  • The Dead Hard meta was horrible. . . For years. The healing meta was miserable if you didn’t run the best killers. SB and Lithe are fine.

I heard a good VOD about the state of DBD, and I think it summarized it. Survivors doing gens is BORING! Looping the killer is fun. Most of the things have encouraged survivors to hurry up and do the gens and spend less time interacting with the killer. Overall, everyone has less fun. I don’t have a fix. We do have more perk variability (on both sides) than we used to, which is nice. I think the base gameplay needs to change. (#########, they could add a hardcore mode or a random perk mode. . . Something without working too hard).

  • It’s a small map. Lots of obstacles, but a small map that has lots of areas open spaces.

Its a reason why it is one of the best maps for killer

  • If the maps weren’t so terrible, map offerings wouldn’t be a big deal.

  • I ALWAYS have short killer ques. Even if survivors have a bonus, it is faster to get into games as killer.

  • LP is one of my favorite perks, but it is so painful that it can be completely countered by distortion. Distortion’s buff was too powerful. I used to love aura builds, but it is frustrating to have literally 3 perks rendered useless by a single perk. . . That has basically limitless tokens on against almost every killer.

  • I think the short answer is, Yes, it is a problem.

It isn’t a big problem and doesn’t impact games much because most games are a snowball one way or another. There are so many other bigger problems with the game and the devs only have so much bandwidth. A half ass solution would be worse than a good one.

  • My MMR isn’t that high, and survivors seems to get value out of it in every game I play in.

Yeah face a nurse or blight and that is trying to tunnel you and I doubt you will have the same opinion

I play mostly 2nd tier killers (knight, most recently, Demo). When I did play Nurse. . . . I got just good enough to be mostly proficient.

I guess I don’t see survivors struggling much against me. Only when they get butthurt and DC on first hook.

3 seconds is 12 meters, which the killer can catch up in 7 seconds if everyone goes a straight line. Can’t you get to a tile in 7 seconds?

  • DS is fine like it currently is. It isn’t as powerful as it used to be. . . It doesn’t need to be.

Why can’t it be the actual body of your survivor like hatchets hit you even when they are hitting nothing

Blow his mind that wounded survivors lean forward, their hitbox still is the same as uninjured. . . .You can “hit” the body and not hit the hitbox, and hit the hitbox, but not hit the body.

And that the hitbox changes based on actions (ie bigger when healing or doing gens)

    Wesker is fine.

  • This game punishes you for being nice. Punishes you for not bringing the best addons, the best killers, the best perks. There is significant RNG in maps, which can strongly influence how punishing for either survivor or killer.

I have a couple thousand hours, but I’m not a great killer. I routinely go on stretches of 5 or 6 games where I get beat badly, and almost every time, I get BM’d.

My last match, I had two quick hooks on a guy, then had him slugged, and left him. Ended up getting a kill at 8 hooks and got a 2k 10 hook game. The guy ended up escaping. . . .he bitched at me for tunneling.

  • I’m sorry. I disagree. Distortion is an extremely powerful perk. I think they need to increase the charge time for the tokens. Not buff it. Aura reading perks are not as powerful as regression perks, but they can be really fun, and I think they promote a better gameplay for everyone.

  • My opinion. The update is a lot of info that helped average players a ton. It doesn’t help high level players. . . Because they basically know what is going on. The weak players don’t know what to make of the information.

I have noticed a significant increase in the average difficulty of my games. My load times for killer are much faster than survivor (even when the survivors are in the bonus). I’m not a “top MMR” player, but I have enough hours to be reasonably proficient.

I actually think the HUD update is likely a good direction for the game as it will help newer players get decent games, but it is a lot of information to survivors they haven’t had before. It is a buff, and there will be some killer buff. . Eventually.

  • @Firellius said:

Event is in play too, don't forget that. It'll draw some players back and there's a good chance most of them are survivors. I'm still seeing 100% survivor bonuses during the day though.

I still get more points as killer than most survivor games. I see killer bonus in the evenings, survivor bonus in the mornings, though often in the am it can flip flop back and forth. Way more killer points than before.

I think the HUD helps solo q a little and actually helps SWF a fair bit. I may be just me, but I have had my worse games, like losing most of them this past week up until this am. Even got a zero hook game. First one of those in a while (an obvious SWF with 3 P100’s), but it certainly hasn’t felt great. I’m kinda between mains at the moment, no one feels fun to play.

  • When I first played this game, half the survivor posts were bitching about Freddy. Now, his only real power is teleporting. Pallets are fun. . . But decent survivors don’t fall for that. Just amazing to see a killer get nerfed so hard to the ground. They just needed to tweak his oppressive add-ons.

  • Survivor have so much ######### base kit now. They now know exactly what everyone is doing, how much gen or healing progress.

