  • You know, this is actually a 2-sided issue. Survivors play to win too. And they won't stop rushing gens injured with Resilience and Adrenaline just because that Trapper has 2 hooks at 1 gen left. Of course both sides will do what it takes to win. That's only natural.

And now that survivors have pretty much stopped running any anti-tunneling perks at all, tunneling is a safe way to get good results. It's not nice but it is understandable. BHVR should probably revert the nerf to DS but this won't do anything, if survivors don't use it. It's the equivalent of a killer using no slow down perks (aka me for whatever reason). Of course the survivors are going to rush the gens as fast as they can.

I would stop slugging for the 4k, if I had any other chance to pip and actually reach Iri 1 grade. But I have a habit of playing killers that are pretty bad at pipping. I like Bubba and Billy and both are terrible (please remove depips).

At least there is something to look forward to regarding camping and 3 gens. The devs are looking into these and they intend to nerf both of them.

I think Alc Ring is similar to Made for This where only very skilled players are getting fat value from it. Alc Ring barely does anything for the casual, unskilled Blight. They'd be better off with different add-ons. BHVR balances for casual players

Nah. Not really. This addon is a pub stomper. In the highest level of play you won't see a Blight that runs this addon anymore. Because then it's all about that speed.

In a public game you are going to get a good amount of hits with your power and getting it back immediately is kind of ridiculous.

The window vaults being on fences were iconic. That, and they changed the side of the street that the main house was on. Still feels uncanny to me.

Another thing is that there's only like 4 pallets that aren't on the main road or a house. Does anyone remember the square-shaped bushes tile on old Haddonfield?

The one with a bench in the middle and where there could spawn a hook in a corner? These were pretty cool because they didn't look too much like randomly added clutter to give the survivors something to work with.

  • I think they really did a great job here. The killer feels great and they even added some little quality of life improvements like the ability to mark your target so that you don't get lost in the tunnels (really, thank you so much for that, I would get lost non stop). The stealth isn't all that great but it's fine.

I like the tail attack very much so far but I feel there are still some screws to tighten before they release it. It feels a bit unresponsive to me and for some reason your camera is locked shortly before the attack (no idea why, feels kinda clunky). Some of the addons are a bit gimmicky but some are pretty strong. It's going to be fun messing around with Xeno-kitty.

I finally got to play it on DBD mobile when it came out because it had all the old maps still. And wow it's so fun to play on (not for the killer.)

I think the most charming thing about old dbd map design/look was that it felt surprisingly authentic and realistic despite being objectively lower quality.

The newer stuff/reworks feels less immersive and more video-gamey. I think adding clutter to maps to make them feel richer in design was a mistake.

I think it's more about colors and lighting, honestly. Garden of Misery is pretty cluttered but I find it quite immersive. The new maps look good, no doubt about that. But they aren't really authentic as you said. Especially the new Coldwind maps. They look great but I'd trade them for the old versions in a heartbeat. And I experienced how bad they actually were first hand.

I still have nightmares about the old harvesters.

  • Ok, we need to settle this. Xeno-doggo or Xeno-kitty? I'm fine with either but we need to stay consistent with these things.

I vote Xeno-kitty because we already have Demo-doggo.

Also, have you seen it nodding yet? Easy S-tier nodding.

Only 4 can be placed at once, and from what I can tell whether you're being burned by 1 Turret or all 4, you still get out of your power at the same rate

For some reason I still want to see a picture of a bully SWF using all 4 of the turrets at once to burn the Xenomorph. Poor Xeno-doggo is gonna get burned to a crisp.

  • I don't mind it too much personally but it does break immersion a bit. Although it is something that probably helps less experienced players.

Yeah... another "bug fix" from something that has behaved this way for years. Similar to the "killer looks down after hit" mechanic that was a "bug" since the game's inception.

Fortunately, they listened to the PTB feedback on that.

I think they'll monitor the vault change for a while and hopefully adjust it at some point. I'm not saying they should revert it but I feel like this has more impact than it should. I hope they will at least fix the animation soon. It looks awful when the survivor is midway through the vault and teleports the rest of it.

