  • There's little I need to say as it has already been said at length by practically every single human who plays this game. UI is terrible, animations are questionable, and Clown's changes seem underwhelming.

I'm less upset with the bad and confusing changes (I've just come to expect that from BHVR at this point) and more upset with the fact that the PTB's appear to be completely pointless beyond creating a false sense of dev/player collaboration.

Consistently, we are provided with Player Test Builds that are barely functional, and therefore our feedback is also mostly useless. It's like handing us a cup with no bottom and asking us to drink from it. It's insulting.

We've had builds where the Killer powers don't work (Ghost Face, Blight), builds with massive mechanical oversights that begs the question of whether or not the devs play their own game (The Twins), and never in these instances are the players afforded the opportunity to play a revised build that is actually functional. In many cases, a functional version doesn't even make it to the live version. PTB's should be about testing the minutia, the fine-tuning, not asking your players to identify the broken sh*t your own play-testers should have spotted on day one.

The saddest part is, even if the DBD devs were just hopelessly inept at what they do, they could still save themselves by simply honoring what the PTB is for: PLAYER FEEDBACK.

Not only are they not listening to the feedback, they are outright ignoring it. Changes requested by the community en masse are routinely ignored, while changes nobody asked for are regularly implemented. Sometimes they listen, but usually only to roll back some bad change they made in the first place. Comments like the one recently made by not_Queen about how the UI now cannot be changed back (which is total bullsh*t btw) despite a resoundingly negative response from the community, also indicates that BHVR just kind of just makes whatever decisions they want without actually waiting to hear from us.

So again, the point of the PTB is what, exactly?

Fingers crossed for a DbD competitor with some actual staying power that gives BHVR a run for their money. We'll see how quickly they change their business model when there's actual competition.

  • The MMR is garbage. Already encountered a few incensed players vowing to uninstall in the post-game chat when they see the ranks.

It's supposedly been working "behind the scenes" for a few months now. Either that was a total lie, or it wasn't working as intended, because I have been playing at red ranks that entire time and I am still paired with rank 20's every other game.

No matter how much information the MMR gathers on active players, it still doesn't seem to account for the new players whose MMR has not yet been determined and doesn't make any effort to place them. If it can't find perfect fits for the killer's MMR, it just grabs the next random low rank in queue to fill out the lobby.

There needs to be some kind of failsafe in place, perhaps determined by hours played, that prevents a survivor who is playing their first game of DBD ever from going against a rank 1 Nurse with 3k hours.

  • Consoles have built-in party chat and is 100% permitted by DbD.

100% what this guy said. You can't put an unranked mode in one of the most toxic online games and not expect it to not be a miserable bullyfest.

do you mean people cried about Hillbilly and now it's nerfed to the ground? rofl.

Uh, Hillbilly is not nerfed at all. His new "heat-up" mechanic was reduced to the point of being unnoticeable. All they actually changed were his add-ons, which is what needed the most work. His base kit is basically still identical.

  • It kinda seems that way. A surprising number of colorblind people play this game and have been pleading with BHVR to make scratches and auras a little bit clearer. This seems like the exact opposite.

I trust that they will revert it or try to improve it somehow. They listened to us with Billy, at least.

  • The new auras are abysmal for those of us with perfectly functioning eyes, I can't imagine what they're like for people with poorer eyesight or colorblindness. Did BHVR just decide to axe that entire portion of their audience?

  • I experience this issue at least once per game on Ps4 and its definitely cost me a few wins. The power will continue to passively recharge like old Oni, but if it fills in that manner, the power becomes unusable until you M1 a survivor.

  • I don't always agree with Scott, but he is 100% about both sounds and the new map.

Map is painful for every Killer except maybe Nurse, Freddy, and perhaps stealth killers. Any standard mobility killer will find this map extremely frustrating. Poor line of sight, twice as many ways down as there are up, making it basically impossible to interrupt survivors on gens if you're approaching from the first floor. So far, I would say any success I have had on this map as Killer is probably attributed to survivors being unfamiliar with it as well. Once they know the gen placement, efficiently pressuring this map will be brutal.

