  • Considering I single-handedly did two out of the five gens and collaborated on a two more I'm relatively sure that I got anywhere from 65 to 75% of those gens done. (These numbers granted may be scewed as I did run prove thyself and bring a tool box)

I wrote up this post right after completing the match that I reference while still looking at my emblems. So I know I'm remembering correctly, and I did take photos/video but for some reason nothing I take on the switch is saving despite showing in game it's been captured. (One of the reasons I was looking for similar experiences versus reporting. I don't have the evidence I gathered.)

I got hooked twice but won quite a few chases too I got like silver unbroken I think? I did die... and I remember I got silver chaser. I still depipped. Yet my last game of the night? I double pipped with a silver... two gold's and an irre. Like I said...it seems unbalanced.

  • I'd honestly just be happy if they fixed the 'bugs' as you called them @APoipleTurtle. I get these frequently enough that it's not uncommon for me to have a fifteen minute ban any time something happens (after all to get back down to five from fifteen I'd have to go 72 hours without a single problem) Bad weather and things like power outages aren't my main concern they don't happen often. But things like getting a penalty for someone else leaving the match before it starts and the match Canceling? Or Nintendo closing the game because I was playing at the exact moment an update for the system came out? (Honestly the first more than the second because it seems to happen three to four times a week.) Those could be fixed surely without changing how broadly it covers things

  • The DC punishments are ridiculously unbalanced. Just the other day I got three or four penalties (don't remember specifically which) for people disconnecting before the match started. I ended up at a fifteen or thirty minute ban then too. Which is extremely frustrating. I'm a Switch player and I can count on one hand and have four fingers left the amount of times since release in September that I've DCd on purpose... and I've never had any problems with being DCd by the game until the end of April. After the last issue I stopped playing for four days just to lower my DC penalty timer back to give minutes because you have to go 24 hours per tier to lower it down.

As for 'how' I'm not sure exactly how they can track it but it was mentioned by one of the Devs that mods the forums that they *could* work on making it more accurate but that basically that would take too much time away from fixing 'actual bugs'.

Maybe it can't fully be perfect, but it could definitely be made better than it is now. There are way too many instances where it gives penalties for things that it shouldn't. Now I'm not going to say that the issue I described at the beginning of my post here happens all the time, it's only happened to me the once (being given penalties for matches being cancelled due to disconnections) but the fact that that for instance happens at all could definitely be fixed.

  • I personally DC for a very small amount of reasons.

    1. AFK Killer. Sorry it's boring and not worth my time. I'm here to test my skills not be handed a win.

    2. If there is a legit emergency like someone is going to the hospital, or something like that.

    3. If everyone is AFK. Rare but it's happened to me a few times since I started in 2018. If I can't play a match because no one else is doing anything? Bye.

    4. When the game DCs me. This has been happening a lot since the newest update... don't know why. I went from September of last year when it came out for switch until this past month without a single forced DC and now suddenly im getting enough to get a thirty minute ban? Ouch. (I legitimately stopped playing for three days)

  • Pamela Voorhees for the new killer. (Only true Friday the 13th fans know that she is the real icon)

Camp Crystal lake for the map.

The survivor girl from part one as the new survivor.

Not a guess, but my dream.

  • If I had to hazard a guess I would think that the game update will come out at the same time as the last level of this tome in the archives. It makes sense to either do it all at once or one the day before the other again like last time. (This happened with 3.5 and level one of tome two)

  • I posted screenshots of my screen showing that I was in level 4 of the tome and the entire list of challenges in another thread:

    @Infinity_Bored said:

Once you have complete all challenges from Level 1 and choose "select challenge" from the archive widget, you will be sent to level 4.

Do you even test your updates, devs?

I cant believe this happened the 2nd time now...

Your post is gonna get deleted though.

Edit: Also can we address the devs don't seem to have learned their lesson with the previous tome because "With your own hands" is going to turn the game into mori central and everyone is going to start disconnecting right before the mori to make sure that killers don't get their challenge.

Like, how can they not predict these problems? They seem to assume the best of the community I think and that is their biggest mistake xD

I don't bring mory in order to do that so I don't know that struggle. I usually use perks like rancor that don't really give the survivors a heads up until it's too late and they're already being killed at that point it doesn't matter because I still get the kill even if they disconnect while I'm killing them. (At least it's worked the last couple of times I've needed to do it)

Edit: Also I am part of the switch community and that is my legit Nintendo ID and people may feel free to Mori me! ;)

  • Ehhh Screenshot it while you can I guess? XD

Of course other survivors will come to save - what choice do they have, let everyone die on first hook I suppose.

No. You're completely missing the point. It's about survival. ######### have three peeps go down to rescue player four from the basement during EGC? It's bloody stupid and the survivors deserve to die for it. When the gates come online the gloves come off. Sorry princess but Camping is no longer bad form at that point. In EGC is the logical and most understandable move.

