The platform you're playing on keeps track of the entire time the application is running. BHVR's stats only show time spent in trials, so that doesn't include time spent waiting for a lobby, spending BP, browsing the store, selecting challenges, reading lore, etc..
It also doesn't count time spent in special game modes, like 2v8, as of right now.
I understand that, but I don't think as a Killer main that in the six years I've been playing, I've only put 37 hours into my main, in contrast to 330 as my main survivor.
-
Same issue, completed the challenges before the rewards were added (Seriously, how do you goof that up?)

The design is good, too bad the perk itself is completely useless and not at all worth a slot…
I also agree with that, but I feel it's because there are too much perks that just flat do better things. Power creep.

The catch up mechanic was terribly thought out, badly implimented and massively weighted towards survivors, so no. Probably their worse idea yet.
Just do gens and extend your chases like you're supposed too. You shouldnt be rewarded for playing badly
-Broadly gestures to every second chance perk Survivors get while Killers get one perk-
Killer players need to have something that doesn't make even the slightest mistake kick them in the nuts. -
@Vishlumbra said:
Personally, no disrespect, I think those kind of things belong to the arcade, cero depth mode, the game should be balanced enough to avoid having to add a rushed catch up mechanic.
Frankly, the game isn't that balanced if the same dozen perks are seen in matches because using other ones is just that detrimental to not be using them.
-
Literally nobody likes it. It's awful, clunky, makes customization less straightforward, and looks like predatory mobile crap designed to advertise and promote you using the store. GET RID OF IT, NOBODY WANTED IT AND NOBODY'S BUYING YOUR FAKE EXCUSES.
-
The Hatch used to spawn based on the number of currently alive survivors + 1, in terms of generators finished.
They changed that for a reason; it was leading to matches where people just would skip the rest of the match and get a free win, and that ######### was awful. -
Literally one of the worst changes to the game. It's hideous, it's clunky, it's extremely predatory, and reeks of desperation
-
These numbers are absurd. It's also not PERCENTAGE. It's CHARGES. 24 charges on a generator (90 charges) is 26.66% of a generator. So you're suggesting a Survivor should be able to shave off 68.89% of a generator by themselves, which is insanity.
-
Agreed 100%, it looks awful and nobody likes it
-
Agreed, the new UI is terrible. It's obviously trying to resemble the store and yet is worse, and literally nobody asked for it.
-
These are great ideas, make for much more interesting gameplay.
-
There does not need to be five variants of this map, especially when all but one are agony for a majority of killers
-
Nerf the god window spawns, all that's needed. Absurdly strong even with walls broken.

No. Winter event still has cosmetics that are limited to that event. They did make cozy break collection permanent again though it seems like they are bringing some collections back maybe because of the feedback that people would want to wear the outfits year round.
Also deep rift outfits were recently confirmed to be exclusive to the rift. This is worse than the time limited shop ones because they come back every year, rift ones you can never get again after the rift is over.
I think when it comes to the shop i genuinely believe that they make them time limited to declutter the shop a bit (no one wants santa clown in februrary) but i am expecting them to lean into fomo a bit more considering they are doing it with the rift now.
Event-limited cosmetics are less of a problem because you earn those with play (I would love an alternative/second chance to earn them, though!). I'm specifically talking about cosmetics in the store that you can only purchase with money and have a strict time window to pressure you into using real world cash. The Deep Rift cosmetics are just funky reskins of stuff you can get in the normal rift; the normal variants do come to the store eventually.
As for "Not wanting Santa Clown in February"; If someone has the outfit, they can wear it at literally any time, rendering that point moot. If I can wear it at any time, what's the point in making BUYING it an exclusive thing other than pressure?

Think about it
They said they are stepping up their cosmetic department to make more cosmetics (compounded by people complaining about some survs being neglected cosmetic wise) and so they decide to make the process easier - they make adding descriptions take less effort and manpower
It lines up I think
Yes, but increasing the amount of cosmetics shouldn't require the descriptions seem like they were written by a fifth grade child.

She kind of liked the descriptor.

