There are many discussions on what is unfair for killers but as someone that plays roughly 50/50 killer/survivor I don't see much discussion around criticizing killer's lack of improvement. I get that DbD is a popular game and there are new players coming into the game all the time, but barring that the game has been out for many years and most of the problematic killers are not new players.
Main issue I see with killers is that they overly prioritize gens. They consistently go for dry kicks on low progress gens and let survivors pre-run. Killers have got to start learning gen speeds and being proactive about pressuring survivor hook states early in the match, or in the event that they do get a hook, proactively pressuring different survivors and force the survivor team to do alturism and get off gens. There are perks available to help out with this so "I can't get a down" is not an excuse. Running around kicking gens blindly is not doing you any favors and in most cases you are handing the game over to the survivors.
This brings up the second issue: Many killers don't force survivors to make dead zones because they want to kick gens and are afraid to loop with a survivor. Killers have to learn that the survivor team has to use pallets in order to loop, and in addition survivors need to be rationing their use of pallets to avoid dead zones, everyone needs to do this. No one is expecting you to end every chase in 5 seconds or win every 50-50 like a looping god but be proactive and learn to use tiles to your advantage, there are myriad youtube tutorials on the types of tiles and how to use them effectively as well as aura reading perks and items to help you see the survivor while looping and tagging. Time saving perks like coup, STBFL and others are also at your disposal.
Third, Too many killers complain about being gen rushed too often, but aside from learning to use tiles better and improving your map sense and knowledge, are you also playing to prevent gen rushing? do you zone survivors into dead zones and spread pressure while forcing the team off gens to prevent gen rushing or do you kick a gen and then wander off aimlessly?
TLDR: Too many killers complain that the game is unfair but they don't work to improve their game by watching tutorials or run the perks needed to balance their weaknesses. Sometimes you are the main cause of your own demise during a match.
I also play both sides 50/50
Kicking generators is a bad habit I got when I bought the game 4 years ago.
I still do it like a bad habit too. I think some have done it so many times that it's like smoking a cigarette. You don't even realise you're doing it.

Have you ever played as Huntress without using Hatchets by any chance?

You will be playing at a disadvantage. You're both slower than other Killers and have no power, so I wouldn't go into it expecting to win. But if you're okay with that, it can make for a fun meme build.
You can somewhat take advantage of the fact that some people will try to play around your power. A lot of pallets are a 50/50 for Survivors. Dropping it while she's readying a hatchet is an almost guaranteed hit, so often times they'll keep looping and try to break LOS before you can throw it. If you don't use your power after all, you can sometimes catch up before they make it back around to the pallet. This isn't reliable, though. Once people catch onto the fact that you aren't using your power (or figure you need to reload), this'll stop working.
The speed at least you can compensate for with Soldier's Puttee, though it's ultra rare so you won't have enough for every match.
@Shroompy said:
I played Trickster with no knives back when he was first released because I wanted his adept. (his emblems were bugged at the time, his power wouldnt properly count towards chase) It definitely wasnt easy considering he's fairly loud while in chase with how much he laughs and hes bright yellow. Huntress is louder, has a more distinct lullaby, and is taller. Playing a 110% with no power is definitely going to get old after a few games since youre handicapping yourself for no reason, and itll probably get old after a few games.
I really hope Switch 2 comes out next year, Peanits, so current Switch players can upgrade our consoles the way PS4 and XBOX ONE upgraded to PS5 and XBOX Series X/S
It's not for no reason though @Shroompy. I play on Nintendo Switch. Throwing a Hatchet at 15 FPS won't hurt anyone unless they're literally standing still.
I just wanted opinions but I'm not ignoring the Hatchets for no reason. As I mentioned above, I'm hoping for a Switch 2 Upgrade next year.

I have played a little bit of Huntress on Switch and using her hatchets is a challenge for sure. What controller do you use? I personally find that with the standard joy-cons, setting the sensitivity to 15% for both Killer and Survivor improves my game play quite a bit.
I know that sounds really low, but I think the game isn't well optimized for the standard Switch controllers and a lower sensitivity makes aiming the camera a little bit more precise and controllable. I recommend loading into a few custom bot games and trying out different sensitivities to see what works best for you. Hopefully you can improve with your Huntress hatchets that way. I think she's one of the most challenging Killers to get good with though, so I wouldn't feel too bad about missing your hatchets so often. I just play this Killer for fun, without an expectation to do well with her. Ranged Killers on the Switch are near impossible to play as imho.
It might also be worth investing in the pro controller or a decent 3rd party controller if you haven't already, though I can't recommend any since I mostly just use the joy-cons in a grip.
I use the official Switch Pro Controller (on my 3rd one now)
I'm in the process of training myself at a higher Killer Camera Sensitivity.
it's always been 50% now I'm constantly switching during my matches between 55% and 60%.
It's shocking how much of a difference 5% Sensitivity makes.
I'm interested in getting the sensitivity for my Killers up a bit as to be able to look around faster and do better in chases.
-
I really wish they adjusted the cornfield maps first as they are far worse in my opinion. They are way too yellowish/orange depending on your TV color settings.
I just loaded into several Custom Matches against bots to make colorblind adjustments, ect.
I can't win though. If I get the lightning and colorblind settings fairly less painful then Survivors scratch marks practically don't exist.
Cornfield maps are also awful as Survivor if you are using Kindred because the aura of the hooked Survivor just blends in with the map.

