Truth. But not having a proper matchmaking system 4 years into the games lifespan is just plain idiotic. One would think it had higher priority.
It should be higher priority

Yeah that's super frustrating for you guys. I'm red rank for both survivor and killer so I have no issue playing red rank games. If anything, as a solo, it's harder for me to actually escape as survivor than me getting winning as killer. There's a lot of survivors who clearly do not belong in red ranks at all and the SWF I sometimes get matches with do not bother saving me at all despite me lasting in chases/repairing all the gens. As killer, the competition I face off against are the team mates I wish I had when I play solo, but the difference is that as killer, I can control the match most of the time to my liking.
I highly suggest you take a small break for the game if this is getting to you. Whenever I lose as killer, I take it as learning opportunities to perform better next match. You can't win em all!
When I'm facing survivors who are clearly not very good at the game, I will hook them once or twice and let them repair generators, pretend to chase them so they get points, etc. I sympathize with those not so good survivors and don't want to make their experience frustrating if I go all out. The queue times for survivors are long so why make them wait so long for a not so pleasant match?
Yeah im taking a break so far and ik yoi cant win them all. But when every matxh survivors bully you it gets annoying

It's so bad right now. There's nothing fun about waiting 15 mins for a game only for it to end in 5 because the killer was a lower rank. Good luck to you, hopefully they fix this soon.
Same here bro, i hope the mmr thing gets added soon so the game can be what it was intended to be

Switch to survivor... more and more killer switching to play survivor is more and more healthier to the game, devs want the killers to switch to survivor thats why the matchmaking is being this and thats why killers are so bugged and most of them underpowered.
Ok but why would they do that? I dont see the point. Make one part of their game and the thing that brings most people into the game intentionally bad so they can play another mode? I dont see the point cause you could say money but they spend money working on the killers too so i dont see the point. That would be very stupid

No, they work on things concurrently. Why would they have dozens of people (I think hundreds at this point) working on a single aspect of the game? That would just make a big mess of things, there'd be too many people to coordinate.
Well i dont know, im not a game dev i didnt know how things worked. I already had respect for game devs and everything for their passion and all but now i understand a bit more

Fun fact: developers can split into teams to work on multiple things at the same time. In fact, it's preferred. Too many cooks and all that.
Wait but arent they assigned to something specific? Like cosmetics, chapter development ect?

Whats wrong with the devs posting pics of there cats? They have a life you know. they dont spend 24/7 working
Yep, good point. Still think they want to do a good job at their game and try to please the community and give them what they want but want to make a balance between working on the game that literlly changer their lives and their actual day to day life

@Dahaka420 said:
At least your purple rank. Imagine how us low rank killers fell i.e rank 16 and below feel. I'm getting matches that at least half the team is rank 8 to rank 1.Send a report to the devs just to get a bot response of we are working around the clock to fix it. But they have the balls to tweet out pics of cats and other bs instead of giving a update on this and other major issues i.e the rank up error. The match making has cost me ranks because I go from having a good game aginst ppl in my rank area 20-15 to getting bent over by a team of rank 4 to 1 . Sorry didn't try to highjack this but I feel your pain as a killer, but because we arn not survivors the devs don't care because the survivors are happy to get free wins.
I know and it isnt just red ranks it happens in literlly all ranks. When i was a rank 20 and didmt understand rank yet i would literlly go up agaisnt rank 10. Yes bot responses are a bit annoying and dont help the issue alot. And now it feels like everyone runs prove thyself to counteract the gen slowdown speed so the gen speed nerf pretty much didnt happen. Nowadays if j wanna have " fun " and not get stressed i have to play survivor and its not really fun cause i get low rank killers and i feel bad for them and i give them the kill most times cause i feel their pain
-
@illusion said:
Yeah, you might want to take a break until you can come up with a way of playing and having fun. Killer is stressful. Giving up in a game or DCing is not a good way of dealing with it. That just feeds your frustration even more. While it can be a good way to improve your skill (playing against more experienced players), it gets old, especially when certain survivors throw it in your face. Though, I find playing new killers that I am bad at, just to screw around and have fun with, to be quite relaxing.
Yeah i get you, its a good way to look at it. I just get frustrated when i get looped for basically most of the game and i dont get my first hook until the third or fourth gen pops and survivors dont miss the chance to tease me the moment they have a chance. And i know this part is stupid but the comment has always stuck with md for some reason cause i feel like im bad at the game " gen rushing is just another way to say you are doing a bad job at applying pressure to survivors " ever since i read that from puppers i feel like my play style changed cause i usually play killers that donr have alot of map pressure on their own because i have fun with them. Legion ( only started playing him after the rework so im not that annoying ) and now deathslinger a bit since i finally got enough iredescent shards to buy him. But now theres a glith that kicks you out the game when you reload so i havent played him in a bit and a glitch with legion that he cant vault in frenzy but im not a dev i cant fix anything.

