Hey, I'm not the grief police, you can grieve whatever you want. It's just weird to share your opinion and then say you're not interested in other's opinions. If you're that miserable take a break. Playing something daily for 5 years is enough to make anyone miserable regardless of the game. Games are fun, and if you have burnout from a game then a break is definitely warranted.

It's not burnout, but thanks. Bye.

  • @The_Horde said:

"IDC about your opinion on the matter."

Uh... Thanks for sharing then? See you when you reinstall.

I am sad that a game I have played ALMOST daily for 5 years has become unbearably miserable for me. I am allowed to grieve for that.

  • @Emeal said:

You mean to say, a build that has worked for you and complimented your playstyle isn't going to work for you when you take it off?

    Yes, change your playstyle then.

I'm not talking about me -- I change my build every SINGLE day that I play. I am talking about the fact that when I play survivor its it NOTHING but Wesker, Knight, and Legion. When I play killer it is NOTHING but the same perks on survivors. I am bored because regardless of the role I play the games go the EXACT same. I'm not even seeing different map variations or anything right now. Everything is the same, and it is feeling stale.

  • @C3Tooth I said I wanted a 70% kill rate, which means the 2nd survivor DOES have a chance of surviving.

I suggest that range cause it keeps the 2k standard while also implying that killers have pressured everyone with the 3rd being on the verge of death or escape.

If players can abuse the hatch mechanics for an escape after doing nothing for the team, then there is a problem with the hatch not the survival rate.

HARD AGREE!! it implies that all the gens probably got done which is incentive for survivors but the killer was able to maintain pressure. It also gives the survivors incentive to try because more than one can survive.

  • Not a valid reason to not cleanse plaything. As long as you make sure at least 1 pentimento totem gets cleansed then you still have a chance. It's when you let them spam all 5 that you're in trouble.

2 days ago a sadako let me go due to doing pretty good fakes at loops

I even grabbed the tape to let her mori me but she gave me hatch lol

I did that on Midwich to finally force a killer to mori me on the garden symbol LOL! Glad I'm not alone in that. She has an awesome mori!

  • Boons sucked to begin with. It's literally just an open invite to get SMACKED with NoED. I have been caught with NoED more times since boon totems came out than ever before. Not to mention how toxic the booning players are when it comes to the totems, literally bodyblocking you into a spot if they're able to--or fake unhooking you until you die--or leaving you for dead--or sandbagging you all because you've cleansed one of their precious totems.

Boons should just be removed, thats my honest opinion. They were not a good decision to begin with.

Is that on a survivor? It must be on a killer right? Those things were so scarce for survivors

Survivor -- I hard main Nea and have put an unbelieveable amount of time and bp into her. Last October we calculated it to be in the ballpark of 500 million

Those sacrifical cakes would help 311 * 4 = 1244 other players with the awful grind in this game, just saying. :) Sharing is caring.

Wait until you find out how many regular items and offerings I have...

  • survivors bring perks to genrush so the killer brings perks to slow gens and make them regress on their own

so survivors bring perks to survive long in chases for their team to have time for gens so the killers bring perks to end chases quickly

so survivors bring gen rushing perks to make the gens go quickly before everyone is dead so the killer brings anti gen perks

You see how it's not the perks that are busted -- the perks themselves are not meta, it's the builds that need to be balanced. It's a cycle that goes forever, and we're chained to the rhythm

right now we're in a heal meta so the killers cant break chase or the survivor will heal before they can find and down them again. they have to bring anti gen perks - it's just one stop on the board.

  • Because I'm a hoarder and I'll keep my 311 sacrificial cakes thank you

  • Pallets are literally meant to extend the chase. So if there is a chance that a killer might hit you if you greed, then drop it. Extend the chase. They respect it, kick it, go around, or leave to find someone else. Either way it extends the chase, and wastes the killers time.

  • I don't run dead hard because it makes my game stutter and I end up going down anyways.

I don't run decisive strike because I've literally never been able to hit the skill check.

I don't run borrowed time because I prefer to leave room for aura reading perks like windows, kindred, and bond as I'm normally solo queue.

I don't bring flashlights because when I try to blind the killer I either call for batman, or zero in on their crotch (also I really like hoarding all my stuffs).

