Whenever I see this question I feel compelled to point out that the egg came first! Since an egg is essentially cells dividing to form life within a protective membrane, and in earliest iteration of evolution this would happen naturally in the primordial soup!
Ok, back to DbD 😘
You got it wrong. The answer is the omelette. The omelette is the reason the chicken and egg exist.

BHVR: Look how less cluttered the main screen is now.
Players: Wow, now I have to go through sub-menus just to select my role. 😫
The clutter isn't a problem if it's functional. I don't care if the main menu has a bunch of buttons, as long as they're organized neatly and I can get to the thing I want fast, then great. Adding an extra click to the process isn't a huge deal, but it's an annoyance that wasn't there before, that doesn't need to be there.
-
It's absolutely going to be nerfed, and it does not deserve it. It's fine as it is, it's even fine with DMS. There's finally a perk that rewards killers for spreading hooks around (which should be a basekit system), and you know it's going to be taken out behind the shed because survivors don't like it.
God forbid killers ever have anything to slow the game down. They've already gutted all gen regression perks that are worth anything, so naturally, this won't be allowed to stand.

The 4% is definitely a nerf but this part isnt 100% bad and for M1 killers its a neutral to a very slight buff. This isn't as bad as people make it out to be and provides more counterplay for the survivors which is good because if a killer had an M2 previously the obsession couldnt force a removal of the stack protecting the tunnel. Could it have been done better? probably. Is it the end of the world people are acting like? Definitely not.
In what universe is this a buff. Explain how making the perk worse with no upsides buffs it.
-
That's not a thing already? Weird. It's a standard feature in most multiplayer games that let you host custom matches.
-
Come on. Don't try to spin this like it's some kind of buff. It's a nerf. A big, blatant and completely unnecessary nerf, and one that completely misses the mark by doubling down on the one of the big reasons people complained about STBFL in the first place; It encourages the killer to just ignore a player.

How many times did you plan to use Pop, Pain Res and whatever other gen kick perks you use?
You can use them 8 times on each gen. That is still a maximum of 8 x 7 = 56 (way more than you could ever need). Even if you were to focus on only 3 gens, that means you can activate your perks 24 times. How is that not enough? You are not playing around 1 gen but 7 in total and you can spread the effects of your perks between these and delay multiple gens. That's what usually happens anyway.
As many times as I wanted without having to keep an internal note in my head about how many times a given generator has been damaged.
You do understand that this is not only a nerf to killer perks, but it makes the game even more unintuitive and miserable to start than it already is. I would absolutely hate to start the game now because there's so much stuff that you have to keep track of as a killer that the game does not bother communicating to you until it's too late.
Guarding hooks? That's intuitive. It's also "camping" so now the survivor gets a free unhook, but fine, you attack them off the hook, but oh wait, it did nothing because they're invulnerable off the hook. Okay, so you learn to leave the hook after you get someone to go harass the other players and keep them from doing gens. Obviously, you kick them because that's how you stop them from progressing, but oh wait, after a while, you can't. Why? Who knows, it's not like the game's going to explain the system to you.
And naturally after the game you'll be called every negative epithet under the sun because you had the audacity to so much as look at a survivor 5 minutes after they were unhooked and that's tunneling.
Every handrail that gets given to survivors is just another in a long list of things that killers have to track and it sucks. It makes playing killer so much more stressful, both for new players and more experienced players.
Survivors don't have to worry about half the systems killers do, because the game isn't designed to restrain them at every single turn. It's absurd. How many more basekit protections do survivors need?
I swear, I don't want to hear a single word about 3-gening after this patch goes live and I don't want to see a single survivor complain about regression or slow down perks, but I know for a fact that I will because it's not enough. Nothing is ever enough. Survivors need more and more and more basekit buffs and protections from their own mistakes and misplays, which is what a 3-gen is by the way. It's a misplay on the survivors part that's now become a killer's problem.
-
Have you considered that this is a god awful compromise? Because it is. This is just twisting the knife that was already lodged firmly into the spine of all gen kick perks. Why would anyone run nowhere to hide, or surveillance, or oppression (not that anyone was using that joke of a perk as it was) or dragon's grip?
Surge, pop, and pain res, and maybe ruin (but not really, its numbers are still abysmal) are now the only regression perks worth using, until survivors start complaining about those too and they get nerfed. Oh but hey, trail of torment will last very slightly longer now, I guess. Yay.
What exactly are killers getting that's comparable to the death of both gen kick regression and gen kick info perks?

