  • Personally, I love those subtle interactions from Survivors

Wish there were more options as such, to engage in unspoken convo between Killer and Survivors before, during and after chase… what you’re describing is, imo, playful and fun. Maybe just me, but I enjoy these instances in-match.

Obvz ppl take things to extremes and, in turn, spoil the goodness of it all for everyone.

So would you rather have both sides play relaxed or both sides play efficient?

My guy, we had that. Killers didn't like it. Now it's gone, and killers don't like that either.

Any talk of restricting camping/tunnelling/slugging is always going to get mired in a bunch of forum killers decrying the very idea or drowning it in drawbacks and conditions to make sure that the mechanism, even if it ever does see the light of day, does the bare minimum.

We had whole loadouts being dedicated to countering those strategies and those had to be nerfed. We had people wasting time on boons, they had to be nerfed. We had people healing, that had to be nerfed.

Also idk where you've been, but gens going too fast has been complained about since forever.

But it's never been complained about more than now. Now, when gens all take 10 seconds longer. Now, when killers work faster in a bunch of aspects.

    You know what it is?

As long as tunnelling/camping/slugging are in the game, survivors will always be 'too strong'. Gens will always go 'too fast'. Because as long as you have the ability to utterly break the game, you have leverage it to make demands. All these methods are used as beatsticks in balancing discussions.

'We'll tunnel less after a round of nerfs.'

'We'll tunnel less after the next round of nerfs.'

'No, no, one more round of nerfs and we'll totally tunnel less.'

'Gosh, you survivors are so stubborn, just take your nerfs and we'll totally tunnel less.'

Kill rate could be 95%, and as long as tunnelling has not been addressed yet, the second someone complains about tunnelling, there will be complaints about 'gen-tunnelling'.

    Love the posts!

Such a Blessing to have you and Pulsar and the handful of voices here on these forums who speak sensibly and truthfully, without any delusion.

Keeps other players (who know the facts you are speaking are legit) remembering that we’re not alone in our realistic ways of thinking, and maintaining our sanity; while preventing the attempted gaslighting via the ‘Killer-is-in-danger-of-going-extinct-Quick-bring-on-the-Survivor-nerfs-immediately!’ rhetoric that so many people on here spew.

Like a breath of wholesome, fresh oxygen amongst the stale, polluted, life-sucking atmosphere.

    Feels Awesome, thanks🫶🏽

  • First mistake: playing DBD

Second mistake: inviting others to play DBD

    🙃of course

  • lol this is fantastic!😄

The next phase of bot match sabotaging will be them randomly DCing at the most inopportune times.

  • Eh, I still use it w Blood Amber n Prayer Beads

Devs should’ve provided good add-ons w Green Keys that randomly spawn in chests from the beginning. That they still haven’t is just some kinda maliciousness😄

Completely disagree, out of all the IPs they could have picked, Alan Wake is probably the most fitting one they could have added to DBD in just about every aspect.

Wonderful! and I’m stoked for your enthusiasm of the character, and for all those who sympathize with your AW sentiments… certainly what the Devs were hoping for from the playerbase.

  • DH is mid, anymore

Incredibly weak, still predictable, and easily counterable mostly waste of a perk slot. I say mostly since there are times where it isn’t completely obvious that a Survivor has it, but it’s still easy enough to bait it out of them that not much damage is ever done by DH.

While more players are again using it (not many matches will feature 3 or all 4 with DH) it still isn’t enough to upset the balance, and it’s an absolute hallowed out skull of the mind gaming aggravation it once was.

  • Wasn’t about the Alan Wake Chapter, at all.

Many people seemed to be hyped over AW, but it just felt like wasting a Survivor roster spot, as there are so many far more appealing and worthwhile options that (imo, imo) would have garnered way more enthusiasm and hype from the playerbase than freaking Alan Wake lol.

  • Spirit

I play her kinda weird, for the sake of challenging myself. Usually play her mostly as a M1 (w/o BBQ) minimally using her phase power. When I do, it’s often to juke Survivors into thinking I’ve dropped chase for a bit (15-20secs) then phase back over to the direction they headed and surprise them while they’re healing or sth. Nurses helps, but I often opt not to bring it to heighten the experience. It’s fairly easy to 3K/4K w her. Not directly phasing in chase, or to gens, exit gates, etc., makes playing her more exciting.

