Because the killer will do everything in their power to tunnel you out, or camp you on hook in end game.
Just played a game against Freddy with 3 other randoms. I ran him for gens but he finally caught me on the last one. My first hook turned into my last one, because he was hard proxy camping me and all of my teammates weren’t sure how to get the save.
I did all the work but was the one who died in the end.
Tunneling and Camping suck so much man.
Distortion and Adrenaline, my friend. Distortion hides your aura from Lethal Pursuer at the start of the match (and throughout the match if the killer is running aura-reading perks/add ons). If you're in chase at the end of the game and Adrenaline activates, I've noticed most killers just drop chase and go for someone else.

Maybe the shape shifting aspect can be aside from its main power. Like instead of using shape shifting to try to catch survivors off guard, the Thing will just progressively take on the appearance of the survivors as it gets hits/downs/hooks until its just a grotesque amalgamation of the survivors (think the blighted legion skin with all four member's bodies fused into one). It's main power could be some copy/paste of other killers' powers like we've been seeing lately lol /s

Five second stun and it should completely freeze the killer's power for 5-10 seconds. There needs to be some sort of special consideration for killers like nurse, blight, spirit, etc. I'd honestly make it 80 seconds so it has better synergy with OTR. Tunneling should be a high risk high reward strategy. Not the guaranteed win that it is now.
I don't think freezing the killer's power is the way to go. You'll essentially be tailoring the perk around the top 3 or so strongest killers while completely hindering the rest of the killer roster that are not as strong.
-
Dead Hard is almost always in my build. It's no where near as strong as before but still pretty solid. Although it doesn't happen as much as before, I still see many killers wait it out, especially if they know the "signs" to look for that a survivor is running it.
Also, didn't the devs say at one point they were going to update the animation for Dead Hard when it got nerfed? I wonder what happened to that.
-
I use Distortion for stealth. Kindred for info (bonus since it helps your team as well). Dead Hard to extend chases. Prove for gen speed.

See what I don’t get is the “red stain”. I think it would be more like a horror game if they didn’t know where you were coming from unless they see you. If I’m not able to see them before they turn a corner they shouldn’t be able to me before I even turn a corner. Also the fact I can’t use chuckys shortness to my advantage because they can see my footprints through walls pretty much makes it impossible to win as chucky
Survivors have the killer's red stain to help them keep track of them during chases.
Killers have the survivor's scratch marks to help them keep track of them during chases.
If we remove the red stain, then we should get rid of scratch marks then to balance things out.

MMR isn't real. I can die 10, 20, 30 matches in a row as survivor and still get thrown to P100 Blights and Nurses on the next one.
Prestige levels have nothing to do with MMR. But I agree nonetheless. I rarely ever go against baby killers no matter how many times I die.
-
Oh that explains it! I've been using Plaything recently and noticed that totems have lasted throughout the match. I didn't even know it was bugged. Yikes!
-
I run Lethal Pursuer on almost all my builds as killer. I've noticed that as my MMR has gone up, the amount of Distortion users has gone up as well. I used to get no distortion users in my games and now I'll sometimes have matches where there's 2-3 survivors running it. I don't purposely tunnel or camp (unless I absolutely need to) but I sort of just go by the "if I see you, I chase you" motto. I don't really focus on whether "x survivor was just hooked so I must not chase them". I just play and go with the flow.
-
That would actually be kind of cool. I think the current illusions are only scary/effective when you're barely starting out as survivor. Once you've gone against Doc a couple of times they're kind of just there. Having them move around would definitely mess with survivors a bit more.
-
@Pulsar said:
There can only be a punishment for tunneling.
There is NOTHING the Devs can implement that will be stronger than removing a player from the game in the first two minutes. Therefore, there is no way to encourage spreading pressure. Even if you made PR basekit and 25% for every Survivor not hooked twice in a row, people would still tunnel because removing someone from the match is STILL STRONGER
I am a survivor main but I completely agree with this statement. Tunneling a survivor out early in the match is objectively the most effective way to guarantee a win as killer. We also have to keep in mind that some killers tunnel not because they want to win, but because they just want to troll or "bully" survivors for whatever reason. At the end of the day, a killer who wants to tunnel, is going to do so regardless of any anti-tunnel mechanics the devs implement.
-
I am not a killer main, but when I do play killer I'll play Legion. I've always noticed that survivors either DC or give up when going against Legion, and I don't even play super sweaty or anything. I don't tunnel/camp/etc and survivors will still DC/give up. Unfortunately, I think there are just some killers that survivors hate going against and they'll just do what they can to get out of the match asap.

