It happened constantly dude xD It was completely stupid... And hit validation was even worse... You saw blood after you someone and they stayed healthy because it got validated... So glad it isn't that bad anymore.
„So glad it isn't that bad anymore.“
This means it can return now again ?!

camping (regrettably) still works perfectly fine if you, for some reason, enjoy the thrilling gameplay that is standing still and doing nothing, you just can't face camp anymore
But it isn‘t fun anymore. I‘m also no one, who camps, but this game was more fun and interesting with it (sometimes more frustrating)
I had a game with pig, where I had the wall hack addon and I hooked someone. Then I saw the aura of a survivor one floor above me (on rpd) ready to jump down, but he was either on comms or had hacks and waited. Therefore I waited for him to jump down (as far away from the hook as I could while still seeing the aura) while the anti camp was filling up. In the end the guy unhooked himself and there was nothing what I did wrong or could do better. There was no way to get up there before he unhooks and the anti camp was also not paused by someone being directly above the hook.

"Just make it work when you hook a survivor period."
😂

@Blueberry said:
Totally agree.
Changes to fix her:
- Ring Drawing base kit - This rewards and incentivizes hooking. Just make it work when you hook a survivor period.
- Unlimited lock in - If they're greedy they should be punished for it
- Destroy tapes on hit - This has dual purpose. One it prevents the scenario in the video above where they deposit the tape in your face and it also creates dynamic and skilled game play as now after you break someones tape you'll have to make immediate decisions. Should I continue chase because I built his condemn high and I want to lock him in or should I go for that other guy to break his tape because I don't want him to drop stacks. This raises the skill ceiling.
This isn't even going into her addons that are a total mess but she at least needs this other stuff for her base kit to function.
The first and third point wouldn‘t work together, but yes shure.

Have you seen hit validation when it existed? We had that and it was horrible, because on your screen you hit them and on their screen you didn't... So no, didn't work for hits, I doubt it worked better for grabs...
I didn’t really mind it and it didn’t happen very often. I remember one time where I was unhooking someone and got grabbed afterwards, but it was not the end of the world. The mechanic was more fun than just hook trading like now.

Camping should never be rewarded as it is essentially anti-gameplay. 1 player chooses to do absolutely nothing, 1 player physically can't do anything and the optimal play for 3 other players is to just do gens and let that 1 player die, unless the wish to engage in the world's most boring game of chicken which, depending on ping, can instantly lose them the game and give the win to a player that did absolutely nothing.
A killer should not have to play one certain way, that‘s just boring. Also camping was easy to counter. The only time you had to leave someone to die on hook was when buba was Face camping, which was not the end of the world. I‘m also not against the anti-camp, but not as base kit mechanic. It should be a part of all those hook based perks (reassurance…)
-
I agree with most things in this video. Space/sky Billy were just cool things and fun, which should never been removed. Invisible walls are just trash and ruin the potential fun/lower the skill of some killers and for survivor as well, when you want to get on certain things. I really dislike the balanceing in this game as a whole. Everything gets constantly nerfed and we only get useless new perks. I would prefer a chaotic game with strong stuff, which is fun much more rather than boring/stale gameplay. Then all killers have to play the same boring way. There is literally only tunneling left in this game. Constant removing of techs that weren‘t intended, instead behavior should just make them a feature. Light burn was a cool mechanic and it should have been extended. I want ranks back instead of mmr….

I think the AFC is fine but hook grabs should make a return (though that might need some more adjustments to the AFC to balance it out). It added a bit of risk and mind gaming to the otherwise very straight forward unhook mechanic. I get that face camping wasn't great but knowing that there's no way survivors can be punished for playing reckless in that situation, other than tunneling is not great.
You cannot punish the survivor that actually made the mistake but only the one coming off the hook, which just feels very wrong. This has led to many of my team mates unhooking me immeditaley right next to the killer and me getting tunneled as a consequence. In that situation even DS won't help, since the first half of the chase basically doesn't happen. Blame the killer all you like but in that situation, why wouldn't they tunnel? Preventing the unhook doesn't work and the killer is not obligated to let survivors get away with playing stupid. We don't expect survivors to stop doing gens because the killer went in the wrong direction either.
Agree with everything, but I still hope they will make the AFC a status effect and put it on every perk that has something to do with hooks like reassurance… This would make this mechanic actually fun and useful, instead of just saying don‘t camp and all those hook based perks would be more useful again. All this system did in my opinion was make good camping killers proxi camp (which is stronger than face camp) and everyone else just tunnels.