Some rooms have holes in the wall that connect them, some don't. I feel like eventually remembering which of these rooms are a dead end will be crucial to coraling survivors, though, so I can see the merit in it.

In general, I'm not a fan of indoor maps with so many hiding spots. The same bushes in Dead Dawg Saloon seem to be in the corners if the courtyard area and even survivors wearing neon cosmetics can hide in them and be invisible. When I play survivor, as cheeky as I find it to hide in plain sight from the Killer in a shrub, I do acknowledge that it's kind of bullsh*t.

Ive experienced many of these sound issues firsthand, and they seem to be more common on the new map. The sound occlusion in particular is really bad and some gens cannot be heard even with 3 survivors on it unless you approach it from a specific angle.

There's a lot of misleading sound fx on the new map as well. The crying woman in the stall, the rattling cages, etc. I don't have an issue with these sounds and I think it's a good way to keep the killer sharp with their ears. It becomes a problem, however, when the sounds of survivors don't work as intended.

  • Nurse is perfect.

  • You have to wait a long time in the lobby is your fault !.

lol dude, that is not why killer queues are long. If you want to complain about the behavior of Killers, that's fine, but don't try to say the queue has anything to do with your experiences with them.

Survivor-players are actually in the majority on this game. As survivor, I get lobbies instantly. As Killer, it takes 5-10 minutes. It's simply broken. It's not even that everyone is playing the new Killer anymore.

Sorry you're having a bad time, but don't spread misinformation.

    Hello

We have no plan at altering the current version of GhostFace. We will be monitoring his stats through out the next few weeks/months... The only way something would change is that if an exploit is found out.

    Enjoy GF! Happy killing!

    Thank you!

Confirmation of no change in spite of resounding disapproval from the community. Sad days.

  • Adrenaline and detection perks, for the most part. Spine Chill or OoO can really cuck your fun as a killer, unless you're Scratched Mirror Mikey.

As a killer who doesn't like to use NOED, Adrenaline is definitely super annoying. Whenever I go up against a 4-man Adrenaline team, I always kinda wish I brought NOED. 🤣

    Little mind game potential?!?!

He can kill off LoS by crouching behind obstacles, and he can turn off his red stain (almost) whenever he wants.

mind games with ANY killer is only limited to a players imagination and improvisation.

Based on my experiences in high rank play - yes - his mindgame potential is poor.

I'm specifically talking about mindgames at loops. I don't really consider breaking line-of-sight a mindgame, it's also something a survivor will expect if they're going against Ghost Face. Good survivors will also barely let him use Night Shroud, anyway.

Pig is actually the superior choice for LoS mindgames because she is actually silent when she goes into stealth.

He's a little better at loops now that the devs removed his static noise, but he still makes a good bit of noise, and switched-on survivors won't be fooled by his "stealth". Funnily enough, before it was removed, the omni-directional noise on his static actually made it easier to tell where he was.

No ghostface is seriously too OP. When I play as the hag I almost always get 4 or 3 out of 4 survivors if the last one doesn’t find the hatch.

Its not a survivor skill level issue on the survivor end. You want to fix ghostface? GIVE SURVIVORS PERKS THAT ACTUALLY NEUTRALIZE GHOSTFACE’s PERKS! Like #########?! Every game I get in with ghostface I ######### lose and everyone is using him it’s annoying

    Either you're trolling or you're rank 5000.

  • He's fun to mess around with, but he's definitely not a strong killer. Part of me wants to say you shouldn't buy him to send a message, but you do you.

  • Just finished four rounds at rank 2, two as Ghost Face, two as survivor.

My findings so far is that he is pretty much a joke. He was already easy to break out of stealth before, now it's almost back to what it was in the first PTB. I think anyone higher than green ranks will have little difficulty in deactivating his Night Shroud.

Removing his static noises while in stealth was a good move, but he's still quite noisy. His boots and clothes are still very loud. Why give Pig proper stealth but not poor Ghost Face?

Idk. Seems like another garbage M1 killer. Very little chase and mind-game potential, even with the improved stealth. I'll keep playing and see if my verdict changes, but it's not looking great.