Here's an example in a game i JUST played.
So i intentionally was playing nice. Trying to go for chases and go for multiple hooks on everyone. I hook a guy near a gen at like 80%, there were 3 gens left for them to do. I leave the hook, start chasing someone else. The guy gets unhooked right. So i turn to look over, and he IMMEDIATELY hops on that gen at 80%. Meaning i now KNOW he doesn't have OTR, he doesn't have DS, he doesn't have BT, he has nothing. He is still injured, and he isn't healing.
In this situation, i chose not to go for him, because i was intentionally playing nice. I ended up still getting a win that game anyway, and that isn't what is important. The point i'm making is. If i had gone after that guy, and punished him for his mistake there. I would have been called out, called a "tunneler trash killer" etc. So my point is. Why is it ok for survivors to do what the guy did, but the killer punishing that guy is suddenly some kind of grand injustice? I'm merely pointing out the double standard here and wondering why most people aren't seeing it.
Doing the gen is the most logical thing for him to do in that situation. It's nearly complete and you are not coming after him. Why waste time doing anything else?

I don’t know how licensing and stuff works I just know she’s one of the most wanted characters in dbd. I really hope it’s her.
They can add Sid as a character to DBD but not have her have Neve's likeness (kinda like Sigourney Weaver for the Alien Chapter).

Dweet's 8 bit pizza hoodie came out before i started playing and every time i see someone using it I cry because I want it so bad. Plz add it to the store BHVR!

The real hilarious thing is some of those 'interconnected tunnels' are not actually connected at all. Some of the two story buildings in Haddonfield and other places have a tunnel on the 2nd floor where CLEARLY there could never realistically be a tunnel... Like...what? It just looks stupid. BHVR art design and visuals have always been decent at improving immersion, but the game play side of things just destroys immersion completely on so many levels its laughable..
The Alien doesn't tunnel to these 2nd floor spots... He teleports... Don't remember them being able to do that in the movies.. Why not make all the tunnels only at ground level similar to hatch? Who knows..
Out of all the things in the game, this is what breaks the immersion for you?? LMAO

ok

Yeah it can be kind of annoying but it is what it is. The only time I can kind of agree that it's okay is when I see that the killer was going for adept.

more to it, how gates will look like? will we escape into space?
Maybe the ship will already be landed and we just escape the trial by running out into a planet? I'm not sure tbh. It would be cool if there was a new escape animation like maybe survivors get into escape pods and leave into space or something.
-
For survivor: I hate when killers camp/tunnel but I know when I play killer I'll do it when it makes sense to do it (Ex: Camp hook during EGC).
For killer: I hate when survivors hide all match but I know it makes sense for them to do it since it's not like survivors are meant to run directly at me for me to injure lol

I'm not sure how these community cosmetics are chosen. Does BHVR choose or what? I feel like they should have the community vote on what cosmetics should win. Have a survey like the player satisfaction ones and have all the entries there for ppl to vote.
-
Omg this. It's always annoying when we get all the pop ups that cover the chat and we have to wait until everything stops otherwise we risk clicking on one of them and leaving the end game screen. Sometimes I just want to say GG or thanks to another player before they leave the match but I can't because of the pop ups.