  • @Mandy said:

The simple answer is some addons can be reworked quicker than others without factoring programming time, QA time etc. Simple changes can be done by the Design team with little to no resources from other teams. Larger changes made to addons (or anything else), requires substantially more resources which need to be factored in and slot into the production calendar.

I see your point. But with respect, why nerf this addon at all? It didn't need any changes from what we can see. It was good but definitely not unfair or overpowered. So, it seems like the ressources were spent on something that didn't need it to begin with.

  • Apparently fast vaults were actually meant to be this way. I'm not completely fine with it either because the extra distance increases the vault speed and leads to survivors becoming pretty much invincible on some windows. Especially paired with Resilience, which increases the speed even further. This is probably a faster vault than even with Spine Chill's 6%. It feels absolutely terrible, when you know it's not even worth it to swing at windows anymore because you won't get a hit anyway.

Maybe they should reduce the vault speed to what it was before and instead scale the vault time a little. That way, a survivor wouldn't get hit after the vault and the killer wouldn't be punished for having a good ping. Because if your connection is bad enough, then you're gonna hit the survivor all the way from Brazil.

  • Meanwhile, there's me. Happy about a killer I would actually play again with mobility, some stealth, cool addons to play around with, a skillful anti-loop and the best part: S-tier nodding.

There are some screws to tighten for sure but overall this killer is absolutely great.

The perks aren't too great but not absolutely useless (looking at you, Chess Merchant). The killer perks could use some buffs. The survivor perks are nice but not all that strong either.

You won't see that one perk (can't remember the name), that makes your footsteps quiet anyway. It's only good against Spirit. The other killers don't care too much. The pallet trap on the other hand might actually be pretty good. I know I wouldn't want to play against this with Freddy. Come to think of it, how does this perk actually interact with dream pallets? If it works on dream pallets, I cry. Because Freddy isn't allowed to have any synergy with pallet perks himself.

  • One of these days we're gonna get One Piece. Just you wait.

Though, that should not be an entire chapter. Just skins

  • Nerf Freddy plz.

  • Pop is meta again. Not STILL meta. There is a difference. BHVR realized that camping was becoming too much of an issue, so they tried to give the killer some incentive to leave the hook. You want to nerf it? Ok, let's kill Pop Goes The Weasel and see how fun survivor matches are then.

Corrupt Intervention is a band aid fix to an issue as old as the game itself. Survivors spawn right next to their objective while killers spawn on the other side of the map. As far as possible. Not only can survivors progress their objective more easily than any killer, they also get free time at the start to have an early game advantage. Corrupt Intervention slows that down and allows the killer to have an early game.

You are right about Pain Res but besides the obvious problem, that it rewards camping, Pain Res is a rather healthy perk. It incentivises the killer to hook multiple survivors. So it is an anti-tunneling perk. This is the problem when someone so obviously plays only one side. They don't even think about what happens when certain perks fall out of the meta.

I hate Deadlock as much as the next person because you don't do anything for it. Instead of nerfing this perk and making the old issue of a small number of perks prevelant in every game worse they should rework it. The less meta perks there are, the worse it gets. You haven't experienced the horrors of 4 survivors with identical perks in a majority of matches. It was incredibly stale. Nerfing killer perks until we that situation again is not going to make the game more fun for you, I can assure.

Sloppy is an anti-healing perk that does little to nothing for the strongest killers in the game while helping weaker killers immensely. Didn't you make a post the other day asking why you always see the same killers? Well, nerfing a perk that helps with low pick rates is sure not going to help the issue. The same goes for Jolt. Have you seen Jolt on Nurse and Blight? It does absolutely nothing for them. Because most of their hits are M2s. And if you get hit by a Nurse M1, then that's a skill issue.

I will never understand why people complain about NWO. It really isn't so bad. 1 more minute in the match is only a game changer when the game was close to begin with. And in this case, you barely finished the gens against a killer with 3 perks. Besides that, NWO is again a very healthy perk. Again, it is an anti-tunneling perk. Nerf it and see what happens.

