I have noticed that survivors are adapting and we won't go down easy. It used to be survivors giving up, DCing, but we are getting smarter.

We shouldn't have to carry perks to counter something that only gives us a one shot at getting up and most sluggers wait for it. Slugging has become an every game occurrence and I blame content creators for it. It wasn't this bad until they got rid of Prime Gaming and started making their players watch Twitch videos. Sad part is by the time they do something about it a lot of players will be lost.

you should carry perk… that's why it was created.. with your logic flashlights, grenades should be removed from game because i shouldn't have to take lightborn in every game because survivors might use grenades or flashlight (because in lobby you see their items but if they change it right now you don't know). why do i have to carry one perk that is useful only in specific situation? same dumb thing. you take perk to have chance to fight against something or you don't, your choice.

So what you're saying is that I should pursue my goal in any setting regardless of what the people I'm sharing it with think?

Please don't respond by saying 'it's the killer's goal'. I'm interested in the answer to that exact question. If I have a goal, should I pursue it regardless of what other people feel or think about my approach to achieving my goal?

what? do you understand that as killer you do not share any goal with survivors in the first place?? not youre trying to flip the situation or what?? you don't even understand what i'm saying….

People do blame the devs, however they do nothing and actually don't even acknowledge the problem. I would like to say that if you insta-down the first survivor in 5 seconds and they kill themself on hook and the rest of the survivors just stop trying and you still choose to slug for the 4k, lol. Wow, you're truly part of this community.

most of them still blame killers and not devs. nah, they simply don't care enough about players to change anything.
if they stop trying then there is no need for slugging for 4k but i always make sure they won't change their mind, i was fooled by that few times, and fooled by killer as survivor too… which means i hook normally first 2 guys and if 4th is close to 3rd i don't slug but if i don't see the last one or im not sure if he is around i do slug because i don't like chasing last 2 guys for another 5 minutes who at this point are just wasting time because 2 surv can't win probably more than 90% games.

    I play with friends.

Killers with any sort of instadown ability can slug you basically forever with zero counterplay if they are halfway intelligent.

well if they slug you not for 4k but just to leave there they are 100% toxic, but im talking about survs who cries because killer are slugging for 4 kills

Let's think about this critically for a few seconds: assuming hatch didn't exist, what is the outcome of a 2v1 scenario? Do survivors suddenly have an incentive to not hide? Why should the game be over for the survivors in a 2v1?

A 3k is quite literally counted as a win by the game. That is not an opinion. Your MMR increases on a 3k. It's treated as a win.

You're free to slug for a 4k. But if you're going to do it, you should be ok with people being irritated that you're wasting everyone's time when you do it. It's basic social EQ. If you play a game with other people, many are not going to want to play with you if you play a certain way.

if hatch didnt exist then slugging would be pointless. hatch is basically to shorten game by forcing 4th surv to escape after 3 are dead but it means 1 can always escape so killers are slugging 3rd one to get that last one. not players fault but devs, always

Playing a game 'against' someone is included in the term 'playing with' them. You don't say 'I played Scrabble against my friends'. People instead say 'I played Scrabble with my friends.'

It's not reasonable to interact with other people in any setting and not care about what they think. We can think other people are wrong and even discuss that with them, but expecting other people to do the courtesy of interacting with us while we disregard their thoughts and feelings is very self-centered and unhealthy.

when you play as killer, the other 4 are your enemies, just like 5 guys from other team in counter strike or idk valorant. sure you play WITH them as in the same match but they are not your teammates. your job is to kill them, put them down, not let them escape. you should only care about that. ofc sometimes when you see survs are just playing around, doing dumb stuff so you play WITH them making more points etc. but most of the times survivors are your enemies as killer. killer's job i to put them down and not letting them escape.

  • @smurf said:

Hiding to evade the killer is a method of trying to enable an escape, either for the hiding survivor or even for their teammate. The last survivor in a slug for 4k situation will very often hide while sneaking to the slug in order to get the save.

And sure, on rare occasions, the last two survivors will both hide for hatch, but as killer I almost never see both doing it. And as survivor, I'll hide to get a moment to get my bearings, and then go do gens. I rarely see the last two survivors manage to hide for minutes at a time. And even if it happens, killer instinct kicks in to prevent a long hide-and-seek match.

and killer's job is to make sure survivors cant escape… if that require slugging one guy then i'll do it every single time.

  • and i can say the same thing about survivor who is hiding and forcing killer to look for him ;)

if killer is slugging for last kill it means that last survivor is hiding and leaving one teammate. that's not fair to that slugged one

I don't think that is correct.

