Do you guys only feel happy when your MMR goes up?

Good question. Probably not the answer you want but I'll give you something

I don't notice that my mmr is going up. Once every 15 matches I'll get a good team on my lvl when i play survivor. I played with my friends for a day like 2 months ago ish and we won 13 games in a row. did I see any difference in the solo matches after? No:) they were all the same. so short answer - noπŸ€™

Haha - yes, Choys videos are so painful to watch when this also happened to you.

I usually just die of laughter since I know I don't have to deal with this anymore🀣

It's like dropping 200 kg of solid pure brick off your shoulders after I stopped playing

  • mmr is ######### and the way it works is the stupidest thing ever. It forces people to genrush literally since it only counts on escapes and a tiny bit on time in match, but you don't even gain mmr unless you escape. Lets say you run the killer for 2 straight days and then you finally get downed. you as a player should be rewarded since you ran him for 2 ######### days but no... nononono your mmr with decrease. But if you just sit on a gen for 8 minutes straight urban evasion away when your spinechill go off and then escape you'll get a increase in mmr. They worked "so hard" on this system and it almost as bad as it possibly could be.

I'm not too familiar with how the killer mmr works but I think it works for kills? (correct me if I'm wrong) If so then it encourages the killer to tunnel, camp and slug to get the 4k to go up in mmr. It makes no ######### sense how they actually thought this was a good idea.

Don't get me started on the mmr pit of hell. If you lose too many games you go down in mmr hell. Where you'll probably stay until you get a swf to help you out of it or some miracle happening. but then when you start going back up you'll notice that you start coming with new players to the game because than you'll be back where the "start mmr" is at. so if you can't make it past all the new players that are trying this forbidden game out then you'll be back in mmr hell and repeat.

The game isn't fun anymore and it's dying rather quickly than slowly. Yes you'll have the people that are saying it's because of the world opening up from covid and while that is some part of it, the majority of it comes from mmr. Just search up "Choy" on youtube and look at his in depth videos or the videos where he shows clips of literally all the streamers in this game suffering form SBMM. you'll see that you are not the only oneπŸ€™

Just have your hopes up for the next couple updates that comes this summer. They talked somewhat about it on their anniversary stream but it wasn't so clear so we'll just have to wait until then. Me and my friends have all quit the game because of SBMM and are just waiting for BHVR to take action.

  • No because you only get mmr from escaping and time in match iirc.

The mmr system is a joke πŸ€™

  • No, they will announce more cosmetics and end stream

This game will never come back to what it was. Only downhill from here

  • @gendoss said:

Yeah! I too hate having more fair matchmaking! I can't win if the game is fair so I'm going to quit dbd now.

We know 7 things from the chart:

1.) These are concurrent players, an aggregate of traffic. It is not total players - but how many are playing at any given time. It is not a sum total, but it is a massive sign of new player convergence and retention as well as a basic litmus for community health. (You probably already knew this, I digress)

2.) The Pandemic locked people inside and encouraged them to play games more frequently. In March 2020 the numbers began to rise and the alpha began to decline in Summer 2021, as evidence by how rapid the decline was in September.

3.) Summer season and Anniversary events are massive community builders and the hottest point of the year for DBD.

4.) Whenever a popular IP is licensed, player convergence / retention goes up. Resident Evil was, by far, one of the most popular DLCs in the game's history.

5.) The controversial and botched launch of MMR was the first of a series of blunders that plagued the latter quarters of fiscal 2021 and first quarter 2022 which showed a massive bleed in player retention as well as engagement, likely leading to sub-par convergence outside of whales. Boon totems, Artist, Ringu - all served as bad press which dealt a serious blow to the community's faith in BHVR.

6.) 2022 has seen the most aggressive retention efforts from the devs with random blood-hunts, login rewards, constant mini-sales, and much more. We have seen that these do not reverse the falling playerbase, but service - at the very least - to slow things down and retain core members. It is likely that these incentives also increase convergence.

