  • "you just simply want to let go early for other reasons (rescue teammate, killer is nearby, etc) and this game has this constant state of paranoia that you don't WANT to let go because if you get one of those badly timed 7% chance skill checks you will automatically miss no matter what because the game said so, and then whatever plan you had is immediately backfired."

Its meant to be scary and risky to do things in DBD. That's why they call it survival horror.

    Its horrifying.

Shouldn't you be glad that the game can instill that kind of paranoid fear about even stopping a task. It mean DBD is doing its job instilling a great sense of fear and consequence like a great horror experience should.

I'd say you are looking at this the wrong way and should appreciate that this game can still make you feel scared and/or paranoid.

Is tunneling not a relatively unskilled way of playing? I'm not saying it isn't powerful , but how skilled is it really?

You still gotta catch the survivor, tunneling is just regular game play between the same two players.

It requires all the same set of game skills that any chase requires. With the addition of being able to find the right target to tunnel in order to maximize the impact. You don't want to chase a great survivor for 5 gens trying to eliminate them that's actually a rather bad play.

Identifying and removing a weak link from the team early is a really good play from the killer perspective and makes great sense from a game outcome point of view.

Teams counter tunneling by body blocking, taking aggro and making smart chase decisions.

All this requires both sides to apply knowledge of the game mechanics.

As far as I can see the main reason tunneling is lamented is because players don't want to be eliminated and feel unfairly targeted if they get chased twice in a row and eliminated, which frankly in an elimination game like DBD is a really silly mindset to have.

  • "why not discourage unskillful plays?" Is what you are describing as unskilled plays really that unskilled?

Its just gameplay, some things work better for one side to the detriment of the other, as to be expected, and one could make the point that a seemingly strong tactic/perk/addon (AKA unskilled) by one side is the motivation for more skilled play by the other.

I'm honored to me mentioned, but I've gotta say...

I'm seeing so many people in here talk as if either sides should give a single **** about the other's level of fun. My thread about tunneling was to discourage tunneling specifically more at 5 generator remaining, a point where a killer is at their weakest, but isn't necessarily in a position of total desperation.

There is definitely an argument to be made where going and interrupting gens and chasing another survivor is more productive than tunneling.

They shouldn't be asking. Not at all.

I mean you're not using a strong build at all, and I'd love to know which killer you're playing as in this scenario. I do applaud your stress-free playstyle though.

I'll never understand why some people get tilted over teabagging. Good on you!

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3371669#Comment_3371669

PRECISELY my point that people missed on my post. People should be able to play however they want, but why should the game not encourage more skilled plays? The idea that killers must tunnel immediately off of 5 gens remaining is absurd. While there is definitely a time and a place for tunneling and even camping in order to get kills, I think the opinion of when those moments are in regards to a large portion of the killer playerbase are skewered.

Where my suggestions perfect? Hell no, I didn't even think that while writing my post.

But, I come back to the same point, why not discourage unskillful plays? Why not encourage skilled ones (or risk taking in general)?

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3371787#Comment_3371787

I will admit that I see why killers are feeling pinned in a corner right now. I think the devs should mirror killer buffs with the new Solo-Q buffs they've put out. Ideally, Solo-Q would be as strong (or super close to) and SWF, and killers would receive appropriate buffs as well.

My recommendation is speed up killer actions again.

The game is balanced around a killrate of 60% which means you are always more likely to die than escape so yes people will rightfully blame the game

How is that "rightfully" blame the game. Its meant to be hard to survive a survival horror experience. A 10% swing over a perfectly balanced 50-50 experience is not large gap really in game terms.

Also a "handful of times" out of 50 games, while not being very descript, kind of implies less than the 40% predicted success rate in escapes so even if balanced for 60% kill rate at some point you gotta step back and RIGHTLY blame yourself.

Excuses are always easier than self improvement though, the consequences of human error is probably the more likely the reason for failure over game breaking imbalances that make it ATROCIOUS to play.

