    6. 3 genning, tunneling, camping and slugging. These are all very utilized strategies by killers. They take a lot of fun out of the game.

How exactly you expect killers to win?

Going for 12 hook every game is not realistic for most killers.

End game (gens finished) is currently in favor of survivors with current meta, so you definitely don't want to get there as a killer...

I'm not going to blame killers for the state the game is in. Thats on the developers. Of course killers will use whatever tools they have at their disposal to win games.

A lot of the issues that you mentioned come as a result of the gen-rush/anti-gen meta that we are now. Tunneling, camping and slugging are a “way to counter” gen-rush, playing killers like Knight in a 3 gen way instead of a double chase way (like how it was intented to) its other result of the gen-rush. And obviously, the survivors are enforced to do just gens, and gens. I dont know why the Circle of Healing patch came with anti-gen perks nerfs enforcing killers to play like that. I think that if the meta is changed a lot of the issues will dissapear

You nailed it on the head 👏

As for the new map, I think it runs terrible, I have massive frame drops, but from a gameplay perspective it is the best map we had in years, that's not really hard considering how terrible those last maps were, but then again it also offers some eastereggs, which is really nice.

I think it is weird to say all survivors can do is do gens, all those things you named are boring things anyway? What about the chase dude?

Oh the chase is amazing. Getting hit from two blocks away. A billion unsafe pallets and dead zones. These are some fun chases let me tell you.

    All 3 maps?

Fusebox on Gasstation if its spawns outside, Familyhouse if you dont have a cook. In both cases you can open the basement before he killers are in the main area. On slaugherhouse you have the watervalve in the basement whats basicly undefendable.

The problem is that people are allways crying. Even in the 1.0.0 DBD, when Victim could be unkillable with a healing build for 2minutes, since they could heal themself faster as the hitcooldown of the killer was, they cryed for "nerf killers". DbD had no exhaustion so you could pair multiple speedperks like Spirtburst and balance landing. Since there was no exhaustion you could activate em multiple times in a chase. With the perk "self healing" you could heal yourself faster, as you can heal other persons now. Infinite loops existed, instablinds, instaheals and so on.... And what did people say? "Nerf killer" and that its balanced how it is.

The thing is that you cry about "survivor nerfs" but survivor started in a godlike state in DbD. The problem is that there are alot of different skill level in dbd. Just because something is balanced for you doesnt mean it cannot be unbalanced in a higher or lower skilllevl as yours.

A good example is the nightmare. When he was published, he could not attack anyone whos awake, he dindt had snars or anything. His power was that after 7sec you fall asleep and thats it. You could still wake yourself up with failing skillchecks. So if you pick "self healing" you could heal yourself, fail the first skillcheck and wake up (what means he cannot damage you anymore). So he was absolutly garbage, and the patch after it he got NERFED.

Why? Because on the low skill level area, people did not bother to read the ability and never woke themself up. There is no "fix" since there are so mutch different skill levels.

Check out the DBD tournaments and how mutch addons and perks they banned because they are too strong or promote a gamestyle thats not considered good. For example list of banned perks survivors:

Ace in the Hole, Aftercare, Alert, Any Means Necessary, Appraisal, Autodidact, Background Player, Better than New, Blood Pact, Boil Over, Bond, Boon: Circle of Healing, Boon: Dark Theory, Boon: Exponential, Boon: Shadow Step, Borrowed Time, Breakdown, Breakout, Buckle Up, Built to Last.....

and all that is banned to balance the game for high lvl survivors and killers. What you are asking is fixing dbd for high- mid- and inexpericend survivors. And yes thats just not doable.

You make some good points but I still think this game has gone to ######### and there's nothing I can think of that could save it. The OG players are nearly gone. New players will get tired REAL quick.

You have to be kidding. I see bunny Feng more than every other Feng cosmetic put together.

Wrong bunny Feng, I'm talking the one with a red vest and tall pointed ears.

  • I'm going to use the bunny Feng cosmetic as an example; such a beautiful cosmetic, but ruined by the mud and blood. Could have been top tier! and you never see it used

  • It's not subjective, community cosmetics are far more popular. Look at the data mr developer

  • Oh so now my comments need approval ? Not surprised lol

You must be a dev lol. I'm not buying a cosmetic that looks like the survivor was killed 3 days ago.

Then don't, i'm telling you what to buy, i'm simply stating that details such as blood, mud and dirt has been part of the game's aesthetic since day one and that dirty cosmetics are more aesthetically fitting than your clean eye candy cosmetics.

The community has shown that they can create much better cosmetics than the devs can.

