This actually heavily depends on what server you are playing. If you ever have a chance, go to Korean server and play some games. You’ll understand why even the most popular twitch streamer in Korea would rank killers heavily based on their ability to camp. On Korean server, camping and tunneling is just the meta. Almost every single killer camps and tunnels at high ranks. I didn’t know about this until I started to play on this server since few weeks ago.

Why do you all keep mentioning add-ons?! I literally said in a comment that this is just my favorite build,I don't use iri often!!!!
Tho she is S tier in my book, but very map dependent. I still dominate in lerys, which I love playing as huntress because survivors will keep vaulting windows leaving them vulnerable it is excellent. I play well in all maps now that I think about it since with huntress you have plenty of room to adapt.
Look, if you judge a killer’s power based on the most known broken add-on and offering combos in this game, no one would care. I main huntress and I have 700 hrs on her. I’m both rank 1 survivor and rank 1 killer. Let me tell you about huntress boy.
A killer’s tier should be based on no add-one, no mori, any map. Any killer with a ebony mori is a fking S+ tier, that thing has no counter. About map, you mentioned Lery’s. Guess what, that map is killer sided. Yes you can’t use much of her power on that map, but that map is small so you patrol gens faster. The worst map for huntress is the coldwind farm “Fractured Cowshed”. In this map, these’s not a single jungle gym you can throw your hatchet over and there are so many pallets and the map is so big. So if you face 4 actually good survivors on this map, you will get annihilated.
Overall, she is an A tier killer. The best Nurse and the best Billy are S+ tiers. And your build is stupid. Bitter murmur is perk rewards you when you play badly which is when you lose gens. You can run whispers to find the first survivor fast. You can run nurses to get some overhead shots. You can run discordance to prioritize. Bitter murmur is just a B tier perk.
Then Hex: lullaby. This ######### works nothing with Ruin. Good survivors find your totems very fast. 40 seconds into the game. Boom, you just lost two perks. Now you are playing with 2 perks only. Don’t even argue with me. It is commonly agreed that lullaby is a trash perk and Ruin is about to be reworked anyway. Lullaby does nothing before mid to late game. And guess what, hex perk doesnt last into late game against experienced survivors.
So learn more about this game boy.

No, she is not S tier, but definitly very powerful. Still, Billy, Nurse and Spirit are even better.
Her main problem is mobility, so even the Huntress is very skilled, she skill can get genrushed by a decent team.
Well, this guy is using iri head belt and mori. There’s no reason she’s S++++++ like that. That’s the same as “hey we are 4 man rank 1 sweaty swf with 3 commodious toolboxes with brand new part and 1 red key, and we brought coldwind farm map offering. Try not to get gen rushed by us.” I feel this post is a troll lol.

Because Bubba is geniune trash and you can just out run his saw.
That is not true. And you know what, I think it is this kind of mindset, your mindset of Bubba is trash, screws up many many survivors. I usually do really well with Bubba because people tend to think Bubba ez baby killer then ######### up and get 4ked.

Everyone says he can be looped quite easily and yet everytime I go against a Hillbilly he ends up having almost every hit on a survivor done with his chainsaw.
Your average survivor will go down to an average Hillbilly. You need the survivors to be vastly better than the Billy.
If average Billy can get average survivors, then why the fk people think Bubba is so bad. Bubba is just a better Billy at close range isn’t it? Btw, Curving Billy is not average. In fact, I think many survivors just fk up against Bubba too. Is Bubba too strong?

I think Hag is 100% the most balanced killer. She takes quite a bit of know how and can have a huge effect on the game while not remaining overbearing on pro-survivors and not being too underbearing for noobie-survivors.
Hag is balanced but imo not fun to play or play against 9 out of 10 times. Hag just camps so well. If a Hag never ever puts down a trap under the hook, she’s fun to play and to play against. The reality is, however, she just camps sooo well and boring to play against.

