I never understand this "supporting the game" logic. When you play a game, you aren't supporting it, you're playing it. When you buy DLC or cosmetics, you are a consumer making consumer decision, you buy product, you get something from the exchange. You aren't donating to a charity, so don't feel like you can pat yourself on the back. "Oh I was there in the early days when only 100 players were playing it, it was some obscure game that didn't win any awards or anything."
This is Canadian based independent game.. so before you go pounding your chest like a freemium user with no impulse control sighting FOMO.
The community supported the game by attending live streams, intracting on social media and purchasing costemics/ dlc's.
Dead by Daylight has become a 'game as a service' because of the communities continued patronage.
We've been through the game breaking bugs, poor balance and broken updates.
Releasing codes on social media is something I would argue serves a smaller demographic than what this thread is arguing originally.
With the average user not knowing how to imput them properly or even caring to.
Releasing old costmeics with time gated codes bennifit the community or does it serve a small group of users?

Once again your mindset is "your problem isn't my problem". If it doesn't effect me I'm not interested. I'm seriously not even reading your responses anymore. Like I guess we will see in the long run whether or not behavior thinks the lobby dodging and tunneling is an issue. You can move on.

So done with arguing with you. Your mindset is a literal example of what's wrong with the prestige system. Call me entitled all you want. If wanting to be matched with my mmr and not wanting to be tunneled is entitled then I claim it proudly. Enjoy wishing negative gaming experiences onto other players just because you think its stupid to spend bp on your fav characters.
Your assumption that users are targeted by prestige with zero evidence other than 'feelings' isn't a fact or a strong argument imo
Surprise Gamer!
Players are targeted for a variety of reasons. Simply put, if you are the weakest link you will be killed quickly.
Survivors found first, those caught attempting to break a hex, unsafe unhooks by teammates, w/e all lead to a difficult escape.
Nothing to do with prestige or rank.
You're not factoring how killers have changed their playstyle. Instead you blame your displayed experience level not gen speed, the item in your hand or the evolving meta.
Thinking the killer is penciling down the prestige levels before match.. sounds like emotional damage to me.
Nothing is stopping you from playing offline 'party mode' with unlimited items.
And your problem isn't my issue tbh because I spread my bp on other Survivors/ Killers for permanent perks unlocks.
I play in a variety of ways with multiple builds.
My concern is.. would BHVR code an option to hide prestige or perform the most cost effective solution and remove prestige all together?
So let me flex on you a little bit before you ignore this post.. you stated I don't have much prestige to lose.
My total prestige level is 250 and you're a level 100 getting rolled daily repeating the same mistakes with the same result 👀
-
Once again you fail to miss the mark..
Could have stopped prestiging held onto the bp waited to use it.
Even after your favorite streamer and all your friends say/ complain how it's detrimental to their/ your gaming experience.
(At a minimum you earned 800 toolboxes, 800 medkits, 800 flashlights.. 2,400 trails worth of strong items.
2,400 games at 20 mins a pop = 48,000 minutes if fame time. Which works out to 800 hours of being boosted ingame no wonder you are entitled js)
Then complain about being dodged or hard tunneled when your "character" is stacked/ kitted out smh
"BHVR I want all the advantages.. items, perks and offerings without the killer knowing. Hide prestige from the game so we can play life smurfs. I refuse to keep playing against someone informed!"
btw I asked you: "Can you stop yourself from eating food? Or do you you blame your weight on McDonald's as well?"
Your response: "No. I cant stop myself from eating food.. you know, because I'd starve to death. Great analogy there, my guy."
Me rn🤦♂️

Oh. One more thing. Thank you for the picture of your characters and how they're leveled. It did absolutely nothing to prove your point. You should know EVERY SINGLE ONE of my characters were at least double yours and I had every surv unlocked. I played ALOT of dbd. You were clearly just slow to earn bp🤷♂️. When I say I favored Feng. I meant I poured most of my bp into her. But I had already leveled up my others for perks and challenges. Its hard to keep the prestiges lower when you earn so much bp all the time. So spreading out the bp evenly? Yeah, no.
Can you stop yourself from eating food?
Or do you you blame your weight on McDonald's as well?
If I was leveling up and noticed the killer targeting me because of my level or leaving the lobby.
I would switch to another character/ skin until the community caught up to my main.
I wouldn't make my issue/ mistake everyone else's problem.
I wouldn't request other players to sacrifice their prestige because I was impulsive and caused myself more lobby time/ to get tunneled.
The solution to your problem is to create a new account and start over because your main account is boosted.
But you want to look cool.. so buy an account online or wait until we hit prestige 100 as well.
You have plenty of time on your hands with your bp grind to start over 🤷♂️
-
Spend your bp while searching for lobbies and while waiting on others to ready up.. most efficient way of doing things currently
I agree with your post though, would be nice if leveling up was streamlined.

