  • Why are people suddenly complaining about the "lack of content" when we just got a huge license with 2 survivors and killer-- especially after a majority of the forums were calling for less chapters per year?

This is a good thing. It means more time devoted to the actual improvement of the game.

You don't need to know how many totems are done. You can wait for it to activate and then find it. It is something that you just have to keep in mind of, just like killers do when they chase anyone. Only, killers have to do it on a larger scale, with multiple survivor perks, with multiple survivors.

Should they tunnel the person that was just unhooked? What if they have BT and DS? Should they slug someone and go after the injured survivor trying to blind them? What if they have UB? What if the injured survivor has SB and DH? The killer has absolutely no way to know if a survivor has a perk until it is too late. If it is okay for one side, it is okay for the other.

As for your comment about Iridescent head, the devs never came out and said anything against or for it until they decided it was a problem. Yet, with NoEd, they have repeatedly spoken in favor of it. Though, if given enough time, I can see their minds change in order to appease all the whiners who want an easy game.

McLean did acknowledge IH as a problem years before it was actually changed, as did most of the community. The devs actually do acknowledge stuff as a problem a long time before they change things... for some reason. The devs also speak in favor of things that aren't healthy for the game on a semi-regular basis. Do not use them as a reliable reference, a large chunk of them are very inexperienced.

If I had a token for every time someone on these forums used a argument centered around whataboutism to justify their weak point I could literally buy a majority of BHVR and just delete NOED lol. I'm going to ignore the point if someone does it again, so this is the last time I'll address the comparison.

Unknown survivor perks usually do not have as large and powerful of an effect that NOED does, nor do killers typically have to waste nearly as much time in comparison to survivors do will killer perks, especially those that are totem related.

The argument "just find the totem" is again, weak, because at the end of the day, if there's only one totem remaining, that totem is probably pretty hard to find, in some random spot that no one would reasonably check (looking at you, Treatment Theatre, Backwater Swamp). If you could just "wait for it then find it" then survivors would have just... found the totems earlier.

No, they're there as a way to slow down the game. Against competent survivors, NoEd would only give the killer one down/kill. You don't play this game enough if you think otherwise.

You absolutely don't deserve a win just for holding M1 for most of the match. Average survivors should have 2.5 gens done before the killer gets their first down. You only deserve to beat the killer when you exit the match, nothing more and nothing less. Completing gens is only half the battle. You deserve to die to NoEd if you and your team can't distract the killer long enough to cleanse bones.

This is also a paper thin argument because survivors have absolutely no way of for sure being able to tell how many totems are done without a specific perk.

  • @Huge_Bush said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2455708#Comment_2455708

It is only one lit totem after the gens are done.

The Devs did include dull totems. They obviously want people to cleanse them, otherwise they wouldn't have kept NoEd as is for as long as they have, nor would they have buffed small game and introduced a new tracking perk as well as new hex perks.

You're not obligated to do dulls, but you're not obligated to have an easy escape after holding M1 for most of the match.

You’re technically right but this is a paper thin argument considering Iridescent Head went unchanged for 4 years.

  • I have to do it...

If I see one dead hard in the game, I begin tunneling hard 🥵and sometimes camping&slugging 😤😫(if I can afford it)😑, just to spite them😈😈. Dead hard is one of the most toxic 🤢and unfair 🤮perks which grants survivors several extra lives per trial for free😡😡😡. To me every dead hard is a spit in the killer's face🤬, and every survivor picking it is doing so to bully the killer🥶. Nothing more satisfying than seeing all those cocky dead hard users getting 4k'd 🤗😎😜🤣and then wondering "why did you do it?????🧐😱" in the end-game chat.🤧💩

  • Your stuff is so dope!

Would like to hear your interpretation of Trickster's Trailer/Intro theme or Cut Thru U (Single). :)

    This is a copypasta right?

  • Because a large portion of the DBD playerbase are complete hypocrites addicted to whataboutism and translate that into their gameplay.

Also be tryhard DBD can get tiring after a while. I hate when people say “sWeaTy DbD iS bORInG” (they’re 100% the first people to watch Otz’s 50 win streak vids) because it’s actually really exciting in smaller bursts.

I agree, but I'm trying to find something the devs might realistically do. Tier 1 isn't that bad if stalking goes faster, and stalk point reserves could be uncapped

The idea is fairly realistic. The devs have shown that they can do bigger overhauls (Freddy, Boob, Doctor, etc.)