Sadly in this version it‘s up to the survivors wether you can use your power. There is no drawback for turning of TVs.

This happened constantly over years, which is why they removed the thing xD People complained about it a lot and it became basically a meme xD
Also how do you improve desync? It had nothing to do with the hook grab itself but with players not having the same thing on their screens.
They said they removed it, because of the mind game part, where you had to bait the killer into hitting you. I like this part, you could have waste a lot of time tho.
I‘m not a game developer, but I think I would make that the server checks the hits and whether they would be real hits. Like in every other game desync isn‘t really a problem. -
It should be brought back to 50% self heal and then killers should get that one boon distruction perk basekit.

It was dumb and completely random whether or not you would get grabbed... Simply because killer and survivor did not see the same thing... On the killers screen you were still unhooking, on your screen you already stopped... It was horrid, there was nothing fun about it... There are even some videos where people managed to get the unhook and still get grabbed... The whole thing was broken.
They should have just improved it. This didn‘t happen that often, at least for me it was mostly fair.

You want them back because they were a broken mechanic that almost never worked as intended? What kind of reason is that...
The unhook mini game was stupid and I am really glad it is gone...
How was it broken and don‘t say ping? It was a fun little thing.

Even i don´t liked the grabs it is sad they took them out. Less and less variety.
I still don´t like the new wiggles. Old felt better.
In PTB you can´t cancel the unhook anymore. I think this is also pretty bad as a killer can now always predict the unhook.
I liked the mindgame part of the hook grabs. Also you could buy a lot of time by just waiting for the hit. Now the killer just hits you and downs you immediately.
What was different about wiggles?
I hope they don’t bring the no longer unhook cancel to live.

Hook grabs were horrible, just because of how inconsistent they were, just like grabs in general. On your screen the unhook has finished, the survivor gets unhooked and then you get grabbed and other nonsense. The whole mechanic was infuriating for both sides, because it was just so random what will happen.
As for insidious stuff, that was rather unpleasant for the other side, so I'm fine with them gone, and so is probably the majority of people, but hey maybe you find other people that enjoy that stuff and you can make custom games or what not...
That‘s why I want hook grabs back and the anti camp gone. Hook grabs were also very important in endgame.

Generalizations like that are almost never true... I play her solely for her dash and I picked up after years of not playing her and I think the direction they are going with her is great. Her traps should be mainly game delay and not some cheesy way to force a head pop.
For me her traps should be strong and an alternative way to kill, we just disagree here. If I would want to play a dash killer, I would just play blight, Wesker, demo or chucky. They all have a way better dash. I don‘t like the whole thing about slowdown ONLY. Sadako now is just terrible, because of that philosophy. At least for pig, the traps always were slowdown, but not in sadakos case.

I love the buff for The Pig, her ambush honestly needed a buff, and these changes do just that. Of course her head traps got nerfed to balance this out, but that is understandable. And then The Huntress got buffed in the same update, and didn't get any nerfs to compensate these buffs, despite already being an A Tier Killer, according to many people's opinions. So, I just want to ask why did The Pig get nerfs for her head traps when The Huntress got just full buffs? The Pig was a fairly weak Killer, I would have assumed that if any Killler needed just straight buffs, it would be her and not The Huntress. I know I'm just a player and I know the devs will likely not care about our opinions and still continue with the changes, but I just want to understand the thought process here. I would prefer The Huntress not get any buffs, as she doesn't need buffs, but The Pig could use more buffs in my opinion. What I would do, revert the changes made to The Huntress, and keep every change made to The Pig, but give The Pig a 24 meter Terror Radius like she used to have. It's not OP to be a 115% movement speed Killer with a 24 meter Terror Radius, The Onryo has it, and The Shape has a 16 meter Terror Radius. Just give The Pig another buff, please.
I agree the nerf to pig was dumb. No one plays pig mainly for her dash. Even tho the ambush buff was nice, her real power are her traps, which I think should have been buffed not nerfed. I would also like to see her getting a 24m terror radius like she used to, skill check perks working with the boxes, trap timer reduction and the giving the boxes a physical key instead of rng (+Box auras back).