Or..I really like Feng and spend all of my bp on her because she's the only character I like to play. So I spend all of my MASSIVE amounts of bp on the bloodweb hoping to good items for her. Your mindset is literally an example of the problem. See. I prestige my character and it becomes "flexing" to people like you. No. If I wanted to flex it why would I be asking for it to change? Your logic is completely flawed. Spending so much bp on her was never an issue before the prestige system. In fact, I never prestiged her the first time. I play casual dbd and happen to like one character insanely more than the others. I've spent more real money on her than I care to admit. Why should I have to not spend bp on her just because people think I'm "flexing"? As for adapting to higher mmr? Hmm. It's hard to adapt to the mmr system when the killers that I am matched with based on my mmr are leaving every game BECAUSE of the prestige. Plus, I am a casual gamer. I don't want a sweat fest everytime I play. So yes, the prestige does make people think I'm more skilled/tryhard than I actually am. That's the whole problem.
I don't think you understand how prestige works in online games..
Imagine being master prestige in call of duty and complaining about getting run over because players adjust they're playstyle based on your prestige level/ experience you display in the lobby.
I personally spread my bp over a variety of characters but my highest prestige level is 20.
Can you not search a chest for items or do you need 100 brown toolboxes to feel confident enough to play a match as Feng?
And you're not the only person who spends money on the title.. plus you're a casual so calm down.
The majority of users like this feature 💪
-
Sounds like you play a lot, never adapted to higher mmr and throw regularly with no plan other than to eat the hook playing the same build.
Then come here to say..
BHVR don't add or introduce a prestige reset just remove the feature completely because you foolishly tried to flex and now found yourself being flexed on.
-
Being penalized for 30 seconds is.. I hate to use the term but boring.
It's poorly designed as a trap perk.. perks like make your choice, death bound, haunted grounds, etc have proper consequence.
Eruption creates stagnation in the match and sucks the air out of the room tbh
Exploding the gen and losing progress is whatever. But the lingering effect of being incapacitated should be removed/ reduced/ changed into a hex 🤔
-
You say you're bad then blame the prestige being shown..
You write it's either you or the lowest level survivor ingame targeted. But it sounds like the killer is just killing the weak link tbh
Mixing up your build will most likely address the issue directly.
Two boons, detectives hunch and windows is a solid meta js
I personally think the prestige system being a flex is great (ingame notoriety)
-
GivePyramidHead?
-
"Every game of dbd is uphill both ways" smh 🤦♂️
-
You ran to a bad jungle gym.. you need to recognize titles better especially when using a perk like lithe or overcome as exhaustion perks.
You also hit that window too early when you had distance on the killer.
You should have waited.. it gave him the mind game advantage when you lost line of sight.
You saved the pallet when his chain saw was fully rev'd without dead hard or any real plan of action other than taking the down.
Two map offerings were burned by the survivors.
This usually indicates to the killer that survivors are comfortable playing on the map or their build favors that maps play style.
The killer can make the choice to kill a survivor fast to level the playing field at any point of the game imo
If your teammate wastes the pallet near the hook. They're the reason you died.
The killer knows that area is unsafe because of your teammates actions.
Body blocking doesn't help against every killer.
E.g the nurse, the plague, oni etc
Survivor game play requires game sense, team work and cojones.
A lot of killers stand by the hook to chase easier as low end survivors play stealthy (They call it immersive gameplay) hooking others players will draw them out.
Ds quick & quiet head on combo, kindred, off the record, dead hard, med kit with bottled time or whatever camaraderie was renamed to might help.
Survivors will help/ trade if they have an understanding of what's going on in my experience js

