Well now I'm just confused again.
From what I was just linked with the 6.1.0 PTB patch notes, it should go like this:
-If the character has 70 or more Perks unlocked (Counting each tier of a perk separately):
-1 level for 70-119 Perks
-2 levels for 120-169 Perks
-3 levels for 170-219 Perks
-4 levels for 220-269 Perks
-5 levels for 270-319 Perks
-6 levels for 320+ Perks
So a default lvl 50 character with no prestige with anywhere between 70-119 perk tiers will get p1 when the update hits, p2 if they have 120-169, and p3 if they have 170-219 perk tiers. From the developer update, I understood it as ONLY the prestige levels getting doubled in how they will count towards the prestige, NOT perk tiers. So from what I can gather, a prestige 1 character with 70 perk tiers on them will be p4 in the new Mid-Chapter. They will get p3 from having p1 before the update plus the 2 bonus levels per prestige, and then an added prestige to make it p4 for having 70 perk tiers. Am I missing something or is this not how it would work?
The resulting prestige levels is: Your current prestige + prestige bonus + perk tier bonus.
Prestige bonus is 2 for each prestige levels you have before the update.
Perk tiers bonus is based on those numbers you wrote.

@fogdonkey claimed it would take 120 + 1 tiers, not 90 to be counted as prestige I and thus bonus bumped to Prestige III in 6.1.0. At least that is the math I am sticking with for now just to be sure.
120 would give to prestige levels. I am doing 121 for safety.

Really not liking the change made to the prestige catch-up mechanic. It rewards people the most that get to P3 without going for any perks.. But people that got P3 + max perks get screwed because it's now capped at P9. I prefer the system before because I at least got 3 extra prestige levels for having max perks, which put me at P12. Odd that they're making this change when it's so close to the release of the update and people already made plans on how to level previously
I doesn't hurt you, just helps others.

Just curious, where are you getting these perk tier to prestige level convergence rates? I've seen some threads with these numbers being thrown around, I just haven't seen where they actually came from. If I could just lvl up the characters with event items to have a p3 giving lvl of perk tiers instead of P1ing them and losing them all, that would be great!

You will get more just from your perk tiers. And also you don't lose your add-ons and offerings.
- 1 level for 70-119 Perk tiers
- 2 levels for 120-169 Perk tiers
- 3 levels for 170-219 Perk tiers
- 4 levels for 220-269 Perk tiers
- 5 levels for 270-319 Perk tiers
- 6 levels for 320+ Perk tiers
If you have a character on e.g. level 40 then it is worth it to prestige. If you have 170+ perk tiers then don't prestige.
Otherwise you need to think a bit about the pros cons. Personally when I was just below 120 perk tier i just bought some more to secure prestige 2.

Gosh all my addons though for killer specifically are telling me not to p1 everyone lol. I did it to survivor without a second thought because i didn't really care.
Yeah... With killer you need to think a bit. What I did is to make sure that I have enough perk tiers for the next level. E.g. i had 110 perk tiers on one killer, so levelled up to 121, because from 120 is two levels of prestige.

If this prestige conversion is true, it would make me play killer so much more. Right now I mostly play surv because I haven't grinded enough killers to get good perks on them, or perks that make for interesting and fun builds on specific killers. But if I had all the teachables at lvl 3? My goodness there would be soooooo many builds I would want to try out! This whole revelation is very exciting if it does turn out to be true!
Yeah... I was telling for a long time that they should give out the perks a lot easier... The grind should go only for add-ons, offerings, etc. But perks are such a basic thing, and often one of the selling point of new DLCs... But what if you can't use them...
I think that's how it works, it is in the new update. Prestige 3 would result in 9, so 1 will result in 3.

For sure, honestly if it is true that P1 will become P3 I'm still comprehending how much grind that will cut down. I will be able to play any surv or killer I want with any perk build that I want, and that's just plain amazing to me.
Yeah, would be amazing for us!

It's not "jealousy". I don't mind people getting P9 from being P3 before the update. It's just BHVR being stingy and capping the prestige when we were told we'd be getting P12 if we had P3 + max perks that makes it frustrating, and they tell us this a week before the update is coming out lol so there isn't much time for it to be fixed.
I see... I am sorry that you will see number 9 instead of number 12. Maybe they can still uncap it for you.
-
Based on the dev update it seems like yes. Originally it was just one bonus, i.e. 1->2, but with this update it is going to be 1->3.
Btw, i think even with 1->2 it is worth to prestige if you are around level 40+ and don't care about losing items. With 1->3 it is definitely worth it.