On the flip side: Loathe playing vs normal “cookie cutter” Spirit players with their standard methods of immediate phase, hit, phase, down, hook, BBQ, phase repeat🙄

  • I got my PS5 back in 2021 after travel resumed and the factories once again could ship the semiconductor chips.

The performance quality improvement wasn’t as ‘night n day’ difference for me as it was for others, tho overtime I was noticing the specifics, especially on DBD.

Playstation is notorious for not drastically dropping console prices until near the time they release an upgraded “Pro” version or entirely next gen system. They do have deals a few times a year (saw the disc drive edition down to $450).

It’s highly doubtful anything will improve, performance-wise, for the previous gen consoles. Feels like most devs are on the same page and are all mostly disregarding them altogether.

With PS5 slim at the ready, and PS5 Pro tentatively releasing Winter 2024, it’s probably time to just eat that bullet and upgrade, fr.

  • “He cant get downs with his rubber knife”

lol His rubber knife… Sorry but that one had me sent😂

Only play Legion every once in a while, but I think he’s fine

  • Back in the days of old, Every (and I do mean every) all-Killer or mostly-Killer player was on these forums complaining about not being able to see “Blendette” and other Survivors whose clothes were “too dark” due to them having ‘superior camouflage’ with the map aesthetics; even to the extent that, eventually, not only were Claudette’s as well as other Survivor’s cosmetics adjusted (lightened-up), but the maps were also made more plain as your photos depict, with more plainly open, well landscaped or completely vegetation-less area; and the strategic “trap placing” tiles still with enough cover or deceptive color to conceal the Killer’s devices… also appealing to all the whiners and complainers.

Subtle nerfs along the way that aren’t usually mentioned when comparing and contrasting the various Survivor to Killer DBD nerf ratios since the games inception. Who had more, who had less, etc.

It’s all very plane to see.

    Just the facts

  • Imagine MMR was actually perfectly accurate, and everyone enjoyed their Nurse matches, both as and against her🥹

So sad always seeing my best girl getting spoken against😔

Just wish everyone had the same fun experiences I have facing her and playing her, and would accept her as the ultimate DBD Killing machine that she is, allowing her to thrive in her element🥰

  • Wonderful for embarrassing and catching cocky Survivors lingering at exit gates, who refuse to leave, completely off guard😄

  • “And maybe even one of the Devs finds this post enlightening”

    Enlightening post, indeed…

Maybe Devs will be so enlightened they’ll even consider adding these two helpfully wonderful perks to the list of those being nerfed directly into the ground🙃

Do agree, these are two very useful perks that are still worthwhile and haven’t been completely butchered, yet. Object was skinned alive, and still holds relevance.

  • Although I don’t really party😅 Nea’s my BFF I go everywhere with, 💞 n Nurse is the only Killer considered OP enough by the entire community, capable of blinking thru walls, windows, and ceilings (and who I’ve gotten a 4 slug w in under 4min) who I’m trusting to always keep us safe☺️

  • IMG_9342.jpeg IMG_9344.jpeg

Top pic is when the blade ‘slice’ sound effect begins.

Lower pic is the connection just at landing. Mikaela’s blood can be seen starting to come out of her.

If you look at how Tiff’s li’l head barely reaches the top of the vault, and how tiny her arms are, there realistically isn’t a chance she connects w Mikaela there.

but, hitboxes… all nonesense, tho what can ya do, fr🤷🏼‍♀️

  • Personally, I very much enjoy facing Twins. It’s a fun challenge testing the skills of Twins players, especially when trying to repeatedly juke Victor.

Slugging’s obvs not ppls fav playstyle (the camping and blocking strats w them can also be aggravating) but not all Twins players opt for it, and they’re such a worthwhile match, imo, even considering that actually seeing them is somewhat of a rarity.

  • 0K = 2

    1K = 6

    2K = 2

    3K = 9

    4K = 11

When you look at the outcome of 30 matches, the 3Ks and 4Ks between the 2 players are still dominant.

It’s almost like theater or drama class was a prerequisite to playing DBD for most of the playerbase

From my POV, the underlying issue is that BHVR concerns itself too much with what the community feels is good and/or bad.

