    They're coming before 2020.

I am aware dcing isn't the only way i even addressed that in my post. Deranking by throwing/playing bad will only annoy other survivors it won't hurt the killer at all.

It will change a lot but not immediately.

Servers need to release to handle dcing and the survivor community will slowly gather against people who derank intentionally by other means since no one will want to play with those people.

Where is this confirmation? Link us

Also, it's ok now because the DC and derankers will hurt survivor now by your logic. It's better to hurt three people than the one killer.

None of the implementations were good. This isn't an E-sport game, and people need to stop pretending it is. We all had to deal with SWF lobbies when we first started playing killer. It is painful to faced SWF, but when you do chase that rank 1 you could learn a lot about how to play killer more efficiently. You'll learn nothing by catching potatoes on your way to red rank.

You do realize those servers ain't coming anytime soon and DC isn't the only way to derank. You can just ensure you get one hooked everygame and be just as efficient with no timer.

I personally don't mind the change but I'm not gonna pretend like it's gonna change much.

Let's punish people who deliberately one-hook repeatedly with the purpose of de-ranking. You think it will be hard for devs to tell who is consistently letting themselves be first-hooked on purpose?

SWF by default gives you an advantage, Being matched with a killer of the highest player in that group seems fair to me.

Having it go on an average lead to too many instances where people would play with multiple red ranks and one brown in order to get matched with a killer that wasn't on the same level and would easily get looped by the higher ranked players.

It well never be perfect anyway. So o well looks like new season I wont rank up

  • No I do not like the new matchmaking, it is not really anything new as there is still no incentive to get to a higher rank, so what does it matter matching people with lower ranks into high rank games? All this has done is made it easier for killers to fight low ranks who want to team up with veteran players. I should also add that the queue times seem much worse then they were before the hotfix as survivor.

  • I have no issue with SWF lobbies in terms of being put in with a killer who's rank is closest to the highest ranked player in the lobby. Its the long waiting times that are a pain.

  • Not one bit. It takes 45 minutes to load into a game with my friend and when we do get into a game, we get rank 20

But it's really not punishable unless you make it extremely obvious every-game. Not to mention they hardly ban people for DC right now, what makes you think they will ban people for one hooking or playing like crap?

On average how many killers do you think would care to write a report about a guy who made it easy to get caught? Like cmon, lets nod kid ourselves here.

  • Yes, however I would prefer an average rather than highest.

It ain't the Killer who would be reporting someone for repeatedly first-hooking themselves. :P All it takes is a couple of Survivors reporting their "teammate" for unsportsmanlike conduct or griefing for the devs to take a look, and if they notice a sudden trend of the rank tanking in a short amount of time, they can probably put two and two together.

  • @Regionlock said:

This will hardly change the experience mid-tier and low ranking killers get by much. If anything this will drive up the number of people deranking so they can play with their friends.

Why would I for example force my friends to play versus rank 1 killers when they hardly play this game? They aren't trying to be E-sport DBD players, and the game is balanced more around killer if you have no idea how to properly play survivor.

You just watch the number of DC and derankers go up, it's a guarantee for people that already got the rank 1 achievement. Red ranks mean nothing to them anymore, unless you want to sweat every match.

Agreed 100% next season I will def be that % that DC. I play to play with friends that's all I care. And now I cant even do that. Without them gets wrecked every game

Lol, alright buddy I'll let you keep believing what you want. I ran into plenty of ######### red ranks before this recent patch that got one hooked. By your logic, I should report them because he might be a deranker, and not just bad at the game, or is having a bad game.

Let me consistently false report because that's healthy. Ya'll dreamers out here for real.

A little under a year ago, we announced that we would be bringing dedicated servers to Dead by Daylight in Summer 2019. Since then, our team has been hard at work converting the game from the existing peer to peer system. There has been a lot of discussion surrounding dedicated servers recently, so we would like to address questions or concerns you may have in this post.

