this will be a very bad change... survivors won't stand a chance anymore against killers

What do you mean? How can this make that much of a difference. You're being fatalistic

  • @Ohlookahook2 said:

If killers can break whatever wall they want I'm done. No more dbd for me.

Why? What's wrong with it. It's a cool feature for a horror game

  • The matchmaking has been especially bad lately and I completely feel for you seeing that you're a rank 17. Im a rank 12 and I go against all red rank survivors normally (Ranks 1-4). It has to do with several reasons. One, there aren't enough red and purple rank killers to go around, and two, survivors are generally much higher rank than they should be from playing against killers much lower ranked than they are (a problem that makes itself worse over time). OhTofu did a good video about his theories on why matchmaking isn't great and it has to do with several innocent sounding changes to the way matchmaking is done and the way rank reset works. I really do feel for you because games like that you feel completely powerless

  • Especially considering the number of endgame perks available like NOED, Blood Warden, Remember Me.. the game is not over when the gens are done

  • Killer wait times are insanely low on PS4. When I was first starting the game I felt like I had to play killer just to not waste time even though survivor I think is easier as a beginner. But even now I know I'm not high rank and can't speak for those guys' wait times but I get a game usually in under a minute. Survivor queues can be 20 minutes or more though

I don't get why survivors have such a problem with slugging. You're not getting hooked, that's a good thing. I can understand if the killer slugs like 3 or 4 of you at a time, but if the killer leaves you on the ground to chase someone else that's 1 less hook for you in most cases. I slug people all the time just so they don't die because I'm nice like that.

If you hook them you're a tunneler, if you leave them on the ground you're slugging. Obviously the only option is to let them wiggle free and have hatch

  • @ChiTenshi said:

*Requires max charge to apply instant-down.

    Ohh that sounds nice

  • So is low player count the reason that when I play killer the survivors are consistently at least 5 ranks higher than I am? It's kind of unfun sometimes to go against people who are clearly better than I am although you still get high rank potatoes

  • @inferjus said:

This game won't die for one good reason: it is the best cat-and-mouse game out here (which doesn't mean it is a good game).

I mean its competition is basically Friday the 13th which sucks way worse than DBD ever has and custom games in shooters, which is basically where the idea for this game came from. We used to play a game called Michael Myers in CoD world at war that's pretty similar to DBD

  • @Pepsidot said:

There are potato teammates all the way up to rank 1, there is no escape.

    Death is not an escape

  • Color blind mode for aura reading. For the love of all that is holy make it so gen auras can be changed to another color. If you think people will use it as a """crutch""" you're ######### braindead #########.

  • In my experience playing killer on console isn't that bad. I have my sensitivity turned to max and I don't have problems getting 360'd or aiming hatchets. I think nurse is rather difficult being able to spin rapidly enough but I think she's just as hard on PC. I'd say PC makes it a little easier to turn and follow survivors but I really don't feel like I'm being hindered by the joysticks. Huntress is my favorite to play just because I've played enough CoD in my life to be pretty good with the hatchets. I'd say most people who talk ######### about playing on console haven't played it much.

I will say though there is frame stutter that isn't in a lot of other games. The game is definitely not optimized on console but it doesn't make it unplayable. I kind of wish they gave us options to turn down the graphics to improve the stutter but they only want people to see the nicest looking graphics

  • @MAV said:

If your average match is 3-5 minutes as a red rank then you are doing something terribly terribly wrong... If that's a dramatic exaggeration, then what else is an exaggeration?

I also main survivor... Sometimes I'm unluckily... Very rarely am mori'd... And most matches last over 10 mins if not more...

Yeah being hyperbolic doesn't convince people you're right it just makes it sound whiny

  • I think the devs seriously need to consider the amount of BPs survivors get. On PS4 it takes like 10 minutes to find a survivor game and they get half as many points as the killer. Killers find games nearly instantly. I think the problem is Killer needs a huge incentive to play just because it takes much longer and is much harder to get good at compared to playing survivor. I'm not sure there is an easy solution

  • Who the ######### thinks hooking people in the basement is toxic? I just don't get why there are so many killers who have given into the survivor mentality of "playing by the rules." Since when is this game about being nice? The basement has been and always will be part of the game. There is nothing wrong with it. Do you all really obey the survivor rulebook and never run noed and never hook in the basement?

  • @DwightOP said:

To many survivors are hanging around red ranks but are absolute potatoes. They waste shack pallet against Legion in frenzy mode, urban evade at the corner of the map etc, suicide 1St hook etc

It's easy to pip as survivor, but very difficult as killer in comparison. Low skilled survivors verse high skilled killers and you will get these statistics.

However, when high skilled killers verse high skilled swf groups, then you can consider yourself lucky killing one of them without ebony mori etc

Ranking up as survivor is way too easy I agree. Red ranks mean very little for survivors but a red ranks killer is probably a sweaty menace.

