Originality. I get there's a meta for every killer but after a while it gets really boring to face as a survivor every Blight uses Shadowborn and speed add-ons and every Wraith uses speed breaking add-ons. I won't as much as I dislike Wraith because of how his counter works or the fact slamming a pallet down doesn't seem to work even though I pressed my button first before he swung its more annoying that every Wraith just brings add-ons to break stuff faster since I won't lie he does have other good add-ons its also because I'm tired of hearing that bell for the tenth time in a single chase.
What non-meta, completely original, survivor perks are you running every game, my guy?

How do I obtain this killstreak power using Myers? π€
-
Dunno why, he lore is pretty good if you like Laura Croft-type characters with a splash of occultism. Her scream and grunts are probably why, though. π
-
SWF makes it really difficult for me to jumpscare people with Mirror Myers. Everyone in SWF comms that "it's a Myers, he's coming your way".π
-
That would be creepy, and that's one of the elements that the game needs.
-
Take chases for your team, or you'll never escape games if you only focus on your own survival and ignore everyone else taking the initial chases or hook saves while you hide and do only gens. What you're putting yourself in is a position to hope for a hatch escape most games.
-
There's no scratch marks, and no consistent loud grunts of pain so it would be easier to hide, but chases would be done instantly if found. π

Yeah, the horror factor of DBD has suffered greatly.
The main problem, at least in my opinion, are the map reworks. Even if you disregard the fact that no one asked for those changes, they've completely removed the horror atmosphere and eerie factor the maps used to have. Just look at Coldwind Farm, that one is a perfect example.
Oh, and the fog. There needs to be more fog, just like it used to be. How can they say their famous line of "see you in the fog" if most maps don't have the actual fog?
Sure, some people will use that same argument of "after a long time playing this game, it is no longer scary". And as repetitive as it is to see this exact same argument every time this kind of discussion pops up, they are right.
That, however, doesn't change the fact that there is a very clear difference between having a scary atmosphere and having nothing at all. At least the game is making an effort, you know?
Judging by the proposed "Disgustingly Scary" mode, the developers seem to be aware of this issue; If they will do something about it remains to be seen.
I agree 1000% on this. It feels like BHVR took DBD down the same route as Capcom with Resident Evil; RE1-RE3 truly gave eerie and horror vibes with the traditional zombies, then RE4 and RE5 came with the new action-like playstyle, but Wesker was just such a badass in RE5 that he's never considered scary or threatening really even when he chases you in the particular stages of the game (Hell, it turned to Sheva and Chris putting hands on my boy like what?). Sure, Capcom brought back a horror vibe with the later installments, though it wasn't what made RE what RE is. Feels like DBD went down that route and there's less incentive to go back to the roots, but make it more about exciting chases and map updates with pallets and better graphics.

There's really not much for us to do, my guy. What do you want us to do, stare at a wall and wait for you to come sacrifice us? Ahaha...π
There's:
Doing Hexes - If you got one in the match, sure many of us will be going hunting for it.
Being Altruistic - Helping a teammate on their last hook by taking a chase, which rarely works since the killer usually still goes after the targeted survivor and downs them even if we get downed for the other survivor. Timely unhooks for those clutch saves. Healing a homie up.
Runner - If I'm not a complete Nea bot to last long enough for at least 2 gens before going down.
Doing Gens - You?

I'm truly impressed by you guys. You somehow manage to persevere in playing Dead by Daylight. Meanwhile, I had this game for free on epic playing less than 30 hours and I already fell asleep during a match on my sofa. I had a mm penalty for 5 minutes. It's nothing but
- Insane grind
- Bugs
- Tunneling
- Sitting on generator pressing a single button all the time
- Bad matchmaking
- This game is unbalanced
- Searching for a match takes a lot of time
- Skins are way too expensive
I can't believe how boring this game is. I try hard to play this game but I physically can't. I uninstalled and moved on.
Nice, that's awesome. Proud of you. Thank you for sharing how you don't like the game and have moved on.

I played nearly 20 hours in dead by daylight. How can someone have fun in this game? You just sit on a generator and press 1 button to hit some boring skillcheck. You get tunneled. You get gen rushed. For the first time in my life, I fell asleep on my chair. I never felt so bored in my life. It's like a babysitting simulator, with loading screens and errors. The game is terribly balanced, there are bugs and the graphics are bad. I had killers who used hex pentimento and NOED and I never could see the hex totems auras. How this game is still going on for more than 7 years is unbelievable to me. Don't people have self respect and taste in video games? I honestly feel bad for y'all.
I'm glad I had this for free on Epic Games because I would have felt extremely bad for myself if I'd spent my money on this video game. I don't recommend this game to my friends, colleagues or my family for that matter.
I'm not trying to convince anyone to stop, I just never felt like this. It's depressing.
Difference in what entertains you. Not everyone will like what you like; what you find fun is boring af for others. There's no answer to really give. It's fun for us, and boring for you.