    Release Timeframe

We have recently tested dedicated servers during the 3.2.0 PTB. After a few rounds of changes, we already could see drastic improvements on average ping which translated into better general feedback. From the survey results and community feedback, we identified two main issues that were putting the release at risk:

Projectile interaction (The Huntress, The Plague, The Clown)

    • Delay on throw
    • Hit registration

    Interaction bugs

    • Some instances of missed attacks
    • Multiple hits on one action (i.e.: The Huntress hatchets hitting multiple survivors)
    • Trapper placing 2 traps instead of 1
    • Infinite blinds
    • Delays on interaction with objects

After reviewing the feedback collected and making several changes, we have decided that it is best to push back the planned release. Our new goal is to release dedicated servers on all platforms during Fall 2019. We know this delay is disappointing, but we feel it’s best to take the additional time to polish the experience and iron out a few issues.

    Next steps

    1. Projectile interaction improvement
    2. Interactions: bug fixing
    3. Steam live tests

We will communicate about our mid-term plan as we get closer to the Steam live test in October. With the fixes of our two main issues, we will be ready to test on the live environment right away. Testing on the live environment will allow us to gather more feedback and data. To streamline the process, the tests will be exclusively on PC. These testing phases will be communicated thoroughly and can be reverted if needed.

    Server Locations

We have settled on the following locations for servers when we initially launch dedicated servers:

    • Asia: Singapore
    • Asia: Tokyo
    • Australia: Sydney
    • Europe: Frankfurt
    • Europe: London
    • South America: Sao Paulo
    • North America: North Virginia
    • North America: Oregon
    • Periodically enabling additional regions to test the impact on match quality

We believe that these locations should provide optimal coverage for most regions. If none of these locations are near you, you will still be able to play the game and have the same experience as before.

    What to Expect on Release

Although expectations are high, we do need to reiterate that this is the first step of many. Dedicated servers open many new possibilities that were previously impossible through our old system. Though there will be some immediate benefits, other new features will take time to implement.

This initial release of dedicated servers focuses on infrastructure; we want to make sure that the foundation is solid before we can expand with new features. By connecting to the nearest data center, your connection will be more consistent from one match to another, and generally more stable than connecting directly to other players. Since all players are connected to a server rather than each other, we will be able to better identify disconnections, allowing us to be stricter on users who disconnect excessively. As a Survivor, your movement and interactions will be based on the server rather than the Killer, reducing some instances of jittering and delay when the Killer has a weak connection. For example, camera jittering while using Dead Hard, or a delay while trying to unhook another Survivor.

    The Future for Dedicated Servers

With the groundwork set, we will be able to take full advantage of dedicated servers with new features and changes behind the scenes. One such feature we would like to implement following the release of dedicated servers is the previously mentioned disconnection handling system. We would also like to expand on hit authority (i.e. who gets the final say when a player has a poor connection), which would allow us to make finer adjustments to ensure that hits feel as fair as possible. We cannot provide an ETA at this time for when these changes will go live, but as always, we will be sure to keep you posted once we have more info to share.

Although migrating to dedicated servers is a large task, we are confident that the benefits they will provide will improve the game in both the short and long term. We will keep you updated on our progress as soon as we have new information to share, and we look forward to getting servers into your hands as soon as possible.

    Fall 2019.

DbD is a competitive game actually.

And yes it is better to hurt the 3. Those 3 could just not play with a rank 1 friend to get a killer at their rank.

With the old system the killers didn't have that choice.

DbD Switch has dedicated servers right now even.

  • yes, finally no more matches like 15 rank killer vs 1 + 1 +2 +15 rank survives. SWF is strong already by coms, this fix is great and i love play this game again. No more frustration cause broken matchmaking by players....

That's a Nintendo switch link, lol.

The killer did have a choice, it's the same choice the survivor has now. Just don't play because the matchmaking is #########. The roles just switched is all, nothing was fixed.

