I'd be happy if anyone on our team escaped. Even a single person.
The problem is: If I get tunneled out first, I'm not sticking around for 10 minutes to see IF that happened. That's why it would be nice to have a "history" of the last few match results so you can see (after the fact) if those guys actually managed to get out or not. Without that morale boost, survivor can get depressing. And, no, the stats page isn't nearly reliable or specific enough for this purpose.
SWFs don't have this problem because they're not going to start a new match without their friends anyway. Just another solo q issue to add to the pile.
-
They're working on MMR improvements, so having killer-specific MMR (and consequently being unable to change killer in the lobby) isn't going anywhere for at least a little while…
-
They put him in Fortnite, so I'd be willing to bet money he'll be in DBD within a year or so.
-
The exit gate area should have, like, a mini "conveyor belt" effect. If you run towards the exit, nothing happens, but the minute you stop (e.g. in order to teabag) it pushes you back into the arena.

The biggest problem with the game is that being a good survivor requires a lot of practice and a high level of knowledge of the game. But we don't have decent tutorials or adequate practice modes to reach that level.
The developers have been mitigating this situation for years thanks to the genrush, which allows players with limited skills to escape from games where they don't last 10 seconds in chase. Those survivors would probably never escape if the game were truly balanced. It's not that we need new objectives, the objective needs to be completely reworked into something that isn't a race against time, the pace of the matches must be slowed down and move toward something more interactive between both sides.
Being a "good survivor" after hundreds of hours of practice means you can beat the player who literally bought Ghoul 5 minutes ago. That's what it takes.

Making it free wouldn't be a good idea. Without the exploiting you couldnt test the new changes and have your opinion about them.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4025954#Comment_4025954
Its absolutely plausible. It just requires time to migrate from the branch into a separate game. Its not hard, just time consuming
Making it free wouldn't be a good idea.
I guess we'll all have to take your word on that
-
Make it a separate "game" and also make it free. I don't have DBD on Steam, and I would love to participate in the PTB, but I'm not buying a whole separate copy of the game.
Also, I think companies should have to pay for their own QA testing rather than exploiting their customer-base for it
-
Really wish I hadn't given the Stat Tracker such high praise on the survey, now… :(
-
Killers uninstall because even THEY don't want to play survivor

It depends on what mmr you are playing.
- At the lowest levels (aka new players) the game is very killer sided
- At lower half mmrs, the game is slightly killer sided
- At the middle level, the game is pretty balanced (rng can factor in heavily swinging matches one way or the other though)
- At the upper half mmrs, the game is slightly survivor sided
- At the highest levels (aka comp level) the game is very survivor sided.
It's a shame that 1000-win Blight streak guy didn't make it up to "high MMR" I guess is what you're arguing, huh?

BHVR just recently added a new condition to abandoning which is getting slugged twice and picked up. Certainly a situation where losing a human player could affect the outcome.
Personally I feel like the abandon system didn't really solve the problem of survivors "going next" and I feel like the system has a whole has largely failed.
All good points. I've only ever used it to dodge the final mori animation, but I guess I won't be doing that any more.
-
I get why people are skittish about giving any buffs to killer at the moment, but… it is a bit overtuned.
-
If their goal was to make a series of EVEN WORSE decisions, to distract from the last PTB fiasco… mission accomplished?
-
"You can only abandon under very specific circumstances where it won't affect the outcome."
Ok, so are you going to count that outcome then?
"No."
-
Exactly, we wouldn't want to go over the Licensed Killer Limit that definitely exists.
-
You can run Blast Mine and it doesn't require an item OR special timing.
To "fix" the challenge, it should reward attempts as if they were blinds. Problem solved.
-
"You can just force them out of the gate."
True, but the killer doesn't want to do that, and shouldn't HAVE to.
"You might still have a chance for a kill."
True, but the killer doesn't want to do that, AND SHOULDN'T HAVE TO.
It's not like killers aren't aware of these facts. You're not giving anyone new information. Think about that. We all know that "We have Abandon at home." but we're looking for ways to improve upon that, and I think a lot of you fundamentally misunderstand what is being asked for.
-
Downvoted because, if you want coordinated SWFs to be less powerful, just nerf them. Don't boost killer and leave solo queue EVEN FURTHER in the dust…
Also, can survivors get anything before we start talking about killer buffs to compensate??? They already nerfed OTR and gave killers extra HUD elements after yanking the last PTB. It seems like a bad time to ask for even more buffs.
-
Back when the PTB was canceled, I was sure that killer queues were only going to get longer, even more so than they were at the time. (I was completely wrong on that, thankfully.) I've been seeing more actual BP bonuses for killer! I've finally played some killer this week!
Oddly, even when there's a survivor bonus, I've been noticing it takes a bit longer to find a match than it used to. I'm not complaining, because it's only a minute, but it is weird considering there is a bonus. -
there does need to be
somethingthat people will call a punishmentThis is the problem. Everyone says, "We need an alternative to tunneling."
So, the ask is that we give killers a NEW tool (or buff an existing one to be) more powerful than tunneling currently is. This mechanic has to be less punishing (i.e. more fun) for survivors, while leaving tunneling in the game as a backup. (Because if this new thing is too hard to perform, killers will just resort back to tunneling which is free.)
With such restrictive parameters, I have yet to see a SINGLE SUGGESTION that will be even remotely feasible.

