You should learn how to read upcoming patch notes

Most people don't sit on this website every day reading patch notes. Also there is absolutely nothing in 4.5.0 patch notes that mentions them removing black pips ######### are you talking about.

    Devs' priorities.

I still don't get why developers decided that we need Discordance nerf QoL change more than NOED rework or Decisive adjustments.

I don't understand why changing the Gideon, Autohaven, Macmillan maps is higher priority than improving the state of Haddonfield, Red Forest, Farm maps.

Also, something is wrong with developers' consistency in their decisions. They said that they aim to create perks or change already existing ones in the way that the perk tiers have no significant changes between each other. For instance, BETTER TOGETHER's perk tiers (Nancy's perk) have very minor difference.

At the same time, they are going to release a Patch where BORROWED TIME timers are 10/12/15 seconds on 1/2/3 levels. The lower tiers of the perk are very significantly weaker than the 3rd level.

The fact that I have supported the game since the beginning mixed with the growing realization a couple years ago that they weren't going to fix most of the issues with the game. Nowadays I expect almost nothing from each patch and yet I am still dissapointed because they often just introduce even MORE bugs.

Ok, I'm an Oni main. I've got about 1500 hours on just Oni, and I honestly think scalped topknot makes games literally unwinnable. I've gone against literal optimal "depip squads" and tournament SWF teams that still couldn't beat me when I'm playing with STK. It takes any counter play Oni has, like certain structures being too tight or small to effectively use his power, and completely throws it out the window. if an Oni knows how to avoid getting spun, then you literally cannot escape him. there is literally no structure I the game that is strong enough to escape him if he is using scalped topknot, unless perhaps you he hasn't pre-broken a breakable wall on say Ormond or Autohaven, and even then that will only delay him a couple seconds while he breaks it, and then you're screwed. I'm fairly certain I've reached the skill cap on Oni, and honestly I don't play with STK because it just makes my games boring and unfun. I prefer his addons that make him faster while absorbing blood lol, its just a nice quality of life change. My idea of a change is basically, the topknot should cut charge time by maybe a bit less then half a second, and perhaps also shorten the cooldown after he stops a dash. And perhaps we could buff the base dash time to 1.75 seconds as compensation. Any thoughts?

Finally an honest Oni main. You are a rare breed.. Even certain streamers that play a lot of Oni pretend like there is some magical way to outplay him with this addon... I feel like people put so much time into Oni they can't admit how strong his power really is because it would detract from their impressive skill and hurt their ego. I have learned tricks and techniques that work against basically every killer including nurse and spirit (to varying degrees of success) but not Oni. If the killer is SKILLED (I don't want to hear about the bottom 95% of Oni players or that time you spun a rank 10 oni...) and has his power up you are dead basically no matter what especially with this addon.

  • Several flashlights on decent survivors is honestly the bane of your existence as hag. There isn't really any way around this other than hiding your traps better ( I know you said OoO). Your best bet is to either play more defensively and set up for the 3 gen and hope for the best or play super campy and trap up 1 player on the hook and proxy camp stupid hard which is lame but you do you.

So mmr concerns me, if been playing since release so my knowledge and skill are pretty high as both roles but if the people I verse/have on my team are my skill wont it be boring and bland? I'm not going to see weaker killers, just the 3 odd top tier ones and when playing killer you'll just see the meta always used on everyone. Honestly if this ends up being true I'll just quit, I play because of the range of killers and perks, without that its going to get boring fast

MMR system isn't even going to work properly in the first place. Anyways did you play in high rank when it was literally nurse and billy every single game a few years ago.. Now there is more killers that can be played in red rank than ever before.

People need to stop listening to survivors who whine about ruin undying. They make it seem like it's impossible to win when killers run these perks. I'm a killer Main and beat this combo in solos! This combo only seems op because you have survivors who hide and do nothing whole game or leave gens when they hear the TR.

Most players* are bad at the game. There i fixed it for you.

I personally don't play spirit almost at all and when I do, it depends on the survivors how well I do. Generally, I miss a lot of phase walks and get juked by good survivors pretty often so I wanted to know how do the poeople who keep saying how them playing spirit, is ez win every match, do with her.

Do you actually almost never miss a phase walk or never get juked. Every chase ends seconds after you land the first hit. Always on point each time as phase walking is supposed to be extremely easy to land.