***HOWEVER if I got a long series of games where the killer face camps me at 5 gens for no other reason than they prefer that play style, or I get tunneled because juggling 3 survivors is easier than 4 -- then GUESS WHAT -- I will bring every single one of the meta perks, strong flashlights and toolboxes.***

Maybe this time I'll get that blind. Maybe this time I'll hit the skill check. Maybe I'll get lucky and my game will stutter past a pallet.

So, anyway that was a long way of saying that yeah...I agree with you

  • The game is designed for you to have a very specific FOV that's why they have a very specific resolution now.

  • IDK - I've never seen ds really do all that much. If a killer really wants to tunnel someone out of the game, one baby stun isn't going to stop them. All it really is, is a delay perk.

  • They rely on it too much is like saying survivors rely on dead hard too much -- remove exposed from the game and a lot of killers will have kill counts plummet to hell. Same with survivors if you removed DH.

  • It makes the game easier. Done. Justified. The killers goal is to sacrifice all survivors. Getting one out of the game immediately makes that easier. Same reason why survivors bring Prove Thyself, toolboxes, Built to Last, and BNP to pop as many gens before the first down. It makes their game easier.

I was also a killer main that only played killer. Switched to about 50/50 when SBMM came out. There's actually quite a few things I learned.

    1. Although not as easy as I originally thought, it didn't take me long to learn looping as a survivor.

    2. Kinda have to agree that playing killer your build and choice of killer, as well as map rng can make or break your chances of doing well. Where as with survivor I have a lot more options without really feeling hindered. Even when not using meta perks. But using the meta perks I can see why killers complain. Having to hit someone 3-4 times before getting to hook them once can seem a bit much.

    3. I don't get tunneled out or camped nearly as much as I thought I would. It still happens, but it's maybe 1 in 5 games, and it's usually because 3-4 gens are already done.

    4. The difference in power at different stages of the match. At the beginning survivors really have all the power and control the flow of the match. But vice versa, if one survivor is killed at 4-5 gens or disconnects, it can feel very difficult to play. So I understand why some killers choose to go that route.

    5. Windows of opportunity showed me how unbalanced and safe certain maps can be with how tiles spawn up. Being able to see 8-10 pallets and 4 windows in just a 32m area, that's a lot of safety to be used. Not to mention all the other stuff available on the rest of the map.

    6. I never felt hindered as a survivor going to a certain map. I've noticed there's maps that certain survivors dislike due to personal choice. But I've never spawned into a map and been like, okay this is going to be a tough map to do well on. With killers you have certain killer/map combinations where you can't even use your power. It's made worse if you're playing someone like huntress or deathslinger where you have slower movement and don't even get to use your power. That's not something survivors have to worry about.

    7. SWF does not mean good. I've played a lot of both solo and in a full squad. I've noticed that most of the time we don't even talk about the game unless it's to say we're in chase or if there's ruin or something. And most of the people I've played with still run kindred. Just because they're a team, doesn't make them good.

    8. I've noticed a lot of survivors, even those on my team, that have decent or okay micro gameplay, meaning they understand how to work on gens, running certain loops, stuff like that. But they have absolutely atrocious macro gameplay.

    9. Solo queue is bad, but not as bad as you think. Yes there's the DCs and people killing themselves on first hook, but it's not as common as bad as people say. But it does happen. But mostly it's the mindset and the expectation people have. They play with their friends, then go into solo queue expecting to be able to rely on other people or think that these random players are going to have the same skill set that they have, and they just don't. You have to change your mindset when going into solo queue. If your goal is escaping and pipping, it doesn't make sense to sacrifice yourself for that random person to escape. Can you save them and you both or all get out reliably? No? Then just leave. I see it happen a lot. Survivors will feed 3-4 kills over to a killer trying to keep them from getting a single kill lol it doesn't make sense.