  • DCing at Rank 15 against Wraith? Jaysus. What a bunch of babies.

The DC-ing problem is pretty disgusting and has been a rampant issue for years. It's more of a problem for Survivors. Every other game I play, the person who gets caught first will disconnect immediately because they don't want to be the first one hooked. Sometimes they're butthurt that they won't get to use Deliverance, but most of the time they're just entitled and do it because there's no actual repercussions. Meanwhile, this totally screws over the rest of your team.

I really hope the devs make good on their promise to crack down on this more when the dedicated servers are up, but all we can do is wait and see.

  • I see so many people asking for Chucky. He's really not that scary or that efficient of a killer. The Chucky movies themselves have gotten increasingly more tongue-in-cheek because they know it's not really scary enough to be taken seriously.

Chucky's kills always relied on him using his small size to set traps undetected, or to gain the element of surprise against those who think he's just a doll. He was never one of those "run around and chop people up" kind of slashers. I don't even think he could catch up to a normal-sized person in full sprint with his tiny legs. Can you imagine how silly it would be to see a 2-foot tall doll running around these maps? The devs would have to put his camera higher than his face just so he wasn't getting constant grass-vision.

  • "He doesn't need a buff, he just needs fixed. Taking him out of his ability is impossible sometimes and it is really frustrating as survivor. "

    Wat.

Seriously, he is the easiest Killer to cuck. Even mediocre survivors can break him out of stealth with little effort. You can even break him out when he's supposed to be "hidden". I've experienced this from both sides.

The general consensus is that he is weak and his power is mostly in the hands of the survivors.

"People cry about a "massive nerf" but I don't think it'll destroy him as much as people think. The good killers at this game will still get 4k quite easily."

Those tiny changes make a huge difference overall. He is already very easy to break out of stealth, therefore making it even easier will make him even weaker. 4% doesn't sound like a big change, but they also thought making Plague a tiny bit slower while holding her puke wouldn't be a big deal either. Now she's lower mid-tier at best and barely anyone plays her.

And can we stop with this delusion that 4k-ing with Killer is easy? Even with a strong Killer (which GF is not), getting a 4k at mid-to-high ranks usually requires more than a modicum of sweat on the Killer's behalf, assuming they aren't camping/tunneling/slugging for the win.

I swear, I'm going to make a compilation video of all the high-tier players, streamers, and fog whisperers demonstrating just how weak Ghost Face is, because all the evidence is there, plain as day. Maybe if it was all aggregated, there would be less dispute, but I doubt it.

  • Tru3ta1ent, Bahroo, Otzdarva, Oroboro, and several other DbD streamers, some of whom are fog whisperers, all agree that Ghost Face is garbage and nobody will ever play him at high ranks. A week later, you already don't see him much at all. This Killer died quicker than Plague. Such a shame.

The devs don't want to listen even when they ask the community directly for feedback. Again I ask, what was the point of holding that poll if they're just going to do whatever they want, anyway? I wouldn't be half as disappointed if they didn't demonstrate that they care about community feedback.

From what I've seen, the only people saying Ghost Face is too strong are rank 20's and trolls. He is embarrassingly weak. Please stop making Killers whose powers are reliant on the survivors being bad at the game. It doesn't work at high ranks.

  • @Ksoni said:

If you couldn't escape by repearing 5 generators and opening gates or finding the hatch, it's obvious that the 3rd chance to escape will be hard.

The problem is that looking for the hatch is no longer a smart play since Endgame Collapse was introduced. In situations where the killer finds the hatch immediately and the exit gates are within sight of each other, there is basically nothing the survivor can do.

I had a match like that on Haddonfield. Last person standing against a Huntress, she shuts the hatch within seconds of my last teammate being sacrificed because it was right near the hook. The doors are both on one side of the map along a straight line with no obstructions. How exactly am I supposed to even have a chance against that when the Killer has ranged attacks?

Sure, you can run away and hide, but you only have two minutes to open one of those doors before you lose automatically. It's not possible unless the Killer willfully stops patrolling the gates.