I can understand some of it while using stridor on an injured survivor but a lot of the time, survivor just heal and then you have to correctly predict them without sounds which I find pretty challenging vs good opponent who excels at mindgames, at least from my POV without experience.

She's as good as your headphones are and your understanding of survivor's movements, their patterns, and map layout. That's it really, she is on the harder side because she requires some experience to really excel with her, but if you play both sides you notice spirit players that don't even know how to run tiles properly as killer.. because they don't have too and yet can still do really well with her.

  • The power of the windows key is amazing. My hearing is fully intact..sorry console plebs.

  • Still usable. Now it won't last legitimately the whole game some matches which is very absurd considering how much value you get from hex ruin. Much needed change, but maybe a max of 3 totems (if your lucky with rng) instead of 2 would have been acceptable.

That's the conclusion I came to, and I'm not really seeing any arguments that say otherwise tbh. The only counter is to be not only a swf, but a good one (unless the killer is bad, then even a swf with survivors who play badly can outplay then), but we've already seen according to the devs statistics that the majority of survivors play in solo queue.

Even when using Unbreakable and DS pub games are often times impossible to win. Meanwhile if I use undying and ruin on a freddy I'm going to win at least 3 out of 4 of my matches with ease. Hell, even before I used undying and ruin I was using pop, oppression, and surveillance, and still won 3 out of 4 of my games. Undying and ruin just made me sweat a lot less.

It's just overwhelming, and it's like I have to study for some class to get better at survivor whereas it's typically more simple not only in relativity but in general to compete in red rank pub games as killer while being mediocre and winning most of your matches.

I'd disagree on that, reaction times are very important on both sides. I also do use windows of opportunity regularly but it's only a little help, and not a lot. And I'm sorry but it's not nearly as easy as you make it out to be. Also, those survivor content creators are narrating their own specific chase. They are on a particular side of the map, in a particular jungle gym, with a particular map RNG and particular perks, as well as against a particular killer. You can't just copy and paste and become good at looping when there are so many variables.

Neither of you two have a space to contest that, but you do have a space in continuing being the smoothbrain you are and contributing to my thread and giving it more attention than it already has. Feel free to insert whatever second cheesy comeback you've got but unfortunately a clown can entertain themselves and there's no assistance on my part needed to do that for you, so this exchange ends here. Feel free to stick around though as you already have been.

No need to apologise for the wall of text, and thank you for responding (as well as the lot of everyone else).

I do notice details, but it's really just weird that I can't seem to wrap my brain around what the killer is doing. Personally I play in a particular way as killer and the survivors I see don't really play any different, therefore it's easy to know what they're doing, even if I don't personally do them myself. My issue isn't about winning or anything; some of my favourite games actually I lost, but it either was unique and/or I had a good chase. Like the most scary game I had was maybe a month ago. I was giving Object of Obsession a try and was kind of liking it since I wanted to get better at chase so I thought why not make a perk where I'm going to be the centre of the killer's attention. But it was on Midwich, against a Scratch Mirror Myers with Huntress Lullaby. Extremely difficult game, and somehow I managed to be the last one alive. Other favourite games were against some good nurses that I manage to loop around a bit. I died, but the chases were fun (one reason why I get excited going against nurses).

There's also "creating" loops as well, and I've been trying to do that recently but it's really meh. Like if there are two pallets near each other, I will pre drop, circle around them a few times, then go to the other to do the same thing and kind of create a faux jungle gym. But it's all really variable depending on the killer, and there are plenty of killers I suck going against. It also could be that maybe I'm underrating how I play. It didn't strike me until now that it would've made more sense to show what I actually play like, not for critiques (although much appreciated) but for context as to what I'm saying. I only have one that's viable to upload (i tried uploading the other which shows more of a chase but it's on The Game and the video is dark as #########, almost black, when downstairs).