I do what I be doing as a survivor: gens, altruistic, taking chases, eliminating Hexes; if I'm sac'd I still did a good job.
Killer, if I did my best and survivors escape it's a loss, but a good game.
At it's core, being sac'd is a loss, and getting none to one sac is a loss.
-
Bro, I be using Kindred and that seems to make the situation more confusing for a ton of survivors, I'm not even talking about beginners, I'm talking about people who should know better based off high prestige level alone. Survivors who intentionally run the killer to you when you're almost done with a gen and don't finish it when you happily take chase and just wander off somewhere or just spectate the chase until you're downed. Survivors who will use everything, meaning sandbagging you to the maximum efficiency, in their power to ensure they don't get wounded when they haven't even been hooked. Survivors when they gather around the camping hook singing kumbaya together until you're in the final hook phase to gather up the courage to unhook only to leave you to run the killer again and be sac'd. Survivors who don't like altruism to the smallest degree, you'll be hooked once and that will literally be your game because no one will unhook and do a gen from start to finish when it's still at 5 or 4 then will get sac'd too once it's down to just 3 (severely lacking situational awareness).
The list goes on. It's honestly more annoying for me to play survivor than killer because when playing killer I can actually deal with losing against a good team of SWF and improve upon my review of that game; my own skills can be adjusted and perks changed to give me a better chance. With Survivors, even if you can solo chases, even if you are good at situational awareness, you will still be sac'd, because it's still on the individual survivors to know what they actually should be doing at the moment, and it's a staggering amount of them that don't. Solo Q is basically hoping everyone can be somewhat efficient.

Tunnel, proxy camp, tunnel, proxy camp, slug, tunnel, slug, proxy camp. Such fun games.
Y'all killers really throw an entire game because a good survivor ran you around for a little too long and instead of breaking chase and patrolling gens you continue chase until 3 gens pop and then camp or tunnel one out. Even worse are the ones who tunnel and camp at 5 gens π
As a 50/50 killer/survivor I don't understand how y'all find that fun at all or rewarding? I get that a lot of survivors are over altruistic and throw the game trying to help that survivor but most of the time the gens get done and 3 get out
I used to be frustrated at my killer mains out there when they'd camp and tunnel, but the more I played the more I realized that they're just trying to get what hooks/sacs they could get and that I found myself more annoyed when my survivors weren't doing gens, wandering around acting lost, or having very poor unsuccessful attempts to save me (i.e. standing somewhere that wasn't well covered like a small bush or little tree lol). I'm fine with getting hooked and camped, but I'm not fine when my team is waiting to be hooked themselves.

FNAF? Is this where you want to be? I just don't get it.. Why would you want to have FNAF?
-
I like trolling other survivors I'll do a co-op action with them then suddenly stop and throw a snowball at them then go back to that action.π
I like throwing snowballs at killers chasing me as an fun alternative to teabags or flashlights at a pallet. It works sometimes, but most times that just makes the killer see red.

I wouldn't blame him at all, either. Look at No0b3, arguably the biggest name in DBD, he quit years ago with only randomly showing up to post a vid or two every year or so. AngryPug is trying to not say adios, so he plays other games to subdue that tension and stress. Umbra, a well-known DBD streamer who mains Huntress is pushing herself to play only due to the fact that it's what primarily brings her income. Lots of other well-known streamers are becoming less and less active in DBD as well. Otz, Ayrun, skermz, and JRM are like the few very well-known players that are actively playing daily and creating content often together. People need breaks from this game, it's healthy, especially when balance isn't there.

SWF is just a different level; talking about players who aren't new or just terrible at the game, rather players that know even the basics of their perks and maps. Just because you're playing and chilling with your friends doesn't mean you aren't capable of playing well, or that the killer isn't sweating for that down.

A solution like this won't happen because it would require BHVR to accurately track and update "broken" perk combos and restrict them in teams. Not to mention, this doesn't stop you as killer from facing 4 well-coordinated solo players who can all bring these "busted" combos and use them to the fullest.
If there's a busted or problematic perk combo in the game (FTP+BU) just remove it. Restricting SWF from using it won't make it not appear in your games.
Also side note but I think it's funny that you consider Windows of Opportunity a busted SWF perk
The thing is though, we know which perks are used the most in these SWF matches, and BHVR does nerf the killer or survivor perks that are overused and complained about so tracking which ones are popular in matches wouldn't be much of an issue, I'd imagine. Solo is a different spectrum than with SWF though: no comms, no info on the other's perks, no coordinated combos from each other's perks unless you are that good where you can instantly read that well what the other survivors have somehow.
The issue we're having here is the perks being busted in SWF, not solo. Solo is a mixed bag and even the best players can make mistakes because a lack of info or making the wrong decision because of it not being SWF; you're going off purely on your own abilities to make good decisions and not on the team's through swift real-time communication. But true about WoO, as a Survivor main who uses WoO, it's not busted, it's just overused, and for good reason, tbh; M1 killers don't really stand much of a chance if you're running WoO and going from one area to the next knowing which pallets have and have not been used.

