That sounds like a bug. It absolutely should have let you leave without penalty

My serious, measured suggestion for game balance is that a 1-1 aura read for survivors shouldn't be in the game
The killer should never get punished for bringing aura perks by a survivor getting free perma wallhacks at the same time, that's not in tune with game balance
Object giving free chases forever because your killer perks read auras is a ridiculous concept and never should've made it to live
Hey guys what if there was a survivor perk that gave you haste every time the killer got haste. Wait no that's ######### stupid. Wow
Even on a base level object working the way it does should be obviously worth criticism
I'm making comments now that people are going to repeat verbatim if object gets even a little more popular than it's niche usage right now
Let me get this straight. Your serious suggestion, which you have fully thought through the implications of, is "it would be unfair for someone to get the amount of aura reading that I was getting." Is that right?

Then why are you complaining about it? It's a terrible perk in 99/100 cases.
Something I've come to realize is that a bunch of people come to these forums because they want to vent after having had a rough game of DBD, but they don't have a discord server with a dbd ranting section they can go to. personally I'd rather see serious, measured suggestions for game balance, but WCYD

Shack is valuable because the killer needs to break it. The fragile pallet breaks when dropped, meaning the killer doesn't need to break it

Would love to know specifics here. Which aspect of the Franklin's change isn't playing well for you?
Not really changes so much as some of the new perks feeling a bit too niche in how and when they might be used - Toughen Up feels like you're depending on your teammates to know you have it and play around you to get value (favoring SWFS while being underwhelming for solos), and the setup and stipulations on Conviction make it feel like an overall less useful version of Unbreakable. I've yet to actually play the PTB though, so maybe the use cases will become more apparent with actual testing
-
Some of these changes look phenomenal. Others feel a bit "if you stun a killer from the northeast on a day with a T in its name," but I'm imagining those will mostly be ironed out. Overall solid stuff here

I could maybe, possibly get on board with this if there wasn't already an overabundance of killers queuing up, and if players were given all killers by default instead of having to grind dozens of hours or pay real money in order to get all of them.

Ntm I’m so tired of hearing “you’re not supposed to win every match.” That’s the biggest load of crap I ever heard.
well i appreciate the honesty that you think a 100% winrate for one side should be feasible.
To the development team: I think this may unironically be the most important feedback thread of the year so far (but not for the reason the OP wants it to be). This is the attitude of people who do not want anti-tunnel measures or want them to be ineffectual. Do you want to cater to people who believe that their side winning every game, in a multiplayer PVP experience, is healthy?

I think it isn't meant to be an emphasis on the yellow bottles so much as feeling like they accidentally emphasized purple bottles too much and wanting to make them feel equal. Obviously if they actually managed that remains to be seen

Otz's Hardcore Survivor challenge is one of the most disgusting things in the DBD content creator sphere. A group of players that literally play for a living create smurf accounts to bully a bunch of baby killers, then upload it as "content" for all the world to see. It's the single reason why I refuse to watch any of their content.
refusing to watch otz because you recon he bullies killers is one of the takes of all-time (incidentally, one debunked by watching the very video series you avoid otz in protest of).
besides, in the most recent hardcore survivor series they didn't even go against a single legion, so your earlier point that they stomped all the legions they went against doesn't hold much weight. oh wow, they stomped all zero legions they went against? how telling, i say sarcastically

personally i think holding the ctrl button (or whatever's bound to crouch as survivor) should let you limit your movement speed to walk speed. this would have two purposes: first, sometimes around ledges you want to not go rocketing off the edge and having a way of cancelling momentum that isn't using the lunge slowdown would be nice, and second, i want to be able to look at the survivor and then walk off dejectedly when i get pallet stunned as chucky

Being near the killer reduces the speed at which you gain crows, I assume by half, so it therefore takes 4 minutes to get 3 crows and lose pathing

Tunneling exists because of a fundamental imbalance in the game's design. A killer is forced to manage four coordinated players, each with unique perks and strategies, while being alone and under constant time pressure. If you try to play 'fair' and avoid tunneling, against decent survivors or SWFs, you lose. Not sometimes — consistently.
The idea that 'you’re not meant to win every game' only holds if survivors are equally restricted, but they’re not. They can use the strongest perks every match, coordinate in voice chat. Meanwhile, killers are expected to play with a handicap — avoid tunneling, avoid camping, avoid slugging — and still somehow win? That’s not balance. That’s wishful thinking. And tunneling is counterable. You can hide when you're on second hook, your team can bodyblock, you have perks like DS, Unbreakable etc… and good pathing can waste a killer’s time. So let’s stop acting like it’s an unbreakable tactic. It's just the only consistent way to control pressure in a match where the killer has fewer tools than the survivors. You want less tunneling? Give killers more map pressure, better regression tools that can’t be instantly countered, and incentives to hook multiple people. Until then, tunnel stays — not because killers want to, but because the game forces them to.tunneling increased when they buffed gen kick in 6.1, your theory is disproven by historical precident