Brown are 10%.
I don't think gen times should be increased as that would be boring. I think the best way to approach this is adding another mandatory objective to repair gens. When you spawn in you have to find a toolbelt for example. There could be 4 special chests, they'd need to look completely different than the regular chests. Each one containing a toolbelt. The extra time at the beginning would help killers get going.
As for toolboxes, that's a tricky one. Unless new uses or special traits were added they'd be hard to nerf without making them useless.
Bro, brown toolboxes say moderately. It’s the same as the Commodious. They just have less charges. Moderately is 15% increase. Got to the official wiki and check it out.
-
I’m surprised no one mentions Billy. Bamboozle is a good perk on Myers, Billy, Demo. Only these three killers can capitalize on this perk imo. Apparently Tier3 Myers with bamboozle is terrifying. You can quick vault the window and lunge it after the vault, very strong. For Billy, you can block the windows and get a bigger chance of chainsawing. For Demogorgon, Bamboozle and I’m all ears can catch the best survivors off long wall jungle gyms. You do a window fake and this guarantees a hit with demo’s lunge.
-
@kurgan8282 said:
yes and it's crazy how good it works, an amazing perk actually.
Tbh, it only works against noob and mediocre survivors. Very rarely bamboozle can catch good survivors. If you hate all god windows, then yeah it’s good. Usually windows are places where you want the survivors to make a play and try to get a hit. If you deny the windows, it’s just gonna be a pallet drop or running towards the next loop.

Hopefully this will make the game more even and bring kill rates closer to the 50s rather than 70.
Based on the devs, the kill rates is only based on the killer’s rank. So if a killer is red rank and 4 survivors are separately yellow and green and purple and red ranks, it still counts as a red rank game. And if they use a mori and gets a 4K, that’s a 4K. If the survivors kill themselves on the hook, that’s probably a 4K for the rest of the team. Too many variables. If you look back to some survivors escape rate stats. The escape rate at rank 1 is 80%. Therefore, even the devs said you shouldn’t draw any conclusions based on those kill rate stats.

Toolboxes are so op dude. Before the Freddy add-on nerf, the best two Freddy’s slow down add-on stack up to 15% slow. While even a brown toolbox can repair 15% faster. People were so mad at Freddy’s add-on and they nerfed it to the ground but the toolboxes are still op.

@Peanits said:
She has the potential to be very good when played well, although I'd still put a good Nurse above her for sure. There's a lot of tiles where you can't get LOS or mindgame for a hit, so your only option is to brute force it and become a bloodlust gamer. The Nurse doesn't care about any of that, she can blink right through it.
Yeah exactly Peanits I know you are also a huntress main.
I play Huntress a lot and I was a former semi-pro Overwatch gamer. I dropped Overwatch and came here. Huntress is the first killer I mastered. She is very powerful but also very map dependent. Because of her 110% movement speed, she can be abused at some very simple tiles like these debris loops in the coldwind farm. She also suffers from low map pressure. So many times I run pop on Huntress, got a three gen, hooked a guy, ran towards the gen, the last two guys just pop it in front of my face. If I can be any faster, it’s a 4K for me. But because of the 110% speed to traverse the map, it becomes a 3 escape.
Therefore when it comes to “how to win as huntress”, I would always say that “ you have to slug to 4K”. Huntress excels at slugging and you have to maximize this potential. If you don’t slug, you either proxy camp or tunnel or get a small outdoor map like coal tower.

Could have fooled me to be honest. Then please tell me how can 1 person be in 4 places at once?
Although I think the Ruin nerf call is a bad decision making, it is rude and irrational just to blame devs this way. Several days ago I checked Peanits’ s stream and he was playing a rank 2 huntress game in which he got 2 kills. In the end game chat survivors were asking why you camped and tunneled. Peanits’s response was “oh I saw you guys brought in a key and I assume we are gonna play sweaty”. So based on this fact, I think devs do know about the state of the game. The decision making, however, is a bit off the right track.

Any chance you were playing The Pig on PS4? 😂
We had 4 gens done, and 1 player was sacrificed. I found the hatch and after healing a Survivor, I motioned for them to follow. I showed them they hatch, and they ran off. Low and behold they went to the other Survivor, and next thing I know they're both escaping thru the hatch and I followed as fast a I could. Totally forgot that one of them started the round with a key.
Nah I play on PC. But yeah your experience is very similar to many of the key games. Since one very unpleasant key game I had as a killer, I usually dodge the lobby if I see a key.
As a survivor, I don’t like bringing keys into the game. I like using plunder’s to loot a key. That way it is luck based and fun.