You can’t fake a hatchet to gain distance on a survivor. Pyramid Head can do that since he has almost zero punishment for using/ canceling his attack and he moves at 110 when holding his attack. Huntress moves at 77% when holding a hatchet and you lose a LOT of distance VERY quickly. It’s also a 2 second penalty for canceling a hatchet, AND the recovery time is TWO seconds lol. Which is insane, that means if you cancel a hatchet you have to wait 2 entire seconds before being able to swing on top of moving at 77%. Also they are playing on Switch not console, so it’s even harder.
Switch is console too.
I play it in docked mode on the TV.
Even I wouldn't try this game in handheld mode.

She only has a 20 meter Terror Radius but her Lullaby is 45-50 meters and once they know you are an M1 Huntress they will treat it as a terror radius instead of sitting on gens watching for hatchets, that’s what they do against me whenever I try it. Just something to keep in mind. Just play a handful of matches and see how it goes before you make a decision. And RIP on the cross play, these PC players stay sweaty AF.
Oh wow, I didn't know the Lullaby's Radius was different than the Killers TR!
I wonder what Freddy's Lullaby Radius is? Where do you go to find out?
In the bio in the store it only shows their regular Terror Radius...

Not only is Freddy faster but he also has dream snares that slow survivors by 15% for 3 seconds which is huge. Along with a smaller Terror radius (if we count hunty’s lullaby as a TR), being shorter in stature (making mind game easier, and being unelectable to asleep survivors. Those are the main differences but huge none the less.
I have no doubt you can get to IRI 1 while doing it but you’re definitely gonna have to get sweaty, well I guess it depends on what switch lobbies are like.
It's Crossplay so I play with all platforms. I didn't realize The Huntress had a huge Terror Radius.

Can you be a good M1 Huntress? Yes. Are you going to lose far more than any other killer in the game? Also yes.
I have a hundreds of hours on her alone and have played M1 Huntress countless times. Soldiers Putee will be a must run since it make you 115. Even then you are fighting a huge uphill battle as you’re essentially a M1 killer with a 45 meter terror radius.
My M1 Huntress build is Coupe De Grace, Bam, Pain and Pop. Because gens fly when you M1 only and when survivors find out you are M1 only they will W key like crazy and crush gens. But you’ll never be able to do good enough to go against very good survivors I don’t think you will have to worry too much about that.
Cool character, cool skins (I bought all of them lol) but very difficult to be an M1 killer. They don’t have any other type of controller support for switches? Or can you hook a keyboard up to it?No keyboard support unfortunately.
My main is Freddy and I could get up to Iridescent II on the old de-pip system with him.
The only difference would be movement speed when comparing M1 Huntress to Freddy, correct?

Aside from AGI and iron, slowdown (or if you feel spicy something for quicker downs like "make your choice") and info for perks. As HolyDarkly said, maps with basements near the center are preferred. Trapper, hag, billy, blight, nurse, oni, spirit, xeno (depends on tunnel spawns but since they're usually ok…), demo, bubba would be our choices for killer.
As some above said though, it's really REALLY hard to force these ones. Good luck.
I'm glad for this advice.
I was going to go eerie of crows because it's a small map and I figured it would be my best shot.
Basement in center is obviously a much better choice and I didn't even think of that.
Thank you and HolyDarkly both.
-
@Hex_Ignored said:
For the ones that don't require sacrifices, you can simply try and find some survivors that want to farm with you.
I seriously cannot believe I didn't think of this. I think I will try this with a Bloody Partystreamer offering.
-
@HolyDarky said:
For one and two: Use a map offering for a map that can have a basement in the middle of the map like Salon or Rotten Fields. Agitation and Iron Grab are enough for it - maybe Agitation might be enough especiallyon Salon. Two slowdown perks should be a good idea. Hag, Pyramidhead, Huntress, Artist, and Trickster are good killers for it because they can defend the basement pretty well and force trais there. Bubba can do the same but it could happen that survivors refuse to rescue against this killer, especially when they swf and know about Agitation and Iron Grab. Same goes for trapper. The clou is to make it not too obvious that you want basement hooks. So it should be difficult to rescue but not impossible. As a result, when you have basement hook, don't do obvious camping. Leave the area and give them some space to rescue especially with a good basement.
For three: it's basically the same but you have to hope that the survivors choke this match. In my opinion, this is the most difficult challenge because you need to kill all of them in the basement. So you could either be lucky and get it first match or not and some attempts. Maybe use there bubba and be a bit more aggressive and camp survivors to dead, especially with reliable slowdown like deadlock should this go well.
However, in the end you cannot force it. You will need some matches to get these challenges done, even with the best strategy. You can also play the game normally and one match it will happens.
I wish I had this challenge selected about 6 months ago. I literally had all 4 Survivors sacrificed in the basement at the same time just playing as Freddy on Haddonfield. It happened at 5 gens no less. Everyone wanted to be a hero and I wasn't even camping. I'll be shocked if the stars even align like that again.