Wait, you mean you were buying those skins because you wanted to look like you dumped a ton of money into the game, not because they looked good? In the parts of the internet where I come from, people usually try to avoid that.
You do you, IG. But you can safely stick with licensed killer outfits if that's what you want. Those are never going to be obtainable with shards on account of royalties.
Also, you'd have a point with the bread and water thing if this were a F2P game. It's not. Everyone playing DBD has paid for the base game and whatever DLC they've purchased.
Really cute post.. it's a like a bum complaining about people buying Nike's.
Then Nike gives the shoes to the homeless for collecting cans and all of sudden Nike is doing a great deed 🤦♂️
How can you not understand that BHVR decision is devaluing the item?
A recolor would have been sufficient and "fair"
I wasn't gifted the game with playstation plus, Xbox gold or downloaded it as f2p epic games gamer.
So spare me with, "I'm a customer" routine smh
This game has been free, discounted to a dollar on steam or is part of a subscription service.
At most you paid $40-60 multiple years ago.. you are not entitled to cosmetics sold to other customers.
Tbh you don't have a valid opinion on this subject because you don't even own a paid skin imo
-
I'm sorry I didn't know the people asking for free bread and water were customers
Cosmetics locked behind a paywall should stay behind a paywall imo
Could have easily released a recolor of the skin for shards.
To unlock a paid cosmetic signals to me that bhvr has nothing new for free users to release..
Or this is a five head move to force paying users to purchase another skin. As these customers are not satisfied looking like a freemium/ f2p gamer 🤷♂️
Sucks because charms are the only exclusive item that are "safe" in the game now
They're not noticeable and were released with no emote or animation to show them off.
Are usually limited timed and are never released.
-
Agreed the visual effect is taxing but the audio of the screaming souls during Nightfall is off putting and disturbing imo
It would be nice if you could toggle the effect/ audio but I guess it's matter of getting used to it 🤷♂️
-
Sorry for the bump.. haven't been here in awhile.
Unfortunately I think the brains at bhvr forgot that this a team based game.
Survival is result of teamwork.
Yet bhvr grades the user on the team's performance?
Grades are important as they were a win condition in the past.
And the game still grades your performance, adding a survival mmr system is redundant busy work.
Then to remove grades with no replacement so haphazardly with a blurb on the blog shouldn't surprise me with this company but it did.
Coincidering it was done as a result of the mmr feedback isn't enough of justification imo.
Anyways, this grade situation could have been rolled out with excitement.
Imagine hyping the player base up saying you're removing grades to being in new unlockable emblems by introducing a persistent tome with emblem challenges.
Such as:
Sacrifice 100/1,000/10,000 survivors with a specified Killer earn an emblem grade to display.
Down 100/1,000/10,000 survivors ect.
Escape 100/1,000/10,000 etc.
Complete 100/1,000/10,000 gens etc.
So on..
But hey the way bhvr goes about doing things is the irl version of, "this is fine" meme.

@Mandy said:
Removing Grades from the end screen has been one of the most requested things from the Community.
A lot of the community believed that grades = MMR which it clearly does not, Grades are pretty much only a representative of time played that month and nothing else.
It does not affect matchmaking in the slightest.
The matchmaking changes that were implemented will affect a very small portion of the players - those at the very peak off MMR.
There are 197 perks in game.. what percentage of the community actually understand how they work or how they synergize?
Considering the amount of bbq&chill hate on the forums imo it's less than 50% of the community.
Most players don't play both roles and have a limited understanding of the game.
Diluting the core player base for the sake if speed will cause more frustration ingame.
The variety we want is more top tier killer characters worth playing as or against.. not games against midrange mmr killers that use trapper etc.
I like the game how it was when I purchased it and the game has continue to grow even when..
Matchmaking crashed for days because this became free Playstation plus title.
When promoted events dropped with major bugs.
When players glitched auric cells and you let them keep the currency.
So I searched "removing grades" here on the forms and found 23 pages of discussions.
Then I searched "nerf deadhard" and found over 300 pages of discussions js
In closing.. grades indicate experience/ knowledge and while they're meaningless to others, some of us found them helpful js

So, they need to fix the way they rank because it is so stupid if you go against a bad killer and destroy them and the match is like less than 10 min YOU LOSE A PIP. Also, you should get more points for running the killer, this is not even a joke 80% of my games I spawn right next to the killer and I always end up being the runner and I can’t do gens and I’m the only reason they can do them and then when the game ends I get like 15,00 bps and no rank up which is so stupid because it takes no skill to do gens but it takes a lot to run but NO THE GEN JOCKY GETS MORE BPS, I’ve used the shroud offering that spawns you AS FAR AWAY FROM THE KILLER AS POSSILE AND IM STILL THE FIRST ONE TO BE CHASED HOW AM I SUPPOSE TO PIP UP IF I CANT DO GENS.
Basically, they hide until someone gets chased.
For whatever reason they think avoiding the killer is the objective when dbd is a game of distraction..
But mmr/skill > rank/experience right bhvr 🤦