I don't get tunneled out often, not because I'm great at chases, but because I've learned to not be found first, that helps a lot.

I've also learned when to make risky plays and think of the team and when to play it safe and go for self preservation and the hatch.

Like I said at some point you gotta step back and say hey maybe I'm not very good at this or at least not as good as I thought I was.

  • I think the answer lies in broad appeal.

What tends to happen is a niche item starts to grow in popularity, it expands, it tries to take on a broader appeal to further that expansion.

This inevitably dilutes what made it unique and interesting and it becomes a blander, more homogenized, generic experience that all can enjoy.

It happens to games, whether they be miniatures, cards, RPG's tabletop or digital.

Eventually someone in a meeting room somewhere will throw out the word "broad appeal" or similar in order to make it for everybody and suddenly its not really for anybody anymore.

Its not always pessimistic many things manage to expand and still keep the unique aspects that made it an interesting niche to begin with but generally the bigger something tends to get the blander it often becomes in order to broaden its appeal.

I miss a lot of the the older darker grittier bloodier grainier DBD too.

(Although I don't mind the sepia look of coldwind its very texas chainsaw massacre in its colour palette).

  • I always found it interesting that not winning has somehow become the game's fault.

  • Yeah scratched mirror Myers is one of my fav.

Myers is designed how a killer should be with some addons that completely change up how you play him rather than just mildly augment his power.

I burn a lot of The game and research institute map offerings as Myers because lunging out at people from around a corner never gets old. I also miss Haddonfield for the same reason.

Try it with coupe de grace that extra lunge often catches even the most cocky survivor off guard.

  • Speaking of maligned killer strategies, I miss AFK pig, that was some genuine cheese and made for some very funny moments.

You'd get a lot of hate but really no more than any other killer playstyle when it works and you get kills.

I died to it once with an unavoidable head pop and I was magically still alive in real life and no worse for wear because its only a game, so I queued up for another game as survivor and moved on with my life.

Many players haven't mastered that last part yet on either side.

  • Play how you want to play that's all.

There is this great cure for a bad game its called the queue button, you press it you go on to the next game and you forget all about what happened in the previous game.

  • No its not.

    The "stressors" are different however.

As killer you juggle playing against all 4 survivors so there isn't really down time, but as killer you (in theory should) have more control over the game pacing as you limit the survivor's ability to contribute to their goal.

You also suffer no threat of elimination and can play basically how you wish in a lot of scenarios.

I'd say the main stressors about playing killer are driven more from a sense of ego and frustration because you go into a game kind of expecting to control it but often end up reacting to how survivors play and once that happens you lose control of it.

It often comes down to how well you react to/manage loss which dictates if you can pull it back or not. How obnoxious your opponent is about it can also impact immersive game enjoyment.

For survivor, if you work well together you can dictate the game, but mostly you react to the killer and run a high risk of early elimination and even non participation.

These threats keep the tension high but that heightened tension is dispersed between spates of being relatively "safe" when the killer's attention is elsewhere. So its feast and famine for tension that progressively ratchets up the more of your team gets eliminated. (Its why I don't like the new "in chase" indicator because it removes the need to look around because you don't know where the killer is, thus killing some of the tense horror movie experience).

Again a lot of the survivor stressors stem from not understanding that non-participation and elimination are the threats you are trying to escape and the expectation that you'll be viably participating in the objective for the entirety of the game is a purely deluded one.

So no one side is more stressful than the other they are just different and a lot of the perceived stress comes from people's misconceptions about, and expectations from, the game. Shed those and you'll never stress over a game of DBD again.

  • Everyone and Everything but Myself, seems to be the prevailing trend on the forums.

I'd like to give a shout out to random chance, the great equalizer that people often overlook.

You can attenuate chance with various things, strategy, planning, skill etc etc. But in the end the random nature of it makes fools of us all eventually.

  • A tourist and his guide are walking through the savannah when they spot a lion hunting them.