I feel you. I've moved on to being toxic or being silly. Face camping, ebony mori off first hook, tunneling. Or pig and go boop farming. Pips don't matter any more, since you face red ranks from rank 20 right on down.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1284331#Comment_1284331
It's not him doing wrong. You can't expect a 100 hour killer to go up against 1k hour survivors. I swear I don't know how this game has any player base with how poorly the game is made. This crap has been broken for 6 months and NOTHING out of bhvr. Matchmaking should have been fixed in two weeks.
It feels like the matchmaking has been worse for way longer honestly. But then againi mainly play killer so i dont know. Ive had the game since april of last year but got into it when stranger things got announced.

Still, I really hope your problem gets sorted soon! I know how much it can suck to not be able to play a killer you enjoy due to bugs.
Ill try to get around it somehow. I play one of the worst killers in the game if played incorrectly. But i also have fun with other killers like oni and myers. I have found glitches with them too. Nog being able to vault windows but i stipl enjoy the game. And yes i main legion, still kinda annoyed cause im oevel 50 now and still havent found thananophobia in the blood wed. Still need to level up nurse to get nurses calling but ywah hope to see you around too

When is this going to stop? Killer is already laughably easy to play and survivors keep getting nerfed EVERY single patch. Survivor hasn't been fun to play for a long time now end they just make it even worse for them. Every single match as survivor now is always a worry of who's gonna get face camped or how ridiculous killer range is. But i want to hear from everyone else on what you think, do you think this is becoming too much? Or do you still somehow think "sUrViVoRs oP pLs NeRf"
Survivors and killers id say are in a pretty good spot right not, both of them. Killer have been getting more nerfs tho. Sure they nerfed gen speeds for survivor because gen rushing is a thing. That has been somewhat fixed but killer nerfs have made them worse. Wraith now takes longer to cloak and uncloak, spirit got prayer beads reworked, nurse got less blicks, ruin got reworked ect. Sure there are killers that are "op" like spirit and myers but a good sirvivor will know how to counter them for sure. If you play the game more you wipp eventuallu counter these killers easily. So yeah killer isnt easy, if anything survivor is easy. Just press m1 and if you get in a chase run to the nearest pallet and try to loop.