You are punishing people for being found last for no reason. This is a team game since SWF is in it. So treat it as such, and have the "win" be based off how many escape, and not individual, you got NOED camped at the end of the match so down you go while 3 others escape.
I have started going down on purpose if i am found at 1 or 2 gens just to make sure i am not the last one on the hook when the final gen is done, because i am sick of running the killer last and then getting punished for it.
0 escape = max mmr points for killer
1 escape = + mmr but not max
2 escape = draw
3 escape = - mmr
4 escape = maximum - mmr.
Is this so hard? It would help distribute survivors throughout the ranks as well.
Agreed, mmr allows weak survivors to fail upwards.
The old emblem system forced survivors to play well to earn rank. It taught you the game through trail and error.
Punishing bad gamellay by de-pipping a player for dying fast, farming hooks or playing stealthy.
This new surviving meta only incentives swf/players who are weak to avoid helping the team win as a whole. The one thing the old emblem system was attempting to enforce.
I used think, "there isn't enough points on the map for everyone to pip. I'll take this hook for some team altruism points"
With todays meta, I kill myself when I notice that my team is playing selfishly.
Thanks mmr

10 seconds after being hooked in the basement, this perk activates. While active, if the Killer is in the basement, The Entity blocks the basement entrance and increases all other Survivors' repair speeds by 100% for 10/15/20 seconds.
Interesting idea but locking the killer in the basement only ensures that the player hooked will die and doesn't truly address the problem you're attempting to fix.
Maybe the killer could be stunned if they stay within a certain rage of the hook for a period of time by the entity?
The perk could read something like, "the entity demands you to suffer alone. Any killer standing with 15 meters of a hook for more than 20/15/12 seconds with be stung by the entity"
This perk could work for survivor with basketball theme as it's similar to the 3 second violation for standing in the paint.

In addition, hospital Myers and his screwdriver have nothing to do with the H18 trilogy. The hospital robe is from his escape at the beginning of the first film, and they added an IV to his arm. No idea where the abnormally long screwdriver came from, since he never wields one, but I assume it's the same creative liberties. We also don't have an old woman Laurie and nothing's been posted about plans to add her, although it would be great, and JLC has said she's now cool having her likeness in the game.
Fair enough, you are also correct about the cosmetic being from Halloween 4.
In this video "Halloween 4 Kill count" the Shapes cosmetic is from the garage scene @ 3:32 https://youtu.be/sT0gJbZDvL4
The pipe is used in the movie. Since its a garage scene I guess the screw driver could be easily swapped as the weapon or possible alternate take?
With H18 being a re-release/remake the garage scene was reused in the flim and I was mistaken.
However Laurie's dlc cosmetic is from the first movie
With the graphical update you can clearly see that Laurie no longer looks like a old woman.
Although I do remember seeing a yt leak of a incomplete in Halloween theme map inspired by the checkered floor Asylum from H18.
All signs point to the anniversary The Shape dlc being related to Halloween 4 and Lourie as the original.
My apologies @HeyItsQuiet

That's what you took from this thread? Not that the team can now correct an error in a licensed map, but that I mentioned he was a douche? Odd, but okay.
The op didn't have to include her opinion on the owner of a house.
If the issues is lore related great, leave it at that.
Trying to get someone canceled from the game bc the home owner isn't tagging users in his Instagram is the vibe I received from this thread js
Fyi BHVR doesn't have the full Halloween license. Hence the name "The Shape" it's the first movie license. They worked out a new deal for the anniversary with the re-released movie from 2018 adding the screw driver/ escaped patient look and old woman lorie
-
If you're playing dbd to be "Stealthy" you are throwing.. it's that simple.
You win the game by keeping the killer busy. If the killer is ping ponging Gen to Gen looking for "Stealthy" survivors gens can not be completed.
Never heard a killer rage or complain about strong "Stealthy" gameplay.. unless ur trying to get the killer to DC out of boredom.
"Stealthy" playstyle depends on your teammates chases, deaths and avoiding the killer at all cost.. basically you want to be carried as a random while earning the easiest points.
Take your chase when needed and play the game to benefit your teams chances at survival as a whole js

