This is an incredibly flawed statement. So if the best player in the world can without tunneling, then anyone can? OK
Who says you have to be the best player in the world?
-
If one person can win without tunneling, then so can anyone else.
But most people won't. They'll just do what they want. As Pulsar said, most people will take the path of least resistance. Not because it's necessary, but because it's easier.

Remove map offerings, remove bots from public matches.

- Grieving is a reportable offense.
- Why would they? If they just want to go for another game they could just DC instead o giving up on hook. Sandbagging and going next are seperate issues.
- So they say, but I'm not convinced that they actually enforce that.
- Why would they what? Grief and sandbag when they get saved when trying to go next? Who knows?

I agree, but unless we have a stopwatch or the footage how do we know it was really a four-person bleedout done to waste time? It's literally one person's (potentially exaggerated due to frustration with the game) word over the other's. Only the person commenting on it is here. We have one side of the story. It's smart to consider both instead of framing the other side as just wanting to be a jerk.
Yes, we know there are plenty of instances where a Killer slugs as a strategy for pressure, or in response to sabo squads, but there have been enough instances where the Killer bleeds out just to be a jerk. Whatever the devs come out with, I'm sure it'll help to reduce the latter without affecting the former too much, as was the case with basekit Borrowed Time, the anti-facecamp mechanic, the 8-gen regression limit, etc.

Apparently you missed the most recent player satisfaction survey, in which they asked a lot of questions about slugging. This indicates that they're cooking up something, though we're still waiting to hear what they come up with.

… The Killer wanted to 4k.
I see nothing wrong here, they just wanted to 4k.
Why is the Killer not allowed to 4k?
They are allowed to 4k, but bleeding everyone out for 4+ minutes is an unnecessary waste of time, especially for the Survivors who can do nothing but wait it out.

killers should be able to see if people are in a party. If the my want to lobby dodge let them.
Texas Chainsaw lets you see who is in a party together and always has.
Only if Survivors are able to see what Killer they're going against and dodge if they don't like it.
-
I'd support it, but I don't see it happening.
It'd be an interesting experiment to try, along with the suggestion that teammates should be able to DC without penalty after one person DC's. Then the Killers would be left with no game, sitting in a lobby, trying to find Survivors who will actually play with them. Even better, they'll be wondering why no one wants to play with them.
-
Knockout rework
Daily Ritual overhaul
5v5 mode
Those are some things off the top of my head, but I'm sure there are others.
-
Unfortunately, anti-slug perks don't really help in these situations. I had a Wraith yesterday with Ruin/Undying who just slugged everyone, and I happened to bring Soul Guard. The perk helped me pick myself up multiple times, but did nothing to progress the match in our favor. The Killer rode up my bumper the entire time, repeatedly downing me. Teammates were also slugged, so gens couldn't get done while I was repeatedly chased and down.
So yes, slugging does need to be addressed somehow.

Yes, now you are getting it, and you simply ban those people, its a problem that will go away real quick when they do that.
I think you might have misunderstood me. When I said you don't want to keep someone around when they want to leave, I meant that you do not want to prevent them from leaving the match by removing the 4%, for the reasons I described above. I'd rather let them leave than put up with their griefing.
-
@Reinami said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3862739#Comment_3862739
Almost like they should punish people for throwing matches and remove the 4% mechanic. Would solve a lot of problems.
Eh, not really. Every time someone gets saved when they're trying to throw, they just sabotage the match for the other teammates. I just had this happen yesterday, and clipped it to boot. Yes, I reported that person for griefing, but we'll never know if anything will be done about it.
It's just yet another painful reminder that if someone wants out of the match, you do NOT want to keep them around.
-
Higher DC penalties would only lead to more people throwing on hook and not leaving bots for the remaining Survivors. But I know Killers wouldn't care about that.
That said, I wouldn't oppose ending the match if there were only bots left. I personally wish they hadn't added bots in the first place. I feel like they cause more problems than they solve.
-
Yeah, whenever I see my teammates with flashlights, the Killer gets a 4k at 4-5 gens.
-
Trust me, when Survivors want to go next, you do NOT want to keep them in the game (unless you're the Killer, maybe). Otherwise, they'll do crap like this…

Looping Isnt the problem - gen speed is. Looping is fun because it takes at least some sort of skill to perform. Generators is just holding a button, and it's pretty silly you can finish a gen within 30 seconds these days. Usually killers lose 3 gens by the time they get their first hook.
I'll trade you my matches then. In most of my matches, one of us (or sometimes all of us) are on death hook before the first gen gets done.