The guide bends down and tightens up his shoe laces, when the tourist chimes in "you won't be able to outrun a lion"

The guide replies "I don't need to out run the lion... just you"

    Welcome to DBD.

Call it what you want, if a killer is gonna BM me on hook or tunnel me out at 5 gens because they “must” 4K thereby removing my ability to actually play the match, yes I will DC. Entitlement is thinking that others have to stay in the game with you while you play however you want. Even when it ruins their ability to actually play the game. Survivors are not meant to be fodder for the killer to do whatever they want.

But you are advocating for the same thing as what you are complaining about. You want killers to play a certain way that you prefer or you'll quit. So you expect a killer to play your way or basically not play.

"Entitlement is thinking that others have to stay in the game with you while you play however you want."

That's what you are advocating here, people have to play by your rules or you'll quit and refuse to play.

Irony isn't your strong suit is it. But you make up for that with expert levels of hypocrisy.

Good to see the DBD forums haven't changed one bit in my absence.

  • @Nikkiwhat said:

Your "friend" should stop complaining about things that are perfectly fine in the game....Windows are not supposed to a 100% safety net against Killers, lol. I swear if a new trend of people complaining about windows starts up.....

There was someone on here a while back complaining that they never felt safe as survivor.

I don't think they get what this game is about.

  • I mean killers have arms so standing next to an open window and expecting not to get stabbed through it from the giant monster on the other side is kinda silly.

A lil bit of realism aint a bad thing.

  • Eh what's to feel sad about just play the way you want to.

I tunnel and camp when I feel like it because it often gets kills that I probably would have had to fight harder to get.

The game is still fun and if people can't accept a legitimate game mechanic then they should really be asking is this the game for them.

You're not responsible for anyone else's fun than your own. So play and have fun the rest is meaningless, just be good natured no matter what the outcome is and you have nothing to lose.

Anyone who can't do that, well that's a them problem and their opinion of you as a gamer is completely irrelevant and inconsequential.

    Its only a game.

  • 12 - Opinions often get mistaken for truths or even facts.

I was going to say the same. The rare time I actually do see a Bubba, he usually doesn't camp. Either I'm lucky or his reputation doesn't precede him.

Or people blame everything on camping and tunneling no matter what happens in game at any point because they have become convenient scape goats for a poor game over self assessment and improvement.

I think I get called a camper and tunneller every 2-3 games no matter what I did or how I played.

The terms camping and tunneling these days just mean "I didn't get what I want from a game and I'm grumpy about it... camper, tunneller!"

Every time there is some hyperbolic comment about "every single X camps and tunnels" then you gotta take it as the grain of salt that it often is.

Can we stop trying to bring realism in this game?

its a super unfun mechanic. Does not matter if it makes bubba more threating. the game shouldn't be balanced around realism.

and when has DBD ever been a horror game? past the first week of playing?

"When has DBD ever been a horror game?" Well you sound pretty horrified by a camping Bubba so I say its on the money there.

Like I said if people don't get horror then maybe non-horror is what they are going for, I like the horrific elements of DBD because they fit, they work and they are gritty and confronting, all the things that make DBD a great horror game.

The realism is part of that and also makes the game thematically appealing.

"I hate it when I get brutally slaughtered in an impolite manner"... strikes me as a really silly way to approach the game and even sillier to be angry over it and want its removal.

If horrific non-participation is "un-fun" to you then there are plenty of games where you get to participate the whole way and never have to worry about elimination till game end.

DBD isn't one of those games and that makes it horrifying, threatening, fun and interesting.

Fun to play against? No, truly no.

Maybe you are some extremely skilled survivor who can actually last more than 25-30 sec against her, but the average soloQ player gets destroyed by her and this difference grows more and more with the horrible MMR that can match you with people with 10x your hours.

She literally should wear a tag saying "Play against only if you are a strong swf"

(Not asking for her to be ruined though)

"I I beg you all to only play Nurse from now on when you want to be killer and abuse the **** out of her. Bring the strongest addons, bring the strongest Perks, Tunnel, slug and Camp how you want. Do everything to win the round and the next and the next.