    10. Survivors complain, a lot. I've noticed this even with playing with a bunch of different people. There's about 10-12 of use that all play together. And they will complain non stop about how a killer is being sweaty, or they brought in a super sweaty build, when in reality they didn't camp or tunnel, and their build was brown or yellow add-ons with huntress lullaby, unrelenting, and like brutal strength or something. In reality they just played better. Some of these people I just won't play with anymore because they get super toxic as soon as they start playing, to the point where they'll just report people constantly. And there's tons of people like this. I remember playing one match where the killer killed 3 people and the last one was on death hook, and we were at 3 gens left. Like they just straight up beat us. The last guy, hatch spawn right next to him, so he waited on top of hatch until the killer arrived so that he could teabag him over and over and over again. When I asked why, he was like, "Because I want him to feel like ######### and know that I beat him." I was like, but we didn't lol we got our butts whooped. You got a pity hatch that RNG spawned in front of you I've even asked other survivors why they teabag at the exit Gates instead of leaving. They're like, "Cause we want him to know we beat him." Keep in mind, these are the same types of people that get mad when a killer hits them on hook. It just goes to show how toxic people in this community can be, and how they'll go out of this way to make other people feel like crap, just to ruin their day and gameplay experience.

    11. I've also noticed that survivors don't understand the point of looping. Even I started getting into this mindset and had to stop myself lol it's contagious. They think they should be able to loop every killer for 5 gens and when they can't or if they go down quickly, they get tilted and start accusing them of being sweaty or of certain killers being broken. Even if it's something like nemesis or clown. Looping isn't meant to be a means for you to bully killers. It's meant to waste as much of the killer's time as possible. It's great if you can loop a killer for 5 gens, but if you're able to do that every game obviously there'd be a balance issues.

    12. They killed the ambiance/atmosphere for this game, that horror element. I feel this much more as a survivor than a killer. It doesn't feel like an asymmetrical horror game. It feels like an asymmetrical action party game. And the more they remove the dark gritty atmosphere, and give aura reading for almost everything, knowledge of the killer's whereabouts at all times, the more it completely kills this once loved aspect of the game.

TBH there's not really anything that I felt was just weak when playing survivor. I stopped taking DS as a perk because I'd rarely get to use it. Maybe like once in 20 games. The only thing that could maybe be worked on is the difference in communication when in solos. But at the same time, more information would probably just take even more away from the horror aspect of the game.

I agree with point #7, SWF does not mean good. I played with 3 people once. I have been playing for 4 years, two of them for about 6 months, and one of them for like 2 years. I thought it was going to be tough helping 6 month players learn more about the game--but the 2 year dude literally was doing a gen, living his best life, telling us an albeit hilarious story about his job while us other 3 get hooked (we made some mistakes when combating proxy camping, and I was doing an all totem build cuz we had 4 devour that day, so no bt). He doesn't let us get a word in edgewise, and when he pops his gen he goes "why is my gen the only one done?" Umm idk maybe because you have zero game awareness, and we're all at stage 2 right now.

I mean... But if you finish gens before the face camp is over, you could easily save against virtually anyone except for Leatherface. It does not take much effort. You do not even need borrowed unless both exit gates are across the map.

IDK why this is an issue. Sometimes, you have to be the sacrifice. It sucks, but IDK why it's not satisfying for other people *even if I'm the one to get face camped at 5 gens* to see the killer only get 1k and 4k bp after the game. It's like a giant middle finger. Why do people prefer a potential 4k to that?

  • If I see that you're being camped with Kindred, I'm just going to do gens--especially if it's at 5 or 4 gens. If I manage to get them done and get the door opened before you died, I leave. If a killer camps, I'm not saving you. If the killer is camping end game, and has NoED, the same goes. I will try to find it, but if I can't, I'm not saving you.

And, a lot of survivors will be super upset at that, but you can't both complain about camping, and also feed them hooks by running in to save. If you actually want to make a killer regret it, do gens. That way they either have to stop camping to save their gens, or only get possibly 1 kill.

*which is why you should not let yourself die on hook if you're being camped*

  • Wow the 1/4 burger is bigger than the 1/3 burger because 4 is a bigger number

Similar to the situation when the hook could only be approached from one side for unhooking?

Yeah if someone stands in front of the lever they can't be touched by anyone else. I tried walking around and doing it, but it's impossible -- fun fact if two survivors approach the lever at the same time they can body block eachother from touching it as well.