Its really easy to loop that is the problem and harm free on some maps and i think there should be some thing like for example limited stamina for the survivors or some thing like that so that good players cant abuse it for long
There's already plenty of mechanics in place to keep Survivors from looping too long: Killers gain bloodlust, pallets get broken, windows get blocked after vaulting it so many times in chase, etc.

It's technically taking the game hostage, where multiple survivors avoid AFK crows and hide indefinitely without doing gens. But this does not seem to be enforced.
Is it taking the game hostage, though? While the game does seem to drag on, both sides do have the power to progress the match. It's a bit different from those situations where the Killer bodyblocks a Survivor in the corner where they cannot move or progress the match, and the other three Survivors are dead. That would be taking the game hostage.
-
Since when has the broken status been able to be removed by Survivor actions? Never. Most other instances of the broken status have to be waited out, with the exception of Invocation perks and No Mither, which are permanent.
In fact, most other status effects have to be waited out as well, again with a few exceptions.

They could well be a duo. There's no way I'll know.
Checking surroundings means diddly against a good BGP or sabo player. And no, 'just equip x perks in case survivors do that one really annoying thing' doesn't work any more than 'oh BHVR don't need to fix hide and seek squads because Whispers exists'.
Well, if you're going to respond to every suggestion with "But then this will happen, now what?", then stop asking for suggestions.

Pointing things sarcastically out is not any sort of argument.
I'm trying to explain that yes, there are reasons a killer might slug for the 4k outside of them just being mean, namely not wanting to get BM'd by a sore winner or, more importantly, survivors taking the game hostage for an extended period by hiding for the hatch.
Note the poster above you. People are literally justifying taking the match hostage until the server closes in this situation because the killer, rather than slug for the 4k, risked hooking and got sabo'd. So clearly this is something that survivor players will do.
It's a lose/lose. And better to inconvenience someone for 4 minutes than have your time wasted for 20.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3859089#Comment_3859089
Ah. So I can either risk having 20 minutes wasted…or I can slug for the 4k.
Thanks for proving my exact point I guess?
Every killer loses survivors sometimes, because there are perks (and also latency) which futz with tracking, some maps are very dark and/or cluttered etc. So if you're really justifying taking the game hostage for an extended period as some sort of…punishment for this, then yeah. Case closed.
Lol, if the last two Survivors hiding for hatch is as common as people say it is, they're not going to be hanging around their teammate waiting for a sabo or flashlight save.
But in the hypothetical situation where it does happen, you can either chase the person who did the save, or the person who was saved. The latter would be the more likely target, but the former could be good, too, if they're already injured.
Alternatively, you can do a quick check of your surroundings before picking up. Check nearby rocks, walls, etc. to see if the other person isn't hanging around. Or better yet, equip Infectious Fright. Then you'll know if the other person is nearby as soon as you knock down the third Survivor.

This should be explained somewhere ingame.
It is explained in the game.
-
It's definitely an ego thing on the Killer's part, because they can't get it out of their minds that it's not the end of the world if the last Survivor escapes every once in a while. Even when Killers don't slug, the last Survivor only gets out like 10% of the time (most likely less). If Killers are the ones initiating the stalemate by slugging the third Survivor and leaving them, they have no right to complain about the time wasted.
-
I believe this is one of the big reasons for Survivors throwing on first hook. They don't want to potentially end up in this stalemate if the Killer gets their first hook too early.
If people are asking "Why don't Survivors just give up?" in this situation, they should understand why Survivors usually give up a lot earlier.
-
If you're going to play chill, you need to be comfortable losing sometimes (if not all the time). This goes for both sides.

I agree, but the winter chests guarantee purple or iri items, iirc.
-
They're not that bad. Just pop every snowman you see with snowskulls. Even if one blocks your path in a chase, pop it with the snowskull. You get 1000 bloodpoints for each snowman you pop with the mistle toe offering. Easy points.