    Subjective.

So keep running around in your bloody rags.

I will, because it actually looks fitting in comparison.

Not subjective. I guarantee a vote would prove that community created cosmetics would win. Over your dirty looking ones.

  • @Smoe said:

Um at the beginning of a match there's no reason to have blood and mud on you. Perhaps after being injured or something?

Yes, but seeing as we don't have a dynamic blood and mud system to dirty cosmetics up as the trial progresses, this is the best alternative.

I'd ask devs to look at the stats from sales on each cosmetic. I can guarantee its lower on the stained ones. People want cute cosmetics.

People will buy eye candy regardless if it is dirtied up or not, but regardless of that, clean cosmetics looks out of place for a life and death situation where you run and vault through buildings, ruins or just through elements such as water, snow, mud and dirt to escape the killer, If we had a way to dirty cosmetics up through the trials then i'd be more inclined to have clean clothing, but since we don't have that, it's best to keep them out and actually have cosmetics that looks like you've used it to escape from a life threatening situation.

Blood, Mud and Dirt are part of this game's aesthetic since day one also.

I say it again, we're running for our lives, not walking down some catwalk during a fashion show or some photoshoot.

You must be a dev lol. I'm not buying a cosmetic that looks like the survivor was killed 3 days ago. The community has shown that they can create much better cosmetics than the devs can. So keep running around in your bloody rags.

  • So far I'm only being called out on cosmetics and TCSM comments lol. Which are the last on my list tbh.

  • @Smoe said:

Most of them have blood splatter, rips and tears, look like they've been dragged through the mud.

As they should have to them, in fact all cosmetics should have that to them to actually look the part.

After all, Survivors are running for their lives, not participating in some fashion show.

Um at the beginning of a match there's no reason to have blood and mud on you. Perhaps after being injured or something? I'd ask devs to look at the stats from sales on each cosmetic. I can guarantee its lower on the stained ones. People want cute cosmetics.

  • @Hanuka5 said:

    8. TCSM is just a better game. Very balanced. And I'm very excited to see what they do with it. I hope it doesn't get the DBD treatment with nerfs and buffs every single patch until the game is just an unbalanced mess.

Did we play a different game? Not even the Devs of TCSM are pretending to say that its balanced.

    6. 3 genning,

I dont understand, what exacly do you think should happen here? What change do you wish to happen?

Oh okay, tell me how it's unbalanced?

And after 7 years I think it's clear that those issues have no fix. This is dbd.

  • Oh okay, so unless it's devour or blood fury, survivors are potatoes and bad at the game for cleansing hex totems. Gotcha.

  • The only thing I'd nerf is the vision blur. His power aside from that is fine.

  • This is unfortunately where all the nerfs to survivors have led us. Survivors literally have nothing to do now except generators. Healing, booning totems, etc. Are a waste of time now. If survivors do not complete gens quickly, they do not escape.

Once made for this is nerfed, survivors will probably just hide and do gens. They won't even want to be chased anymore. So expect the gen speeds to go up again.

Edit: killers will always have an excuse to play any way they want. There was a good reason to tunnel last meta, there will be another good reason this meta. And next meta as well. A brand new good reason to tunnel. That's not ever changing. So let's stop blaming survivors for it.

Not a killer main and I'm sorry you think that but it is true.

"Hexes can be downright horrific if not cleansed early and can lead to snowballing of all sorts."

The vast majority of all hexes are a joke, not horrifying. Outside of like DH and maybe BF most could stay up for minutes and not be that big of a deal at all.

    "Smart killers will patrol them."

No, just no. Smart killers are not patroling them because this tells smart survivors where they are. Second if you're guarding totems you aren't pressuring gens. This would be bad killer mistakes.

Hexes are usually near gens anyway so they aren't that hard to check on.

I also love the claim "most hexes can be ignored!". Killers love that one too.

  • Give more EMP boxes but make them a finite resource. This way survivors will need to be strategic about when they will use them. Maybe that would make him too strong though?

Edit: Or survivors can each retrieve one EMP but they need to charge it up to be able to use it. Or it goes on cooldown of some sort to charge back up.

  • They definitely need work. I basically just unhook them and that's it. I do not interact with them in any other way. I don't do gens with them, nothing. They fail way too many skill checks. I like to think of them as cannon fodder for the killer but there have been times where the bot opened the door and royally screwed everyone. So I'm not really sure anymore. If they are on second I don't even bother saving because they will most likely miss the checks before I get there.

  • @Blueberry said:

With how easy it is to remove hex totems would it really be OP? Most hexes don’t last past 2 minutes at best.

