  • On that topic, lets put end game chat on all platforms. I've wanted that for awhile

  • @SoGo said:

Friday The 13th had voice chat. Do you know how it was used?

90% of the time it was completely silent and the remaining 10% consisted of earrapes loud swearing etc.

And as far as I know, that community was more chill than the one of DbD

Its a 17+ game, and its an OPTIONAL feature, and it would have lobbies for people using it and people who optionally use it.

The great things about having options is that it is up to you to use them... You can set the graphics how you want them, the key binds and so on... I doubt everyone would just turn it off, but we would see that. If you are free to disable it, and it therefore does not change your experience it is hard to argue against other people wanting it or wanting to use it... I mean it is fine if you don't want something, does not mean I should be prevented from using it because of that.

Another example would be someone wanting mini games instead of skill checks when doing gens... It is hard to argue against it when you can just toggle between both in the options menu.

Ty, these guys don't realize how much this feature would do to make the game better

  • Chucky was already in my top 3 upon release. But this PTB is making him even better, so likely hes top 2, behind Nurse and passing Blight (Blight got gutted)

  • Optional for a reason

  • What ping system? Quick chat is terrible and dbdm also has voice chat

  • Keep in mind this would be an optional feature to enable, not forced

  • @Jim_Tonic said:

you wont fix SoloQ with VC.

This is a very common misjudgement, the main reason why SWF is so broken against killer is voice chat, but the main reason why SoloQ can feel so helpless is not because of missing voice chat. You have very diffrent people with diffrent targets for each match.

Some want to only chase and never do gens, some want to play stealthy, some play for hatch, some play for challenges. You wont ever find common ground and thats why many soloQ lobbys fail, because SWF coordinate each other not only through vc but through their main target.

Also i can live without random people screaming at me because x willy nilly reasons just fine.

They should make a challengeless gamemode then, encourage people to actually play the game the way it was intended instead of going down in 10 seconds, or doing useless stuff. Thats why i feel we need it as an option, to put them back in line.

  • Well it would be optional ofc. I mainly want it to tell my teammates things though, they do too much stupid shi and it sells the bag. Not that they're gonna listen to one person but still it helps to give more info. Also id mean proxy chat, i mean universal audio heard by all players. Proxy chat would be cool though

Well regarding the slice and dice cooldown, i've had the same concerns but at the same time it could be fine once survivors adjust to it. Like the hillbilly changes.

Scamper does give free hits… even the devs agreed that it does, so this is a weird hill to die on. There's plenty of pallets in the game where if you drop it and chucky immediately scampers it, there's no opportunity to avoid the attack. Because lots of pallets are not chained to another window or pallet close enough.

Scampering if it happens to give an m1 makes your power go on cooldown. Its very balanced and again, shouldn't be nerfed or buffed hes fair to play against now

  • @OrangeBear said:

I main chucky and whilst i love the way he has been since release and i find scamper fun to use. I think the justification for changing it is completely fair. It's true that it can lead to unavoidable hits.

I think he is stronger on PTB anyway. Losing scamper at pallets but keeping it at windows and having a 33% faster power cooldown is a positive trade i believe.

This rework is giving him slice n dice every 10 seconds, honestly sounds way more unfair imo. Also scampering doesn't give free hits

  • @caligraph said:

Scamper is uncounterable and gives chucky free hits on every basic loop in the game. On larger loops you need slice and dice but its still a hit you dont really deserve (coming from a former chucky main)

    @caligraph said:

Well this is coming from someone who actively mains him and actually studied his machanics, scamper does not give free hits. Idk why you all keep saying that it takes so long to scamper and survivors know your doing it. Slice n dicing is a very limited version of blights power and its only available every 18 seconds after use, SUPER BALANCED POWER.

  • @PapaQuintus said:

No, guranteed hits should never be a thing in this game.

you don't know anything about Chucky 💀 Typical core players never using their brains

    Except it is not balanced.

It takes 1.4 seconds to Scamper under a pallet as Chucky; a Survivor fast-vaulting a pallet takes 1.1 seconds.

There is a 0.3 second difference, but Chucky moves fast enough to easily make back that distance on most loops (which is made even easier with certain perks and addons), leading to unavoidable hits.

Weak pallets are weak pallets man. Theres no excuse as to why u shouldn't make it back to the pallet in a loop longer than 15m. Scampering is also AUDIBLE and LENGTHY, lots of anticipated time to leave or go the next side

  • @Iron_Cutlass said:

Go through with changes but bring back the 180* Chucky flicks and various techs his power had.