  • its funny how people are like "those low rank survs should just not play with their high rank friend". Yeah lets just not play with the friends we bought this game to play with. Its easy to dismiss people who like to play with their friends when you only play solo surv or killer. We aren't all toxic and grouping with low rank friends to bully low rank killers like everyone seems to think. Some of us are just here to play a game with friends who don't get to play as often as we do. They didn't fix anything with this change they just flipped it to the other side.

  • I dont notice a difference.

  • swf is unplayable now... we are a 4men red rank swf and got two matches in 1,5h in EU...

even as solo rank 1 survivor i have to wait pretty long.

  • Yes. I'd much rather a survivor who chooses to play with a high rank be faced against high ranks than a killer be forced to play against high ranks through no fault of their own.

Besides, now the matchmaking for killers at high ranks will be better because all the red rank survs will actually be playing at their correct rank. (Yes, I'm aware this also means that low rank games will lose some survs but honestly that's fine by me. I rarely have ridiculous killer lobby times pre purple ranks)

  • No, it’s too punishing for people who want to play with their friends. But, BHVR is pretty good at turning away consumers from their product of you ask me.

  • Being a survivor main, it's good seeing a more balanced game for everyone (even for killers). I welcome the change

Sorry but high rank survs will derank to play with their friends. Also high rank survs won't play with swf when they see a survivor in bad ranks. I loby dodge everytime I see a bad survivor, because I know the killer's rank because of the SWF

Punish for DC, punish for derank. Why not punish for camper/tunnelers/sluggers/moris?

Because none of those things are against the rules? You don't see me asking to punish for genrushing or looping or teabagging, do you?

  • Regardless of what your feelies may tell you, Camping/Tunneling/Slugging/Mori are all part of the game and, in various scenarios, actually contribute to optimal play.

I know it sucks to be on the receiving end (Personally, I hate getting DS'ed for 'not tunneling'), but it's in the game, literally breaks zero rules, and we have to deal with it regardless of our personal preferences.

  • Nope. Bad for solo play, bad for new players being brought into the game by friends, bad for wait times from the survivor side. Ambivalent from the killer side, because it doesn't really change anything there.

  • Yes I do i had some amazing games I lost as the killer as in no kills plenty of hooks tho.. but so many people same rank as myself using assortment of perks it was a really refreshing change of pace. I had fun!!

I'm very looking forward to different builds on my piggy not feeling restricted so all is good 🐖💖

  • Here's a post from a little over a year ago regarding de-ranking:

    @Peanits said:

Intentionally deranking: Yes, it is bannable (WITH A HUGE ASTERISK, READ ON). If your are intentionally dying in your games to lower your rank, you are hurting the other people in the game by ruining their experience and making it tougher on them. Though these days it's much easier to do something and still derank, so you could still do something to help the team and derank in the end if you really want.

Basically, just don't throw the game, that's all. Be considerate of the other people in the lobby who aren't trying to derank. If you're commited to deranking, at least do some generators or something first. Don't just make a beeline to the killer and die as soon as possible because you're making it into a 3v1 and that's not fair to everyone else.

Staying AFK: Not really. Sometimes people go AFK. Sometimes the dog pees on the rug. Sometimes someone comes to the door. Sometimes you forget that you're queuing for a game and walk away from the computer. We'd have to be able to tell that you're intentionally doing it on a regular basis for it to become a problem. It's still preferable that you don't do it just because that does make the game boring for everyone else.

Farming: Farming at someone else's expense is. e.g. If someone is working with the killer to lead them to other survivors, sandbagging, then farming them on the hook for points- that is bannable. When farming crosses into griefing, that's a problem.

Macros (wiggling, etc.): No. We don't ban for that. Though it's a use at your own risk type deal because if EAC picks up on it and automatically bans you for it, we won't be able to help you.

Macros (botting): Yes, that is bannable. Don't do that.

  • NO

since the matchmaking change, I as a player (survivor) who played in rank 1-5 very difficult to get lobby (waiting time is much longer than before).