If we’re trying to fix this current version though, we can’t be requiring hooks for it to function. This defeats the entire point of the
power. A mori is irrelevant if they’re dead on hook anyway. Not wasting time on pick up, walk, hook, is what gave her time efficiency back. Bring back destroying tapes on hit, that gives Sadako some control of her power. She is glorified pyramid head now. You can mori survivors on death hook. amazing. the dev are just really anti-slugging. If a killer is slugging, they just punished killer or attempt to neuter the killer's slugging capacity. They even attempted to neuter Twin's slugging.
The dev that designs these killers almost doesn't seem like same dev that balances them.
The goal of killer design on every chapter should be, “how do we make this killer a unique experience to play as and against”. This is how you make dbd feel like it has different game modes when it doesn’t and prevent people from getting bored. They currently have way, way too many killers that play as and against exactly the same with a different coat of paint. That’s bad design.
Slugging killer are unique design. That is why we need erase them and make them all into hook designs so you can enjoy your different coat of paint!
I would say her mori is worse then pyramid heads. Sadako has to do way more for way less.
I agree they don‘t need to make every killer play the same. In my opinion the only reason for playing buba was face camping → anti face camp. I really dislike that they introduced the anti 3gen/anti camp and removed hook grabs. The game becomes more and more stale and everyone is only tunneling.
-
I would say condemned lock is the only way condemned has any threat currently, but even then it‘s not really good. The only cool thing in the ptb was locking in all stacks and hooking someone, so that you could let them run around moriable all the time.

Very disappointed.

that’s fair, I definitely agree with you, and I understand certain killers are harder to balance and others, but there’s so much feedback that we are giving them, these are all things that can be tested, they’re great ideas. None of it has to live until we are sure it’s the right solution. That’s how it should be for all killers, making the right healthy solution for each killer so that the counter is fair on both sides
Sadly the ptbs just get pushed out even tho there are enough things that need to be improved or changed. It would be far better to delay the updates or at least those parts, who need more time until they are ready. Also not everything should be changed even tho it was planned, when you get overall negative feedback, otherwise the whole point of the ptb makes no sense.