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/365872/yay-eruption-is-back
Yeah, now I can have like 1 second more before the gen pop, thanks bhvr. The only strong thing about eruption was the incapacitated and I know was too much, it would be good if instead of incapacitated it only blocked the gen. 10% is useless if survs can instantly keep going with repairing.
Blocking the gen? Wouldn't that just be Dead Man's? I think the changes are good overall. I agree that the incapacitated effect was the strong point before but it was too much at times.

I think they said there's no survivor characters in the game at launch, and that the player is, well, the player.
Although, the bonus skin you get for purchasing the game has been confirmed to be for Jake Park. So maybe there's something to that
Fingers crossed they add survivors in a future update, specifically Felix lmao

I think the idea behind the addon is whenever you are in frenzy, gens auto regress only during frenzy and not outside of it to combo with the ability to see generator repair intensity
The way the addon is worded implies the regression only happens while in frenzy only, does seem a bit weird for it to stop regressing a gen when you end frenzy but maybe that's unintended it's hard to say
Ohhhhh! That makes sense! I thought it would affect gens at all times regardless if I was in frenzy or not. Thank you for the help! I was so confused haha

I love the Haddonfield rework. I feel like it's more balanced than the previous version. It also helps that it looks beautiful :D

Not really.
Quality over quantity i say.
Who even wears the crowns the moment the event is over. These mask are so awesome you'll probably see them all the time.
That my main didn't get a cosmetic is a small price to pay for how good they are.
And who knows, maybe next year
I actually love the crowns but I don't wear them often since I feel they make me easier to spot haha I feel the masks might not have the same issue.

While I would like a fully naked, detailed texture with a very high polygon count model of David, we do have children (as evidenced by all the whining on the forums). Besides, my imagination is highly active, so a Speedo would be good enough.
Omg not the detailed texture high polygon count XD hahahaha

I'm kinda hoping the year 7 event is a masquerade 2 so that eventually every previous original survivor gets one
Yup! I understand if they can't do it for licensed characters but I hope all original characters can get a mask eventually.

As a pyramid main you can understand my expectations to get a mask wasnt that high in first place lol ^^
Haha! I actually didn't think of that XD I wonder what a mask for PH would even look like? Would it be a small mask just tacked onto his pyramid or would the entire pyramid be made to look like a masquerade mask?? lol

@Tiufal said:
At least all of the basegame characters should have gotten a mask. Not even that was done, its quite disappointing. And i dont see the "its too much work" as an excuse. Just make less other outfits and do this event properly. but i guess we just have to wait for next years to get the rest. Sigh.
I'm hoping they'll alternate the characters that get cosmetics if this the route they're going to take. This year we get masks for these characters, next year they will do masks (or other cosmetics) for another set of characters.

Jonah is latino? I thought he was just vaguely American with no reference to his heritage except maybe his last name but he could be European Spanish with the name Vasquez (especially since it's a Basque originating name).
His nationality is hispanic american. I should've said hispanic instead of latino.

Yes and no, I get making around 50 well designed masks is a lot of work so if certain characters dont get one is not the end of the world and I understand it.
Im bummed the usual suspects are the ones getting masks except very few exceptions, Elodie and Yui have more cosmetics than Jeff and Adam while being released after, Mikaela is about to catch up with them too, its like they dont exist at all when it comes to content.
Also having a Clown and not giving him a masquerade mask is a bit of a crime...
I completely agree that Clown should've def gotten a mask. Maybe they didn't since he has that jester outfit already in the shop?

I got in a locker right in front of the killer

I haven't had too many issues with them. Especially if it's just one or two survivors who run Boon totems. It was more of an issue for me when they first dropped since literally all four survivors in every match would run them.

I'm curious to see how/if the ink from the teaser will come into play. I think it's a given that the crows will big a big part of the new killer but what of the ink aspect? It would be cool if maybe the killer can teleport but they materialize from a puddle of ink or something like that.