IW is not supposed to make you completely silent anymore. 75% is still good. Slap it on someone who doesn't sound like they are trying to reach someone in outerspace and the killer has better chances hearing your footsteps than your grunts. It is nowhere near dead. Dead are perks like Call of Brine and Overcharge (besides on Dull Merchant with 1 specific addon).

DH is still not dead. Even after 2 nerfs and DH being the bane of any killer's existance. They could nerf it again just for that reason but they made it a fine perk instead.

DS is in a bad spot. It's good against low tier killers and worthless against the stronger ones.

CoH is not dead either. It's still good. Just not broken anymore.

OTR is a meta perk. It's not used anymore because survivors spiraled back chase and gen perks.

  • That smile. That damn smile.

  • It's a way to counter Blood Warden. It's a one in a million but every survivor probably has this 1 game where they to Blood Warden.

The trauma of this perk haunts you forever. From that day on you won't risk it again.

  • I couldn't care less, if Alien is A-tier or not. I just want a killer that I might consider playing again. The last one was Wesker and I'm getting a bit tired of survivors hook suiciding or disconnecting whenever I play him.

Yeah, I get it. You don't want to play against the same killer over and over again but who do you expect me to play? Knight, Dull Merchant, Nurse, Blight, Sadako and Legion probably aren't any better. And I can only play Freddy so many times before I suffer from depression.

For perks I don't really care too much either. They can't be much worse than Dull Merchant's and I doubt BHVR would risk releasing another broken survivor perk now with MFT and the improved fast vaults. Maybe something strong, pretty sure with another endurance effect but not on the same level as MFT.

  • I know this is a highly complex thing to do but there is actually a way to counter this. It's called: "Doing the box before the Chain Hunt starts."

Or you just find a corner with enough clutter around you that the chains can't hit you. I've never had any issues with that.

Or you have your teammates stick close to you to block the chains and do it.

Or you dodge 3 chains and do it after that.

  • Don't worry. At 600 hours you do have a bit of experience but you're nowhere near an expert on DBD. People here have thousands of hours and still learn new things. Play and enjoy the game and you'll get better. It also helps to play both sides and different killers as they all have some nuances they teach you better than others.

As @Pulsar said, 600 hours is only the beginning. DBD is a pretty hard game with all it's nuances and you probably haven't even seen half of what's possible yet. Take it as a learning opportunity but don't let it discourage you. You can still get better and next time you meet a group like this, you will be prepared.

    See you in the fog.

  • Basic Human Deduction is pretty overpowered. Maybe they should nerf it. Saw a Meg the other day with BBQ and found her on a gen that was way too progressed for her to be working alone on it. I couldn't find any scratch marks, so I checked behind the nearest rock and found the Adam. Who had Distortion. He later went on about how I had cheated because there was no way I could have known he was there.

I guess I deserve my inevitable ban for using something so broken as Basic Human Deduction.

  • I played Singularity for some hours when it was released and after they hotfixed it. I still have no clue what I am supposed to do because even just playing M1 killer and not using the power at all gives me better results (I won exactly 3 games, 2 of which were disconnects).

I had Nurse figured out in less than an hour. Not saying I'm the best Nurse player (not by a long shot) but I got the blinking part down. And that killer is really strong.

Singularity feels like the killer with the highest skill floor in the game with the least pay off for that. If you're going to put all this effort into a killer, why not just play stronger killer that is easier to learn and will give you way better results?

  • Obviously that they have the best addons in the game. I wish poor Blight had such strong addons as them.

Have you ever seen the Black Grease in action? Faster chainsaw charging after getting blinded. Completely uncounterable and beyond busted.

Or the Licker Toung. The difference is literally a few inches! BHVR really went berserk on that one.

Freddy has dream pallets. Dream. Pallets. No way in hell anyone escapes against that.

And Pyramid Head has the iri Goblet. I've never seen anyone run that. But I'm sure it's the most broken thing ever.

  • You're not completely wrong. The game has become way more competitive than it used to. But it's not quite so bad that you can't sit back and enjoy the game anymore. There are a lot of casual players out there and we're not going anywhere.

It would be nice though, if they introduced a different game mode for everyone, who doesn't feel like sweating in their games. Something chaotic, utterly unbalanced and completely ridiculous. Like for example a game mode where after every gen your perks switch randomly. Maybe even the killer switches.