@Prometheus1092 said:
Said it many times, way before mori update... Hatch gives reason to slug. Remove the hatch, remove the reason to slug the 3rd. It's also partly due to survivors hiding and avoiding gens for so long when it's 2 v 1 with multiple gens left knowing they lost the match (which is reportable). The killer needs more time to find the hiding survivor. So what is a killer to do? Kill the 3rd fast and allow the last rule breaking survivor to get a cheap hatch escape? Hell no lol if a survivor is going to play that way and hide then I will keep the 3rd survivor alive for as long as necessary to find the 4th.
As for how do you expect 1 survivor to do gens? You don't. If gens are not done and your whole team is wiped out then you have lost the match regardless if you get hatch or not as hatch isn't considered a win. accept it for the loss that it is, get it over with quickly and move onto the next match.
Always boils down to the argument of "greedy killers wanting 4k when they win v entitled survivors that want a hatch win when they lost"
Remove the hatch, remove the reason to slug the 3rd.
Removing the hatch will also remove the reason for Survivors to keep playing after a bad start (and many are already having difficulty with that as it is). If 2v1 means the Survivors have already lost the match, then why does the match continue at that point? What would they do if there's no hatch and no chance to complete the last three gens? Perhaps continue to hide for eternity, or until the match naturally times out? What an easy 4k that would be for the Killer, especially if they tunnel out the first Survivor.
Removing the hatch will cause more problems than it solves, and I can guarantee that no one will even want to queue for Survivor matches if this came to be.
-
In case you aren't, make sure you're playing in the Bone Chill event queue.
-
They exist. Not every chest is going to be a winter one, but they're out there. Each mistle toe offering spawns an extra chest as well, so that should increase your chance of finding one.
-
Kindred is perhaps the most important perk for solo queue. It shows you whether someone is going to save the hooked person or not, thus allowing you to effectively decide if you need to go for save, or if it's safe enough to stick to the gen. It also shows you the Killer aura near the hook, so you can see if they're proxying, or if they're headed your way, giving you more time to gain distance or hide.
Deja Vu is another good one if you have trouble locating gens (as I often do in indoor maps). Even if you're generally familiar with gen locations, Deja Vu still shows you which gens need to be done in order to avoid 3-genning. Even with the 8-regression event limit, a 3-gen scenario is still a very bad position for Survivors to be in, so it's best to avoid that when possible.
Many people rely on Windows of Opportunity to know where windows and pallets are. Even if you generally know those locations, Windows still provides value by telling you which pallets are already broken.
I personally like fast heals, so I use Botany Knowledge (though if you use that one, make sure to equip your medkit with an add-on that adds charges, or you won't be able to get a full self-heal). Otherwise use Desperate Measures, as you get slightly faster heals without the item efficiency penalty.
But as edgarpoop says, builds aren't all that impactful. Most perks are situational at best, save for info perks. Teammates will have a much bigger impact on your escape rate, no matter what you run or how well you play. All we can really do is get comfortable dying a lot. Easier said than done, I know…
-
Many "expert" players will say that the ultimate counter to Plague is to just not cleanse, but staying injured and broken all game isn't really that much better. Sure, you can deny her projectile attack that way (and she always seems to have one pool available even when no one cleanses), but you're still on insta-down, so the pressure will be through the roof.
-
Kindred is an absolute must in any build I use.
-

That is not accurate. I have seen it happen to streamers and they do not have a penalty when they get back to lobby. Now it may be that the person who said that didnt move right at the start of the game so that may be why, I'm not sure.
Maybe they just had the one-minute penalty that expires before they return to the lobby.
-
@upsideinsanity said:
How does the DC penalty come into play if youre being insta killed? Just take the death and go next, not like it will be a long match.
From what I read in another comment, if a Survivor gets insta-killed without being able to do anything, the game treats it as though they were afk and they get a DC penalty for that.
If that kind of cheating is running rampant, maybe the penalty does need to be removed, or at least capped. I'd say an hour tops, but that still seems unfair for those who are getting forcefully DC'd by these hackers.
-
@Matherios said:
I win almost all my games too but there are occasions that i lose and that wasn't because i played it poorly but because the gens were done in a matter of a few minutes.
Not every game me, you and others will go against people who will sit on gens and do their objective properly but instead they will go do some challengers maybe boon a totem, try a flashlight save etc which in the end you are assiting the killer by doing those stuff as you are not sitting on a gen.
We should be looking into the game where people go for their objective and according to that we balance the game.If you win almost all of your games, then what exactly is the problem? You're not supposed to win all of them. You're going to have some godawful matches, both as Killer and Survivor. No mechanic changes are going to change that.
-
I can guarantee that if a faster bleed out or give-up option is implemented, we'll see even more Killers going for the 4-person slug at the start of the match to force those give-ups or faster bleedouts. Since many Killers already believe that slugging is more optimal than hooking, the last thing we need is to incentivize slugging even more.

