Isnt the Judgement overly oppressive with aura builds on certain maps?

Based on my matches against her, I would say no. I can see the beam quite far away so I know where to dodge and when. Midwitch is a little trickier at least for me but on the game, Hawkins and RPD, I have had some good matches against her on Survivor.
I think for this clip in particular, part of it is probably the MMR changes put you with some baby survivors, it's happened to me a lot. But that's only part of it, if they weren't baby survivors I'm sure you still would have gotten one or two of the hits. I do personally think that some of the aura builds are a bit too oppressive, you aren't even using her aura reading addons which I honestly think make builds like this definitely too much.
Midwich is the only map where she feels super oppressive, then again Middwich is great for every killer. The only other indoor maps she feels good on is The Game and Hawkins imo.
I think the MMR reset is the only reason why I am currently performing decently on Judgement, ngl. Whenever I get someone that starts actually reacting I am having a rough time
The new system already collected data. So it is highly unlikely that they are really baby Survivors.
@Topic:
Based on that clip I would rather blame it as inexperience against The Judgment. Because they apparently did not realize that trying to pick the Survivors on the ground up will not really work out. (Or they have given up at this point)
But personally, I can see the Killer being very oppressive when Killer players learned her. And to be honest, yesterday I ended playing DBD rather quickly, because going against Judgment has to be one of my least enjoyable experiences ever in this game. I dont think I ever had less fun playing DBD and this includes things like OG Legion. I am dreading the day Killer players become really good with her, but I also hope that many just give up. That a bunch of Survivor Perks dont work against her (especially those of the few good ones) does not make it better.
And it was not really on results, I escaped most of the games, but the experience was just miserable.
I think mastery should be rewarded, which inevitably is "oppressive". See really good Blights or Nurses that roll you.
My assumption is though that she will be much more rare and weaker honestly, because her main selling point right now is survivors not paying attention. I have both played as and against her, and I think her long range potential against people that actually pay attention*ahemm* is pretty neutered since the global vision changes. I had no trouble knowing where she is and where the beam will come from.
I have seen plenty of people not react at all though, I think many really dont pay attention (yet)
I mean, this is only my subjective opinion anyway. Different people dislike different Killers, e.g. I have seen people on the Forum claiming that BIlly is their least favourite Killer to go against, despite him being a generally liked Killer to play against. And I dont really care about losing to Blights or Nurses, even if they are really good. But Judgment has to be the most unenjoyable experience for me so far.
And as I said, I escaped most of my games against her. Granted, not sure if this would be the same case in two weeks or so, because she has a steep learning curve and I guess she will be one of the more rare Killers to go against in the future.
But my gripe with her is simply that she is not fun to verse at all. And it will probably be worse over time, since she will become more rare, but better players will be playing her. For example, I really dislike the Exile. It is not fun at all to be there, even if you have more to do than just hanging on the Hook. And that it disables a bunch of Survivor Perks is also not great. Mainly Deliverance, DS, Resurgence, We Will Make It and Shoulder the Burden, which are some of the good ones. But since Survivors dont have many good Perks, it is a big chunk of them. Sure, Judgement can also not use some Perks, but Killers have a bigger variety and in general, since not all Killers are the same, some are better on some while others are worse. And, the big thing is: A Killer always knows which Character they will play, the Survivors dont know that.
And unlike PH (the closest to compare in that regard), you end up in the Exile far more often than in a Cage. In all the games I played, I have only seen one regular Hook done by The Judgment.
Personally, the Chapter is a big miss for me. I dont like any aspect on it, I dont like the Killer and I dont like the Survivor and her Perks. And I will certainly not bother playing the Killer, simply because I dont really play Killers anymore which I dont enjoy. If I want a Killer to win most of the time, I will just play Nurse. And so I will just take a few days break and hope that less people play her by then. Because Survivor is not enjoyable and I wont play Killer with those queuetimes either.
But again, this is only my personal and highly subjective opinion. I am happy for every player who likes the new Chapter and has fun with or against The Judgment.
I think that might just be a purely subjective misalignment, yeah. I am having a blast versing her and playing her, although I think it is a tad too easy even, if I keep track of where the last beam came from I know the rough angles the next beam could come from and dodging it is rather easy if you know that.
That some perks dont work is I think cool, it introduces build challenges for both her and survivors. Judgements play almost like full aura reading huntresses because they can not rely on a lot of the strongest perks, as Pain Resonance, Grim Embrace, BBQ, Friends till the End,…. are all bound to hooking people. Anticamp and anti tunnel perks are really not needed against her because of her innate design that I can get someone out at different statues that the killer doesnt have aura on and I have a mini borrowed time from the minigame of collecting faces in the exile instead of having to wait for an unhook. It keeps my tiktok brain busy.
So all in all, we have very much diametrically opposed opinions on this. I think she will fade into obscurity soonish because of the changes from PTB to live , but I don't think she is boring per se to play against or play as.
I had a match against The Judgment this morning. I was seeing their aura a lot, mainly when they were readying their divine light. I'm not sure if that's an add-on or a basekit thing. But they also ran Deerstalker. So any time they readied their power, they'd reveal their aura and thus would see any Survivors they were aiming at. That seems a little oppressive to me.