Then if should be easy for you to name the changes that specifically are a carrot for not tunneling.
You should mention those instead of stalling by listing of the Age of my Account instead. chop chop.
6.1 saw an increase in tunneling despite base kit buffs to killer and buffs to many killer perks - and despite claims from a number of players that buffing killer base kit would reduce tunneling.
Grim Embrace, a perk whose activation condition is to spread hooks, was buffed to provide over a minute of total gen block, and killers still choose to tunnel to a point where BHVR have put anti-tunnel on the road map. Those are just two examples I could remember off the top of my head.
I bring up the age of your account because I find your requests for me to name buffs to non-tunnel-related killer strats to be incredibly disingenuous. You've been around for times when killers had it FAR worse, you should by all rights know of many changes that benefitted non-tunneling play styles.

What carrot? What changes have been a carrot for not tunnelin?
You joined these forums on November 27, 2019. I know, therefore, you must have been playing since at least then.
Can you seriously think of no buffs to [things that are not, in and of themselves, tunneling] between that date and today?
-
@Emeal said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3956113#Comment_3956113
ofc you dont, but it IS the most efficient way to get it done. Unless you run certain perks.
And it shouldn't be, and the devs have said they don't want it to be, and they've tried making it less appealing to tunnel by buffing other strategies with the result being that killers use those other buffed strategies alongside tunneling. Which brings us back to the entire point of this thread, giving killers who tunnel the stick, because the carrot isn't working

If you want to argue that Tunneling isnt Killing a Survivor, then I really dont know what to tell you. Its just categorically incorrect.
You don't need to tunnel in order to kill a survivor. It's just like how dining and dashing is illegal, but eating at a restaurant isn't. Saying you got arrested for "going to a restaurant" is dishonest when it's how you went to the restaurant that got punished

That WOULD be punishing the Killer for doing their job, because that would be discouraging the Killer from doing their job.
The role is called Killer, not Tunneler. You want to tunnel, call up Elon Musk and apply to the Boring Company.
-
@Daniel_Silva04 said:
Terrible idea. It makes no sense to punish the killer for doing his objective.
It's not "punishing the killer for doing [their] objective" though. It's rebalancing the game so that behaviors that Behaviour (heh) want to discourage, are actually discouraged. If you don't tunnel, this won't activate, and if you do tunnel, deserved lmao
Punishing killers for doing their job would be like, losing BP for every sacrifice or something

Fun Rodent fact! Although Humans are one of the only animals that menstruates, the Egyptian Spiny Mouse also has a menstrual cycle. Which raises the question: If rats had smartphones, would they use cycle tracking apps?
-
I think it depends on how you see the game.
I don't really care about winning in DBD, but I don't want to let down teammates who might care. So, for me Survivor is more stressful because I need to worry about playing clean so as not to let my team down, but when I play killer I don't really care if I win or lose so it doesn't really matter to me and I don't particularly feel any stress about it.
If you are invested in your killer results, or if you don't assume your teammates want to win and play accordingly, your reaction might be different

I got a 10 game win streak in Dota once by spamming pos 5 Crystal Maiden and doing solid support builds. That was pretty cool.
10 games as a win streak for killers in DBD wouldn't even register unless you were doing some other crazy restriction.
Maybe if there's a strategy that lets people get hundreds to thousands of wins in a row without a single loss, it's worth looking at tweaking that strategy to be less oppressive.

it was a hyperbolic remark. The argument from killers is that the game is not balanced when you add survivors who know what they are doing to the mix and it is true. All these super powerful tools they have been giving survivors are all fine and good for the average survivor because no offense the average survivor kinda sucks. But when you put those tools in the hands of good players who know how to play the game and espically when thay are on a full team it really breaks things. Often, playing an S tier or using strategy is the only way for the killer to even stand a chance against these players.
Ah, so Crogers law

I feel like Nightlight stats are a better way of capturing players with high MMR. BHVR very rarely releases stats based on MMR, so we generally don't have a view on how the top players perform overall. The thing is that people who normally link their accounts to Nightlight are players who are really inside the community and basically breathe DbD. So although people generally disregard their stats, I think that on some discussions it is valid to use it.
Counterpoint: BHVR has released some very basic, limited data based on MMR and kill rates in high MMR have consistently been higher than in normal MMR
I think the people who use nightlight are mostly survivor mains, and survivor-submitted games are more likely to have higher escape rates

the UI only has the white circle when the hook icon on the survivor is showing not when they get off the hook, the white circle disappears when there off the hook.
I did read that bit. As it turns out, "add a little UI element that the players need to notice, interpret, and react to" doesn't make the burden of knowledge any easier on beginner survivors.

