What would be you're ideal year of DBD?

Since we are a couple days away from the new year and Year 10 for DBD is about to start, if you made the decisions how would the next year of content play out? Heres some of what my ideal year would be.

Buff Trapper to at least high C Tier

Swamp Rework

Twins Rework/Recode

Buff weak killer and survivor perks to change up the stale meta

Diablo as a full chapter

Have more band shirts (would love some Sleep Token shirts)

  • my ideal year for DBD would be for both us as a community and the developers to focus entirely on bringing the game to a state where we can all have a worthwhile experience.

i think the introduction of public custom matches and true customization of the game would make a huge difference.

  • Reverting all the mechanic changes they've done over the past year would be a good start. Who knows what can be done after that...

  • Restore pallet vacuum

    Improve survivor animations

Dead hard usable unlimited times and removed hook condition

    Nerf Dracula

    Remove cheaters

    Probably when i joined. (2023)

Both sides had busted perks or/and killers,

Events were fun for both sides.

Heck, they made soloq playable on halloween event, insane to think about, how much an event can be fun if you just think a couple of steps ahead.

The reason why i loved halloween event, is because people were rewarded for doing gens, so everyone did gens 24/7 and the meta killers, blight and nurse, were handicapped since survivors used portals mid-chase and gain massive distance, giving variety to other killers.

But it wssnt completely survivor sided since killers can still use the event to their advantage.

Not terrible ideas but I am curious on why the Dracula nerf? Not judging just curious.

  • My idea year would be closing the game for 3 - 6 months to rework it from the ground up. Iron out all of the bugs, change how gens and hooks work, give players more autonomy across the board, beef up communication, etc. Essentially make year 10 the true year of health.

I'd love to see additional features as well like the ability to recolor cosmetics via a color wheel, change lobby themes on the fly, share/recycle things from the bloodweb, so on and so forth.

Really give the game a chance to shine with all of the potential we've seen in it from day one.

But as we all know, that will never happen. It's the single most unrealistic thing to expect from the game (in my opinion).

  • Sell the game to a better company, tbh.

I thought this was a horrid idea once, because BHVR may not be competent, but they did care.

Now? I don't think they care nor are they competent. They seem to just use DBD to develop more games that nobody really buys or plays.

Get a lump sum of cash for the game, and give it to a better development studio.

  • It would be cool if they added Yautja species from the movie predators as the killer while surivor Dutch play by Arnold Schwarzenegger as a survivor. I want behavior to add a new feature like recording so allowed players to see their previously match. It would be nice to see a update of anti cheat system since I found some match where some killer and survivors cheat on pvp match which is not enjoyable for both side.

  • Once upon a time, they had ideas for lots more mods, things like a 5v5. The failure of the QoL has really put a damper on the traditional 1v4 for me, and I'd really like them to invest in more ideas like that to give variety to the game.

  • Personally, I would wish for a full on rebuild of the game. Similar to how Valve did it with Counter-Strike, when it was time to move CSGO over to the Source 2 engine. This proved to be a great success.

Other improvements I would like (that has not been mentioned by others in this thread):

    • Better BP and shard rewards overall.
    • Improved matchmaking / or return to ranks.
    • Rewards for P100 / rewards for reaching certain Devotion milestones.
    • Being able to select the main lobby theme (similar to what PUBG did).
    • Better performance optimization (comes with the rebuild) / moving the game onto Unreal Engine 5.7
    • Unbinding of certain actions with framerates, like movement, skillchecks and such, to make the experience consistent across any framerate and platform.
    • Christmas themed Sable skin ❤
  • If we are talking gameplay.

Better tutorial or ways to learn killers/dlc killers (powers etc)

But for content i only "want" one thing

Full blown The Casting of Frank Stone chapter (killer, survivor(s) and a map)

  • Good question… I don't have concrete ideas for the "how" of all of these, but I think broadly the list would be:

    • Another pass at anti-tunnel. Ideally sooner rather than later, but if it's towards the end of the year, that'd be palatable as long as it is more likely to actually happen this time. This one I'm actually cooking a post about, a version of anti-tunnel that learns from the previous attempts.
    • Trapper update. Nothing huge, just a moderate set of dedicated changes for addressing his bigger pain points.
    • Something for limiting slowdown perks in a healthy way, so each perk can be individually stronger without worrying about stacking getting out of hand.
    • Something to limit unhookable build shenanigans and/or something to limit really aggressive hook denial, it's SUCH a pain on killer. Flashlight squads are fine, even fairly dedicated sabo players aren't that bad, but there's a threshold where everything's being used in extremes where it gets so frustrating to play against.
    • (Honestly flashlight addons could use an overhaul though)
    • Bloodweb clutter overhaul, especially focused on how outdated and cluttered the offering system is. Maybe paired with a Luck mechanic rework to make it actually a real part of the game?
    • Doctor Who content of some kind :)

Fairly unlikely we'll see all of these, but I'd be ecstatic if we saw two or three across the year. Obviously too, continuing the trend of buffing a bunch of perks in most updates is good, but I don't think they're gonna stop that any time soon.

Genuinely because I am bad at the game and dont know his counterplay. he is actually very strong too but idk if enough to merit nerfs this is just a biased take

I want better focus on game balance and communication. While also wanting Jason to come to the game of course.

  • Maybe they finally add proper graphic settings.

But who has the money to buy it and wont milk the game dry to get that money back?

    • Something to do. Ranks, challenges for special skins,...
    • They could fix the stats tracker

I mean, the way I see it is that BHVR is already milking the game dry.

Might as well give it to someone who will do that and maybe has the capability to make the game better.

  • Eliminate cheats and bugs, but I know this is never happening.

    This INFINITE%!

If they cared about the players and the game they wouldn't do half the crap they do like leave for vacation and left the game swarming with cheaters.

Not really. They just let it quietly generate money.

    Milking would be:

    • Skins which cost 150 euro. Better, you need to buy the entire collection to get the skin for free. So its not an obvious insane priced skin, its a present for loyal customers...
    • Little unnecassary gimmicks. Cheap, but they add up. Blue light for your flashlight? Also a funny sound? 5 euros each. Better, its only available in a bundle with a skin you dont want. And make it time-exclusive.
    • And why bring old rift-skins back? Wait until everyone wants them badly and then bring a slight recolor. Could also work for legacy. Just make it blue.

But you could also give dbd to an asia-publisher:

    • Slower progression and the ability to speed it up with money
    • Lootbox/Gacha-systems
    • Pay-to-win-booster: how about a 5th perk slot per use

And i really hope behaviour does not read those ideas.

Skins are already outrageously expensive, 20 USD is absurd.

They recently got rid of Archives and made the BP much more grindy with fewer rewards.

They brought in a whole bunch of kids with FNAF, then made predatory pricing changes.

They refuse to upgrade Anti-Cheat. The game is functionally a paid F2P game, at this point.

Events becoming worse and worse. No rewards, no Skins, and no currency.

Plus, did you see the collectors edition? 250 USD for a ######### statue and an art book. Oh, but you get like 300K BP!

  • Too many to count but one very recent change that I would undo is that horrid Autohaven filter that nobody asked for.

Having spirit, pyramid head, and wesker powers plus a teleport that blocks windows. No that's not a biased take to any sane player. He has counters for every possible survivor defense/resource and when he gets outplayed catches up instantly. So stupid