Peanits has been quoted on the fact that different regions see different metas, because the game isn't played the same all around the world. That's not sustainable! A game must be something, and then people must decide if they like that thing.

To quote famous architect, Louis Kahn,

"You say to Brick, 'What do you want, Brick?' And Brick says to you, 'I like an Arch.' And if you say to Brick, 'look, arches are expensive, and I can use a concrete lintel. What do you think of that, Brick?' Brick says, 'I like an Arch.' And it's important, you see, that you honor the material that you use. [...] You can only do it if you honor the brick and glorify the brick instead of shortchanging it."

Dead by Daylight wants to be something.

Designers are suppose to figure out what that something is, but that is not how BHVR is operating. It's a shame.

    YESSS 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Everything you mentioned is precisely what’s been going on with BHVR, DBD and the playerbase; the issue that isn’t being brought up or acknowledged nearly enough, especially around here.

Thanks for keeping some light on the truth!

    Cute allegory too

However, I just cannot resist the craving I have for new realms, at least 2 per Chapter🥹

..and Badham certainly doesn’t count as a multi-map realm, as all 5 are repeating elements in Springwood.

Would LOVE a second Silent Hill realm to get lost in!

trust me when i say i'd see broken totems in release coh era. at some point i changed my ing name to "break dulls = afk" lmao it was awful. almost og dbd levels of broken perk and people still did that.

also it's not completely about boons but time management and efficiency. it's just selfish, "idc about your perks or gen efficiency, i'll just get my 1k points real quick", which is not the attitude i'd look for in a team game.

    Oh, I totally believe you.

I personally never really factored BPs into the Totem cleansing operation during matches. I’ve definitely had totemless matches where there was nothing left to bless, as well as several matches w Solo teammates throwing BM fits mid match against me and my boons.

After CoH got nerfed, Inner Strength went back into my main build, and I always cleanse 1 totem each match.

fwr, the SoloQ players I’ve gotten have most often preferred to cleanse to avoid Hexes (or probably just BP cravers), so most don’t mind me cleansing for a heal; but there’s those few that insist on following me around and spamming lockers next to me when I’m preferring a heal inside one, instead of me letting them waste precious Gen time to heal me.

Also, my chases are often early on in the match to try and get a few Gens out of the way to end the Killer’s chances of dominating early on. I prefer it this way since unfortunately, in SoloQ you never know who’s going to be able to loop longer than 15 seconds, or who will be Gen’ing or cleansing totems.

Though I set myself up for this by Maining SoloQ😄 I just prefer the heightened challenge.

You’re probably better on a SWF team where everybody’s on the same page. I can imagine how aggravating Solo would be if you had to play it all the time.

I see Boon: Shadow Step about 1 in 5 matches actually. I think it's shadow step. It's the aura hiding one.

I’ve only seen SS and any others a few times, and each time it was in SoloQ matches w players who’s builds had 2-3 boon perks each.

Could be that certain regions or time of day/evening has sth to do w it, and I’m just missing them, idk tho.

  • After the tragic death of our dearest and most useful friend, CoH(rip😭), any boon activity, at all, has become so phantom that Totems, now so completely naked without their every-single-match-comfort blankets of shiny blue soft-chiming beautifications, are practically begging to be cleansed out of their misery😔

    …Inner Strength, or not

  • @fluffyloki25 said:

So I would generally consider myself a survivor main but I do tend to bounce around based on the BP bonus. Today I was playing a game as Ash against an Onryo. I was doing a tome challenge where I needed to sabo hooks so I had a build made for that sort of (saboteur, scavenger, empathic connection, and mettle of man). The killer got a fairly early down on a Laurie in the game and I sabotaged a hook, took a hit and they didn't make it to another hook. The game continued and the Onryo seemed to generally be trying to tunnel the Laurie (no one else had been hooked). So I kept coming in to try and take hits for her/take chase so that she could have a chance. At this point I had only taken two protection hits (according to my mettle) and we still had two gens left. The Onryo DCd and then was totally coming at me in the after game chat. Saying that all Ash players totally do this and its super toxic. I mean they literally told me to "go k yourself" and I didn't really think I was doing anything that bad. They could have downed me and kept going, demanifested and gone through me, etc. but refused to do so. What are your guy's thoughts?

Hey, sincerely, thank you for staying alive!

Your life is worth more than you may realize, even on the best day ever!

