lmfao i stand corrected, my bad for giving bhvr the benefit of the doubt

It makes sense as tell me any other perk that Wraith can use to damage or explode a gen while he is cloaked? He can't hook survivors cloaked so that removes Pain Resonance. He can't damage survivors while cloaked so any thing that would cause gen to explode because of damage or downing is also off the table. Turn Back the Clock is the only perk in the game Wraith can use while cloaked that explodes a gen. So it would make sense that if he uses that add-on he de-cloaks after using the perks ability.

And to the op its not anyway op in my opinion as he can only use it near gens or with line of sight to one. If survivors know he has the combo they can play that against him.

I mean he is undetectable when cloaked so by the time you hear him he hits you,I didn't say it was op,I asked if it is balanced,do you think it is fine?

  • I think it's fine. TBtC has a condition that needs to be earned and Wraith isn't out there oppressing the game.

Wraith is not totally invisible and there is ways to detect him. Its also healthy for Wraith itself because it gives one more build to use on him. Its maybe the biggest thing they did for him for ages to let it work how it works. If he is that close to get a hit with it usually he would have got that hit anyway by blocking you on the gen.

I think the point is more that Turn Back the Clock is the first instance of a perk that Wraith can trigger while cloaked, that wouldn’t uncloak him otherwise.

With a grab triggering Eruption, you’re immediately put into the carry state, which would uncloak you anyway.

He does not get a speed increase at all. He is the speed that he is in his cloaked state and when he decloaks he drops back to his normal speed. He does not get the normal after decloak speed buff at all when he decloaks because of the Serpent add-on. He also does not get the normal slowdown that he gets when he is decloaking either.

The carry uncloaks wraith, not the locker check. I doubt they want to deal with invisible carry animations anymore since it just adds to making flashlight saves harder. OG Freddy was the last killer with that specific interaction and they've never done it sense.

Yes, but that’s the point, is it not?

This interaction with the perk and add-on just reveal how it always worked, but we never saw, because these things usually happen at the same time.

    That’s what I said, no?

  • Fine... ill use a different example.

Still Eruption, except it activates from a survivor not mending

  • I've always thought this was a cheesy, ridiculous synergy. Serpent is a brown addon so it shouldn't become meta when combined with an already meta perk.

The only reason this is an intended effect is to sell more Stranger Things 2 DLCs as Turn Back The Clock is currently the biggest P2W perk in the game.

It actually doesnt. It requires a survivor to enter the dying state... thats it. A survivor could plot twist and activate it.

Yeah checking some older pictures of the old description and seems the current description in the game itself is wrong but I will do some testing when I get my friend to have some time to see how things interact for my own curiousity and see if there is something other to report there. Need to report that description to be wrong though.

Im looking at the ingame description now and can definitely see your point. Unlike infectious fright which says "whenever a survivor is downed", eruption says ""when you down a survivor".

    The wiki makes no specifications

  • People forget that you can use dissolution with serpent soot and the beast soot together and force uncloak whenever a survivor vaults a pallet. Not as effective as this combo probably, because you’re required to injure someone then cloak for the effect to work. But it basically makes it impossible to win a 50/50 on a pallet if you drop it without a stun.

I haven’t seen any wraith players running turn back the clock like this yet, but it doesn’t sound terribly overpowered or anything. Does he instantly get his extended swing, or does it just uncloak him?

I always like finding neat perk combos that synergize well with specific killers as long as its not TOO broken. PWYF was really good at giving ppl a reason to play Bubba before his rework for example. Anything to get ppl to expand away from the same 4 perks that are universally useful on every killer.

  • @Vergiveren said:

Yh i hate this combo too. Made a post about it when ST vecna was released.

Unfortunately devs decided it was fine and instead of nerfing it changed the perk/addon description to make it legit.

I still think it's a super cheese ball combo. I tried it out in a match once to see how busted it was. I could literally uncloak mid chase with no slowdown if tbtc was active and i had a gen in los.

Yeah thats why I said I was comparing old images of the perk because I wanted to see how it was writen in the game itself. That wiki is good but the problem with it is always the fact that they rewrite the perk descriptions how they are in the code. Still if you want to know how they are writen in the game you have to check that in the game itself or if you want to see the old descriptions I found easiest to use google image search as there is a lot of pictures taken of perk descriptions so can see the old descriptions and even in the old ingame one it stated that it activated "when survivor enters the dying state" no killer interaction required. I will make a report about it after I get to test out this for my own curiosity and get some footage and logs for it.