Frankly, I don’t think minor adjustments to killers like Myers are very forward thinking, and they’ll only highlight his issues even further. Myers’ design in current DBD is inherently flawed.

  • Make blades 7 to damage.

Require survivors to pull out blades to decrease Laceration.

Replace Main Event with a music ability that instantly raises everyone in the Lullaby's Laceration meter.

  • I've never seen a Dwight unironically hide in a locker. They're either the best player on the team or new.

If the perk is there its meant to be used the whole "you shouldn't bring a totem finding perk" is just imo a lazy person's excuse. If noed in your rank is a big problem bring it. Step up to the plate and cleanse totems or wait till the end of the match to find them. Problem is though if you wait at the end and get hit with noed then what was the point of remembering the spot? When you could've cleansed it right then and there but like I said its a risk that you can choose to take.

Because it's not uncommon for the last remaining totem spot to be either extremely hidden in some random dark corner or near the killer. Unless you know or will know all the totem spots it is usually more detrimental to cleanse totems early.

  • @Raccoon said:

I do not struggle with NOED as a solo survivor.

Additionally, only one of my 3 builds runs a 'totem hunting' perk.

If NOED activates and the killer is camping, I'll take a quick look around for the totem and leave if I can't find it.

I usually cleanse 2-3 totems on my own, per game, when I'm not running my Det.H/HO/QQ/IS build.

When I'm running it, it's usually a guaranteed 3-4 totems....5 if the killer is playing really lax and/or struggling.

When I do play with my pal, she cleanses totems as she sees them, too.

NOED doesn't really impact any of my games in a meaningful way, regardless of what rank I'm playing at (usually Red depending on available time, but ranks are currently meaningless, imo), as a solo survivor - It honestly does not even activate in a fair portion of the games I play, and it's not even selected in an even larger portion.

Your struggles, or lack thereof with NOED is pretty irrelevant to the discussion. The talking point is supposed to be that NOED can overly reward killers who were otherwise severely underperforming.

Oh, so we shouldn't have to be forced to bring in perks to counter other perks? So then you agree that something must be done about gen times then right? I mean it'd be pretty bad game design if a killer is forced to always take a gen pressure perk just on the chance that someone either brings a BNP or has Prove Thyself right? Again I agree.

whataboutisms is not helping your argument

though most experience survivors would in fact say that yes, gens should be changed

  • DBD Killers Fun To Face Tier List.png

About time I made one of these.

    Hillbilly

I'm always elated to go up against a Hillbilly, especially if they're really good. I will usually give Billy the kill if I have the chance to escape. Un-nerf Billy!!!

    Mostly Fun

    1. Oni - The only thing that keeps Oni from the top tier is that Demon Strike sometimes is hitting you through a wall and you get downed. Otherwise, a pretty fun killer!
    2. Blight - Only thing about Blight is that the flickers are pretty annoying and some of his add-ons I don't like. Otherwise, top tier.
    3. Bubba - If there wasn't a large population of NOED camping Boobs, he'd be top tier with Billy.
    4. Demogorgon - The pallet shredding thing as well as the over abundance of people using Save on Demo Lovato is the only thing keeping the goodboi from top tier.

    Sometimes Fun

    1. Myers - A few BS add-ons. No one likes getting hit with a tombstone or infinite Tier III. Teammates do screw over other by feeding stalk fairly frequently. Otherwise, a pretty fun killer.
    2. Red Pyramid Thing - (bet you weren't expecting me to use that name lol) I don't like his pallet play, and his ability to tunnel from cages is extremely frustrating sometimes, but still a pretty fun killer.
    3. Nurse - If only average Nurses played, she'd be top tier. Too many Nurses that slug for 4 mins with Ruin + Undying + Infectious.
Skipping over the "just okays." They all have a few mechanics I either don't jive with or are just fairly inoffensive all-around.

    Usually Unfun

    1. Wraith - Just generally overplayed and boring to face.
    2. Trickster - Everything fun about Huntress being removed is basically what playing against Trickster feels like.
    3. Ghostie - PERHAPS IF I COULD ACTUALLY REVEAL HIM :)
    4. Deathslinger - Hashslinging Slasher gameplay be like: fake aim fake aim fake aim fake aim fake aim SHOOT DOWN

    Boring

    1. Freddy - Fredward Benson gameplay be like: snare loop snare loop snare loop snare loop drop pallet snare loop TELEPORT DREAM WORLD snare loop down
    2. Twins - Victor is just so annoying. Spending so much time either on the ground or getting camped by Victor is so fun!! /s
    3. Clown - Finger Lickin' Good gameplay be like: bottle loop blind bottle loop blind bottle loop blind

    Spirit

    Spirit.