Killers have to hook the survivor near a powered exit gate so survivors can just leave it 99% then this won’t deactivate BT and it’s still active during the endgame just not near the powered exit gates which gives survivors a free escape at that point in the current game.
Practically speaking this just adds a burden of knowledge that will cause new/inexperienced players to die more often while not affecting stronger players in the slightest. There's no point to a change like this except to annoy and scare away weaker players and make the game less appealing to newer players.

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3950573#Comment_3950573
Except it’s nowhere close to even the same thing you’re trying to compare 16 perks that are premeditated picks to a strategy the killer role can pull out at any point upon a hook that requires no perks. Survivors can’t just pull gen progression perks out of their pocket the moment things are looking bad.
That would be a good way to stop tunneling anytime you hook the same survivor back to back survivors get a permanent gen progression percentage added to all gens. 25, 50, 75, 100 ect%, There tunneling solved. Nobody in their right mind would do it, and now it’s nowhere near as effective.

-
Here's my perspective:
Having DC penalty tied JUST to time elapsed is a bad idea because theoretically every single match could be ruined by someone deciding to leave - they just decide that's going to be the last game of the day and they don't have to actually face any consequences. Realistically to fully prevent the worst case scenario you need to have a games played component to the penalty.
The games played buffer also needs to be greater than 5, because there are 5 players in a game. If you can freely DC once every 5 games, that's one DC per game between 5 people; every game could get ruined by a leaver with no punishment.
IDK if 20 is the right number, but there needs to be some games-played component to reducing the DC penalty. Maybe they should reduce it to 1 in 12 matches or something
"But I'm a casual player, I don't have time to play a bunch of games to get rid of the DC penalty" Consider, there might be a bunch of casual players in your game who also only play a few games every now and then, and now one of their few games was ruined because of your DC.
"If I have to wait out this super long penalty, I'll just not play" Good for you. If you don't want to play, don't play. People should queue up for DBD because they want to actually play the game of DBD, not because they want to do some random generic free-time activity.
I mean this as genuine advice, I'd rather you engage in an activity you actually enjoy enough to not quit partway through. There's a bunch of free games on steam ranging from comp shooters to relaxing hidden object puzzles. Heck, you don't even need to play games, you can get some other hobby. I learned how to make homemade marshmallows recently, that was fun. Not playing also sends the message that the game isn't fun as-is.

I wouldn't tunnel if it was a guarantee (it is a guarantee in like 99% of matches tbh but that's besides the point)
I play games because i want to play the game, not just because I want to have the result screen saying I won
-
I'm always hesitant to increase the number of things that trigger the abandon feature, because I'd rather the devs create things that discourage the defeatist attitude of "i'll just surrender" and use other means to decrease the scenarios where people have no recourse…
…but, in this case I think it's justified. If there's 2 dead and 1 slugged and the killer isn't hooking, there's not much the slug can do, so in that one case it seems fair to give them something to get out of it

Let’s break this down factually and simply:
- You wrote: “Self-Care used to be 50%” and was “nerfed now to 35%.”
- The thread, the surrounding context, and the timing of your post all pointed to the current patch. No clarification was given until after the pushback.
- The line “I’m not talking about this last patch…” was added in an edit… after the fact. It wasn’t part of the original message.
- You also claimed I must be a “new player” for not knowing what happened “now,” when the actual nerf happened on July 19, 2022… nearly two years ago.
That’s the timeline. That's the miscommunication. And that’s the misplaced condescension.
So no, the issue was never about whether the 6.1.0 nerf happened… I documented that clearly, with exact patch data. The issue was presenting your version of events with authority, misframing the timing, and then retroactively editing the comment to appear clearer than it originally was.
If you had simply written: “The original Self-Care nerf from 50% to 35% was a bad decision”… no one would’ve batted an eye. But you didn’t. You posted it in the present tense, mid-discussion of the current patch, and accused others of ignorance when your own post lacked the timeline clarity you're now demanding in hindsight.
So let’s call it here:
You got caught overstating something, tried to edit your way out of it, and now you're upset it didn’t land. That's not on anyone else. We're done. No hard feelings → just facts.
i'm gonna be honest buddy, in my opinion if someone says "why did we do [x]" i think it's a pretty standard thing to assume that they were talking about that time when you did [x] and not the current moment when you are not doing [x].

How is an endgame mori toxic exactly? Basically everyone finally agrees teabagging and sitting in the exit gates is toxic. People don't even bother to flimsily say "I just want to give a hit so the killer gets extra points, guyz!!!" like they used to
I see where he's coming from though. You sit there playing against some trash can SWF trying to be as frustrating as possible. Constantly trying to Sabo, flashlight save, contest every down, shove every second chance perk in your face, but as soon as you fight through that and get the upper hand they can just bounce. It's very unsatisfying
I don't think it's toxic. I was commenting on OP's concluding sentence:
If I am forced to watch them T bag me at the gates when they win, why are they not forced to watch themselves die when I win?