Seriously guys. The only way to play this game is to play the best add-ons with the best killers. . . Or you get smoked and T-bagged.

  • Distortion has always been a great perk. It used to be limited by the tokens, which with BBQ and undying being the meta, they got burned pretty quickly. Now, there is basically unlimited tokens and it is a very powerful perk that can completely counter a killer stack of aura reading perks.

  • Dissolution should not give you a prompt that it is active. It would be a decent perk if that was the case.

  • You know it took 5 years to change dead yard, despite it being the most broken, most used survivor perk. . . Oh wait it still is.

  • Or a spend 100k BP and get random stuff? Thanks

  • legion? Really?

I’m enjoying legion more these days just so I have to deal less with DH.

  • The perk is fine. The main benefit is getting people off the ground a LOT faster. The conditional endurance is a nice extra.

The only problem with that, sbmmr already fails when it is prioritizing queue time over quality thanks to the devs, because not all ranges of MMR are populated equally.

This idea would split the playerbase even further, leading to increased queue times, leading to even more borked matchmaking in the two different modes.

The playerbase of DBD is simply too small for separated queues.

But old ranked matchmaking wasn't any better and all the people screaming old ranks are looking through rose tinted glasses.

The really good players had more easy matches in the old system. I am not a top player by any stretch, and I think that it largely is fine. The biggest problem is that there are times when there aren’t enough players in each pocket of skill to quickly get good matches. I also wish I could see my score to get an idea of how good I am.

Going to have to echo that Adrenaline is a strong perk. It's endgame-only, but an instaheal and speed boost right when the other side absolutely needs a down to have any chance of securing kills? That's good.

Adrenaline has so many positives to it. It lets you finish the last gen without wasting time to heal. Helps you play like to run and tank a hit or escape a death at the end.

  • Boil Over: I just hate losing a hook because you brought a perk and map RNG.

  • @LibidinousPsyche said:

Ahh yah that's not a bad idea.. I just raged used all my points just now lol. I have nil now. Starting over now. Why do they make it where you can't bank them. They know it takes awhile to unlock char with shards?

    They want. Your $$$.

In honestly, if you wait till things are on sale, you can get the characters pretty cheap. I’m also a adult with a professional career, and $8 here and there do not bother me. I’m not going to spend money on outfits though.

  • @sluc16 said:

You can blind a killer while fully healed, make no noise at all, they still know where you are exactly, they even turn their bodied in your direction while blinded, is so dumb that just having a good headset makes a game mechanic completely useless.

Are you the guy who complained to me yesterday?

Flashlights are fine where they are. The noise survivors make are fine. I guess no one goes against spirit much anymore.

Yes, flashlights are not the most powerful weapon in the game. Lot of people run them because they are fun, because they like to bully the killer. If I see a lobby full of flashlights, either A: They are going to lose because of being hyper altruistic, B: they are going to stomp me because they are just that much better than me, and I will hate my life.

Flashlight blinds at a pallet are fine. They might do cause you to to make as much distance as otherwise, or they could make you more (lots of tiles have junk which you can get caught on or the killer might just lose you).

  • Honestly, I feel the biggest shifts to how hard games are as to WHEN I play. Friday, Saturday, Sunday, I’m getting stomped. Other days of the week, I stop them.

I wonder if the MMR system is based on absolute MMR, or relative MMR to the players playing right now.

  • I’ve seen a few DS’s (getting hit by more than a couple the last couple of days . . . Usually by people who ran at me). I think Jake is an endangered species because Vitorio just so cool.

  • @yobuddd said:

When I play killer, I absolutely refuse to participate in the eruption/slowdown meta. Therefore I like to use a full detection build to have less downtime between chases. By this I mean BBQ (because it’s still the boss!), Darkness Revealed (because survivors have already completely forgotten to be wary of lockers), Spies from the Shadows (not aura reading, but surprisingly strong detection), and then, depending on mood, I’ll swap around between Bitter Murmur, Nowhere to Hide, and Awakened Awareness.

In my head, I feel like I’m actually being a nice killer by giving survivors a break from eruption. Maybe this is overkill, but none of this actually downs survivors or ends chases faster. It just directs my patrol so I can START chases faster. Anyway, that’s my 2 cents.

I really enjoy aura reading when I play nurse (I’m not good at her. . But it is fun. ). I have run into a SWF that had 3 distortions, and it felt so painful to basically have no perks the whole game. The distortion buff was makes it so they never run out of tokens. They should drop the # of tokens to 2 and change tier to effect the time it takes to get tokens.

  • Keep your MMR low (by being bad) and I never seem to meet any hackers.

I really wish I knew my MMR.

  • I never understand this game. When I play killer, the survivors can usually seem to make one more loop, drop the pallet just right. . .

When I play survivor, I never hit a window without taking a hit, get hit dropping a pallet, and can never seem to get more than one loop.