  • @Azshhh said:

some of ya'll really can't read lol

OP literally said in their post the Zarina & Laurie were standing in front of the exit gate levers, they couldn't end the game lol

Yeah some people read 2 words and they're like "OP TRASH GARBAGE DWEEB DEAD AFK WHAT?"

  • @BlackRabies said:

So 2 survivors refused to open a door while a bleeding out dweeb and a pig were afk on the top floor, the 4th survivor I'm guessing was you doing what? Why not just open the door yourself?

I'm not seeing anything in your post that the game was actually being held hostage and just potatoes waiting out a bleed out.

The Dwight was already dead, and if someone is standing in front of the gate lever YOU CAN'T OPEN IT. I cannot touch the lever to open the gate if they are standing in front of both of the door levers

  • I hate boons but not for the reasons that many people here do. It's a guaranteed way to get NoED to prock. In fact, every single game where the randoms bring booms we get NoED. Also the people who bring boons just run around booning different totems instead of actually doing the gens! I cannot tell you the amount of games that I have lost JUST BECAUSE SOMEONE BROUGHT BOONS

  • DS exists to make tunneling a risk/reward decision. Without DS tunneling would be all reward all the time. Borrowed Time exists to make camping a risk/reward. Without Borrowed Time, camping would be all reward all the time.

It's the same thing with Unbreakable. It makes slugging a risk/reward. You can go for the slug--its you game, so you play as you like--but with the risk that there is an unbreakable in the game.

There isn't really "counters" to them because they are counters to popular killer playstyles.

There are killer perks like this too--ex: NoED (made especially powerful since the addition of boom totems), Blood Warden, No Way Out. These perks make gen rushing, and opening exit gates a risk/reward.

  • Between rifts is a good time to [1] take a break, or [2] go back to old rifts that you missed challenges on and finish them. The latter is mostly for the more ocd players.

  • NOT KNOWING THE ADD ONS OF ITEMS

It used to be that once you were in game the item add-ons would not be shown next to the item. So if you had that ace perk, and found an item in game you would have to set it down to look at the add-ons it had.

That was the biggest one, but some of the others are: old, old, very old insta-gen brand new parts that would pop a gen as soon as you used it, the killer offerings where you could play a match as one of the licensed killers for free, freddy having to drag you into the dream world to even touch you.

Oh, oh and LEGIT, LEGIT face camping. It used to be that you could only unhook from one, very particular direction on the hook, so if killers stood in that spot you literally *could not* unhook them. Then they added multi-directional hooks

  • I do it to let the other surv know not to come pick me up -- usually when the killer has an insta down power with insideous, or is slugging for the 4k or something. Just to let them know to hide and try to find hatch when it spawns.

  • is this for real? I think it's a great idea. Solo Queueing is soooo hard especially--in my area--the night games. Morning games people are just up and ready to go, and actively participating, and they're great games. Night games are when Bills hide in the basement, slowly walking back and forth so they don't get crows, and only coming out to beeline for the door the 2nd it gets popped.

I understand that this game is extreeeeeemely unfair with 4man swfs, but I would need 10+ perk slots to get the benefits that 4man swfs get for free. It would be too much to make perks like kindered base game unless it was something that only applied to solo queue, and even then...eh iffy.

  • I played against a SWF last night that said they hope I die of cancer -- even though I only got 2 hooks, no kills, and and like 4 hits the whole game. Not that it excuses it, but I didn't even have BW, NoEd, or camp the people I did hook.

So I informed them that I was actually in remission, and they were too little too late. They quickly changed their tune.

  • @ThatOneDemoPlayer @GentlemanFridge @Thrax @Verconissp @TurboTOne @lagosta

Thank you for all the suggestions, I made a google doc, and I'm going to start tonight when I get out of work!

  • I agree, but every time I say "stop saving your camped friends" I get drug. You can either get 3 people out by doing gens and not giving a ######### about the hooked survivor, or you can let him 3-4k cuz you kept running in. The only way to get them to stop camping is to force them to stop.

If they care about BP then they won't get very many. If they care about ranks, then they won't gain MMR or a pip from playing with no altruism. They camp at 5 gens because they know someone is going to come save, and the more people they can stop from doing gens, while also guaranteeing someone is on the hook the higher chance they have to win.

