I'm not really digging it either (though I'm not entirely sure why as i had liked the original Lights Out mode).
I was going to give it a few games just to see if I would settle into it or not but I just realized that you need to have The Castlevania chapter bought to get one of the items in the Lights Out Tome, which is super lame. So I probably just won't even bother since doing the Tome doesn't really get me anything like previous special event Tomes would…

Oi, get off my doorbell you lil punk!!!

We have seen what happens when this game has had the DC Penalty removed
The game becomes borderline unplayable as it's a damn miracle to get five players to stick around…
-
She seems to be getting The Feng Treatment where it's not so much Feng/Sable that they hate but that BHVR just abandons any character that they can't immediately sell to a bunch of horny teenagers. Sable just gets the current major batch of hate as she's the current face of that trend.

if I can recall you used to be able to years ago but they changed it to the last survivor just auto dying
Yee
My understanding is that they changed it because many survivors would just hang there and not do anything. Basically just wasting everyone's time sitting there instead of of trying to Kobe and letting the game end.
It does kind of suck for the rare situations where someone has Deliverance and could auto-Kobe but BHVR chose the QoL change of not wasting our time over the 1/1000 chance of Deliverance being in play

Matches can wildly differ pending on so many factors that you can see on this very forum "Killers are OP, plz nerf" and "Survivors are OP, plz nerf". It's not that one side is lying while the other is telling the truth, it's that people can have very different experiences in this game pending on SWF v Solo (as your team or as your opponent), the killer being used, the map you're on, or hell, even just the region of the country you are in (for example, as someone in Midwest America, I rarely run into tunneling/camping but you talk to someone in a different part of the country or another country, they'll say it's tunnel city).

I'm super excited. I LOVE Supermassive Games (I've played all The Dark Pictures series, Until Dawn, and The Quarry).
I likely won't get it ASAP as I'm trying to be smart and playing backlog stuff but I plan on getting it at some point.

Either the survivor should not be able to do it, or the killer should also be able to do it. Am i wrong?
No, I 100% agree. My preference would be that survivors lose the ability rather than the killers gain the ability.
-
Half of me thinks this is totally fair. While not nearly as irksome as they once were, Bully Squads can still make the game absolutely miserable and get you to a point where you're just done.
But on the other hand, survivors being able to do that when the littlest thing goes wrong is ruining the game and giving one more player this option just adds to that...
-
Since you can use BP you gained using any character on a different character, I don't think it means a single thing.
I hate The Nurse but I could P100 her without ever having to play her again.
-
I saw a tweet by a DBD player that I think encapsulates my thoughts perfectly. I wish I remembered who it was and I'd post it but you'll have to be good with my paraphrasing:
"No I am not responsible for your fun but that doesn't mean I should also be a [Censored Word] to my opponents either"
-
I got it with Kindred and an EGC camping killer. So using Kindred should work cause I only had kindred equipped for aura

Jax was just adopted. That was fast.
-
I'm of the mind there is only one situation where slugging is Toxic and that's slugging someone and bleeding them out when there is no reason for you to do so (namely the last survivor at the end of the game).
It's not very nice and is super boring to slug at 5 gen or whatnot but as long as your goal is attempting to win the match, I don't think it should qualify as toxic.

honestly that’s just how the game is
I do kinda wish they’d do a giant perk update again and do like 50 of them on each side
They did that huge perk update like…a year ago
I was kind of hoping that was a sign of things to come because there are a lot of meh perks but alas…

We've had time periods where the DC penalty was turned off
It was absolutely miserable
Just because now they'll be controlled by bots doesn't make it much better

I don't try to give up my item if there are others but if my teammate is being a useless rock hiding in the corner when it's 2v1, I just hop on a gen and wait for the killer to come kill me. I don't get off the gen, I just let them hit me.
Sometimes the killer will realize I'm the only one doing something, sometimes they won't. I'm not mad at them if they decide to just kill me and get this game moving along but I certainly appreciate when the killer realizes I'm the only one doing stuff…
-
I don't get why these video games have us "relive moments from the film". I've seen those moments, they're in the film. Give us something new.
-
Without video we can't say 100% for sure cause there are a few odd combos and situations of perks that can get a survivor that fast but that wouldn't last for very long. If you're not catching them over an extended period of time running in a straight line, they're almost certainly cheating.

