Nah I don't camp because it's boring. Maybe only with bubba because it's fun lol. But if you are not waiting for me to be far from the hook or, at least, chasing someone else, and you are saving after few seconds I'll definitely tunnel that guy. Even if you have bt doesn't mean you can disrespect me and save immediately after I left the hook. I'll definitely come back to put him back on hook. It annoys me when they save so quickly. If the killer is nearby he have no reason to not come back. A Feng did that and she practically killed her teammate doing so. I used not to come back if I was nearby because, you know, I thought it's toxic if I will do that, but no. It's their fault if they have no idea when to save. BT is for camping, not to save immediately I make 2 steps from the hooks.

Lmao, disrespect? What? How can you be personally offended by someone unhooking a person while you're still nearby? And why would you not punish the person who "offended" you by unhooking, rather than tunneling the person on the hook who had no say in it?

It all sounds like a terrible excuse to just tunnel and camp/proxy camp. This is just your twisted justification, rather than admitting that you can't get wins without it, you blame others for your ineptitude, lol. Sucks to suck I guess.

And on-topic; I do mostly agree with what OP said, the numbers might need adjustments, but camping (and tunneling for that matter) really shouldn't be the most efficient way for a killer to win. I understand that it's sort of required at the top-end of gameplay, especially if you're against a 4 man swf. I don't however think that's a good justification for not implementing something like this, if anything a broader rebalancing allowing for killers and 4 man swf's at the top of gameplay to be more even without needing to tunnel and/or camp is a much better solution for that issue. Basically, I wish that the game was balanced as such that the most efficient way for a killer to play, is similar to when a killer is running Devour Hope. They hook, then run straight for the next kill. Maybe something like giving killers a movespeed increase for X amount of time after hooking a survivor, combined with a heavy slowdown on the hook timer if the killer stays nearby without being in a chase, thereby making it much better if they try to find a survivor and get into a new chase as quickly as possible, rather than camping which pretty much guarantees that the other 3 survivors will be able to gen rush all gens if the killer camps and waits for the person on the hook to die.

I don't think that the hook timer should move faster if the killer runs away from the hook, that's going to have a minimal impact vs swf's, but could have a huge negative effect on solo-q, which are already heavily disadvantaged, where many more will start dying on hook or get to 2nd stage the first time they're hooked, because their teammates are more focused on hiding from the killer, cleansing totems, opening chests or doing gens instead of actually unhooking people. The best solution is giving killers who doesn't camp a buff, while punishing killers who does camp, without those changes hitting solo-q players much harder than swf's.

  • The biggest issue with NOED, is that it feels very unfair. It gives you kills for free, when often times the killer wasn't even able to get more than 2-3 hooks the entire game prior to that. It's also mostly used by low/mid tier players, which means that all new players will face perks like NOED, or stuff like camping and tunneling a lot, and can easily be discouraged to the point where they just uninstall DBD and never look back, which of course is terrible for the game long term.

I think that killers using NOED, as well as camping hooks and tunneling, are all doing it for the same reason. It helps them get kills that they simply cannot get without it. Let me explain why.

So, I think most can agree, that at very high levels of play, like in top tournaments, killers pretty much have to camp and/or tunnel to stand a chance at winning, right? I feel like the community can agree, that at that point, survivors clearly have the advantage.

Now, think of what happens for the average killer, when they camp, tunnel and/or use NOED. At low/mid level MMR, Tunneling, Camping and NOED is very efficient, it helps the killer get a lot more kills on average than they would get if they avoided that stuff, everyone can agree with that, no? So, if they get a lot more kills because of that perk and those methods, their MMR goes up. What happens if they try play a game without those things suddenly? They most likely get 0 kills, because now they've ranked up and are facing survivors that are much more skilled than them. They are now in a situation similar to top level killers, playing in top tournaments. They basically have no chance of winning, if they don't tunnel, camp, use NOED, etc, because they are facing survivors that are out of their league. Some might argue that that's fine, and everyone can play whatever way they want to, and I don't disagree with that. I do however feel like those types of gameplay should not be the easiest and most efficient ways of winning games, especially not at lower level, where it will for sure drive away new players.

It's not good that new players trying out the game, gets tunneled and face camped every single game of the 5-10 games they play, then decide that the game is crap, uninstall and never look back. It's terrible for the game long term, and personally a few of my friends that I managed to convince to try the game out, had exactly that experience, decided that the game sucks, uninstalled and won't ever play the game again. (I do have a few friends that does play the game too, so not everyone gives up, I get that, but it's not a great first impression of the game).