An update: The only way to regain my frames is literally turning the game's quality down to the absolute lowest settings. This is some hot BS.
-
I also had this problem! I suddenly have massive frame drops now, please address this BHVR!
-
The logic in this is faulty; you can prove that Made For This is extremely strong with math too.
Maximum chase start distance is 12m. Assuming a chase starts at that distance, we can establish the following.
A 4.6m/s (115%) killer would reach the survivor in 20 seconds.
A 4.4m/s (110%) killer would reach the survivor in 30 seconds.
With Made For This, these values increase to 25 seconds and 43 seconds.
Even five extra seconds in a chase can make a huge difference. And this isn't even factoring in potential perks you can pair with it, such as Dark Theory (+2%, ups it to 30s and 60 ######### seconds) and Hope (60s and literally impossible to gain distance until Bloodlust kicks in).

"whenever I see killer in my 4man bully squad and he is not able to do anything, he just goes to corner and afk's which ruins my fun. I demand you punish said killer for it".
That's about how I read your thread. You are forcing other people to play out the game for your enjoyment, demanding punishments if they don't oblige.
Nobody should be forced to play the game for your benefit no matter what side we are talking about
Forcing people to play for my enjoyment is not the same as not wanting them to actively ruin everyone's because they're not personally having fun.

FOMO is arbitrary limited-time availability to pressure people into buying something you have no reason to limit access to, not a discount sale on things that are always available. How do you figure the two are comparable?
-
@martinj97 said:
I love it! I'd prefer more exclusive and limited-time cosmetics. Why do you think you need to buy all cosmetics? Why do you care if other people get enjoyment from buying a limited -time cosmetic? As @Steakdabait posted, if you don't like it, don't buy it.
@SixShotOcelot said:
I just want to point out, nothing states its exclusive for this one-time event. It could always come to the store later or there could be future opportunities to receive/get this cosmetic.
I believe the devs have previously stated, that legacy prestige cosmetics on original characters are the only cosmetics that will not become available again. All other cosmetics (event, rift, prime gaming, etc.) have the opportunity to be added to the store in the future.
That said, there is no guarantee WHEN it will be available again. But this is almost certainly not the only opportunity for receiving this.
As mentioned, if you don't like it, don't support it.
The fact that they outright lied about not putting more of this sort of thing in the game, combined with your "defense" of "I enjoy and want to willingly be exploited", suggests that you may have to evaluate your priorities
-
@Mastapalidin said:
You stated the reason why they do this, they have a monopoly on this genre of game. They've tested the waters with this and it's been successful so what's going to stop them? Unless nobody buys these "limited time" cosmetics it'll never stop now.
Unfortunately this is true, they have no reason not to because they have no competition, so they're free to ######### us at their leisure
-
People not buying it doesn't automatically make it not predatory . It's scummy whether it sells or not, the only difference is that if it doesn't sell, it's scummy and unsuccessful
-
It's a predatory practice purely for greed where it isn't necessary; the game still makes money hand over fist through its various DLCs (Currently at $167.96 just buying all chapter DLCs, including bundles). If anything, they overcharge for cosmetics, a great majority costing more than the DLC. That they're now trying to pressure people into these purchases is disgusting
-
The people who say "who cares about FOMO" tend to be the people who only whine when things affect them personally. "It's not my problem until it is". It's astonishingly selfish
-
Getting rid of permanently-missable cosmetics only to replace them with potentially-missable ones that you only miss if you don't fork up the dough for it. Predatory and scummy. SMH
-
FOMO is a predatory tactic used by companies to create artificial scarcity; there is no excuse for it other than pure greed.

As you're aware the Finisher Mori was only in the testing phase in the recent PTB for the purpose of getting feedback on it. Once designers are happy with whatever adjustments will be made to it, there's likely to be another PTB to test further. We have not said it's been scrapped no.
Thank you for the prompt and direct response; a direct line of communication makes these kinds of things so much easier.