Scamper was a boring part of his power anyways, youd just keep going under pallets until you got a hit or zone the Survivor in a way that gets a hit, little to no effort or interaction was involved.

Instead, bringing back the fun aspects of his power would make him more enjoyable for both sides, and reward people for making skillful plays and trying out new things.

No, thats not fun, was platform reliant and scampering is his anti loop. He still makes audible noise and its quite lengthy to scamper. Hes balanced, and should not be touched

  • @[Deleted User] said:

HIs cooldown is too long its punishing for his power.

Its main purpose is to confuse survivors, the slice n dice is fine

I quitted dbd 6 weeks ago and honestly I have not missed it. I used to play almost every day but now I don't even consider it worth staying installed anymore. Not even new chapters will make up for the atrocious amount of toxicity in this game.

A friend talked me into trying it one more time after having such a long break. Worst possible idea. I don't know what happend in the last weeks but this game became more toxic then Modern Warfare 2 in its prime (believe me I was there).

So I agreed on playing 5 matches and the result is:
    - in 2 matches half the surivor quitted the game even though they had 2 flash lights map offering and hatch offering
    - in 1 match there was a scripted bot who would just walk randomly over the map and do nothing.
    - 1 match half the survivor gave up seconds into the game
And then there was this toxic monstrosity of a match:

You cannot tell me that this was a coincidence. This was obviously a swf with 2 flash lights, map offering, sirynge medkit and 3!!!!! FTP BUCKLE UP including background player and unbreakable twice.
This match the pinnacle of toxicity and I thought I have seen everything. They tbagged me all the time, clicked around with their flash lights and FTP Buckled Up 4 times in my face. At this point I cannot believe this disgusting combination is still allowed in the game but here we are. Needless to say I wasn't able to kill one of these rats. Of course I was made fun of in the endgame chat too.

I don't like repeating myself but I will say it one last time. Do! Something! About! Toxic! Surivors!. I noticed even a lot of content creators have stopped playing. Your game is dying bhvr. Do something. And no fixing a 5 years old Plague "bug" won't do the trick.

I wouldn't say that poor balancing is toxic, the survivors are just abusing those perks because they're resources available to them and because they're not skilled enough to win a match without OP stuff. Its a common trend with core players(pc & console), relying on that stuff to win, and im out here with 10k hours across mobile and core still getting consistent 4K's using a bloodpoint build 💀(Beast Of Prey, Distressing and Thrill of the hunt). Still dk how after 8 whole years u guys r still this inexperienced that u NEED perks to win and also perks do not have anything to do with skill.

I know i went off topic but i get ur frustration, everyone does it. Survivors just have more at their disposal and im still wondering why perks are as good as they are in the first place. They should have little to no impact on a match, there needs to be a meta shakeup that actually makes dbd balanced more. I mean perks and basekit changes, killers are more complex, but with time I believe DBD can be a fun and fair game.

His power isnt as luck based as youd think since 90% of your traps should be in the middle of a chase. If you place them in spots specifically so a Survivor steps in them by chance its usually near a hook in advance so that you cover 2 options: A survivor can step in it on the way for the rescue, or you come back to the hook and you push them towards the trap to have them step in it. (This works great as long/short wall tiles with a hook in the center since you have several angles and places where you can place a trap, making it very accessible most of the time)

Basekit Iri Stone or any add on for that matter I dont think is necessary other than maybe Trapper Gloves and Makeshift Wrap.

Saying that he was nerfed for having 10 traps now is just... wrong... if you had 8$ and I give you an extra 2, are you all of a sudden poorer? The reason for the buff was to make it so the number of traps he had was more consistent so he could have access to more than before on average.

Speed boost on trap pick up would be nice but I dont think its necessary. He doesn't waste too much time doing it as opposed to placing one.

    Sincerely, a P100 Trapper Main.

That mightve been thee worst example of a more to use situation. "if you have $8 and i give you 2 more, does that make you pooer?"

  • Double pallet is not a good loop, theres 3 structure loops and 1 of them is usually a window gym

  • @CrypticGirl said:

I don't know how they keep making the same mistakes when releasing new maps, and then they have to be reworked, shrunk in size, and made more evenly shaped.

Like Shattered Square was too big when it first came out, and then they reworked it and made it into more like a…well…a square. Now they'll have to do the same with Greenville Square. The put the word "Square" in the name, and don't make it an actual square?