Keep in mind because Aurora is new as well, many people run her perks, one of which reveals the killers to all survivors when the survivor with Auroras perk is in chase, which in turn with deerstalker reveals all of you for a bit.
This is not oppressive per se and just an unfortunate interaction of people running the new perk for testing+adept. It is like running no mither against an Oni or Dredge
No one ran Aurora's perks in this match. This Judgment had a full aura-reading build, on top of whatever it was that revealed its aura throughout the match, increasing its Deerstalker value. If you want, here's the full build.
Judgment - Lethal, Deerstalker, Gearhead, Nurse's (Add-ons: Electric Torch, Crown of the Destroyer)
Dwight (My build) - Desperate Measures, Do No Harm, Soul Guard, Kindred
Leon - Boil Over, Dead Hard, Iron Will, Resilience
Maria - Saboteur, Plot Twist, Breakout, Background Player
Daryl - Vigil, Head On, Dance With Me, Quick & Quiet
I run full aura on her and find it's very rewarding - until I find a surv who actually dodges. Any survivor paying attention dodges my beams with ease, and there's absolutely nothing I can do about it. I move too slowly to pressure outside of the beams, which means paying attention and dodging isn't a counter for Judgment, it's a hard counter.
So, no. I wouldn't say full aura is oppressive. I would say it's annoying for survivors to stay on edge and dodge every laser cooldown, but so long as they do so it's basically an assured win.
I have seen this being said but my experience over about 20 games entirely on survivor yesterday was that I went against a significant portion of killers who were absolutely new to the game (probably 8 or 9, none of which were using DLC characters) and then a few that curb stomped the lobby badly with P100, MMR is absolutely shaken up, there are other posts about it too… I am definitely NOT in the highest MMR bracket but the survivors and killers I was with on occasion were definitely in the lowest.
Also, so far the judgement has been okay but her perk Hex: Under Your Thumb is ABYSMAL, how are they gutting vigil because of too much value across the board and then adding this to the game… 15%…? Balanced Landing doesn't even work with this Hex active you still get briefly slowed from falling and then only get 115% movement speed… you gain almost no distance which is TERRIBLE against movement killers, its like unplayable how bad that is, combine that with hindered from wesker, or trying to evade a myers dash, or anything that would see maximum value from an exhaustion perk. TOTH still exists right now, even though it is getting reworked. this perk is actually Horrible, worst single perk experience in recent memory.
I’m a killer main myself thousands of hours and it sucks seeing them blatantly lie and say that she isn’t strong or oppressive with aura reading. When I play survivor most of the time it’s Judgement players spamming the power on a series of gens holding 3 or 4 gens. She’s super strong on any indoor map with aura reading. Straight up remove aura reading on the charge of the beam and she’ll be fine.
Man, this is probably one of the worst suggestions I have read so far.
I honestly haven't watched to much content on this killer and for sure aint buying it but i have heard that the aura reading is very OP on them. However i would argue that a lot of killers have something like that.
Wraith (especially silent bell wall hack), myers and ghostface can be overly oppressive on indoor map with aura reading
Huntress (A good one) can be very opressive on an open map with aura reading for cross maps
Blight and nurse in general with aura reading is very oppressive
Henry with aura reading is a force to be reakoned with (bias here because i main him and aura reading on him is just SOOO good)
The point is aura reading may be powerful on this killer but this isn't a new concept at all so it shouldn't really matter
I feel like it’s too soon to tell, as I tend to lean more towards letting things settle for a bit before making any major changes. I personally feel so far if you’re paying close attention the beam gives you enough of a warning to move out the way, even in indoor maps. It can be more difficult if it’s not an open space but map difficulty with and against certain killers/perks is nothing new and part of the rng of the game.
The only thing I personally have noticed that I’m struggling with is how difficult it can be to try and reset health states, especially fresh off the “hook” since you still retain your heresy so tunneling has been pretty common and effective in my games. But again, I’d like to give it more time before any changes are made.
I'm a solo q warrior but I've been trying to take my chances with the new Elusive effect and just book it to the basement to Sable Care. I figure a lot of people are in the honeymoon phase trying things out like Nurses Calling
Ah, that is a good idea. Thank you for the suggestion! Was thinking Shadowstep might also help, at least to be able to heal within it. It should hide auras right?
yeah Shadowstep ain't a bad idea I've faced a couple of those already! Ive just been relying on Object as an early warning detection system but Shadowstep would be a lot nicer
Idk. All I know is ive had 3 matches against her so far and all three we got wrecked. Match ended all all was under 10k points. It was bad.
Like real bad 🤣🤣
I have zero idea what I'm doing in the orher dimension thingy with the light beams
Wallhack by Daylight. ZZzzz
Aura reveal has been too strong for a long time.
It's normalized and accepted hand holding.