Upload Videos of high win streaks, of disconnects and first hook kills."

Its clear the OP wants to craft a narrative though and that's kinda gross from an unbiased change perspective.

  • Nurse is a great killer, fun to play and play against. I wish I was better with her than I am but I'm too lazy to really put the time in anymore so a couple of mediocre Nurse games is usually all I can muster.

I get it... you don't like Nurse and that means she has to be ruined for everyone because you don't like it.

Sadly this topic is the same kind of mentality that leads to review bombing and other such egregious ways of manipulating what appears to be public opinion but is just personal opinion gone mad.

we still have people defending bubba facecamping in 2022? really

Well yeah its just part of the game the year has nothing to do with it.

I've never understood the "it doesn't belong in 2022 DBD" statement, its not some progressive social structure, its a game about being chased by a monster in a slasher flick scenario, the nastier and more threatening the monster the more exciting the game.

"Its 2022 there should only be un-scary safe survival horror that's always fair, why because its 2022!" If you dislike/misunderstand the confronting and potentially unfair nature of asymmetric survival horror that much, why play it?

Fall guys is a fair game and great fun for the whole family, I love it, maybe that's more your kind of game.

  •  "the person on hook isn't allowed to play the video game at all" - this is a common misconception about DBD. Hanging on hook is considered gameplay, its part of the game.

"Non-participation" either being slugged or hooked is one of the threats you face as survivor and part of the killer's ability to build pressure. The more they remove these elements (i.e. built in UB) the less interesting the game becomes overall because there is a substantial lack of threat in the gameplay.

I realize people want a game of loopy chase where they get to feel safe and actively participate in the objective for the duration, but that game isn't DBD and when DBD becomes that it'll be a shadow of its former gritty survival horror self.

Because at that point as survivor, what will you be fleeing from? the answer is nothing, so why bother fleeing?

Its possible to outplay a bubba at the hook, give it a try. The threat he represents can also make for some very exciting plays, especially around the basement.

  • You gotta play both or your wasting half the game.

I'll say killer is the bigger draw card but survivor can be fun too.

  • I like playing against nurse.

A good nurse can be terrifying to run from and loop.

Its pretty rewarding to outplay a good nurse.

While I do agree that it shouldn't upset people too much and I personally am over it, I also know that some people are a bit more sensitive to these things. A few months back I was just like that and even going there to force them out would force me to look at them doing it, making me upset. What got me upset wasn't the teabagging itself but more that they had to go out of their way and try to be ***holes about it. Of course you shouldn't take everything to personally but sometimes you just can't help it.

Why do we need to BM each other? Can't we all have fun and respect other people? It's just common decency.

Yeah Its tiresome dealing with obnoxious players. I'm not gonna deny that. The anonymity of the online world turns people into right wankers too.

But bad winners tend to go hand in hand with sore losers, so they taunt when they win and they tantrum when they lose, all you can do is see it for what it is.

Get what you can from the scenario i.e. farm up points by breaking stuff or chase em out and move on.

  • You have a big weapon in your hand, you can put an end to button mashing in a second using it to chase people out the gate.

It’s so stupid, so why let it upset you.

I mean think about it, it doesn’t cost you anything, but the person doing it commits time, wear and tear on their controller/keyboard and future RSI in their hands.

How is it an effective taunt if the cost is born entirely by the taunter?

You either farm up points while they mash buttons or you chase them out and move on while they mash buttons. You win that scenario either way independent of what actually happened in game.

  • To be fair most of the Halloween series is pretty bad even by slasher movie standards.

The original is a timeless classic but the sequels are kinda piss poor. I like H20 for its depiction of Laurie Strode as a high functioning alcoholic in hiding that eventually faces up to and takes down her fears.

I’m just hoping it’s better than Halloween kills. Halloween 2018 wasn’t bad just wish the characters were more likeable so you gave a damn if they died or not. It made me happy to see some of them get knocked off in Halloween kills, the rest of that film is just terrible though.