7.) The latest changes to 2 of the lowerst tier killers mixed with the new Pain-Resonance/Dead-Man's-Switch/Pop-Goes-The-Weasel meta has made Killer much stronger, which has seized the decline. Bugfixes and content updates are doing more to turn the tides than blood-hunts ever could.

When we put all of these things together:

At the end of summer 2021 - The Pandemic ended, Resident Evil fans had their fill, there was no massive IP crossover to maintain the momentum, and the devs injected a lot of anti-fun into the game over the next 6 months. Boons and MMR to name a couple.

At second quarter 2022 - Content patches are coming out in the midst of aggressive and ceaseless sales and login rewards.

In the next couple of months, summer will return with the annual Anniversary spike - so we will likely see those numbers begin to climb (Even if it's for just a little while)

While I absolutely agree that the developers have really fumbled the ball and have lost half of their traffic - they're to blame for the Boon totems and the MMR choking out the new players. I'm none too surprised now that the Pandemic is officially over and winter has rolled past that things - hopefully - will stop from freefalling into the Deathgarden.

Thank you for explaining bro! someone actually going in depth about it made me smile

  • was thinking of saying 3 actually but I thought I should be niceπŸ€™

So this has nothing to do with what I just wrote but okay.

As someone who remembers countless games of learning killer years ago and being grey and yellow rank and going against game after game of pure red rank teams or red/purple teams I find complaints about sbmm hilariously stupid. You can complain about how sbmm was implemented cuz I would agree it could have been and should be implemented much better (it turns out DBD isn't anything like hockey) but I see it's existence overall as a good thing.

I'm not saying they should go back to the old thing but they should fix what they have now. and it did in fact have something to with what you said.πŸ˜’

It's clearly not a good thing when so many are complaining about it, I mean if you are bored of people talking about it on the forums then go on youtube :D there are even more people that talk about it there and how much they hate it.

The thing that gets me the most and probably all the others that hate it aswell is that they aren't doing anything about it.

Where it's when survivors mmr is based on the team it's horrible. Why would it be teambased when you are solo queing?

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2950967#Comment_2950967

It works both ways you know, as a veteran survivor you will also get matched with lots of killers who have little to no experience.

It seems someone else has already tried explaining why the chart is stupid, otherwise you can just go to one of the other 100 threads where someone ignorantly posts the chart saying DBD has died or is dying.

Want to know how the game has been for me the last 200 matches solo queing?

I've gotten against killers on my lvl but my survivors either have 40 hours on the game or they hide in lockers and the corners of the map 60% of the game. I think I've died on first hook more these last 200 matches than I've ever done before them (I have 1400 hours).

This never happened before sbmm so if you can explain that to me then I would massage your feet

  • @Xendritch said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2950842#Comment_2950842

    I'd be happy to.

Okay so for literally the first 3 years of it's existence DBD had many ups and downs and struggled to stay above 20k average players, it took a massive license like stranger things to push it over just over that hump.

DBD survived on 3 years on a fluctuating over under average of 20k so keep that in mind as we keep going. So DBD is at a very stable 23k average for about 6 months from September 2019 to February 2020 and that seems to be it's ceiling.

BOOM! 32k in March BOOM! 40k in June. A game that hadn't grown it's playerbase by 10k in nearly 4 years grew by 17k in just 4 months. The double hit of a global pandemic and obtaining Silent Hill back to back artificially inflated the numbers of this game to insane levels.

Then add RE the next year on top when we're still not fully out of the pandemic and forget it DBD starts hitting the top of the steam charts. But that was never a real number, as we come back from a pandemic and the high of big licenses wears off we come back to DBD's true numbers.

My guess is we still have more to fall and accounting for growth it normally should have gotten we'll probably settle around 26 or 27k. DBD isn't dying it's just not as big as a lot of people who recently came in thought it was. This isn't slight against it it does very well as a niche horror game and I'm sure it will in the future for at least the next couple years.