We could also go the route of making her anti loop and stealth significantly better to compensate rather than making her condemn play style good again. My issue with this though is that then it’s again making just “another” anti loop killer or another killer with stealth, this isn’t unique. Her condemn play style makes for a unique match experience for both sides, not just another copy/paste of every other killer. This is essentially what happened to Pig.
I didn’t think the tape destruction on hit or slugging was an issue because it was balanced out by the fact of her having limited map mobility, being an m1 with no anti loop, and not getting the jump on anyone because her stealth doesn’t really exist. So “just” getting an m1 hit on people to lose a tape or slug them took high skill in the first place as she has nothing going for her to accomplish this.
Many of these reworks are making more killers the same and removing their uniqueness instead of going the other way because people refuse to learn and adapt.
Also agree we don’t need 20 killers that play the same. Pig is one good example like you said, she was unique. You played around her traps and now she is just another killer with anti-loop and some stealth.
I also don‘t think both things were that problematic, it‘s not like downing someone is easy with Sadako. Also not many people actually slugged back then, most of them did actually chase and hook and took the condemned kill when they got it. My problems when playing as 2.0 were only that survivors constantly turned off all my TVs and the cooldown after each tp. Now we still got the problem, but much worse and her power gets shut down all the time. It doesn‘t really help much having her tp cooldown removed again when you got nothing to tp to. When playing against 2.0 I did not like that she non stop teleported without thinking and the 2stacks per hit often snowballed me out. Like I got a tape hit, I took the next tape and again hit until you got morid.
-
@Blueberry said:
Yeah poor Sadako got left in the dumpster, she’s so bad right now. I personally think 2.0 version was perfect, it just needed some small tweaks for lower mmr players like showing the tv auras close by to help them find them, that’s it.
If we’re trying to fix this current version though, we can’t be requiring hooks for it to function. This defeats the entire point of the power. A mori is irrelevant if they’re dead on hook anyway. Not wasting time on pick up, walk, hook, is what gave her time efficiency back. Bring back destroying tapes on hit, that gives Sadako some control of her power.
If we’re trying to force hooking, bring back unlimited lock in. So whatever they’re at on one hook is locked in. Also, Ring Drawing needs to be base kit with this. Again destroy tapes on hit too. I still think requiring hooking is counterintuitive to her fundamental condemn design though.
As you already said, people saying her condemn is only for slow down is flawed thinking. If it’s just supposed to be passive slow down in the background then her entire power is a teleport that survivors can control? That’s it?
I say that’s it because her “anti loop” if we wanna call it that is a joke. It does basically nothing for loops. Her “stealth” also isn’t even a real stealth since it has a lullaby. She has nothing else.
I agree with everything even tho I would prefer 1.0 over 2.0. I think giving survivors in 2.0 TV wall hacks as solution is bad. We currently have that and it makes her tp to chase survivors useless. As soon as the aura disappears and the tp sound plays, survivors start to run in the opposite direction. Also permanent TV auras make some addons really useless. Then one personal thing I like about her; she is an actual scary/horror killer, which gets completely taken away by the TV auras.
-
This could be a cool perk. It‘s only funny, that you don‘t get anything for yourself.
-
You pretty much show the problems perfectly. My main problem with her starts with her design. 2.0 and 3.0 both encourage survivors to always turn off TVs, where in 1.0 you shouldn‘t interact with TVs at least not that much. In 2.0 you at least didn‘t loose the condemned power (only teleport) and in 3.0 you lose your condemned and teleport power. In 1.0 you had both powers available almost always, shure she had long Tv cooldowns, but she had addons to manage that and her condemned was also not that bad (but it could have gotten some buffs like increasing it to 24m or making it based around the proximity 0-8m 2stacks; 8-16m 1stack; 16-24m 0,5 stacks). Now you basically play her only as M1 without power most of the time, because most survivors shut down all her TVs. On the other side she is a monster in stomping inexperienced survivors, who ignore her counterplay/don‘t know it, which in my opinion is a bad design. Her tp became bad in chase, because survivor see exactly where you teleport and run in the opposite direction. This leaves you even when survivors didn‘t turn off the TV with an ineffective teleport. Also when playing against her she lost all the horror by the TV auras (without them you didn‘t know from where she would come). I really enjoyed playing against and as 1.0.
Her current addons are in my opinion almost all weak. She had good ones, but they all got deleted or became outdated, this makes me sad.😔
Videotape copy got a good new effect
Newspaper was always good, but I don‘t understand why she has one addon that does make her flicker better in demanifest and in manifest like Newspaper and reikos watch could be one addon for both parts.
Mother‘s mirror does what it is supposed to do, I guess it‘s ok, when I would change something, I would hide the red stain in general while she flickers in manifest.
Cabin sign and well stone aren‘t really worth bringing since her TVs no longer have long cooldowns. If both would make TVs turn on faster in general, instead of only after your tp or after survivors turned them off, they could be a bit useful with a number buff (you don‘t really feel that they do anything). Or maybe they should get new effects.
Yoichis fishing net: I don‘t really feel whether it does anything. I would want the old effect back that it gives passive condemned faster if we get or 1.0 version back or that this addon makes that tapes give passive condemned, so that survivors don‘t hoard tapes.
Sea soaked cloth and rickety pinwheel are both outdated, it was okey as people didn‘t turn off TVs, but now you get nothing from them. First of all they need a bigger range. I would say make it the range of condemned and maybe merge them.
Reikos watch should get its old 50% back even tho the base flicker got buffed and like it said above I don‘t understand why we have an addon for demanifest flicker and manifest flicker, this should be one addon for both parts
Clumb of hair: I can‘t say whether it makes a difference/ does something impactful, but this is a cool unique addon, which could be good with a big number buff.
Well water is good
Bloody fingernails is her best addon, please don‘t nerf it
Mothers Clumb it‘s good, but I don‘t like it
VCR became useless, because of the TV auras!
Distorted photo is okey. I like that there is written you have to „witness a manifestation“ even tho this addon becomes worse by that. If it would get the telephone effect with 6% hindered it would be good.
Telephone: Move the effect to distorted photo or buff it significantly or new effect.
Tape editing deck is outdated and was only good with passive condemned (since 2.0 useless)
Remote control is good
Iri tape is not worth it being an iri. I like the idea, but this should be a grey meme addon, where you get more blood points. Just bring back old iri videotape, which turned 4 TVs back on by hitting a survivor. I know this would probably be too strong in this version, but if you go back to 1.0 please bring it back.
Ring drawing is terrible after the deletion of its old healing gives condemned effect. Either bring back healing a injured survivor gives commend or make it an iri addon and make that healing in general gives one stack. The OG ring drawing would be worthy an iri addon.
New addons ideas:
- phasing through survivors gives Sadako haste or makes them exposed or gives condemned. This would be a fun addon.
- shorter switching time between demanifest and manifest
- A global condemned addon for those, who liked Sadako 2.0
- removing the lullaby/making it map wide/reducing it
I wish we would get her OG mechanics back, I think this was the fairest/most fun version for both sides and she only needed the buffs and QOL changes from the reworks.
To archive that I would change some of the addons back (iri tape/ ring drawing/ reikos watch/yoichis fishing net) and some parts while keeping the other changes from the reworks:
- passive condemned through tapes (every 25s 1stack)
- Tv auras removed. I would only show survivors the one TV where they have deposit their tape. It‘s frustrating when they know where you are, before you even crawl out the TV
- Only one TV gives condemned. To buff condemned I would increase the range where you get condemned to 24m or make it based around the proximity 0-8m 2stacks; 8-16m 1 stack; 16-24m 0,5 stacks
- Remove that you can turn of TVs, while holding a tape by getting one stack
- 1,5-2s tape insertion speed, 1s is too short
Another problem is her lullaby, which makes her stealth very bad since you introduced the visual terror radius. Before this was introduced most didn‘t even noticed it, I didn‘t notice it either. The best way to deal with it (even tho it might be a bit unfair for people who can‘t hear) would be to remove it from the visuel heartbeat.