I believe so, but want confirmation ASAP so I can prestige all my survivors and Killers. Don't care about loosing the add-ons if it means every character will have every perk.
This would be great, I have many survivors I don't actually play that much and are on levels around 40... Prestiging to 1 wouldn't be that hard and if it would result in prestige 3 with all teachables unlocked on tier 3 would help a lot for me.

Yeah it's actually insane that they're making this change. I have everyone P3 + max perks and I'll be P9 which is the same prestige that everyone else will be that got to P3 with no perks.. The old catch up mechanic was more fair to people that put in more time and effort.
That's literally thousands of hours of effort wasted because they decided to cap the prestige levels
Don't be jealous... Hopefully you were playing for fun...
-
- Why would you play X?
- Because you want to.
-
Perk tier removal + current grind rework is what would be ideal.

This is still terrible killers leave for every random reason... Then of course we will end up only with a sweatier killer usually.
Instill think there should be a lobby dodge penalty until matchmaking is not fixed for this.

Based on my understanding in the new system you don't need to level up a character to level 40 or 50 to unlock it's teachable perks on other characters. Once you buy a DLC the perks will start appearing in bloodwebs of all characters immediately and you can buy tier1, tier2 and tier3 perks.
Do you have a source for this? It's the first time I hear this
Unfortunately it is incorrect. You need to prestige1 to unlock the perks. Was confirmed by some bhvr moderator.

Honestly something like that existing seems weird for PvP game.
It is important to have hatch, it keeps the hope that the survivor might still escape. Otherwise what's the point in playing the game for the survivors if there are already 2 survivors sacrificed but still 3 gens remaining. Then they should add a surrender button.
-
@RavenBirb said:
a survivor can still click and win the match and there's nothing the killer can do if they don't make it there first or at the same time. I really don't understand why the grab feature was taken out, I've been saying over and over simple changes could change this game for the better but it never happens.
There is a counter to it: don't be a sweaty 4ss player who needs to 4k every game. :D
-
It doesn't matter how much you guys have, because most of you will not put them as an offering, so it is the same as you wouldn't have any.
-
This update reduces the growth of the total grind to linear, i.e. 2xmore DLC = roughly 2xmore grind. Currently the growth is quadratical (not sure why they say exponential), i.e. 2xmore DLC = roughly 4xmore grind.
Removing perk tiers would reduce the grind, but it would not fix the quadratical growth.
They could however remove the perk tiers in addition to the PTB grind update.
Note: The PTB grind reworks increases the grind of players who only want to max out 1-2 characters, because they need to level them up to 50 instead of 30-40 to unlock the perks. But I think that's not a big increase given that the grind to maintain those 1-2 characters is pretty low. But still it is unneeded to increase it, so yeah, they should fix that.

We did math, it won't.
It depends on how many characters you care about. If you actually want to play all killers for example, it will be 50% lower.
but addons will be harder to get with all those resets.
I play only one survivor, so for me it increased by 20% instead.
If you play only one survivor that's not a lot of grind, so a 20% extra is not that terrible. But of course it is unnecessary, why do they increase it...

I don’t like that idea; because then when it is my turn to be camped on hook, what is left for me?
I would like them to consider fluctuating the sacrificial timer based on the killer’s proximity to the hook. Obviously goes slower when they are too close, but perhaps it could also be sped up if they go away. The only problem with the latter part may be teleporting killers, who can start a faster timer sooner, but also go right back to the hook.
It is bad luck if you are camped for multiple hook states. Ideally the other survivors finish the gens and the killer learns that it is not a good strategy.
I think it is impossible to fix every possible corner case, or you would need a large set of complicated rules.

@Tsulan said:
I don´t get why they can´t implement server sided detection. Since everything has to pass over the dedicated server, the system should check if someone goes over the allowed speed, use one time perks several times, got out of downed status in X amount of times, etc.
I was also wondering why is this not possible, I have these ideas why it is not done:
1) they don't want to spend time and money on implementing it.
2) running these servers would be more resource intensive and therefore more expensive.
3) they don't know how to do it.
On the other hand... What if rubber banding is a sign of they implementing it? Sometimes because of some communication lag the server moves you back to the position where it thinks you should be.

