Why does a killer need "consistent counterplay"? If its consistent then the survivors basically get to dictate how the encounter goes. That's what makes bad killers no? You've got to look at the whole picture.

F to my original comment, seems to have been deleted...

Personally, I'm okay with killers not having consistent counterplay. Killers like Spirit and PH are really fun to play imho. However, I think the issue comes from their ability to shut down the best defense a survivor has (loops) so quickly, and with what feels like nothing a Survivor can really do about it. 'PH put his sword in the ground? Well, I can either get hit with the shockwave or get hit with an M1. Eitherway, I will get hit. Deathslinger quick sniped you? Well, he does it so fast you can't really predict it. Spirit is standing still? Well, there's a chance that she's phasing, and a chance that she's not. Either way, I have no idea what I can really do besides walk away and hope she either doesn't hear me or isn't actually faking it.'

It's just frustrating to play against, which is where the complaints come from. It's not fun to be put in a situation where it's a lose-lose, and both sides have things like that.

Tbh I don't mind a killer not having consistent counterplay, but you gotta admit that killers like Deathslinger, PH and Spirit who have little to no indication as to when they're gonna use their powers are going to be more annoying to play against. As a Survivor, playing against something like a Wraith at a fair pallet (like the car pallet in front of the school at Badham) is fun. We can both try to mindgame each other, and do fakeouts.

I think the issue just comes from the lack of showing that they're going to be using their power. A Deathslinger can practically instashoot you if he's good, and as a survivor, it kinda feels like you just got juped because you had no opportunity to really try and outplay him. Same with Spirit and her ability to stand still at loops, or Pyramid Head putting his sword in the ground and setting up a 'Get hit from M1 or get hit from the ground attack' scenario. None of them really take much of Survivor's looping skills in question. (Which, I should clarify- I'm not saying that's a bad thing. I actually don't really mind. Those killers are really fun and rewarding to play, and do require some skill and practice. However, the way they work does make it frustrating to play against, which is where I think a lot of the complaint comes from. It does really suck to feel like you got punished for playing well- and it's a feeling both sides get from time to time.)

Stealth is just a bad mechanic. You're not good at the game because you can hold control while at a patch of grass. It's not outsmarting or outplaying the killer when you literally cannot be seen while front and center on the killer's screen.

The game isn't designed around a time dynamic that allows for walking through every little patch of grass to see if you bump into someone. If you want to stealth, hide properly and keep moving to stay out of line of sight.

Also killers don't have "tonnes of opportunities" to look for person squatting in a bush, they're on a constant time limit, and any perks that assist with it have strict requirements that usually aren't "when you're just looking for someone, show their aura."

While I do agree with this, it is a bit frustrating to see. With there being so many tracking perks, while still lacking some really nice hiding spots, the game isn't always the nicest to your non-Blendette stealth survivors. And tbh, with there being a lot of killers right now that pretty much require you to be stealthy, I would prefer to see a bit more stealth plays available that weren't so build dependent. (Maybe I just get unlucky, but I've had a lot of killers who will check behind every rock.)

Dont know how i feel about people wanting to emoving bloodlust, but im hyped for clown. and i think Keys and Moris need reworks asap.

I hope if they remove bloodlust, if it's only after they remove more safe pallets. I think bloodlust only really gets to be nasty when you're failing at playing around an unsafe/fair pallet as killer.

    We don't need representation.

Stop forcing your identity politics where they don't belong.

I mean, with how many characters there are that have quite a bit of lacking lore, and the fact that the Devs themselves have stated that you can see these characters however you like (such as Autistic), I don't see how people seeing the characters as LGBT is pushing identity politics where they don' t belong. It's not cannon, and it doesn't effect the game/lore.

I’ve seen some arguments on Twitter lately so i was just wondering what the take on it was here.. personally I feel like there the characters shouldn’t have set in stone sexualities (lore clearly stating this is who they are and how they identify) I feel like it should be left up to the player to decide.. that way there’s room for new ships and what not..

although here’s how I personally would identify the characters.. I would love to hear feed back so feel free to lemme know if you agree or disagree with anything - !!!!!! EDIT: THIS IS MY OPINION AND IM NOT SAYING THIS SHOULD BE CANNON !!!! SORRY IF IT DOESNT MATCH YOURS !!!!!!

    dwight - gay

    meg - bi

    claudette - straight or asexual

    jake - straight/possibly pan?

    nea - lesbian

Ace - straight (although he’s a bit flamboyant he strikes me as they type to be a bit of a homophobe)

    Feng - Straight

    David - Bi

    Kate - straight/bi-curious

    Adam - Straight

    Jeff - Bi/Pan

    Jane - Pan

    Yui - Lesbian

    Zarina - Bi

    Felix - straight/possibly bi?

Personally, this is how I see them-

    Dwight- Straight

    Meg- Straight

    Claudette- Asexual

    Jake- Gay

    Nea- Bi

    David- Straight

Ace- Maybe Bi? Haven't thought much about him tbh.

    Feng- Bi, leans straight.

    Kate- Straight

    Adam- Straight

    Jeff- Straight

    Yui- Bi

Felix- Haven't read his lore, so not sure where I stand on it.