  • Let's nerf them all! *diabolic laughter*

Honestly, neither of these perks are complained about anywhere near as much as you make it seem. I reckon that WoO could be nerfed, although the problem is less WoO and more maps. Technically all of these perks will vary in strength as the game changes around them. So they will probably get some passive nerfs eventually.

For example, Adrenaline will become even stronger when BHVR deal with 3 gens because it allows survivors to focus more on repairing that last gen and less on healing. And when 3 gens are less of a problem, then killers have a harder time patrolling gens and get into chases, which makes being injured less of a danger.

With the changes to fast vaults it might be a good decision to nerf Resilience but I think we should give it a bit of time, have them fix the animations first and see how this actually affects balance. Because it will have an effect on balance. If it becomes clear that the extra vault speed from the animation is problematic combined with Resilience, then that will have to be adjusted.

You are completely missing the point.

Either 18+ game should stop being a kindergarden, or be a proper kindergarden (where strict counselor reprimand kid that misbehave). But not something in between.

I couldn't care less about this idiot, some miserable kids literally in every second game lately, it's just when I was playing as killer and we have aftermatch chat (very friendly one), and I had to squeeze through mad censor algorithm for no reason, because what if some kid could see some word and get hurt. Here we can see Elodie that did absolutely nothing wrong (opened a gate), and thats ok.

Still sounds like a rant but ok.

The chat censorship in DBD is a bit weird indeed but it is there for a reason. They could definitely have a look at it and see, if they can't improve it because sometimes even words like "Haddonfield" get censored. But I see no reason to remove it completely.

There is a difference between making a game a "kindergarten" (your words, not mine) and trying to do something about toxicity. You have probably seen how mad some people can get after a game. It's definitely a good thing that BHVR don't just allow everyone to say whatever they like in end game chat. In my opinion this should even lead to harsh penalties, if it happens regularly. Although I am not exactly sure how they handle this right now.

It seems you let it get to you a bit more than you'd like to admit. I completely understand that because deep inside you know it shouldn't bother you but somehow it still does. I've been there too and it still happens every once in a while. An important thing to remember is that these are all just people. They might say rude things but at the end of the day they have no idea, who you are and wouldn't say something like that in person. They say it because they are upset and this is a way for them to blow off some steam. Misery truly loves company. And if you are miserable yourself than you should still take a break and see how you feel a few days later. You'll feel a lot better and your games will be more enjoyable.

  • "OMG. Playing survivor is so horrible because killers are terrible people."

I'm gonna give you the same advice I give to killer players that are this frustrated with the game. Take a break. Go outside, enjoy some fresh air and touch some grass (literally). It will help you tremendously. Then come back in a few days (if you like) and see how you feel.

This is only a game. And if you can't enjoy the game, then it is the healthiest option to take a break.

Oh god. Please no. Don't jinx it! We do not need another Freddy incident. I'm still not over the trauma of Forever Freddy.

Jokes aside, I somewhat doubt that they're going to change that much but we'll have to see. It cannot really get any worse because Twins are pretty much a dead character anyway. I can't even remember the last time I saw someone play Twins.

Actually, scratch that. I played Twins when they were bugged.

Which I also addressed in my first post. Areas with too few Hooks or too many Hooks should clearly be addressed.

But if the Killer messes up, it is on them.

When there is exactly 1 hook in the area, is that on the killer or is that something that should be addressed as well? Because these things happen. More often than you'd think.

I'm all for reducing the number of spots with 10 hooks in such close proximity that the survivors on them could make out with each other but for that they'd have to look at every map and even look at hook offerings.

  • Lethal Pursuer, BBQ, Shadowborn and whatever I feel like. Shadowborn never leaves my build, if I can help it. Lethal Pursuer and BBQ are my 2 comfort perks. They aren't the strongest perks in the game but I can relax with the information I get from them. The last perk is mostly something I decide on in the lobby. 4 flashlights? Guess I'll use lightborn. I play M1 killer? STBFL. You get the idea.

"Sacrificing 1 survivor = Killer being super-dumb with hooking??"

