And by doing so they will waste more time and reported for properly with video evidence?
When youre just playing the game, what video evidence? You telling me I have to start using obs to capture my screen while I play or do the devs have a built in way to check the game?

Allowing to leave without any penalty. I am noticing a HEAVY amount of survivors who give up and purposefully try to unhook themselves on their first hook just to get out of the game without a penalty. "
And if they get unhooked, they run at the killer again, its legit just ruining the game.
IMO if a survivor dies within the first 3-4 mins of the game, let a forfeit submission between the remaining allowed.
I generally queue with 1 other person, and we legit have to gen-rush to escape and its 100% lame and not fun. I want to run away from the killers, but it seems like everything got nerfed for survivor and I legit can hit them through a window with 0 effort, its almost like vaulting through a window isnt worth but juking is.

Knowing I can log in at any time any year and playing killer is easy... Yet survivors are constantly nerfed due to dev favoritism :)

Give killers incentive to not tunnel. Then you can punish them for tunneling. Right now killers have no reason not to tunnel other than be a good sports and switch target, especially if they get their first down very early at the game.
The largest issue I see if we look at points based is a killer does not have to do as much as a survivor to get the same amount of points. Even on a new killer and learning their kit.
I hooked 3 times, 0 kills, and still got more points in a game tonight than the survivors did.
Did they gen rush? Yes.. but I chased long enough, damaged them enough times, and broke enough pallets and gens to gain points/single pip.
Ranking up as a killer is also unbelievably easier than survivor. I think there is such a heavy bias with killer heavy hand in this game since the Demo at PAX: East when I first saw and played this game. Everyone told said devs at the con about how it seemed there was not enough to help a survivor.... survive. And its actually hilarious to see the state of the game hasnt changed no matter how many times I come back.

Just had a myers hit me while I was behind him, Game's hit registry, lag (rollback?) and overall hitboxes are some of the worst ive seen. And I play a ton of FGs

Stop talking nonsense.
Nobody had space for Prove Thyself because they were running DS, BT, DH & COH.
And all I saw pre-patch was Nurses calling, B&C, Thanatophobia and NOED. So?

I've never had that issue.
I cant tell if its lag, but the time it takes me to unbind, evade the new chain, then start the puzzle and a chain spawns and hits me. So again, not sure if lag or game mechanic is bugged
-
@Pulsar said:
Once you start solving the box, no chains should spawn.
I mean
that is the mechanic but it doesnt work. Last 2 games, chains spawn faster than you can dodge and avoid them to then start the box. The time between is too short to actively start the box sadly.

Yeah that's the reason why the matchmaking tries to compensate the number difference between survivors and killers: it also isn't fun for killers.
Survivors figured out how easy it is to escape by just sticking to gens and since killers don't have any real tools to slowdown the match, they end up slugging, tunneling and camping.
It's as fun for them as it is for you.
This doesnt benefit anyone though. Rushing anything in this game seems to not reward anything considering the parameters that the devs set for survivors to "survive" contain running around and away from a killer rather than stay hidden. So the incentive to gain more points is to actually play with the killer, rather than stay stealth? If that makes sense.
Again I am still fairly new, but the ranking/MM and points make no sense to me.

So all console players are boosted swf gotcha.
Nice logic.
Funny how I'm rank 1 last gen solo q player then even with all the freezing. Must be a paradox. Being a pc player doesn't automatically make you better you know. Get of that pedestal.
Edit: My last game. Look how your logic makes sense.

Look at the globes. One purple others red. Not really far apart but there is a lot of instances when I get matches like these and it doesn't mean it's swf.
Just stop rationalising your biases toward console players with magical thinking. Not all of us are bad teammates just like not all pc players are good teammates.
My initial post wasnt to claim all console players are bad. But, a large majority of them play the exact same way. I am not sure if its due to everyone queuing solo and there are no communications happening. Or it is the time of day I play. Or what the case may be. But I do notice a small correlation.

There’s way more survivors in queue then there are killers available during certain hours of the day.
The matchmaking (MM) begins prioritizing survivors by how long they have been in a queue rather then what rank you are. This is meant to get you in a game as soon as possible (quantity in time) rather than a an overall balanced experience (quality of match).
I dont understand that honestly. The game is just so not enjoyable to play like that, not to mention tonight has had some of the worst slugging ive seen as of late. Legit downing and leaving survivors constantly. I am sitting here de-pipping and de-ranking every single game.
-
Like, I would understand if everyone was of equal level and skill.
But this is getting ridiculous. It seems like playing killer is not only favorable, but seems like you cant lose unless you dont hook a single person.

@ThiccBudhha said:
It is why they are adding mmr. Whenever they get around to it. Soon... Soon in game developer language, anyways.
As in never, since it should have been implemented the second they though "ranking systems are a good idea"

Defined tunneling. I see three dead survivors in this pic.
I was 3 hooked before anyone else took a hit. Then rinse and repeat. The killer in this game actually just ran in circles around the building with the basement hooks. Waited for an unhook then just ran at the stairs to down me again.
I get it’s in the game but holy hell it’s not fun having this sort of thing happen. Give a better average of ranking or somethinG so I have a chance.
-
The other thing I didn’t mention were a good bit of body blocking and taking hits to try and help me from other survivors. Flashlights and flash bangs.
nope
killer just keeps running towards me.

What you described here is you not being good enough. You aren't pipping because you lack the skill to outplay your opponent. That's all.
I take it you didn’t even bother to see the picture I showed where I’m in a lobby with all single digit players, and a red killer.

