Jason needs balance changes. He is not overpowered but unfun to face.

(-) Remove the red mist effect from him entirely. It's unnecessary strong handholding that rewards you for turning your brain off. Generators already show you when they are getting worked on and make a different sound. The same with totems

(-) No more free haste for like 1 Minute after every Jumpscare that makes him a normal 4.6m/s Killer. When he holds a spear he is 4.4m/s and without a spear he is 4.6m/s

(-) The Anti Camp Slow motion Jumpscare penalty stays up to 5-10 seconds after the unhook happened to make tunneling less braindead

(+) Charging the Spear for a few seconds results into a longer pushback and faster throwing speed

(+) Jumpscaring a Survivor gives him 15% Haste for 3 seconds and Exposes the Survivor for 3 Seconds

  • How is he not overpowered? Have you ever faced a Hex Jason with Thrill of the Hunt? He can get into chases and still monitor his ruin and devour hope.

  • I can agree with the second point, the others not as much for different reasons (ie anti-camp slow is way too long if it's not intended to be for tunneling, like multi-floor maps and the exposed thing)

But, I do strongly agree with point 1. I really like playing Jason, but the red mist is handholding that I certainly don't need or want. It's a big factor as to why hex builds are strong.

That's like saying survivors are OP because sertain SWF using strong perks builds and win game after game. You can't use perk build argument then Trapper is OP because basement builds exists.

  • Can't balance a killer on the subjective "unfun" especially when unfun is typlically the result of seeing more often than others. This is why balance embargoes exists for killers soon after release. Too many complain simply because every match is the same killer.

He must drop those chases to defend the totem. A smart survivor would tap the totem and go hide.

The thing with Jason is he can just get right back into chase after checking his totems. I've played so many Jason's with ruin and I've seen how oppressive he is.

  • what is the expose for? Why does he need faster throwing speed? He doesn’t need any buffs. Omni needs a longer cooldown, throwing the spear should have a cooldown, hook should spawn slower after grabbing them.

He has to drop chase to keep checking them though in that instance. He'd essentially just be doing the same thing a Wraith can do on most maps, go stealth and check each totem individually. The only cases id say he has the advantage over Wraith in that is totems on different floors.

  • he seems like a reactive killer who does nothing unless the survivors do something. in a solo q setting that's a recipe for a game of chicken.

if 4 survivors decided to just play for the server close Jason will still never leave their gens/totems

Thats the biggest difference im seeing with other killers. Often times it feels like Jason has built in corrupt since no one wants to touch a gen at the beginning of the match when survivors are generally at their strongest and would normally get the most gen progress. You dont see survivors crouching away from a gen everytime Wraith goes Bing bong and stealths around. The complete lack of pressure gives Jason all the time in the world to do anything.

i mean survivors aren't really using any resources either it's a stalemate arguably in the survivors favor if the killer has a perk that has a timer in the beginning

I feel like maybe I was unclear... Jason doesnt ACTUALLY have to run corrupt for this effect. Theres no timer to wait out. You just have a case of survivors not touching gens for a large part of the match. This is especially troubling when the only progress theyre making is 1 guy trying to cleanse a totem, since it becomes assured thats the guy gonna get chased. If you have several gens being progressed like with any other killer, it wouldn't feel like Jason is pressuring every survivor at the same time and the guy at the hex totem would have a better chance of cleansing it.

Then you touch the totem again. Have you never played against a trap based killer before?

I havent had a problem playing against him hes just a less stealthy spring trap just use alot of the same counter play. The problem is survivors dont want to do anything when hes in omnipresent evil get him to start chase and work on gens survivors can do gens insanly fast and are the momentum setters for the game you are the white side of the chess board while killer is the black side.

you aren't understanding what i'm saying. if jason is in OE scoping out neither objective is being done so nothing is being lost unless jason has a perk on a timer in the beginning of the match also it arguable hurts jason to use a totem build since OE gives survivors more of a chance to come across their totem trying to avoid jason

Except generally all gen progress is being regressed if survivors keep stealthing every time Jason enters OE. The amount of crouchwalking im seeing the whole match is crazy.

are you talking about when jason specifically is using a totem build? or OE in general if it's the latter that's false since progress is paused but gens aren't regressing if it's the former that's true and the survivors are going to look for ruin

OE in general since deputies badge is his most used addon.