I do think that the system should be a bit more nuanced at the survivor end of things, but I'm getting much closer matches at the more intermediate levels. It's gone from 2 of every 3 games being me stomped and teabagged by either a whole wall of red/purple or smurfing SWFs to maybe 3/5 games being really good, 1 being a bit easy and 1 being a crushing loss.
That's...decent.
Play With Your Food it's basically SWF kryptonite from my experience. SWF can't help but to feed you stacks when you pressure them with a slug, defend a hook, protect a three gen, etc.

no one can see their mmr and said they play for higher mmr
higher mmr mostly gives you bad experience
did you tried to talk with others?
all those play for win because mmr thing only in your imagination
My imagination..
The problem is that the red rank mindset/ community is gone.
You can earn all the MMR and rank you want and the games remain the same.. High skilled players are doing their job wasting the killers time only to be left holding the bag at the end of the trial because of MMR. Survivors are now choosing to escape over pips because pips no longer factor into skill, only escapes.
Which is perfectly fine.. you can play how you want to play.
The problem is that that MMR has killed the end game aspect of the title. There is nothing to achieve in the game as earning red rank was assurance that the players you were matched with guaranteed a good playing experience.
The game is so nuanced that multiple variables can come into play depending on the situation that teammates inexperience can make or break a game. The rank system had survivors earn their skill/ pips instead of gifting it to others so the next guy down the line didn't have the eat a turd sandwich but w/e.
This is just my opinion from my experience playing through all the ranks and MMR as survivor over the past two months.

Is it possible a "Candyman Chapter" was postponed bc of the pandemic and due to that the twins and the trickster were released earlier than anticipated hence the bugs?
Maybe it's the fact the company as had difficulties trying to adjust to no longer working in the office together?
Nah, it's most likely bhvr dropping their standards and not the servers being overloaded with new and returning players with the popularity of Resident Evil Chapter/ Anniversary.
Anyways, I passed on "a binding of kin" "all-kill" and "Chapter XX" as I already have the best perks the game like Babysitter, Better Together, and Buckle Up but I wouldn't mind an anniversary sale.
-
Sorry for the bump, but I haven't seen performance issues like this in awhile.. 😵
-
@tenoresax my idea is that if the you wouldn't drop your item if killer was running sloppy butcher. Once hit the item would hang from a chain/ handcuff or your character just wouldn't drop the item.
I agree tier two needs to be reworked, but CUFFED without tier two and three could be a decent event addon for all items idk.
-
The best way imo to keep people from dying/ killing themselves on hook is taking protection hits or the chase from other users regardless of their hook status. Obviously this isn't always possible depending on your location, however teamwork is key.
Also comradery.. teabag survivors to say hello, teabag after heals to thank and drop items for other survivors. If someone is on the hook but another user needs a heal drop your med kit, notice a swf your room drop them a flashlight, etc.
Good luck out there 💪
-
I agreed, but it's not surprising since the map is basically the same layout from Payday 2's Hotline Miami Day 2 with a Silent Hill reskin.
If you have never played this mission you basically start in the courtyard by finding the bag of C4.
You destroy one of the two entrances into the building, then frantically run into an apartment building, running down long corridors in a square formation, sometimes blasting your way into apartments looking for the stairwells to the next floor.
Eventually you have to find the collapsed ceiling as the stairwell is blocked on one floor.
These gameplay elements are still included from the courtyard, the stairwells, the dead end rooms to the mission specific collapsed ceiling that you need to find to advance in the original map design for Payday.

Look at the leader boards for CoD and tell me PS4 and Xbox One don't have hackers. It may be harder for them to hack a console but it can still be done. I was a console player most of my life until I converted to the master race about 5 years ago. I saw plenty of hackers. You could easily spot them too. On xbox if someone's gamertag had 100-200 achievement points you can bet that's a hacker. Odds are they were banned before and had to make a new account. You get achievements for turning on the game. Brand new players would have more than that if they were truly playing the game.
The ps4 hasn't been officially jail broken yet.. hackers and modders are not a problem on the current gen. The only cheats available are exploits in game depending on the title.
There is jail break / custom firmware available but it can only be used offline. Consoles with tampered firmware are unable to connect to online services.
However some PC players have found a way to connect to ps4 and xbox matchmaking with the new dedicated servers. This isn't the first post about this js