Following at thread of mine from the other day, I noticed that DBD forums posters are really bad at engaging in any meaningful discussion, and it gets very annoying, and completely ruins many threads.

So-- with that being said, here are a few friendly suggestions when engaging with a topic so that discussions can be actually interesting, insightful, and on-topic.

    1. STAY ON TOPIC, PLEASE
      1. This is usually why the thread sucks. Someone starts an argument and the entire thread is just two people arguing. Whether you started it or not, quit arguing about something not on topic, take it to private messages. :)
    2. ACTUALLY READ THE POST
      1. It's actually extremely baffling how many times I run into people that don't read the contents of the discussion, just the title or a few words. I guarantee you many misunderstandings and points of contention would stop happening if people just took the time to actually read. You are engaging in a discussion by your own will. Please absorb all of the information presented.
    1. TRY TO UNDERSTAND THE VIEWPOINT OF OTHER SIDE
      1. This is like... basic Debate 101. Appealing to the other side either gives you opportunity to strengthen your argument or exposes the flaws in it. Instead of saying "I'm right," "No, I'm right," thus, turning things into a mere pissing contest of who can farm the most upvotes from the side that agrees with them, think about why people are presenting their argument and account for all of their points.

Can you at least try meaningfully engaging with the other side, or are you hear to just be childish and scream "noed fine do totems" without adding anything to the discussion?

  • The gates can just spawn right next to each other.

  • @Hoodied said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2453507#Comment_2453507

This would mean to start playing it safe, anyways with No Way Out it won't be such a big issue if he never got a hook ever as by default the timer is super short anyways, if he got hooks and randomly AFK'd this would mean he is going to do an endgame build

Always play it safe, thats my word in this

I don't get why people are so opposed to the advocation of a version of NOED that encourages the killer to perform well and engage with the survivors... like pretty much all of the other Hexes do. Like No Way Out does.

  • @Iliketoplaykiller said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2453487#Comment_2453487

And most people who are using noed either are playing a killer that they are inexperienced with or are new to the game. I'm using my personal experience because realistically all my totem perks are gone against red rank survivors. Its not like newer or inexperienced survivors are going to stay stagnate at their skill level, eventually they are going to learn. Especially if noed is a perk that bothers them as well. But most survivors would rather run all the most meta perks rather than losing 1 perk slot to counter something specific they don't like.

Either way, if they don't perform well, why are they suddenly getting a game changing effect?

This argument is going in circles. The talking point is why NOED can even be used when the killer does nothing to earn the kill.

  • @ggallinftw said:

NOED rewards lazy killers who camp in the way that a key can reward a survivor who spends most of the match practising their crouch walk. Neither are fine unless you are of the belief that doing nothing should be viable and rewarding.

Bring detective's hunch and a map.

If you have a problem doing totems that on you. Enjoy slamming on gens and dealing with NoEd

This isn't about me. Stop saying "you."

You totally ignored what I actually said, BTW. Wanna try that again?

  • @Hoodied said:

"If a Wraith can just run Bitter Murmur, No Way Out, and NOED and sit in the corner the entire game until the gens are done, then just go around and one-shot slug the team to death, NOED may be a problem."

If he does this literally go and break all the totems, and if NOED is this problematic try using the abundance of totem perks we have

Not the point of my argument, Hoodied. It's the fact that the Wraith literally did nothing and got use out of NOED.

Besides it would be fairly reasonable to assume the killer is just AFK and players would try to get to the next match they can actually play ASAP.

  • @Iliketoplaykiller said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2453464#Comment_2453464

This goes back to the point that someone else made earlier in this post, if noed bothers you that much then run a perk. Most of the average players in this game know most totem spawns like negan mentioned above. Perks like ruin are literally taken out within the first minute of most of my killer games because people know spawns. It really isn't that hard to counter it unless your taking the "gen rush" start and focusing gens.

This isn't a post about my personal experience with NOED. Don't use me as a talking point please.

A majority of players are newer to the game and at lower ranks so this simply isn't true. They won't know the totem spawns, they're only finding some of the totems that are very easy to see.

  • @bjorksnas said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/275594/im-so-sick-of-hearing-noed-is-fine

Wraith can't do that since base no way out only has a block timer of 12 seconds they would need to play the game beforehand to get 60 seconds of gate blocking

Depends on the positioning. If it's something like an even split, 2 and 2 at a gate. He can probably down the 2 in time to get to the other gate.