  • I think that 2k being the perfect balance is the wrong way to look at this game. It's not a horror game if two are likely to escape every game. A traditional horror movie has 1 survivor and I think that's the balance. Id say killers are appropriately powerful and need absolutely zero nerfs outside of killer specific complaints

  • I always do it so I can quote SpongeBob and say "soiled it! Soiled it! Soiled it!"

  • It comes down to the fact it's impossible to punish a killer for this without preventing him from playing the game normally. Name a restriction on the killer that doesn't actively punish them and make it very easy for survivors to exploit for easy hook saves constantly without borrowed time. If you don't want to be tunnled, hope your team runs BT and you should run DS. Seriously come up with a way the killer should be punished and I'll show you an easy way for the survivor to exploit the killers inability to punish that for fear of some kind of bloodpoint loss or something similar

penalizing for gens done during a chase? That’s an ignorant statement. Considering a survivor will always be chased while gens are being repaired. As a killer main, I drop a chase if it lasts too long. If you’re not smart enough as a killer to do that and they knock out gens, that’s your problem. There are also perks to counter gen rushes. Ruin, Thrilling Tremors, Corrupt Intervention, Thanatophobia, etc. Killers have plenty of counters to survivors and vice versa. The topic is penalizing hook camping and tunneling more. You can’t penalize a survivor for looping when that’s their only survival tool besides hiding.

    He's being sarcastic I think

  • No Mither should be a bloodpoint perk. It has barely any function. It's like a ######### unbreakable and a ######### iron will as well as a hindrance in most situations other than a perma tier 3 myers so you have dead hard immediately. David King should just be the bloodpoint character. I feel like that's the only reason No Mither doesn't give a big bloodpoint bonus is because he already had We're Gonna Live Forever and they didn't want to double up. But the way I see it you're playing with an arm tied behind your back for big bloodpoint gains

  • I'm surprised Huntress's Lullaby is F tier. I'd say it's at least D tier because if it gets charged up it's harder to hit than ruin sometimes if survivors can't find the totem or the killer defends it hard enough

  • Nothing hurts my soul more than being on the hook and seeing two people self caring near each other. Most of the time they can't self care in time to save me or the killer shows up and snacks them after a 30 second heal. Self care is a hindrance to the team

Not sure why I can't just say how I'm not happy with the chapter, no one would blink an eyelid if someone made a thread saying "love new chapter!" and didn't list why.

Lol because you made a post all about not liking it and now you're getting upset we are asking for reasons you don't like it. Do you not like the Oni? Or Yui? Or the perks? Or anything? Or are you just complaining for the sake of complaining?

  • Lol complains about the new chapter but doesn't even know enough about why they don't like it to say anything. This post is a waste of time

  • @LetsPlayTogether said:

So youre really complaining that people are outdoing game mechanics, while you do literally do the same? Iam not saying thats its right do plug out the cable, but you shouldnt be so entitled to get you 4k, cause thats not how the game is designed.

Oh my God slugging for 4k isn't exploiting the game. How can you possibly think slugging for 4k is remotely similar to DCing. Slugging is meant to be a viable strategy in DBD. It's why we have deerstalker and knock out. GTFO if you think slugging should result in DCs because DCing is straight up quitting the game in shame

  • I recently had a daily ritual to kill a survivor by my own hand and decided to make it more of a challenge and use devour hope. Took me three days to get a single kill with it because survivors would cleanse that ######### almost instantaneously. Without fail it would get popped around 2 tokens. I almost never made it to the third token and if I happened to do it without a survivor just stumbling in on it then once I was insta-downing it would for sure be cleansed within a minute. I eventually got a super lucky game where they three gen'ed themselves right next to my totem so I could easily keep pulling them off the totem while still paying attention to gens. If it wasn't for that really specific situation I might not ever have gotten the kill. I'm sure now and then people get lucky with the totem spawn on certain maps but most of the time devour hope seems like a complete meme to me

  • @konchok said:

What's worse is that because the grab fails but it looks like it's successful by the time you realize that you were robbed of a grab they're halfway across the map

Holy ######### I picked up a survivor out of a bear trap once and made it all the way to the hook before I realized "oh ######### there's nobody on my back"

  • Yeah man it happens. Don't feel bad. Survivors are the worst in this game. They feel entitled to have an easy game with no surprises when this game is designed to be a hard game with lots of surprises. They can get #########. Anyone who messages a killer with salt for anything other than revving a chainsaw in their face on hook or slugging one guy and just watching them on the ground until they bleed out then they should feel ######### dumb

Anything that involves escaping under certain conditions is going to have people who fulfill those conditions and then go hide in a corner for the rest of the game to make sure they're the last one left alive.