I love how often killer mains claim this, when it's simply not true. Yes, a hex can be cleansed early if the spawn is unlucky. But it definitely does not occur as often as killers claim. Hexes can be downright horrific if not cleansed early and can lead to snowballing of all sorts. So, smart survivors will search for them. Smart killers will patrol them.

So I was right, it is an incredibly useless way to play, that gets me killed because my teammates are too busy memeing to do the objective of the game.

    How "fun"!

You're kind of grouping all flashlight users in one basket. Not everyone uses them maliciously or goes out of their way to throw matches.

This is my exact issue with Distortion. I have at least one in every lobby, usually 2+. I used to run info builds instead of slow down, not anymore. What is your "slow down" in those builds? Not having to wonder if someone is hiding edge map, because MMR doesn't work, you have the info.

Distortion charging IN CHASE means that I pretty much cannot run 3-4 info perks and just play chill / practice a killer power. At most I run Infectious now, because people have been playing so stealthy since the buff to Distortion. I'm worried that people will start running Calm Spirit and make Infectious useless when the new info perk comes out during the Alien chapter.

I'm fine with Distortion being strong, some people hate being chased and want to be gen jockeys. My issue is that it can pretty much entirely delete most or all of my build without EVER interacting with me. This is exacerbated if I play Wesker, because my TR is so big they don't even need to be near me at all to keep permanent stacks. Then in solo queue it's so very common for a teammate to never see the killer/be hooked and why? At the end you find out they have distortion.

I have the game sense to know where they are, but the info confirms it and is necessary without slow down. If I ran just aura perks still, or mostly aura / no slow down to incentivize chases over just M1 holding, games would finish in just a couple of minutes. It's just so silly that it doesn't require things to earn your stacks. PEBBLE doesn't even charge in chase, why does Distortion?

I won't continue talking about Distortion, because I could go on for ages on why it was horribly reworked, but the fact is for both sides it's unhealthy and should require altruistic actions, etc to earn stacks. Completing a gen -> Safe Unhook -> Altruistic Heal -> protection hit -> beamer/pallet save, etc. Anything that helps/progresses the trial should be rewarded, but not being insanely stealthy, because it's unhealthy for both sides.

I agree 100% that distortion is problematic. As a teammate it's horrendous. Three people are on death hook but this Meg with distortion is refusing to take a chase. Some people use this perk very selfishly. Not everyone of course. But many do.

What is your "entire build/playstyle" that is centered solely around flashlights? Because that sounds like an incredibly useless way to play. That teammate who does nothing but follow the killer around to blind them at pallets and fish for flashlight saves? Isn't contributing anything for 95% of the match, at best. By "strategy" do you mean 4-man flashlight squads whose sole purpose is to give the killer retina damage? They deserve to be shut down.

Learn to adapt when your silly meme build doesn't work.

Blind builds are a thing. Sorry you're not a fan. Even in solo queue. Usually a combo of residual and blast mine. Maybe flashbang? Lightborn counters more than just flashlights. And when people are following you around with a flashlight, news flash. They are not doing generators or advancing their objective. They probably are trying to have fun. People should be allowed to have fun in this game.

As many have mentioned. There are counters to flashlights/flashbangs. I don't need to get into it.

We also have Franklin's, which I have no problem with. Because there isn't an immunity to certain effects.

  • @Blueberry said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3520643#Comment_3520643

Do you really see third seal that often? Playing nearly all day everyday I see third seal like once every 6 months..

I play daily, and I've seen it at least once a week. Maybe more. Even if it's once a year, would be way too OP with buffs to blindness. Then we'd probably be seeing it every other match.

  • Keep nerfing survivors and those gens will go faster and faster. It's going to get to the point where survivors will just hide and sneak around doing gens, refuse to take chases, heal, use flashlights, sabo hooks. There will be nothing for survivors to do except generators.

  • My problem with light born, is that it completely counters an entire build/playstyle with one perk slot. No perk in the game should entirely counter a certain strategy.

Imagine if survivors could equip a perk to make them immune from vault grabs? Or immune from being hooked in the basement?

Light born should have a cool down - in my opinion of course.

Light born also promotes gen rushing because survivors have nothing else to do because their entire build has been countered by one perk slot. Same with other survivor nerfs, such as healing. Survivors just do gens instead.

Sloppy butcher needs a good nerf too. I have the same issues with that one. Why would a survivor run resurgence, reactive healing, etc. When this one perk completely counters them? That's why no one really does.