Literally the entire killer meta revolves around undoing survivors' objective progress.
In ways that have very simple and straight forward counterplay, yeah. Did they kick the gen? Tap it. Done. The gen is no longer regressing. Even if you let it regress for a while, they butchered all the gen kicking perks so it'll take no time at all for you to get your progress back to where it was. When you're doing a chase, there are, at a minimum, 3 survivors on gens, but lets be charitable and assume that the FtP/buckle up player is just tailing the killer for the entire chase. Let's also assume that the chase takes the absolute minimum of 45 seconds, since that's the expected time per chase the devs have tossed out here and there. Gens take 90 seconds to complete, so 2 people on gens is enough to either complete one gen or have 2 gens halfway done.
The killer downs someone and in the time it takes them to clean their weapon, the other survivor gets picked up. At a minimum, that's 10 extra seconds of chase time added, assuming the killer knows what's going on and waits it out, but in those 10 seconds, they'll reach a structure, meaning you're going to get even more time, so at a minimum that's 20 extra seconds of gen time for each survivor on the gen, but realistically it's going to be significantly longer. By default, gens regress at 1/4th the rate that survivors can do them in. By comparison, regressing a gen from halfway would need 180 seconds of uninterrupted regression.
Can you see how this comparison is nowhere near comparable?

It's a trade off. You get the benefits of larger FoV but in return you are easier to blind. Also, it's a slider. You don't have to use it (like the visual heartbeat, which some people find distracting, so they don't use it). Also if you genuinely believe they are redesigning the blind system with an entirely separate "blind" hitbox, you are... very optimistic to say the least.
It shouldn't be a trade off at all. Imagine if you played a game and chose to use subtitles, but if you did, all sounds in the game were heavily muffled and distorted. It's a choice, but not really. All it does is hurt the people who choose to use the option. It shouldn't be a thing.
-
If you don't think it's problematic, then hey, how about we give killers a perk that lets them delete a chase. Let's say, a perk that can be activated every 60 seconds that lets them phase through an obstacle. I mean hey, if it's fine for survivors to invalidate a killer's play with no repercussions and no counter play, then it should be fine for killers to be able to do the same right?

Ah yes, us vs them how original
If a million people point out that humans breathe air, they're not being original, but they're also not wrong.
-
This roadmap may as well be called "the survivor's wishlist". Survivors are getting everything they want. 3 gens are going to be gutted, STBFL and ultimate weapon are going to be gutted, mangled as a whole is going to be gutted, and DS is going to be buffed. That's the direction we're going in and it's going to be awful.
But hey, they're giving killers an FoV slider (it only took them 7 some odd years, but hey, better late than never right?) and they might shave a second off the twin's return animation and call that a rework, so hurray. They threw killers the tiniest scrap of bone and called it a day.

From your thread, it is obvious that you are not a veteran player ... because long end games used to be an issue!
EGC literally fixed that issue few years ago, once the exit gates were opened. Devs even allowed killers opening them to prevent any abuse/troll from survivors.
You just complain for nothing.
Things being better now doesn't mean that there is no problem.

I'm just going to copy and paste my post from your last thread since you never addressed it.
===
I'm going to ignore the issue of whether it's cheating or not and focus on the far more practical problem with this suggestion; how would you enforce it?
Filters like reshade or nvidia freestyle don't modify the game's files at all. I guess dbd could scan your computer to see if you have reshade running at all, but that would turn dbd into spyware. Now, you can argue "I don't care, the sanctity of the game matters more than any potential security concerns" and, I mean, fine, I guess, but that means that DBD would have to be taken out of certain markets. In japan for example, it's straight up illegal to have a program scan the user's files, that's why parsers in FFXIV for example, can never be blocked, so in order for this idea to work, you'd have to take DBD out of circulation in a couple of countries. Is the sanctity of the game worth that?
Okay, so let's say DBD now scans the user's computer every time it runs to make sure reshade isn't running, great. What if the user just changes the gamma on their monitor to make the game brighter? How would DBD account for that? Should the game be able to hijack their hardware settings?
Even if you ignore the, let's call them "moral" questions that come with using or not using a filter, that doesn't change the fact that enforcing "vanilla" gameplay just isn't practical.

That would be the case. Are survivors mass DCing / suciding when they come across Skull Merchant? I dont know really. If that is true, she suffers from the "Original Legion Syndrom". A killer that was so dispised that even tho the winrate was not super high, the devs simply had to completly change his power.
No matter if she is just really overpowered or so hated that survivors disconnect when they come across her, a change is absolutly neccessary, dont you think?
I don't know if it's happening a lot, but I can say I've certainly seen it happen in my games.