  • I feel this. I want Rule Set Number 2 to be Base Kit. She just needs some really minor adjustments and add-ons changed around a bit and she'll be great.

  • Tbh there's quite a few killers I wouldn't mind seeing nerfed (Spirit, Oni, Deathslinger, Freddy), but I'm worried about killers being nerfed into the ground. (I'll always love you Nurse.)

Honestly, I think Legion, Pig, and Myers need the most love right now. I do think map reworks will help all of them though. I'd love to see a Nurse buff too, honestly, but I don't think that's gonna happen. I really miss cooldown-less Blinks.

  • Gotta disagree. As someone who's played a solid 50+ hours since crossplay has come out (Might be closer to 100? I honestly don't remember when the feature came out), I find it to just change on a player by player basis. There are some really good high level SWF squads on console, and there are a handful of really good console killers. However, I've found most of the survivors who are console I've played with tend to be amoung the stealthy variety (which is totally fine, I love stealth) and terrible at chase. Or, they're overly altruistic, and make bad plays because of it. I've also noticed on both sides that the game has a weird latency issue with console. Might have just been their internet (Obviously I can't ask them), but I've gone against a lot of really laggy console players. Not quite sure how common this is for anyone else.

  • Lol why is it a picture taken from your phone of your screen instead of a screenshot?

  • My game crashes at Mori's because I generally play in a SWF that runs majority off-meta perks with little coordination, and with two generally two players who are still within their first hundred hours of the game.

I'd rather sit through ten minute queues again and have more time to do something else or talk to my friends then get frustrated over watching as me or my friends get hooked, tunneled, and then insta-killed by an Ebony Mori on a Forever Plague. Or a Deathslinger who can hit his shots (AKA: his only counterplay is walls or to just not get found 4head) with the most meta build you can run. Or, or, my favorite one from yesterday, after Blight came out- a Spirit with a complete meta build who would tunnel off hook. That I only didn't DC for because I was hoping it would be Blight.

Yeah, no. If there's a secret offering from Killer, the game is gonna crash. I'll only run Mori's on my killers if I have to for an archive challenge, and even then I'll apologize in end game chat. I'm playing for fun, and getting only 5k BP when Survivor already gets starved for BP? No point in playing that match.

Yes, but his power doesn't help in loops. He can get the first hit, yes, but that's about it.

Think about Nurse, her power potentially allows her to get the initiative hit and the down.

Same thing with Huntress, 2 hatchets, done. Spirit as well.

Imagine if Nurse's Blink Hit only allowed her to hurt the survivors once, and apply the Deep Wounds, THEN every time she Blinks and Hits, it's another Deep Wound + Fatigue.

Imagine Spirit's Post Phase hit would apply Deep Wound, every post phase hit would apply Deep Wounds and it will not allow Nurse nor Spirit to put the survivor in the dying phase, only a regular M1 can do that.

His power only allows him to get the first hit, then after that it's all on the player if he's good at mind gaming, or catching the survivors off guard because he has nothing to help him in chases and no power to help him get that second hit.

    I hope I made sense.

Don't forget that even whenever you use his power for blocking things or tracking, you lose it immediately if you dare hit someone who's already been hit with Deep Wounds, and your fatigue and power regeneration is trash.

I love Legion to death, but his power is pretty much worthless in high tier.

  • My queues are the same on Survivor- a bit longer on Killer though.

TBH I think there might be a server problem, because my game will go between normal and acting up really badly...

  • I don't think DS is necessary, but it is nice to have, and it's in a good spot. I dont run it too often with Survivor, but when I do, I always get value out of it. (Not sure why, but Killers like Tunneling the good 'ole P3 Steve thaf hit 'em with the Head On stun.)

Whenever I do play killer though, I honestly will just delete people from the game as quickly as possible if they don't have DS. I don't face camp or proxy or anything, but I'm not going to let you get the unhook in my face scott free. If I come back to hook because I can't find anyone (It's a hard life when you're 50+ on a killer and still don't have Tier 1 BBQ) and you run right back into me, you can go back up on the hook.

Sorry @ all the Megs who've done this, but it's okay- you'll go home soon.

  • Hey OP! Let's remember to link to the OG artists with posts like this instead of just reposting their artwork- even if it has a watermark, it's still a nice thing to do!

Here's the artist's Twitter- they do more amazing work and have commisions!

    Take a look at JayJester (@JayJesterArt): https://twitter.com/JayJesterArt?s=09

  • Gotta admit, I'm addicted to the really dumb, off meta perks.

Namely Flip-Flop. God, I love Flip-Flop. It's a very dumb perk. But there's nothing like getting slugged, and then crawling away, and then struggling out of the Killer's grasp because the hook is too far away. It honestly brings me life. Does it happen very often? Not at all. Is it really fun? Absolutely.

Usually my build is something along the lines of Ace in the Hole, Plunderer's Instinct (these two are my guilty pleasure), Flip-Flop, and some random perk. Sometimes Bond. Sometimes DS, sometimes Slippery Meat- depends on the day.

I really love Fixated as well though. Really fun to run- pop that on with Quick and Quiet, Head On, and DS, and it ends up being a really fun meme build.