I thought when it released there was gonna be buildings around the statue in the "square" of the map. But nah, they put the 1 building on the complete opposite side from the statue

  • @SelectDevotee68 said:

Imo, Trapper needs a major buff since he's the face of Dead By Daylight. My ideal buff for him would be giving him Bloody Coil basekit and then making the status effect Add-ons apply to disarming his traps.

His problem is luck based power, and his add ons feel needed. But bloody coil should never be basekit, you shouldn't be punished for wasting your time fighting against the power. I feel the time it takes to self escape/teammate escape a trap should be determined based on trappers distance to the trapped survivor. Longer when hes further away so they are immobilized for longer, losing gen pressure, and less time when hes in chase for a few seconds to catch up. For trap disarming, I'd like to see basekit iri stone, trapper loses alot of time setting his traps, now that he has 10, he was indirectly nerfed cus it takes longer to use power to full effect. they should also give him a speed boost when picking up traps so he gets to his desired trap location faster. Luck has always been a dumb machanic in this game anyway, this change I feel is very balanced and fair to make trapper better and less annoying to go against/as.

This game will never be balanced. It's an asymmetrical game. There's a meta in every game, and in literally everything. That being said, the fact there are meta perks is a non-issue and not something that needs to be "fixed".

Take a look at League of Legends. There's over 150 champions, and over 200 items that need to be accounted for. Think of the astronomical number of combinations of characters and items used in a given match, and what Riot needs to do to keep the game relatively balanced. That game is 5v5 and still unbalanced.

The only thing BHVR can do is assure nothing is game breaking or overpowered. At the end of the day, skill matters, too. You said it yourself, you have over 10k hours and get good mileage out of using non-meta perks, but that's not everyone. I've gone against killers running meta perks and they lost bc they were easy reads / predictable.

All in all good on you for not running meta perks, I find it boring. More rewarding to play the fun perks and win.

Another thing to factor in is mmr tho, i do get players who are clearly better than others, but they still run op stuff to survive/get kills. I'd like there to be a non loadout, permanent modifier, basically an all skill gamemode, plusit would be good to test which parts of a killer and survivor's kit needs a nerf or buff. This games meta is so boring, its why so many good content creators are quitting, which is really sad to see. Makes me think abt when Ninja, Noob3, Monto used to play, but they're all gone.

They wont get tagged for free though. You make a noise manifesting, you need to manifest to hit someone. That would be when you leave a gen.

" The static produced by TV's should be changed to just create an effect around your screen telling you when your within range of a TV.". It literally does that now what are you on about? You see an aura, you hear the TV and you get a static effect when you're within range. How much more do you want to dumb down the survivor side knowing you're within an aura range? If you're incapable of working it out in current Sadako with all the information you have that you're near a turned on TV nothing short of a flashing message on the screen saying "TV NEAR BY" is going to help you.

Ring drawing is not even close to being a strong effect nor is Yoichi's fishing net. Ring drawing is damn near useless with current Sadako since it's rework since any condemn you push with this addon can be outclassed by other addons 10 fold.

"Condemned survivors should not be revealed by killer instinct at all, its already very hard to escape a determined Onryō without a tape already in hand, I propose that full condemnation be temporary.". Lmao, you want to make a D tier killer even worse by removing one of the only bits of consistent information you can get as a Sadako? Here's an idea, don't get fully condemned in the first place. Outside of midwich it takes 0 effort to not get condemn on your side as a survivor, this suggestion you made tells me you simply don't understand how to play vs a Sadako at all.

It takes 1 second to manifest 💀

  • @the_voices said:

While I seem to think the current version of this killer is better than most do, I still think she could use some adjustments.

    • For one, she should not have a lullaby, her manifesting gives survivors plenty of time to react as it is.
    • Condemn stacks should fully lock in as they did on the PTB
    • Survivors should only see the aura of the designated TV when carrying a tape. I think them seeing the TVs neuters her ability to teleport mid-chase too much, and the weird static flickering around the TVs should be removed too
    • Make Ring Drawing Basekit. Current Ring drawing causes all other survivors to gain a condemn stack when you hook a survivor with a tape. This gives you stronger passive pressure as a whole. The tape is also destroyed when hooked
    • Tape insert and removal time should go back to 2 seconds and turning off the TV should take 1 second, not 0.5
    • I think another feature that could be cool is if every time a fully condemned survivor would have gained another condemn stack, killer instinct activates on them again, making being fully condemned even more threatening
    • Survivors with 4 or more condemn stacks should suffer from blindness, making Yoichi's fishing net base kit

Most of these were just ideas I brainstormed so they may have some design flaws I didn't think of. Feedback appreciated.

