The Huge Grind

Let's be honest. In a recent Q&A, they said Bloodpoints are meant to give players a sense of reward—which is why they cut back on point-boosting offerings, reduced matchmaking bonuses, and so on. But come on, does anyone actually feel rewarded in this game? Seriously, we have nearly 100 characters, and new ones are released every quarter; you don't even have time to level up the new ones—or the ones you already like—before more are on the way. I don't know if it's just me, but I play about two hours a day (or less)—which sometimes feels like a lot—yet I still feel like I'm falling behind. Above all, I don't see any real progress; you spend a huge amount of time playing, and without point-boosting offerings, you barely see any change. I think it's high time they changed how points are distributed in this game. If it’s discouraging for someone like me who has been playing since 2018, imagine what it’s like for a beginner.

  • Shrine of secrets should offer more than 4 perks per week.

At very least make it 3-3 perk per week

  • I'd be more okay with it if we had more than Blood Moon and Anniversary to rely on. Halloween and Winter events need to give way more BP.

  • the blood points recently seemed to have been cut in half. I mean someone stated they only got 307 because they were tunneled out. Two weeks ago in a match without winning got me in the high 20,000, now barely 15,000. I use to be able to play one day about three hours and have enough to level up one character but now it’s like forever. They need to fix it and offer bonuses better ones. It is free for gods sake.

  • I have over a thousand hours and the survivor builds that require epic and Iridescent addons, even on my P100 Nick Cage and P50 Ash Williams are kind of despicable in time requirement ngl.. P50 Ash Williams and if I want to run a build with a brand new part for one day I use half of my brand new parts… unreasonably disrespectful of people who don't have hundreds of hours to play for items.

  • I'll be honest, I have been sitting on 200k+ shards for years and keep reaching 5M BPs without noticing simply because I have nothing to spend those currencies on. You know that there is no real point in P100ing any character, right? And it takes like one day to gain enough BPs for a P3. We've effortlessly been swimming in bloodpoints since like 2023 or whatever year they decided to reduce the price of blood nodes and increase emblem BP rewards.

  • if bhvr cared about new players they would:

remove perk tiers, keeping only purple tier and make it so teachables are unlocked at character purchase instead of being gated by prestige.

I kind of agree with you but for newer survivors obtaining perks and P1ing survivors is like the only progression offered (unless you consider the extremely mediocre prestige rewards progression) … there's no reason to pick up more than one survivor total other than their perks, and that would shed too much light on the reality that survivor is bland as a role, there's no individual variation between them they are just shells for perks.

  • I just wish BHVR put more focus into what we already have. There's so much really cool current content that just feels left behind.

Its already problem most survivor perks too situational and constantly nerfed , and they dont have powers like killer

I mean TBF Survivor shouldn't have powers like killer… that's not how the game is setup to work, and survivor perks should be notably weaker than killer perks but they just haven't really given survivor anything to work towards progression wise, that's why i was commenting on the perk rarity.

this 100000 percent, we need more focus on what makes the game awesome. More viable and interactive killers (add QoL to spirit for goodness sake for hard of hearing and no headphone players and fix Houndmaster bugs) and more ways to play survivor (invocations and teamwork perks are like :stare:)

Fix the netcode as well would go such a long long looooong way (the survivor client sided interactions are an amazing start, cant wait for killer)

So much could be refined to make this game from a good game to an amazing game, idk why it's so hard to understand polish goes a long way.

It's just always handled so poorly it's the execution which is the issue, the QoL initiative is a great example of that and it all stems from really poor communication at times when it counts, I do think they are improving though, but just keep communicating there is no harm in that, can also just clarify if they get something wrong.

  • It's kind of laughable that if someone buys all the characters in the game up front they're signing up for a 110 million bloodpoint grind just to have all the perks at level 1 on all characters and players are still earning bloodpoints on average at less than 100k per game.

It's really rough for people who are buying the game right now so they have no anniversary cakes and many players have ran out of their cakes as well, and the really good bloodpoint earning events are several months away.

Even if a player manages to average 100k bloodpoints per game and they're looking at 1,100 games. Estimating 10 minutes per game, they're looking at 183.3 hours of gameplay to earn that 110 million. That's just the estimated time spent in matches without including time spent waiting in the lobby & elsewhere. It's probably much closer or over 1,000 hours counted by Steam or your console to actually get that 110 million bloodpoints.

Seems like an excellent reason for newer players to not buy everything when they first discover DbD if they think logically rather than emotionally while the novelty is still fresh.

For new survivor the logical way to play:

Kindred/Bond + Deja Vu + Lithe + WOO (only 2 perks needed to unlock and all of those relatively easy to do so) . Maybe DS can be considered as well but thats common perk now

In fact logically speaking after this they better off dumping all their BP into one character the rest of perks doesn't provide consistent value for soloq for most part . The items they get better use than perks

Why would anyone spent more than 500 dollars on characters before even opening the game, and why would they buy basically free characters like clown, blight and whatever? But anyways, remove perk tiers

I very much doubt a player is parting with $500 to get all that though. I think 3 things happen.

    1. The player can afford it,
    2. they're in the novelty phase of the game and love DbD which partially overrides logical thought and
    3. it's on sale, usually 30-50% off for anything over a year old.

When this trifecta occurs some rare whales will buy everything and many others might not buy all of it but will buy multiple bundles/DLCs at once.

Also as one gets older the time is more valuable than money is.

When some says "free" but you need to grind thousand hours, or just if we talk about 9000 shards for one "FREE" character, it is needed what, like 45 hours grind? While costing what few euro or dollar, actually less than a hour wage. So whats cheaper grinding 45 hours of your time, or buying it if you really want?