For The Legion
You can try something like Thanatophobia, Pop Goes the Weasel, Nurse's Calling, and BBQ & Chili. This build will allow you to focus on The Legions main objective "damage over downing", which also punishes Survivors if they try to heal to avoid the debuffs.
Nurse's Calling gives you the ability to see anyone that's healing within 28 meters, which is great for The Legion to get some fast downs. Thanatophobia and Pop are used as anti-gen perks, which lets you reduce any progress that's happening in-game. And BBQ & Chili is to give you more awareness of where the rest of the team is after a hook. Depending on if everyone is injured or not, it gives you a general idea of who to go chase next.
For Huntress
You can try a standard build like Corrupt Intervention, Nurse's Calling, Whispers, and BBQ & Chili. The Huntress benefits a lot for Corrupt because of her slow movement speed, so keeping the 3 farthest Generators blocked can give you a decent advantage at the start. If you think you can handle Huntress without Corrupt, than try something like Pop for anti-gen pressure or Iron Maiden for faster reload speed.
As for the rest, they focus on general location and aura reading for some potential cross map hatchet throws OR useful hunting bonuses. Nurse's will help you find anyone that's healing within 28 meters, BBQ gives you a new target to chase immediately/a chase to hit them with a hatchet from afar, and Whispers will help you figure out where a Survivor/Survivor team is within a radius of 32 meters. Keep in-mind that all of these are max tier perk descriptions, which will be a reoccurring theme with this explanation.
For Michael Myers
Now, I main Michael Myers, so the build i'm giving you is primarily what I use. It's both beneficial, meta, and useful for mostly every situation and scenario. The build I recommend is Corrupt Intervention, Nurse's Calling, BBQ & Chili, and Monitor & Abuse. A similar concept to The Huntresses build, but a bit different. Corrupt, like for the Huntress, is to help you out at the start of the trial.
You start off with a short lunge and slow movement speed, so having this additional help is great for getting into Tier ll and maybe even Tier lll. Nurse's Calling is AMAZING on any stealth Killer, since it lets you know if anyone is healing within 28 meters without tipping them off to your location. How? Because Michael Myers Terror Radius is by default small, specially at Tier l which is suppressed entirely! This is where Monitor & Abuse comes in as well, it reduces your Terror Radius outside of chases by 8, and increases it when in chases by 8.
So if you use with his Michael Myers default Terror Radius (at Tier ll, which is 16 meters), than your Terror Radius is reduced to 8 when outside of chases! This basically means you emit no Terror Radius until you're right on top of a Survivor. As for BBQ, like for most Killers as well, it's used for getting a general view of where the team is and a potential next chase as well. Keep in-mind that if they're within 40 meters of the hook than they will not be "picked up" by BBQ & Chili.
For any Survivor (specifically nea in this case)
I'd advise you to keep Spine-Chill for several reasons. Spine-Chill is a great perk for countering stealth Killers, but it's also a great perk for knowing if a Killer is coming directly for you with it's "light up" notification. It's a very underrated perk, so don't toss if in my opinion.
As for the build, you can try something like Self-Care, Botany Knowledge, Spine-Chill, and Decisive Strike. This is a fairly meta build that focuses more on your own self preservation, rather than your teams. If you want to mix it up, you can try Kindred, Spine-Chill, We'll make it, and Botany Knowledge. This build focuses on healing other Survivors over your own self preservation. Botany Knowledge is for if you can't get an unhook, and We'll make it is for a quick unhook heal on a Survivor you rescued. Spine-Chill and Kindred gives you a general idea of where a Killer could be (if they don't have the undetectable status effect), so it's great for most Killers!
You really don't need Urban Evasion in my opinion, walking and tactical crouching is enough if you're focusing on stealth. If you REALLY want to focus on stealth, than you can try something like Head-On, Quick and Quiet, Lithe, and Dance With me. This build is called a "Houdini Build", and for good reasons as well! If you're in a chase, than you can fast vault and suppress your scratch marks for a few seconds with Dance with me, while also getting a speed boost with Lithe (which also stops at the same time Dance with me does). With that in-mind, it's great if you're on an in-doors map or around a building that you can use as cover for a run away. Once you get away, you can quickly enter a nearby locker with Quick and Quiet and use Head-On in-case the Killer tries to open any lockers they think you're in!
conclusion
Hope this helps, you probably got everything you need but I thought i'd chime in with something as well. Stay safe out there, see you in the fog...
Second time tou have answered my question. Thats suprising. Ill be sure to use the builds you mention. They sound really good amd useful to have fun, get better and rank up. Thanks for everything. But quick question for you, in the self care, botany knowladge, spine chill and ds build. Could it work if i swapped botany knowladge for an exhaustion perk? Maybe balanced or dead hard. But the build sounds very good ill try it out and see how well i do.
-
@FichteHiro said:
For Survivor, I like running different builds every game, some gimmick builds included. However, if you're wanting to escape, I recommend running a meta build. Some decent meta perks include:
- Decisive Strike
- Dead Hard
- Unbreakable
- Iron Will
- Adrenaline
- Sprint Burst
- Head On
- Borrowed Time
- Deliverance
For Killer, there isn't much you can do to slow down Gens on some Maps, but the best slow-down perks are Corrupt Intervention and PGTW. However, each Killer has a specific build that synergizes with their power, you mentioned the Killers you main, so the best builds for them are (in my opinion):
- Legion: Save the Best For Last, Thanatophobia, Corrupt Intervention/PGTW, A Nurse's Calling.
- Myers: Infectious Fright, Corrupt Intervention/PGTW, Monitor & Abuse, Brutal Strength/Enduring.
- Huntress: Corrupt Intervention, PGTW, A Nurse's Calling, BBQ & Chili.
Thanks man, toi gave me alot of great perk ideas
-
@Cheers said:
For survivor, my build is balanced landing and spinechill like you, and then Iron Will and Small Game. You can switch small game if you want, but if you are worried about NoeD I'd run it.
For Legion, my build is a slowdown build. Thanataphobia, Dying light, BBQ & Chili and Hex: Ruin, with The Legion Pin add on.
I'm not a great Huntress, but my build is BBQ & Chili, Pop goes the Weasel, Iron Maiden and Nurses Calling. Any exhaustion add ons are great, and my personal favourite, Deerskin gloves. Extra hatchets are good too.
Myers is great with Infectious Fright and Monitor & Abuse. For other perks, I'd say Play with your Food and Pop goes the Weasel.
Even tho yoy said you dont play some of these killers you still gave me really good ideas. Thanks about that