  • A majority of players are in lower ranks.

If a majority of players knew all the totem spawns NOED would never activate.

  • @Iliketoplaykiller said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2453444#Comment_2453444

Realistically how many games do have you had to "throw" to cleanse though. On the same note how many of those games did anyone actually run a perk to counter it.

It's really RNG. If everyone's bringing totem counters then everyone's committing their time to that. You can't coordinate stuff like that in most games so you're likely going to end up wasting time.

  • No he's right. People keep making the argument of just doing bones like the survivors are a SWF when a majority are not. If your advice is taken, everyone's wasting time looking for totems. On the flipside, no one is doing totems. You simply cannot reliably coordinate getting rid of totems in most matches.

  • @I_am_Negan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2453429#Comment_2453429

On most maps yes I do know.

Ones that I don't or I'm still trying to remember I use detective's hunch and a map and burn a offering to go to that realm.

    Okay, here's a better question.

Do you expect the majority of players to remember all the totem spawns?

  • @Marik13 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2453124#Comment_2453124

I mean...if Bubba is face camping in the basement and you guys are slamming gens and not running down to the basement like friggin' Door Dash, then you guys pretty much have the win especially if you do gens away from the basement. Yeah it's gonna suck for whoever is on hook, but hey it happens. Regardless if the killer has NOED in this situation or not, there's not much he can do to turn that around if he decided to stay in basement and wait until all the gens were done. By the time he gets halfway across the map you guys on the farthest door will are already halfway to escaping.

TL;DR: NOED is fine. Stop being bad.

Not in this scenario, no. There would still be at least another gen to do with that sort of time frame.

I play killer. Stop making this about me lol.

    It's not a hunt if

    1. You use Detective's hunch and a map.
    2. Remember where they spawn at. It's just that Simple.

It's not hard I play solo I can't get the totems while gens get done.

    You just don't want to.

I suppose you know all 70+ spawn locations across all maps huh. Very realistic.

Should I just remember the RPD spawns, the random corner of the map Grim Pantry spawns?

Or do you expect every survivor to run a map and totem perk in all their builds?

Very weird argument over just making NOED require hooks.

    Double standard much

Not you bringing up the other perks when this topic isn't about them. *clown emoji* smh my head

It's not a double standard. The post isn't about them. Stay on the topic of the perk being discussed and quit it with the whataboutisms.

Do bones. If your issue is camping, or not being able to locate bones easily while genrushing an afk Wraith, those are your problems. I'm actually an advocate for NOED being slightly watered down and made basekit...

Gotta love when people didn't take the time to properly understand the argument.

I'm only gonna say this one more time since this is getting annoying. The problem with NOED is that it requires nothing from the killer to activate for such a strong effect.

  • @Mozzie said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2453273#Comment_2453273

I read your post. I understand where you're coming from. The design of this game is simplistic, you can also make an argument that a majority of the survivor perks used do not earn their effect. Many of which can be game changers.

As with all Hex perks, NOED could be a completely wasted perk slot. With how popular ruin/undying still is in the meta by doing bones you can terminate two of a killers perks very quickly. The whole point of a Hex perk is it's supposed to be a high risk vs reward. If you'd like to revert NOED back to it's 120 second origins non-Hex I don't think you'll hear too many arguments from killers.

TBH that almost seems preferable but it still has the issue of requiring nothing from the killer for such a strong effect.

The way I feel about NOED is the same way I feel about if Devour didn't require hooks, or if Myers could use a Tombstone without stalking. It's unearned.

  • @EldritchElise87 said:

Your problem isn't how strong the perk is, your problem is it being used by killers you perceive to be bad at the game, the actual effect is perfectly counterable, honestly if NOED popped after a normal, 6-8 hook game with no camping and survivors on death hook as they leave, it wouldn't feel as unfair.

But because in this scenario the bubba is facecamping (and ngl some people do use it like this, its just that its not the strength of the perk that's the issue) so you feel like you outplayed the killer and the downs he got with noed are cheap or unearned.

Theres no way around it unless you drastically change how the game works or just straight up remove the perk. Just do bones and live with it.

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ THIS IS MY POINT

If the killer has done nothing all game then can suddenly gain a kill or two just because NOED activated then that's cheap. If they're getting hooks nd pressuring survivors to get through gens and it's a surprise NOED, fine.

An easy fix IMO would just be require the killer to do 4-5 hook actions to activate the perk.