I’m a solo survivor main and I personally think 4 man swf is the most OP thing in the entire game. So...
Should swf be restricted to two player max? No way, because I imagine for many, much of the fun with DBD is playing with a full team of friends. So restricting this in isolation, would probably harm the game with lower player number, which means longer cue times, etc. So...
Should we split the player base to accommodate for swf or even perk restrictions? No! Because in reality, hardly anyone would want to play in the ‘competitive’ lobbies.
Fixing swf is going to require a change to game dynamics, rather than giving the community an option of enforcing player restriction in a ‘casual’ and ‘competitive’ mode.
I think something as simple as adding a 5% (stackable) slow down on gens for every addition swf player, could do the trick. That means, even with a 4 man team, gens would still only take an extra 16 seconds. (not considering great skill checks, tool boxes, etc) This would give Killers a little more well needed breathing room and put survivors in a position where they are more at risk at being found by the Killer.
But what do I know? 🤷🏻♂️
I completely disagree, swf groups play to win not to have fun.
On top of that they usually have a gang mentality that brings out the worst in them. The majority of these users are out to have fun at someone else's expense.
If groups were to restricted to a casual mode this behavior would be culled. Killers in a casual match would be there to earn bp the same as survivors.
This would gradually create an environment for all.
As winning in casual wouldn't be it's sole goal. Having fun, memeing and walking away with bp would be it's purpose.
As for your argument that this game isn't competitive.
I believe the majority of killer mains would disagree with that. Killers host the game, challenging themselves against 4 other users in an attempt to kill the majority of the players in game.
Survivors have been designed to win/pip when dying as killers lose if more than two escape.
A solo queue ranked mode with crossplay would also remove the ability to communicate easily. As different platforms don't use the same messaging, voice chat abilities.
Balancing the game as it was intended.
Casual matchmaking wouldn't require rank to matchmake. Making games easy to find, while ranked match making would utilize mmr.
Adding 4,8,12,16 seconds to a solo gen isn't a solution imo as swf work gens together for extra points and speed.
This would only punish solo survivors when playing in rooms with a swf groups js
-
@kreeper124 agreed, but I will say wait times recently have been much better depending on the time of day you play.
I personally don't put much stock into steam numbers as I play on ps4. The dbd wiki states that the game has sold more than 5 million copies but then again it's a wiki idk
-
There should be two modes tbh..
Ranked match where players earn rank and bp but it's restricted to solo queue
Casual match where players can practice casually, try new strats/ builds and play swf groups but only earn bp
Imo this would:
- reduce toxicity in game
- make rank require actual game knowledge and skill
- encourage players to help random players in game instead of using them as bait etc
- create a fair environment for everyone
- balance the game as it's was original designed
-
NOED needs a nerf?
The killer usually only downs one player with it, camps the hook while survivors have two minutes to find and cleanse the totem.
Or another survivor trades with the hooked player extending the time for survivors to look for it once again.
How is that powerful?
Players refuse to break totems mid match out of fear of notifying the killer of their position then complain about the perk and label the killer bad?
If the gens are done and you still haven't pip'd that's a you problem js
-