  • I tunnel because every time I don’t, 3 or 4 survivors t-bag at the gates.

  • I think the core problem is game design. The killers main goal is to kill survivors before the gens all pop. The Survivors goal is to pop the gens before they die.

The best perks all make the gens go faster or slower. Be nice if there was a way for survivors to win (like do all the bones, which causes another objective to activate to power the gates. . . . I don’t know. Something.

I can't remember the last time I went up against a friendly killer or one that wasn't thirsty.

Survivors could not be a total dick to killers that clearly are on the struggle bus, who have meme addons or perks.

Eh. We'll have to agree to disagree here. I found them crippling on Myers and Trickster against savvy teams. Let's just say...I played a lot of Doctor during the event.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3293625#Comment_3293625

It's very close to fair now. If you don't know where the killer is, and there's a snowman hugging the hook, assume it's them and treat it like any other camper, just without their power.

I found canibal to be fun during that event. People forget that he can catch survivors through their sprint if he does it right.

  • I only use NOED when i have an exposed challenge.

It really just isn’t that powerful anymore. Usually gets one down and or hook unless RNG puts the totem next to a downed surivor. Then i just is one kill because the other survivors just leave.

I am not sure how I feel about that "steamed eggnog"...I've arrived in Montreal and with the translation to French, eggnog is now chicken milk, and I do not know how I feel about that at all!

Eggnog is not chicken milk. :). Eggnog has milk, cream, egg yolk, usually cinnamon, nutmeg

  • Coffee should taste like. . . Coffee.

I usually I mix between Latte vs. Pour over in the morning. I use an aero press at work. I’m probably going to get a Hario switch for Christmas and maybe a fancy hand grinder (I’m wanting a Kinu m47 . . I’d love a classic, but can’t. Justify the cost, probably a pheonix.)

While I don’t like things in my coffee, steamed Eggnog is REALLYgood in coffee. Doesn’t froth up like regular milk though.

  • This event isn’t giving survivors and advantage. . . Like last year.

It is fine. I’m looking forward to the dredge cosmetics.

It never ceases to amaze how often I'm having a good time with MMR while everyone on the forum is asking if it's off and vice versa.

My games are complete toss-ups at the moment I have to say, as if players were assigned at random. One match I'm getting decimated by a kill squad with barely 4 hooks before they are all out, then I 12 hook the entire team with 3 gens left. It's like there are two MMR brackets: potato mixed with average players and gods.

SoloQ has been completely unplayable for months, I don't see any difference for better or worse.

I tend to have runs of game. Games that are good and lots of fun,, and then I run into 4 or 5 games where I get my butt handed to me.

  • Eruption needs the incapacitation time tweaked. If it was 10s of time, it would be fine. Explosion and blocking the gen would be stronger, but would effect SWF equally (which means it won’t happen).

lol I have receipts. I got you. I record every game I play. Here you go. Enjoy :) You just keep proving my point about nurse mains

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDdZm6QPmBk

I’m not trying to be too critical, but you could have played that better. Your movement was very predictable. And if your other players had been on gens, it would have been a 1 gen left by the time you died.

  • @Xord said:

You guys don't realize how meh killer aura reading effects are.

The only very powerful killer aura reading effetcs are those which happen during loops.

Knowing where the killer is while working on a gen is useful but not gamebreaking info, in the end, you'll just be able to know if the killer is close or not.

I find aura reading to help me get started and get into chases faster. The occasional Situation Awareness has been really powerful when I can see them in a locker right next to a hook, but that is pretty rare.

  • @fake said:

Please supply the killers with expensive sunglasses, not cheap ones like Wesker's.

Oops, where are the demo and pyramid head eyes

In the neck, just like every other killer! :)

  • Really add a delay on the hemorrhage loss, (like 3 seconds) would make it all right.

  • There is no mechanic that revives destroyed pallets. I have not seen this hack. Is is possible that you got moved to another part of the map with fresh pallets? Good survivors can rotate well.

  • @SOULWARRIOR71K said:

Hooks breaking after a survivor is sacrificed on it. This outdated mechanic unnecessarily creates deadzones, which thereby forces slugging. If basekit unbreakable ever makes it to the live servers, this will be a nightmare.

So many maps can have weird, painful hook RNG. Easy to lose a hook because the basement or hook on a hill 2nd story screws you over.

  • The game isn’t nearly as killer sided as survivor main still gripe about. Numbers would be a lot better if so many survivors didn’t dc on first hook. The survivor meta has some variety, which is nice.

I’m about 50 hours into nurse and am starting to win some matches, but still flop a lot.

  • I only run FD on hag because it is so entertaining to trap downed items.

Since i stopped running hag. . . I don’t remember the last time I ran FD. Maybe I should just for giggles.