Announcing that you are going to make cosmetics available for non-cash purchase after one month and then making cosmetics only available for a month IS A SCAM TACTIC. Retroactively removing existing items for the sake of doing this is even more so. BHVR, you are above this sort of thing, do not emulate companies like Ubisoft or Epic Games.
-
Announcing that you will make items available for purchase with means other than real-life cash after one month, then putting out cosmetics that are only available for a month IS A SCAM. THIS IS A SCAM TACTIC. BHVR, please do not consider this Epic Games-level of predatory purchases.
-
"Please stop justifiably complaining about anti-consumer predatory business practices, just have more money to spend."
-
Forcing more and more FOMO features is a garbage business practice that promotes exclusivity only to those who can afford it.
This is only made more obvious by limiting the purchase options to Auric Cells only, which when you take into account their "Everything will be available with Iridescent Shards" announcement, makes it blatantly obvious they're trying to pressure players into purchases. This is not okay.
It sets a bad precedent for what people are willing to tolerate, and promotes trying to further monetize a game that still has over $100 of DLC to purchase if you get the Ultimate Edition.

Wouldnt that in essence make all sales against the law, why would you wanna pay full price if there is a discount.
If the issue is just in reference to linked cosmetics, are there linked cosmetics that arent licensed? Pretty sure the licenses are done in a way that if they werent linked there just wouldnt be extra cosmetics on thise chatacters at all.
You don't understand.
The issue is if there is a discount advertised when there is no other way to obtain said item
If I buy something that is advertised at 10% off, but there is no way for me to buy the item/items at a non-discounted price or separately (as is the case with multiple cosmetic sets), then it is not a discount. Get it?

Maybe it’s because I really don’t care at all about cosmetics (I fully realize that a lot of players do care a lot about this), but I don’t understand the player anger about this. Either you’re going to buy a cosmetic or you’re not. Who cares if it’s time limited? How long does it take you to decide it you’re going to buy it? If you like it, buy it while it’s available. If you don’t feel like it’s worth the money, don’t buy it. It’s really not a stressful decision.
maybe this is simply an issue of people being upset about the fact that BHVR are not explicitly stating that they are trying to use FOMO as a way to get people to buy stuff. This seems like an even more ridiculous thing to be upset about. Every company that sells products to consumers uses all sorts of different marketing tactics to try to make more money, and FOMO is a very commonly used one. I’ve never heard mass outrage about other companies not revealing/discussing their marketing strategies or their motives for why they do things a certain way. Of course they are doing this to try to make more money. Why do they have to come out and say it?
If it really upsets you that BHVR won’t come out and make a declaration “WE ARE OFFERING THESE SKINS FOR A LIMITED TIME BECAUSE WE ARE TRYING TO MAKE MORE MONEY”, then just don’t buy them. There’s really a very simple solution here.
"Just don't buy them" is a piss-poor attitude, as it puts the blame on the consumer. It's much like any of the other crap people say in this game. Getting genrushed? Getting tunnelled? Just play better. It's not the players' fault or responsibility to compensate for predatory business practices, especially when BHVR is already potentially breaking the law with their fake-discount crap for linked cosmetic sets (It's illegal to portray an item as having a "discount" when there is no other way to obtain it without said discount, making it artificial).

We are going the opposite direction right now. Soon there will be only SWF and literal masochists that play survivor.
When I play killer, it's at most 2 lost game in a row. I know that 3rd one will be 3-4k. If I play survivor and loose 5 games in a row, then that means nothing.
Also killers cry about all the unfair stuff nonstop to the point that devs think 60% kill rate is actually fair AND the guy that I respond to has the audacity to say survivors are the players that make the inpact on devs decisions? We have still bubba hook camping for literal years now, but we got rid of all the things I mentioned above (most recent change coming up are locker save immunity - something that influenced 1% of players like 1x in a month. On the other hand I have facecamping bubba every week).
It sounds less like you want a fair game and more like you're whining about things being removed that were used to bully killers; if chain locker saves were such a minimal problem, why are you complaining about it being lost?
I will absolutely and unhesitantly agree camping Bubba's a problem though. That ######### is just boring to play, as or against.
-
If people genuinely believe that having an FOV slider will boost kill rates 10-20%, they're severely overestimating what the ability to just see more will do.
Being able to see more doesn't make your hatchets into homing missiles or your chainsaw into a laser cannon. Killer players have a right to be able to play more comfortably. It may affect kill rates positively. But it would be nowhere near significant enough of an increase as it would be a positive change to allow players to play more comfortably/without having to rely on perks to alleviate physical discomfort.