If you go for the first Hook you see - yes. Killers are totally fine with going for other Hook when they reach a Scourge Hook, but suddenly it becomes impossible to use anything else than the nearest Hook when there is no Scourge Hook nearby?

When you play Killer you can easily go to 3 or 4 different Hooks when you pick up a Survivor. If you always pick up the nearest Hook and create a Deadzone, this is your own fault as Killer.

When there are literal hook dead zones on some maps, I'd argue that this is a poor excuse.

  • Probably because it has the potential to make the game even more sweaty, competitive and stale. What do you think would happen, if someone that genuinely believes they are at max MMR finds themself to be just average? That wouldn't exactly humble them. Instead they would double down and do everything in their power to boost their MMR as high as possible until they can't enjoy the game anymore and stop playing.

Others would make fun of people for not being in whatever MMR bracket. And I think neither of those options are good.

Just look through the posts on this forum. It died down a little but still people try to validate everything with: "Well, actually at high MMR..." Because most people think they are at the absolute top, which they are not (otherwise the game would have huge issues).

This would also lead to people discrediting your opinions, if you aren't in the top percentages of MMR rating. And spoiler, most of us aren't. But we still have valuable feedback. It would always be something like: "In order for your opinion to matter, you first have to prove that your MMR is at least this high."

Especially casual and newer players would get picked on, if they can't provide evidence of their MMR being high, which in turn would discourage them from giving feedback and maybe even make them stop playing.

  • The rework is gonna change everything. Just you wait.

Or don't. Because they will stay by the original and only make some small changes to them. I think it will be similar to Ghostface.

  • @Paternalpark said:

Or I could just go afk.

    I say fix matchmaking.

In what way? So that you get to decide the killer, their MMR, their, perks, addons and play style as well as the map?

If someone is looking for a reason to dc they will find one. And there are enough people like that out there. I have seen people that disconnected because they didn't get a stun on the killer. It is not a matchmaking issue but a player issue.

i am not saying that slugging is well designed. in practice you should have bleed out risks for forcing the killer to slug but it is bvhr.

It wasn't fine back then and it's not fine now.

i don't think slugging was ever good for killer. the only two places where it is good for killer is when the killer is camping hooks and they get a slug near a hook or when entire team is put into the dying state. both of those cases are survivor playing poorly and very little to do with the killer. Otherwise, being slugged is not that much of threat. if anything it is reward because your not on a hook and your wasting the killer's time. that is also why twins is not popular killer because she is not time efficient at hooking but slugging is not that rewarding unless survivor messes up. I have no advice towards playing against this other than you will have an annoying match as killer.

Instead of trying to fix slugging in a way that allows the killer to build more pressure when we want it but less when we don't want it, wouldn't it be way easier to just 1 hook spawn there?

They would solve the issue and not even create a new one at that. You might argue that camping is a possibility but how many killers have you seen camping the basement in the main building? And how many of them were actually successful? It is a spot that is quite easy to contest for the killer but also so far off from any of the other gens that the killer cannot defend them at the same time. Even the one on the outside can easily be done with them trying to camp the basement.

For me, they should make next LGBT+ character like Felix and Nurse. Just mention their relationship in their default lore. So we will know this character is trans or they have homo relationship.

With this way it won't feel rushed. And they can focus on character's lore more.

As long as they do it in a responsible and sensitive way, I don't care too much how they handle it. Although I think using existing characters is not always the best way to do it. You saw how many people cared about David and how suddenly there were people being alienated from this character. And the same would happen, if they decided to clarify that Yui was straight.

Maybe it wouldn't be that much of an issue. But I'd rather them not risking it and getting tons of backlash for doing something with the best intentions but instead focussing on new characters to be safe.

  • At some point? Most definitely.

I just hope they don't rush these things but take the time to write good characters. Because rushing these things almost always ends in a disaster and looks disrespectful.

  • @Devil_hit11 said:

the solution is to slug players for 4 minutes. it is just that survivor can go down like 6 times and do gens around the area for free. if you waste too much time with that, the rest of the team can do gens. you can either play into slugging where if the team is efficient, you will likely lose all the gens but you will get 1 kill eventually or ignore the area entirely and give up the gen.