Always happy to see another Michael Myers film, even a bad one, but my expectations are low at the moment.

  • @IlliterateGenocide said:

Them getting mad at you for slugging is dumb.

but unless they refused to do gens i would not call sabo trolling or toxic

Yeah I mean if my team is getting a lot of good sabo’s off I’m not surprised if I’m slugged because hey at some point killer has to try for a kill and if you can’t hook then you slug and bleed out.

If they are refusing to do the objective then it’s free pressure just keep smacking them down. Once someone is close enough to bleed out you can guard their body and bait more hits while they die, just be sure to keep knocking them down again.

It’s not a stock standard game of dbd but I wouldn’t call it trolling or toxic.

I would say this is a reason why base kit BT is likely a bad idea because it creates the scenario for this to become trollish when you know you’re all but safe to engage in it so can just do it all game largely risk free.

  • This sounds great. There is too much “why can’t we all be friends” mentality when it comes to dbd gameplay.

If the event makes killers mean and games scary then it’s doing it’s Halloween duty.

I want friday the 13th, Halloween, nightmare on elm street not Care Bears happy farm fest.

DBD shines as brutal slasher experience, when I feel like a well balanced laugh in a safe environment I’ll play fall guys. It’s great and good clean fun.

When I want to flee for my life in a high stakes game of elimination I’ll play DBD. So let’s hope DBD can deliver that especially if the event is driving the game towards it, as it should.

  • I hope for it when I play survivor. Endgame is often a forgone conclusion especially if the killer doesn’t have many hooks. NOED can turn that around making for an exciting endgame.

DBD shines when the killer is a force to be feared and NOED does that well.

  • because people act without thinking.

It was pretty obvious that it wasn’t worth it to rush to prestige and lose all progress before the changes went live but lots of people did, why because there would be a slight colour change on their portraits.

That really is just the height of reactive foolishness and the announced changes make me chuckle just a little.

um... the pandemic didnt bring that many players... plus the pandemic has been over... it brought 10-13k players on Steam. Theyve lost way more.

The numbers are a rollercoaster with enough vertical G's it would kill you. This is not a short term trend. More people watch DBD on twitch than they do playing. thats hugely sub-optimal.

Please stop White Knighting for BHVR. They need to get it together.

    image.png

Looks like a relatively stable long term trend to me with a sustain high end spike coinciding with lockdown that declines till the rework patch spike but still sits in the 50-60k peak bandwidth that DBD has sat at for the last year (it peaked at 100K during lock down). Which is generally higher than previous years.

I'd say the only data point of concern is the most recent with a peak player dipping below the 50k but is it a trend or is it an outlier? It'll be several months before that is clear but that's how data works, when you know how to read it and nothing up till that one blip suggests the game is dying.

Again they are peak player counts so its very face value, but its as I said numbers while fluctuating in the short tern are generally higher than previous years, accounting for a pandemic bubble.

I know it sucks when facts ruin your opinion but that's why facts are so great they don't care about opinions.

I'm hardly white knighting for BHVR, I know its a great buzz word to use but I'm not sure it means what you think it means.

So big words and numbers that's your homework for tonight we'll reconvene in a week and see how you did.

Today you get a stormy cloud 🌩️ but study hard and one day you might get a smiley face 😀

Tell that to the loss of around 4,000 players in the last 30 days.

Short term fluctuations don't represent long term trends.

Now there has been a general post pandemic decline, with event spikes, but that's to be expected as people aren't stuck sitting on their couches anymore.

So it's hardly sharp unexpected decline in player count.

A monthly total player count snapshot is hardly that informative so don't read to much into it.

  • If you're getting tired of killer try switching over to survivor.

I've never got the defining yourself as a killer or survivor main, that just means your forgoing playing one half of the game on a regular basis.

I think killer is the better part of this game too as survival horrors are a dime a dozen but they rarely let you be the monster.

Throttle back don't bring any addons and eat a few losses for a bit you'll end up back in the fun zone where players tend to be more casual and less competitive.

