Yeah during the match. I agree that people would get salty but i feel like it would also be a pretty good tool to communicate. Didnt think about console, but i can see a wheel system with some common phrases being okish, as well as being able to read the chat.

I get your point. But I feel like something like basekit kindred would be better instead some sort of active communication tool between survivors during a match.

  • You mean during the match? Terrible ideia in my opinion. People would only get salty. Plus, what about console?

  • It's easy to find arguments to criticize dbd balancing, especially in a competitive/tournament setting. I don't think lots of players disagree with what you said. But how to you solve it? What do you propose to perfectly balance it then? It's clear that dbd is not the type of game to be featured in a esports competitive tournament and pointing it out it obvious. What I never really see is people coming up with solid and realistic ideas to balance it around it.

Dbd was fun while it was casual.

If you are good, you get high MMR, which means you go against top players.. which means games are gonna be unfun because the devs balance around casuals.

So don't get good I guess.

I don't get this type of complaint. So what's the solution here? Match top players with new players so the top players smash the new ones? What you just described sounds like a balanced scheme for me. You rank up, you get matched with ranked up players. That is just... obvious in every type of online game? Of course the game has to be balanced around most of the player base. Balancing the game around the top 1% players would completely mess with most of the player base.

  • Doc, legion, blight, leatherface with BBQ are bloodpoint machines

  • Reporting player behaviour in game does not seem to punish anyone, ever. Maybe the reporting player for wasting their time. Now if you receive hate messages via PSN you can report and generally, depending on the offense, the offender is muted for some time. That psn mute system seems to be automated and my guess it is the best you can hope for.

  • I don't necessarily disagree with any of the things you said. Sometimes it's bad, I know. What I disagree with is the fact that you are trying to control how others play the game. Every player have to understand that they only get to control how they play and that's it.

  • No, wanting it better is all right. There is just something about writing so much making lesser issues seem so big that just don't feel right to me, that's all. My comment wasn't directed to any user in particular. I guess my opinion is that the issues do not overshadow the positive changes. Maybe what I see as a lesser issue is not the same as other players, and that is alright. I can't speak about the code, but I play on console too (PS4) and lately the game runs better than ever. Obviously way behind PC still, but its much better than once was. There are killer sided maps and survivors sided maps, I'm ok with that. There are stronger and weaker killers, i'm ok with that. The event was indeed not that good, but they tried to make up with double xp. I don't really care much about events honestly. I don't think devs have set pretty horrible standard for themselves or that they aren't capable. Saying it like that just feels kinda cheap to me. But I have no idea how hard or easy it is to manage a game like dbd. I like to think they are trying and are figuring out as it goes. But I guess anyone can express their opinion the way they want.

Why do people say the game is in a good state RN? They're about to release a unfinished killer because they know people will still buy. Base gen speed is atrocious. Swf is still a problem. Map sizes and breakable walls are a problem. Whole bunch of bugs. Like I don't get it lol

If you play this game for a while, I would say it's hard to disagree that there was a better state than the current one. Particularly for killer. Not saying it's perfect, but I have some fun playing it. Seems like most people are so entitled nowdays that everything must be either perfect or complete trash. I win most killer matches I play and I am subjected to the same issues you cited. None of these are big issues to me.

Using a Killer’s power should reset bloodlust. Doesn’t matter what it is. Pressing M2 should reset it.

This change would effectively remove bloodlust on Killers that shouldn’t need it. But it would keep the mechanic around for the couple Killers that are weak enough to rely on it because they get in scenarios where they have to M1 because their power won’t help them (Wraith, Myers, Legion, Trapper, Ghost Face, Charlotte)

So essentially, if you can’t use your Killer power, Bloodlust becomes your Killer power

What do you mean?? using any killer power already resets bloodlust.

  • here is a hug for you.

  • Why there are so many downers posting negative stuff on the forums? All these endless rants. There are a few issues around, true, but nothing that makes the game unplayable. In fact I think the game is in the best state it's ever been. I read this stuff and I wonder why are you still playing it and/or wasting time making such a wall of text about a game you seem not to enjoy.

I enjoy the game and have fun. Its a 4v1 online game, obviously its not always going to go your way and screaming "broken games devs suck" like a child isn't going to do anything, just ready up and move on. I think people underestimate just how much work it takes for this kind of game and how it is literally impossible for everyone to be happy.

    - game is inherently unbalanced, impossible to balance all skill levels. What balances reds will hurt greens.

    - no perks are "game breaking". Sure undying ruin and unbreakable ds make it so much harder. But it is possible to beat so the games not broken

-matchmaking is terrible, that I agree on. I liked the idea of mmr, last round didn't work but hopefully next one will

-they changed it to survivor hit validation didn't they? I might be wrong and not implemented yet but they definitely spoke about it

-they are currently going back and optimizing graphics, but while they're doing that people are just moaning about lack of new maps. Improve the old, then make new

-they're fixing maps, because yeah there was some bad design

-i know precisely ######### all about how netcode works and my experience might be different from yours but my games been pretty stable

This first paragraph says it all.