So you expect the killer to wait outside until the survivors are bored and come out themselves? And then what if they run back down there the moment you start chasing them? Some of us are not Nurse and Blight mains, which means that some of us can't end chases in 10 seconds.

But I guess it's fine because eventually they will have to do the other gens and there is no possible way they would make their way down there again. Because don't you know the preschool locks itself closed after the gen is done? Yeah, me neither. This is the same argument as back in the good old days with Boil Over on the RPD library. "Just down them before they get there, baby killer." I still find it hard to believe that people actually defend these things.

It wasn't fine back then and it's not fine now. The only question is how long it's going to take BHVR to do something about this.

Bro, if you don't believe me, even Otz recently said that any mediocre killer can easily reach top MMR in a short amount of time.

Just think logically: If you win more games than you lose, you will inevitably hit the MMR cap regardless of your skill.

That's not even what the discussion is about. I am simply asking around about good tunneling builds with different killers.

If Otz says it, then it must be true. Because he knows more about this works than the developers.

I value Otz opinion on a lot of things but I think he vastly overestimates how many people are actually in high MMR and how easy it is to reach the soft cap. In a discussion about this Peanits shared with us that the MMR distribution has a bell shape. There are not that many people in the lower and higher ends but most of us are distributed somewhere near the middle. If you don't want to believe that for whatever reason, then fine by me but I reckon someone that actually has the exact information would know a little more about this than even data miners and content creators.

Anyway, do what you like. After all, this is a game. And if you have fun tunneling the hell out of every group you encounter, then you're going to do that regardless of what anyone here says.

"It is. That is what "unfair" means in this context. You do not get to decide what is fair and unfair."

No, I am not determining the definition of unfair either. I am using unfair per its actual definition.

"If it's not against the rules, then it's not unfair."

Wrong. That's not the definition of unfair.

"Defining cheating by using the term dishonest is not appropriate for DBD."

And I wasn't using dishonest in my definition. I was using unfair.

Unfair: not following the rules of a game or sport. This is the definition by Google.

    I rest my case.

Cheating: act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage, especially in a game or examination.

The game is not balanced around SWF, so it is in fact an unfair advantage.

You can keep repeating how they allow SWF but that is irrelevant. Whether or not something is allowed is not part of the definition.

It is. That is what "unfair" means in this context. You do not get to decide what is fair and unfair. That is BHVR's responsibility and not ours. If it's not against the rules, then it's not unfair. And considering that BHVR do openly support playing in a SWF and use it as a marketing strategy, I'd say it's pretty safe to assume they allow it.

Defining cheating by using the term dishonest is not appropriate for DBD. Even mindgames and hiding certain perks and addons are technically dishonest.

  • Generators repaired: 2307

    Survivors Sacrificed: 7334

    Bloodpoints earned: 225,066,972

Max bloodpoints spent on one character: 24,086,747

I knew I played a lot more killer but this is still surprising me. Might be time to dust of the Ace and show off the abomination I've created using different cosmetics again.

Also, Chainsaw Hits (Billy): 8,052. Took me a while to get there but seeing this number makes me weirdly proud.

"If it was cheating game would not have option to play with friends on party and it would never be released on xbox where you have built in comms on consoles."

Wrong. That is not a part of the definition of cheating. Whether they allow it or not or build it into the system is completely irrelevant for the definition of cheating. That may be how people tend to use the word cheating, but most people are using the word incorrectly.

"Game is balanced beating casual swf:s but only good 4 man is problem"

No, the game is not balanced around a casual 4 man swf. It's balanced around a bad solo queue group. Most people could debate on what kind of solo queue group the game is balanced around, but it's pretty unanimously agreed on that the game is not balanced around swf at all.

"but then soloQ wiuld suffer too much if game was balanced around that and it would suck all the fun away as well."

This would be a completely different conversation. I'm not referencing how the game should be balanced here, I'm simply clarifying the definition of cheating.