Does Dead Hard, Unbreakable or Decisive Strike requires something something from survivor other than perk slot?

    This is a NOED post.

    Stop bringing up keys.

Stop bringing up other perks. My god.

Dead Hard requires timing and chase knowledge as well as for the survivor to be injured.

Unbreakable requires other survivors to distract the killer to get any use out of it.

DS requires the survivor to be recently unhooked. They can't use it any time they're picked up anymore.

    These arguments are terrible.

"No perk should create unwinnable scenarios" Good. So DS, DH, BT, unbreakable, soul guard should all go

EGC ? Person with BT blocks and denies a kill you should have.

They go down ? It's ok. They either crawl out or you pick them up and get DS'D

They mess up and greed a pallet of vault a window you mind gamed ? It's ok. They have dead hard for distance.

    Unwinnable, unwinnable, unwinnable

You should be able to get 2 hits before they unhook if you're nearby. That would be a trade and wouldn't deny the kill. This argument doesn't work at all if the savior is injured. That'd just be an extra kill.

This argument only applies if they have Unbreakable or DS at all and assumes the hook is near the gate. Can't recover and move closer either so DS can just be waited out.

People always use this argument, I'm not even gonna address that because this is a post about NOED.

  • @lemonsway said:

What's the problem with NOED? Open the gates and get the fudge out... If the killer gets more than 1 kill because of NOED then survivors played a very bad EGC.

Why are people saying EGC like NOED only activates in the EGC?

  • @Starly said:

Mate, you're argument is very bad. Hypothetical situation where a perk wins the game can be made about many perks and most of them would be perks of survivors. Dead Hard, Adrenaline, Decisive Strike, Unbreakable and more. Should we nerf these perks just cuz they can be abused? Heck naw. Most situations if killer runs NOED, means they are very new to the killer and want some kills and if that's the case then it's survivors fault for not doing bones. I'm not forgetting about the other side of toxic killers who want survivors to suffer, but as I said before survivors can do the same to killers.

It isn't about how the perk can win the game. It's about how it requires nothing from the killer in order to get any use from it. Your counterpoint doesn't apply to my argument. Your argument is bad.

  • @Yui_TheBeauty said:

NOED is fine. The problem is survivors don't want to counter it. So they come to the forums and cry. Hoping the devs will remove the perk. The last few patches there have been many buffs/perks to find totems.

Detective's hunch, small game now has a totem counter, Inner Str heals you if you cleanse a totem and hide in a locker. Pinheads perks inflicts a status affect until you cleanse a totem that you can see from like 16 meters. I secretly think the devs are trying to say "Cleanse da bones"

The "just bring x perk" argument completely ignores the contents of the post, by the way. It's a lose-lose scenario.

If NOED isn't in use, that's time wasted on something that isn't gens.

If it is, that's still time ticking down on the survivor left on hook and the others can't do anything about it until NOED is cleansed.

If you didn't see it before, in simple terms: NOED creates unwinnable scenarios in the killer's favor. No perk should do this.

I love how you're using an "unwinnable situation" to try and make an argument about NOED 😂.

My friend. Bubba doesn't NEED NOED to secure that second kill. You as survivors will not be able to rescue the second person. NOED or no NOED

Trickster, Huntress, Spirit, Freddy. The situation won't change with any killer. If the survivors a camping killer with NOED will get a second kill either by camping or because a teammate unwisely traded.

I find it peak DBD forums that the first two responses are literally "NOED is fine."

I hate this site so much.

If NOED is fine, keys are fine

Both require very little and offer a high reward

Both allow you to bypass something, in the killer's case it's a whole health state (and increased movement speed) and in the survivors case it allows them to either leave before all the gens are done or without opening an exit gate.

    :)

Your implication is that NOED is fine only because keys exist which is a terrible argument which also implies that I think keys are fine, which I don't.

Keys are not fine, and neither is NOED. This post isn't about keys. Try again.

NOED is fine, the problem is the survivors didn't cleanse every totem. And I agree with @PalletsAndHooks response as well.

Did you... even read the post?

NOED is fine. Do bones or risk a challenging EGC. It takes up a whole perk slot that is situationally dependent. It's hardly earned, but it's been paid for. Survivors shouldn't be moping around during EGC.

A killer being able to get at least 2 free kills from doing absolutely nothing just because NOED exists is not fine. NOED should require the killers to actually perform suitably to get any use out of it.

Also, it doesn't activate during EGC, it activates when the gens are done. What are you talking about?
