Lobby shoppers

Will something ever be done about serial lobby dodgers? Because I'm starting to become familiar with about a dozen of them, they're practically familiar strangers at this point.

From what I can tell, the main cause for it is the fact that there seems to be quite an alarmingly large number of PC players that have this superiority complex over console players, it might be a good idea to just remove the globe icon if it's possible.

Comments

  • It is always the guys who play Ace. Often comp or comp wannabe types. I also can name a handful of these guys. Sometimes I will run into them several times in a single session.

  • If killers can lobby shop, I don't see why survivors can't.

If anything, its more important to vet your teammates.

Or they could turn crossplay off and stop wasting my, and many other people's time

Except you don't even know why people dodge, there are plenty of reasons for it.

You only get matched with other people who've selected the option, so you're basically never getting into a match.

What does crossplay have to do with it though? People will dodge low hour players on the same platform, not just globes.

  • I've noticed a couple of people who do this. At first, I thought they were dodging me, but then I realised their Steam profiles are full of comments about it.

I'm all for dodging lobbies for valid reasons, but these serial dodgers should face some sort of timeout if they do it continuously.

  • There is one person who always dodges any annon in my region, its kinda funny because i play annon and know they leaving as soon as i load in 😂

  • Will something ever be done about the nonfunctional matchmaking? Because until something is done about it, I’m going to find a new lobby whenever I get paired with literal brand new players, which happens all the time. The best was earlier this week when I matched with a default skin Nea whose Steam profile showed zero hours in the game. As long as BHVR refuse to fix their matchmaking system, I’m fine with people taking it into their own hands.

  • I don't lobby shop for the most part but I do have criteria for it. I absolutely will do anything and everything I can to avoid bad teammates. And it still doesn't amount to much.

    1. if you don't bring items (biggest red flag)
    2. default outfit
    3. 3 stack w/ flashlights
  • There is zero good reason why the lobby exists in the first place if this game wants to have an actual functioning MMR based matchmaking system. All the pregame lobby does is encourage lobby dodging which causes backfill which throws the whole MMR system out of the window. Not only is it slower than just sending people straight into a match, it leads to worse match quality as well.

The pregame lobby is such an outdated waste of time feature that only makes the game worse in my opinion. Especially now that you can see ally perks in-game, outside of social stuff which again rarely happens due to crossplay, what's the point? Sure you can chat with teammates before the game, and that's fun sometimes, but for killers literally all you can do is sit and wait for the match to start, adapt your build to whatever people bring, stalk profiles to see if players are SWF or dodge lobby. I don't bother with any of that, I just ready up in every single lobby I enter no matter what because I just want the match to start and wish the stupid lobby wasn't a thing in the first place.

Why not just let matchmaking find 5 players, have them all press an "Accept match" button, and then once all 5 accept, you go straight to loading into the match? We can skip the offering screen too in my opinion. Gameplay offerings are hidden now, and seeing what BP offerings people brought is hardly worth waiting like 10 extra seconds before every match. Is the game even loading stuff for the match during the offering screen? I bet it isn't, which wastes even more time.

But I doubt they'll change it anytime soon. I personally don't get why they don't, it would be such an easy way to massively decrease time between matches and improve matchmaking quality. The only thing is people would have to get used to is that the queue itself would be a tiny bit longer, and that they had to be ready to actually accept a match once they found one. It would be so much better and it's lame that they haven't changed it already.

  • I think the bigger issue is backfilling, which tends to take whoever is available, regardless of MMR.

The issue is if you dont backfill with how current lobbies are, some people have potential to be waiting for a game forever because they have potential to be dodged, Even if the game spent the time finding someone in correct MRR.

  • I've seen the same guy dodge 100% of the lobbies just because there was no Renato in the group - based on the player's name. I've seen them atleast 10 times lol never played with them before.

  • They could add a cooldown timer of joining lobbies if you have several times backout of them in short period.

That happens regardless of whether it’s a backfill lobby or not

It also drives me nuts when people refuse to bring items. They’re just purposely making the game more difficult for no reason. They’re free to do that if they want, but I’m also free to go find a different teammate who actually cares about helping the team win.

Honestly, id be ok with this. Its kinda like the map offering change... it sucks on afew cases but overall makes for a healthier game.

They might be doing challenges where they need to do chests, escape with an item found in-game, etc. Or were sacrificed last trial and neglected to equip another.

  • Xbox players: What's anonymous mode? 🤔

I too would like to see this tested out, see the effect on matchmaking quality over time.

Killer should be still able to see items, but that's it. No names, profiles, skins, none of it.

  • The worst are the ones that let the timer run down then dodge. Just adding malice to the selfishness.

I'm not a fan of lobby shopping, because it's unfair by design. Backfill is so abysmal that you consigning that lobby and all the other players in it to an unbalanced game. It doesn't sit right with me. I play anon as well and I'm pretty sure I've been dodged due to that.

See I play default Dwight with just his perks and a uni - because I'm an Xbox player however people can't see I've got 2000+ hours in the game and know what I'm doing. I feel like we should be able to quick access stats like that for console players so you can tell when someone is just posing as a baby for misdirection etc as that is the sole reason I do it haha get the killer all over confident in lobby

You can still bring an item and do those things, so that’s not a legit excuse IMO. Most of the time when I ask people, they either say “I don’t feel like it” or “I’m saving them” which LOL ok they usually have like 300 of those items they will never use. I really am not interested in playing with teammates like that.

Nea and Ace for me or Iron maiden t-shirts who seem to look for other iron maiden t-shirts (Which is funny coz probably none of them even care about it)

  • I don't see how people can judge everybody else's hours anyway. Most of your teammates are going to be on the different platform, which means you can't check their profiles. And about half of the people on your platform are going to have their profiles private, so you can't check their hours either. So you'll only be able to see the hours for what, one-tenth of the players?

Honestly I don't see why the pre-game lobby even needs to exist. Let people ready up, then send us to a loading screen and then into the match.