The others players are your friends you queued up with right?
The matchmaking system is supposed to match a group according to the players with the highest rank, so rank 5 in this case, so that is probably the reason why you were matched with the rank 4 Killer.
If you play solo, this shouldn't happen, but as others have mentioned, the matchmaking system isn't reliable.
One was, the others were random. But I keep seeing people say that the system “down ranks” based on lowest. Which obviously no one seems to know.

@Luckyz17 Try killer for a little while. You will see that the survivors are just as inclined to be jerks, but there are four of them in the game.
This is a casual game, so you will enjoy it more if YOU don't go into it thinking that you will live every match (or ANY match) or that you will sacrifice four survivors (or ANY survivors). Just do your part as best you can and most importantly, have fun!
Also, don't be a jerk, there are too many of those in the game already. Don't do things like but dance after dropping a pallet or at the exit gate, and don't hit survivors on the hook or tease survivors with the hatch. These things are toxic.
Some camping tips. If the killer is a dedicated camper some perks that will help you mess them up are Borrowed Time, Kindred, and Decisive Strike. The best strategy to deal with camping is to just finish the gens and leave the game. It sucks for the one or two players but you should be able to escape if you don't reward them with an attempted save.
As killer the best way to camp is Insidious with Cannibal in the basement. Find a willing survivor to start, hook them in the basement. Hide around the corner and wait for the others to show up. Kindred defeats Insidious, but Borrowed Time doesn't protect against the two hit chainsaw. Decisive strike will give the bait a chance to get away unless you wait it out. Survivors playing together should counteract this type of camping, but they ALWAYS think they are better at the game than they actually are, so their comms can have mixed results.
Another tip I doubt anyone mentioned but you asked. Not all killers are faster than survivors. Some of them run at pretty much the same speed as you. Against the slower killers you can run around a single large object and unless they have a power to reach you, like nurse teleporting or shape powering up, they aren't going to catch you without playing mind games (like doubling back). Nemesis and Shape are really bad at this but like I just said, you could end up giving them more power by not trying to escape.
Wow, I literally didn't expect this many replies.
So i did try killer, and every game felt super easy. Like I had way too much of an advantage with only a level 5. But this was as wraith. As Nemisis, I actually really hated all of his mechanics when I was stuck in an open field. Now that I understand a few perks more, Barbecue & Chilli, is kind of BS along with Lethal Pursuer. I can just choose who to run to the second I hook someone else. I am not really one for perks that reveal the location of others as this game is essentially cat and mouse.
I was actually in coms with 3 other survivors who have all been playing this game for quite some time with single digit ranks (?? idk terms fully yet). Some of these killers really are just all about hooking people asap, which I guess... sure. But I guess its just not fun for anyone else. Also... screw indoor maps.

it really feels like you need to learn to have fun while not winning.
i'm sorry to say it, but it's true. dbd is a lot more fun when you can recognise a good game while losing it.
I have played league since beta, i am used to losing and dont mind it. I am aware I am new but also the game feels fundamentally flawed with a heavy swing in a killers favor in these lower ranked lobbies. Between constant slugging or camping / annoying killers to the D/C players who legit quit once hooked. The game just itself, isnt fun. To try and tell someone "learn to think the game is fun when its constant losses" is pretty garbage lol.

Timer once went from 45 to 60 seconds, if a killer camped they had no way to win unless they were good or above.
The change to 60 seconds was the worst thing they did since it took away pressure since they had 15 extra seconds to do gens, I believe it was before ruin was even a thing.
That person said abused but it wasn't really abused it only took away pressure.
Since you are new I assume your teammates are usually hiding and not punishing the killer for camping, when you rank up you will find players who are really good, that will punish killers for doing stuff like that.
Anyways, abusing stuff is something both sides were doing, I remember the exhaustion bug (after the exhaustion change) while I wasn't a player I was a viewer back then but survivors abused bugs pretty often examples were well perk bugs, there was a bug that allowed you to do everything 15% faster if you had wake up for example, killers abused the recently hill bug and no stun bug.
another thing I really dont understand is I guess slugging. What is the point in making the game completely un-playable for whoever by constantly going around and downing everyone then circling around camping those who are down?

Yes, because it's hard to add line to the code "if another survivor close to the hook proceed sacrifice in normal speed". Amazing solution, pay me 1000$ a week bhvr.
And now killer camp more, because as everyone knows, most survivors immediately start approaching the hook as soon as someone is hooked, and you've just given the killer an indication of when someone's coming for the rescue.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2287645#Comment_2287645
You know the reason why you want it to be a thing? Yeah, that's what the devs considered "abusing".
By your own admission, you are new at the game. If other, more experienced survivors can easily escape without any of this, the reason why you can't is probably because you're new. Read some guides, watch some gameplay, learn the game better. This suggestion won't work. Never has, never will. Neither will shaming killers for trying to win while you're literally doing the same thing.
my suggestion is to simply fix the camping issue. as a new player, I can tell when someone is camping, and camping honestly is fun to no one but the killer.
-
@Hex_Ignored said:
Yes the killer is moving faster and your anti camp suggestion has been tried and in a twist that shocked absolutely noone ended up being abused by survivors.
how did they abuse it exactly? I see no such real way unless poorly coded an anti-camping method can be abused by people who can literally do no damage
-
@awustzdn said:
This gets suggested every few days and every few days people like you need to be reminded that BHVR tried it in the past, survivors abused it to the point that it had to be removed.
I did mention that I figured it would be, but there are ways to implement it. The killer has the option of, you know... killing and slugging if they just so choose so I dont understand why the survivors should not have an option of playing just as toxic since all of these killers like to play this way.