I see two of my team heading into the shack to rescue player four? I shake my head, leave, and spectate as they die as I predicted.

  • Okay this probably isn't going to be a popular opinion, but I tunnel when I feel there is a reason to. I'm a survivor main and typically only do killer when I have dailies or challenges for some sort of event. If I am playing killer and I get survivors that loop me I leave them, it's not worth my time to get constantly looped while everyone else is doing gens. That's fine. What I have a problem with is when survivors are toxic for no apparent reason. I'm sorry if you sneak around using Urban invasion and hide around corners from me just to wait until I pass by and drop pallets at me when I'm not even chasing you and don't even know you're there and then proceeded to flashlight me over the pallets? That's just bull.

This literally happened tonight I chased the person for a little bit, they started looping me so I went off to check on the generators and cut my losses with the chase. Then as I'm going to chase another survivor the same person comes along and starts trying to flashlight me from beside me to get my attention. They basically proceeded to follow me around the whole match to throw pallets down even when we weren't in a Chase and flashlight me even when I didn't even know they were there. If you go into a match with a flashlight and do you intend to not do gens not unhook people and not heal people and you just want to go around the killer and drops it on them and blind them repeatedly? Yeah I tunnel the ######### out of them until they died after the third or fourth time they did this.

I didn't just do this because I was frustrated with being followed and screwed with, I did this out of frustration as a survivor main with somebody who was obviously doing absolutely nothing to contribute to their team. I literally ended up letting the other three go because I ended up hooking them all twice and this person didn't even bother to try and save any of them their only mission during this match was to bully me with not one not two but three different flashlights. If I get a survivor like that that is just creeping around and doing nothing, or deliberately screwing with me instead of actually participating in the match? You bet I'm going to tunnel them to death. Then I'm going to let their teammates go because they're a piece of crap and dragging their entire team down with them.

I'll be brutally honest: its not my job to help.

I know I sound rude, but if others can do it so can you

I'm not specifically asking for people to help me complete my challenges. I'm just saying that there's no reason to be completely toxic when people are obviously trying to complete them. Like at somebody else's suggestion I changed my name to reflect which challenge I was working on and that made the situation worse. Killers and survivors alike seemed to take that as an invitation to deliberately thwort me at every single turn. Even people on my own team when I was playing as survivor would see me going for things along with my name change and deliberately Sprint off in front of me to cut me off sometimes even using perks that they could be saving to use against the killer to increase their speed so that they could beat me into what I was trying to do.

I'm just asking for common courtesy. Like don't body block me from doing #########, don't be an arse just for the sake of it.

Surprisingly enough, some people actually play this game for gameplay... shocking I know.

In all seriousness though if someone doesn't want to farm with you accept that ######### and move on. Sometimes I'm in a ######### mood and just want to enjoy the game and farming is the exact opposite of that.

Also hot take the 4th level was easier than the previous two levels

Once again I'm not asking for people to let me farm. I'm just asking for people to not be toxic dicks. Going and playing the game is one thing but seeing my name change and tunneling me from the beginning of the match until I die and camping me on every hook so I can't do what I'm trying to do is something else.

Having my teammates refused to rescue me off of hooks because my name change makes it obvious I'm trying to do a goal? It's something else.

I also like most people completed the fourth level of the rift rather easily, at this point I'm going back and getting things that are harder for me specifically like getting flashlight blinds. Doing this particular challenge seems to be the hardest at least from where I'm standing because now that I've changed my name to express my need for those it seems my teammates have just automatically assumed that I'm going to spend the entire match trying to get them and thus don't rescue me when I get hooked. Likewise The Killers will deliberately avoid me until they can get me down and then face camp me on each hook until I die.

To the OP - if you haven't noticed, the killer and survivor challenges are pretty much in direct opposition of each other. Even then, this is a two way street. Do you know how many survivors are running things like flip flop, unbreakable, and any other wiggle perks just to not be hooked in the basement?

    This isn't killer specific.

I'm not saying it's killer specific. I'm just saying that from my perspective I have happened had good luck when doing my killer challenges. I've ran into survivors whenever I've had a particularly challenging killer challenge willing to allow me to complete it in exchange for letting them go. Some have even been so grateful for the farming that they have deliberately stayed and let themselves die during the end-game collapse. That being said I have ran into toxic survivors as well that just don't give a crap about anybody else. If it seems like I'm just bashing killers that isn't my intention, I just happen to have had less toxic survivors than I have had toxic killers. I'm not a main on either side... I play both equally and I'm aware of the problems that both sides have.

That is toxic I agree- yet survivors have been doing that actively to me too.

Thing is how do you know they know? There is no communication. For all you know they just were scared of your flashlight, did you have flashlight challenge in your name or something? If you did I would help you, but if you didn't and others has flashlights I would probably grab lightborn and never let you stun me; because I wouldn't know but all I see is potential for a frustrating game of constant stuns.