The killer could have missed the other one because he didn't patrol the areas he should have. The killer could have brought Knock Out and tried to slug everyone from the start. The killer could simply just want to see the mori. There are countless reasons why it happens, but at the end of the day it is their choice.

And, like or not, stealth is part of the game.

Even in the very specific scenario you've mentioned, I guarantee you the slugged survivor would rather you kill them and let the other get hatch than do nothing on the ground for 4 minutes.

stealth is one thing but hiding like a p**** is just toxic as much as slugging and not killing is.

I see that you said 'no one cares about your feelings and your opinion".

That's a very unhealthy approach to any interaction with other people. If someone doesn't want to care about the feelings and opinions of other people, they shouldn't be playing games with other people.

but playing killer is playing against other people not with so as killer why should i care about what survivors think. if i won against 4 people it means i was better or they made some bigger mistakes.

  • @GeneralV said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3857925#Comment_3857925

They don't always use it because sometimes they can't. Survivors are always told to bring a perk against every killer strategy in the game. Just run anti-camp, just run anti-tunnel, just run anti-slug, just run something to counter the slowdown, just run something for healing, and the newest one, just run Counterforce.

    You can't counter everything.

    don't blame killer for slugging

    It is their choice.

    don't waste everyone's time.

Slugging IS the waste of time, thats the point. A match where the killer kills the third survivor and goes for the hatch doesn't waste anyone's time.

ofc you can't counter everything, killers cant do it too. if killer is slugging for last kill it means that last survivor is hiding and leaving one teammate. that's not fair to that slugged one. but nobody is talking about that, funny thing. the last survivor is the one wasting time beacuse he force killer to look for him instead of just killing 3rd, because if he kills 3rd right away then camper will 90% win, but he don't deserve hatch after hiding xD, he did not earn, 3rd one deserved because he tried but got caught.

  • @GeneralV said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3857918#Comment_3857918

That is not the only reason killers slug. Sometimes they go into a match with the intention of slugging from the start.

then they slug for the sake of slugging not for 4k, then they are toxic. but surv who is hiding and not doing what he should is also toxic for his teammates.

  • @GeneralV said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3857915#Comment_3857915

They are. Their only chance is the hatch.

And yes, everyone can get UB. Which can only be used once per trial. And even if you get up, it is very difficult for the 2 remaining survivors to do the remaining gens, unless there was only one gen left to fix and one of the three gens available to repair already had a lot of progress, but that isn't a scenario you're likely to see.

if they don't use pekrk it's not my problem. if you chose not to use certain perks that can let you win/escape by hatch then it's your choice. don't blame killer for slugging to get full team down especially when last surv is hiding and forcing killer to chase after him XD. sooo if 2 can't win then why we even talking about slugging for 4k? you can't win with one mate so give up, don't waste everyone's time.

  • @MaTtRoSiTy said:

If I am playing killer I personally never bother slugging for the 4k, unless I am doing an adept or the team was particularly toxic and then it is spite thing more than anything.

But if you slug for the 4k you are actively choosing to waste people's time, so if I am slugged I actually hope my random team mate does hide it out. If you are going to waste my time then I am happy for them to waste your time while you look for them for 4 minutes, then if they don't find the hatch before you I hope they hide it out for the entire EGC too, I know I sure do.

If someone finds hatch before me on both sides, I am fine with RNG deciding rather than wasting everyone's time. But I will waste someone's time out of spite lol

i slug for 4th when i don't see 4th guy around… im not the one wasting time by hiding and leaving teammates. if the last one escapes after playing actively, he deserved 100%. but hiding?? nope. hiding is wasting everyone's time, killer's and slugged surv's.

  • @GeneralV said:

The killer chooses to slug, not the survivors.

They can simply choose not to.

survs choose to hide and not doing their job

But you can't design the game around the last survivor being helpless, either.

The moment you can secure a 3k, you've already won. The last one escaping isn't a big deal.

last one is not hopeless and anti slug perk is from free surv

Well if a killer can slug the entire team either the killer is broken or matchmaking is, sometimes both.

ofc matchmaking is bad… in one of my first game as killer i slugged whole bully squad, i barely knew what slugging is or hatch. now i can't play as killer because i play against much much better surv teams

  • @smurf said:

Actually I agree with this statement. I'm sure you and I disagree about the means used to do it, but I also don't care about bp or 'winning'.