Thing is, you're calling what you say facts based on absolutely no evidence. Then, you make the assumption that I think something that I never said (ala - putting words in my mouth). There in lies where the argument ends, and you lose. Calling your opinion "fact" and manufacturing things I never said. OOF.
You're the one making the base claim. Therefore it is up to you to provide the evidence. It's not up to other people to prove you wrong. So run along now. You have work to do.
Ok ok, let me lose the battle but win the war. Let us be rational and step away from the majority question.
My opinion about the key is that devs can make the key “take few seconds of channeling to open the hatch”. That way it preserves the fun of having a sneaky escape route once you complete some objectives and the fun of looting out of a key from the chests. And for mori, make it that, you can mori people on dying state only if all 4 survivors have been hooked. That way it preserves the fun of watching the mori animation and having it as a powerful item.
I have never argued to delete mori and key from the game. They are fun but needs some balancing to make it more fair and less toxic. That is also why a balancing team exist. Your saying of no nerf or stuffs are ever needed in a casual game because it’s your problem of not enjoying them is denying the devs effort of the past three years of balancing the game. Survivors were way powerful at the release of the game. During that time, average online player was around 7k on pc. Three years later, survivors have been nerfed a lot and killers have been stronger. Now the average player is 20k. Balancing is never a wrong thing to ask for if it is called into the right way.

People like you are going to get DBD "Culling'd". Overbalanced into boring snoozefest games. Get better, play better, take it less seriously. Stop trying to nerf everything that annoys you.
The approach of ignoring all the facts presented and holding onto a point that cannot be proved sounds very “scientific”. And based on your words, I concluded that your opinion is that “camping and tunneling” is fun for the majority of the community. Then provide me some evidences to convince me with your opinions.

I don't have issues with it. It's just a game. I move on to the next game. If I was smacked right off the hook, either the killer was camping, or I was farmed. Both of which are the fault of the survivor who unhooked me. Not the killer.
As well - don't presume to speak for the majority. You're not their mouth piece. This forum is far from the majority. In fact, the majority of the community isn't even on this forum. Cause they don't care about it as much as you do.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/996153#Comment_996153
It's just a game. Nerf your sweaty competitive attitude, stop caring about wins and losses, and just have fun. It's not up to the killer (or if you're a killer, the survivors) to facilitate your fun.
Several days ago I peeked Peanits stream. He was playing a rank 2 huntress game. I saw him got 2 kills. In the end chat, the survivors asked him, why you camped and tunneled? He responded that “oh I saw you guys brought a key and I assumed we are gonna play sweaty.”
I think the majority of the community have agreed that camping and tunneling is not fun. Don’t even argue this fact with me. And if a key is causing “the representative of the devs team voice to the community” to choose an unfun play style, there’s no reason this item should not be looked at.

That argument is invalid.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/996094#Comment_996094
You have only yourself to blame for not having fun. Same with killers who complain the same way. You take the game too seriously. Learn not to care about your rank which matter so much less now with the way matchmaking works. It goes a long way to making the game fun.
Don't nerf that which makes the game fun. Nerf your competitive attitude, or go find a competitive game to play.
Tell me how is it fun if you are smacked right off the hook and Moried under the hook. If you consider that being fun then well you are pathetic.
I don’t care about ranks despite I’m rank 1 on both sides. Personally I don’t bring a key nor a mori into the game because I care about the fun of the other side. I want people to enjoy the game.
If the majority of the community consider those experiences to be unfun, then it is devs’ job to satisfy the majority of their customers not minority like you.
-
@The_Second_Coming said:
They don't need to go, nor do they need to be reworked. That goes for both keys and mori's. What needs to go is people taking the game too seriously. It's just a game. Stop trying to suck the fun out of it. It's a CASUAL game.
Casual games are supposed to be FUN to play. If one side can easily make the other side’s game miserably unfun through one single item, it is the devs’ job to balance it out. The moment I saw survivors bring a key into the game, I would say “oh f**k”. The moment I saw a killer using a secret offering, I would take my hands off the keyboard and say “f**k it”. Because I know these games aren’t gonna be FUN.

Keys only work if enough gens are done... If you have a bunch of people escaping by hatch that means you were already losing badly. And they are very rare or ultra rare.
I had many games where I played super fair and everyone was on death hook. Then I kill one guy and there’s one gen left. All three escape through the hatch with it help of a key. So if I’m losing badly this way, I should just tunnel or slug all of them so they just die on their first or second hooks right?
-
Rank 1 on both killer and survivor. Age 21
I can 4K for tons of games without Ruin with killers like Bubba (not the PWYF build) Clown will struggle a bit more though.
The problem of the game now is not how Ruin is nerfed. It’s about Devs’ survivor sided opinions. It’s just pathetic. I mean come on if you are gonna say that “oh we also care about killers in forum responses”, why don’t you mention just a sentence in your official patch note. In addition, they are not reworking maps and toolboxes before they nerf Ruin. I would totally agree with the nerf if they do those things first. But now? It’s pathetic man.