@Cybil said:
If they did something like that then I think the devs would have to make hooking the priority over killing survivors. I'm not sure if they'd ever go that route despite how much I'd love it.
I think I'd rather have a borrowed time user give one of their hook states to the person they saved.
@Laluzi said:
That would be overpowered and pretty much mandatory on survivor builds. Even if you're permanently debuffed afterwards, you still have an extra life and that's gamechanging - more gens, more chases. For a perk like that to ever work, it'd have to have some other tradeoff that took place earlier in the trial. Think No Mither.
I also don't know how that would work with killer emblems or the hook counter.
@AndyKuky said:
Sure, as long as killers got a perk to remove a hook state.
@GoshJosh said:
I think not. Three hooks is challenging enough for a lot of the killer roster. Not to mention it would require reworking a core feature of the game, and a lot of associated perks.
Once I posted an idea about shared hook counts, i.e. there are 12 hook states in total just like now, but the survivors who are hooked first can use more than 3. I think it could solve tunneling and camping.
It is described in this post in more detail:
@fogdonkey said:
Currently each survivor has to be hooked 3 times (or go through 3 hook stages) to be sacrificed. So it is relatively easy to tunnel a single survivor out or camp them to death (Bubba).
My suggestion:
Each survivor has to be hooked only 2 times to be sacrificed (or go through 2 hook stages), BUT there are 4 hook stages shared between survivors. It means that the first 4 hooks or hook stages will be subtracted from this shared hook count, not from the personal one.
How does this solve tunneling and camping? Tunneling a single survivor would mean that they need to be hooked 6 times! Also camping would take a long 6 hook stages!
Possible balancing options: Limit how many hook stages can a single survivor use from this shared count. E.g. each survivor can use at most only 2 out of the 4, which would mean that some survivors would have 4 hook stages instead of the current 3.
Possible issues: Survivors killing themselves on hook could hurt the team more, but they already hurt, so the situation is not getting much worse. Possibly kobe attempts should be disbaled after 1 hook stage, struggling should happen only at the last hook stage. In the meantime they would just hang.
Let me know what you think. But keep the discussion on point: how to improve this system, what are some other possible issues and how to fix them, etc. I want constructive feedback. I don't care about your personal issues with some tbagging survivors or how to nerf dead hard, etc. Open a separate forum thread for those.
-
If you don't understand this change, the simple rule is to not prestige before the update.

It's really not jealousy. It's the "even x streamer said this" as if his words and opinions have higher value of anyone else. He's a content creator and that's his job, so he can bring to the attention of more people some issues that otherwise might go unnoticed, but his opinions are his own. The thing that probably annoys is that some people take any streamers words as words of authority and base their own opinions on those people, and then share them around saying stuff like the title of this thread.
Who cares what *he* said?
He made a nice video demonstrating the power of 3 second stun against various killers. That's why it was linked, not because he is Otzdarva. "Even Otzdarva said" is more like "he made a nice video demonstrating this issue".

And sure swf is very sweaty believe me, i play mostly GF, so I know how hard it is. however most of the player base is casual meaning u cant butcher soloq because of swf.
Pretty strong, especially against soloq.
SWF: "gen was kicked, I am in a chase, go tap it".
Soloq: good luck.

I would have gladly, GLADLY avoided doing that if I had known they would have given them even without having to lose all my limited addons, items and wasting bloodpoints
I would have already had some exclusive icons to show my dedication to the game, do you want to know how they look like? Like this (yeah, luckily I hadn't prestiged Legion)

I'm not alone complaining, and I feel like we all gave the reasons why we do that.

There's a lot going on in this ptb, lots of perk changes. People are going to be playing it for probably longer than a new killer to test them out. BVHR wants as many to play to test it out to see if they need to make tweeks, so they don't want to give incentive for PC players not to play in the PTB. They for sure aren't extending it though, they would have already said if they were.
IMO, the people who install PTB are usually those who finish the event in 2 days after it starts. :D
So they would not lose many PTB testers if they extend the event.
-
Then just play the role you want if the bonus is not worth it for you.
There will be others who switch because of it.
-
Pretty short, what if someone is on a holiday or can't play for other reasons during these 2 weeks?
-
You prestiged for bloody cosmetics, that was your reward. You did it, because it was worth it for you. Another reward you do not realize is that since you already have the bloody cosmetics, you don't need to go to prestige 6 to get them.
If you are now complaining then why did you even prestige?