I do take into consideration the experience of the other players in the game though. So if there's a slug I left because I was chasing someone who hid around a corner with a flashlight, I'll always go back and look for the slug if they're still down. No bleeding people out intentionally... unless I've full-team slugged a bully squad... no excuse for people who intentionally make other people's games worse.

slugging just for slugging is toxic i agree and once i slugged whole team because i couldn't hook anyone (they were literally bullying me around shack) so i left them on the ground. i only slug for 4th kill and sometimes i pick up 3rd and let them leave but campers won't change their mind.

  • @smurf said:

But that isn't what you said. You said three kills isn't a win. But it actually is.

Not only that, but saying '4 targets means 4 kills' doesn't address anything about slugging, in general or for 4k.

first of all you have to accept that hatch causes slugging for 4k…slugging for 4k is used to avoid 4th surv escaping ;)… and in most cases that 4th guy was just hiding somewhere, letting his team die. no, im not gonna let anyone escape when i play killer, my job is to make sure noone escapes… i don't care what you think about what is win or what's not. there are 4 survivors and one killer, means 4 survivors have to die. IF YOU DON'T LIKE LONG GAMES WITH HIDE N SEEK then don't hide until 3 teammates are dead XD. if you rly want that hatch then earn it. you don't deserve hatch if you can't survive without hiding. we play for points, points are for objectives like helping other survs, repairing, sabotage, looping and leaving killer, stunning killer etc. not for hiding. noone cares about your feelings and your opinion, devs created slugging mechanic and hatch to use it.. you don't like it?? then don't play this game because people will continue hiding and leavin their teams to get hatch, slugging and being toxic and all you can do is accept that or uninstall dbd

If a survivor bleeds out all the way, the game doesn't count it as a kill. Why do something that the game doesn't count as a kill if all you are going for is kills?

dead is good enough. main goal for killers is to prevent survivors from escaping.

So what I'm hearing is that it is somehow the fault of the other survivors in the lobby that you are actively making the decision to bleed someone out instead of just hooking them and racing the last survivor to the hatch?

You do realize that a win for killers is 3 sacrifices right? Even if you hook and the last survivor escapes you still won the match.

You could move on from that match and be tormenting 4 new people in the time it takes you to sit there and let someone bleed out.

Survivors are not entitled to a hatch escape the same way killers are not entitled to 4k.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3855370#Comment_3855370

Nobody is "literally" forcing you to bleed people out. This is a choice you are actively making.

If I see a killer wasting my time with this garbage you can bet I'm going to turn around and do the same.

Why would i take a risk of losing by racing someone i don't even know where is to place i don't know where is? XD That's not my problem if you can't take L. 3 kills is not a win XD. Killer's job is getting 4kills, kill everyone before anyone escape XD. They wouldn't make it 4v1 if 3 kills was everything.

  • @smurf said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3855330#Comment_3855330

Regarding the low chance of the last survivors escaping: Hatch was implemented to do two related things: prevent a long drawn out hunt, and give the last survivor a reason to play out the endgame. The last survivor should have a reasonable chance at escape or else the match should just end as soon as the third survivor is down.

Slugging for 4k forces the third survivor to wait on the ground for several minutes unable to do anything while the killer goes to get their nearly guaranteed fourth kill during some long, slow hunt. And now, the killer can top that off by doing a victory dance over the slug once they've finished their hunt.

Also, it doesn't matter that bleedout is a basic mechanic, the question stands: Are you saying that since people can make their time easier by making other people have a bad time, they should do that?

AGAIN… it's not killer's problem that last survivor left you behind and won't help you.

  • @UknownShredder said:

literally forced to have some people bleed out because they even burn offerings to know where the hatch is.

another reason to blame hatch mechanic and not killer XD.. BUT that offering is also giving killer info BUT in that case survivors can outplay you by sacrificing one of them in some corner of the map far away from hatch, another reason for slugging

what? xD bleeding out is basic mechanic, why youre so mad at killers for using it to get 4th kill?? 2 survs already have almost 0% chance of wining together anyway

  • then play with other people as team?? so they wont leave you bleeding out? XD thats not killer's problem that your'e in team with bad people

I still think once you're fully recovered you should be able to press the rush button to enter "Desperation" and: -

    • Crawl 50% faster
    • Make 50% louder grunts of pain
    • Bleed out 75% faster

I also think a player in the dying state should be able to:

    • Swap items on the floor and in chests
    • Open chests at a 25% penalty
    • Use a key to open a closed hatch

At least this gives something for the slugged player to actually TRY to escape, rather than just sit and wait to die. Also Temacity value.

ah yes yes yes lets prevent killers from getting 4 kills just because YOU as surv are playing with trolls/selfish people

The answer to that question is already written in both of my previous comments you've responded to. I'll copy/paste the relevant part here again:

"... slugging for 4k causes two people to wait for up to several minutes in a nearly impossible situation. The last survivor has essentially no hope of escape as soon as the third survivor is slugged. Forcing such a situation in a game is already unsportsmanlike. But beyond that, the third survivor has to wait on the ground for up to several minutes. It is astonishing that a person would think it's okay to do that in a game that's supposed to be fun for the people playing it."

