Why does Sprint Burst still exhaust me for 40 seconds? You nerfed it. The number should be lower

Why am I'm getting the same exhaust time even though I'm getting lower value? And before anybody says it's just "one second", do you know how many chases have been decided by one second? I can't count the number of times I wouldn't have got hit through my vault if I just had one more second. I can't count the number of times I would have won a chase if I just had one more second to make it to a pallet. I don't know. Feels like the exhaust time should be lower since we're getting less value.

  • We don't need to give compensation buffs for things that get nerfed in the same way buffs do not need compensation nerfs.

Sprint Burst was the best exhaustion perk by a mile because it provided the same value as other exhaustion perks while not having a restriction of note. You always had it regardless of map or tile location. It deserved the nerf it got.

  • Since Sprint Burst is the only exhaustion perk that you have to waste unless you want to walk around all game, I'm inclined to agree.

But if I had to guess, I think BHVR eventually intend for all exhaustion perks to give haste for only 2 seconds. Sprint Burst is just the first casualty. I think they are possibly just testing the waters to see how people react to the SB nerf, before going ahead with nerfing the rest in upcoming patches.

I've already switched over to Lithe (despite not liking it) because SB is now one of the worst exhaustion perks imo. But if they do go ahead and nerf the others, I'd probably go back to SB.

We do. It's called balance. In what world is two seconds of haste worth 40 seconds of exhaustion?

Sprint Burst is on demand. You can use it anywhere when needed. If you want 3 seconds of hate you have options like Lithe and Balanced Landing to consider instead.

Also giving buffs for nerfs is not innately balanced. It is perfectly fine to nerf things that are too strong with needing to give them buffs.

Feel like the idea behind survivor perks to be extremely situational and niche so anything that has consistent value will be constantly nerfed.

I sure most of already noticed new perks do X and Y and Z , and the reward less than the effort and usually once per game or only for few seconds, everything designed around top 1% SWF, what if they use it

I love the boon that's worse than Deja Vu. :)

  • Because SB is insane?

It's a nerf long comin and very much justified. And i say that as a nonstop SB user for the last years.

Insane? I see we're getting our talking points from the content creators now. SB was a solid good, but nothing so over the top in needed to nerfed. Did it really bother killers that much just to put in a little effort? Anyways, 40 seconds of exhaustion for 2 seconds of haste makes a trash perk. At least Drama gave you a chance at something extra.

Few years ago it was fine and dead hard was the insane one, the goalposts are moving. I can bet a year from now on lithe will be the insane one

BHVR isn't really interested in balancing certain perks as much as nuking them. They've done it in the past and will almost certainly do it again in the future. That was the fate of SB.

The game isn't the same as it was a few years ago. A few years ago 'Thrill of the Hunt' being nerfed would be laughable. Apples and Oranges, friends.

That was a rather cruel dismissal for someone just disagreeing with you - also, people are permitted to think something is insane without it being from a CC, you realize?

And as a killer main I can tell you I didn't mind SB. If I saw someone had it, I just 100% ignored them the rest of the game and got to kill a pool of 3 people instead of 4. If two have SB, I just kill the two who don't. It often resulted in better games for me, as it turned SB into a perk that effectively said 'tunnel whoever isn't me as I run off.'

SB Was an issue because people could trigger it in any condition from a 99%. 40 seconds of of exhaustion for 2 seconds of haste is fine, given you can just run vigil to cut the timer down. You're not supposed to be running a marathon with your haste, it's supposed to be a situational trigger.

Exhaust only exists to trigger a handful of perks anyway, so what it's 'worth' isn't really grounded. If you don't think 40:2 is 'worth' it, then don't run it. Run Lithe. Run Perfect landing. Run Dead hard. Run something that is 'worth' the exhaust.

I feel like that's the aim behind a lot of nerfs, tbh. It's not about keeping a perk useful, BHVR just want players to stop using it altogether.

It's probably not so much about addressing a balance issue as it is about making the community's loudest complainers shut up for a few weeks. I don't blame them, tbh. We do complain A LOT.

Balance is weird in DBD, anyway. We have Killers like Nurse, Blight (and now The Judgement) that are only really "balanced" by their incredibly high skill floors. But for any player that can clear that barrier and get good, pretty much every lobby they'll go up against will fold like a deckchair and we see very good players go on some massive win steaks. And yet on the other end of the scale we have Trapper, a guy that can step in his own traps and has to walk around the map to collect his power. There's nothing remotely balanced about that. I feel that as long as very powerful Killers exist, then Survivors need to have access to equally strong perks to have much of a chance of surviving against them.

It's not trash, just not the best choice anymore. It's an excellent exhaustion perk for beginners now, that gets outclassed by better perks scaling with your skill as survivor.

Sprintburst was never fine. It was on par with old dead hard and even easier to use back then.

  • Is it weaker? Yes. Did it still save me multiple times in different games. Also Yes….feels a little weird now but its still good