It would be better for the games health long term, and it's ability to attract new players, if camping and tunneling was nerfed to the point where it's not an efficient way to get kills at low/mid tier anymore. And perks like NOED only adds to that same problem. You can argue all you want that you can run certain perks, cleanse totems, get better at the game etc, but that simply does not apply to newer players at all. They don't have all the perks, they don't know the totem spawns, they're new, and they're not going to want to put in the time and effort to overcome that hurdle. NOED, along with a few other perks on both sides should honestly be nerfed, aswell as camping and tunneling.

I don't see how anyone can argue that NOED giving an unskilled killer "free" kills that they weren't able to get before the endgame, is actually fair. I agree with several other people have suggested in this thread, that NOED should trigger the moment that the 5th gen is finished, so that everyone can see it and it doesn't come as a surprise when the killer gets their first hit on someone after it's activated. It would be more fair, it'd give survivors a little more time to react and search for the totem, while still being a fairly powerful perk in lower tiers.

At higher tiers, you honestly rarely see NOED, the survivors are more experienced and can often deduce that the killer likely has NOED long before it triggers and play accordingly, possibly even clearing all totems before NOED has a chance to activate, they're able to much more quickly find the totem as they have a better idea of where totems spawns, and it's honestly not that great of a perk at that level.

NOED is basically only efficient against newer and/or less skilled players, because they can't cleanse it fast enough, they can't deduce that the killer most likely is running it before it triggers, and they're not skilled enough to get unhooks against a camping killer with NOED, so they either try and fail, or just don't try at all and let the person die on hook. How is this good for the game?

My whole point is that NOED, along with camping and tunneling, is only really efficient against newer/less skilled players. Better survivors can deal with all of that much better, especially in a swf where they can communicate. This has two consequences. The first is that it drives away potentional new players, because no one enjoys spending the whole game on a hook or being tunneled and many won't play long enough to improve to the point where they know how to deal with it. The second thing is that newer/less skilled killers relies too heavily on it, to the point where they're not learning how to become a better killer, but doubles down and gets more and more reliant on camping, tunneling, and perks like NOED to stand a chance to get any kills at all as their MMR goes up and they're facing survivors that are out of their league.

They not only should do this because I could see the issue, but also they just need to do damn console cross progression to pc.

Will they do that? Probably not, probably just money hungry and forcing people to spend money all over again.

But PC users get all the glorification, and i'm on PC but there's an obvious blatant ignoration for them.

Also, maybe they should just stop updating the game so much to fix stuff and just hold it off for major updates... because there was one point where I was getting an update literally every single time I launched the game and i'm on Steam, but it's still annoying as hell.

They did update us recently on the console progress, saying there are some technical issues they're working on, but they haven't given up on it.

The other stuff are legitimate complaints, but they're better suited in a different thread than this one.

I am in the exact same boat. Dunno what I'm gonna do when it's off gamepass. God knows I don't want to actually own anything in the windows store.

Yeah, unfortunetly that ship has sailed for me, but I have no intention to ever buy anything on the Windows Store again, not unless it's the only option, or the Windows Store manages to fix their many issues.

  • This issue has been happening since I first started playing the game, over a year ago.

    I play on Game Pass.

This happens very frequently if one or both players have either played some games solo/in a different party before playing together, if one person survives ~a few minutes longer or more while the other survivor backs out to the ready-up screen, if a player spends a few minutes in the shop or the archives.

It can also occur when none of those examples apply, but you have played a few games together already.

The only solution that seems to work is for one or both players to restart their games fully. Just leaving the party and re-inviting almost always causes the same issue to occur again.

  • There's already a post about that here:

Hello I dont think this is just me noticing this although I had a few hundred hawkin offerings on my main survivor which is much more compared to my friend who dosent play survivor at all and he got 800k for basically no offerings but I got 100k. Dunno if this is intentional or a bug but thought I should report it.

But yeah, seems to have happened to a bunch of people. From my understanding, anyone who had 1 or more offerings, should've gotten more than 100k. That didn't happen though, instead some got millions of bp, whilst others got 100k... Yet another bug.

  • Same, I've seen others get millions, and while I had a similar amount of offerings as they did, I got 100k.

I feel like for some people it may have calculated the offerings correctly and given them their rewards, and for others 0 offerings were counted so they just got the basic 100k bp..

  • The filter truely is horrible, I've had instances where "a" was censored. Like "Hope you have a better match next game!" And it gets censored to "Hope you have # better match next game!". It's honestly makes no sense at all, and very often blocks words, or even single letters, with no logic to it at all. Especially when you can say the same word 5 times in a row (yeah, I've done this just to test it), and it'll block it 2 times and deem it to be fine 3 times. The chat filter needs to just be completely removed until they can implement a basic, functional one, just like every other game with a chat filter. And then ofc give us the option to toggle the filter off if we want to, as others have mentioned, this is an 18+ game.