The game is supposed to be fun for all players. But by slugging for 4k, the killer forces the last two survivors to literally waste their time in a situation that nearly guarantees that the other players have a poor outcome. And that's not even being done so the killer can 'win' since the game is already considered a 'win' when a 3k is achieved.

We are playing this game with other people, so it is necessary to consider the experience of those other people when we play. That means that survivors shouldn't be teabagging, and killers shouldn't be tunneling, camping, or slugging for 4k. I'm not saying that anyone is forced to act well toward other people, only that they should.

Realistically, BHVR should be finding ways to police those behaviors enough that they almost never happen. Personally, I know that I'm playing less now than I used to because I see the game stuck in a place where people keep doing things that ruin the experience of other players. When I think of loading up a match, I also wonder what the point of it will be because of things like this. But I've held out some hope that they'll make it better, hence still staying a little involved in the community.

eh.. youre still ignoring how the game is designed.. its only your problem as survivor if you cant win, rly.. the killer's job is to kill every survivor before they escape.. 3 kills is not win

  • your goal as killer is to kill survivors, not let anyone escape.. the game is designed to encourage killers to kill every single one

  • @smurf said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3852273#Comment_3852273

The killer isn't helping you by not slugging for 4k; they're following the expected gameplay loop.

Not only that, but slugging for 4k causes two people to wait for up to several minutes in a nearly impossible situation. The last survivor has essentially no hope of escape as soon as the third survivor is slugged. Forcing such a situation in a game is already unsportsmanlike. But beyond that, the third survivor has to wait on the ground for up to several minutes. It is astonishing that a person would think it's okay to do that in a game that's supposed to be fun for the people playing it.

What you're suggesting is that every game should end in a game of hide-and-seek that wastes the time of two people unless one player decides to 'help' two other players.

the question is why shouldnt he leave you on the ground until he gets last one??? hiding can let last survivor escape, perks can let survivor escape when 3rd is dying on hook… why should killer let that happen and risk losing

  • @smurf said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3852019#Comment_3852019

Please elaborate. It's not clear what those words mean.

if you cant survive on your own to get chance to use hatch without killer's help you should be sacrificed like others because there are many ways to survive until hatch is open like bill's perk to get up on your own to counter slugging.. because why would killer help you

  • @smurf said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3851817#Comment_3851817

Slugging for 4k is a cheap play, practically guaranteeing the last kill when the last survivor should be getting a hatch race. By circumventing hatch, slugging for 4k literally creates exactly the situations hatch was designed to avoid; it puts the last survivor in a nearly impossible scenario where they're almost certain to be sacrificed, and at the same time creates a long dawn-out hunt that can last for several minutes. At the same time, slugging for 4k forces the third survivor to just sit and wait on the ground during that time, literally wasting the time of a person who'd probably like to just get to their next game. And slugging for 4k isn't even about 'winning' since the game is considered a win by the MMR system at a 3k.

That act of forcing the last survivor into a situation where they have no realistic chance of escape, and forcing the third survivor to waste several minutes just doing nothing but waiting for death, all to get something that doesn't make a difference between winning and losing all seems like very bad sportsmanship. I'd say it's not wrong to call that toxic since it makes multiple players wait in a pointless situation for several minutes, essentially just wasting their time.

Having said that, I agree with many of your other points. Someone sabos the hook you're carrying a survivor to? Drop the survivor and chase the sabotager. Down someone and have to chase people off gens? Leave the slug and run straight to the gen. But slugging for 4k has a very different set of effects than tactical slugging in such other scenarios. It's incredibly easy to pull off and is wildly tilted in the killer's favor while forcing survivors into a game of hide-and-seek that can draw out the endgame for several minutes.

should be getting hatch?? no… if you cant survive by yourself without killer's mercy then you dont deserve hatch

  • slugging itself is not toxic, its necessary strategy when you know someone will come get you from hook or there are only 2 surv left… it become toxic when killer is putting you down just to leave it here and let you bleed out or picking you up to walk few meters and put you down again until you die

i won one game by slugging whole team just because they were always camping on hooks and i couldnt hook anyone so i just put them all down and let them bleed out as a punishment