Your solution is the issue though. Your answer is essentially "you need to grind harder." The game is played in roughly 10-minute intervals and is the same over and over, except for the characters, item choices, and environment and skins if any in the mix--that keeps it fresh and the gameplay is just fun. However, I would argue that nothing fresh is provided by forcing a player to start at level 1 on every character and then take forever to get each character's best perk versions (or less frankly, especially considering the common perks). I think it is quite the opposite actually, as after playing a high-level character with several perks, no one would really want to start with a level 1 with 1 perk slot and work their way up organically anyway. As explained below, they probably don't, which makes the leveling even more trivial. If playing solely for getting points most efficiently, most people will play only a handful of characters at best (notice your own advice here as well as advice supplied in general for using specifically a couple of perks) and only in a handful of ways compared to the vast array of choices available, which means the leveling of each character is taking place as a byproduct of playing as another character and has nothing intrinsically to do with most characters themselves, which renders a lot of the game and leveling pointless. I mean really, how many people have you heard say something like "I play character A until I have blood points Y so I can take a character from level 1 to level 25 or so"? I bet a lot. It seems to be what you are saying I should do. I mean sure, you can say to play as so and so with perks A and B and keep going till my characters are leveled up, but that only bolsters my argument even more. Farming currency (grinding) until characters are leveled isn't by itself always bad, but IN THIS GAME it means I could have played like 10 other games and beaten them (or more considering all the DLC) or I can farm until this gigantic chore is behind me and then finally start just gaming the game. I realize I could be exaggerating a bit, but honestly, we are really in the ballpark of that level of silliness, like you could play through skyrim 3 times before you get your characters in this game just to the point at which you can just play for the sport of it with respect to all characters--literally though. The grind is exceptionally excessive, silly and completely unnecessary. I mean really, how much of blood-point tools should we be? Not to mention that I am leveling the majority of my characters with barely any if any playing time as them--it is a bit silly. Even someone else in here said the dlc was not worth buying because of the grind, which is a major problem considering it only takes 10 minutes or less to play this game (listen to how this sounds--"I like your game where I choose a character and it takes 10 minutes to play, and the new dlc characters seem really cool, but I don't want to buy them because the grind for the 10-minute game is too long"--eek.). As for not being in for the long haul, I played today, at least. The younger-audience comment was a side note and not really critical to the main point.
The grind so to speak is the reason why online multiplayer games keep their audience.
An example of this is GTA 5, the game was released in 2013 yet still holds its playerbase because of the slow progression ingame.
Players have spent years leveling and earning small sums of money to purchase ingame items that are far beyond a new players reach.
Does this deter new players from playing or does it give them something to strive for?
As for perks I suggested, judging by your ingame profile I assume you are a runner.
You have leveled up meg who's perks are to buff looping. Sprint burst & Adrenaline
David who's only good perk is dead hard also buffs looping.
Which indicates to me that you are either trying to get chased or you are using them to extend a chase.
If I had to guess you plan on leveling up Claudette for self-care..
When you could get more value out of bond to find teammates to heal you along with all the other benefits I listed earlier.
Either way that is not an efficient way for a growing player to play. To pip and earn a decent amount of bp while playing survivor you need to focus on 3 emblems Lightbringer, Benevolent and Evader.
The Unbroken emblem is dependent on your team finishing gens, running the killer and surviving only grants 5000 bp.
You can't just pick up the game and expect to play like noob3 or whomever when you haven't even leveled a character past 40.
I recently passed devotion 3.. I have leveled every killer to level 50 prestiging my favourite Killers sometimes twice.
I leveled up every survivor ingame besides Jane and Yuri to at least to level 41 for their teachables. I've sunk millions of bp into Quinton prestiging and earning almost every perk ingame.
I do use different builds but at a red rank most perks are just not viable. I don't need every perk ingame but its nice to have the option as a luxury.
This was accomplished over two years, leaving the game multiple times when updates broke game and made the experience unplayable at times.
But the majority of my bp was earned by playing killer earning between 20-30k bp each game. Using BBQ and chilli I leave with 40-60k a game without an offering and obviously more with one.
Playing during a bloodhunt I can score over around 100k a game. But much like survivor not every perk is viable at red ranks and BBQ is one of those in IMO.
You also can't compare a single player campaign to online multiplayer. MMORPG is basically a online campaign and people play those games for years as well to achieve everything ingame.
But to conclude, I just don't want to see this game go down the route that payday 2 has.
It was the most challenging multiplayer experience I've played but as the years passed they ruined what made the game enjoyable by focusing on making the game easier to play and to level.
When you heard a guitar riff you knew that the infamous player joining was experienced. But much like playing red rank survivor in dbd it doesn't mean anything when the population is boosted.

This game has a high ceiling which can be frustrating at first but you will find that it's what makes the game rewarding and a worthwhile experience overall.
With nothing really unlocked on your profile, I would play support and run Dwight..
Prove thyself gives you twice the points for working a gen with another player. Working two gens counts as four gens completed and gives a iridescent emblem.
Bond gives you the location of other survivors to capitalize on prove thyself. It also helps with earning altruism and passively gives information when playing solo regarding chases and if another user is going for an unhook.
With your last two perk slots you can now equip your Meg/David exhaustion perks and start earning bp more efficiently.
My critism is that you don't watch dbd content creators or play killer regularly enough to understand perk builds or how to optimize your playing experience.
You say that this game should be targeting a younger audience?
When this game became a plus title on ps4 the community really went downhill on playstation because of the influx of teens and kids who now play the game.
The toxicity is on another level because of their petty behavior and attitudes.
I also don't agree that they would bring more revenue to the game.
Newer players boast about spending the ingame currency "shards" on dlc characters. Then have the audacity to complain about the price of licensed killers.
You keep referencing halo but Black Ops is a much more successful game with a larger playerbase because you aren't limited to a vanilla experience.
Players grind to earn weapons hidden behind crates, earning new experiences and adding longevity to the game.
It's great that you enjoy the game but it honestly sounds like you are not here for the long haul.