If you can't handle curse words at that age, you really shouldn't be playing a game like dbd either way. And if people abuse it to say racist/sexist ######### in post-game chat, it's honestly better if we can see that, and then just report them so they can get banned for it.

  • Yeah, same has happened to me several times.

Even while the healing boon was deactivated in the game, so people could only run shadow step, it happened to me several times while I was in shadow steps area of effect while the person who blessed that totem died.

  • I've seen the long loading screens many times, as both killer and survivor, and they had no specific survivors, killers, offerings, items, addons or maps in common every time, this def happens irregardless of any of that. I do have crossplay on, as I play through Game Pass, so most games are with people on other platforms. If this is related to cross-play, and any fix includes turning cross-play of "temporarily", the queues would be stupid long, so please don't do that.. I've tried it before, when mmr wasn't a thing, and it took 30-60mins to find a game. With mmr now, I suspect it might take even longer, so actually unplayable.

Not that waiting for 10-15 mins in loading screens, only to be thrown straight to post-game chat, and having that happen 5 games is a row is exactly playable either (yes, that has happend for me)...

  • Also happened to me several times when the person who made the boon dies.

Sometimes the aura of the totem remains, and the visual effect when you go in range of it, but not the effect.

If I am inside the boons area while the person placing it dies, the visual effect of the boon stays the rest of the game, even when out of range for it.

i think it’s actually Scandinavian. Michaela is the German Variation.

Reid is also an English name I think, definitely not German as well.

It's not a scandinavian name at all, so I doubt that. She also doesn't look very scandinavian. I would guess america somewhere.

  • I'm on PC, I did not get it. I'm on Game Pass, if that makes a difference.

  • Yeah, I saw saving up hal offerings as well. I guess I just assumed that we could keep them, like other legacy items, after the map was disabled. I agree with the others that it'd would've been nice with a warning that this was going to happen (and that it was going to happen long before the map is actually disabled), and if they had been changed into something else, like party streamers or cakes to cover the bp we spent buying them up... Or at the very least let us know it was going to happen long before that, so we had a chance to stop hoarding them and to use them to play the map while we still could if we wanted to.

If you're on PC, can you grab your logs for me if you do happen to crash again?

    1. Press Windows Key + R to bring up "Run".

    2. Type this in the "Run" prompt: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\DeadByDaylight\Saved\Logs

    3. The file called "DeadByDaylight.log" is your log file. Please attach it in your reply.

I play through Game Pass, so the location of that folder is in a different place for me (C:\Users\*my username*\AppData\Local\Packages\BehaviourInteractive.DeadbyDaylightWindows_b1gz2xhdanwfm\LocalCache\Local\DeadByDaylight\Saved\Logs), however, the logs folder is completely empty. Searching through the other folders (including a folder called "Crashes", only shows multiple copies of a file called "CrashReportClient.ini", which only contains this text in all of them (they're identical):

    [CrashReportClient]

    bHideLogFilesOption=false

    bIsAllowedToCloseWithoutSending=true

    CrashConfigPurgeDays=2

Not sure if there's some other location the logfiles could be on the version of the game that I am playing, if so, do let me know!

  • Seems fixed now, I was able to claim it. Thanks!

  • The bug is still there.

I'm starting to think that at best, we might get a fix with 5.2.2, on the 28th.. That's nearly two weeks to fix what should be an easy thing to sort out, especially since the same bug has happened before so they should know how to fix it.

  • I'm surprised that it's been this long, and there's 0 info about it being fixed, or that the devs even knows about the issue.

If you don't have Elodie, and you don't play killer/don't want to play killer, you're stuck and unable to finish the tome until the 10 gens bug is fixed.

I would think this was higher priority? It's not like this is the only post about the issue either, I've seen a bunch of duplicate posts about it, and it's a bug that has already happened before so they should know how to fix it quickly.

  • Seems like it might be related to the bug where if you are spectating a game, after a gen has been done, everytime you switch what person you are spectating, you hear the gen being done sound.

  • @fogdonkey said:

You need to finish this in a single trial

Finish 10 gens in a single trial? While cooperating with other survivors?

And you expect this to be possible, with 7 gens on the map, 5 max of which can be repaired in one game, how exactly?

  • Can confirm, have done 20-30 gens, if not more, and not a single one has counted.

I've tried both being there just when it finishes, or doing a gen from the start with 1/2/3 other people all the way to the end, and none of them have counted at all.