Okay great! You got some footage so I can actually give you some better help. So at 9 30 in the video vs the wraith you got a killer stun at a pretty unsafe pallet in general and once a pallet is thrown down (at an unsafe pallet) it becomes REALLY unsafe and you waited for the wraith to recover from the stun to see what his move is. In this situation you should just take off running asap because you could have gotten so much more distance especially because he didn't have enduring. In this specific clip you were able to make it to another pallet (another unsafe unfortunately), but in other circumstances you wouldn't have because you gave the killer time to recover and catch up. Now at longer loops what you are doing is correct, wait a bit for him to almost recover and start running BUT make sure he kicks the pallet. If he doesn't kick the pallet run the long side of the loop until you force him to break it (you seem to be doing this correct). Good body blocking later for your teammates you played that nice and you 3 got out which is great. Other than that it just takes time and like i said earlier you have to LIMIT TEST if you really want to see how good you can become which means dont worry about dying, but focus on seeing what you can get away with. Also i see that your console.. idk if you can, but if you have the option to turn your camera sensitivity up i would recommend it on a bit higher around 70% so you can easily turn your camera more often and look at the killer a bit more during the chase because it helps a ton and could have been the difference at 9 48 (It was a tense situation and I still do this sometimes dont worry).

Anyways, good luck! Don't take my criticism harshly I don't mean it that way at all I can tell you just want to improve so here is some advice that I wish i knew earlier.

    Hello, everyone!

This is a friendly PSA: DO NOT unhook fellow survivors when in killer sights. This equals automatic rehooks and death evey time.

Killers: IF a survivor is being unhooked infront of you and the SAME PLAYER does it TWICE IN A ROW- it's BAIT!!! How about looking at the survivor doing the unhooking, eh?

Disclaimer: Usually this would be marked as working with the killer, but according to the Devs you need video evidence and normally you don't have the chance to get that when playing on a system that isn't PC. You will get a lovely response saying their hands are tied because you can't support your claims.

True, but if you are on 2nd hook already while the killer camps and nobody else is going for you I'm going to unhook and hope the killer screws up or you have ds.

As you have probably read the title I believe Badham preschool is the best survivor map regardless of what perks you run as survivor, or killer.

This map is extremely brutal and punishes you for the smallest of infractions and mistakes. The main building is a school with 5 different loops around it, with one of them being the best in the map. 1 pallet near a car and a hook, which lead to the fenced window or left, into the school where you can drop below and find 3 more pallets, one on top and 2 down below. Your best choice if your killer is to break all of the pallets in the building but that in itself is extremely hard. Below the school is a boiler room with extremely tight corridors which don't allow mind games in the slightest, you HAVE to take a stun or just get close in general, but that's if the survivor you injured drops the pallet in the first place since most survivors now have enough brains to realize that the speed boost itself is more than enough than dropping the pallet and getting away, in the off chance that you break all pallets down below you still have 3 pallets up top ( refer to the start of post ) and a window which leads into the school if you broke all the doors ( bad move, it creates a near infinite loop with the window. ) or if you didn't, another car loop. Even if you broke all the pallets, and didn't touch the doors there is ANOTHER pallet to the back of the school which is located by a tree and the long broken fence.

Lets say you broke every pallet in that area, 2 down below, 1 up top in the school and all 3 to the outside and behind the school, you still have the killer shack which is about 5 feet from the front of the school and to the left is a brown house with 2 breakable doors, there is also another house to the right of the shack with a generator in the bottom, and another 2 pallets, one in the house and one down below on a car loop if you dropped thru the window. Smart survivors will buzz around the school and when they are injured they will tend to run to the house, the shack, or loop around the god window. Your only chance on this map is if you are trapper or a extremely powerful killer or baby survivors. Trapper would completely shut down the school loops ( as he does with nearly every loop in the game ) but you cant play trapper every game expecting the one bad map of Badham unless you have a map offering but why the ######### would you do that. Another choice is brutal strength but that's IF the survivor drops the pallet when they are injured. One of the only advantages to this map is the outside is sparsely populated so it is quite easy to find a survivor long distance or track a injured survivor through the school. The downside is that if you are not a stealth killer or you don't have Dark Devotion ( A situational perk, not a lifesaving one like ruin. ) the survivor will just shimmy along to the school or a loop. Of course you can win on this map but your chances are slim and nigh, and if you make mistakes you can quickly lose your pressure because you tend to only be able to injure one survivor at a time.

    Pros of badham.