And I also feel its honestly a disappointment how the BHVR are heading in a direction to make their games to favor such ignorant toxic low skilled players like that. I don’t really mind of any action to be taken for that player as there will be flawless amount of people like that unless they change the culture of dbd updates to finding the RIGHT problem and balance the game for two different roles. The post there was to show how the developers share the same thought with ignorant players who cannot think more wisely when approaching to very critical changes for certain role in the game.
That’s basically how every single online competitive game look like. Just admit that is how human look like.

One of the most important aspects of any video games is FUN.
If the game is boring or ######### enough, people will quit.
Most of the time, people complain about changes of the game because they like the game. They want to keep playing this game but they found the changes unpleasant and frustrating.
If the lack of Ruin killer games are gonna end up in tons of boring quick 4 escapes, yes killer mains will leave.
For instance, I was a former Overwatch semi-pro player who spent thousands of hours in the game. The reason I left Overwatch is because of the double shield meta and the whole games become boring as fk.
Now they haven’t left because they still like the game, they wanna play the game and wait to find out if the game is actually gonna be boring after these changes. They are complaining because yes it is very likely. But still they don’t wanna just leave and so complaining is their trying to stop the changes.

I bet you gonna have a good time learning Nurse on the new Yamaoka Map lmao.
-
So first of all, BHVR is not equal the DBD team. So I assume the question is to rate the DBD team instead of the entire company.
As a former Overwatch semi-pro player, I would rate the DBD team 8/10.
Look at what they have created and improved! The game had around average 7k player online 3 years ago and now it’s average 20k! They did a good job! Many things have been improved! New features and contents have been constantly introduced into the game! Compared to garbage Overwatch? Freaking Amazing! They also listen to the community and give feedbacks, although yes they still need to work on this aspect. Since the Stranger Things chapter, many new players have be attracted into this game and it is very reasonable for the team to try to remove things that felt annoying for new players. However, I think they need to consider that the true player base is those most experienced old players. The new players would eventually become them as well. If you make a change that feels good for new bloods but drives old customers away, that is not good and the game will die.
So over all they did an amazing job so far but still have much room for improvement!

There's also Pop Goes The Weasel, Thanataphobia, Dying Light, and others to help you out. The new Ruin also helps slow things down by regressing generators, although you'll need to put in some effort to keep them off the generators. Whenever you hook a survivor, people have to make the choice between leaving the generator and having it regress or committing to the generator and risk getting pushed off (BBQ, for example)/the hooked survivor losing a hook state. I'd strongly suggest giving it a try, it's actually very good.
Let’s be honest, other game slowdown perks like thana dyinglight are super weak compared to toolboxes. They have high requirements for low values. While even a brown toolbox grants a 15% repair speed buff.
The new Ruin is good for high mobility killers and that is true. How about clown?
And overall it is a hex perk. I play both sides. I’m a rank 1 survivor and a rank 1 killer at the same time. Except for the reworked badham, all other maps follow easy totem spawn rules and they can be easily found.
And about the gamble to make for survivors you talked about, the decision making of whether to spend time looking for Ruin or not. It’s not a decision making when the totem just spawn right next to gens or in the center of the map.
I do agree that new Ruin can be useful. But that’s only when it is not a hex perk. And pls stop telling me Ruin surveillance combo is too strong if it’s not hex. I can track people by my map knowledge and it is not the problem of I don’t know where people are. The problem is even if I know, I can’t stop them across the map or they just have too many defenses around them. The new Kindred is a base survivor perk and it is a hard counter to new Ruin even if it is not a hex perk. And I have to waster two perk slot for just tracking.