You'll need to prestige a character at least once for their unique perks to appear in another character's bloodweb, but the tier 1 version will be automatically available.
Thanks for the reply. Maybe you could consider lowering the prestige to 40 levels. 120 prestige levels to get to tier3 perks is still a lot and 240 levels to unlock bloody cosmetics also shows quite a lot of dedication.
-
@Peanits said:
For a single character, it will take a little longer to max them out, yes, but the new system quickly takes over in efficiency as you start adding more characters. I have a write up for it here:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3017065#Comment_3017065
In short, if you want to max out just one character, you can prestige the others once for more or less the same effect (+10 levels per character compared to the current system). But if you ever get bored of that character and want to switch it up, you've wasted far fewer levels than the old system.
Do I have to prestige a character to be able to use its teachable perks on other characters? My assumption was that prestige gives tier1 teachable perk to everyone, and if I don't prestige it just means that I need to buy tier1 as well from the bloodweb.
So to summarize my question: Is it possible to level up only a single survivor and get all existing perks on that single survivor without leveling up the other survivors?
-
@anarchy753 said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3029946#Comment_3029946
Ok? It wasn't worse by one bloodweb though, and that also assumes that a new player is going to go "well, I unlocked 3 new perks, but I guess I'm not going to level them up at all on the character I actually play until I spend 50 more levels on another character, because I really want to save that one bloodweb!"
It also presumes that a player buys characters and chapters in bulk which certainly isn't true for everyone, as many players will only buy new characters once they've worked on the ones they currently own.
The grind is worse for new players, why bother to nitpick that fact? We should be fighting to get them to actually address the problems rather than go "that's not a problem that affects me, so ######### those new players!"
I replied on your post. I think you don't need to level up to 50 to unlock the perks, they will appear in bloodweb immediately after buying the DLC.
-
Based on my understanding in the new system you don't need to level up a character to level 40 or 50 to unlock it's teachable perks on other characters. Once you buy a DLC the perks will start appearing in bloodwebs of all characters immediately and you can buy tier1, tier2 and tier3 perks.
If you level up a character to 50 then all characters will get the tier1 version of the teachable perks and you will need to buy tier2 and tier3 in bloodwebs.
-
My understanding is that there are no real teachable perks, so you don't need to upgrade to 40 or 50, you can start buying the perks on any character once you buy a DLC. If you level up the character to 50, then you will get tier1 perk on every character. But if you care only about one character, then you just continue leveling that character you care about and buy the new perks on tier 1, 2, 3. You don't need to level up the new DLC to 40 or 50 to unlock the new perks.

Math wise the grind is going down by 75% because now you need less levels to get all the perks, however because bbq is leaving and wglf is leaving we effectively take twice as long to get through each level per character because bp GAINED is cut in half, so it more effectively is removing 37.5% of the grind instead of 75% because those levels will take twice as long so the only real value is not needing to level up the other characters 5-6 times every time a new one is added, so instead of 200 levels then 150 extra its only 200 levels but those levels take twice as long
You are mixing up the numbers... It is going down by 75%, i.e. falling to 25% of the original grind... But without bbq it is 2 times harder, so it is falling only to 50 % of the original, i.e. it is going down by 50 percent.
-
@DrDeepwound said:

I did. Survivors are only skins. There is literally no point in prestiging 26 survivors 3 times. Especially if you only want the perks on 1 char.
And I don't understand how can BHVR let this happen, this way they sell less cosmetics and lose money. Example: I would really buy this cool Nea skin, but I have only 20 perks on her, so I won't buy it, because I won't play Nea and I am not willing to level her up because of a skin.
-
@dugman said:
Also honestly a lot of perks do not need to be at tier 3 to be useful. Many of them work just fine at rank 1 or 2. For instance I don’t think there’s any significant difference between Devour Hope 1 and 2 and 3, they’re all effectively on par with each other.
That’s not to say some perks aren’t more useful at level 3. But you definitely don’t actually need to level literally everything to Tier 3 to have good builds.
Then we should remove perk tiers. But for some reason BHVR did not want to do it.
But anyway... Why is at issue to be able to get all perks on max tier in a reasonable time? Probably because they still want to make it hard, because bloodpoints lose value if you have unlocked everything, and then e.g. matchmaking incentives stop working. But I think BHVR is implementing this the wrong way. Perks should be free/easy to get. Add-ons and items should be difficult: then you are motivated to perform well so that you can finance your iri add-ons.