OP, if you dislike the game so much, I recommend looking for something else to play, no offense.

  • But that's one of the cool things about dbd, it's simplicity. I think it's perfect the way it is.

I meant exactly what I said.

You can reach the perfect point where you can curve with bloodlust faster than without it. You can reach the point where you can safely chainsaw as leatherface faster with bloodlust than without it. This is the difference between downing a survivor and getting map pressure to win the game, and absolutely losing the game with a 0k.

Do you not understand how fractions of a second matter in this game? That's why dead hard is such a strong perk. The issue isn't that I don't know how bloodlust works, the issue is that you don't know how the game works.

Ok kid I get it, you are always right and everyone else is always wrong. Keep making up those facts, very mature of you. If you are so sure that's how bloodlust affects powers, then it's certainly not me who doesn't know how the game works. Great argumentation by the way. Have a nice sunday.

Bloodlust can be used to close enough distance for either billy or leatherface to chainsaw. If not, they can m1. To argue that they do not benefit from bloodlust is plain wrong.

It's amazing that people don't understand how strong movespeed is in this game, nor do they understand how to utilize it. There's a reason why play with your food is so strong on leatherface.

Bloodlust can be used to close the distance before attacking on any killer, yes. I did not said that otherwise anywhere and that was not your original claim. You are just trying to find errors in my reply by making them up.

I simply stated the fact that it does not affects a killer power at all as you claimed "Hillbilly gains from bloodust as he is able to make curves with it better, same with leatherface." Bloodlust has no offect on the ability to make curves in either killer. It does not makes the chainsaw animation faster or different at all, that is all I said.

It's amazing that someone who wants to discuss the bloodlust mechanic does not even know precisely how it works.

  • @ZaKzan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1766123#Comment_1766123

Legion's ability synergizes with bloodlust. Hillbilly gains from bloodust as he is able to make curves with it better, same with leatherface.

Spirit deathslinger and huntress have ways to determine skill.

Bloodlust will certainly pad a player's stats. It's true that it affects killers differently, but that's the problem, it's a wildcard variable.

Bloodlust resets when a killer uses his power, hits a target or breaks a pallet. So it has no effect during any of the killer powers you mentioned.

As to the topic, I don't think there is any kind of MMR currently. I don't know why they are experiments with that mechanic, I think it's fine the way it is.

  • The game is casual. There are no top 100 rankings and no reward for ranking up. Just play casually and don't worry about a number in your screen. And there is already custom game to create a match with any map, offering, perk etc which is unranked.

Adding a casual mode separated from the normal queue that we currently have would divide the player pool and make both slower to fill lobbies. And I have a feeling that in a casual mode people would play the same way with strong builds and all thinking that they will get easier matches or whatever. I don't think people playing a different casual mode would play to lose.

  • It happens in pretty much every pvp game. Do not take it personally.

  • @sudintlink said:

This mechanic is really outdated and they did say in the PTB they would look into it and I guess they actually told the truth. IMO and this isn't a likeable one so sorry if it offends you but they should really nerf the gen speeds a lot but buff the 1v1 chase aspect of the game because thats the fun part! No one comes here to hit great skill checks we want to have fun chases that feel like a real 1v1

    @Clevite said:

It is probably time to look at bloodlust, it is an antiquated mechanic.

Why is it an outdated mechanic?

  • Of course I play for the fun. Dbd is a fantastic game. Like most pvp games though, there are going to be good and bad matches, wins and losses. Obviously it's always more fun to the winning side, but what makes the win exciting is that it doesn't happen every time. There gotta be losing matches to make the winning ones meaningful.

Plus the game has an interesting progressing scheme, I find fun in grinding to unlock a particular perk that I don't have in a particular charater and so on.

My impression is that some players handle losses too poorly. Each player is different. Of course it's not fun to be tunneled and kicked out of a match in 3 minutes. But it rarely happens. As killer I find much easier to deal with a loss cause playing killer is always fun. As a survivor you rely on other and that can be problematic sometimes, but nothing that hitting that ready button again won't fix.

  • The game is casual. Rankings in dbd only matter in your head. Rank won't lock you out of any content at all or give you any rewards. And then there is custom game already.

I feel that most times when people ask for a "casual" mode what they really want are easy games. Players want to play with people worse than them so they can win more, which is very silly on a pvp game.

You are free to use any build you want on the current matchmaking. But you get to choose how you play, and not how everyone plays. "Sweaty" is anyone that plays the way you don't want them to. In a "casual" mode, that would not change at all.