Of course it's not only because of sbmm but you support it yourself when you are complaining about many posts being made about it. Doesn't that affect you at all? there is a reason there are so many post about it where people say they hate it.πŸ€™

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Posting a steam player count chart instantly shows how ignorant you are lol.

The only reason you want skill-based matchmaking gone is so you can easily 4k newbie survivors every single match, although that might make you happy that will make the game miserable for 4 players every match.

When we had the temporary grade-based matchmaking, which is close to no SBMM, people absolutely hated it (except for the few who likes just stomping beginners every match) - so no let's not remove it.

First of all I only play surviror so you got that wrong

second there are more people leaving the game now because of it than ever from grade-based

and lastly you didn't have anything to back up "Posting a steam player count chart instantly shows how ignorant you are lol." so please give it another shot will youπŸ€™

Another of these posts? I miss the 'Nerf X Killer' posts at this point. We get it. Steam lost players. Does Steam account for Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5 and Switch? People forget these other platforms exist when they spout the games dying for PC.

Do you really think people that are on console haven't quit either? numbers going down is always a bad sign, doesn't matter how big it isπŸ€™

I got this game almost 2 years ago, and all I’ve heard from people during that time period is that the game is dying. I get the frustrations with the game, I uninstalled a month ago because I wasn’t happy with the game either and I really needed a break, but still posts like these are super tiring.

Only one way to get people to stop posting things like this and that's to fix it no?πŸ€™

Thanks for the 82826626th chart thread for today.

You people have said β€œdying game” for years now lol.

I started saying dying game for the first time when I wrote it in this post so no πŸ€™

But hey maybe I'm wrong, I mean the chart shows that it went from 100 000 to 44 000 and it's still going down but that means it's good right?

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2947120#Comment_2947120

Then why not open a thread about how you feel about the new mmr? Instead of... whatever this is.

I did, didn't get much attention sadly πŸ€™

  • @Seraphor said:

"The killers are on my lvl tho. Every now and then I get a baby killer but most of the time I get killers that are around my expertise in the game."

    So MMR is working then.

Ahh yes it would've worked if it was a 1v1. If survivors get mmr as a team shouldn't they get a killer that has an average of what the survivor have in mmr? I feel like you know this and are just saying this to be a douche..

But of course it makes sense as for the survivors that are hiding all match getting maximum 5000 points should have the same mmr as a survivor that do gens, saves teammates and do chases. I mean it's pretty obvious am I right? you realise how stupid that is right?

  • @Seraphor said:

Matchmaking is only as good as the player pool available to pull from. It's going to do ######### things from time to time, no matter how good it is. This is just a simple fact of the game, everyone needs to stop blaming MMR for other people being in their games.

You say people should not blame mmr for their games? I've played well over 150 matches after the last mmr update/change and I've only gotten with people that are new to the game or just does not know what they are doing. Literally only 2 of my games that I can remember where I had a descent team, and thats not me saying I'm better than other survivors but when I click their profile and they have 40 hours or less and when I see them hiding in lockers/corner of the map I know I shouldn't be playing with them. I first thought I was in mmr hell so I begged my friends to help me and I finally got them to play some with me. Think we won 17 games in a row but I still come with the same survivors. The killers are on my lvl tho. Every now and then I get a baby killer but most of the time I get killers that are around my expertise in the game. If that's not mmr's fault then please, be my guest and tell me why this started to happen AFTER the mmr update/changeπŸ‘Œ

And the player pool went downhill way too fast after the mmr update/change. If the players did not leave the game because of the mmr then what did they leave the game for?

This game was better when it had the bad rank system. Of course it was not good in any way but it was slightly better than what we have now. (this is my opinion, you can disagree :-) )

    Keyword: AFTER

Nah it's just not productive to make topics that bait a one-sided partisan argument in a context like DBD where there's two distinct player types.