My sister and I tested The Judgment in customs in the PTB a LOT. I have Huntress at P100 and use a full aura build on her for snipes, orbitals, and two-taps. Trickster at P55, usually a full aura build for snipes and ricochets, newish with Jason as he's freshly added to the game, but snipes and orbitals with a full aura build. My sister also plays Huntress and Jason with full aura builds. Playing against each other, just paying attention was the strongest counter to long-range snipes. As far as builds, I let go of my comfort blanket Dead Hard knowing that it was going to be Exile, Exile, Exile, no Hooks, and stepped out of my comfort zone - or rather, switched the role of my comfort zone.
Object of Obsession - who cares about the aura read every 30 seconds because again, your best counter is paying attention. The big thing is if they're constantly seeing you with auras, you're constantly seeing them, and you'll know if they're aiming at you.
Boon: Shadow Step - hard counter for aura reading, bonus for no scratch marks. Hides the 30 second mark aura read from Object.
Extrasensory Perception - huge radius to see where the Killer and basically everything else is (including totems to boon), but also grants Elusive at-will. Use if you absolutely must cancel the 30 second aura read from Object and there's not a locker nearby, or really any other time you need to just disappear (and/or get info) for a moment.
Fourth perk is dealer's choice, I found several good ones. You could bring Circle of Healing to combine with Shadow Step. Inner Focus would give you even more Aura reading on the Killer (10 seconds every time the Killer deals a health state to any Survivor), and seeing your teammates' scratch marks can help you find someone if you need a heal (or need to heal them). Since you're blessing totems anyway, Overzealous would give you a 10% repair speed bonus (20% if it was a Hex totem). Eyes of Belmont to add 2 seconds to your aura reads on the Killer.
Point is, there's a LOT you can do, and I think a lot of the, "The Killer is overpowered, aura builds are oppressive," sentiment is largely coming from the Killer being new and people still learning how to play against them (the same thing that happens ANY time a new Killer is added to the game), and because of the way the Killer's power works, playing against someone who uses it effectively may very well require stepping away from a comfort build (or set of comfort builds), which I feel a lot of people would rather not do…
Haha, no worries on the delete thing. But I appreciate the in depth response! These are great suggestions. I like to give stuff time to breathe a bit before changing anything, both for playing as and against. So I’m not on the OP camp or the Weak camp.
I do agree this killer is super unique and does require a bit of branching out for counters, which is a good thing! I tend to try and stay away from full counter builds though, only because it’s one of like .. what 49 killers in the game? And if the only way I can ever survive decently against them is to have a very specific perk set up, then I don’t think that’s a good thing. And I’m not saying the judgement is like that , I think it’s simply too soon to know. But I was struggling with finding ways to reset and so it seems like hiding my aura is the best way to do it, and thankfully everyone’s provided some great suggestions to do so. Thank you! Looking forward to trying it all out.
Hard agree on letting things settle, and completely understand not wanting to run a dedicated build. I usually like running a healing build + Dead Hard because… comfort blanket, and it's a universally useful build
until I load in against Plague or Legion, and then I cry a bit and play perkless, minus the Dead Hard. If I wanted to not change my entire build, maybe just Object or Shadow Step, or combine them. Either of them is a really good way to counter aura reads, it's extremely rare that I run against any Killer not running at least one aura perk.Ultimately, run whatever ends up working for you! We both just found avoiding snipes easiest (and chases/games in general a lot more fun) running 'counter-auras'.
wow they were so lazy they can't hear or see the big beam coming from the same direction.
You're right! Windows of Opportunity encourages bad behavior. People path like bots from pallet to pallet just pre-dropping and running without actually learning pallet and window spawns or how to loop well. We should rework it into something else entirely and just keep Five Moves Ahead, since chase is when you need to see where the resources are anyway, it gives you an actually beneficial effect in its increased pallet drop speed, and the cooldown means people have to remember where those resources were, so they eventually become part of muscle memory instead of them running chase on autopilot.
I mean…
This is literally a character whose primary strength revolves around locating and hitting survivors from large distances away, to the point that she is borderline useless inside of 10m. What build did people think she was going to run? Haste? She can't even run full hook builds effectively. So her options are… what? Full regress, or Aura?
Which of these would we rather see on a Judgment? She doesn't have a whole lot of other options available that would make sense, so of course she runs heavy aura.
Why has no one been talking about running Blast Mine with Residual Manifest… (and Distortion and Shadow Step)
I'm having so much fun hard countering this killer's #1 build.
I may try out the mine combo tonight! I myself do kinda like Oppression+ Lay Waste my only concern is if the Judgment chooses to speedrun the game and 1 hook us all. I've had a few games I literally can't even use the addons that regress once you hit 4 fresh hooks because I've been sacrificing all 4 survivors simultaneously. I pray that's mmr being weird because I promise I'm not that insane on anybody else
Unless they're REALLY good with predictive beaming then most times when they try to beam you on a gen don't work out too well since you have enough time to react. It's also kind of a waste of time on their end and has the side effect of essentially telegraphing their position on the map at all times, whatever is gained from attempting to hit people off gens isn't really worth how much time you lose out on.
Midwich is especially good map for her and rpd there is not much room to dodge her beam. With aura buold she sees almost everywhere. She can hunt you while also guarding the gens. This is my experience so far. On normal outside maps she much easier to play agains't.