…that goes for everyone in this community🫶🏽

If it’s not a positively constructed comment in end game chat, then it really isn’t worth any attention.✌🏽

  • A well played Nurse will be efficiently accurate at guesstimating most every maneuver and route both to and of a Survivor… this is intricately built in to her Very Hard skillset difficulty leveling.

Most mediocre Nurse players would incorporate BBq into their build, since the perks release, and absolutely, solely for the Aura benefits.

Expert Nurse players won’t even bother needing any Aura crutches, and often won’t even use a full build (one or 2 perks) and you’ll understand the hard flex upon the entire team when you’re effortlessly 4K’d by one of these supreme players. Feels like playing against an extra terrestrial life form😄

Anyone using a full Aura build (on any Killer) doesn’t appear very confident in their gameplay; but especially on Nurse, is seemingly, ultimately not very skilled.

There are those instances where ppl experiment w different builds, although this doesn’t seem the case with the person who was calling you names.

  • IMG_9323.jpeg

    Yeppers🥳

Keeping this li’l nostalgic memento forevvs☺️

  • Well, i never needed a 3 Gen solution to begin with; Nor have I (and others) needed some of the many solutions that have been forced on us all, to pacify the Dead by Daylight masses.

The Devs are at the helm of their vessel, though there are many passengers plotting its course.

I, happily, reluctant to have hopped off at the last port, am just relaxing on this serene beach, thrillingly, watching all the good citizens of the DBD attempting to navigate the many hurricanes amidst their journey.

May have to take a chopper back out once that thing regains it’s good bearings.

I agree completely. Back then, the game was fun.

Yeah, I’m super intrigued if the game could or would ever be able to get close to that early vibe it had. It’s like trying to get the same euphoric feeling from bungee jumping to base jumping to skydiving n so on… super exciting thinking about it, tho most likely jus wishful thinking.

I mean, I wouldn’t say they have no clue what they’re talking about. Some people just have a much easier and, arguably, even stress-free time 3-4K’ing seemingly effortlessly… but it’s most likely those in the small group of the DBD anomalies who actually, honestly, find Killer easy and who are vocal about it.

dead hard for distance was significantly more powerful than sprint burst.

I can't imagine how someone with this many hours who says they win "99% of the time" can possibly think the game is killer sided. Have you watched a tournament lately?

isn’t DH for distance one of the reasons Coup De Grâce was created, or was it never a viable counter?

Totally not being a arse… I never used Coup, or DH more than a couple handfulls of times, and never tried, so I actually don’t really know. I just thought that was supposed to be the answer, but it never really caught on, or worked against old DH or whatevz?🤷🏼‍♀️🫣

  • I vibe with you… not all of it, for sure, though I completely understand it all, and definitely had the best, most fun experience playing DBD back in 2018, 2019 and 2020.

I’ve seen many similar posts over the years (not nearly as generous in length😄🙃) and I’m sure you know that the majority of those who would respond to you here on these official Forums will not agree with you or post anything pleasant for you to read, overall, for what you’ve written.

I will say tho, that the GenDisc population isn’t nearly the majority vibe of all Dead by Daylight players, although the group here is a good sample size, and so much moreso a great community of resourceful minds and pleasant personalities to engage with.

So fwiw, I’m happy you at least got some enjoyment out of DBD, however short lived the peak of the exhilaration May have been.

What was the reason to provide even more Slowdown with buffing the Kicks from 2,5% to 5%?

Letting Survivors repair 2,5% of progress would have already been a fix to gentapping.

The only reason was that this Gen scenario was the perfect opportunity to cater to the Killers who’ve been moaning about Gen kicking/ tapping, and sneak a little buff in there to ease the tension Devs have been facing from them.

Just yet another means of holding player’s hands who need or simply prefer the easiest path up that little 4K hill they continually claim is Mr Everest.

It was never a real issue for anyone who understands the internal specifics of match management and tactical counterbalance.

Though, it was obvious you weren’t going to receive a response from them, smh.

Just more unnecessary and excessive nerf/buff nonsense because they can, hindering moreso than aiding.

DBD is still the only game where it's affected my personal life through harassment and/or threats.

DBD is still the only game where I would get several messages weekly telling me how and why I should off myself.