That is the entirety of your argument against everything that's being said.
no, it isn't.
Both of which are incompatible with your earlier, boastful assertion that BHVR shares -your- point of view. Guess the devs aren't as on board with your 'tunnelling is necessary and survivors that ask for nerfs to it are just whiners' viewpoint as you claim they are, huh?
devs are being overwhelmed by "casual" players who suddenly want to take part in balancing aspects and are swarming every part of dbd socials. They have noticed the mentality of average dbd player and are aware that, at this point, there is no point in trying to properly balance the game anymore since average player just wants best results with the minimum skill investment.
And i'm talking this as a person that experienced vast amount of PvP games with various communities, and dbd and fortnite are quite the only communities so far with such catastrophic communities where casuals wanna dictate game balance so that they can have easier matches.
Another wild assertion made based on absolutely nothing.
yeah, you have totally proved my point by trying to completely invalidate any gameplay aspect as a counter to specific gameplay loop because it's easier to go with the flow and believe something is broken, unfair and uncounterable purely because you can't counter it on autopilot.

Never mind the fact that tunneling is the Killer's way to win on autopilot, as it requires no skill, no perks or add-ons, or even basekit powers. Trying to call out Survivors for "wanting autopilot" while defending tunneling is just being extremely hypocritical.

Just because a set of addons are boring or miserable to play against is really an entirely different subject since we're basing changes completely on your personal enjoyment and not for actual gameplay balance reasons.
You're also asking them to completely remove the kill modifier which is the one thing that makes myers standout from the other killers, it's what makes him special, his whole character in the movies is about stalking his victims, only to kill them when they're most vulnerable, and depending on your style of play as the killer that's exactly what happens to the survivors, so not only is it accurate cinematically it's also accurate to his character.
That's like asking to remove Freddy's black box addon because he can block the gates for 15 seconds after they've been opened, rigging the game into his favour as canonically Freddy is pretty much omnipotent in the dream world and can do whatever he likes, if they removed that addon it'd also be robbing his character of something that makes him unique, which is the same argument i'm fighting for Michael.
They will never remove his tombstone addons, they haven't in 7 years, it's only now they've made changes, but only to be more accurate to his character with the stalk distance change, the reason they will never remove tombstone's kill ability is because it's far too radical of a change, if all they're doing is minor changes to his power and addons then you can forget about them making massive changes to his addons and playstyle.
But i'm sorry you found infinite tombstone boring, but to be quite honest why should the killer care about your personal enjoyment? it's not like you have his best interests in mind, just like the killer shouldn't care about how you feel, are you going to reward him because he let everyone go? No? so why should it matter if the killer runs whatever addons he likes, he doesn't care about you and neither do you about him, so the fact you found it "Boring" is an opinion that no one really cares about, just like how it doesn't validate why the tombstone addons should be removed.
"I don't care about you, you don't care about me." Every time people say that, it makes me wonder why we're even having these discussions. I'm just speaking my mind on how I feel about it. Of course you don't have to care about it.

using this logic, we should expect survivors not to bring toolboxes with BNPs, stealth and not to split on gens because "it's more fun that way".
Also, getting tunneled is one of those moments you hate when you don't know chases, but truly enjoy when you are good at those.
You mean you've never seen Survivors give up? I don't know where you've been if you haven't had Survivors playing the way half of my teammates do.

yeah test it, find a good swf that's brining good perks +items while ur playing a killer below a tier and see how that goes. and yes, if youre winning because the survivors are going down in 20 seconds each then the survivors are bad. not that difficult to understand that its not a good strategy
also to give you the benefit of the doubt: even if it IS a good strategy (with tunneling still being a better one) why the hell should killers bend over backwards to appease survivors by playing in a more "fun" way? never in my 3.5k hours have I ever seen a survivor intentionally play worse to benefit the killer. they dont do gens slowly because its more fun and I dont see anyone calling them bad for doing that and saying how that's a "problem".why the hell should killers bend over backwards to appease survivors by playing in a more "fun" way?