So, it sounds like you want an S tier Sadako. There needs to be a lullaby so survivors who don't have line of sight know to pre leave or they'll get tagged for free. The static produced by TV's should be changed to just create an effect around your screen telling you when your within range of a TV. Ring Drawing & Yoichi's Fishing Net should never be basekit, their pretty strong effects against solo q players. Condemned survivors should not be revealed by killer instinct at all, its already very hard to escape a determined Onryō without a tape already in hand, I propose that full condemnation be temporary.

  • @CasualCosta said:

And I say this as a survivor main!

Three matches in a row there was someone who just tried to jump three times into hook stage two then failed all tests to die. If this was a 2 survivors left situation where one kills himself to give the other a chance at finding the hatch, that would be fine, but those were the first or the second hook of the match and we had already finished a gen, so it's not like it was unwinnable.

There needs to be a stricter punishment for doing this kind of thing. I played DotA for years and there would often be DCs after the first death. This behavior pattern only ever changed after Valve set a low priority queue for people with multiple DCs and reports in a month. I suggest BHVR does the same: allow survivors to report other survivors into low priority games for this kind of nonsense. And let these guys rot down in low priority match finding until they escape X amount of matches.

Now, I know this kind of thing can be abused and players can use that to report, say, someone who plays a style they don't like. So one thing I suggest to copy from Valve: parties only get a single vote. This should prevent SWF from mass reporting someone they don't like. There should also be a minimum amount before getting sent to low prio and this number should reset every X amount of days, like a month. To counter-balance report abuse, commends could decrease the counter as well. However, SWF shouldn't be able to get any benefit from commending within their group, obviously.

Or really any other kind of thing to stop early hook suicides. I've played for an hour and didn't even get a match that felt playable because of this kind of thing. I'm not asking much, I just want to play proper matches. And yes, I do report them, but I don't think that does anything, really.

I'm going to try and play one last match before calling it a night. I don't even mind dying, I just want a proper game.

Same here, though I feel it isnt always just the survivors fault for wanting to quit. Some killer designs cough Skull Merchant, Knight, Nurse and even some perk combos are quite boring to playing against. I would understand them wanting to quit because of that but if its for stupid stuff like going down quick but your still winning, theres no point in giving up and pissing off your teammates. I agree w/ u, people need to be punished for doing this.

Mm hm. The map is terrible, and whenever i see it, im dodging

  • @PlatinumSerenity said:

I want to preface by saying that I'm open to having my mind changed! This is just where I stand on the issue currently.

The video shows a game I recently played in which 2 survivors used the healing feature in the game as an exploit to allow their downed teammate to escape unscathed. It feels very similar to the exploit also under debate where Killers can instant drop after pickup to cancel a DS deployment.

In my opinion, both of these should not be possible. If survivors want to heal, they should be able to heal. If they want to crawl out and escape, they should be able to. But they shouldn't be able to do both, abuse Killer cooldowns, and get free escapes.

As for my recommended solution, Killers should be able to pickup downed survivors no matter their current state. In this case, Killers should be able to bypass survivors' healing animations by instantly picking up the downed survivor, thereby avoiding the abuse of animation exploits and Killer cooldowns.

    Thoughts on this?

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/SBETAZX07LB1/exploit-evidence.gif

Your kinda right, idk why a survivor interacting with another would prevent the killer from a pick up. Honestly tho, i think survivors who heal at the gate should block the gate from them as punishment for preparing for a save attempt in a safe haven. I feel like having an opened gate and a hooked survivor near it basically garuntees an escape for all survivors if they heal and bomb rush hook. Just an opinion tho

  • It doesn't matter how big it is if it has zero good pallet loops. Also its very narrow on each end of the map

  • @WolfyWood said:

With the recent Twins update can we all finally admit this is a dumb thing to say and admit that Wesker is a much healthier benchmark so BHVR stops with these reworks?

    No

  • @Optx said:

I understand it's a hard thing to police but, why is it permissible at all?

Anyone could stream themselves purposefully bleeding survivors to death for weeks freely. Potentially even getting other players banned for harassment in the process, given players tendency to react to blatant toxicity. Is this really only absurd to me?

edit because nuance is hard: There are obvious exceptions, of course. I'm solely talking about situations where blatant toxicity is at play.

I believe this is a punishable offense, if the killer is able to kill you but chooses not to and wastes your time (key words) which is technically holding the game hostage, therefore a reportable offense. It may not be a permanent thing like killer bodyblocking in a corner, but its still ignoring main gameplay.