Cheating: To deal fraudulently, practice deceit. https://www.oed.com/search/dictionary/?scope=Entries&q=cheating

Also: Cheating generally describes various actions designed to subvert rules in order to obtain unfair advantages. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheating

There is no rule against SWF and there is no rule against the use of third party softwares for communication purposes as long as it doesn't affect the game's files. Which is not the case for Discord and other platforms.

Meaning, when BHVR allow something, then it is not cheating. They make the rules. If they decided that it was allowed for people to use third party software to gain the ability to fly, then even that, by definition, would not be cheating. Fortunately, they wouldn't do something like that but you get the point.

my bad! i actually didn’t know that spine chill’s vault speed boost was removed. thank you for telling me, that’s an oops on my part.

but if i’m being honest? i think it still relys on whether or not someone has VSync on or not, maybe uncapped fps too as fps plays a BIG factor in any game. but wifi/connection issues are also playing a big factor. you may have bad wifi, or the survivors you go against have bad wifi. or the survivors your going against have actual incredible wifi like they play right next to a satellite. VSync plays a great factor in it too, but you HAVE to take into consideration of the killer having VSync on while the survivor doesn’t. it plays a big part.

the moment i turned it off and increased my FPS, i was able to do stuff i couldn’t before and the amount of things i’ve gotten away with is crazy. i was able to hit survivors as killer easier, i was able to do many things easier along with having my game feel amazing. blame dbd’s crappy engine for things like this as they have VSync forcefully enabled and have the FPS capped at 60. not just that, dbd’s engine is just flat out terrible. you wonder why every update breaks a ton of things? that’s their engine just being old, it’s not modern. hell even overwatch updated to a brand new engine to be more modern.

These are possible but since none of these were changed, isn't it highly unlikely that the issue lies there? And for so many people too? If it was latency, then that would actually favor the killer and we would only see things as you described earlier. Survivors getting hit way past the vault. BHVR have tried to fix the latency issue shortly after the fifth anniversary but only reversed the issue and made it even worse. There is little that can be done about this other then adding more servers. But I digress.

I think this is a situation similar to the "bugged" addons of Spirit and Bubba. The addons were not exactly bugged. It's just that they coded these addons a way that actually scaled the entirety of the killer's power. In this case, they probably have only added the extra distance and tied it together somehow, while not correcting the animation.

I don't know what exactly it is but I do know that something about this is not working as intended. That is clear when the animation is consistently off. I do not say that they should revert the changes. However, I hope they will look into this again and sort it out.

Survivors aren’t necessarily vaulting faster; they just aren’t losing run momentum when they go into a fast vault anymore. What was happening was that when survivors did a fast vault prior to this fix, the game treated it like a medium vault so the vault slowed them down even though the animation still showed a fast vault. But that isn’t how fast vaults are supposed to work. I think it glitched out around patch 3-4? It was a really, really old bug.

Maybe. They should at least look into it again and fix the animations. It looks awful, really

I still have my doubts because when a survivor is in licking distance then a hit should be a hit but it is possible that the changed speed explains that. After all, the relative speed of the killer towards the survivor is reduced by that as well.

I am 100% fine with the extra distance. Although I can't say I noticed even one occurence of the survivor not getting more distance for a fast vault than for a slow or medium vault. A survivor could still be hit after a medium vault because they were so close to the window but that wasn't the case for fast vaults. Then again, I probably wasn't around at the time it broke (I started after the Twins' release), so I have little to compare it to.

Thats my thought too. I think its a disconnect between hitbox and animation, and this should be fixed, but that could mean increased vault speed animation.

If that is what this comes down to, then I'm more than happy about that as long as it works right.

It feels like the month or so where hit validation was turned completely in the survivor's favor. It's less that you don't get the hit but that the game gives you wrong information. In this case, you see the survivor still close to you when in reality they are already on the other side probably about to pop the next gen.

If you regularly go up against p100 players with around 5-10 thousand hours, it's a very good sign. The killer MMR reaches a softcap at around 3600 points. Every killer starts with 1100 points and it can go down to 900 points.

You get 60-80 MMR points for every match you win, which is modified by the MMR of the opposing team and the length of the match. If you win 60-80% of your games as killer, you are very likely to reach the high MMR in less than 500 hours.