doesnt bother me much because i just counter it so its not an issue
Hiding for hatch isn't a "counter" FYI ;)
-
I would love a way to "donate" items or offerings to our fellow survivors, in the lobby. I have literally hundreds of Pies/BPS/whatever, so even if you're too cheap to use one of your own, let me use MINE so we can all get the extra BP.
-
Even if you need to trade right before 2nd stage you can progress the game a LOT.
But who should go for the last-second save?
If you said, "Everyone goes, because there's no way for solo queue to communicate." then you finally understand the actual problem.
-
I don't normally buy skins, but if they had a Papa skin from "Ghost" I would pay so much. He could spew pea soup, so it would be thematic…
-
Basekit Kindred would help with this. Going for that rescue can easily snowball into a 4k, so it's objectively the correct play (in many cases) to just leave.
If you have 3 healthy survivors mounting a coordinated rescue, and the exit isn't too far away, it can be possible, but it's not like they forgot to turn the light off when they left a room… it requires effort, timing, and luck.

Trapper currently gets completely neutralized by someone just following you around and disarming all your traps.
This is the problem with Trapper. Having 1/4 of the team not working on gens isn't terrible, but even when I win, it never feels like I actually CATCH anyone in a trap. The threat of being trapped is very useful, but once you get past a certain MMR, everyone looks down when they run, so it feels like you just don't have a power…
-
Nerfing Lightborn would hurt killers while boosting SWFs more than solo queue. It's kinda the worst possible direction for the balance to go.

@ratcoffee said:
Can not understand this community's obsession with the idea that if a perk can be used to punish tunnel attempts, it necessarily can't have any other use case. Like what, are we gonna nerf Thrilling Tremors because it's slowdown, but also if you don't get slowdown value it still gives info? Of course not, that would be silly. Why do we rightfully see the fairness in allowing killer perks to have utility in multiple situations but we cannot allow survivor perks to have that same type of utility?
This.
Killers have perks like "If you hook someone, you ALSO get gen regression." Or "If you kick a generator, you ALSO get aura reading." They don't have to go out of their way to get the value; it's based on stuff they were going to do anyway.
Granted, you have to find a white hook for Pain Res, but Survivors have to find 2 chests, take the time to open them both, then become injured and stay broken for 60s (without going down) just to get a heal. Sure, they get ONE item out of the deal (can't carry 2) but it might not even be any good.
Killers get the equivalent of THREE KICKS, automatically applied to the gen that needs it most, without even having to travel to it. It also boots any survivor off the gen, makes them scream, AND it combos with things like DMS.
-
I also don't think the hook HUD is that big of a problem. (When I run a perk that requires that knowledge, such as Pain Res, it's trivially easy to remember who I need to hook on the white ones and who I don't…) But removing the anti-slug/tunnel stuff while NOT removing the corresponding killer changes is kind of a big "F you" to survivors.