Yes, this hook was so unnecessary. It was so easy to hook someone even with boil over and flip flop, when you broke a wall and carried them instantly. It‘s not like this perks only useful purpose is too wiggle free from second floors. If the devs really don‘t want survivors to that, they need to change the perk instead of taking away its only use.

Huntress is actually extremely loopable. Here’s all you do, greed every single pallet, every single time. If she ever respects you get more loops, if she doesn’t, then you just made a 110% killer circle that object so many times for an m1 that she’s losing the game anyway because that was way longer of a chase than she can afford. Win/win. She’s probably the most loopable killer in her tier.
What am I supposed to do when she proxy camps and hits every shot. Her wind up is so fast you can‘t just say run somewhere in time and even if you get somewhere and dodge everything it takes ages until she runs out of ammo.

Honestly it‘s true. With each update more and more people give up on hook or dc. All map reworks since I started playing over a year ago were bad and they only favored killers and are mostly miserable to play on for survivors (Garden of joy, Borgo, rancid abattoir…). Also most balance changes since I started playing were questionable not only on the survivor side.
It would be good if behavior would try to make this game more fun and not „survivors should feel helpless“. My friends don‘t even want to touch this game anymore, because it‘s not fun to constantly getting farmed and they also don‘t want to dedicate their live into this game to stand a chance.