Then just play however the hell you want, forget the unwritten rules and be the killer as depicted.

Sometimes I just stalk people as Myers and focus on killing the obsession anything else is a bonus. Switch up some interesting builds, basement trapper and bubba are fun. AFK pig was a great laugh but its gone now, which is a bummer.

If you can't inject some new life into it with a bit of just plain mucking about and switching it up then its probably time for another break.

I got back into in a big way a week ago. Halloween is coming up so its inevitable, gonna try and burn up my moris before they eventually neuter them again. Goal is to mori at least 1 survivor every game anything else is a bonus.

Today I went for no hook sacrifices only mori, unless its last survivor and there is nothing I can do but hook them for the kill. Best couple of games yet were with good ol scratched mirror Myers, 2 games of 4x mori so satisfying. Walked away for a bit after that, probably not going to top that tonight. Plenty of 0 mori steam rolls but enough good games to keep it interesting.

I guess what I'm saying is when the general game gets dull, you gotta make your own fun.

  • I wouldn’t call it bullying but it’s definitely obnoxious.

I mean both of you sharing a post game laugh about the sudden turn of events would have been the height of good sportsmanship.

This is an example of obnoxious bad sportsmanship moreso than bullying I think.

You don’t have to be taking it to seriously to say it sours the game experience somewhat to play with obnoxious bad sports, but it also shouldn’t be as upsetting and impactful a genuine bullying often is.

I'm not trying to rationalize, I'm trying to change your mind. If you don't want your mind changed whatsoever, then I suppose there's no point to responding to you. There was no point in arguing if you didn't want your opinions changed.

Not everyone arguing with you is trying to rationalize themselves because they're insecure. I argue with people so I can change their opinions, not so I can rationalize myself. I don't delete all the -reps on my profile or argue with them because I know it's a waste of time to change their minds, since most of those messages are built on rage. The reason I argued with you was because I actually have faith in forum users, as opposed to some dude who came to my profile because he was angry at me.

Seems I was mistaken though, your large ass ego doesn't do you, as well as me, any good. You didn't even ever respond to the point where I have limited time because of college. Instead you just used it to get some petty insult against me. That's enough for me to realize that this was a huge waste of time. Good luck with your future arguments I guess.

Oh my dear friend you’ve committed one of the great fallacies of debate.

The goal isn’t to change my mind it’s to influence the opinion of others.

I’m not ignoring context in the least. In fact that point has little relevance here its a good common go to though, but does demonstrate that debate isn’t your strong suit.

Clarifying your point to be it’s ok to DC if someone else DC’s because it creates an un-winnable scenario that’s not worth playing.

It’s still no different to “I feel I can’t win so I quit.” Does it matter if it’s a DC or a really early down and elimination without much gen progression?

You feel one is legit but the other illegitimate so you feel justified in leaving in the DC case?

My point is that you can still have a fun interactive game of dbd even if someone DC’s so it’s a pretty weak excuse to use to justify your own quitting.

you’ve framed it as it’s un-fun if unable to win, when the scenario is potentially winnable and involves the same gameplay, or fun, as any other game of dbd, this is what makes it a weak point.

So if you are quitting because you feel you can’t win, then that’s really lame no matter how you dress it up because the context here doesn’t really change the defeatist mindset.

I don’t like when people DC is different from I quit when people DC. The first one is reasonable, it sucks when people quit the second really makes you no better than the first person who quit. Especially when it’s possible to have a full game of dbd as a 3v1, you probably won’t win it though as survivor but that’s not reason enough to quit without seeming kinda childish.

Hence my original point in full. If you want to quit that’s up to you, but own your “hissy quit” because you are kinda lame for doing so in a multiplayer setting.

Keep getting off to stroking your own fat ego by shaming other's decisions when you can't even open up a ######### dictionary.

"I don't need to rationalize anything, the only one trying to making it seem like some taboo is you right now." Every post you have made in this thread so far has been about rationalizing quitting.