Pro's : Sparsely populated map and tight indoor buildings are great for stealth killers. The map is also a little bit bigger than coal tower, which is good for high mobility killers or ones who can teleport to a location instantly and apply pressure, like Demogorgon ( NOBODY plays demodog ) or a spirit with duration add-ons. Also, if you break all of the pallets near and in the school the survivors will have only about 2-4 loops that are strong, most in houses. The killer shack always spawns in one spot near a generator and the exit gates are close together ( you actually sacri'd all 3? )

cOn'S oF bAdHam : EXTREMELY unforgiving, the strongest loops will quite literally lead into each other and the main building has 3 generators near it, the other houses are also straight from Haddonfield, the basement house with a generator and 2 staircases, and the house with a hole and a window near it. I believe in total there are 15-17 pallets which is close to the famed pallet town hell of all 5 Autohaven Wrecker maps.

TLDR : i really dont like badham preschool it sucks nerf ds pls ;P

Agreed. I think i posted a simiar topic awhile back. It literally has 5 god pallets and a potential god window spawn at the house of pain not to mention the infamous window outside the main building which isn't as bad due to the nerfs but still annoying. Now with breakable walls on the map there is an extra 2 breakable walls you HAVE to break vs good survivors at the 2 story building. Insanely stupid map if the survivors know how to play it properly.

context: almost 800 hours in this game, rank 1 on both killer and survivor and play both often.

This is the first time I've experienced a game where you need hundreds of hours before you even enter the territory of potentially becoming mediocre, and then thousands for being eligible for even being good, and then multiply that for actually being good. And I'm more or less talking exclusively about chases here such as looping, not pretty much sitting on gens or being in a swf and escaping and thus "winning".

From my perspective at least, the average survivor is very mediocre at best, more often than not (including in red ranks) worse than that. And I think a lot of people, killer mains and veterans included, can attest to that, but I never see an actual explanation as to why. And from what I gather, the skill ceiling for being a good survivor in terms of looping seems so unrealistically high, which is why few people achieve it. A killer can be mediocre, but they have powers, game functions them out, particularly meta ones. Bloodlust, basically generally any anti-loop killer, so on. Survivors really only have their exhaustion perks and it only works once in chase, and when I play killer it tends to not really get them that far in the grand scheme of things, even Dead Hard (although it is annoying when used right).

Unlike playing killer, the practice isn't linear for survivor. There are plenty of people who only play a handful of killers, and there's no mandate to play a diversity of them. For example there are Nurse mains with thousands of hours on her, and pretty much only play her. In the games they encounter they have the linear practice of being used to how survivors play against a Nurse. The techniques and whatnot that work on other killers is irrelevant. For survivors there is no linear practice and you constantly are going back and forth between killers in a random order, and many with a totally different playstyle and you have to basically be prepared on how to skillfully play in 23 different ways, as everyone has at the very least their own powers and no two are the same. Videos on how to get better at survivor aren't really helpful in my experience either, as from what I notice it comes down to being in the right place at the right time and knowing where to go and how to basically minmax your movement and be precise. Playing killer you do have to know where to go when you mindgame, but for the most part it's just going where you see survivors and/or think they are, and not needing to position yourself. On top of this, resources have RNG on top of RNG. You have variations of a variation of a given map, making it difficult to tell precisely where things are in chase. But forget what I said about looping because of how many killers this game designs where it just deletes out the resources survivors have. Deathslinger, Pyramid head, spirit, huntress, nurse, so on. So many other killers included that have no reasonable counter on the survivor's side other than simply "don't get found"/"don't get hit" but yet these killers just remove the only two resources you had to work with to begin with. And even when there is counter it's all about being in the right place at the right time and being so precise about your movement. Personally, when I play killer, I make a lot more mistakes than when I play survivor, and it's not nearly as punishing, even in red ranks. But apparently that's just me, but playing killer and winning is 1000% so much easier than survivor in terms of mindgaming in chase. Which is why I think a mediocre killer wins more on average than a team of mediocre survivors, especially if it's a strong one like Freddy or Spirit.

The only advice I see is to "git gud" but I'm sorry I don't feel like investing thousands of hours into something that has such RNG value and that just seems so poorly designed on one end. Playing more doesn't help. Youtube videos don't help. Recording and watching your own feedback doesn't help not one bit. And it's just tiresome and boresome that this game is so demanding to even be competent at it. It makes playing survivor, particularly in solo queue, miserable, and am pretty much at the point now where I'm just don't want to play it anymore since I find killer to be boring but unfortunately my friends ask me to play this game and we have no other game in common until Back To Blood comes out so I thought I would try one last time before I just seclude myself to only playing this game with friends.