Is it true Survivors can use this perk to cancel the Killer's Corrupt Intervention Perk?

The last sentence here, is something very true. We do remember the negative moments more than the positive ones, it seems to be human nature and that's pretty sad, we have a tremendous amount of lovely people in the community and I am sure they far outweigh the bad actors, just that our minds automatically focus on the negative ones.
Unfortunately, the internet allows people to behave in a specific way without repercussions and those that are inclined, take advantage of that fact.
I'd love if we can remove toxicity from gaming in general, they are supposed to be fun after all. Am welcome to hearing all ideas that people have for making this happen or at least improving how things feel.
You are correct.
We also misconstrue a player behavior from time to time.
I faced a Knight who put me on my second hook as the exit gates powered. I thought he was furious as the match did not go his way.
I was rescued and escaped and saw he was a TTV. I literally joined Twitch today just to stop by and say gg because he made some awesome plays that actually scared me.
Turns out he's just a cool guy chillin. He wasn't sweating at all nor was he upset.
I gave him the SPLENDID code which he was very grateful for and we are friends now.
I also had two daily rituals for Killers I never play tonight. The Survivors were "toxic" all match until they figured out what I was there for.
Both teams allowed me to complete my rituals out of kindness in the end.

All lunges end up the same distance regardless of the actual size of the weapon, so there's no real gameplay benefit to bringing any of the weapons. Omg Freddy is my main and I never knew that 😆

@Reinami said:
Every killer's lunge works exactly the same, the weapon you use doesn't have any impact on it.
The only exception to this is a handful of killers like:
- Myers in tier 3 has longer lunge
- Myers in tier 1 has a shorter lunge
- Nurse blink lunge is shorter
- Killers with Coup de Grace can lunge further
- Some killer addons like legion can make their lunge longer in their power.
But, for context, a killer's hitbox extends out about 2 meters (this is unproven for sure, but it appears to be that way based on my testing). And lunging makes you move forward and increases your movement speed to by 50% for 0.8 seconds. This amounts to 6.9 m/s This means that a full lunge is 5.52 meters + 2 meter hitbox. For slower killers that are 4.4, they actually increase their speed by 56.8%, and nurse increases by 79%, so it rounds out to NEARLY 6.9 m/s.
Now, when you factor in survivors moving, they move at 4.0 m/s, so for that 0.8 seconds, they actually moved away from you by 3.2 meters. So when you factor that in, you need to be 5.52 + 2 - 3.2 = 4.32 meters away from the survivor to actually lunge at them when they are running away from you.
EDIT: Changed the numbers which changed the math a bit, i was following old numbers i had, but now fixed it.
So the thickness of the pipe doesn't give me a better chance of a successful basic attack anymore than the skinny screwdriver?

For the first one, the signal from your PC/console is not going to be analog, so it would be unlikely to have a positive effect. It may cause the game to appear blurrier. The second seems to be very similar, but applying to edges. The game already has anti aliasing to help smooth those sharp edges, but it's ultimately up to your preference.
In either case, post processing effects can create input lag. It's small enough that it's usually not noticeable for video, but can be felt in some cases when it comes to gaming.
I'd second Pizzaman's suggestion to test them out in the tutorial if you're curious!

Hi Mandy,

It doesn't bother me or anything, I just wanted to know if you want me to report it to support as a bug since all other platforms should be on 7.7.1.
It is always just one Survivor. All other Survivor and Killers are on Switch.

Also, a new Tome page opened today. If a Survivor feels it can't be achieved, they go next.
I have also seen them go next after achieving it, giving themselves to the Killer and abandoning their team which is more disturbing.
I had two Survivors try to offer themselves to my Freddy after they healed themselves tonight. I left them to bleed out or eat the DC penalty and lose their achievement. Unbelievable.

Peer to Peer had it's issues. Mainly it was all of us playing with a terrible connection killer, so time in lobbies were spent dodging high ping killers since most issues would come from them (bad hit detection. Killer teleporting, etc.)
I believe we still got to keep our BPs if I remember correctly but it did consume our items and offerings before they changed that
Also, you have the added issue of killers lag switching (unplugging their LAN cable then plugging it back in to cause buggy issues that are in the killers favor as all survivors are unable to do anything since the games connection depended on the killer's
So if all 5 generators popped and the Killer wanted to be salty they could DC before you escaped to ensure that you lost your item?