Not only good survivor perks are getting nerfed, now if you wanna play with your friends you wont be able to use the "good" perks
Gee, some people here really wants the game to die, no?
Limiting the same overused perks in a SWF makes it more creative, fun, and less bland. Using the same carbon-copy strong builds is what kills the game, not diversity.
-
SWF shold have a limit of which perks can be used. Having the same busted SWF perks (perks and combos like FTP + BU; Adrenaline, WoO, etc.) makes more situations insane when in a SWF. Perks gain a marginally large increase in value when with SWF and shouldn't be used in multiple builds. I always liked to have a team comprised of a Runner, a Gen Jockey, a Healer, and a Jack of All, that way it can be more fun and require more teamwork and accountability.
-
When someone tries to be a superhero and ends up jumping down for a save and gets downed instead. Also, funny angry survivor messages post-match be the best; it's always everyone else but them.
-
It's funny how certain perks are stronger when in a SWF, isn't it? It's almost like everything is communicated to each other. In solo, people don't know you have the perk, more than likely they will be moving on the ground when you try to even touch them, so in return you get a hit for even attempting to make a save and have to dip off to narnia or get downed as well.
-
My fav licensed, and probably scariest/creepiest, killer in DBD. With how things been since his release as the 5th Killer in DBD in '16 he definitely needs some very careful and effective adjustments to adequately adjust to the ever-changing times of the game. I see him as one of the old remnants of what DBD used to be about (creepiness and scare-factor of a killer) and actually still maintaining it even now. Scratch Mirror Myers is the most fun you'll get out of him when you're looking to have players change their underwear after the match. lol
I feel as though there should be a way to make him more fun/enjoyable yet challenging for Survivors, but keeping him in the top as one of the scariest in the game. I have a few ideas in mind to throw out there:
π‘A massive revamp of his EW Tier system. I'd like to see it surpass EW3 and go up to even EW5 with each tier granting a unique ability and increasing m/s, lunge attacks, vaulting speed, his signature vanishing act (if that's even possible without making him OP AF), maybe even removing the TR completely mid-chase in the higher tier(s) as chases become more intense (like in the movies where he would get into a heated chase and the victim turns around and he's suddenly disappeared).
π‘A toggle option for his EW tiers. This has been suggested numerous times by other players and seems like a great idea. To be able to manually drop or go up a tier at will as long as the EW meter is full.
π‘Improved Stalk ability. Improve Stalk m/s and rate at which EW is gained, either inherently or by improving add-on(s) (while nerfing the strongest ones as a good trade-off).
π‘Add-on adjustments. Tuft and the Tombstones in particular need a balanced rework.
π‘A more intense tier or chase theme after passing EW3 like the Halloween Kills tracks titled "Rampage" and "Unkillable" to signify the severity of the situation.
There's more to go on in detail about Myers being reworked but these are the ones I can immediately think of.
-
It's frustrating when you try to do chases, gens, or end the game and there's that random(s) who always hides away the majority of the game. It's always been an constant issue since 2016 (Immersed Blendette with UE PTSD) , though.
-
Blendette PTSD. The random bush jumpscares, bro.

How do you all play in SoloQ without this perk? I never go in without it and I'd like to try not to depend on it and mix up my loadout.
If nobody is using it, how does anybody know who is closest to the hooked survivor? How do you function without it, those of you that do? π€
There's pretty much enough info provided to you on the screen. Is someone doing a gen? Is someone down or hooked? Are you or a teammate in a chase? etc.
-
Pain Res, Pop, Deadlock, Brine, Surge, Ruin, etc, gives multiple options to regress and block gens. Pain + Res + Deadlock is probably overkill or too much of an hassle when you want to pop the next highest progressing gen and it's blocked but yeah it's there. Survivors have strong perks outside of just gen progression, so not just chase perks, but Gens fly by so fast that gen regression is mainly the priority pick and of course killers will run the optimal build.

Tunneling is as direct to the objective as going from gen to gen. It's a playstyle not everyone will enjoy, but it's essentially just playing the game the most optimal way. Get upset all day long, it's going to still be part of the game.
-
SWF is so coordinated that games tend to star feeling stale or bland. Solo Q is like a circus or closing your eyes before going through a door; you never know what you'll get. For the most part, Solo is a literal nightmare.