It's more fun than being tunneled/camped in regular mode. In 2vs8 you can have good/fun chases a lot. I have been looping killers lot more in it than in regular mode. I wish you could do pallet/flash saves and dh/variety but it's jut otherwise way more enjoyable than 1vs4 and in future it will be lot more variable.
Maybe it's just my MMR luck but I never have any real issues with being tunneled/camped in regular mode (it certainly happens but like…1 in 10 games kind of thing).
Again going back to maybe just my MMR luck but also the killers I'm running into in 2v8 mode are…really….REALLY bad. I run the dude who does gens faster because no one seems to want to do gens in that mode and I've run a single killer literal minutes just chaining loops and pallets as there are so many of them and these killers fall for the most basic 101 Mindgame plays.
I've basically just stopped playing the game at this point. I try to trash my daily each day to see if I can get a survivor daily but otherwise just don't have it in me to sit there for 5+ minutes waiting for a match. Maybe I'm just spoiled but I don't want to sit there for 5+ minutes waiting to play.
-
😠
I guess I'm glad for people who like it but I do not understand the appeal at all. This mode is boring AF for me as a survivor and only has a handful of killers that I don't like and/or are just simple and boring.
All well, maybe I'll just come back next week when the regular queue isn't gutted by 2v8...

I've had the opposite problem. When someone is caged, it feels like EVERYONE is rushing to save. No one is on the generator as five people sprint to the cage...

I kind of assume the rescue shut down or something with how long we had no cats but we're back baby!

Ah see, I look at it completely different way than you do..
Although I didn't play at all during the weekend so idk how it was with the Free players that may have been different/worse.
But when I play Survivor I'm playing Medic most of the time, or Guide, or Scout depending on what the team needs.. I feel like "Escapist" is the most similar role to that what people normally play in 1v4, however, I find that type of gameplay extremely stale and boring after all of these years.
In 1v4, we are able to play "Medic" style gameplay for example, however, it doesn't feel good because realistically it would actually still benefit the team more usually to just play for gens and loop. Similarly in 1v4 if I were to play a full Gen build like "Guide", it could work, but I would be lacking defensives to survive and therefore I might find myself too weak to enjoy it or get much value out of the build. I feel like in 1v4 the game is limited to 1 style of "meta" gameplay in order to feel effective.
In the 2v8 Mode, I can actually spend all game being a "Medic" and running around unhooking and healing my teammates, and it actually feels useful to the team, because there are enough other players left to do Gens to power the gates, and help each other.
So when I play 2v8 as Survivor I'm actually enjoying completely different gameplay than when I play 1v4 and I'm thoroughly enjoying it, breaking up the routine is nice. I haven't tried playing Escapist yet because that seems kind of boring to me, and I'm not the best Scout either (though it is fun trying to chase Killers around) but when I play Medic or Guide, most of my team including myself usually Escape even in Solo Que and I'm usually in the Top 3 and felt like I was very helpful in the game.I had started out playing medic. Commonly I was the only one on the team with Medic. But you know what happened?
Everybody else just went for saves anyway. It hit a point where I decided F IT and just turned into the Generators Class because no one ever seemed interested in doing the damn generators. The classes seem to be slight suggestions at best to the player base because nobody seemed to be doing their "role". They just did whatever they wanted to.
But then on the other side of that coin…
The times people DID do the generators and whatnot, we steamrolled the killers.
So it's kind of like the problems of 1v4 but magnified; RNG plays a huge part and you're either going to get slaughtered because the RNG gave you a bunch of survivors who have never played the game in their life before OR you slaughter your opponent because the game gave you competent survivors (they didn't even need to be very good I found, just competent and do gens).
As stated, I didn't play a ton as the mode soured on me REALLY fast.