If you read it to the end, you would see they changed it from client to server validation - meaning it's not buff or nerf. It's neutral change moved to server for the sole reason to be more visually fair to both sides.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3269086#Comment_3269086
Oh so survivors removed 2/3 of pallets from all maps, made a lot of loops harder to use (like shack now has only 1 window), removed perma sabotages of hooks or trapper traps, increased gen times from 60s to 90s, nerfed BNP, nerfed instaheals, shortened on hit cd, shorter sprint after hit, shorter pallet breaking, nerfed hatch, ....
All this because it's survivors who non-stop cry on this forum and it's never killers. Wake up already. Survivors were nerfed so many times, that Q waiting times swapped even if incentives are 99% of time on survivor's side - because killer's managed to somehow illogically convince devs 60% kill rate is in some dimension fair play
If gen times were 60s, faster survivor vault speeds/slower killer vault speeds, perma sabos were still a thing, the absurdly strong loops like two-window shack, instaheals, and 100%-completion BNPs were still in the game, it'd be deader than Elvis. If you think that's just "killlers crying", you're delusional enough to be a US senator.

they said this YEARS ago
There are many things throughout the years that theyve said they wont do, and then had a change of heart
Just because they changed their mind on it doesn't mean it isn't a predatory business tactic.
-
Agreed, BHVR needs to clarify this. Suddenly introducing time-limited items when they explicitly stated they would no longer do such things in an official announcement is more than a bit shady
-
Agreed. One should not be spending 10+ minutes spending bloodpoints ever. It would benefit massively from a QOL change.
-
In addition to this, running both with Flip-Flop will allow survivors to gain wiggle progression faster than the amount of time the killer loses; it would take only 3.8s for the survivor to gain 4 seconds of wiggle progress.
-
@Xord said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/346236/bhvr-gen-speeds-are-going-too-fast
If it requires 4 perks dedicated to this strategy, staying injured, AND having a toolbox with 2 very strong add-ons, and on top of that requiring to hit multiple great skillchecks, which even high MMR can't do regularly, and especially not with a higher skill check speed.
Then... you can't really say hyperfocus is OP.
Hyperfocus is the same as MoM after the recent patch, people complained about it, then everyone realized it's not a realistic strategy.
You only need one perk, Hyperfocus. Adding others just makes it more ridiculous; Combining it with Stake Out allows you to get up to 5.6% progression per skillcheck, with a up to 34% chance per second to get a skillcheck. If you think that's somehow balanced with one person, let alone four, you need your head examined
-
@Adjatha said:
Right hand doesn't know what the left is doing.
Like how they removed a bunch of pallets from the old maps to make them more fair, then re-did the maps with higher graphics while also RE-ADDING the exact same pallets they'd just removed.
Not to mention trying to sneak in double pallet spawns again.
-
Agreed. 2.5% is a pathetic amount of regression tbh; a survivor can get 80% of that lost progress back in the same time it takes a Killer to kick the generator (1.8s kick time = 2% of a generator). 5% would be more than reasonable; it'd take 4.5s to get back that progress lost, thus actually giving an incentive to kick generators and punishing people who haphazardly gen tap.
-
They had to change it somehow; as it was, coordination could render a Survivor indefinitely unkillable on a hook. That's not good for either side, as Killers wouldn't be able to get kills even if they weren't camping, and Survivors could use it to bully other Survivors.
Additionally, due to how the cooldown worked, even just one Survivor using it could extend a hook state 150s per state. Being able to extend Survivor times on hooks up to five minutes from one person? That's ludicrous, you have to admit.