Survivors, even top tier ones, tend to have much lower MMR than most killers, because for them it only counts gate escapes as victories. And MMR loss is modified significantly if you lost against a low-MMR opponent.

If you loop a baby killer for 5 gens and die to NOED/Ranchor, you lose a huge amount of MMR points. So even a mid-tier killer is very likely to face veteran survivor mains on a regular basis.

    Source: Dataminers and Otzdarva.

Yeah, sorry. How silly of me. I forgot that literally every killer is in high MMR because you obviously get pushed so hard and nobody ever is wrong about something like that because everyone has perfected the art of calculating this invisible number. I myself recounted all decimal places of pi just this morning. Looks a lot like my MMR. Only without the dot. ;-)

I can say that I win more games than I lose but I'm under no illusion that I am some super high skilled top MMR killer or survivor. I reckon even most content creators are by far not as high up as they think. I believe I crossed the soft cap some time ago (a bit more than a year) because I played against someone who I believe is in MMR. But I can also say that my matches around the time have felt awful on every killer and it took quite a bit of me getting stomped until it felt normal again. Overall I couldn't care less about my MMR as long as my matches are enjoyable and that wasn't the case at the time.

The amount of hours someone has in this game is also not a reliable indicator for how good they actually are. Sometimes you play against people that have surprisingly few hours and they are incredibly good and other times you go against a legacy 3 Dwight with a bit more than 8k hours and are a bit disappointed because they are only an average player. Not bad but not super good either.

I have a bit more than 2k hours and I go against people with play times reaching from not even a thousand hours to 6k and beyond pretty frequently.

it very much can, the speed of vaults have not changed one bit. you may have gone against someone running resiliance, spine chill, or both perks. as both perks alone increase the speed of vaulting, so you may have gone up against that. the new vaults only just increased the distance the survivor gets away from the window and thats it, the actual speed of vaulting has never changed unless its the killer vaulting.

you probably went up against the 2 perks i stated

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3505501#Comment_3505501

yup! its like when survivors had to readjust to flashlight blinds after the many times flashlights got changed & killer pickup animations buffed. it just takes time to readjust

I have played against survivors with and without Resilience. Spine Chill does no longer have any effect on vault speed. That was changed in patch 6.1.0 and is part of the reason few people use it anymore. I know the difference with and without the perk. A survivor is harder to hit when they use Resilience but the game doesn't deny hits that happen during the animiton, when the survivor is still on the same side of the window. And Resilience doesn't cause the animation to glitch either.

I would overlook this, if it happened once or twice. After all, these things can happen. Maybe you aimed too low and hit the vault because of that. But when it consistently costs me hits that are nowhere near questionable (before the survivor is through the window) something is off. And you can actually see that it doesn't work right. Are you really going to tell me that the animation looks normal to you? When the survivor character model skips frames?

The best explanation I can come up with is that the survivor character model doesn't fit the actual hitbox. The hitbox moves continuously through the window just like before and then neatly adds the extra distance. The animation on the other hand seems to be just like before until the character model reaches the point where they should get extra distance. At that point the game overcompensates and teleports the survivor forward because the animation is technically over but the character model is not yet in the same position as the hitbox.

  • @Ayodam said:

It’s because they fixed fast vaults which were always supposed to keep momentum/grant distance. Prior to this fast vaults worked like medium vaults. That was intended. The fix corrects it.

The issue isn't the extra distance at all. You should get that but for some reason the actual speed of the fast vault seems to have increased. You make more distance in the same (or less?) amount of time now and that denies a lot of hits killers should get. Even during the vault animation survivors cannot be hit. You can see that something is not working properly by looking at the animation. It's like the survivor is frozen for a fraction of a second before being teleported forward.

you sure its not just a connection issue on your or their part? if im being honest with you, im STILL getting hit by things that shouldn't have hit me during fast vaults or at least during them. all the bugfix did was make it so the killer couldn't hit you while your like many meters away from the window. it was very much a needed change even if it wasn't a bug or not.

If it was a latency issue, then the killer wouldn't notice that. Because on their screen they clearly hit you and the game favors killers in these situations. Since nothing was changed in that regard it can't be explained by latency.
