm aware of some specific things that are keeping me optimistic and bordering somewhat excited. I am keeping myself in check though.

The thing with D&D is the world and characters could do anything. It's really up to BHVR's ability to deliver on the IP with this one.

With most people though I imagine they have no idea what to even expect with this license. It's not as straight forward as very angry man with machete kills idiot trespassing on their sacred swamp.

  • I agree - In the lobby his legs could be spread out just slightly more to have a more intimidating pose. The current one looks like he's just standing guard. From RE3r it looks like the pose allows him to be ready to break into a sprint to destroy what ever is in front of him. It's a small subtle thing but it's noticeable if you've played RE3r and I agree OP.

  • I would love The Batman Who Laughs as a killer or cosmetic or just a Joker cosmetic but I doubt that's happening.

Harley Quinn seems like they would be a Legion cosmetic tbh but I wouldn't complain.

  • I'm excited for this one - Yes it could be mid but there are so many many possibilities for the map, survivor and killer.

I'm not too into tabletop stuff - I've dabbled here and there but I know there's enough options that the only thing really preventing this chapter from being a homerun is whether BHVR can deliver on this one or not.

  • It's more so a nerf but I feel it makes Chucky more interesting to play against.

Doesn't mean Chucky is going to drop several tiers just using Slice N Dice is going to be encouraged more.

For those good with slice n dice this is only a buff but I imagine he may become too difficult for those who liked to scamper under the pallet.

1 2 3 4 5 6 … 42