What don't you like about it? I think playing the classes/roles is really fun and helps the Team win very easily if done correctly.
I'm really surprised more people don't enjoy it.Every game has gone one of two ways
The killers have no idea what they're doing (or whoever is running against them is really good) and I don't ever see the killer for the majority of the match
The survivors have no idea what they're doing. Skill checks constantly being missed and chases taking about 20 seconds as the killers just steamroll. Then somehow I become the only one on a generator even though there are supposed to be seven survivors with me…
Now that the free weekend is over, maybe the 2v8 mode will be better but even without those two issues, there's just not a lot of uniqueness for the survivors. I'm doing the same exact thing as the 1v4 mode except I'm hamstrug because I don't get to run whatever perks I want so what's the point?
Chaos Shuffle and Lights Out hamstrung you (unless you were REALLY lucky in Chaos) but they were unique and had flavor. This mode is just DBD with two killers I have to watch out for instead of one. Not really all that unique unless the two are joined at the hip and I need to figure out how to run and loop from two bad guys at once.

Yep im having the same problem since 2v8 dropped.
2v8 isn't just ruining the game, it's ruining the forums too!!!!

I said when people were clamoring for it to be permanent before it even released; if BHVR can't find a way to get survivors on board, the mode is going to never go anywhere.
So far, that prediction feels 1000% accurate. BHVR can throw all the BP Bonus it wants at survivor but overall, most players seem to not really care for 2v8 on the survivor side. It's just really not fun for survivors and it does take two (or eight) to Tango.
I know the game spiked in player usage when the mode was released but I will be very curious to see what happens those numbers next week as the novelty for killers wears off (or even if it doesn't, the 15+ minute waits turn people off so much that they don't bother anymore). A mode that is bonkers popular but only for one side is a mode that can't survive.
Along with that, if you're so desperate to make a mode work that you have to fill it with bots because your players have no interest in playing the mode, your mode has failed miserably.
-
My very first killer match was myself as a Huntress. This is a character that I do not play often (I had a daily and wanted to try the 2v8 on the killer side) and I'm on console so I'm about as handicapped as I can be going into this mode
It was an absolute slaughter
None of the survivors felt like they had any idea what they were doing. Failed skill checks, survivors who ran in straight lines that even I can hit, and survivors with no map awareness at all just running themselves into corners and open spaces.
The 15 minute wait was bad enough but there wasn't even a fun payoff at the end of it. It was like playing basketball against a toddler.
-
If you need to make bots play your game mode because no actual players want to play it, that sounds like the game mode has failed miserably.
-
I thought that seemed harsh
Then my 2nd game, the Billy I was with played for about 1 minute before they just stood still the rest of the match
Now I don't think your suggestion is harsh enough!
-
Awesome, a 15 minute wait only to have a teammate killer play for about one minute and then go AFK the rest of the match…
This entire mode is a cluster F and I will be very pleased once it goes into the garbage bin where it belong. I'll do the bare minimum to get whatever prize I'll get for doing Page 2 of the Tome and then wash my hands of this stupid mode forever.

Quick and easy BP. Fast lobbies and fast bp.
Maybe others would be game for that but I would much rather have a good game than a really crappy game but get a ton of BP because BHVR made it 20000% bonus :D
I suppose noob players who need BP might jump at that but not me
-
I can't speak for everyone but there is not a bonus level in the world that would make me want to play survivor in 2v8

We are not lacking survivors per say. Its because killers finally get to team up. People that don't normally play killer that are survivor mains get to finally play killer because they have a friend that is a killer main they can play with. The mode is just very popular as we all knew it would be. I say GOOD! It will be permanent.
I suppose we'll see soon enough since neither of us have access to the data so we don't know what the hiccups are but I'd be shocked if survivors didn't just straight up abandon this mode once the Tomes/Novelty of the mode wears off.
-
Nobody wants to play as survivors for what feels like pretty obvious reasons. There's just not a ton for survivors to actually do. The unique aspect of this event is getting a second killer to help you but 4 survivors, 8 survivors, 500 survivors, it makes no real difference in the gameplay for survivors.
It's what I said when the mode was announced and people swore it needed to be permanent; the mode isn't going to gain any legs or traction if no survivors want to play it and right now, even with a 400% BP bonus, there's just no real reason to play as survivor once you have your Tome done.