PS4 Game updates are released Tuesday.. so it possible another game was updated or was downloading at the time securing the space needed for the dbd update.
Also if you have a bunch or game recordings they can take up a lot of hd space and are easily forgotten about.
You can check your hd storage in the system tab.
First party PlayStation titles don't have this issue but third party games such as cod/ dbd/ etc require twice the game space to update.
You can always pick up an external HD for your ps4.
Two terabytes costs around $100 Canadian and is more than enough space for all your games.
Games downloaded to the external HD can be used on multiple ps4's as long as the account that purchased the title is the account playing the game.
Anyways I hope this helped, the external hd is just a suggestion.
Catch you the fog my dude.

I'm on PS4 (Don't know if that matters) and my hotfix litteraly haves 25GB. Can someone explain me what the ######### happened? Optimization that was not mentioned? Devs answer?
When your PS4 downloads a game update, it's only downloading the changes to the game.
But to install it.. The ps4 copies the original game data, and adds the patch in the process.
This process requires twice the space because the PS4 duplicates the original game install before replacing it.
The PS4 does this to prevent file corruption.

This game is rated mature 17+
The other mother is basically the witch from Hansel and Gretel.
Mrs. Trunchbull isn't a killer but a child's monstrous imagination of a strict disciplinarian.
The Grinch is depressed and the gingerbread man isn't evil in the least bit.. His legs are broken off and he still doesn't spill the beans about the muffin man.
Tbh these suggestions are way too campy for dbd imo

How do you rate a player's skill level in this game?
Sacrifices? Bloodpoints? Number of hooks?
Sure's there's a difference between a 4k Nurse and a 4k Trapper. And also you should take add-ons in consideration. I'm a trash Huntress, but I have one bazzillion Iridescent Heads. If I start to usem them to win match after match, will the system understand me as a skillful player?
How would you identify a skilled survivor (remember, an automatic system relies on numbers and statistics to generate a result)? Escapes? Just hide all match and take hatch with Left Behind. Altruism? Well, that's basically the only way to make good points as survivor since ever.
I am very curious about how this new system's gonna work.
Most likely SPM (score per minute) total match time divided by points earned will decide your skill rating.
I can't be certain but it's the simplest approach ✌

The first two versions seem too strong.
The third suggestion is great idea but much too long.
The wraith bell goes bing bong.. I couldn't help myself
Good stuff @NMCKE 💪

You parted out the character, earning access to the perks earlier without saving up the 9000 shards for the complete dlc.
I purchased all of the spirit perks from the shrine last year but I also bought the shattered bloodline dlc pack a few weeks ago for $7.99 because it really isn't that expensive.
There is honestly no reason for a survivor splinter because survivors have no powers. The splinter would just be a perkless teammate and a handicap to the other 3 players on your team.
The "play before you purchase" argument isn't that strong either as every character and cosmetic is available to preview in the store.
And whatever currency is spent on the rift is basically returned to you by completing the rift gradually.. leaving you more than enough coin's to purchase Jane before the rift comes to a close ✌

Cruel Limits needs to be paired with Tinkerer while playing as a killer who can one shot from my experience.
Pairing both perks together (CL&T) with a map offering such as strode/ lery's.. you can get value out of the perk but it's too situational and not very good 🤷🤷🤷
Bamboozle is much better, as you can shutdown a strong loop such as the killer shack quickly.
I personally don't use Bamboozle on clown as he gives off a large sound cue while vaulting.
But it can be good on demogorgon as it hard for survivors to hear the bamboozle sound effect over his chase music ✌

Tbh the game is easy for survivors.. and with no feeling of accomplishment in succeeding, most dbd players get their thrills being poor winners imo

Check out Smashen..
He streams daily, plays every killer, reaches rank 1 every reset and regularly uses suggested builds without asking for donations.
The channel is still growing, so he interacts with the chat and responds to comments regularly.
He is a bright spot and hidden gem in this community. His demogorgon is p3 💪
Hey nice that you found here! You can call me Smashen. I am a 26 year old German guy that really likes YouTube (too much) and also Dead by Daylight. For the ...You can also find him on twitch.

camping and tunneling is a viable strat.. when the game starts the survivors have all the momentum until one of them dies. Once that happens the tide begins to shift into the killers favour.