  • Of course he's way too powerful: extreme mobility, extreme detection, control over everything that can happen in the match, a ranged attack with a fairly generous hitbox for hitting survivors but a much smaller hitbox for colliding with the map geometry, good for camping, good for tunneling, he can hit two people at once, which is the typical bullshit they added so he can hit the rescuer and remove Borrowed Time from the rescued survivor, he counters flashlights, he counters pallet saves, not only because he throws you or impales you, but because he can also Mori you with everything that entails, he sees everyone who performs an action as red mist, the red mist can be seen through walls, and on top of that, after that detection he gets Killer Instinct, so, as if the previous detection wasn't enough, he also knows where you're going or moving. The detection and jumpscare radius is quite large. When he reappears, he can do it facing any direction and in almost any location, regardless of whether there is ground there or not. He blocks windows, blocks pallets, blocks paths, he can throw the spear with just the right drop to take advantage of the survivor hitbox, he can thread it through small gaps, at the exit gate he impales you, throws you into an unsafe area to get a double hit, reappears with no penalty and can attack instantly, he gets Haste for free, he has his power every few seconds, his power resets the hooks, the map is full of spears, the spear's travel speed without charging is insane, he can teleport from far away and at a good distance, adding even more mobility to his absurd movement speed, and not only that. Of course, he can do it between different elevations. When you have the spear stuck in you, he sees you through walls. If you pull it out, you get a 10% Hindered penalty. If you don't pull it out, he can kill you as well as see you. In his ######### ghost mode, he sees every defensive option the survivors have as if he had a free fifth perk. He can quickly destroy unfavorable breakable walls. He can make long-range shots because the spear's drop is in the sweet spot for the survivor hitbox without sacrificing effective range. The Haste he shouldn't even have also lasts ridiculously too long. Anything that causes regression either gives him Exposed for detection, a free hit, or causes loss of progress, whether it's Sloppy Butcher, Ruin, or exit gate regression. He can patrol infinitely because he has no limit; his power is infinite. He can see the exit gate lights in ghost mode. He can hear the hatch in ghost mode. The effect of crouching to avoid the jumpscare isn't instant; a few seconds have to pass. The killer's size is favorable for medium loops. Obviously they realized that, with the ######### spear design, if they made him taller, the angle combined with that generous hitbox for hitting survivors but the lack of hitbox for colliding with the map geometry would be too much, so on top of Haste he also has a medium-sized model. Only a blind person wouldn't see how powerful this killer is, only someone very, very blind, because even impaling people down the basement stairs is broken. And I repeat, it doesn't just let him throw you into a dead zone, it's also perfect for playing dirty on the basement stairs; if not, there's the double hit I already mentioned. You'd have to be incredibly blind to say he isn't way too powerful. I guess since everything gets compared to the trash that is Nurse or Decay, then sure, you're right, Jason is trash. They should buff him even more so Nurse would look like garbage in comparison, because, at this point, seeing what the game is turning into, what does it matter?

Yeah, i agree. Hex builds are too strong on him. Jason himself is not too strong.

Why tf should his throw have a cooldown? He throws and then has to reload somewhere while Springtrap gets his Axe back like Thor his Hammer and nobody has a Problem with that. That said why should hooks take longer to respawn when he also needs them to hook. You can't punish the Killer for using his ability…

That works until every gen is regressing except the ones being worked on. At that point, you might as well just crank out as much progress as you can rather than leave proof that your there and NOT make any progress.

if the jadon is going around in OE using deputy badge blowing though his 8 kicks not checking the area checking 4 seperate gens that helps survivors since jason is running out of kicks while survivors aren't using pallets or windows so jason is just throwing since he isn't taking a chase

The entire point is survivors arnt doing that. Theres actually another thread on here on survivors asking for AFK crows to go away because they keep getting them from not touching gens. The idea that Jason might put 2 and 2 together and come out of OE on THEIR gen to look around means they'll not only not touch the gen, they'll crouch walk all the way to the hook to get a rescue. This is stealth gameplay to the extreme.

so it's a survivor issue at the end of the day

  • In a way. It would be like if people hid in lockers everytime they heard Doc's TR. Considering perks and addons can make that TR huge... that could result in someone living in a locker til the AFK crows come. AFK crows were introduced to prevent cases where survivors were spending ungodlike amount of time stealthing around the map and avoiding touching the objectives.