It's not really hopeless, you're just frustrated which a ton of players are right now considering the current state of the game. Best advice if you want to actually get good at looping is to LIMIT TEST for the next couple dozen matches and really push what you can get away with. You start noticing patterns that good killers do and once you can tell if the killer is good or bad you can adjust your play style accordingly. For instance, a decent killer will moonwalk "mindgameable" structures if he thinks you are going to camp a pallet giving him a chance to maybe get a cheeky swing in and if he goes for that play you can punish him by either timing the stun correctly or going for the riskier play of extending the loop. Little details like that you won't notice if you play really safe and always drop the pallet early or even on time so you need to stop playing from your comfort zone and try riskier plays to see how both good and bad killers react. Sometimes when you recognize that the killer is good you might notice them double backing at structures and you can just keep running to the next structure while they waste time and lose distance. These changes to your game play buy you tons of time quickly even vs decent killers. You also need to understand how to properly run the structures in the game and what the killer's choices are for each structure as well as how many times you can loop a certain structure or how to win mindgames more often. You're partially correct though... It literally becomes a guessing game at the highest level between two equally skilled players during a chase and sometimes you just pick wrong and lose which is kind of the point.. Game would be pretty bland if you got so good you literally never lost. Sorry for wall of text.

Other than bringing flashlights and urban evasion, which require you to have foreknowledge of a hag, what tactics can you use to counter a hag?

If you are decent at looping you follow her around and trigger all her traps after she places them or while she's carrying a survivor to a hook. Note that this will get you facecamped about approx. 75% of the time though.

now, I do want a DS change/nerf, but I’m not going to act like it’s the end of the world, extremely frustrating yes, But I’m not going to make an essay rant that is completely copy and pasted from the other same post’s. (And yes I am aware that I am ranting about rant’s.)

As we know this perk isn't used how it was supposed to be used, it's most abused perk in the game. DS + UB, zero counterplay, hop in the locker, zero counter play.. Sit on the gen in your face but you can't do anything because of the DS and UB combo, now pair it on 4 survivors and it almost impossible to win. Like many other people recommend it should be disabled if you do objectives, because you are not being tunneled anymore. It could have multiple uses and last longer but if you do objectives (doing gens, healing, doing totems) it should be disabled. It's absolutely unfair to get him by it if you are not even tunneling, i can't express how many times I hook different survivor, find the other survivor, down him and get hit by DS. And like i said in some cases it has absolutely zero counter play, it should be tweaked a bit.

Dude you are the first person to ever post this in the 4 years this game has been out.. Congrats!!

    Few issues with this:

    1. His instant ADS is the only thing he has against good survivors. Making it not instant pretty much kills him unless you are willing to make his movement speed while ADS about 105 to 110%
    2. Idk why you would want to be able to W game against him, that's just boring gameplay from both sides.
    3. Good buff Idea, but right now he really shouldn't be changed. He doesn't need a buff or nerf.

I mean, this is one of the better suggestions for him, but if he isn't broke, don't fix him. And right now he ain't broken.

This guy joins about 15 threads a week defending deathslinger every single time he's brought up. Clear bias for his favorite killer is obvious.

  • Just use a and d or wiggle your controller side to side super fast so that they gain as much distance on you as fast as possible so they can m1 and then shoot you. Seems to work for the majority of the community.

They look down at the ground so it’s much much harder to get the angle needed,

No they are locked in an animation when breaking pallets or vaulting windows.

  • You can still window tech but they did change the timing so their is now a smaller window of opportunity to pass through the killer. Look up some more recent videos but yes it's still possible.

  • Z-WALL is an infinite please remove all structures and tiles including trees so that way we can just always see the survivors.

  • Agreed 100%. Yes rank 1 wasn't entirely an indication of skill but it did separate the players that were dedicated enough to put in the amount of games required to climb and play more competitive matches unlike the people that just played casually. Now you get players that have no business being anywhere near red ranks let alone even purple ranks. The ranking system isn't great but the old rank reset fixed the issues with "bad" players reaching red ranks easily.