Children mad that someone took their favorite toy away. People really need to just relax and adapt to these changes. It's just a game after all...
Ruin was a perk for me to have fun and be nice. I usually go for a 12 hook fair play at rank 1. And I always end up in a situation that if Ruin was gone early, I would proxy camp, force second hook/force death, slug to gain advantage.
First scenario: I have one guy on the hook, one guy downed on the ground near the hook. If the gens weren’t going too fast, I would pick up the guy on the ground and let them save the first guy. However, without Ruin, I would probably proxy camp both of them until the first guy reaches struggle or I might lose all my pressure.
Second scenario: A guy in struggling on the hook and there are 3 gens left. If I had Ruin I would probably got more hooks and maybe 1 of them is on death hook and the other two have been hooked once. Then I won’t proxy camp the hook to force a death. But if I didn’t have Ruin, I would probably camp this guy struggling on the hook to death given the fact that I have hooked all other 3 guys only once or I would probably lose the game.
So overall I think Ruin is a perk that allows fun to go on for both sides rather than an OP determinant of the game.

some of those maps you listed are pretty balanced, not survivor sided. some of them are survivor favored, yes. also you forgot to mention The Game that is killer sided.
Old ruin was only very effective on lower ranks imo. and for the rest, luckily i play legion so i can find everyone and get them off gens, forcing them to heal or do gens with thanatophobia. god, legion is so underrated. anyway if you can find and chase down a survivor early, you have a good start because they'll have to get off gens to unhook and heal.
i think the new ruin is a good idea, but, it most likely won't last long and that's why it needs to be adjusted.. maybe something like the totem gets lit when 2 gens are done? we'll see what happens to it, maybe they release it and buff it later when they see it's not working

Well if you think legion is good and underrated then you are probably low rank or have been playing against a bad survivors. I do agree legion is not too bad though, don’t get me wrong. I can 4K with legion but if I play survivor with 3 other good survivors, the killer probably won’t have a chance to 4K on a balanced map.
So I intentionally did not list the game into killer sided map because it is actually a pretty good map for survivors if you spend enough time to learn the map layouts and pallet spawns. The game has a good amount of safe pallets and if you manage to play well around it, it is usually a 3 escape so it is not that much of a killer sided map.
The old Ruin is not only effective in low ranks and apparently this opinion from you somehow suggests that you are a low rank player. But still let me explain this. If all 4 survivors can hit very single skill checks, the amount of 0 bonus from great skill check still buys the killer more time than any other slow down perks in the game. But we all know that is not gonna happen. One missed skill check is 7 seconds of no progression. While something like thanatophobia at 4 stacks is 16% of slow down which is around 8 seconds of slow of one entire generator. So please stop using your survivor favored opinions to argue stuffs and learn more about the game and the numbers given.

i know some maps are bad for killers, but some maps are also bad for survivors. and it's not like killers needed to rely on ruin, they just wanted to so it would be easier. though old ruin isn't even good on red ranks.
and i doubt that gen can be done in that time if killer has discordance up right away, it doesn't take THAT long to walk to the gen. but yeah, i agree some maps like red forest should be reworked
Yes I know there are bad survivor maps, I’m a rank 1 survivor and a rank 1 killer. Shelter woods, Lery’s (better now but still killer sides), Hawkins, chapel. These are the only several imbalanced killer sided maps. Some say coal tower is killer sided but I have tons of reasons to argue that it is very balanced. However, how many bad killer maps do we have? 2 red forest, 5 Coldwind Farm, 1 haddonfield, 1 out of 2 blackwater swamp, 1 or 2 of badham that contains house of pain, 3 out of 5 of Autoheaven, 1 Ormond, 1 out of 2 of Asylum, 2 out of 5 of Macmillan, 1 out of 2 of Yamaoka. Tell me that you can argue against “maps are bad for killer” with the point of “there are also bad maps for survivors blablabla”
Old Ruin helps tremendously when people stack on gens and if they can’t hit great skill checks. Tell me what should I do as a killer if they have 2 toolboxes, and two gens are highlighted with discordance. I chase any one guy means I would lose 1 gen in 35 seconds. If I’m good, I can down one in 30 seconds with 15 seconds for each hit. But by the time I pick up the downed guy, hook him, the gen is done. Am I bad as a killer? Why am I still heavily punished by playing well?

red forest maps are horrible.. i hate them as survivor and as killer. but anyway, as Myers you could use perks like discordance or whispers, they will give a helping hand. if you get a large map that's just bad luck. but it normally doesn't take much time to find the first survivor/survivors
Look there are plenty of bad maps for killers in the game currently. Let’s say you are Myers in Rotten Field. Three survivors spawned in the opposite side of the map. Without ruin, even if you have discordance up right in the beginning of the game, by the time you walked to the gen, it is done. If they have multiple toolboxes, boom, 2 gens gone. Maps have to be reworked if toolboxes and gen speed are not looked at with the new ruin.