@MashedBroccoli said:
otz, hens, ohtofu etc are ruining this game. I like them and all but they shouldn’t be listened to anymore when it comes to balance. Ohtofu whines about anti tunnel anti slug then out right says he refused to play solo survivor because of krasue. Not all of us play the game for a living. Some of us have limited game time and waiting 5-7 minutes for a match just to get tunneled at 5 gens is miserable.
Those guys also get the DLC for free, so it's no skin off THEIR backs if (for example) a new perk comes out and becomes meta so you can't win without it. They are immune to the "pay to win" aspects.
I already have $10 on my account, so I don't know if skipping this Rift Pass will send as strong a message as I would like, but… I'm not buying this Rift Pass.
-
I think there should be basekit Unbreakable if there are only 2 survivors left. Slugging for the 4k is so boring. It's not like the 4th survivor can do the remaining gens by themselves without getting caught, and they can't hide. Short of throwing themselves at the killer just to get it over with, what are they supposed to do???
It would add some risk/reward (You can slug, but you're on the clock…) to the strategy. As it stands, the game is basically over except the killer is allowed to drag it out.
(I would disable this during the EGC, though.)
-
He's already here, he's just cloaked.
-
No killer DCs though. That's interesting. Like the problem is only on one side for weird and unknown reasons
-
You can already change the title of your Presets. It's weird, but if you hover over the "Preset 1" or whatever and then press "Enter" it will let you type a new name.
Not sure what the buttons are for console, though.
-
Sweating your butt off for [a tie] at most … gets unfun pretty quickly.
But only when you're playing killer, apparently. This doesn't apply to survivor for some reason, right?
-
I'm already past lvl 100, and I only played long enough (1 or 2 games) to get the dailies on certain days. I also took a 2+ week break, thinking, "I don't care if I complete the pass this time." but I still got there without really trying.
I'm all in favor of making the pass more rewarding, but I don't know what to suggest if you're struggling. I think if enough people stop buying it, they'll make it easier? idk
-
I would love more killer-dependent things. Nerf the actual problem killers while leaving the weaker ones alone.
-
They canceled that PTB entirely.
-
I don't mind killers taking advantage of strategies that survivors don't like. Like people said, they're not breaking any rules.
My beef is when killers value their winrate over the balance of the game as a whole. (see latest PTB)

or learn to counter it? apparently its toxic to play the game in a way that you dont approve of. maybe i dont approve of people using pallets? that make them toxic because i find being stunned or going in a circle boring?
the killers that use tactics are playing the game, they are not doing anything against the rules, they are not griefing. Not everything is toxic and griefing just because you dont approve of it and you dont find it fun.
Survivors only have 4 perk slots, and there are way more than just 4 pain points in solo queue, even IF each issue would entirely 100% be solved by a single perk… which they aren't.
-
As bad as the game is on PC right now, I can't even imagine trying to play it on a console, even a "beefy" one like the PS5.
-
Why is there a confirmation on the "Abandon" when you're the last survivor and getting mori'd???
I just want to go next, let me mash ESC and be done with it
-
Just give us a ping system to share info. Even if you can't find a gen, you could flag chests, totems, and pallets to help out the team. That would give survivors more to do AND bridge the gap between SWFs and solo. And it wouldn't even be a "buff" to survivors, stat-wise.

so do gen gen gen gen gen gen gen gen gen gen… if killer is camping they are not stopping anyone doing gens
Except for the person on the hook.
Oh, also everyone else if they have DMS.
Oh, also if they have Grim Embrace.
Oh, also if they have Pain Res…

I wish they would put out another Dev Update. The last one was nearly a month ago, and THAT one doesn't count since none of it <cough> applies any more…

Are you constantly changing killers? If so, pick a killer and play a good number of games with that killer until your MMR naturally drops to where it should be. If you keep changing then your MMR will only go down a little bit for each killer you play so you won't see much difference.
I was under the impression that each killer has its own separate MMR?

You should ask for some advice and instructional gameplay video from all the folks around here who keep telling us how they can 4K in 95% of their killer matches with any killer on the roster.
Or maybe OP could show us these God Survivors that get 3 and 4 out every single match.