  • Gonna be 'that guy', but I feel like this is a very gross oversimplification of the game.

The game being weighted very heavily towards killer or survivor depends on so many factors- the skill of the killer and survivors, what killer is being played on what map, what their add-ons are, what either side has for perks, what the offerings and items are, etc, etc.

At it's highest level at base, yes, the game is heavily Survivor sided. If you're playing a sub-par (or just misplay) against a sweaty SWF who treat every game like a tournament, you're either going to have to sweat your ass off, DC, or get bullied for ten minutes.

However, at the same time, not every game is sweaty SWF. And when you do play those games with really good add-ons against good (but still not 100% optimal or coordinated) survivors, and it can be an absolute massacre.

Personally, I play both sides (Rank 1 Survivor, Rank 4 killer rn). And my killer games are a mixed bag, depending on the factors above. My survivor games, on the other hand, solo-queue or not, are generally along the massacre side. We usually only get a 1 man escape, and we'll get a few 3 man escapes a night, but it's rare to see anything more then that.

So yes, Survivor is the power role because the Devs push the idea of this being a 'competitive' game, but when you bring key competitive aspects into it (like comms) the system breaks. Outside of that, the game is really well balanced, and in a lot of ways, it is killer sided. (I get why killers do it, but man does it suck to be facecamped at five gens as you watch your other survivors eat beans in the corner instead of doing gens. Or to get mori'd off of first hook because you were found immediately at the start of the game, made a bad play, and then got tunneled and now have less then 5k points to show for the match.)

The game isn't really strictly sided one way or another imho. There's too many things that make the game random (along with fun and interesting to play) that changes the game so much on a match by match basis, that it's just shifting based off the match.

  • Casual 100%. I do think that there is an argument to be made for seeing this game competitively (because there are really cool competitive DBD tournaments!) and there is a built in rank system, but the rank system is pretty bad with how inconsistent it is, and it has no rewards for being at high rank. (If anything, it just makes the game worse, since then you get tilted from trying to get better in the messed up system...)

Honestly, the game should be balanced competitively, but the game is best played for fun.

  • Tbh I just wanna see an Ebony Mori rework. I'm chill with the other two. (Though I will admit, Green letting yoh kill someone immediately off hook is p nasty.)

  • Myers might be Daddy but I'd call him mommy if he asked

  • Question is too open-ended. Imho they shouldn't be bannable offenses (like, if you're in the end game, killer doesn't have NOED and has one guy on hook and hasn't gotten a kill all game... let him face camp. It feels really ######### to get no kills, and they already won't be proud of their game.) However, I do think there should be better deterents for face camping, especially in early game (like, you get your first down and immediately start face camping with five gens left when there isn't a single survivor within miles of you). Because honestly, I do think it's ######### that the system rewards that in the early game.

  • Clown definitely needs more help then Freddy, I only voted for Freddy because I find him so much more boring to play against tbh. But I would love to see my girl Pig get a buff.

  • Personally, I don't mind DC's- on Killer's side, it can be really funny, and it gives me more of a reason to meme around with Survivors. On Survivor's side, it's kinda the same thing- I play the game to have fun with friends. I don't mind if a rando DC's, or anything like that. To me, it means I can get out of a match faster and move on, and they can probably go and hopefully have more fun in their next game faster. I do wish there was more of a system to assist Survivors when a teammate does DC though, since I will admit, it does suck to sit in queue for a while only to get someone DC and barely get bloodpoints from it.

Tbh I don't think it ruins the game enough for me to be against it, and I just find it to be funnier then anything. I don't DC myself though- unless it's a Mori in the Offering's Screen when I've gone against like 3 in a row. (But at that point, can you blame a guy for wanting a break?)

Though I will say OP, might wanna work on your wording next time. Not the best way to constructively talk about this.

  • I agree with the sentiment though, the matchmaker is pretty broken on killer's side. Don't know how it is with the current patch (Don't think they changed it though.) But I've had games as a low-rank killer where I'd be put with Rank 2 survivors (Not even SWF) and get shat on because of it.

  • I agree with the Kindred changes, but otherwise, I don't think there really needs to be much more to counter camping. Few killers can actually do it well, and good survivors will just gen rush the killer to get out. Besides, killers who do camp get much less points overall, and a lot of time, it's the survivor's own fault if they let the killer get a 4k off of them. I've always considered camping to be one of those things that takes low skill, but can get a high reward if the survivors you're playing against are sluts for altruism.

  • Personally, as a Survivor main, I don't have much issue with Spirit. I run Iron Will + Spine Chill constantly anyway, because they're really great perks for solo queue. (Allows you to get a head start on hiding when a killer is coming your way, and a way to help hide if you manage to break LoS mid-chase/can't find a teammate for a heal.)

But I would love to see Spirit get something to visually show that she was casting her power. Similar to, well, every other killer in the game. Currently she's the only one who doesn't visually cast her power on Survivor side, which is what can make it so annoying during chases. Something as simple as seeing her do the little animation you see on her side when she casts it would be a nice and simple fix, while still allowing her to do a pallet mind game.