  • You don't have to bring any perk all the time? Especially not BBQ & Chili. I've only used that perk like maybe a handful of times in three years.

  • I just went and looked at his add-on's, what kind of add-ons were you talking about, which ones?

  • @tenoresax and a beautiful holidays to you too!

  • Oh no!! @C3Tooth my friend lives in a state that hasn't seen any snow either, and they normally have a ton of it by now!! I hope some comes!

  • Oh the basement shopkeeper build. I forgot about those perks.

  • You can still compare apples and oranges.

Also (in my opinion) that makes my argument even more valid. The killer can tunnel 1 (sometimes even 2) people straight out of the game without having to use a perk slot to do it. As a killer you can do it without any perks or add ons, you just need to be dedicated.

In order to counter tunneling survivors need ds, and borrowed time at bare minimum. Sometimes you have all your perks be anti-tunneling as well as sometimes items, and sometimes (depending on how committed the killer is to tunnel) that still doesn't work. Perks and items like ds, unbreakable, borrowed, and flashlights.

I appreciate the points you're making, also you're not going out of your way to be rude even though we disagree, which is nice.

  • @ClumsyTrapper said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/285798/survivor-perk

Bad idea bc no one likes not being able to play the game and extending stuns means extending the time killers just don't get to play

This is a fair point, and I counter with the same argument against tunneling. Tunneling does the same thing for whatever survivor the killer does it to, and this perk would help counter tunneling, which is what most people would use it for.

  • @Shroompy said:

Ive been wanting a perk that extends stun time for a while, simple and effective while not being overwhelming, and its not like a killer cant play around it

That was my thinking, they also have plenty of perks to counter the stun duration like enduring for example.

  • @MckFinn said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2547027#Comment_2547027

That's fair. Personally I don't think there should be one, but I suppose it would depend on how strong it would be.

Yeah even if there isn't a cooldown (in my opinion) this perk wouldn't be that strong for everyone to just start running it every game. Plus you're only going to get use out of it if you can actually pull off stuns, which if the killer is respecting pallets, not tunneling, etc. isn't going to happen very much.

  • @MckFinn said:

I like the idea! This could help the person being chased to escape, or to allow teammates more time to do gens. Would you put a cool down on it? If so, how long?

I don't know whether or not there should be a cooldown. I think this would be best to figure out on practicing with the perk and seeing how it worked out.

  • @EntitledMyersMain said:

This would allow the survivor to escape a chase for free without even needing to use an exhaustion perk, so I don't think it's a good idea.

Even if killers respect pallets, that's probably going to be a disadvantage for them because they have to spend more time chasing, then back away when the pallet gets dropped (unless they are already out of stun range), then finally break it.

It essentially creates a lose-lose situation for the killer player.

I appreciate your input, however, I'm confused at what you're trying to say here, so I would love it if you elaborated more. I know my experience is anecdotal, but I can't speak on things that I don't experience. That being said, in my experience, most killers already respect pallets therefore average chase length in games I'm in wouldn't change. And, for your first point, I feel like the point of ds was always as an anti-tunneling perk (and this perk would work most often and best with ds), so them getting a "free escape" is the perk essentially doing what it's always meant to do. Also, a 4 second stun doesn't actually let the survivor entirely get away as scratch marks last for 10 seconds total by default, although they start losing brightness. If you have predator they last for even longer.

  • @Objectively_speaking said:

Believe it or not a LOT of people FALSELY report people which only weighs down how long it takes for legitimate concerns to actually be answered. They are doing their best but because of improperly done tickets, understaffed support, and more. They are taking action but I guarantee you as soon as they ban this guy there will be more posts of <why did they not ban this guy he cheats too>.

You will never be happy... and that is ok.

Saying "I will never be happy" is the strangest way of defending hacking. Of course I'm not going to be happy if they allow hackers into the game, nobody should. But, you're implying that I will never be happy because some people are just better than me and it feels like they're cheating which is wrong.

  • Maps are free content. When you buy the game you buy the killers/survivors/perks and their cosmetics. But, the maps are free content given to everybody.

I love this logic. So using cheating software is not cheating too because both survivors and killers can install it?

They aren't using cheating software. You can climb up on the rock too without any additional anything. Both killer and surv can do it just fine.