  • Nurse's skill ceiling is massive, you cant compare billy to nurse like that, as she ignores everything normal killers would have to go through

Yes we need this, give it immediately PLEASE!!! It should be like mobile's slightly opaque non animated overlay, still letting u clearly see where the objective occured and the auras around it. Plus mobile has off screen arrows too, core doesn't for some reason.

  • Remember theres only 4 vaccines, nemo's whip is essentially treated as a 3rd health state at first, which is when he can do the best to tier up his mutation. I'd say leave it

  • Ik how to avoid curves and i would expect my teammates to as well seeing as I get killers that are good but never good randoms, but thats off topic. The problem is his speed, he can catch you before reaching a fixed object or loop, which will let him hit you with an insta down, FOR FREE without even needing to know how to curve. Yes, billys who aren't even good do this, i looped a billy doing this on rancid for a whole minute and a half on a TL and haybales, it really isn't hard to do and theres not much I can do to hold them off for long.

I guess maybe a more fair change would be to allow insta downs only after a cooldown of sorts, high speed insta downs readily available always is not balanced, though that still wouldn't fix his high speeds for returning to previously downed survivors

  • @fulltonon said:

Not any I know of, and shouldn't be nerfed at all.

Getting sawed four times is 100% survivor's fault, his chainsaw isn't something you'll get hit that often.

R u saying that slugging is difficult to do? (Its not)

  • What im saying, bubbas got a cooldown, why not billy who is far superior to bubba? His mobility is crazy good for slugging with infectious, gear head, lethal and discordance. It just ends games way too fast and its really boring to die to people who know and abuse it

  • This actually happens often, about 3 times in my past 25 games or so a billy has done this. All they do is slug and snowball with overdrive and aura perks, its really unfair especially against solo q

This post might be quite lengthy, but I’ll try to keep it as short and to the point as I can.

I’ve been playing DBD since 2017 and David King was always a character that jumped out to me. I’m from Manchester (England) and I found it so cool that David was also from here as I’ve never seen that before in a video game, as normally when a character is British they’re from London. Seeing how much detail the developers put into his perk names / quotes was amazing, as I never imagined seeing things like “Dead Hard’ and ‘No Mither’ being used as they’re just such niche expressions used in my home town.

I’ve grown up around sports and they were always something I excelled at during my time in school. Rugby was always my thing and then I got into kickboxing during my college years and now I’m a full-time Personal Trainer, which is just a dream job.

Since about the age of 7 I’ve known I was ‘different’ - I had girlfriends as that was what my family expected from me. Being anything other than heterosexual wasn’t ever discussed in my family. Men got with women and women got with men. That’s what I was brought up knowing to be true. I felt hollow for the longest time as I was living a life that I didn’t feel in control of. I was in auto-pilot for a long time, just doing what was expected from me and not doing what I actually wanted to do.

I went on a journey of self-discovery at the age of 25 when I realised that not allowing myself to be authentic was slowly killing me and it couldn’t go on much longer. I came to the conclusion that I was not a heterosexual male, but I was in fact a homosexual male. Being so heavily involved in sports for all my life just felt like I was locked in a cage. It’s no secret that that world can be deep rooted in homophobia and hearing some of the comments fellow teammates would make, just didn’t leave me feeling safe enough to be my true self. I loved sports and didn’t want to give that up and I felt like if they knew the real me, I’d be disowned. These feelings also lead back to my family. My mum was always talking about grandkids and how she couldn’t wait for me and my then-girlfriend to have them. I just had such an immense pressure on my shoulders to stay in the closet, but it eventually reached a boiling point.

When I did eventually ‘come out’ I got my fair share of bigoted comments from people I once classed as friends and family. Some didn’t understand how I could possibly be gay, because I wasn’t effeminate and had girlfriends. Which really boiled my blood. I didn’t realise somebody’s sexuality was a personality trait? Why couldn’t I be into ‘masculine’ things and still be gay? It never made sense to me.

Now this brings me back to David. Him being gay just resonates with me so damn much. We almost feel like the same person now. Some people don’t understand why representation is important, but this is why. If I had a character like David King whilst I was growing up, it would have made it a lot easier for me to accept who I was and realise there was never anything wrong with me.

I truly appreciate what Behaviour has done and I hope that the increase in representation we’re seeing throughout the media will make it easier for the youth of today, as my childhood / teen years truly felt like hell.

Thanks for reading and I’ll see you in the fog.