I play in the SEA region (Indonesia), please do something.

waited a long time but got the red ping lobby.

I've played for almost 3k hours, so I can really feel a significant change between old matchmaking and the current one.

    (GOOGLE TRANSLATE)

  • You all are wrong. Or almost. They didn't solve the problem. They inverted it. Survivors with Rank 1 were facing rank 20. That's bs. But now, rank 20 survivors are facing rank 1 killers. That's the same bs but inverted!!! If there is a rank 1 and 20 for example= Rank 10 killer. That's just logic am I wrong?! Come on dbd

The difference is that the Rank 20 Survivor has the choice to face the Rank 1 Killer. The Rank 20 Killer didn't have a choice in facing Rank 1 Survivors.

  • No.

All I've seen is Survivor Queues take longer sometimes. The change is from something that used to be 2-5 seconds to 2-5 minutes.

Meanwhile my killer queues aren't any better. They still take 5-10 minutes.

So in short, I saw no benefit and am instead seeing long waits in my survivor lobbies.

Some people don't realize, or ignore it now because it benefits them. All these newer players will see now is spirit, huntress, nurse when they play with rank 1s-4 for the most part.

The sweat at red ranks is so hard that they will be turned off by the game. There was no shortage of killers in queue before, this change just flipped to the other side, now both have insane queue times.

  • That's just giving the giant middle finger to anyone trying to play with friends? But, somehow de-ranking is bad because you want your friends to enjoy the game? you people would report the guy de-ranking for trying to give their friends a better experience when they log on.. ROFL

The only real fix would be to make two separate systems. One for ranking with incentives and another for casual BP grind. The current one is total ######### and just screws over one side to benefit the other. You guys can defend this all you want, but it's getting backlash for good reason.

Or maybe it's just a way for the Rank 20 to improve so that they stand a better chance when they pair up with their rank 1 friends.

And yes, de-ranking is bad. I would report the de-ranker for deliberately de-ranking.

  • No.

I recently brought in some friends to this game and we have had a blast, but even at brown ranks most of them die, now i cant even play with them and they dont want to play without me.

  • Personally, Yes

I don't have a problem as I play mostly red ranks and get more variety in who I play with and against.

You don't get it and you keep showing your bias which is fine. The killer could of used facing the higher rank to become better too for when he got to red ranks. I and plenty others had to deal with it, but you are just looking at one side which is understandable.

We can just agree to disagree at this point.

Look at this guy above me just wants to play with his friends Kartastisk.. Some of our friends will never be good at this game no matter how hard they try, lol.

Look at this guy above me just wants to play with his friends Kartastisk.. Some of our friends will never be good at this game no matter how hard they try, lol.

The same way some killers will never be good at killer, even with these changes. Ya'll do you tho, report those de-rankers.

"The killer could of used facing the higher rank to become better too for when he got to red ranks."

You don't see the double standard in saying that?

What don't you understand? I said that only because of your double standard. ROFL

This is why I said the only possible fix would be another ranking system with incentives.

I'm done talking to you dude, lol

That's just giving the giant middle finger to anyone trying to play with friends? But, somehow de-ranking is bad because you want your friends to enjoy the game? you people would report the guy de-ranking for trying to give their friends a better experience when they log on.. ROFL

The only real fix would be to make two separate systems. One for ranking with incentives and another for casual BP grind. The current one is total ######### and just screws over one side to benefit the other. You guys can defend this all you want, but it's getting backlash for good reason.

Dude nobody knows when you are de-ranking to play with your friends or you are just de-ranking, and frankly nobody cares. If you DC at any point besides during endgame its annoying as you ruined my game to allow your friends to play with people their rank.

It sucks that you can't play with your friends, but you shouldn't be able to ruin the killer's game and think its okay because you just want to play with your friends. Even if you don't do that plenty of others do, which there can be nothing done that issue ( besides what they are currently doing ) because they just want to "play with their friends."