Honestly? I like the quirkier mechanics in DBD, like Obsession perks, Boons, Hexes, Scourge Hooks, etc, and I encourage adding perks workimg with these mechanisms to make them relevant. E.g. Friends Til The End is a great addition to the game, because it makes a lot of other Obsession perks useful in niche builds.
No one is gonna run Hangman's Trick if it's just auras around hooks, there are plenty of options that will be generally more useful. Unless HT gives a ridiculous meta shifting level of aura read, it'll continue to sit on the pile of unused perks. That's just the way it is, it's concept can not compete with the significant number of other aura perks that are more reliable.
Having Hangman's Trick as a scourge hook perk gives it alternative means of being relevant, and making it a Scourge Hook support perk (like Hex: Undying is to hexes) actually gives it a unique purpose, where even if it itself isn’t that strong, can still find it's way into builds.
Yes adding such types of perks is good, but only if it benefits the perk and if it makes sense. I also like friends till the end. In this case it wasn‘t a scorch hook perk before and it became irrelevant by becoming one. This perk could be a decent tracking perk, but it is limited to scorch hooks. I would love to see undying working for all types of totems or it returning to it‘s op form.

That seems pretty decent to me. I've seen a number of good Scourge Hook: Hangman's Trick suggestions, and I quite like this one.
Keeps its identity as the anti-sabo perk, thematically fits the Pig as it makes saboing it a risky choice.
I might also suggest something like add an additional scourge hook, just so there is more chance of aura value, there is more chance for you to get that sabo exposed value, and gives some extra utility in builds even if no one is saboing.
Like it.
why do you want this perk to even be a scorched hook perk? It could be decent when it was every hook.

They killed this perk as they remove the self heal from it. It will be useless as long as that is missing.

I don‘t like giving perks the hang man‘s trick treatment. This perk got ruined by being a scorch hook. It was ok before and maybe even an alternative to other tracking perks.

Careful what you wish for asking for any type of rework. Behavior might change him completely like with other killers. 😅
Dredge needs some QOL changes for sure.More locker spawns.
No slow down when using remnant.
Agreed buffs and QOL changes.

They just need to revert the nerf and make it a normal hook perk. That‘s it and maybe then they can buff it.

stats don't show that she is less popular.
She will either be too strong or useless.
how can condemn be too strong when holding the tape disables condemn mechanic?
I don‘t see how you want to balance her second version and remove the problems I said.
I just explained it. her tp mobility will not have a cooldown. instead the cooldown is condemn. This means that you can use your mobility as much as you want. This was something implemented in 3.0 version then it was removed. BVHR implemented change on wrong iteration of the killer.
when survivor grab a tape, the TV turns off for 70 seconds. Reduce cooldown to 30 seconds. 30 second is very short cooldown so much so that survivors taking tapes will barely impact her mobility because TV will turn on so quickly.
The current 3.0 Sadako verges on edge of being too potent in midwich and too weak on most other maps.
Okey that could work. Most people would probably still ignore condemned.
I would probably still prefer 1.0 personally, but your version would be fine. I‘m just not a fan of the condemned tp spam and the 2 stacks by hit when playing against 2.0 (it often snowballed me out really fast). I also like passive condemned.

The good point of 1.0 was that turning off TVs was not encouraged. I can assure you most people did not play her for condemned back then, because I was a survivor main at that time. Her pick rate decreased drastically after the rework. Before 1 of 10games I saw one Sadako→ after rework 1 of 20 games.
that is not true. her pick-rate was always nominal at 2%.
Here's otz old pick-rate chart BEFORE she got reworked(1.0)

This is her 2.0 pick-rate before she got nerfed.

There is no stats on 3.0 Sadako but i definitely do not see her very often. The turning off TV will be the same but the degree of how much it affects you from teleporting can be severe reduced by cooldown's of survivors picking up tapes and cooldown for teleporting. For example, 30 seconds of turning off TV from survivor grabbing a tape will barely be so short that your mobility will barely be affected.
I just wanted to say with that, that she got much rarer in my survivor rounds after the first rework. That does not mean it was the same for you.
That would make it less annoying for Sadako, but I think it would make this killer too strong. I don‘t see how you want to balance her second version and remove the problems I said. She will either be too strong or useless.
I think the best way would be to give her a global condemned addon and return her to the first version.

As survivor I only have fun playing in a good swf. I used to be a survivor main, but this game is just not fun and the devs prove with each update they don‘t want it to be fun for survivors. So now I only play fun killers without slowdowns, so that survivors even got a chance.