Escaping/4king within a certain amount of time won't encourage abnormal gameplay, I grant you, but it will encourage optimal strategies such as tunnelling or genrushing, or the use of powerful items such as keys and ebony moris, all of which have a reputation for making the game frustrating and unfun for the opposing side. It's also very much dependent on the other players and/or luck, which I believe is one of the chief complaints people have about the current challenges.

Lasting a certain amount of time during a chase, again, is very much opposition and/or luck-dependent. It also encourages the use of "infinite" loops (again, perfectly acceptable but not fun to go up against) and even exploits, since you can bet people will be doing whatever they can to win the chase, just like they're doing with challenges right now.

Vaulting windows during a chase will have people throwing chases just to get as many vaults in as they can before they go down, similarly to the problem that the pallet throwing challenge in level II suffered from.

I'm not trying to throw cold water, just trying to prove the point that whatever challenges they come up with, people will pursue them without care for anything else, and will go out of their way to throw matches or to make their opponents' and even teammates' lives miserable for the sake of completing the challenge. Some of this stuff is fine if it only happens occasionally, but when it's every other match it gets demoralising for the other players very quickly, and we're back to square one.

Thank you for actually being a voice of reason. It doesn't matter what challenges there are people are going to go out of their way for challenges. The only way to avoid it is just have no challenges and I don't want that

Pretty much this. It's a goddamn shitshow since the first Survivor challenge is to unhook someone safely, so everyone just hook rushes with Borrowed Time and the game ends with 5 gens done.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/872304#Comment_872304

There's a difference between "escape the trial with a unique perk" and "drop everything to play as a healbot and hope to god that the stars align for you to get 4 heals."

Also it's funny that you mentioned "antichallenge builds" because I literally just got out of a game with a farming Trapper who just put traps down for us to step in them. I think he was doing the 4 Trap one cause very few people have gotten that far in the Rift, but I've already seen people running stupid builds just to do the challenges. (Again: spamming Borrowed Time to unhook people)

Well he sucked at his challenge if that was his best bet to go for the challenge. You're complaining because a killer basicallt threw his game going for a challenge and probably didn't get it. How does that affect you?

To be fair, I can't think of a single challenge they could have implemented which people wouldn't have rushed and ruined the game for other players by focusing on the challenge instead of playing the game normally.

Exactly! It doesn't matter what challenges they picked survivors would be going out of their way for it. If the challenges are doing totems then people are going to go out of the way for totems, if it's unhooking people are going to bum rush hooks, hell if it's doing gens people will start complaining because the survivors are doing gens instead of going for hook saves. That's the nature of everyone having the same challenges at the same time. People will do those challenges and then will be back to normal

  • I was really disappointed how easy all the first challenges were because I basically never had to focus on getting the challenge the just happened naturally while playing the game which I don't think a challenge should do. I'm used to trophy hunting in my games so I'm so glad to have challenges that give me that same level of needing to focus and work for them. Some people want challenges to be handed to them in one try

  • If killers were only averaging 50% kills then I'd say that means survivors are too strong. Survivors aren't supposed to be making it out as a whole team every game. You're supposed to swear to make it out against the killer, that's what the whole purpose of a horror multiplayer game is

  • @Johnny_XMan said:

    What are you talking about.

Trapper can easily get the killer one. In fact I did it with the doctor yesterday. 3 hooks at basement actually.

What exactly is toxic about hooking someone in the basement? I don’t get it.

It's in the survivor handbook, you aren't allowed to hook people in the basement and of you do you're supposed to run and hide in the corner and let them escape

  • @Dr_Loomis said:

Thing is I personally haven't got time to grind. I have other, more important things to do and the truth is the reward for completing the challeneges is minor.

Oh well, lesson learned...no more Premium crap for me.

If you don't have time to grind no one is forcing you to pay for something that requires playing the game a lot. If you don't have time then don't play the game. It's not a grind though, they are challenges. They are completely optional. What did you think the challenges would be???

  • I just don't get it. We finally get challenges in DBD and people are complaining because they can't finish the challenges on their first try everytime.

  • Dude two hooks with NOED is easy stuff. It doesn't happen every game but all the time you can get one NOED hook and then someone else will be too altruistic and get ######### by NOED too. Maybe you should try to, idk CHALLENGE yourself??

  • What the ######### are you complaining about? These are normal ######### challenges there's nothing wrong with this. Are you mad because you have to use monstrous shrine or because you have to use NOED? What's wrong with that? I seriously don't know what you're complaining about... Yeah this game has balance problems all the time but you aren't offering any solutions you're just complaining

  • This thread sounds incredibly whiny. I don't think the challenges are challenging killers to do anything shady. It's not like theres a challenge for "facecamp a survivor" or "kill a survivor on their first hook." Getting killed in the basement and getting killed with NOED was already part of this game. This isn't going to ruin anything. And guess what the nurse got nerfed and you're still complaining. You sound like the salty survivor meme everyone is making fun of