  • Trapper needs improvements of all kinds. He is a killer for low ranks and that's it. You have to play extremely well to win with him at higher ranks, or even mid ranks. He is yet another Killer that relies on the survivor making a mistake instead of him being a genuine power role.

Bugs and exploits aside, he is a first generation killer and it really shows.

  • "Fix the crouch camera to be more accurate of how high his head is, stop grass from blinding you, stop grass from obstructing stalking/revealing."

    This!

His camera seems way too low. Crouching is more of a hindrance than anything. It makes it significantly harder to spot survivors, let alone see where you're going at all. Seriously, how is this useful when all I see 90% of the time is a bunch of grass and debris in my face? I feel like it's far lower to the ground than Pig's camera, whom Ive never had a problem with spotting survivors.

"Fix buggy reveals from behind solid walls"

    This too.

I'm constantly being broken out/breaking him out long after he's broken line-of-sight and no part of him is actually visible. I can't count the number of times Night Shroud has been deactivated after he's fully hidden himself. The sound indicator will keep going even if you've fully ducked behind cover.

Also, I already mentioned this in another thread: He is nearly unplayable on maps with two-story buildings. The chapel, the asylum, pale rose, Haddonfield, mother's dwelling all have completely safe spots that serve as lookouts where survivors can spot you from almost anywhere and deactivate your power.

Line-of-sight does not work as they can see over pretty much every obstruction. Even if you do manage to hide, there is no way to approach stealthily if the survivors are near the building.

Organized teams have already figured this out and will usually have a designated "spotter" when they see they're going against GF. It's especially bad on maps where the building is in the center and all but the very edges of the map are visible. If the "spotter" has Balanced Landing, good luck ever catching them. You'll chase them away from their perch and a minute later they're back up there breaking you out of your shroud yet again.

  • "A killer who completely ignores survivor's only real defense and is near-guaranteed a 4k every game with even a basic level of familiarity of her ability on almost any map is broken."

I would argue that you need far more than a basic level of familiarity to 4k as Nurse at high ranks. Yes, she is strong, but she can also get bullied quite easily.

Her base kit is fine, and she can be countered with Dead Hard or line-of-sight mindgames. The real problem with Nurse is her add-ons. Specifically Omega Blink, which is super broken and accounts for 99% of the complaints about her being OP.

  • @prayer_survivor said:

@cwtfern. you don't want to remove moris because you're a killer. I don't want to remove insta heals and MoM

I actually play both sides pretty equally. Don't make assumptions. You're right though, I don't want them to remove moris because insta-heals, skeleton keys and Adrenaline exist.

Going up against a killer with a mori isn't that big of a deal, unless it's an ebony (which I agree is very strong) or your teammates are all potatoes. You also know when the killer is bringing one when the offerings are burned, so chances are the survivors are going to put on their try-hard boots to compensate. When a killer brings a mori at high ranks, they're going to really have to work for it.

  • I thought it was because everyone was playing Killer due to Ghost Face's release, but now it's been a few days and Killer queues are still abysmally long. Everyone is aware of it. Pretty sure it's a bug.

This. Plus either his add-ons are badly thought out or they're bugged; I ran one while exposed for TWO minutes yesterday and when I got hit was still exposed. Sad part is that I only got stalked because the player abused the reveal cancel that came with the buffer. Once all people playing GF realise it's there, which most already should, it will be causing huge issues especailly since on top of that the way you have to center him on your screen is awkward and he can stalk you in places you cant reveal him a hell of a lot. Needless to say I'm glad they're increasing the detection zone size...

That is definitely bugged. There's no combination of add-ons right now that grant him more than about 60 seconds of exposure on a Survivor, in my experience. The rare times a GF has actually exposed me, I've almost always been able to loop him for the entirety of the exposed timer.

I've had the opposite experience, and find GF extremely easy to break out of Night Shroud, even when he tries to break line-of-sight. It takes him more than twice as long to get you exposed as it does to reveal him, and don't forget that revealing him also deactivates his power for at least 30 seconds. I'd say that's a fair trade off. Just because he can mark a survivor does not mean it's a guaranteed insta-down. If you see him coming, either break him out of Shroud or simply run away and you're at pretty much zero risk of being marked.