Here are some examples... cut and paste quotes from your posts

There's a huge difference between the first person DCing and the second person DCing. The first person makes it a round from winnable to unwinnable. A second person DCing because of someone else DCing doesn't change the outcome.

Im DCing because I know it's not worth my time to play a game where I will for sure lose.

I don't have an infinite amount of time to play video games like you do, I have college work I need to do, which takes a sizable portion of my time. And no, I'm not going to waste my time trying to go for the off chance that I eventually do get hatch.

Rationalize - attempt to explain or justify one's own or another's behaviour or attitude with logical or plausible reasons, even if not true or appropriate. (open that dictionary again).

If you are in college maybe its not too late to get a refund on your degree.

Ok so you don't quit because you are raging you quit because you think you can't win. That is basically what your wrote.

So you're not literally raging, as per the definition of the word rage, but you are still quitting because you feel it's unwinnable, that's reason enough for you to just quit and call it un-fun.

If you want to define it literally (be ready to open that dictionary again), defeatism would be the term you are looking for.

So you "defeatist quit", rather than "rage quit", you give up if you feel you can't win. People would probably agree that isn't too far removed from a "rage quit" when you think about it.

It just comes from a place of cynicism about game outcome rather than rage.

(Also negativism, pessimism, lack of confidence, all synonyms for defeatism choose which one you like best, I list them because I ######### love dictionaries and thesauruses and don't really need to open one right now to look this up having read and understood them in advance).

The point could still be made that "defeatist quitting" is just as silly as "rage quitting" and another example of just quitting when you don't get what you want from the game.

I feel I can't win so I quit, in a single player game sure but in a multiplayer game... er not a great attitude to have, no matter how you want to rationalise it to yourself.

What? It's a video game. It should be fun. Nobody is loading up a video game to repeatedly simulate loss and disappointment in an unwinnable scenario. You are reading way too much into this.

The point being: a game should be worth the time investment. If a 3v1 is virtually unwinnable for the survivors, then it's arguably not worth the time to play it for those survivors. I fail to see what is childish about not wanting to spend what little free time people have in the evening on an unwinnable PVP game. We aren't doing public service here. It's a game.

So your point is, it doesn’t matter if you quit because it’s only a game but you don’t want to play it if you feel it’s un-winnable because that’s a waste of your valuable time even though it’s only a game.

The point is it’s not un-winnable it’s just not ideal. To quit the moment it becomes not ideal because you feel it’s un-winnable is really silly.

I’m not reading to much into this, it’s a collection of people trying their hardest to justify quitting the moment things aren’t ideal.

“I only have fun if I can win otherwise it’s not worth playing” Just take a step back and listen to yourself it sounds like a something a petulant child would say.

“I’m not getting what I want, I quit.” Over something as silly as a game.

If your game time is valuable wouldn’t you rather play out a game over waiting for the DC penalty or in another queue. Oh wait no because “it’s not worth playing unless I know I can win” 🤣

No one said anything about it being a public service. But when playing with others especially random strangers, you may not always get what you want from the experience. Maybe single player games are more your thing.

How am I rage quitting? Im DCing because I know it's not worth my time to play a game where I will for sure lose. Rage quitting is leaving the game out of frustration and anger. I'm not clenching my teeth every time I DC, stop reaching so hard.

I don't have an infinite amount of time to play video games like you do, I have college work I need to do, which takes a sizable portion of my time. And no, I'm not going to waste my time trying to go for the off chance that I eventually do get hatch.

Why don't you just respect other people's decisions and ways of doing things, instead of implying people aren't "grown ups" if they do decide to leave a losing battle. I really don't give a flying ######### if you don't dc when someone else does, I don't know if you're trying to pat yourself on the back by actively mocking people who don't decide to waste their time.

“How am I rage quitting? I’m DCing because it’s not worth my time to play a game where I’ll for sure lose”

That’s some next level self awareness there.

You rationalise your own quitting anyway you need to.