Based on the fact that they will either avoid me for the rest of the match or tunnel me to death honestly it's probably just my assumption that I have. Like to me if somebody isn't trying to run away, stays in one spot and continues to try and flashlight you even as your injuring them... I would automatically assume they were doing a challenge. But I didn't think of changing my name I could try that and see if that helps thank you for the tip!

  • @thesuicidefox said:

I had a Myers signal us to farm because he wanted his grabs. Dude then gets EW3 and slugs 3 of us to try and get a cheeky 4k. If he wasn't an awful killer he could have just won the game right there but we managed to recover and 4e.

So no I'm not interesting in helping a killer farm for the challenges.

See I'm sorry that's just as bad. Like...I genuinely go around and help people with their challenges whether I'm a survivor or a killer. I don't then try and screw them all over after getting what I need. if I'm a killer doing challenges I'm happy to let the survivors that help me go and if I'm a survivor doing challenges I'm happy to die afterwards.

Hell I don't even necessarily I want people to help me do my challenges for say I just don't want people to outright make it impossible by like avoiding me (when I'm a survivor) or something like that. You don't want to help that's fine but you don't need to deliberately be a jerk :/ so I'm really sorry that happened to you.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I've actually thrown matches helping survivors get their challenges done; but if I encountered someone who demanded it or acted entitled to it like that I would probably kill them anyways. The killer doesn't owe the survivors the challenge, if they want to play the game like normal that is 100% in their right and fine to do so.

Also I've never had survivors help me with my killer challenges, not once, even if I help them as soon as I try and do any of my part they will all stop farming me and go full try hard mode. Usually I can't even get that far unless they are SWF, solo survivors never clue in so they will full try all game. So it isn't like it's killer's being "Salty" by that logic survivors are "Salty" too for playing the game.

See but that is completely not what I'm saying. I'm talking about the killers that are aware of what's happening and do anything and everything they can to prevent other people from completing their challenges. That's not 'playing the game' that's just being toxic. Like I'm not asking for people to even make it easy for me in hindsight...I'm just asking that you don't deliberately go out of your way to make it impossible. Like the spirit I just finished with realized what I was trying to do and refused to deal with me for the rest of the match. They wouldn't even come near me. Yes I escaped...but they deliberately let me go so that I wouldn't have an opportunity to flashlight them a second time.

  • I've been working on some of these challenges since the beginning like I can't use a flashlight for crap. All I need are two blindings. I don't care if I died after. But what gets me is that there are killers that deliberately like avoid helping out. Like for instance with this challenge it's very obvious what I'm trying to do... I'm not trying to run away I don't even try and wiggle when they pick me up. I'm just dropping a pallet in front of them and trying to flashlight them. The last two killers have literally turn their heads to the side and stood there until my flashlight drained and then tunneled me throughout the rest of the match.

I'm not expecting like miracles... Or even to get my challenge and escape... It just would be nice to get somebody occasionally who isn't deliberately impeding my progress just because they can. 😬

I prefer chases as a killer than 4 blendettes on a Yamaoka map.

    Shocking I know.

As someone that plays a little bit of both... I feel that. Like... There is nothing worse as a killer in my opinion then having four Claudette players sneak around in the tall grass with Urban invasion. Not only do matches like that make it impossible for other survivors to get decent amounts of points... But it makes the game completely not fun for the killer in question because they can't do anything. While there is something to be said for the strategy as a whole... Unfortunately I tend to run across people that are doing it in a group rather than just a team with one.

  • Like I was just saying it's rather easy if you go about it in the proper way. I just managed to do it with the trapper on my second try.

  • I mean I totally understand the issue with camping as somebody that does play survivor.

Now as killer I do occasionally use camping as a strategy, but typically only if I have a daily or a challenge that requires something specific. A perfect example being the level 3 challenge in the archives that involves no one escapes death. once you get the two survivors on the hook it's almost required for you to camp them in order to make sure neither one of them gets off the hook and escapes. I reserve camping for times like this where it serves the specific purpose. I don't camp just to be a jerk. And I never face camp unless the survivor in question was being super toxic.

As has been already pointed out, unfortunately there are a group of people out there that just camp to be rude. They are deliberately salt and don't care if they win or lose. My advice would be if your experience that attempt to escape the hook until you entered tier 2 and then let yourself die.

Except now it's a challenge and survivors will realise what you are doing the moment they see agitation/iron grasp or you're just trying to drag everyone in the basement

that's weird because it's been a challenging one of the previous levels and I was still able to get it. I forget which level it was I'd have to check, but I got it literally on the first try. There are always going to be those potatoes. You just have to keep working at it. I typically make it through at level of the tome within a day or two.

  • Do you have any idea how many times I managed to sacrifice all four people in the basement? Most of the time I managed to do this within the first 10 minutes of the match because I happened to get a lot of potatoes that tend to all flood the basement to rescue one survivor, but the point is I managed to do this 7 times just yesterday alone. Some were harder than others...but to do it I tend to use the trapper and trap the ######### out of the stairs. 🤷