  • Moris are definitely strong, but I don't think they should be removed.

What they should remove is Mori-cancelling. Why tf is Mori-cancelling still in this game? It has no other use other than toxicity. There's no mind game, there's no strategy tied to it, it is nothing more than a way for a Killer to grief a dying survivor.

Are Killers really initiating a Mori and then changing their mind within 0.5 seconds? No. If you hit the Mori button, it should be a commitment.

  • "Literally 90% killers switched to him, you dont even see the old killers anymore unless you play 24/7"

🤣 Yeah that's what happens every time a new Killer comes out, idiot. Everyone is trying him out. You're either trolling or actually completely stupid. Either way, you need to gtfo.

Now that it's been a few days and the verdict is that he is weak, you actually barely see him now, especially at red ranks. All the Killer mains took "I'm all Ears" and "Thrilling Tremors" and then quietly dropped Ghost Face is in the garbage.

"i bought recently Michael Mayers and i feel scammed cuz he can stalk and oneshot in less than 5 seconds while i need the whole match to do the same with Michael Mayers, totally game breaking"

Myers is stronger than Ghost Face. If it takes you the whole match to reach T3 with Myers, you're either going against top tier survivors or you have no idea what you're doing. Most likely the latter.

In all honesty, devs shouldn't even consider the opinions of Rank 20 crybabies like you. Brown rank players may be the majority, but they also have no idea what they're doing.

  • Ghost Face is painfully weak at high ranks. Even when I stack add-ons that supposedly make me harder to detect, I am broken out of Night Shroud pretty much immediately from half the map away. I also keep getting broken out of it even after I've broken line-of-sight, which is very annoying. They're seriously going to make it even easier to break him out?? I guess the first version of the PTB really was what they wanted...

He's also highly exploitable. If you get Father Campbell's Chapel, the Asylum, Red Forest, or pretty much any map with a two-story building in the middle, you automatically lose. Survivors can stand at a top floor window/balcony and spot you pretty much anywhere on the map, completely denying you a chance to be stealthy. This happened to me multiple times, and it seems like a massive oversight on the devs' behalf. You can't really have a killer that relies on stealth when there are numerous, completely safe lookout points.

  • I just don't understand why the devs would hold a poll, see that the majority liked Ghost Face as is, and then decide to nerf him anyway. What the hell is happening internally that they blatantly ignore the results of their own research?

They don't seem to realize how much of a difference these seemingly minute "balance" changes make at high ranks. He's already very easy to break out of stalk. Seems like he can be broken out even when you break line-of-sight long before the little "crescendo" sound finishes. Survivors have already learned how to completely deny him of his power, turning him into yet another M1 killer that requires chase meta perks. The add-ons also barely seem to do anything as they are right now, and yet they're also getting a nerf.

He is, unfortunately, utterly useless at red ranks. The second they know they're up against Ghost Face, they become far too switched-on to ever be caught off-guard, and will break you out of Night Shroud before you even close those 8 meters.

Again, this is only my experience at red ranks. He seems decent-ish in every other tier.

The optimist in me thinks the devs have another strong killer on the drawing board, and that this slew of mid-tier killers is only in anticipation of another Nurse or Spirit. Fingers crossed, I guess.

  • @slipttees said:

He needs a little nerf, very OP.

    5 match 5 merciless killer.

    Are you rank 1?

  • SWF can be rough, but I don't think it should be removed or punished.

The unfair advantage of SWF comes from survivors exchanging information that should not be exchanged by design. It's the equivalent of being in a poker game and having your buddy stand behind your opponent and call out his hand.

Therefore, I think it would be fair if the Killer was notified at the start of the match if two or more survivors are engaging in SWF. That way the Killer could adjust their own loadout accordingly, and have a better expectation of what they're about to go up against. Maybe even put in a BP bonus for successfully sacrificing SWF players.

This would organically make SWF more challenging as Killers are naturally going to play sweatier and meaner, and I feel like that could be a decent trade-off.

The only issue with this is not every SWF team are MLG, and they will be soundly dominated by the ebony mori/NOED killers expecting to be bullied.