  • Blindness is fine as is. Buffing it would only hurt solo queue players. And as someone who plays mainly solo queue. I have died on hook plenty of times due to teammates not paying attention to third seal.

  • Garden of joy has to be it. The main building is obviously strong, along with the three pallets outside. One on the patio, the one by the fence and the one near the truck. I find them all pretty strong. There's usually a few pallets on the perimeter as well. And when those are exhausted, head to shack lol.

Skull Merchant gets a Haste effect for every survivor you're able to track whether that's from a claw trap or them being in the radius of a drone.

    • 1 trackable Survivor equals +3 %
    • 2 trackable Survivors equal +5 %
    • 3 trackable Survivors equal +6 %
    • 4 trackable Survivors equal +7 %

Oh yes, I forgot she also gets a Haste effect. Well you can keep your haste and we will keep made for this?

  • @Wylrin said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3519253#Comment_3519253

What you described isn't what I'd consider a Skull Merchant using their power in chase to be. Putting a drone at a hex totem isn't relevant to chasing at all, and while slapping a drone down at every pallet is - unfortunately - a possible tactic, I'd say that's less chasing and more herding.

In my opinion, a chasing Skull Merchant would be using their Undetectable status to close distance quickly (and potentially for mid-chase mindgames, but I haven't had the opportunity to experiment yet) while using their passive speed boost to catch up with survivors and/or force them to reevaluate how many times they can safely run a loop.

Listen, I know what you're getting at. But literally slapping M2 and shutting down a loop (like knight) requires ZERO skill- in my opinion of course. I respect your opinion but I just can't agree.

  • The worst part is when you literally can't find a TV that is still turned on. I know full well how to counter her but if the TVs are all off what am I to do?

Edit: maybe survivors should be able to see an aura of a TV that is turned on within 24 meters.

This only true if they do the 3 gen build. If they use it as a chase too then should earn respect.

Okay so we have "chase merchant" who goes around and puts drones at every safe loop, camping hex totems and whatever else. I'm still not impressed, sorry.

  • @Xendritch said:

I like having MfT as killer.

I'm not following, sorry. What do you mean?

  • I have no issue dying to a Nurse or Blight, because they have mastered a very difficult power and have shown skill. I'm fine going down to any killer really, if I can see that they are very honed in on that killers power and clearly have practiced with them a lot. Knight and skull merchant have the most brain dead power, requires zero skill to use. If you enjoy the killer, good for you, but I for one am not going to be impressed with your win.

  • I was having HORRIBLE matches for like a month. I took a break and played re4 remake and when I came back the matches that I considered horrible before were actually fun again.

  • I'll be shocked if we ever see this implemented in the game. It'll never make it past the PTB because SWFs will find a way to abuse it.

  • Made for this also affects strong mobility killers. I have been dodging nurse swings like never before. And I've even bested a few blights using this perk. I've escaped hits that I normally would not have. You don't even need to spin. Just run lol.

  • The real problem with solo queue is people are healing - constantly - when they should be doing generators. That's the main reason you're not escaping.

  • They should just get rid of the chest aspect and let you craft a medkit by getting in a locker. Once injured, the perk charges up over 30 seconds. Once active you can craft the medkit. One time use.

  • Omg seriously?? Finally these damn window hits get addressed and they just revert it immediately? That's it, taking a break from this game. Its just become more frustrating than fun.

  • I can't remember the last time I actually did a daily. I ignore them completely. The reward is not worth the effort.

  • Sometimes I hit a survivor on hook to let them know they did a good job. Isn't this why everyone does it?

  • @Seraphor said:

True. At half the of the period covered, you'd expect it's usage rate to be half of what it currently is. So we can infer it's actual use rate is below 12%, which would make it at least no. 7 is not further down.

Okay, so then it should be at least at #10 currently. But it's not.

  • Made for this has been around for 51 days, so roughly half of this data. Even still, newer perks tend to be used more frequently on release and then die down a bit. The fact that it's not even at #10 tells me that the pick rate is much lower than is being claimed.

  • I personally don't really like going against her. It's sort of similar to knight where you are just holding w when they start setting up their power.

It's a good perk but I think the usage isn't that high. Requires a good player to make true use of it and it does lock you out of using an exhaustion perk. Perhaps it's contributed to the dip in lithe and sprint burst?

You would think with the supposed high pick rate that in its 51 days being released, it would surely at least break into the bottom of the top ten? But yeah, you could be right about Lithe and sprint burst. I'm interested to see the next batch of data.

  • Lol, and every single lobby has multiple people running made for this, right? It's not even in the top ten.