I use that wiki myself but have to admit that its keepers should include the ingame descriptions too because sometimes they write the perk to include something that is in it by accident or bug like its meant to be there. Thats why I do prefer the ingame descriptions as they are usually what devs meant it to do but after the rewrites of the descriptions there has been few errors like this.

  • It's a great combo for wraith but limited in usage due to the hooking requirement of "Turn Back The Clock". I think it feels fine, especially if the survivors are aware of it.

Alot of times you cant tell if something is suppose to happen or its a bug. When Jason's deputy badge was hitting regressing gens... i legit wasn't sure since surge, eruption and pain res can ALSO hit regressing gens. Doesn't help that every update will cause changes to completely unrelated things than what the patchnotes claimed changed.

Well would make sense it to not work on regressing gens as it could be quite easily abused as you could just keep hitting the same gen by going near it.

Alot of videos actually made it seem WAY worse than it was by the power of editing. You could hit it 1 time per use of OE. If you wanted to dump 8 uses, you going in and out of OE over and over with its cooldown each time.

As an avid surge enjoyer, I mostly see it as a buff, lol. I kept accidentally wasting my regression events just walking past gens. I just think it was funny the foaming at the mouth reaction ppl had where a killer could regress a gen 40% by standing next to it for like 2 minutes. Thats a TERRIBLE time exchange that only looks good if you can edit out the time in-between hits before showing your audience.

Yeah people like to whine about things when they don't know what they are talking about or not bothering to even test it themselves. Just imagine for a moment if there was a survivor equivalent. A medkit addon that has a weird unintended interaction where if you stand in the corner and dont participate in the game for like 5 minutes, you get healed 1 health state... while also losing the ability to get healed again. It would dethrone self care for the perk teammates hate to see.

There has been some interesting bugs in this game time to time. Seen an invisible staircase to heaven, dropping mirrors to teleport outside of the map, survivors getting stuck behind hooks and some others that can't remember.

Probably because its just going onto the pile of perks and addons that help get "free hits" in chase you wouldn't have gotten if you left the slot empty. Its just adding variety to builds. Things like Coup or Spirit fury are similar.

Yeah once you've figured out what they're running it is counterable. But it's still immensley strong. I mean it completely circumvents his uncloaks basic limitation. It would be like nurse having something that let her ignore blink fatigue or desthslinger having something to bypass his reload.

Well it has the downside of Wraith not getting the movement boost after decloaking so if the survivor has Spring Burst, Dramaturgy, Lithe etc. timing it correctly would nullify the decloaking benefit. Still its something you only get after hooking a survivor so you have limited usage of it in the match anyway. Not to mention you need to be near a gen or line of sight of one to even use it.

  • From someone who plays Wraith a lot: I don't like this at all and am of the opinion that this should not be a thing, especially for a brown addon. I feel like it completely goes against Wraith's design as a killer. By using Serpent normally you still have to stop and break something which balances it out but this just lets you do it without really slowing yourself down at all. It's not uncounterable once you know they have it, but it feels extremely cheap imo.

  • I take it that Wraith can hit a survivor instantly after breaking the gen. So, this can only happen after hooking a survivor and only one time until the next hook. DBD has many stealth based killers that can just walk up on you at any point. Also there are perks/addons that remove TR from any killer.

I don't think its a big deal. Sure it's cheaper than silent bell addon but burns a perk slot for a basic hit.

Not instantly there is still the 3 second de-cloaking time so its not really hit "e" and right after "m1". He can just get that close with it that it can feel like its instant.

After you use the perk there's only about a 1 second delay before you can swing when uncloaking with this build. You do not have to wait the full 3 seconds

It takes three seconds after you press E to activate the perk until you are able to hit with the add-on when Wraith is cloaked. I tested it myself before I even wrote that statement so its accurate go test it yourself if you don't believe me. You can hit rightaway if you are uncloaked or if you play any other killer but Wraith's uncloaking timer is still in effect with the add-on and that is three seconds.

It does not give any speed boost. You will keep the momentum from the cloaked movement speed that is 6.0m/s but when the de-cloaking starts you will transition to the normal 4.6m/s. Yes you are faster for a short period but its not a boost. I did state about this like few posts earlier so you are not bringing up anything new. Still calling it a free hit is little bit much as I would not really classify this anyway to same category as Ghoul's leap this thing has way more counter play but of course if you get surprised on the gen you will get hit but usually if that happens Wraith gets the hit anyway as he would body block you from getting nowhere.