  • @Gay Myers (Luzi) said:

Currently the only available cross progression is between PC and Stadia. Switch will be added soon.

Is there plans for console and PC cross progression?

  • No need to announce that you're leaving, just leave. Also crossplay is not a problem, the problem is you.

  • @Dead_by_Gadfly said:

Go play killer, get to r1 without ever camping or tunneling. I dare you. Show us how God like you are

This is a valid point. Camping not so much because almost everytime it's not really worth it for the killer, but tunneling is a complex topic to deal with because you basically need a perfect match as killer at red ranks without it, particularly against swf, to win.

  • This is indeed a common issue. Undying + ruin combo has given killer a bit more time to chase during a match, but ultimately does not address camp or tunelling problems. I feel that at this point changing the hook system would make it even harder for new killers but I'd be curious to see a system where once hooked, the survivor goes to a random or semi random hook on the map away from all other players as possible, similar to how Pyramid Head cages work. Unlikely, but one can dream.

  • @Judicar said:

Why else do you think they pushed for crossplay? Its player numbers have been declining for over a year now - whether it be because of boredom or this crap playerbase (SWF tryhards, campers/tunnlers) it's been losing people for a while now. Crossplay will definittely extend its life for some time but unless they really overhaul some stuff eventually even crossplay won't do crap.

Check steam charts. What you are saying goes against the available data, that is just your opinion and not a fact.

  • This game community is so negative and infantile, it's quite sad. You don't like the game, you can leave. But the trend that steam charts shows is that that dbd is in one of it's best spots in terms of popularity ever.

  • Undying and ruin is the new meta and it doesn't revolve around skill, it is more luck based in a sense due to how fast survivors will find and cleanse totems. It just give the killer more time and in maps like midwich, hawkings, mother's dwelling and other huge maps it makes finding and cleasing totems the main objective instead of the secondary. Ultimately makes the match very boring and too long. It definitely should be changed, maybe for a single transfer and without aura reading.

  • Most matches survivors 99 the gates to counter blood warden in case of a late game hook. In the rare occurrences where blood warden does activates, in a situation where there are 3 survivors at the same blocked gate and all get downed, it's 100% their fault. If the gates are opened and blood warden activates, leave the gate and go to a safer spot or hide until the gates are unblocked.

  • I agree. Mori (ebony, in this case) has a much bigger potential to affect more than one survival when compared to a key. Rarely more than one survivor escape with a key. In fact, rarely there is a key escape at all.

Moris are much more commonly used because their requirement for use is much easier, just one hook and then a down. That's it, that player is out of the trial.

For comparison, to use a key, you cannot be the first to die (you might be targeted and tunneled for using it), there is a number of gens vs survivors alive required for the hatch to spawn and then if these two requirements are met you have to find the hatch in the map before the killer finds you. Then, if you do, more than one survivor escaping in a game of randoms is very rare.

In SWF things are a bit different, yes, but there is a need to consider that good SWFs comes in smaller number of games. In my opinion, ebony mori should allow killing only one survivor after the first hook. That by itself it already very powerful, generally means a won game if it's done in the beginning of the trial and the killer is half good.

  • Complaining about a survivor perk that is good at best. Really? What's next? Resilience nerf? Bond is too strong? A player with sprint burst is much harder to deal with in the beginning of a chase when compared with a player with spine chill. So many times I just stumbled with a spine chill survivor that just left a gen in the corner of the map and has no ideia that he is coming towards me instead of away from me. That perk is fine. It would be overpowered if it had aura reading. Spine chill is definitely of least concern when it comes to survivor perks even for stealth killers.

  • It really sounds like you are all playing a different game than me. It's incredible. Crossplay has been amazing. Instant matches on PS4 for both killer and survivor. All this talk that PC players are this and consoles players are that is on your head. I played probably more than 50 matches this weekend my escape and 4k ratio has been the same as before. Red rank in both. There isn't a single action/playstyle that defines either players. In fact if you could not see that a certain player is from a different plataform I bet people wouldn't guess which is which. The only exception is probably flashlight/macro use. People make the silliest excuses to belittle other plataforms. 75%+ of the matches were all similar ranks, great competitive matches, survs playing as a team, killer pressuring and so on. Every once in a while you get that surv that plays really badly, that killer that camps the first hook, that match that ends very fast to either side, the same as before crossplay. Console players do not use 360 more. PC players do not loop better. The game plays nice in the PS4 and if you play well, chasing survs and evading killers is just as doable as in the PC. Do not blame how the game runs on PS4 if you lost a chase, the so called advantage is minimal and irrelevant in almost all cases. That has been my experience so far. I really enjoy this game and its community is known for 24/7 complaining about every possible thing. Do not buy into that. Console players: leave crossplay on and enjoy the bigger player base, there isn't any noticeable difference in skill/gameplay between plataforms.