No, it's not fair at all and they're not changing it.
In what way is that suggestion not fair? It lets buckle up protect the person being tunneled, turning it into a true anti-tunneling perk. That's what people are are pretending buckle up is for isn't it?
-
Well, if people argue that it's an anti-tunneling perk, then buckle up would be fine if it only worked on the survivor that got picked up and only when it's used on them within, say, 30 seconds of being unhooked, right? That seems like a fair nerf to me.
-
If you made it to the end game, then you didn't get face camped, meaning that the anti-FACECAMP system did its job. Once the endgame hits, the killer needs to be able to secure a kill through some means because they have no other objective.
-
Yeah, that's what'll happen when you give survivors 100% control over the killer's power. EMPs are not fun to play against so people just won't play him. It's a shame too, he's one of the cooler new killers.

The point of my post is feedback on Survivor perks becoming unusable. Not to discuss perks I named as examples and debate those.
If your argument is that survivor perks get nerfed while killers get to "keep" their perks, which implies that killer perks have gone unnerfed, then nah, you absolutely need to explain the examples you gave, because what you gave were examples of 2 killer perks that have been heavily nerfed and one that no one ever complains about because it's considered a "healthy" perk, since it encourages the type of play that survivors pretend to want from killers.
Killers don't get to "keep" their perks. Killer perks get gutted all the time.
-
Pop was heavily nerfed but still gets used because it's one of the few methods of gen regression that killers have left. Thanataphobia was nerfed to the point of uselessness, and BBQ, man, who complains about BBQ? Explain what's wrong with it. Seriously, I'd love to know how a perk that encourages killers to spread hooks around is bad.
-
Why do survivors need to know absolutely every single thing a killer can do? Killers get very little info on what perks survivors bring, and they're bringing 16 of them.
Killer perks announcing themselves is the entire reason perks like devour, and hubris and dissolution are functionally useless.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the coin, how does a killer know if a survivor they're chasing has MFT? How do they know if they have lithe or balanced or if a survivor is getting ready to sprint away? How do they know if letting a survivor go is a bad idea if they have inner healing ready to undo any injuries they did? How do they know if they've got head on and are luring them into a trap? How do they know if a survivor has dead hard?
Killers don't get to know anything until it's too late. Let's imagine a scenario here. A survivor is on the ground. Before you pick them up, another survivor comes in and touches, and suddenly they get up. You hit the survivor who got up and they have endurance. Why did they have endurance? Was it buckle up? Was it soul guard? Was it made for this? How would you know what to watch out for?
But no, that's not a problem I guess, let's just keep feeding survivors all the info they could possibly ever want about the 4 perks the killer can bring in, while the killer is left guessing about their 16. Why not just cut to the chase and take this to its logical end point. Just show survivors the killer's perk loadout before the match. That would let survivors know exactly what to prepare for wouldn't it?
-

And then you decide to buy a game where 50% of its content is first person? Questionable decision, but you do you...
In their defense, most first person games have FoV sliders to help with that. The fact that DBD doesn't have one, and still isn't getting one anywhere in the foreseeable future is absurd.
-
Survivors do not need equal attention buffs. While we're at it, you suggested it before and it's worth mentioning again, slugging isn't toxic, nor is it an exploit, two downed survivors should not be able to pick each other up.
-
Probably not, and I certainly hope they stick to their guns in that regard.. While the bp bonus on BBQ was nice to have, it made it feel like you absolutely had to bring it, even if it didn't gel with your build or your character, otherwise you'd be missing out.
If anything, I'd rather they make bp bonuses a normal part of of playing the game. Get a hook as a killer? You can get a stacking +25% bp on each first hook, just like with old BBQ. Safely unhook or heal a survivor? +25% bp for the rest of the match for your first save/heal. Using bp to encourage people to play well seems like a no brainer.

Yeah but there are other perks to use, the problem with Gen kick perks is that you don't need to do anything for it, you don't need to hook or down someone you just need to kick a Gen... So it is kind of fair, that it is not too strong, but I agree It could be changed to be more useful.
Kicking a gen costs you time, which is the most valuable resource you have as a killer. Stopping to kick a gen also often means that you're giving up a chase, all to apply an effect that survivors can undo by just tapping the gen. If anything, gen kick effects need to be significantly stronger, considering the costs involved and how easy it is to undo.
-
It would be nice if there were some dangerous elements that survivors had to avoid in the environment, but that's never going to happen. Any traps or what have you that get added to the game like the nostromo gas vent will be only be for survivors to use against killer.
-
It was buffed, and then it was gutted again because survivors didn't like the buff. What you've got now is the most toothless version of the perk.
-
@JoaoVanBlizzard said:

I'm not asking for a buff for the survs, I'm just wanting them to remove the exploit that the killer wants to leave on the ground without hooking, usually the killer drops two and puts them on the hook, that's ok, but killer who wants to drop 3 or 4 survs without hooking It's because you're trying to be toxic, I explain things, but you don't seem to want to understand
It's not that people don't understand, it's that slugging isn't an exploit and snowballing isn't a problem, it's a play style. Taking away the killer's ability to snowball via slugging is absolutely a nerf, and not one that's needed.
@JoaoVanBlizzard said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3568146#Comment_3568146
Serious? why didn't you use lightborn against locker safe instead of asking the devs to nerf it?
See thing thing is, there's counterplay to slugging. You can position yourself under a pallet and recover, and there's always a chance that someone will go and save you while the killer is chasing someone else, after all, there's only 1 killer and 4 survivors. If one of those 3 remaining survivors doesn't go to save you while you're slugged, then that's a skill problem.
There was no skill or counterplay to the old locker saves. You couldn't grab survivors and you couldn't hurt them. Your only answer if you didn't have lightborn was to walk away. That's why that had to go. The devs have to at least pretend like they care about the killer's experience sometimes.

I will be interested to see how it goes as people get used to it. My first impression is that the haunts can help whoever's already winning, but, if you're already winning, you probably don't need them.
I am curious to know what happens if you slug someone in the void. I haven't seen anyone try it yet.
I don't think slugging should matter too much, since the void collapses eventually, and when it does it spits everyone back out into the map.
-
Absolutely not. Why would you want to be pigeonholed into a specific character to play a role? What value does that add to players?
-
I'm all for nerfing survivors, I think the game is pretty heavily stacked in their favor, but I don't think that's the right call. Survivors absolutely need to know where the hooked player is. That piece of information is vital to for them. That'd be like not showing gens to killers. It's a basic piece of info without which, the side is more or less #########.

I'm pretty sure that's intentional. They have it cover chat for a while to discourage you from looking at chat, since, you know, DBD's community is what it is.

I'm positive there have been shard sales in the past. Unless I dreamed it.
There have been. Last halloween I bought most of the game's survivors for half off using shards.
-
I don't care about FNaF being cringe, since, like someone else already pointed out, the skull merchant exists, and it's going to be really hard, if not outright impossible to beat her. That being said, I wouldn't want a FNaF chapter in the game, mostly because it's creator supports some really bad people.
It'd be a really weird look, is all I'm saying.
-
Nah. A 30 second cooldown is fine. Not every perk killers get should be situational. In fact, I'd argue that more of them need to b e up on ultimate weapon's level considering they only get 4 perks to the survivor's 16.
Granted, it is going to be nerfed, obviously, survivors are crying too hard about it for it to last, but it shouldn't be. Instead, killer perks should be buffed.

Hey now, that's not fair!
Some people like bright, clashing color palettes that makes one the center of attention in any environment, ESPECIALLY blue and purple.
Some people like asymmetrical features such as wearing a single glove or having one sleeve of their shirt rolled up.
And some people really, REALLY like backpacks, giant earrings, and impractical fashion wear straight off the runway.
I'm not one of those people, and I've never met one of those people, but there must be an enormous number of people out there who enjoy these things, considering how often we see them in this game.
Who are we to question someone else's tastes and ask that the average 9 to 5 working class humans be represented?
I like dumb over the top #########. I'm a fan of pretty much everything you've described. I also wouldn't mind some more scary or horror themed skins. I think the costumes they got Ikumi nakamura to design are easily some of the best costumes they've put out recently. That oni skin in particular is great. That said, if they're going to make over the top #########, there's a right and a wrong way to do it. The godawful dredge skin on the current rift is the exact wrong way to do over the top.
-
Finally, a good suggestion on this board. Yeah, I'd be all for that.
-
My dude, you can delete his power. If you're playing against a singularity that's passively trying to use his cameras, you've already won the game. This isn't a 3-gen problem, this is a you problem.
-
Some windows are annoying, but the only one that I can think of that's so egregiously bad that there needs to be some way to get rid of it permanently is the window at the coal tower, and even then, what makes that window is a problem is the bug that lets survivors fast vault into it after dropping, which turns that particular area into an infinite. Fix that bug and everything's fine.
-
How many zip codes away is the killer allowed to be near the hook?
-
There's a lot to complain about in dbd, but the plague's new skin isn't one of them. The weird cat flesh monster looks great.
-
I'm on the same boat. It ######### sucks.
-
Fun is subjective. Personally, I think Movement powers feel awful in DBD. The nurse's blink, the blight's rush, billy's dash, wesker's bound, the oni's charge, they all feel like trash which is why I don't play any of them (except wesker, but even then, I only rarely play him). If that became the norm, I wouldn't bother playing any new killers.
-
Not going to happen, but it'd certainly be nice to have.
-
Something like this would only be acceptable if a boon trapped with it breaks when its snuffed. Wall hacks aren't something that should be that readily accessible to survivors. There's a reason why OoO got nerfed.