    Just wow 🤣

Nah, sadly I am dumb enough to still try, gifting the Killer so many BPs in the process.

What do you care what the killer gets?

You sound very resentful about someone else getting something from just playing the game as normal.

They get 2500 if you rage quit too so you are still giving something to the killer while taking more from your own team at the same time. So it’s not really much better as a result and you have to wait out your time penalty.

So you’ll take a worse scenario over playing it out because you resent the killer getting bp’s, which they’ll get anyway?

Help me out with the logic here.

Me not wanting to play an unfair game = i'm a child

Touch a dictionary and search for what "grown up" means.

Shouldn’t the challenge increase the sense reward if you can conjure an escape? It is still possible.

Why not try and play it out rather than just give up and quit because it’s no longer an ideal scenario?

Let’s say someone gets eliminated early rather than a dc do you give up then as well?

Actually you have often said on these forums that the game is un-winnable the moment it becomes a less than an ideal scenario.

Dont you think it is kinda silly to just give up the moment things aren’t going your way?

Children do that, or at least emotionally immature people, so yeah it strikes me as kinda childish way to play games.

Yeah it sucks when people dc but the game ain’t over till you are dead or out the door, you may still have some fun chases or interesting moments but I guess it easier to just quit because it’s waah it’s not fair.

But if you are not supposed to win, you are just a point-provider for the Killer. I know that some people would love it and dont see Survivors as anything else, but if you have no chance to win at all in a 3v1, you can rather run to the Killer, suicide and go into the next game.

So you just quit then because it’s no longer an ideal scenario?

You must be great fun to boardgame with.

So we're supposed to endure a horrible game with a certain outcome because of someone else's selfishness? This isn't a show on whether or not you're a grownup. If you try to use Dead By Daylight as a metric on whether or not you're a grownup, take a big step back and try re-evaluating some of your life decisions.

There's a huge difference between the first person DCing and the second person DCing. The first person makes it a round from winnable to unwinnable. A second person DCing because of someone else DCing doesn't change the outcome.

Lol this is a great example of what I’m talking about.

DBD isn’t a metric for emotional maturity but people’s opinions on this forum really can be as it often telegraphs their ability to deal with loss or disappointment. Spoiler… most seem like they can’t.

The fact you immediately find it unfun if the game becomes a less than ideal scenario and are immediately unwilling to participate anymore says a lot.

Rage quitting in response to someone else’s rage quitting is still just rage quitting.

The times I’ve hatched out and even opened an exit gate and escaped after the killer closed the hatch have been some of the most rewarding wins yet. I always try for it because dbd is a game about desperate escapes and that’s fun.

You should try it sometime rather than just quitting because someone else did.

Sorry to break it to you but there's nothing enjoyable about playing a match you can't win by default and grown ups don't waste their time playing games for a stranger's enjoyment.

I play a couple games after 10 hours of work. If the game can't provide me a fun experience I'm out. That's what actual grown ups do. They use THEIR hard earned limited spare time doing what they must or enjoy.

Actually playing a game of dbd in a losing scenario is exactly the same as playing dbd in a winning scenario.

The only difference lies in how much focus you place on outcome over gameplay.

It’s still possible to hatch out and even still possible the get a gate open after hatch has been closed. All the game play mechanics up till then are the same.

Yeah it sucks when someone DC’s early because it makes the game a lot harder and often results in a steamroll but it’s still the same game and you can still try and play it out.

The only unfun thing is when players just give up because something isn’t going their way.

You rightly denigrate the behaviour of someone who DC’s early but then become that same person 2 secs later because the game is now harder.

The fact you immediately think it’s unwinnable says a lot and that it’s immediately unfun as a result also says a lot. It is a very childish mindset when winning = fun but playing does not.

    Think about it.

  • @Marigoria said:

Ok sure. So let me dc without penalty if someone else dcs at 5gens.

Or you could continue to play and enjoy a game of DBD even if you don’t escape because of an early dc.

You know, like a grown up might do.