DBD is still the only game where I've been consistently targeted and DDoS'd for months when trying to play.

It is by far the most toxic community I've been a part of.

Dude, that’s some harsh abuse you and others have suffered/ are suffering, playing this game.

I certainly have experienced it, but (and thankfully) not to the unfortunately, consistently high levels too many (probably majority of) DBD players have, in enduring the onslaught of toxicity from other players.

It’s beyond upsetting just thinking people are being told to end their lives for playing a game. I know it’s happening everyday; and that we’re all not experiencing it personally, as frequently as others, brings the reality of how disturbing it really is, so much more into focus.

I’d like to believe that people, overall, are good natured, and that it’s the world that has twisted individuals, inside, to being tortured beyond the bearability of one’s psyche’s threshold, and really upsetting the balance between good and evil of their conscious… I really don’t know, tho, if it’s actually all just birthed into their DNA.

  • @oxygen said:

At least in my experience it isn't. I'm sure it comes down to personal definitions of toxicity and how desensitized one is but I really can't say it is again, in my personal experience.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3622581#Comment_3622581

Fortnite has very robust settings to let you control who has any opportunity to communicate with you in any way whatsoever. I'm not 100% on what the default settings are, but you can very easily make it so only friends or friends-of-friends can ever talk to you, join your party and stuff like that.

Of course you might run into in-game trolls. Griefing teammates, using "taunt-like" emotes after beating someone if you count that and so on. But trash talking and the stuff that the most people possible will agree is toxic? You can change a setting or two and make it basically impossible for anyone to do it to you as long as you don't accept every friend invite you get.

Wow, that’s pretty cool tho, and thx for the info

It’s probably better that they have it set up with such safeguarding measures to avoid the possibilities for toxicity, altogether, seeing as how mainstream and popular Fortnite is. Maybe even promotes a ‘On to the next match’ mentality, for most players, where everything is taken w a grain of salt; and like you mentioned, the ones that wish to express a ‘teabag’ of sorts with the emote taunts will do so; but there’s a vibe like it doesn’t come off as harsh toxicity with FN.

You phrased it well, “personalized definitions of toxicity and how desensitized one is” would most likely be the deciding factor of who gets offended and over what.

  • Y’kno, I’ve never played Fortnite, but it’s not a game anyone ever mentions when these discussions arise regarding toxicity. Wondering whether others aren’t playing or if it really just isn’t toxic, fwr.

  • Of all the years I’ve played DBD, the times anyone’s been toxic toward me have been few.

Gotta have a decent amount of self control.

I don’t tunnel; feel it isn’t necessary to secure hooks.

I don’t BM on ether side; just a childish behavior.

Sometimes I challenge myself to slug all 4 as fast as possible, but I’ll always pick em right back up n let me wiggle free or pick each other up n then meme a bit w em.

I’m not a mean Killer or a jerk Survivor; There’s just no need for me to play that way. I’ve experienced everything there is to experience in DBD, and I this is how I play.

Also, if initiating post game chat, it’s always a positively charged, detailed description of what I found awesome in someone’s gameplay.

More often than not, (and a testament to your post) people are used to enduring negative and degrading vibes from others. There’s never any healing in that; Contrariwise, most on the receiving end of negativity become defensive, downcast and with increased potential to retaliate.

I’ve found that positive gameplay and feedback overall, result in ongoing healthy emotions shared mutually amongst a majority.

  • My Goodness, the things people would sell their soul for

Excellent reminder to be cautious in any deal or offer… The end usually doesn’t justify the means.

  • Crutches/ Wheelchair dependent physically challenged Survivor

  • Yesss! Exactly! DBD is so completely full-on mainstream, now, and I absolutely love it❣️

    So fitting🥰

  • I do agree, most of these are effortless and easily obtainable. There are ppl (I actually have a few friends who suffer from this) who can’t play Killer because first person makes them sick, so they only can play Survivor.

Some of the Tomes were set up with routes that promoted play on both sides to advance. That much was somewhat unfair to certain people.

But yeah, for sure, it’s important for DBD to thrive that it’s players are playing both roles.

  • image.gif

Feel like I can get in ‘the zone’ easier with any Killer when vibing to certain music while playing... and for whatever reason, anything Michael Jackson while playing DBD is like a magical match, especially guessing 50/50 while playing Nurse.