I know it doesnt make you feel any better, but seeing as to how the top guy only got 20k-something and everyone else was in the teens, it couldnt have been THAT bad. You probably killed most of them, with those numbers. Which just means either you should be higher or they should be lower. Just because they are red ranks doesnt mean they deserve to be there or are better than you. The system is broke.
Suprisingly you made me feel a little better, maybe they didnt deserve to be in red ranks but just because i couls not do mt objective most of the time cause they wpuld always loop me and i could not do anything was stressful. I really want to get better at the game but think its dumb that i have to purchase dlc to have goos stuff in the game to have a chance to win its a bit dumb. But they made a pretty good job at making me waste my money on killers and perks
-
@GrannyonAcid said:
I mean. What makes you so sure they're a SWF team? There's plenty of solo red ranks that probably would've been able to play well against you anyway. I'm just always curious why killers are so convinced that they're playing against SWF teams. Anyway.... Matchmaking is broken right now. Everyone knows that by now. It's not going to be fixed any time soon. I'd suggest it you can't handle the heat in the kitchen, switch over to survivor. Playing killer is going to be difficult. The amount of 3,000-5,000 hours survivors that this game has is high. The amount of 2,000 hour killers is low.
They need a new ranking system it's clear. A 300 hour killer is never going to have fun in this game playing against 3,000 hour survivors. That's why I no longer queue as killer. Game is actually busted as hell. And even if you were in the normal ranks... You'd just be facing people that are returning to the game or haven't played since rank reset. They'd still have a ton more hours then you and school you.
Nothing anyone can do about it. Until they figure out how to take 5000 hour survivors and put them against 5000 hour killers. The game will never be fair. Some of us have accepted it.
Im playing survivor mor than i used too because i atleast have a little fun in survivor but the quetimes kill it for me and thats why i play killer cause the que time is shorter, but hopefully they will do something

I get the same as killer. I stopped playing killer for awhile because of it. I am all for 'getting good' but when you go from potato survivors to god survivors it makes learning to play at high ranks much more difficult.
I love playing both roles tho so I am back at killer again. I have found not engaging in long chases helps. Red ranks know how to loop. It is easier to drop them and hopefully find someone else who isn't in such a strong area/position.
I think as killer you just have to keep at it, and when you know you are in a hopeless game just look at it as practice :) I will say F it and just chase the survivors around watching what they do and try to predict their movements.
Also having no add-ons and less then ideal perks doesn't help. What I did was play survivor for the bp, then use that to level my killers :) playing killers while also leveling them is very painful... I did that with Hag. Never again! I either go in fully equiped or not at all ^^"
Yeah ik my oerks stent that good, i usually play legion and huntress and hsve been getting pretty good with spirit but i wanted to play hillbilly becsuse i dont have to try so much. He is a " relaxing " killer to play that you just chainsaw around the map but i still need good perks thst i always run like bbq and save the best for last

Your main issue is a common error that a lot of players are facing right now. I don't know much about it, but you can try delving into the Technical Issues sub-forum to find an answer about it. I'm sure there's a post about it already there and I can even link you to the sub-forum at the end of this comment.
As for the 2nd issue, your PS4 is probably getting "faster and louder" because the game is loading everything in for you. The first loading screen is usually where a lot of stuff needs to "warm up" first before it shows up on screen. The same goes for loading into a match, the game needs to load in your characters, the map, the obstacles and tiles, etc. It's pretty common to have this happen with any game you play, I doubt it's anything deep rooted itself.
Here's the link to the technical issues sub-forum

Thank you so much man, you really helped

Ok so has the game been acting a bit weird for any of you? Everytime i log on to play survivor i have to wait like 30 minutes because after like 5 minutes in que i get a message saying that an error has occured, after i get in a game it is going fine until for no reason i get kicked out and ofcourse that counts as dc and i cant plet for a bit. This has happened 3 times in a row and ive teied stuff to fix it like restart my eouter but nothing because all other games on my ps4 work fine but dbd has been acting weird, are the servers down or something is happening?
2. This is mainly for ps4 players. So when someone logs in to play does their ps4 start running faster than it should in the loading screen? What i mean by that is that the ps4 fan is getting faster and faster and ofcourse louder and louder Im asking cause idk if its normal or i should do something.
I did try and take a video of my ps4 doing that but i could not put the file for some reason

You sound like a good killer. Take matches like those as a measuring stick to see just how good you are and what skills do you need to improve on. It's a slow process, but if you're dedicated to getting better, you'll be able to not only hang with the higher ranks, but win some games too. Don't let it frustrate you though and know your limitations, your strengths will be enough to get you by. Good luck in the fog!
Thanks man, i think i am a good killer plsyer but i want to get better and really see what the game has to offer. I am practicing almost everyday i play and it has worked out so far. Ill do my best to stick with your feedback. Stay safe in the fog

Going up against people that are better than you is pretty much the best way to get better. As long as you're open minded, reviewing your gameplay, identifying what you could do to improve, and actively trying to implement those improvements; then you're going to learn more from losses than wins.
However, if you're also trying to win or enjoy yourself in addition to getting better, then I can understand the frustration. But as far as getting better alone is concerned, that's almost the perfect environment.
Thanks for that man, i really want to get better but enjoy the game aswell. But yeah thanka for the info man