    1. There's nothing to discuss. What do you want us to say about your unremarkable chat exchange with one killer?
    2. People will just come here to post "killer sucks, survivors good" posts.

Sooner or later this topic will descent into enough bickering to warrant being closed or removed. Or it'll fade into obscurity.

I'll say it over and over I guess. My point of the post was that mmr is garbage since it's putting me into games with "new" killers when i have 1300 hours on the game. Me showing the chat was just to prove that he got mad at me for tryharding when I in fact did not. This post was made so I can talk about how garbage mmr is :-) guess it was a bit hard to understand in my original post?

/He had 300 hours and I have 1300 hours.. I don't get how it's my fault our mmr (best thing implemented in the game /s) is the same./

/Just thought I should post it since I find it funny and I'm siick of mmr as a whole :-)/

My bad for this not being easy to read, will make it easier to understand next time I come to the forums to complain about something πŸ€™

  • @Kurri said:

Imagine me sitting here wait for the thread to get closed again.

You just ran loops and he got upset about it. Why post it if it happen on both sides of the coin?

Bro honestly you need to explain "Why post if it happen on both sides of the coin?" to me. The point of my post is not to just complain about him getting mad. I target the mmr system since hes a "new" killer with 300 hours coming against me the ultimate tryhard with 1300 hours isn't fair at all since I will loop him and then die to him since that is what a bully does πŸ€™

  • @RisingTron said:

At this point I'm convinced some killers want us to load into the game on hooks by default.

word bro, we should all try it honestly 🀟

Can we see the rest of the chat?

He left after it sadly. Before he typed that he was just saying how much he hates going against tryhards and that he hadn't gone against a tryhard in 2 months

  • Why I posted it again? Because I want people to respond defending him so I can argue with them on why they would do such a thingπŸ€™

Why it got removed? I'm not sure if I can talk about it - afraid of getting another warning😯

Why you are negan? probably because you like the walking deadπŸ‘Œ

  • @NeaKamado said:

Hi there. I've been playing this game for I think 5 months now, I've mainly played survivor but as of 1 month I really started enjoying killer aswell, I play let's say 50-50.

I used to think that the killers camping and tunneling were the bad guys, but playing as killer aswell I started to realise that survivors are the bad guys. Crouching, clicking the flash light, taunting, the list goes on. Can you blame a killer who's been bullied all day by who knows how many survivors for camping? Then again there are exceptions in both camps, this thread isn't for clearing the killers, some of them just do this by their own will, but I think most of the time it's the survivors.

I think people forget that behind every survivor and killer there is a person, and that person has it's own stress / rage / emotional tolerance and we're just too oblivious to that. I really can't understand what's appealing in taunting someone and inducing them rage.

Can't we just try our best and not spite other people?

What are your opinions on this? Can it be solved?

    Sincerely,

    A survivor.

I click my flashlight in hopes of getting the killers attention so he can chase me and it works 90% of the times. I don't do it to be toxic I just wanna practice chases πŸ€™πŸ€™

  • ahh yes the good ol' crouch move. Makes me wanna cry everytime someone crouches. Super toxic sadly and we killers can't do anything to stop them from bending their knees! Please remove crouching this instant!!

No, the problem is that matchmaking doesnt give you babykillers anymore.

Did you even read my original post? I didn't complain about the killer being too good, I simply said that my teammates are either new to the game or just not "in my league". The killers are completely fine but when I always get a team full off people hiding in lockers and corners of the map 80% of the game and never doing gens there is clearly something wrong isn't it? I never had this problem before the mmr

  • @Tsulan said:

Have you considered playing killer instead? Perhaps, survivor isnΒ΄t the role for you.

Survivor is my role, played it for over 1000 hours. And it was completely fine before the mmr happened. It's not what I'm playing that is the problem it's the mmr

  • That made me actually happy, if they don't take that as a hint to fix the game then I don't even know bro XD

  • Ahh okay so It's not just me? I tried looking it up but couldn't find anything about it so thought it was just me
